BBC Sounds. Music, radio, podcasts.
Hello and welcome to Off The Telly from BBC Sounds.
I'm Natalie Cassidy.
And I'm Joanna Page.
And this is the podcast where we have a good old catch up about the telly we've been watching this week.
Now this is our first ever remote recording. There probably
is going to be some swearing and some spoilers because this basically is the first time that I
have been told to hook this up myself. So be prepared. I probably am going to swear all the
way through this because I'm quite frightened and I've been given the responsibility of a microphone
and headphones just by myself well the thing is joe
right we're usually in the studio together and we love having a catch-up and meeting up in person
don't we we're a bit old-fashioned i'm incredibly i'm afraid you're selfishly in wales you're
selfishly filming gavin and stacy at the moment i am right now this is my hotel room look i can
see myself normally i can't really see myself but But I've had to set up the microphone and the headphones and all of this, right, on my computer,
which I haven't used in absolutely ages.
It looks very dark, but a bit swish.
What are those lights behind you?
It's very dark.
Yeah, those are lights.
The bed is behind me there.
And those are lights, like, above the bed.
But no, it's very dark and very moody.
Not out of choice, but that's, like, the whole hotel vibe.
Oh, is it? Is it all a bit cool?
Yeah, it is. It is.
But it's very nice. It's really lovely.
Yeah.
Oh, that's good.
And how is it all going?
I'm so excited that you're doing it.
Oh my God, it's so much fun.
I'm laughing absolutely loads.
It's mad though. It's absolutely mad.
I mean, we've been down the slots
and I've been filming my stuff with Nessa down the slots
and it's just mad because there's so many people will be filming and then the beach will
suddenly, you know, get full of people coming to watch and it's so lovely and sweet and there's
like so many dogs being brought down and I'm meeting all these little different dogs and
the public are coming and all of the fans and it's absolutely gorgeous because it's been pouring with
rain recently and people are still coming down and standing to watch us and it's just it's really
sweet and bringing little gifts and presents it's lovely oh that is so lovely however are there kind
of things spoilers that you don't want you know anyone to see we've been filming down by stacy's
house recently and um and we did have barriers up for the last special but the barriers set back
quite far apart now so you know really like far down the road so you can't really see anything
or see what's going on but it's mad you pull up in the car and then you get out and the crowd just
go way and cheer and you genuinely feel like a pop star or something so i'm enjoying myself for
now because i know that when it finishes i'll be going home to four children who'll be like, Mummy, Mummy, can I have my tea?
Mummy, I want this, I want that.
So I'm enjoying being fussed over because it's not going to last for long.
Oh, that's lovely.
And I'll tell you something.
Have you just come from set?
Have you still got your makeup on?
I have, I have.
Stacey's very glammed up.
Stacey's looking sexy.
Because, I mean, this probably is the first time, actually,
that you will have seen me with, like, proper makeup on
because I never wear makeup.
When we were in the studio, I've never got, like, makeup on,
but I actually do have, like, proper makeup on now.
Oh, well, it looks lovely.
Really lovely.
Oh, thank you.
And I saw a pic of you.
Your James put a pic of you on Instagram
and he put up amazing and gorgeous or whatever.
I was like, oh, he's so cute.
I tell you what.
It was obviously like a pap shot of you
and you looked absolutely fab.
Oh, well, I've been putting loads of fake tan on my legs
because I've got a dress which is above the knee
and it is years since I have worn a dress above the knee
because having four children, my youngest is two and a half,
you know, I'm always in jeans and a T-shirt.
I feel like I'm not, you know, I'm not'm not you know going to be wearing like all dresses and feeling
like sexy or anything at the moment but that is what I'm wearing right now and I gotta be honest
I'm loving it I think going into the winter now I'm going to be wearing short little skirts and
dresses with little tights and stuff in real life because I'm quite tight and a little ankle boot
maybe yes yes and the cowboy boots back in.
So maybe you can smash a pair of those on.
I know.
I think I probably could.
I want like little short little skirts, tights, little, you know, boots and a nice big baggy jumper in real life.
And a big long scarf for the detective series.
That I've knitted myself and then a big long detective coat.
How is yours going?
How's all your presenting going going I've had a little rest
actually this week so yeah this week I've been more at home and it's probably the first week
for a really long time that I've actually had a bit of time at home albeit busy I've had a bit
more grounding at home and it's just been really lovely with the kids and stuff and then and then
I go manic again but yeah yeah, it's just crazy.
But it's weird to be here with you on Zoom.
I just want to give you a cuddle.
You know what's mad, right,
is that I think it's the Welshness coming out in me.
And this is exactly what my mother would do.
I feel like I'm shouting
because I feel I can see you in a little box
on my computer screen and I'm shouting
even louder than I normally am
because I just want to get my voice to you.
I'm missing you.
I want us to sit on the sofa
and I want to give you a catch.
Everything is so secretive down here though.
I went to Marks and Spencer's yesterday
to go and buy some bras.
And when I was in there,
I'd had a massage in the hotel
and the lady behind the counter
asked me which hotel I was in and I had to go I can't say I'm too scared to say anything
I can't say anything at all yeah oh it's very cloak and dagger but it's all worth it because
none of us want to spoil it not for Christmas day or whenever it's on but I'm reckoning Christmas
day anyway should we get on with it? Come on then, let's go for it.
OK, let's hear what our listeners have to say. Now, we've got this voice note from Zoe about how she's been accidentally listening to the pod.
Hi, Jo and Nat. It's Zoe from St Albans.
I just thought I'd message because something made me laugh recently at myself.
It might amuse you. I first started listening to the pod right ages ago and thought, oh, I like
Joe in that. This will be good. And I knew Joe was excitable, has explained stuff. And I love that
about you. And as I started listening, I was like, oh, this is maybe she's a bit more excitable than
I thought. This is maybe a bit much. I'm not sure as she speaks very quickly I thought well maybe it's just the mood
I'm in today and then just something about I happened to look at the app and realized I had
it on two times speed I thought ah that makes more sense that would be why and and I've turned
it down to normal speed and all good and I'm'm loving the pod even more. Oh, my God.
I am so glad that she managed to work out that I wasn't,
I didn't actually speak like that normally because I talk fast anyway.
So to have me on double speed, can you just imagine?
Can you imagine two times you doubling it up?
I literally would be like, hello and welcome to Off the Telly.
We're going to be talking about this today.
I mean, it must have been like that.
Poor thing.
I'm so glad that you worked out that I'm not really that, you know, excitable.
That I'm, you know, that you've toned me down a bit.
We're excitable and we have a good time, but we're not rushing through.
That would be terrible, wouldn't it?
I think that, yeah, my James in real life would probably like to have like a knob like that to turn down.
If I'm getting really talkative and excitable and I'm getting all really quite hysterical,
that he could just go and turn me down by half I wondered what you were going to say then because
you said my James is knob and I thought I don't know where we're going with this but fortunately
we were talking about the fade of things and I started saying knobs turning me down I was then
going to say turning me up and I just thought oh my god just stop talking just stop turning me on
turning me knobs and all that it's all too much it's all too much Jo do you remember when we've
been talking about this is us and we need to find time to settle down and watch the rest of it
have a listen to this voice note hi Nat and Jo absolutely love the podcast um I'm Karen I'm in
Cheltenham I just wanted to say thanks to whoever it was who recommended watching
This Is Us I hate sport so this summer I have spent every day watching every single season
of This Is Us and I am an emotional wreck don't know what to do with myself loved all the characters loved all the stories cried buckets so thanks to whoever it was
I'm a mess love the podcast again I'm looking forward to listen to it again every week bye
oh thank you Karen for that voice note do you know I'd love to sit down and watch it like Karen
since we reviewed it I haven't seen any of it. Mark keeps saying, can we watch This Is Us, please?
Can we sit down and watch This Is Us?
Because we've watched the first one together now.
And for some reason, something's stopping me.
I think I just feel a little bit emotional with the back to school and all of that.
And I'm a bit on edge.
And I think I'm an emotional wreck.
I don't know if I can cope.
Me too.
I haven't done any more of it.
I've thought, do you know what I've got into now?
Only murders in the building.
And that's the only thing that I'm watching.
That is what I'm watching.
So it's like I don't have any space for it.
And I don't think I can handle it emotionally
because I know it's going to be a big one.
And I kind of think, oh, I'm just not there at the moment.
I'm too tired.
I just haven't got it.
I just haven't got it in me at the moment.
Well, the thing is, it's there, isn't it, for the taking?
Yeah.
And we're really lucky because we've got it there.
So that's a good thing.
All right, it's time for us to get into this week's shows.
We've been watching Changing Ends on ITVX,
007 Road to a Million on Amazon Prime
and Extraordinary on Disney+.
Right, let's talk telly.
Now, we had a listener last week recommend Changing Ends, which is on ITVX, and it's
all about, it's sort of like Alan Carr's autobiography, really.
We've had, I went straight in, I've not seen any of it before and I went straight in on the
first episode of series two so I'm assuming that series one has been about you know his childhood
and him growing up and everything series two you know um young Alan is still in school and he's
dealing with bullies and being in a comprehensive school and his friends and basically trying to
pass for a 15 film and And oh my God, just watching
it, it's obviously set right, you know, in the 1980s. His mum is wonderful. It's just bringing
back so many memories of my childhood and my time in school. And it's narrated kind of by Alan. He
jumps in every now and then to talk about what's happening and, you know, make comments on different
bits and bobs. And then the whole of the episode then is, you know, make comments on different bits and bobs.
And then the whole of the episode then is, you know, like played as in like a real, you know, comedy drama type thing.
And I loved it. I thought it was really funny. I thought it was lovely.
I absolutely loved it. So it's really good, actually. You've gone in on series two.
I've started right from the beginning, series one, ep one.
I would imagine the boy that you're watching
play alan is now a different boy is it oliver salvo oliver salvo he is absolutely brilliant
so obviously he's at primary school at the moment it starts like you say i i loved him he is a mini
alan and i just thought he was so sweet and as as you said, I think Sean Dooley, who I work with actually, Jo,
I work with Sean, he played an EastEnders vicar years ago.
He did, didn't he? What was he doing?
He was a vicar.
He was one of the, you know, he did the odd wedding, the odd funeral.
And we got on like a house on fire years ago, me and Sean.
Oh, he seems so lovely and he's brilliant in this playing alan's dad such a good
actor though isn't he and everything he does he's absolutely brilliant i loved the nipping him from
alan i thought that was really different because of course it's fun and it's sort of a drama and
it is autobiographical but i love the fact that you, you look round and he's at the football club and his dad, you know, was a real kind of alpha male with the football team.
And then the football team are in this sort of jacuzzi, you know, kind of big bath,
not a jacuzzi, 1980s.
But they're in a big bath and then it suddenly sort of swipes up
and Alan's sat on the end of it going, oh, well, wouldn't you know,
they're all in a bath together and they think they're manly.
And I just think it's absolutely hilarious. I really, really enjoyed it. Definitely one I'm
going to carry on. Little Oliver Saville, who plays Alan, is just fantastic. In the one I was
watching, he's sitting there with his mum and he's got his relationship with his mum is just so
adorable. And they're brilliant together. and it just reminded me of being you
know in comprehensive school in the 1980s he's sitting there with a finder's crispy pancake on
his lap with his mum he's watching big daddy doing the wrestling he's got his best friend there as
well but then he's trying to get in with like the sort of bullies in the school who were saying right
I bet you can't get into a 15 film they're going going to go and see Platoon. And then he has his first shave.
And it's just, oh my God, it's so 1980s.
And then there's rivalry between this other female neighbour
who keeps coming round and trying to get his mum
to wear different coloured clothes and stuff.
And it's just brilliant.
And Oliver Saville is just Alan Carr.
I mean, he's just, he is Alan Carr.
He's a complete star.
I think without Oliver Saville, the show wouldn't work.
He just manages to just be Alan.
He's just got all of his mannerisms.
He's got his voice.
Yeah, and I think, you know, Alan Carr is such a well-loved character,
you know, and comedian of our time.
And I think if you love Alan Carr,
if you watch sort of Alan and Amanda's documentary
or you've watched all of his shows,
chat shows in the past, Chatty Man,
or, you know, anything that Alan's done,
you're going to sit and watch this
because it is autobiographical.
And if you're fond of him, you can see where he's come from.
So if you haven't seen it,
I definitely think if you're
an Alan Carr fan definitely go and watch it I think I might go back and I might start it from
series one yeah I'd like to sit and watch it with Eliza because Eliza is a big fan of Alan Carr so
I think she'll absolutely love it so I'd really I think again it's it's one for me and Eliza to
sit down with a bar of chocolate and a packet of crisps. Yes, I would definitely recommend it. Thought it was great. And please, listeners, let us know what you think. You know, watch it,
send us a message or even better, please send us a voice note because they're the best and we'll
let you know the number at the end of the show. Now, a listener of ours passionately recommended this next show, so we had no choice. We had to watch it.
Oh, my God. It was quite mad. 007, Road to a Million, which you can watch on Amazon Prime.
Now, my first thought was, good God in heaven, how much is Brian Cox getting paid to do this, right?
Immediately, Jo, immediately. I promise you, I thought. Yeah, I was kind of then freaked out because I was like, oh, my God, how are they managing to do this?
Because you've got the 007 music, you've got the same credits, you've got the same locations and everything.
It's the Broccoli family.
And then I saw, it is, it's like a complete, you know, like co-production type thing, isn't it?
Good God, I mean, the budget for it must have been huge because it's a quiz show where Brian Cox, you know, who's the head of the family from Succession, he has got a few, you know, different people.
There's different couples and they have to go around the world answering questions.
They have to find a briefcase, silver briefcase, and then they open it up and there's a question in there.
If they get the question right, they get £3,000.
Then there's a clue they've got to find the next briefcase.
Then they'll get £10,000 and it leads all the way up to
they could possibly win a million pounds.
And they go to different places all over the world,
different locations that you'd find in Bond
and then they have to do stunts, which you basically would get in Bond.
So when you kind of break it down for people who haven't seen it, imagine a James
Bond film crossed between who wants to be a millionaire and the krypton factor. Yes, it's
insane. It's mad. One of the best actors of our time, Brian Cox, sat in front of a screen
and he kind of is going, question one.
And he says his question, but he's a bit smug.
And I reckon he's thinking, I've only got to sit here.
He must have gone in there, right?
And he must have earned, I don't know how many million or something.
And he probably did all of that in voiceover all in one day in that studio.
And I tell you what though, he's good.
I mean, he is, he's really, really good.
He manages to sort of just like,
so he's on sort of the phone to them.
I mean, which he probably,
well, he's not on the phone to them,
but he's doing his bits on the phone to them.
And he just has like a line every now and then.
But Jesus Christ, what he does with each line is brilliant.
I mean, he's just got such presence, hasn't he?
So much.
And do you know what, I couldn't help but think it.
They're in this telephone box, you know, and they're getting a question and it just reminded me of I'm a celeb,
you know, and they jump into the phone box. Yes, that's so true. This show has really kind of
picked a lot of ideas from everything else because they've got loads of money. They can just make
whatever they want. And I thought, you know what? Good luck to them. But please, for one minute,
please, can we talk about James and Jerry? Well, it's Delbury and Rodney. It thought, you know what? Good luck to him. But please, for one minute, please can we talk about James and Joey?
Well, it's Delbury and Rodney.
It is, isn't it?
I mean, James and Joey,
they are my favourite couple.
And do you know what I found, right?
The episodes are incredibly long.
So I started getting a bit bored, right?
They're in the most amazing locations
and then the most rugged sort of locations as well.
And they've got to wade all
the way into the sea up to their necks to be able to lift the briefcase up drag it all the way back
open it up and then try and answer the question and everything and um and i just thought i just
want to watch james and joey so i started like fast forwarding through the rest of them because
i just wanted to get to them because it ended up the episodes just were too flipping long i know
but joe with all due respect, right,
James and Joey turned up with their best jeans on,
a pair of clean trainers,
and they had to fucking trek up the biggest mountain you've ever seen in your life.
Surely they knew what they were coming into.
Well, I know, I was thinking that.
I was thinking, surely you should have put on some walking boots.
I mean, you have been, like, dropped, haven't you?
Yeah, they were in Scotland.
You've been dropped in Scotland on the side of a cliff. You've got to climb all the way up it, climb all the way back
down and then go in the sea all the way up to your neck. I mean, you shouldn't have worn your
best jeans, should you? I wouldn't personally wear my best jeans for an expedition like that
or a pair of trainers. No. You'd have to have a pair of walking boots. There was no water in sight.
I thought, who's giving them a bit of water? They didn't have a water bottle. There wasn't a rucksack. There wasn't any snacks. I was a bit worried about them all bit of water they didn't have a water bottle there wasn't a rucksack there wasn't any snacks I was a bit worried about them all yeah they didn't have
anything at all and they seemed I mean at one point I think they said we've been walking for
seven miles or something it was a bit like oh my god and then but then they'll walk for ages and
then they find themselves suddenly in some big farm and then they'll go into like the big garage
bit in the farm and then there are all these classic old cars which will have featured in
Bond and it's really quite freaky because it is like you're watching one of the tasks from the
traitors and then dipped into it you've got like bits and bobs from Bordens it is crazy it's a
crazy show will I continue to watch it it didn't massively grab my attention but I think because
it's so flamboyant and because I love Brian Cox,
it might go on again.
But I'd rather, to be honest, I'd rather sit and watch the 1% Club or the Krypton Factor than a show that's trying to be everything.
But if you love a quiz show and you want a little bit of danger,
you might really like it.
But I think Traitors is 10 times better.
But do you know what?
If you like a quiz
they're answering some questions there's a little bit of action and you see some really posh cars
and they're in great places it's got a bit of everything go for it be prepared the episodes
are very long and I think they could have you know cut the episodes in flipping half or something or
cut some huge chunks out of it I don't think I'll carry on watching it because I mean because when
you sit down to watch an episode it's you know you know, you're in it for the long haul. You can't sit
down and go, all right, you know, say like Race Across the World or something like that. I could
do, you know, two or three episodes a night of that. You know, when you get addicted to it and
you're like, oh my God, where are they going next? I need the next one. You can't do that with this.
It's a big one. So Sit Down is probably an episode a night. You can't do any more than that,
but it's beautiful to look at.
Brian Cox sounds fantastic.
And James and Joey, so far, are the stars of the show.
I completely agree with you.
And you can watch that, catch it all on Amazon Prime.
Now, our next show is called Extraordinary.
It's on Disney Plus.
And it's all about this girl who, well, it's basically, we're watching it because
we've had loads of recommendations from voice notes and loads of our listeners have recommended,
said it's fantastic. It's set in this world and in this lifetime, but normal people have a power.
So everybody basically is a superhero. They've all got, know like a superpower so somebody so you see you
know somebody'll be talking on the phone and somebody's walking through the street and then
they'll just click their fingers or just go like that and a flame will come out and they can light
somebody's cigarette other people can fly other people can yeah flying or there'll be a taxi that
flies past and this guy does you know doesn't get wet at all so So it's really clever. Very, very early on you can see
it's our world, but everybody
is extraordinary.
They've all got a little something that's different about them.
Everybody has got a power.
Yeah, there's a hilarious bit,
isn't there, with the main star of the show
who plays Jen, where
she's gone on a date and she goes
back with this guy and he's a bit of a geeky
looking guy and he says, I of a geeky looking guy.
And he says, I'm really, really sorry.
I'm very, very worried.
And he says, I'm very, very sorry.
He said, but my superpower is if I touch someone,
I just make them come immediately.
And she's a bit like, I lucked it.
She's like, wow, this is amazing.
But it goes into the fact that he found this out
through hugging his dad, like shaking his dad's hand and
it's really interesting and I love that yeah because I I didn't really want to watch it in
the beginning because I thought oh god it's going to be you know a bit like heroes was years ago
everybody's got superpowers and they're all going to be amazing and what I loved about it when I put
it on is that everybody is normal and shit things are happening to people she hasn't discovered her power yet it's not come
through so she's panicking about that and um but but it's just like people aren't amazing and they
aren't wonderful and they aren't like superman or anything like that they're just normal people and
they've all just got like a different power and life is still shit and weird things happen and
it's just so clever her best friend works for like sort of
like a solicitor she's so good she's so mild and meek and very gently spoken and but her power is
that she can channel you know the dead and so there's this um ex-wife and then a younger new
wife of this man who's died and they're arguing about the will and stuff and then she comes in
says oh hello it's lovely to meet you i'm so sorry for your loss and she's very gentle and then she says okay then
right would you like me to do it now and then her eyes sort of turn and then this really like
possessed dark you know deep sounding voice comes out of her throat and she is channeling him and
he's coming out going don't leave anything to that one leave it all to this one I don't know
and and she's just amazing the way that she can
just turn and then what about the fella who gives people orgasms whenever they touch him so he puts
on these plastic gloves so he can touch her and kiss her and then try and give her an orgasm and
he says I need to feel like I'm doing it myself you know because that means a lot to him and so
she's lying there and he's trying to do it and he can't give her an orgasm
because he just, he can't do it. And she's just lying there just going, oh, please, just desperately
wanting to, you know, just touch him. And then the cat jumps on the bed and accidentally touches him
and then the cat gets an orgasm. I love it. I'm going to carry on watching it.
Desperately wanting to take the gloves off, but no, I genuinely thought it's a really clever idea. I really, really like the characters. And again, it's something that I
think I would sit and watch with the family. Really like it. Yeah. It's not what I loved is
that it wasn't sweet. It's not all, oh, everybody's amazing and strong and wonderful and sexy and
people are normal and some people's powers haven't come through.
So she's desperately trying to get hers through.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to finding out what it is.
I know already what mine would be if it's allowed. So I'm not sure even if it could be allowed
because obviously it's one body.
But my superpower would be to clone myself
and then have three or four of me in different places.
So I wouldn't have a superpower, but I could be at work and then I could be with the children.
Then I could be cleaning at home and I'd have four or five of me.
So that would be my superpower to clone myself and I could get everything done and please everybody.
That would be mine.
That is good. that is good.
That is good.
I think my superpower would be that I could probably clear a field of everything.
Like if you wanted an area,
like say the police came in and said,
we've got to cordon off this area.
Or say a farmer said,
I've got a load of cows in this field.
We just need to get them out.
Without having to get a dog in,
I could just go boom like that.
And just, I could expel like the speed of how I talk
and my energy.
I could just be like,
everybody get out of the field now
because I'm going to get out of the field.
I could do that like really fast.
And then I could just like clear a field.
So if you needed like some massive big industrial roof like that,
I think I would use my energy to like, boof, like that.
Is that dangerous?
Because it could end up like the other show we watched about,
you know, the one that was like the computer game.
Oh my God, The Last of Us.
There you go.
Jesus.
I mean, my God.
Well, I tell you what,
I could clear a field of zombies, couldn't I?
Easy peasy.
I mean that, see look, that that is where see you think the superpower
that i would have could be a bad thing and could be a whatever turns out we have now discovered in
this conversation where i would use my superpower if there was a zombie apocalypse and they came
along we wouldn't have to worry about running away from the zombies i literally would just go
like that and i would completely and utterly clear them off the face of the earth.
So if there's an apocalypse, I'm coming to you. Definitely.
Yeah. Oh, definitely. Because if you're cloning yourself, I could have you making a shelter for us.
You could then get some food on. You could then go hunting.
You could then get stuff ready for, you know, the shelter. You could make some clothing.
I could do it all. I could just, there's loads of me just knocking about everywhere doing everything you want and you can just talk you do everything i'll
stand outside our little um you know little area and i will just talk non-stop and that will just
clear the area with with my voice that's what i'll do oh my god we're such a good team we're such a
good team i feel like we could phone up the Broccoli family now
and make that into a quiz show.
We could.
We could, genuinely.
Couldn't we?
Oh, my God.
You think they'd give us a couple of million
and we could do our own thing?
I think so.
I reckon so.
But we might have to get James Corden involved.
James Corden could be the kind of, you know,
person on the seat doing the Brian Cox bit.
You know what I mean?
Because I'd want someone like that to do it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Well, if there's going to be a zombie apocalypse, I think that we're sorted then.
Perfect.
Well, at least we know we're all right now.
So is that all of our shows?
Have we done all of them?
That is all of our shows.
And I tell you what what what a lovely week
there was nothing in there too dark or scary for me so i i really enjoyed it and now i don't know
what we're up to next week but i feel like no now something's gonna creep along that i'm not
gonna like i've had a bit of a lucky run but yeah i think that we need our next things i think i i'd
like to get a bit of a you know dark
documentary in or something I think you've had it too easy Nat I think you're right I think we have
had it too easy maybe I can have a really nice comedy though a little throwback we'll have like
a porridge special or something along with like the darkest killer in the world for Jo yeah anyway
listen before we go let's hear what recommendations our listeners have got for us, right?
Stacey Dooley sleeps over.
And now this is a series I discovered on BBC iPlayer.
Now, it's one of them.
It's an interview series and it's different guests every week,
which Stacey Dooley stays over with for two nights.
You don't have to watch it in order.
You can watch it in any order that you want.
I think there's about three series available on BBC iPlayer.
So I highly recommend it to your listeners
and hope to hear it on the podcast soon.
Love the podcast.
Thanks.
Bye.
I really like Stacey.
I really love Stacey too.
So I think that is going to be a bit of an eye-opener.
And I don't know who she sleeps over with,
but knowing her, she's got some wild and wacky families that she goes to see how they live and
stuff so that might be a really good one to do Jo. She's so good though isn't she she's so like
she can go into any situation and just chat to anyone she's just got such a lovely spirit to her
I think she's fab so yeah I think that's a really good recommendation. We've also got another voice note from Kit.
Loving the podcast.
It just makes me feel good even when I just hear the intro music,
when I'm walking to work.
Keep it up.
I've got a recommendation for you for absolute feel good,
good vibes TV in this time of like proper gloom and the world going rubbish.
Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams on tour.
Oh, my God. I watched it all four last night. I binged it.
And oh, my heart. Honestly, what a show.
It'll really make you feel good. Watch it. Let me know what you think. Bye.
I think that my James has been watching this with the children while I've been away.
Oh, really?
Because he was saying about it and he was going to put it on for them and everything.
Because, yeah, I think, you know, the kids can watch it.
So I think they've all been watching it together.
So I'm going to ask him as well what he thinks of it.
But I think that'll be a good one as well. Really interesting.
Oh, well, please do.
Let's find out what James and the kids thought of it,
but it sounds really uplifting and really good,
so thank you so much, Kit.
Brilliant, brilliant recommendation.
And finally, let's hear this recommendation
for a new comedy show a listener thinks will love
right up my street.
I'm really excited because Colin from Accounts
is about to come back for a second
series. I can't remember if you've
mentioned this Aussie show
before, but it's brilliantly
funny and worth watching. Can we
please do Colin from Accounts?
Have you not seen Colin
from Accounts? No, Julia
Davis recommended it the other day and she was saying
it's absolutely fab. And so can we do
Colin from Accounts? I've no idea what it's about don't sit there doing the julia davis recommended
this my bride and over a cup of tea did this me and james court i am very jealous of your job
but i've got to see it she was saying it's really good and i've heard from lots of people
it's really good should we do that one from lots of people. It's really good.
Shall we do that one?
Jo, I would love to.
I've watched all of Series 1.
It is absolutely amazing.
Series 2 is out now, so you start with Series 1.
I'll do Series 2.
It is absolutely incredibly good.
Amazing. Let's do it.
Thank you to those who've sent us voice notes
about your favourite reality TV moments.
This is the next theme for our What Shall We Watch? bonus episode.
And we want to know what iconic bit from reality TV you will never forget.
So send them in to us, please.
We love hearing from you so much at home.
So please do send us voice notes and messages on WhatsApp.
And we might even play them out in our episodes.
I met a lovely lady the other day
and she was saying that she was sending us voice notes.
She was so, so nice.
So please send more.
And the number is 0-3-3-0-6-7-8-4-7-0-4.
Oh, that's brilliant.
Well, listen, that's enough from us now.
Jo, I mean it.
Have a wonderful, wonderful rest of the week with Gavin and Stacey.
I'm thinking of you every day.
What is she up to?
She won't tell me.
I'm so proud of you.
I can't believe I now work with you.
You're iconic.
It's amazing.
And I just love the fact that you're filming the Christmas special.
Oh.
Well, I'm missing you so much.
And I can't wait until we meet up soon
and we're not stuck away from each other like this.
But this week we've been watching Changing Ends on ITVX,
007 Road to a Million on Amazon Prime
and Extraordinary on Disney+.
Thank you so much for listening
and we'll be back with more off the telly next Wednesday on BBC Sounds.
Bye!
Off the Telly is hosted by Natalie Cassidy and Joanna Page.
The producer is Georgia Keating.
The commissioning editor is Rhian Roberts and it's a BBC Studios audio production for BBC Sounds.
From BBC Radio 4 comes Doe,
examining the business behind profitable everyday products and what they might be like in the future.
I'm the entrepreneur, Sam White.
In each episode, I focus on things like TVs,
hairdryers or vacuum cleaners,
hearing firsthand from people who make them.
We still make products with DVD player built in.
You would be very surprised how many we sell.
Then our expert guests choose their favourite game-changing innovations
which shape the products in the past
before we follow the money to where they're going next.
Think of the TV, 98-inch or 100-inch.
Doe makes the mundane marvellous again.
Listen on BBC Sounds.
