Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.

our friend Derek Peth
First of all, we're in New York City
This is home base for you
This is home base
I actually work down the street
Oh, just right over here
Do you live in this area?
No, I didn't want to live and work in the same place
That's, I like that
That's a good call
Yeah
Some people think it's convenient
But I actually think it's nice to separate
Especially in New York
Yeah, because like you can stay
There's so much stuff in just like a two block radius
You can live staying in one place
Constantly and that's like not good
Although I mean Central Park is right here
which is super awesome.
And what's your commute time from?
Also, Jason's here.
Oh, hey, guys.
How are you?
I'm like 15 minutes.
So that's not bad.
Yeah, that's awesome.
Oh my gosh, 15 minutes.
Okay.
And what is it about New York that just fucks me up every time?
Like, I don't know what it is.
I'm like in Nashville.
I'm like, oh, I'll go to bed at 9.
Like, I'm like, we were just saying this that we haven't had like a 4 a.m.
night in, well, probably since we've met.
Every late night bender night we've had has been.
either Boston or New York.
It brings out the savage in us.
It really brings out the savage in everybody.
I was just talking to Jason about this the other day.
I've been sleeping like three hours a night this whole week.
So at this point,
I'm just become like a zombie.
Oh my gosh.
And then every,
and then so the key is you make it through like four or five days.
And then I think you get home and you go to bed at like 6 p.m.
And then wake up at 8 a.m. the next day on like taking the coffin cover off and you're good to go.
The coffin cover off.
I seriously, it's just, New York just kills me every time.
And yeah, but like in the best way, right?
In the best way.
Yeah, it is in the best way.
Like, I never have a terrible time and I don't regret it.
It's just the next day I'm always like, like today I'm supposed to have a serious workout at the dog pound.
And I'm like, well, that's not going to happen.
Like, that was very ambitious of me to think it was.
I mean, we already have drinks fired up.
Wait, what time is it?
It's 10.30 a.m.
My rule on Sundays for football is once it hits double digits, it's acceptable.
So we hit 10 o'clock, double digits.
We're good to go.
Oh, I like that rule.
our whole college rule is like you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning right yeah no I like that rule I'm headed to the airport later today anyway so I feel like this was inevitable that I was going to grab a couple yeah well and you knew you're coming on this podcast so that's like the whole thing like I feel like I didn't do my job right if I don't drink during a podcast and I woke up this morning because like just feeling like absolute garbage and Jay goes I think you're just going to need to do to have a drink and I was like oh there's no chance I
I'm not having a drink.
And then he walked in and you're like, should we all have a drink?
I'm like, yep.
Part of the crew.
Yes, please.
I made Caitlin do this at 10 a.m.
I feel like it was my fault in the first place.
Yeah, you really had to talk me into that one.
I was like, okay.
And just six hours ago, she was wearing her.
I don't give a fuck socks dancing in a club.
So it's been quite a six hour turn around.
So Jason and I went to the U.S. Open yesterday.
Yeah.
And very jealous of that, by the way.
Have you ever been?
No.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay.
I've like, I've always had something else going on.
Yeah, you have to go.
It was absolutely incredible and the Canadian one.
So that was very exciting.
But it's so funny because we're there and I'm like trying to look, you know, tennis chic.
And so I wear this cute little dress and a hat and then like little tennis sneakers and then I rocked these socks that say I don't give a fuck.
And it's so subtle.
I love that.
Yeah.
No, I love that.
It was the best.
I think Jason and I both are the kind of people who are like pretty pinned up for the most part.
Yeah.
So I get like I, I, this always made sense to me when you guys started.
Really?
Yeah.
We, we, I remember we talked about that when I first started dating Caitlin.
I told you.
And we talked about the fact where you kind of have this like polished, you know,
you banker finance background.
And then you said you too like to date girls that are like very independent and and have a little sass and just aren't the same as you.
Right.
So we always talk about a relationship.
It's like yin and yang.
Like I'm A, she's the way we dress, the way we act, the way we talk.
But I just like yesterday, I caught, we're in the suite, I look at her socks, I see
them and I just start dying laughing.
Like, you've got to be fucking kidding me.
I just, well, so you like edgy girls?
Totally.
Really?
That's my whole thing.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't like the looks is isn't, I don't have like a specific look.
I've dated like all the whole spectrum of.
That's Jason too.
Yeah.
It's not, it doesn't, that's not, as long as I'm attracted.
Like, yeah, yeah, of course, that is absolutely important.
Let's not, yeah.
That's number one thing to check.
Of course.
Let's be clear.
And anyone who says anything different is lying to you.
Lying, yeah.
But then after that, it's like, it's someone who's edgy who can tell me that I'm wrong when I'm wrong.
And, and but also it's like open minded because there's a fifth thin line of there of somebody who's just like straight up an asshole.
I could be an asshole sometimes, but.
Yeah, as long as it.
As long as it sometimes.
It's sometimes.
It's like, I get in a little.
moods where I can be an asshole sometimes but I am open minded but here's the here's the thing you say
you want girls that are going to like the first time I ever podcast with Jason he goes I want
someone who's going to tell me to shut the fuck up I think I told you to shut up yesterday and you
went ah he was like you do not tell me to shut up and I was like because it I mean I probably
shouldn't have but it's it's so funny because you say you want that but when you have it you
don't want that wait hold on hold on real quick did you
you tell you say that you wanted someone to tell you to shut the fuck up okay because this is an
important thing that connects back to me okay i'm i mean asked but like tell your part first no no no
okay so this has been a whole thing as i've been back on air and there have been like a ton
of people who keep tweeting like and tagging me in it or like posting on whatever different
things they're like don't forget this is the horrible terrible guy who said who told taylor
to fuck off on national TV.
And like the whole thing was
and like she's made a backhanded joke
that I didn't think was funny
and it was like pretty mean
and I was like fuck off.
Yeah.
Like in a funny,
in like a normal,
like to me that was normal communication.
Right.
Look, I live in New York.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like it's their daily vocabulary.
Yeah.
Exactly.
That means I love you
in a different in New York.
Exactly.
And unfortunately that's every other word
out of our mouth here
but that's just the way we talk.
And so I have a mother who's from.
Westchester and she is huge we have three boys in the family she stern hard nose and when
we were out of line she could tell us shut the fuck up and what I meant by that was like I need
someone that can kind of go toe to toe with me and tell when I'm wrong put me in my place and vice
versa right something that like we just have like a great independent strength where we work well
as a team but we can just be like open and honest with communication yeah I think I like I'm a person
who can bulldoze over people yeah if they don't like right put the put their
be like no yeah yeah yeah that's i think that i'd like that i don't want to i don't want to
bold over somebody because i'm like it's because i'm so independent like 32 years old i've been
single mostly for like a while yeah do you enjoy being single though not really oh you don't
i was a relationship person for like my whole younger life yeah yeah and um i mean honestly i think
the biggest reason is because i don't fucking trust anybody now yeah yeah on the tv show i hear that i hear that
that's I feel like Jason is not very jaded from that and I am and sounds like you could be too
I'm super jaded yeah me too that's actually the question I was going to ask if we could go into that so
because we had another similar connection up that's our postmates oh coffee's here
wait ask the question so the question is so I also lived in Seattle right and Caitlin went
in national and how long were you with how long were you and Taylor together and was that long
distance were you making the cross country commute well okay so I
I because I was had my nine to five yeah by the way I'm sorry the way he just like walked away
he was trying to rush but also in boots so he's trying to like it's like a burglar trying to be quiet
in someone's house why is he even wearing boots right now I don't know we just rolled out of bed
and he's wearing like dress shoes because he's Jason Tartner he is Jason Tarty beautiful man beautiful
bit um for the most part so i had i had a nine to five right like i'm uh was running an operations team
which means like you got to be a leader in front of people so it's like super hard for me to leave
um being up here in new york yeah and because of that um for the most part you know it was like
helping taylor come out here yeah um the long-term thing that a lot of people know this but the long-term thing
was was for for taylor to move out here um and you know it just like didn't work out yeah but uh i really i don't
I don't know. If you just spent much time in Seattle while Jay was living out there. Yeah.
I freaking love that town. Oh, you? Yeah. I love Seattle. I just don't think I could live there.
I love it too. I loved visiting. Jason lived there. He didn't not like it. He just, he's a very, well, he can explain it. But, you know, he's from Buffalo. And he's like a people's person. And he likes energy. And the city just doesn't have, like, crazy energy. But I like that.
It's chill. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Yeah, and I like that.
Ooh, post, okay, your breakfast sandwich has arrived, your black coffee.
And that's a solid, that's a solid order.
Wait, what's everyone's coffee order?
Okay, so my coffee order is Grande Americano with an inch of steamed almond milk.
Oh, my gosh.
But, okay.
Do you have a carry with you inch measuring little thing to make sure?
Yes, no, I don't.
But here's the thing.
I don't like a lot of almond milk.
So if I tell them, you know, here's what happened.
I always have to defend myself.
You had a bad experience.
No.
This is like no different than somebody.
It spelled my name of the seat.
No, it's to me, one of the baristas said once, I was like, oh, I just want like a splash
of steamed almond milk.
Like, I like a stronger coffee, but just a splash.
And he said to me, when you order, just order one inch.
Yeah.
So he's the one that started it.
The only place where you order one inch.
Okay.
Yes, sir.
what jason's order is a grande pike with cream and splenda wow you know even the type the pike
the pike yep and yours is just straight up black but do you have a preference on the coffee like
dark roast blonde roast pike i mean anything that's not dark roast i think the dark roast coffee
oh i got you dark roast just kidding i didn't just kidding i don't get i don't get got very often that's good
you got me um dark roast like it just tastes you taste in the back of your throat for like seven
hours after i kind of like that all right i'm going to say it i can't imagine having to go even one
day with my phone out of commission so the idea of it falling and breaking it's terrifying

jojo season just for a hot minute because that's the one you're on right yeah yeah do you wish you
were on mine just kidding i just kidding i just kidding i mean answer yes yeah you can't say no i'm i can hear
you um how did you end up on the show uh my little sister got me on the show oh she did yeah it's
kind of funny i told the story the other day um i kind of fuck boyed them like
unintentionally, you know, I just like, I, they called me, it was in the middle of my workday and this girl calls and she's like, hi, this is Kelly from The Bachelor. Are you still single? And I was like, this sounds like the radio morning shows, prank calls. Because she was such a person, like this very specific personality, the way she talked and everything. And I was like, okay, well, here's my email address. You can email me. Boom, hung up like immediately. No way. Yeah. And then. And then.
And then, you know, just like when they finally, when we talked, I think because I didn't care that much, whether I got on the show or not, they were just like, he's comfortable.
Yeah, right, right.
And then I got there and I was like, what did I get myself into?
Yeah.
And was the opposite of comfortable for the first night.
Well, of course.
I don't remember.
I, that was the season where it was right after mine and it was a little too soon for me.
You didn't really, yeah.
So I kind of was in and out, but I actually got my girlfriend to watch and tweet.
for me because I wanted to be supportive.
Yeah.
Because I wanted to be supportive, but it was Brie.
Did she say anything bad about you?
I actually, I didn't start on Twitter until after my season.
Yeah.
That's like, and I'm a hardcore tweeter now, but because that's where I get my thoughts out.
I think it's pronounced twatter.
Can you define hardcore tweeter?
Give me a definition.
What makes you a hardcore Twitter?
I think, I think the, an introductory tweeter is somebody who only does it when they're on the toilet.
oh that's an intro tweeter you know like they're finding this is this a thing are you making it
up okay yeah so what's the like this is where i need it now like i it's it's a drug for me i'm when
i have a thought that i know i have to get out of my brain because otherwise i'll think about it
and laugh about it for 10 minutes i'm like okay twitter here we go give me an average how many
tweets per day we talk actually you know what i'm i'm not uh
You're not consistent.
No, I'll go with like zero for two days and then I'll hit like 17 in an hour.
That's me.
That's me too.
I'm a very inconsistent to it.
Me too.
That's, I'm like that with everything.
Instagram, Twitter.
I go, I'm like, oh, I'm going to take a couple days off.
And then I'm like making up for lost time when I get back.
Exactly.
That's so funny.
Okay.
And then did you enjoy being on The Bachelorette or Paradise Better?
Paradise is so much better.
Yeah, I keep hearing that.
Yeah.
And neither of you guys have that experience.
No.
I think it's just because it's more like hanging out, you know?
Yeah.
So like on Bachelor and Bachelorette, you don't get that.
It's just very like you can't see them or talk to them unless it's on camera and unless it's a date where this you just get to hang out with everybody all the time.
And it's almost more, well, at least my season, especially at The Bachelorette was super combative.
Like the guys were all like Tarzanie, pounding their chest, trying to.
It was like everyone was trying to beat each other.
No.
And that I even woke.
I woke up twice from Naps.
from random ass naps in the middle of the day.
I loved napping on that show.
No responsibility.
Yeah, yeah, it's the best.
You have the best naps on that show.
Oh, for sure.
Because you have nowhere else to be.
No phone.
You cut away, exactly.
You cut away from the rest of life.
And it's back to like when you're in elementary school.
Yeah.
And you could nap and just have zero requirements for afterward.
Yeah.
But I woke up a couple different times to some of the guys being like strategizing how they
were going to take someone down.
No.
And I woke up going, what the fuck?
are you guys that's this is so sad that you're taking it to this point like it's not big brother right
right game where the 500,000 prize at the end like what the hell yeah like what are they
strategizing either you like the girl and she likes you right or not yeah but that's that doesn't make
good to be i remember i found this slip from jean blanc he was this guy on our season and it said
500 pushups and then 500 k and i asked him i said what what is this well uh um i well um i
every day I do 500 pushups
I was like okay well what's this 500
K about
um
well and he like
was stumbling I'm like can you tell me what this is
it was I think he got
to it it was like 500,000
followers oh no
he was not a sheet of paper
I could not no
and when I you know
he was like doing the secret thing
when I started creating the future
manifesting talking to him somebody
and like I'm like what the hell
when I went on the show I think I had two posts
500 followers i didn't even know i didn't know what that meant i had me he went into it with
posts yeah i had like a thousand i was trying to i was trying to build a brand before i even went on
the show bachelor's or not you were going to find a reality tv show yeah i was were you yeah well i just
it was it wasn't even about reality tv it was like i just wanted um i actually really wanted
to be on big brother to be honest okay i tried out for big brother you did on accident beforehand
And, well, like, I didn't go seeking that one either.
My friend, they reached out to her.
And she, like, couldn't during that time.
She was like, you really need to talk to this guy, Derek.
And I went and interviewed with them and made it to, like, the last round.
No.
Yeah.
I just never, I didn't do the show.
Oh, I didn't even get a call back.
I had never watched it before.
Really?
Yeah.
So that probably didn't help your cause because they like super fans.
Yeah, they do.
Exactly.
I didn't understand the content.
I was like, well, probably I would do this, but I don't really know.
So I've never watched the show.
Kate got it me and do it this summer.
And I'm,
literally obsessed with it and I think you would be really good on it right you have to have you
have to have I think a good IQ but also a good EQ so I'm curious what was the interview was it
kind of like the bachelor at bachelor interview or no no it was way more in depth because the bachelor
interview they like ask you the thing about the thing about the bachelor interview is right they just
ask you by yourself it's it's like the easiest interview ever compared to like a job interview
because you're basically like your story yeah there's no wrong answers exactly exactly
Exactly, you're just, it's just about you.
Right.
And the Big Brother one, they like, they really wanted to get, it was more of a job interview.
They wanted to get an understanding of like how you problem solve and how you, have you stirred things up before, you know, and so I like try to think of things that I had.
And they sent you some of the questions ahead of time that, or at least, you know, I got some.
But it was way more like difficult.
I think they really try to find, like they really plan that show.
Yeah.
To be personalities that will, like, clash and not work with each other.
Well, yeah, of course.
Every season is the same on that show, too,
where there's, like, the quirky nerd, an older guy.
There's, like, usually two hot guys, two hot girls.
There's, what else do they have?
Usually, like, a gay guy or a girl.
Like, every season, it's the same formula.
The office when Michael's doing an amazing race.
Remember that?
Do you guys, are you guys office?
I actually love the office.
but I don't know that one
but I'm like very in and out
like I don't they're going out
to do a sales blitz
and they're like
he's like
you're the mother daughter combo
you're the gay couple
you're the
and then he's like
and we're the firefighters
wait
I actually do think
I might have seen that one
and people always tell you
you look like Jim right
yeah
yeah I never got so I
I'll have to show you guys this later
one of my good friends
from college
I think looks more like him
really so because of that
like I never got it
he always got it
so once the show
came on I was like this is a thing
I guess this is a thing
I'll lead into it
yeah well everybody loves Jim
exactly I would take Jim over the douchebag
from ten things I hate about you
yeah Andrew Keegan
but that yeah but it doesn't matter that he's a douchebag
he's a hot douchebag so at least
you like they're not saying you act like him
he's hot
wear blazers and sleep my hair back like
you literally are Andrew Keegan you went through a hair change
I went through a hair change yeah
I remember
journey and I didn't even follow you I just remember it was such a thing like everyone's
like oh Jason needs to cut his hair and I was like no I liked it and then you cut it and I was
like well I got to go creep him on Instagram now and I went and looked I was like oh yeah it looks
really good maybe that was what my I got to show my brother's like Kaylin was like scrolling
through for a hour she's like oh yeah that was really good and really she was like um
come to mama and then I was like oh he only has five posts yeah and he has no idea what
he's doing that was like my thing when I got to show I really
Really? I had no idea. So I was posting these pictures. People were like, dude, are these from like a fucking Motorola razor phone? Like they were all chopped up. I didn't know how to do a caption. What I meant? Even when I first met you, you would take screenshots of photos of yourself and then post them with like the black borders. And it just like, I was like, oh, that's so cute. This guy doesn't get it.
I love it. Which I liked. That's so genuine though, right? Yeah, it was. I, I'm getting better. Yeah, but I don't like that.
I like miss your little like naive ways on Instagram where it's still very naive
Every six one you should throw it in
Yeah just like that should be your thing where you just have like one shitty photo every like six photos
That yeah that's funny um okay so did you watch the season back uh yeah i've i've watched every season
yeah the very first ones were super weird and hard too i was like yeah i was getting very drunk
before watching them just to cut my anxiety down yeah and like the first time you watch it is
like it's just not not anything anybody else can understand right it's like uh it's like listening
to your voicemails back you know like you freaking hate listen yeah yeah no i love my voice
do you really yeah you listen Kayla's like listening to her podcast I like fall asleep to my own
podcast no but I do I like the sound of my own voice but go on okay I think most people I hate
the sound of their own voice yes you're right and then that's like that time's a
billion because you're also watching your face and you're like oh my face does that
you yes you realize so many things that you do where you're like oh and then and on top of that
you have the world tweeting you about things that you do that you didn't realize you did like
i thought i had great teeth until i went on that show and i've great teeth now because i fixed
them but i was everyone was like oh she's got fangs and like everyone chirped my teeth and then
I did something about it, and now I'm very happy with them, but it was, you don't realize things
until you're on TV and seeing yourself fat. All right, so we all know how important it is to eat

And I thought that everyone got to edit that pretty much aligned with the way they acted. Right. So do you think that what you saw back from yourself and everyone else kind of aligned with like your general idea of how things went? I love that you say that. I've always gone in hard on people that of course little things are different. And but like if we if if if if it could be all there's this thing that they cut out.
well yeah the show isn't about you dude yeah the whole show is a different show it's not quit being so narcissistic
yeah yeah um like i over i there's of course little things that people can always complain about but
like people who say that their whole personality is represented differently that is such a bullshit
excuse or like when they say something really really shitty that they did say and then they try to make it like
oh well no no no no no but like this and this and this yeah and oh the editors no they didn't put words in your
mouth. That's just something that people, I think, it's like an easy out for the people who are the
biggest fans of them or whatever. Yeah. No, you're so right.
Air quote fans, because I don't know what that really means. But the people who will, who will instantly
when they're like, oh, well, that was the editors go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, that makes sense.
We love you. Yeah. Well, that's a topic I always talk about on the podcast is the editing because
they get, like you said, they can edit things and splice it and make situations, you know,
maybe seem different than they were,
but you can't change what comes out of your mouth
or your, like, douchebag personality.
Yeah, exactly.
You know, like you can't, you can't edit that.
But, so, wait, obviously we're going to talk about your drama with JPJ.
He apologized to Crystal and Chris on Instagram.
Yeah.
Why did he do it on Instagram and not call them personally?
Or did he?
Or what's going on there?
Tell me everything.
Are you saying that because you saw my comment?
I didn't see your comment.
Did you really not?
I did not see your comment.
You literally just said the same thing that my comment was.
Oh, no, I did.
I just knew that I knew that he apologized because someone told me.
I didn't see your comment.
We got to go find this later then.
Okay.
Yeah, I actually called him out on that because there's been ample time for him to like talk, talk with them, talk to them.
And they've done like a bunch of interviews on this.
So people can, this is not like spoilers.
People can go look on the 20 different YouTube videos that have them talking about this as well.
You know, I, like, I didn't feel like I needed to apologize, but I did need to, like, apologize for being a part of that because, like, it came, it came on to me, but I still wanted to.
So I reach out to them on my own, like, right after the show and even got dinner with them one night and just, like, just to, you know, catch up on how their relationship is going and stuff.
And they're, they're such a funny, quirky, weird couple.
They really are.
They're the most unique couple I have ever met.
They really are.
They do.
And they work.
exactly like it just works and i like i've told them to to their face i'm just like you two are so weird
yeah there's no other way that anybody else could have met either of me just like found the right
yeah combo um they laugh about it yeah yeah yeah and and like they were super pissed that he
hadn't talked to them at all oh they were okay so to me i mean i think and this is exactly what i say
i think that's just like publicly trying to save face look at the timing of it right you
had time to think about what you've said what you did um you've seen the rest of the show at that
point because like you know like you get the clips or whatever and and um it isn't intel then
people start sending you messages right that are negative right that now you're like oh how do I handle
this I'm going to apologize publicly yeah but not reach out to them just didn't reach out to them
that's so bizarre to me I don't know for sure I can't I can't 100% say that right exactly but
I it wasn't stated in there right it was basically just like a save face apology so you said that
did he respond to you no oh that all thing was just so funny just because you remind me a lot of
jason in certain ways and how you handle situations and that situation with john paul jones like
he's obviously just like very he reacts emotionally and i don't think he thinks things through
like he just reacts where you can like have the conversation and try and get to the bottom of
things yeah and i just found that so interesting to watch because i was like
oh my gosh,
Jason would have handled that
the exact same way.
I thought the example.
When I was watching it,
I'm like,
that is exactly how you handle it,
right?
You cannot fight fire with fire,
especially when you don't understand
the fire coming at you.
Well, yeah,
exactly.
And you're just like,
take it,
like I'm here to discuss
each one of these things
and maybe I did say it.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe it's taken out of context.
But like,
can you talk to me and stop yelling
and repeating the same three sentences
over and over and over.
We're not moving forward.
Yeah.
That's the thing when people just can't move forward.
Like,
let's get somewhere with this.
Yeah,
Like, let's not just sit here and yell, let's get somewhere if we're going to do this.
Well, it's clear, like, his goal of getting somewhere was getting me kicked out of there.
Yeah.
Like, it's very clear.
Yeah.
Because he was so smug, like, when I left, you know.
Because he wanted, because he was the competition with Tasia.
Yeah.
So he wanted you gone.
Look, if that's how people want to handle getting a relationship.
Yeah, right.
That's a good short-term plan.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Yeah.
That's, that's my thought.
So one thing I, I've always like, like, like watching J.P.
DJ and on Hannah's season and on here.
I always loved them.
I'm like, this guy's hilarious.
He's funny.
He's goofy.
He doesn't care.
But then that episode, it was like this 180 happened.
Now, the 180 I saw, was it that quick, just a switch flipped?
Or was it kind of progressing?
Or is that kind of who he is?
I don't know.
I, like, honestly, I don't know the guy that well.
And that's like, that's the tough thing is even having hung out or been around him for so long.
I still don't still think I know him.
I think even like just looking at it as a viewer and because of course I felt like
the exact same way to me it was like early on it wasn't serious like nothing was serious
it was all like surface thin and surface thin it's hilarious like you're laughing along with
it you're going but then once it starts to get into like serious emotional stuff
it just I don't know I don't know why but for whatever reason he's not like there for it
Not ready for it.
Right.
How old is he?
He's 24.
Okay.
Okay. And there's our answer.
All right.
I recently spoke on Drunk Dial about getting back in shape, which isn't about losing weight
to me.
It's about feeling better about yourself, having more energy, and even being in a better mood.
So that's why I'm excited about using Noom.
My favorite thing about using Noom so far has been that they don't try to make you feel
guilty when you want to have a little cheat meal or cheat day, which I definitely had on
Sunday.
It's all about being balanced and doing what's best for you personally.
I'm really, really trying to use food and exercise to control my stress and anxiety,
and it's been helpful having Noom as part of this journey to get back on track.
The app is super easy to use, and you even have a goal specialist who is there to help you
with anything you need.
It's really great.
You guys know I'm super busy, like always on the go, but Noom asks you to commit just 10
minutes a day.
That's it.
Seriously, anyone could make this app work in their busy schedules.
Also, it's important to know that Noom isn't about dieting.
It's about a healthy and easy to stick to way of life.
They teach you moderation and just being the healthiest version of yourself.
Neum is based on psychology.
It teaches you why you do the things that you do,
and it arms you with the tools to break the bad habits
and replace them with even better ones.
It's science, yo.
You don't have to change it all in one day.
Small steps make big progress.

Now back to Off the Vine with Caitlin Bristow.
Who would you say you're rooting for on the season of Paradise?
What couple are you rooting for?
Demi and Christian.
Yeah.
Oh, you are?
Yeah.
I think we all are.
They're so cute.
My question with that is, too, what do you think about them staying on Paradise, knowing that they already want to be together, not leaving together and just staying?
What's your thought on that?
You know, there were so many responses I got after that happened.
And, like, my way of looking at it, first of all, at the time, and I've always thought this way.
Like, you can't make someone be in a relationship with you.
Right.
So if she felt something else, it was like, okay, getting to like, where do we, what's the next step?
You got to move on.
and like what's the relevancy if she's there or not it's going to be the same thing and it actually
helped me move on way faster okay so I think thankful for that yeah honestly maybe like the whole
thing would have gone differently because if I wasn't forced to move on right I wouldn't have been
able to be like okay you know what I can get my shit together that's true and bounce into something
else so like you can see it as a negative but I think you can see it as just as much of a positive
like if I just like personalize it and frankly that show is so heteronormative great we get we get to see like a whole different view and a whole different evolution of a relationship that's that's that's like it's the thing that people have to hide right so um being a straight white man yeah I really don't have to hide shit in my life right I walk around and get to do whatever and never have to think about anything here's like
Like, you know, a, you know, a homosexual couple.
Yeah.
I don't want to say lesbian because, like, because Demi has described herself as, like, fluid and bio.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
But who now is dealing with, like, well, wait a minute.
How are other people going to see this?
And what is this person going to think?
And, you know, I have a bunch of gay friends here in New York because that's just thankful, like an appreciative of being able to see all these different lifestyles.
Yeah.
And talking with them.
after this has come out and they're like they're opening up to me and they're just like yeah it's so
great that um that this is being put in front of the world and showcasing how difficult it is
to even just like walk down the street and hold hands yeah because you know I can walk down the
street and hold hands in a straight couple yeah and people will just be like cool that's good
whatever and then there's a gay couple walking and you know what there's 15 people per block
that like turn and look at them with a gross look yeah that's so like we don't that's
That is this, this word privilege that I know, like, people are still understanding what that, what that means.
But that is the most straightforward example of something that we just, like, think is normal.
And here's this other couple that wants to express themselves in the same way.
And you just feel normal.
You just feel normal.
Yeah.
That's a baseline.
Like, can we just feel normal?
Yeah.
That's, so that's my thought process on it, too, where I actually love that we get to see their relationship play out.
And I hate that people question them or that Tanner,
made these comments because I'm like we want to see their relationship and like you're rooting for
them we're rooting for them and if they were gone we'd all be like what we miss them right yeah and
I think it is so important that the show's evolving and getting with the times and being able to
to share their story and you know have people because it's a lot of middle America watching
this show and a lot of people who would give them the looks and it just might open up their
eyes a little bit to how they are feeling on the other end I totally
agree. Yeah. And the only thing I can add, so we're, I mean, we're here sitting doing this podcast in my brother and his husband's place. They just celebrated their fourth year anniversary together, which is amazing. But I totally agree to piggyback off what you said. I think as a viewer, we kind of, they owe it to us to show how that plays out. I agree. And more importantly, I think I gave the toast for my brother's four year anniversary, watching my brother and his husband, I literally don't think I've ever seen a healthier couple. The way they laugh, the way they compliment each other, the way they challenge each other, the way they love.
love each other, communicate.
And I think that I've, gay, straight, bisexual, queer, whatever, transgender.
Like, at the end of the day, it's about happiness and healthy relationships and what's going
to make you a better person and give back in a better way to the world, right?
And I think, and I can't wait to see it, we're going to see that.
And everyone else is going to see that.
And it's going to be fun to share that.
It doesn't matter which way or what your sexuality is or what's going on.
It's like the happiness within two people.
And like, I can't wait to continue to see that.
story i'm like i want to see more of it right so i'm happy they stay same
me too that's i can't wait to see more of it like i'm gonna be sad when it's over when i watch
big brother i get so invested in the people on the show that sometimes i'm creepy enough to watch
the live feeds when they're just like hanging out and like 24 hours yeah i like pay for cbs all
access like i'm like a weirdo and then when it's over i'm like what are they doing like instagram
Instagram stories isn't enough for me.
I want to tune in every.
You know what?
They need their own TV show after this.
No, because maybe they don't want that.
Maybe they want to go back to just regularly.
Especially Christian is so funny.
She's, I mean, you could tell even just watching her how much she was like not ready to be on TV.
Right.
Because she's, there's so many times where she's like so uncomfortable with the fact that there's a camera there.
I know.
We're also used to it.
I love that.
That makes it so real too.
I agree.
I agree that.
We've talked about like breaking down the fourth wall with certain.
things I love when we see the cameramen or producers coming into the shots. And for that, I'm like,
I just like when things are more, it's reality television. Like, I like when things are more real and
relatable. And I love watching her because you're like, this is genuine. I totally agree. Yeah, it's
super genuine. And I just, I just love that the show's evolving. Like, I love that we're talking about
sex. I love that we have same sex relationships and all of that. Both of those things. I mean,
you were a huge part of that, though, Caitlin, because you, I think this show itself has like lived
too long on the what's the perfect picture from frankly like the 50s or 60s or whatever like
the madman picture right the but the outside picture because madman itself showed us how
fucked up the internal side of that was right and that like this outside is what it needs to
look like whatever and i think you are the first one to just be like super honestly yourself and
like i loved that watching that um that is something that i think they've gone away from a little bit
again and we're like starting to get it new now yeah i like we overanalyze so many things that
people on the show do um as somebody on the show this is maybe me bitch you a little bit too
but i think like i think there's so many fuckups that people have in normal life that are just
like unacceptable right on this show and the truth is that we're just all normal people we're human
beings our mistakes are just on tv yeah exactly and this idea that like and some of them are not
mistakes, by the way. It's just how we would navigate relationships. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
I think that's the biggest problem. It's not that when you make mistakes, it's that when things that shouldn't be seen as mistakes, because you're on this show or on television, they're like, well, how could they do that? That's a mistake. And yet then the same exact person who's saying that just went and did that two days before, you know, like that kind of. It's like their little like escape to be able to say like, oh, shame on them and and not take, you know, responsibility themselves.
And there is, if you look at season to season, there is an overlying arching theme of double standards and hypocrisy, right?
Like one season, one thing happens and it's acceptable.
The next season, the same thing happens.
And it's like, shame, shame, shame.
And it's tough to keep up with like what's acceptable and what's not, what isn't acceptable.
That's a good Game of Thrones reference there, Jay.
That's so funny.
I still am on season three.
I really need to get back to that.
Oh, okay.
And then speaking about evolving, you have proven yourself to be evolved.
And not a question, but just something I wanted to point out, that after you break up with Taylor, you talked openly about going to therapy and taking care of your mental health in general.
Is this something you still do on a regular basis or is it something you needed to do to just get through a hard time in your life?
You know, I haven't, I've yet to, I've been living in the city now for five months.
I've yet to like find my new therapist.
Yeah.
I need to.
Yeah.
want to and something that I think like everybody should do it's just like I go to one I love
going to my therapist I like skip in there I always say that I just skip in so I love going yeah
it's it's so weird how um talking to somebody else for like as a man has been seen as negative and
like I don't know I I guess I grew up in a in a world my mom is is like a spiritual life coach
right so she speaks to people and guides their lives like on a daily basis so I've always been
felt very open just like talking about my life and talking about like emotional emotions and
feelings um and i never got this idea personally as to why like it was more manly to not do that
right well because you just like you grew up knowing that that it was okay yeah yeah um so i
like i mean personally yeah i i want to find another one i think everybody should everybody
needs therapy everybody we all have so much stuff going on our lives we're all humans yeah my
So my thought on this is we look at Instagram and people work for these perfect bodies and they go to the gym and they run and they work out.
But people don't work on the most important organ in their body, which is their brain.
Yeah.
And for some reason, there is like this societal, I don't know, stereotype that if you go to therapy, you have a problem.
It's not that you have a problem.
It's that you're literally working out the most critical part of your everyday life, which is your brain.
So I think, you know, again, we just fucking agree on everything.
I know we do, Jay.
I'm all pro-therapy, and I mean, mental health is the most important health, especially today.
I agree.
And I don't, like, I think now in this time, it's starting to be more of a conversation
where it's becoming more acceptable to talk about.
And I think that's going to do really well for the show as well, because people love hearing
other people talk about their emotions.
But I do agree.
It's just like it's still not.
it should be with but but we are talking about it and like here we are talking about it right now
and being open about it and I just I agree with you I think no matter like you said it's not that
you have a problem well yeah you do we all have problems it's we all have problems that we need to
talk about and you would be surprised what you would learn about yourself from going to therapy like
I just from going for how many years now like four years after the show I've learned so much
about myself that I didn't even realize and like how to react different
Like I learned that I was never really taught to cope growing up my mom and my dad always wanted to take care of things and it was just always they would fix things and I was never really and that's not on them.
They were just being great parents, but I never really understood how to cope.
Then I got to therapy and I'm trying to work through all these things and she goes, oh, you have no coping skills.
And I was like, whoa.
Like you always have those moments in therapy.
We were like, holy, you just cut to the core of me.
Oh, yeah.
It's like a buildup and then all of a sudden like a realise, a huge.
realization right yeah and i don't know much about this but like are so are you and taylor fine now or
do you guys just not even talk we just don't talk yeah yeah that's yeah it's better that way anyways
i have i mean this i think every relationship ends differently because i have yeah of course
like very close with people still like good friends and then there's others where it's just like don't
even don't even talk at all it's not i don't think it's about how sometimes people handle all
relationships the same but like i think every relationship is different and you shouldn't just like
create a rule and make that your rule.
So going into Paradise, at any point, did you think she was going to come down on the steps?
I had that written down.
I was really, I didn't, I was hopeful that they wouldn't incorporate her into the show.
I did know that, like, she was dating somebody at that, at that time.
Oh, okay.
Still is now, I guess.
Oh, okay.
I mean, I don't really know.
Yeah.
What do you mean?
You're not following her and stalking her life.
Getting on my separate Instagram account.
What are they called?
Finsta, finsta.
That's what they call it.
What is, what's Finsta?
I don't know.
I've been seeing it talked about.
It's like where you create a side account.
It's a fake one.
So it's like the troll accounts.
Oh, I hate it.
Yeah.
That's where I saw it being talked about when they were like talking about trolls.
I'm like, bring on all the trolls too because you're just giving me my, you're getting my engagement up.
There needs to be a V for Vendetta of Instagram that finds out like who every single troll is and just like brings them to like.
I heard they're trying to come up with a show like that.
Like the catfish.
thing like I heard they're trying to come up with a show where they find trolls and go and call them out, which would be absolutely incredible. Oh, for sure. But then they'd have to sign contracts saying yes, I'll be on TV and who would want to do that to themselves. Some people. Some people want attention. So maybe, yeah. They're little five minutes of fame or whatever. And at all different levels, we've all been internet bullied. And it's like real. And like your heart sinks. You kind of feel shitty about yourself. Like that's a real. Jason, you do you do not get any hate on social media. Everybody freaking loves you. I think you're all. Any of us.
Caitlin got the most I you know it's funny too as I've said this before is that the bullying
actually didn't really phase me until recently which you would think it would be the other way
but I was just like holy crap I came out this TV show like of course people are going to hate me
of course people are going to have their opinions and I actually found it so funny going through
I was like oh my god I can't believe people are so close minded and like it always blew my mind
I found it fascinating, where now I'm like, wait, you've gotten to know me and I've been like,
you know, like, now you know me, you just saw me on TV, sure, think whatever you want.
Now you know me and you know who I am and now you're hurting my feelings, which is, I mean,
sometimes I hurt my feelings, yes.
Sometimes I find it so funny though.
You got to like, the toughest thing about that stuff is there's so much positive.
And then there's just like one little, one little bomb can be dropped.
And you know what the thing is?
Always pull on the strings of your, like, biggest insecurity.
Of course.
So it's not, it's not the fact that some troll, like, said something.
It's the fact that some troll picked up on something that you're, like, uncomfortable about.
They found that one thing.
Yeah.
Exactly.
That's, that's exactly right.
Those are the ones that bother me is when they find that one thing that I'm like, God,
you've just proven my insecurity to be true.
You've pointed it out.
Now I know that other people see it.
I thought maybe it was just in my head, but nope, it's real.
We got to get into the confessions.
It's always my favorite part of every person.
podcast and now that I've fed you some alcohol and you know we've we've been like really opening up here
now you have to confess that's what that was for yes yes this is how I this is why alcohol is involved
in my podcast because I really like lube you up for a good confession I appreciate a good loob
yeah I knew you would most people do yeah you're welcome go on thank you go on with your
confession do you have a confession do I have a confession um
I'll tell you my confession, it's not that good.
But I'm so old and sore all the time.
And like my knees cramp up on planes.
And this morning I realized I pulled a hamstring just from dancing last night.
I pulled like it hurts.
I don't even like to get up off this couch right now.
Like I literally pulled a muscle just from and I wasn't going for it.
I was not.
Oh, I was dropping it low.
You're a dancer, aren't you?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I grew up dancing my whole.
I love dancing.
That's the reason why I like staying out in New York
because we can just go dancing until 4 in the morning.
And I just, I'm like, I'm burning cows.
I'm having fun and I get to dance.
But I definitely pulled a muscle.
You lubed up too.
You were lubed up before dancing.
Or are we talking about like lubed up like alcohol?
Yeah, why did I do that?
Why did I start that?
Yeah.
We got to keep it going now.
Drop it and not expect to keep going.
Yeah, well, I thought it was a one-time thing.
thing. Like, like, when it came out of my mouth, I was like, I lubed you up and I was like,
oh, I just have said that. Now we're hanging on to it. I'm getting lubed. Is that a, is that a
thing though? Do people say we're getting lubed up? Because I'm going to now. Now we need to.
It's a thing. Everybody go get lubed up on spayed and sparrows. Shemless plug. That's going to be
your new copy on your, on your ads. That'll be on the back. Loub up. You know what? I'm like, we're
joking. We were kind of joking around there, but I'm kind of into this idea. It's like it's the right amount of it's not too weird. It's pretty weird. I know, but it's not too weird. Right. It's like it kind of makes sense. Like, Jason, are you uncomfortable? I'm loving it. Do you have a confession, Jason? No, I don't have a different. Of course he doesn't. I'll think of one. I'll think of one. I can think of one for you. It's funny. So I was going through your like toiletry kit and I found.
Makeup.
Oh.
And I was like, why do you have makeup in here?
And he was like, oh, and you got all like panicky.
And you ended up, what was it?
You had a zit or something that you wanted to cover up on TV.
No, no.
They get, this is the story.
So there's like, it's the powder stuff.
Okay.
You know, the powder.
First of all, very greasy.
So you can understand, relate to this.
So I have.
But it's not powder.
It's not powder.
It's the liquid under eye.
It's two-faced.
It's a great brand.
Uh.
I don't know
I think it's funny that he doesn't know
I'm like I have powder
So they used to powder me
Because I get so sweaty
Yeah
Like I sit here I get sweaty
That's how I am
So I literally
I still have the powder kit
That they would powder me all the time
You had
It's a brand called two-faced
Under Eye Concealer
Let's go see it
No it's it
No here's the funny part
Is I stole it from you
And I use it all the time
And I'm obsessed with it
But it was a liquid
Under Eye Concealer
What did I say?
What was the reason?
You had a Zit or something or like, I can't remember.
You had a Zit and you were just, look at like, it's not a big deal, but you're like,
oh, uncomfortable.
Why are you so uncomfortable about this?
It's not a big deal.
Like so many people who go on TV or come off TV have photo shoots, do interviews.
Of course you have makeup, but it was just funny to see that.
And then it was funny to see you panic and it still is now.
I get the funny thing about so, like the very first time I ever had makeup on my face was when we did the
Bachelorette the first night.
Yeah.
Because then they don't do anything.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
They kind of like powder you up before you go in.
Yeah.
And I was the first person of the day.
Yeah.
So I did it at like 10 a.m.
And got it on.
And no joke,
like two hours later,
I just was,
I couldn't take it.
So I don't know how you girls wear makeup all day long.
I was so annoyed by it.
Yeah.
And I just like wash my face off.
And they're like,
makeup is so annoying.
So you don't,
there's not like one TV program that you'll do that you won't get makeup for it.
Exactly.
There's not one,
like,
you always do.
understand it you don't have to justify yourself has this you don't you're fine has this
inspired you to confess i think it is too just because of uh you know you need to put more
powder on your family we're gonna powder you up we're gonna be so sweaty gosh thanks jay i'll steal yours
no uh my so all right here here's gonna be my confession um so i i tweeted like about a week ago
that i had lost my remote three weeks before that yeah hadn't found it yet
I still hadn't.
And yesterday I found it in my microwave.
In your microwave?
In your microwave?
So, but the thing is, the funny thing is that everyone's like reply has been,
oh, you're such a man for like, wow, that look at how much you cook.
Oh my gosh.
People are so funny.
The truth is my building actually has had its gas shut off because they had to replace
all the gas pipes in my building.
Okay.
So I've just been postmates to every day.
Start with my life.
For like the last month straight, which is why I didn't open the microwave for the entire time.
Yeah.
Because I was just like eating whatever I bought that day on postmates.
And girls are like, he's such a man.
Yeah.
So the opposite.
Everyone was like, by my cooking is not microwaving.
No, exactly.
Oh, no.
They were saying that like, oh, you use the oven instead of the microwave because it was in there for like basically a month.
Oh, I get it.
I get it.
Yeah.
So I didn't use my microwave for like basically a whole month.
And they thought it was because I was cooking on this dope top.
But really, you were just postmate and everything?
How did it get to the microwave?
I do not remember.
Were you hammered or something?
Yeah, how did it get there?
It could have been, like, but you know, it's one of the, you know what?
I probably did actually, now that you say that.
You were heating up your postmates.
Wait a minute.
I do this thing.
There's a subway like right next to my apartment.
Yeah.
And I'll get a footlong meatball sub.
Yeah.
And cookies.
Yeah.
I think subway cookies are the best.
They're the best.
Best ever.
White macadam.
me a nut um i'm like more of a fan of the chocolate chip okay fair but those are those are my
number two that's my backup okay and i'll microwave them so what i was probably doing was i was probably
drinking i want a microwave just like just like nine just like nine seconds yeah no no no no no
10's too much but i don't like that you do nine i need it i need even numbers oh you need
so would eight be enough i do the odd numbers what yeah like when you're turning up volume and
you're like yes oh my god isn't it weird that
that we do this stuff and like my my phone alarms will be 801 and 803 if I'm like
waking up at oh that like bothers me I've never met a odd number really are you left
handed no oh I don't know why that was good that weird sorry left-handed I always no I always
wanted to be left-handed because I thought that was like a quirky personality trait and I was like
well I want to be left-handed I just thought it was cool I've always been jealous of left-handers
too me too I feel like they're very creative people
My brother's left-hander.
Exactly.
I could totally tell your brother was a left-hander.
Okay, well, I was hoping your confession was going to be like you found the remote like up your butt or something good.
But a microwave, okay.
I mean, that would be a surprising fine.
Well, usually people's confessions are like, you know, everyone's poop in their pants.
Everyone's very raunchy.
So thank you for that nice little G-rated confession.
And if you think of anything better, let me know.
Next time we'll get a good one.
Yeah.
Didn't loop them up enough.
Didn't loom up enough.
it's too early it's too early for the ron she can lube more right okay lesson learned uh jason
next time you pour drinks for my guests could you loop them up a little more um okay we're
gonna play one game ask maybe three questions from listeners and then we'll be done okay so which
of the following for you this is the deal breaker game which of the following would be
relationship deal breakers for you okay she leaves mean comments on celebrities instagram photos
Is that a deal breaker?
Oh, I get each one.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't.
Yes, that's a deal breaker.
Yeah.
That's an easy deal breaker.
I think so too.
Okay.
One funny one, you can relate to this.
I'm seeing a bar stool video of John Mayer do this hilarious thing.
And I go to the comments in the first one that appears, it's Kaylor.
This is so hot.
I'm like, what the fuck's wrong with this?
I love that.
Is that, so it's, is it a deal breaker that I, that I say nice comments on celebrities' photos?
Jesus Christ.
It was John Mayer and he did, I love John Mayer and he did this thing that was hot.
And I said, hot.
I would, I would, I would comment the same thing.
John Mayer's hot, okay.
Yeah.
If you comment, uh, if you commented, well, wait, it depends.
If it was like a porn star, I'd be like, maybe don't.
Yeah, that's a different thing.
Yeah, but if it was like a funny celebrity, I would be like, fair.
If I ever commented on.
attractive woman's
Instagram saying hot
you would never say fair
I'm calling you all right I bet he's right
okay but wait if it was
okay here's an example
did you see Haley Baldwin
do the like thing where she
spun the top off the water bottle and she was
like backwards on a quad
and did it with her foot
that was hot
and if you said hot
and it was on bar stool
I would hate you
wait I just thought about it
Yeah.
I just thought about it.
And I was like, wait, I actually wouldn't like that.
Because I'm like, well, wait, because I was like, well, I think it's hot.
So you can.
And then when I said it out loud, I was like, wait, no, I wouldn't like that.
Okay, fair.
I deleted it, though.
I did delete it.
Okay.
She doesn't know the difference between your Y O U.R and your Y O UR.
So my Twitter bio is literally Y O U apostrophe R.
No, it's not.
It is.
Okay.
So that's a deal breaker.
That's a definite deal breaker.
That's my...
Maybe I subconsciously saw that and made that a question.
My misspelling those is my like biggest pet peeve.
I know.
I don't understand.
My little sister is a teacher by the way.
She does.
She screws those up all the time.
But she's like, well, it's just because I don't care.
I'm texting.
Oh, I'm like mortified if I make that mistake.
Oh, me too.
I will immediately fix it.
And I'll be like, I know the difference.
It was not.
I always blame it on the auto correct.
Mm-hmm.
The biggest issue.
if you don't know the difference.
Oh, for sure.
If you call someone, I'm like, oh, I've messed up.
Same thing with the there, there, and there.
Then and then.
Yes, I've learned that.
That's a huge one.
Yes, I actually just learned that in the last few years,
and I've very, very conscious of it now.
So we had this debate yesterday.
I'm not sure if you saw it or not.
But when you draw something and it's wax,
you use that wax item, not a marker.
Yeah.
Crayola.
What do you call that?
Oh, I did see it.
see this. Yeah. A Cran. A what? Cran. What in the hell is wrong with you guys? Yeah. Why would you
pronounce it Cran like Cranberry? You say crayon, don't you? Because it's spelled Crayon. That's a very
I think Wisconsin, Minnesota. I think West Coast says Crayon. Your mom says Crayon. Does she?
Grand. We called her. She said Crayon. She does say my brother says Cran. But then people were
saying to me they say it crowned.
The R. W. L.
Yeah, see, and do you see how weird you think that is?
That's how I feel about Cran.
Well, I say pop.
Me too.
Yeah.
Where are you originally from Iowa?
Yeah.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Well, in nowhere.
And you said you moved to the city, how long ago?
Well, I've been in the Northeast for like two and a half years.
Okay.
Where were you?
I was in Stanford before.
Oh, okay.
So he's still in this area.
Okay.
Like last time we hung out when you were here.
I was living up there and just coming down and stuff.
Okay, got it.
She strongly disliked.
dogs oh strongly dislikes dogs who dislikes dogs i've met a couple no that is an absolute deal
breaker yeah i agree that's like a sin there's actually somebody somebody went through my my uh
like follows the other week yeah i had followed like 25 dogs in one day and they actually
screenshot it that's so good and they said will somebody check on derrick because he just followed
25 dogs need to make sure that
That's your confession right there
Is he followed 25 dogs in one day
That's amazing
It's good for the soul
It is
That's the thing
Our Instagram fees are so filled with like
People trying to pose like us
For shots that look nice
And I just need some dogs in there
Me too
Oh my whole feed is like golden retrievers
Okay
She has an inspirational quote
In her email signature
No, I like that.
Oh.
Yeah.
Okay.
I can do that.
Okay.
And now you're going to get so many emails with inspirational quotes at the end.
She, oh.
If you want to reply, inspirational quote in the email.
I just got really, I got twisted in these last ones.
She accidentally calls you her brother's name in an intimate situation.
Oh.
No, I think that that's like a forgivable accident.
Yeah, really.
I could just give that as an accident.
This is one off.
It's a one off.
In an intimate situation?
We're not talking like, Derek, go get the groceries.
I shut her brain down, man.
That's the thing.
I mean, good for you.
Her brain is not working right now.
Okay.
I might, you know what?
Yeah, I can understand brain's not working.
Did you loop before?
Yeah, but are you lubed up?
Drinks, did you?
Obviously.
She's a horrible tipper, like at a restaurant.
She doesn't tip.
Oh, gosh.
I think I would hate that, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
That would be a deal breaker for me.
Tipping in the way someone treats, like,
a waitress or waiter is one of the most important things the way they treat them totally agree
I would definitely say something about it but I don't think it would be a deal breaker for me okay
that's fair um she wears the same perfume as your mom I don't think my mom even wears perfume
do you know I say that it's because I wear the same perfume as Jason's mom definite deal breaker
for anybody anybody who wouldn't is weird it's the funniest thing to me and I don't know if I've
brought this up on another podcast or not but Jason and his brother picked out perfume for
me they like went to the store because jason thought i needed a new power smell and yeah he
didn't like my marshmallow scent i like that okay so him and his brother went and they're trying
all these perfumes and they get to this one they're like that's her smell this is the power smell
oh this is so great love blah and then i start wearing it and then down the road he's like
telling his mom yeah i bought her Chloe and jason's mom goes yeah that's what i wear
that was so funny it's so good it's so good i love that okay so a lot of people had questions
for you but i don't have time to read all of them um but which is so funny look at the first one
does he cook how come he didn't use his microwave for three that is so funny that's literally
the first one um people want to know if you would have been the bachelor if you were asked um i this
kind of goes back to what we talked about earlier i think that that sometimes when people
talk about this they play it up because they say what people want to hear i think if you're sure of
yourself you know yourself i think i very much know myself thank you therapy for helping with that um
and so like my answer is why the hell would you say anything but yes in that situation you know
what a super awesome unique opportunity to um you know like seek love and also do some cool shit
yeah you do some cool shit and you learn so much more about yourself yeah yeah and i think like
you're looking for and what you want.
I think if you don't know yourself, then for sure, think on that.
Yeah.
A lot more.
But literally every time people make it seem like it was the hardest decision of the, oh,
oh, no, I don't know.
And they go on for like five minutes before and then finally they're like, but I finally
came to this realization that, yes, did you said that?
Well, I actually did say no for like a long time because they were putting me against
another girl.
Yeah, that's a unique.
so if it wasn't that
I would have said hell yeah
but it was because of that
I actually said no I'm not doing it
yeah I would have said the same thing
yeah I agree I think I would have never
because when we were there at the time
me Blake or Colton I would have never done
the whole two on one thing but anyone that would
say anything but yes
I can think of one situation
which I'm not going to bring up and why you would
say no well now you have to
why would you even say that
because I think there there could be people
from last season that maybe have other things
going on that they wouldn't pursue that's well yeah when you're dating a 10 supermodel you know i think
how do you say no and so people would ask me that after show and i'd be like of course like why
would i not do it and then they're like you're politicking to be the i'm like no i just would
i did think you were um that was one thing that's so funny that you said that because i didn't
remember until right now i was like this guy is campaigning to be the bachelor every time i was
asked. I was like, yeah, of course.
Like, why would I not do that? See, I love
that. Because it was just honest. Like, who
would say no to that? Exactly. Transparency instead
of this like, well, I don't know.
You know, I, I thought,
I thought about it for months and months and
Yeah. No, I get that. Yes.
But I just, it's when
people start really playing off their
edit of the show when they're like, you know,
and they use the one line that everybody
loves and that everybody loves
you for and then you go and put it on your
Instagram you know like I would just really love is love is love and no I'm just don't hate on that no I don't hello that was what made me like love you when you said that I was like oh my god this guy's amazing he just quoted Oprah I'm in love with him um okay Lori wants to know do you agree with how the show dealt with the Demi and Christian situation yeah I don't think there's I don't yeah I mean we kind of already touched on that yep I think I don't think they mean like her stain but um yeah yeah I don't think they mean like her stain but um yeah yeah yeah
Just dealt with the situation.
I think it was very realistic and like knowing Demi the way that I do now.
Yeah.
I think it was presented.
The problem is not, I think in the way it was presented.
I think it's more in the way that people are perceiving it.
Totally.
Because they're like viewing it through their own lenses.
Yeah.
You went on a date recently with Stephanie Pratt?
Yeah, we tried it out a little bit.
We went on a few dates before, before Paradise.
Oh, before Paradise.
Before Paradise.
Okay, okay, okay.
Yep, yep.
And, yeah, it's just like, it didn't work out.
So you're single right now?
I'm single, yeah.
Okay, so, yeah.
Would you go back on a reality TV dating show?
So you've had an interesting sit, right?
That was one of the questions.
People want to know if you would go back on Paradise or, I guess, another day show.
I think, like, I feel like I've told the joke three times now, and it's just like not going to be funny anymore at this point.
No, just like, I mean that in the way of, like, it's.
an analogy. I think it's it's like time that I move on. So I mean, frankly, I don't think that's
in my future. I can't say no 100%. Yeah. But like this time talking about, you know, you said no. I
told them no for like months. Yeah. Yeah. Doing Paradise. Oh really? And it was a very last minute
thing to be like, all right. Why not? Might as well. Yeah, might as well. Um, Ruby wants to know
prior to arriving in Bachelor in Paradise, who did you want to see?
I talked about this on a few different podcasts.
I was actually always pretty interested in Demi.
You always were?
Yeah, I thought she's edgy.
She is edgy.
You know, that's like a whole thing.
And she's funny.
Yes, super funny.
She's really funny.
Oh, so, okay.
I hang out with so many comedians in the city of just like through my friends.
Yeah.
I'm friends with tons of comedians.
Really?
In comics.
Yeah.
I love that.
So, like, somebody who,
is able to make me laugh like that and get me out of my head.
Yeah.
That's huge.
Yeah.
Okay.
I feel like we covered everything else because everyone's asking the same questions we've
already talked about.
So who do you think?
Obviously,
you've known Derek before.
So have I.
Who,
if you had to pick one person from Bachelor World to date Derek, who would have?
Oh.
I had to pick somebody for you.
I'm not,
I can't even remember who's single right now that.
They can be hooked up.
Oh, okay.
We can break somebody up.
No.
I'm like, oh, okay.
Yeah, now we're really lubed up.
That's going to become a whole thing.
It is.
I can't wait.
Please use the hashtag lubed up.
I don't know.
I can't think of...
Wow, I'm that bad.
No, I'm trying to think of funny, edgy.
Yeah, there's not many.
Which, there's all amazing people, but funny edgy.
Usually there's like an emotional backstory behind people, right?
Like in the funny people and end up in sort of like an almost villain role.
Would you date Hannah Beard?
be. I was going to say that. I was just going to say that. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't say no. I think she is, I'm sorry, but she supplanted you as my like favorite. I know. That's everybody. If I wasn't so established in my other life, I would be like. You would feel it. Yeah. If I would be, I would be like, but that was my thing. I was the like, you know, but now I'm like, yes, girl. She's got that whole like just says what's on her mind thing. That's, I could see that. She, I could totally see that. Because we hung out with her in my.
Miami for a little bit.
And everything you've described that you want someone,
I think she kind of has that.
Oh my gosh.
Wow.
Let's send it.
Send it.
Wait.
Wait.
What's their couple name?
Hanak.
Mine's hard because mine has an R.
That sounds like very Norwegian.
Hanek.
A little panic.
Hashtag lubed up hashtag
Hanak.
Hashtag.
Send it.
Yes.
Oh, geez.
Okay.
Well, we put it out there.
And you know what?
I'm a matchmaker of my generation.
I did this whole thing called the Blaret where I found love for this girl on my podcast.
Oh, really?
And I just did the same for you.
So you're welcome.
Thanks, Caitlin.
Job is done.
I'm like, that's how we end it.
But I do want to say, tell us about your podcast where people can find it.
Tell us your Instagram handle.
Let's blow it up here.
well uh my name is derrick peth is the last name yeah and basically just type that in
anywhere you'll find it our our podcast is the betchler it's betches so b-et-c-h-e-l-ohr and we have a
bunch of our i think our like our favorite thing is the memes that we make that's like it's so
good that's half of it it's so good it's just it's so fun sitting with um with k when like she
and i watch it and basically we're at the point now where we see like little it's not the obvious
things it's like the little side things that people do
And you're like, oh, pause it.
We have to take a screenshot of that.
That's one.
Oh, that's funny.
How many girls do the podcast?
Well, it's just the two of us.
Oh, it is?
Yeah, but, but that just has like 30 employees maybe, 25.
I'm going to give you a scrunchy to take to her.
For sure.
Yeah.
Oh, she would love that.
Okay.
Plus, she loves like the neon stuff.
She wears.
Oh, I don't have a neon one here.
Well, that's like a, I'm, I'm, I'm looking at mine.
Yeah.
Well, I'm not giving her this one.
This is my favorite one.
Like I couldn't get another.
We'll find a way to get her one.
And where is your podcast?
Where can people find it?
Everywhere.
Yeah,
where iTunes,
Spotify,
everywhere.
Amazing.
Okay.
Well,

Plural.
Oh,
hungover pieces of shits.
Both of us.
I said pieces of shit.
Oh, I don't know.
Oh,

What?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I don't remember.
It's not shits.
It's pieces.
Wait.
