Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.
Damn it, damn it.

and welcome to Drunk Dial.
You've made it to Friday.
And for that, I congratulate you.
I've made it to Colona, British Columbia, just outside of Vancouver.
It was a long haul.
Three flights, a full day.
I left at, oh gosh, what time did I leave at this morning?
If you hear me doing that through the podcast,
it's because there's a couple of fruit flies coming around my wine.
What time do I left?
Oh, I left at about noon.
and I got here at this insane cabin around midnight.
If you guys haven't seen my Instagram stories,
I suggest you go watch because holy freaking Toledo and cheese balls.
This cabin I'm staying at, it's on Quailsgate Winery in Colona, British Columbia.
I'm not worthy.
I'm not worthy.
It's like a five-bedroom, three-kitchen.
I don't know how many bathrooms, cabin right on the lake.
Okanagan Lake, for those of you don't know, is outside of Vancouver,
and it is legitimately my happy place.
Holy crap, there's a lot of fruit flies.
And can I also just mention that I am the fruit fly master
when I lived in BC for years and years and years.
I got them all the time with, I don't know,
maybe it's because I've wine around all the time.
But if you put apple cider vinegar with dish soap in a bowl,
I'm telling you, these fruit flies will flock to it and shibang, shabop, pop, you're welcome.
Anyways, what a week.
What a week.
I was just on the flight, like I said, Nashville to Vancouver.
Actually, I went Nashville and Minneapolis to Calgary, to Colonna.
I had a very long moment where I thought of all the exciting things that are coming up,
how much things can change in such a short period of time.
And I just want to share this with you guys in case.
there any of you out there going through a really hard time because when you're going through
that it's so hard to see brighter days it's so hard to see light at the end of the tunnel it doesn't
matter what you think people have going on on social media whatever you see everybody's going
through a tough time even when i look like i have my shit together like i did months and months
and months ago i didn't i think everybody can see now it's just like a change of energy i just feel
I have so much to look forward to. Jason's moving to Nashville. We're getting ramen, which I
seriously couldn't be more excited about. And I launched my wine today. The fact that I get to run
two businesses about things I truly love and feel passionate about blows my mind. Now, you can say, like,
how could you be, how could you be passionate about scrunchies? I am. Believe me, I am. And wine has been
in the works for so long. I've had so many people help me get to the point I'm at
today. My girlfriend, Tanya, help me so much with the branding and ideas, and she's a wine
expert to. Cleo, who is my business partner, my best friend, my sister from another Mr. Aaron Lightman,
who's been an attorney that I've used for entertainment for a very long time, who's also
involved in the wine business. Everybody's just worked their asses off to get to this point,
and it's taken over a year. So I'm just so grateful. And, yeah,
I'll get myself a little pat on the bat because I added some value to that as well.
So I feel like I have a creative mind and everything with our team has just come together so smoothly and I just can't talk.
I just can't tell you how excited I am.
Okay, I might be a little tipsy from drinking wine on my flights and then getting here and drinking more wine.
I'm tired too.
But anyways, it seems appropriate on today's drunk dial to talk wine.
It just seems fitting.
and I just wanted to also thank you guys so much for making another launch so successful.
I've obviously been dying to share this wine with you guys.
It's been in the works for the last year.
I didn't want to rush it.
I didn't want to rush any project.
You know, I could have just jumped off the show and started telling you guys on things.
But I wanted to gain your trust.
I wanted to do things I'm passionate about.
I wanted to do it right.
I wanted to get the name right, the flavor, the branding right.
I wanted to, I wanted the branding to represent my growth since my days on The Bachelorette,
and it's been awesome seeing it all come to life.
I've loved wine since, oh, squirrel, since I was probably 16 years old.
My mom has, I feel like we all, in my family, like I swear we're supposed to have a little Italian in us,
because my mom always liked a glass of wine with dinner, she would have friends over, our family,
family would, you know, do Christmas, Thanksgiving, everything, everybody would enjoy wine.
And nobody took advantage of it. I felt like it was just this, like, thing that you have with dinner.
And so I started trying wine when I was 16, maybe a little underage.
But it was 18 was the legal age when I lived in Alberta.
So, you know, 18 years old, I started drinking wine.
And at first, I'm not going to lie, drinking it to get drunk.
Over the years and over all my restaurant training, I've been learning to appreciate wine,
carrot with foods, tasting different varietals that I like, that I don't like, understanding
why.
I had to take wine courses to teach servers in my 20s.
I just feel like I've learned to appreciate it and enjoy it much more than just,
you know, drinking it to drink.
But I also, I'm not a snob, you know?
People are like, oh, what does she know about wine?
She can't even hold the glass properly.
Yeah, somebody tweeted me that.
And you know what?
I don't care if I get fingerprints on the glass.
And I don't care if I'm not a little wine.
connoisseur. I'm going to tell you guys what I like. I'm going to share it with you. I'm going to learn. I'm going to grow. I'm going to just always be, you know, trying to be on the same page as you guys with what you like. And I think that's the most important thing. I can't believe that in two weeks I'm going to be serving all my guests, Spade and Sparrow's wine. Everybody knows I like to host. If they don't like wine, then they'll be uninvited. Remember that Alanis Morset song?
For those of you don't, that got weird.
For those of you who haven't checked out the website,
I launched three varietals.
I got a Pinot Grigio, a rosé, and a cabsav.
There's going to be way more exciting stuff coming soon,
but that's all I'm going to say for now.
So make sure you're following at Spade and Sparrows on Instagram.
I know I sound biased, and obviously I'm going to pump my own tires
when it comes to the wine, but holy freaking tits, you guys.
This wine is so good.
I love reading all your guys comments
I had a few things I wanted to address
since I thought it would be faster than responding back to everyone
individually which I've been trying to do
it's so hard to balance too because you know a lot of people are
being like why aren't you sending to Canada
did you forget where you came from and all and I'm like trying to respond
and explain but I want to also show so much love to the people
who don't question anything and just get right on that train
and order it so first of all it kills me
that we couldn't ship to Canada right away
It's crazy how many regulations that there are around alcohol,
but we are already in the process of having conversations with the Canadian distributors
and to make this happen as soon as possible.
So I'm hoping it won't take too long.
The other one is shipping costs.
Now, I know this is something that is tough to get past
and something that we knew we would have to deal with right off the bat,
something we can't really get around.
Shipping wine bottles are.
heavy they're fragile which is why shipping costs are really quite high we can't just you know
pour liquid into like a soap bottle plastic thing and ship it off in bubble wrap we really can't
get around that but the good thing is as you buy more bottles the price per bottle is significantly
less my plan is to get the wine into some liquor stores and restaurants eventually but selling
it online is the best way to test it out so i'm really also curious to hear your feedback once you
have tried the wine. I want to know what you think. Be honest. Sometimes I get defensive.
And I just get sad that you don't, you know, love what I put out there. But I really want to make
sure I'm creating something that my vinoes love. Get away from me, fruit flies. But again, it's just
selling it online is, I know it's tricky to think like, oh, you're, you know, you have to pay for
the shipping and blah, blah, blah, when you can just go to the liquor store and buy it there for
cheaper but I just want you guys to know that the more bottles you buy the cheaper the shipping
costs and the more bottles you buy the more I'm going to sell and the more that proves to
you know target Walmart liquor stores that I should be in their stores so stick with me as you
guys always always do and and just know that I'm always trying to do what's best for everybody
as for more wine questions here's some questions I've gotten from
guys in the last couple months. So, forgive me if I say your name wrong, Malin, Malin,
Pickett. You have to get rid of one, wine or Jason, which do you keep? I would never get rid of Jason.
I would drink mouthwash before I got rid of Jason to get drunk. So, yeah, I'm going to keep Jason.
Maddie for Tig says, what is your all-time favorite BC wine? And that's why I feel so blessed right now,
because it's Quailsgate. Quailsgate winery in Colonia, you guys, I have actually, if you go back
and back years on my stories, I have always been a big fan of their wine, of their winery, I've done
photo shoots here. It's just, they've got so many different wines that can, you know, make everybody
happy no matter what your taste is. They're so sweet. They've got delicious food. It's a beautiful
winery. I always do their long table dinners. They do every, I think, Wednesday in the summer.
where a chef will come out and pair your wine with food all local and it's just beautiful scenery anyways
it's one of my favorite places so quailsgate everybody jamie battersby says do you and jason have
the same taste in wine and you know what we do at first when i met him he was really big and i can't
even remember and i gave him my favorites and now he we both love the same wines and uh i
I got to taste some of my own wines, obviously.
When we first met, I had a few bottles,
and I got him to taste some, and he loved it.
And he is a bit of a wine connoisseur.
That's what attracted me to him, too,
is that he's super into, like, really good wines.
Anyways, yes, we both do a very similar taste in wine.
Kylie Peck says, where can I buy your wine?
Well, you'll be able to buy it in a couple weeks on my website,
so stay tuned.
If you are subscribed to my newsletter,
You can find it on my website.
You get half an hour heads up when I launched my product,
whether it's for do my scrunchies or spayed and sparrows.
So it's really important that you guys sign up for the newsletter
because that way you can really have an advantage to jump on the sales
before they get out to the rest of the internet.
To the rest of the internet.
Lindsay White wants to know, what are your thoughts on canned wine?
What is your favorite wine varietal?
A big canned wine guy.
I always had it on my parents' boat last summer.
It all depends on the occasion, though.
It's easy to transport.
It's perfect for pool parties.
The boat, summer life.
There's something so satisfying about opening a really cold can of bubbly.
I feel like it stays colder longer.
I really like a sparkling rosé in like a smaller can.
I feel like I'm just, that's just like a summer sipper.
Allison Reed wants to know, or it says,
I can't wait to try your wine.
I'm currently pregnant with my first I am due in just under four weeks with a boy.
Oh, congratulations!
I'm a huge fan and would love for my first drink in nine months to be Spade and Sparrow's wine.
Is there any way you could make this happen?
Hell to the freaking yes, Allison Reed.
Congratulations on your baby boy.
Four weeks, perfect timing.
Spade and Sparrows will be available.
Ugh, so excited for you.
May I suggest naming him, Caitlin?
No?
Okay. Oh, next one comes from Caitlin.
Zan Lungi Wells.
It's a tough, tough name to pronounce.
If you could drink wine with one person dead or alive, who would it be?
Oh, wow.
That's a great question.
You know what? I'd probably just want to drink.
No, I was going to say with like the biggest wine Somali in the world,
but they would just not be on the same page as me.
dead or alive okay uh i would say
amy schumer which i've done
and it was awesome
she was talking i'm pretty sure you can youtube this and i'm sorry mom
sorry dad anyone who's listening it was amy who said it not me but she was talking
about fisting a guy on my season's butthole because she couldn't stand him
it was hilarious anyways or kirk cobain just because i'm
obsessed with nirvana and i would really love to hear his
story from him.
Megan Lucas wants to know favorite dinner and wine combo.
Oh gosh, where do I start?
Okay, when I ate meat, I loved red wine and steak, but I don't eat meat anymore.
So red wine and dark chocolate.
Does that count as a dinner and wine combo?
I love sparkling rosé or white wine with oysters, and I love white wine with any seafood.
I'm huge.
into seafood, sushi, anything like that.
Anytime I come back to the West Coast, I'm like, it's all I'll eat.
Okay, I need another sip of wine.
You with me?
It's Friday.
Sorry, I always tried to hold the mic away when I drink.
Well, now I'm losing my voice.
More questions.
I thought I would answer some more of your questions now.
I'm a little tipsy.
Brianna Briggs, I'm just going for it.
I'm committing.
What silly, funny thing that makes you afraid or
creeps you out what silly funny thing makes you afraid or creeps you out today i got scared at the
automatic toilet flushers in the airport does that count that's weird they're so unpredictable
like why do they flush when you're not done or then you like stand up to wipe and then they don't flush
and then you're okay that's weird hey you said silly funny thing tasha scott wants to know what is the book about the
universe that you mentioned on your podcasts and she also wants to know the dumbest thing you've done
that actually turned up pretty well okay um the book that i'm talking about that's about the universe
is called light is the new black wish i could think of the um author right now but it's amazing
okay she also wants to know what's the dumbest thing you've ever done actually turned up pretty
well oh the bachelor i mean at first it seems like the dumbest thing you could ever do because
you're like what am i signing up or am i going to be the drunk loser
But it turned out pretty well.
Ali Kolb wants to know what's the most exciting thing you're looking forward to when it comes to marriage one day?
Oh, that's a good question.
I always look forward to growing, whether that be on my own, in business opportunities,
podcasting, in a relationship, anything.
I love growing and learning and becoming a better version of myself.
I've been working so hard on myself for, I mean, in my 20s, I always say this.
I didn't, I didn't try.
Like, I wasn't like, ooh, I'm going to actively work on myself.
But 29, 30, 31, 32, each year just keeps getting better and better because I'm more self-aware
and I'm really growing.
And I notice such a difference in myself each year.
So when it comes to marriage, I think I'm going to learn a lot about myself.
And so I think growing, growing as a, as a.
person in a relationship and on my own would be something I'm looking forward to.
Lindsay Wiederman asks, if you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would
it be?
Oh, I mean, my brain goes to something stupid like Anchorman, but if I'm being serious, probably
what's something that, oh, the secret, which is obviously all about manifesting things that you
want in your life and the law of attraction, just because I feel like I've used.
used that so much in my life and the first time I actually watched the secret I don't think I've
ever told this story is I was dating a guy how old was I don't know I think I was 23 24 I was home
visiting family he was in Vancouver and he went snowboarding and I didn't hear from him for a long
time and I was like what is happening why isn't he responding to me and I start getting angry
because I'm like, look, you went snowboarding with your buddies.
Like, I totally understand, but it's been hours and hours what's happening.
And then I was like, you know what, screwed.
I'm going to go see a movie.
So I went to a movie with Bree.
You guys all know Bree.
And my girlfriend, Shana called me and she said, Bean, which was my nickname, still is.
She goes, Bean, you need to come home to Vancouver.
Rob's been in an accident.
And I said, what do you mean?
What kind of accident?
and he was on life support.
The guy I was dating was on life support.
He'd gotten a really, really bad snowboarding accident.
He went to do a backflip off a jump.
He wasn't wearing a helmet.
And there was a little kid passing the jump, and he panicked in the air,
and he had to be airlifted and ended up being okay.
And he's here, and he's great, and he's wonderful.
But he got in a really bad snowboarding accident.
And that night, I sat at home waiting to get on a lot.
a flight and I watched the secret and I was like I am going to use the power and the law of
attraction and I'm going to manifest that he's going to be okay and I just really put it out there
and from that moment like he literally woke up when I got there and he made a joke he had tubes
up his nose and he said do I have something in my nose do I have a booger in my nose and I was
like oh my gosh it's still him and ever since that moment and that you know what I guess that
was 24. I have really believed in the power of manifestation and putting positive thoughts out in the
universe and paying attention to the universe and just the power of positivity. So, what was the
question? Oh yeah, the movie I would watch for the rest of my life would be the secret just because
I think it's so important to remind yourself that power that you have in yourself. Okay. Rachel Fleming
asks, what's the one thing that you're more cognizant of moving forward in your relationship
with Jason based on your previous relationships? Oh, that's a really, really great question.
Something that I am more cognizant of would be overthinking. I don't want to jump to conclusions
or assume things because then you go into like an accusatory mode
where they could have done absolutely nothing wrong
and you're letting your lies that you're telling yourself get the best of you.
So I'm very cognizant of not being an overthinker
and I would say I'm also cognizant of not being defensive
just because I think, I don't know,
know my I want to be so good at constructive criticism because that helps you grow but for some
reason I have such a tough time when people tell me that I'm doing something wrong when I believe in
what I'm doing so that is something I've I've been more aware of that's a really great question
thank you Rachel for asking that she also asked what's next on your list because she said
she loves following my travels around the globe I would say next on our list is when
Jason moves in and we get
Rahman, we want to take him on a little road
trip to Canada and, you know,
take him to the mild stomping grounds,
show them a good time, get them in the lake
out here, and Golden's love to swim
because they're retrievers, so very excited about that.
Hannah Beam, huh?
Hannah Bee, asks if you and Jason
had a reality show, what would it be called?
Sorry, these.
freaking fruit flies with my nose.
You know what I want to say?
The song, It Takes 2, baby.
That keeps coming in my head because I feel like it takes to make a successful relationship,
to build our lives, to move in, to build a home, to raise kids, to raise a family, to raise a dog.
It always takes, I mean, it can take one, but if you're in a relationship, it always takes.
takes two. So maybe we would call it it takes two. It takes two. Anna von Segeren. Von Segerne asks,
do you fold? Very serious question here. Do you fold the toilet paper or scrunch it into a ball when you wipe?
What do I do? I've never thought about this. I think I just don't give any Fs and just, you know,
scrunch it into a ball. Is that weird? Oh, now I'm curious.
what do you guys do this is deep shit here guys deep shit tabitha la forks wants to know do you think
you can outgrow 15 year friendships i'm worried about salvaging a friendship and if it's worth it
oh hell yeah you can outgrow it listen i can't tell you how fast 15 years of my life has gone
by a really really close friend that i have when i was 20 i don't even know what she's doing
anymore and i hope she's doing well but it's just you know you
know the true friendships that mean everything to you.
Bree, Jess, Shana, Cleo.
Oh, no, I'm scared I'm leaving anything out.
One of my girlfriends, Rachel, Penny, all these girls to me are lifers.
They mean the world to me.
I can see them as my forever friends and I would get through anything with them.
If you even have to ask the question about outgrowing a 15-year friendship,
it means something's missing and you either have that conversation,
with yourself or with that person about what's missing or you make that decision for yourself
and know that, you know, like what's 15 years? 15 years is a lot, but 15 years from now,
you might thank yourself for 15 years previous to letting that go. It depends on if it,
you know, how much value it adds to your life or how much of a strain it causes.
Yeah, I feel like that was really good. How have you and, oh, she wants to
how of you and Brie handled all of life's changes.
Now, she was up for a call, but I can't.
I'm sorry, it's so late.
I've just learned that you can't do that at this time of night.
I got to record these earlier.
Once I get ramen, I'll have more of a normal schedule and be able to actually give
these calls.
I just feel like Brie and I know that our friendship is everything, and we don't ever want each
other to be out of our lives.
So we use it as a growing opportunity.
So it just, again, it depends on if you see this person in your life forever.
And I definitely see Brie in my life forever.
We've gone through so many challenges from such a young age to losing our mutual best friend in a car accident to, you know, dump boy fights to life fights, to moving to each other's cities to be closer and not working.
We will always get through anything together.
Lisa is asking, what is something you thought you'd outgrow, but you haven't?
Oh, I don't know if this is supposed to be funny or deep.
Like, what my mind immediately goes to cinnamon toast crunch.
Something you'd outgrow, but you haven't.
I don't know, like being scared of the dark?
Tell me, is anyone other not afraid of the dark?
I don't care if I'm in my own home and a stranger's home in a hotel.
It's dark.
I'm scared, yo.
Nikki Heitman wants to know
