Starting point is 00:02:44 Off the Vine Drunk Dial. It's all about dialing digits and making questionable decisions. Let's get it started. Okay, this is that work. I need to get this thing. Happy Friday and welcome to Drunk Dial. Well, it's my last, my last episode of Drunk Dial.
Starting point is 00:03:03 It's a very special edition for you because it's the last one and it's Black Friday. I hope you're getting them deals. And I mentioned on my Drunk Dial last week that this week would be my final episode. Wom-Wom. I'll still be incorporating parts of Drunk Dial into Thursday's grape therapy. episodes. But for now, this is the last Friday I'm with you. I know. I know. It's a sad day for everyone. But you're probably eating leftover turkey sandwiches and so at least that will make you happy. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving that wasn't too crazy with everybody's
Starting point is 00:03:42 families. Oh, I love a good Thanksgiving. I'm recording this before. So I was like, I was like, I'm going to make something up about Thanksgiving that I had. And then I'm like, yeah, I can't lie to you guys, it's a Tuesday right now. So when you hear this, I would have already had my Thanksgiving dinner with Jason's family. Yeah, in honor of Black Friday in the last drunk dial, I mean, let's call the episode Blackout Friday, hey? Why not? We're not getting drunk today. We're getting Blackout.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Just kidding. I'm very tired of drinking from that tour. I do have one little glass of spade and sparrows white to my left. And Jason just got home from a hockey game. I'm sure he'll jump in and have a beer and join me. But I feel like maybe he has a confession from the podcast. Somebody had a little too much to drink might. Okay, so for Blackout Friday, I wanted to take the opportunity to answer all your questions about the fall crawl, what went down behind the scenes, what is only appropriate since, you know, we all probably drank a little too much on the tour.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I was going to think of can you nots from the tour too. And I'm like, the only can you not is just that I'm like, can you not? Caitlin like can you not think that you're superwoman and the energizer bunny and go out and then get little sleep and travel and feel like you're going to be feeling like a million bucks the next day no i was like almost sick every week i'd wake up be like ah this is the time the flu is hitting and then i'd somehow battle through anyways alice la juan says question how are you feeling now that you're back home we had such a great time thank you for always going the extra mile for your vinos.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Oh my gosh. I only had two sips of wine and I'm already like making burp noises. Well, thank you. Oh, my gosh. Thank you for saying that. And thank you guys for always going the extra mile for me. I feel like people on the tour were bringing gifts and I actually don't smell anymore. Somebody gave me a good, a good natural deodorant that I will share at some point.
Starting point is 00:05:44 I just don't have it in front of me right now. I am feeling very tired, almost like I got hit by a train. but very happy to be home even though we drive six hours to Charlotte tomorrow for the Thanksgiving dinner but yeah we had we had a really fun time I feel like I'm just feeling really grateful I've been doing a lot of reflecting and and just thinking back onto the tour and how amazing it was and how amazing the people are that come to those shows like just we all know I'm a words of affirmation kind of gal and just hearing people's stories and and how the podcast makes them happy.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Just honestly makes me so happy. Kelly Elizabeth Newman wants to know how was Raman while traveling and on stage? Let me tell you, I thought I loved the stage. We couldn't get Raman off the stage. I would prep everyone to be like, okay, we might have to be like quiet for Raman's ears. He was so fine and loved every second of it. Oh, are you coming in to join? Should I come to join?
Starting point is 00:06:47 Yeah. Oh, look at your cute, messy hair. Hockey. Look at the mirror right now. Your hair. A helmet hair. Jason just, I already said you got back from playing a hockey game. You were playing at the Bridgestone Arena, a lot of big deal.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Yeah, we went at the Predators Arena, not that. That's cool. That was cool. Yeah, was that ring bigger than the one you're used to? Yeah, it's way. Oh, you got a little extra cardio in. A little cardio in, got the lighting's different. The other thing, too, is because these guys are so big and they hit the board so hard.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Like when we shoot the blocker hit the boards, they don't even move. Oh, that's funny. Just gives you an idea how huge they are when the board's like almost like sometimes they do break. Yeah, puts things in perspective. Crazy. So Kelly was asking how Rahman was while traveling and on stage and I said he's a stage dog. He is such a stage dog. He lived for it.
Starting point is 00:07:35 He wouldn't, when I would try and get him off, he would do like the full breaks like the cartoons when they put the, you know, like all floors down like, I'm not going. He was just so into like the front row and licking everybody and wanting to like sniff everybody out. and he just loved being on stage with us. Did you tell the Seattle story? What? So Seattle Story, it's the first show. We had to go up through three set of stairs just to get to the green room.
Starting point is 00:07:59 And so we get to the green room and everyone's there and we're all excited, nerves are high. And all of a sudden we hear the crowd erupt. And we're like, wait. I was like, oh my gosh, I'm not even on stage yet. And then I'm like, shit, Blake, they're fired up for Blake. And then Blake comes out of the bathroom. Like, what the hell's going on down there? We start looking around nowhere to be found, ramen noodle.
Starting point is 00:08:19 He went down three flights of stairs Before the show Snuck behind our backs and went on He was the first person on stage for your tour A freaking guy He genuinely loved the stage And he was an angel while traveling An absolute angel
Starting point is 00:08:33 I can't think of one issue Which is outrageous I can't either And Farmer's dog was so freaking gracious And sent Farmer's dog food to each city So that we could keep him on the same diet Do you call it a diet for dogs? Yeah
Starting point is 00:08:45 Yeah nutrition plan And I keep talking to my buddies, and they're like, you just must be shot. And I'm like, I would think different, the response would be different. I think the response would be like, wow, that was wild. I wanted to be there. But everyone was like, you guys were going hard. We went hard. And also traveling that much different city every couple of days is hard on the bond.
Starting point is 00:09:09 It's a lot. I think, you know, it's something that I never knew before this is you don't realize the planning that goes into it. You know, when the show starts at eight, this. day really starts around 8 a.m. Yeah. And you have pre-show meetings and there's obviously a ton to do. And it's a small team.
Starting point is 00:09:25 It's a lean team that's doing a lot of it. Yeah, I have a great team. It's a lot of work. It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of recovery. And you're living on top of me, Rahman, and Kate, we're living on top of each other with a couple suitcases for 25 days and small hotel rooms. I'm pretty impressed with my packing for that long.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Yeah, that was good. I had two suitcases for 25 days. Yeah, that was impressive. You know what? That ain't like me. That is good. I'll tell you what. So by now you've likely heard about Disney Plus.
Starting point is 00:09:57 It's everywhere. The new streaming service that includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. With all of those amazing brands in one place, Disney Plus has one of the most incredible libraries in the entire streaming landscape. And it's all ad-free, which is my first. favorite part. From beloved classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to today's blockbusters like Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame to critically acclaimed documentaries like National Geographic's free solo. The content on Disney Plus is truly unparalleled. Disney Plus also offers some of the most beloved TV shows of all time, including 30 seasons of the Emmy Award winning
Starting point is 00:10:39 animated series The Simpsons. And if that weren't enough, Disney Plus has also rolled out a host of originals like the Mandalorian the first ever Star Wars live action series and high school musical. The musical, the series, a very meta, take on the beloved film franchise. So it's no wonder Disney Plus has become
Starting point is 00:10:58 one of the most talked about streaming services of 2019. So don't miss out. Sign up for Disney Plus now and start streaming all this great content today. Suzanne Huffin Huffine wants to know what was your biggest learning and takeaway about A yourself
Starting point is 00:11:14 and be your podcast from doing the tour. So for me, I thought so too, Suzanne, Susie. Oh, she probably hates that. I was thinking about it. And I thought, I think I learned that I'm not, and I just spoke about this before you came in, that I'm not the Energizer Bunny. Like I thought I could always be like on like that and go and travel.
Starting point is 00:11:39 And I'm like, I travel all the time and I've got this. but I really I was run down and I don't know what did I learn anything else about myself I just feel like I learned that I need to take care of myself better while doing that kind of thing yeah I think I mean from you know from the third row seating I learned a lot right so first of all you could be an unbelievable podcaster that doesn't mean you're great on live stage those are two totally different things what are you saying and no no I'm just saying like what I think what people don't realize I'm not saying about you what But people don't realize is like the energy and effort it takes to live podcasts, which I know, I'm sure there's people like lab, okay. But it's, I think to be, it's honestly the hardest thing to do on stage. I think other than probably comedy, it's the hardest thing to do. Because the problem is, is you're trying to have an intimate conversation with the person that you're with. You don't really have a talent.
Starting point is 00:12:35 You're not singing. You're not acting. You're not being funny. You're literally just having pretty funny. Dialogue. And then on top of it. of it you have to change your dialogue based on the way that crowds responding, but also remember that whatever goes in that microphone, X amount of thousand people are like, wait, we're waiting
Starting point is 00:12:52 to hear, like, stop talking to the crowd and stuff like that. So it's a really, in my opinion, one of the toughest balancing acts out there. It's tough. For saying that. I mean, I think I don't think of it that way just because some people don't love the stage and I do. I love feeding off crowds and I love interacting with crowds and I love interviewing people. So I feel like for me, I just, I don't think about it until either before or after. Like, before I get the nerves of like, what if I blow this? And then after I get the nerves of like, was that actually okay? Did I do, did I do well? Did the crowd enjoy that? And usually there's a correlation. I'll tell you this, between a good podcast, when you listen back to it saying, that's a good podcast and bad interaction
Starting point is 00:13:36 with the crowd. Right. So the best shows we had, the most energized, you know, engaging shows will probably make the worst podcast. Right. Because people don't want to hear. But some of the shows that were a little bit, maybe less energetic and crazy, those shows had great conversation.
Starting point is 00:13:54 And the podcast to listen to from a distance is going to be fantastic. And that's a note to make is that we're only going to record if the quality of the recording is high enough. So the San Francisco audio is apparently not great. And then there's another one. We're still going to air stuff from the shows, but we're going to make sure it's high quality and it might just be the best of the shows
Starting point is 00:14:20 because you don't want to listen to a full live show and we'll make sure that it's enjoyable to listen to. And I think I learned that. That's my next one. The same person asked what was your biggest takeaway from the podcast doing the live tour? And I think that's everything that you just said. And also knowing what to air for the podcast to come out.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Last tour I did, I just aired all the live ones start to finish. I mean, we edited some, of course, and did some ads. But I think I just learned that you can't do that. And people don't want to hear the screaming of the crowds. And, you know, they want to hear the content of the interview. Sure. And then a whole different twist is that I think a lot of people out there would probably imagine Caitlin on stage, you know, very confident, charismatic, but I think, you know, something for anyone
Starting point is 00:15:11 out there is that every single show, every single show when she wakes up, her anxiety is at all time high. She's very nervous. She's worried. She has, she doesn't eat. Like, she eats too much. She, like, and the point is, it's like she goes, my point is she doesn't eat or not eat or any of that stuff.
Starting point is 00:15:31 My point is that the nerves of the show. really impact you. I know. I was trying to play it off like it doesn't bug me. But it doesn't but it'll hold it. And I'm with you. I mean, from when you wake up until the show's over and then the show's over and you're like, oh shit, we got one tomorrow. And I think the important part of that is that most people who are great at performers, whatever it is, athletes, musicians, you don't see behind the scenes. And there's a lot that goes behind it. I heard it a set that Johnny Carson threw up every, and I don't know if this is true. It could be a rumor. I heard that he threw up before every single
Starting point is 00:16:04 night show because of his nerves. That sounds like hell. I would not do this. I'm sure that was an exaggeration. It was just hearsay, but it just puts in perspective. It is. It's a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:14 It's a lot. But I've gotten a lot of good feedback and I just feel like it's, I'm just so lucky to be able to do that and love doing it. And the nerves are all good parts of it too. Like I would feel weird
Starting point is 00:16:30 if I wasn't getting nervous before one of those shows. Yeah. Kalinda Montez asks, which city did everyone get the most drunken? Wait. Hold your thought because the next question is kind of the same but a little more. Okay, Amanda Spradlin says, I'm dying to know. At the end of the Dallas show, Jason came out and was doing the hype thing and he was like, let's get Caitlin back out here. I'll be right back. And then he never came back out. What happened? Is this perhaps a drunk confession that Jason needs to share? And then she said, P.S. I had a blast. It was seriously so much fun. My boyfriend went with me and he yelled, I'm a vino 10 times.
Starting point is 00:17:09 I love your boyfriend. You know, when the show's over, the show's over. And unfortunately, a lot of these people work on union contracts. Like, when they pull the plug, the plug is pulled and I was not having it. I thought the show was over. So I exited the stage and I had done my goodbye. Thank you. Love you guys.
Starting point is 00:17:30 I appreciate you so much. And then I go backstage and I can hear Jason still going. And I'm like, oh, is he doing a little bit? Is he doing a little bit? And then I hear docking and I'm like, oh, God. And then the people backstage were like, you already went longer than you were supposed to go. We need to get him off stage. And then Blake came and got me.
Starting point is 00:17:48 And then I was like, Blake, go get him. Oh, yeah. I mean, you were pretty tips. Yeah, I was feeling good. But that was our plan. Our plan. Caitlin and I had a plan then. Well, the plan was to get done.
Starting point is 00:17:57 This is Dallas. This is the last show. We're going in. And we went in. You went in. Yes, I sure did. I think you kept me a little more sober because I was like, oh, my God. Everyone had a show, and that was my show.
Starting point is 00:18:12 That was your show. I'm not going to lie. No, that wasn't my show. I was just hammered. You were hammered. That's Spain's Farrell. I always know when you're drunk because your hair just gets messier. The problem was, looking back on it, is that we had dinner plans with Danielle and Elena, Cody, and Jess,
Starting point is 00:18:30 and we showed up a little late to dinner so we didn't have time to order so unfortunately it was just a liquid diet and that'll catch up to you ladies and gentlemen see and I ate like four pieces of garlic bread before so I was okay it was soaking it up for me that's funny I had a great time we know you had a great time
Starting point is 00:18:49 Dallas knows you had a great time haters could hate I had a great time and the intention was real raw and pure well I know that's why people the words might not make sense the words did not make sense but it was so funny because all the VIPs in the line after were like, why is Jason not here?
Starting point is 00:19:03 I hope he's not in the dog house. I was like, no, he's not in the dog house. You literally went up and said, you were trying to pump my tires and be nice. Of course you're not in the dog house. All right, let's get real for a minute here. The options that are out there right now when it comes to dealing with that time of the month
Starting point is 00:19:18 just are not cutting it. Pads can be sticky and bunchy. Tampons are super uncomfortable. We all know about the P-string. Why haven't things changed for us? I don't get it. Actually, wait, they have. because I'm going to tell you a better way to period.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Thinks is period-proof underwear that absorbs up to four tampons worth of your flow, so this is how they work. Your period goes in, no stains, leaks, smells come out. You stay fresh, dry, and comfortable throughout your cycle. It can back up or even replace tampons, pads, cups, anything else that you're using today, and they look and feel just like everyday underwear. Plus, they're washable, reusable, you can feel good about switching to a more sustainable period too. Thanks is on a mission to empower everybody with innovative solutions and social change.
Starting point is 00:20:02 So my favorite part about this sponsor is every purchase gives back to their give rise program where they're fighting for better access to puberty education, menstrual equity, and more. I used to dread that time of month, and hey, I'm not saying I look forward to it now, but Things has made it so much easier to live my life while on my period. I can go about my day per usual and put on a pair of comfortable undies that are also protecting me as a backup. I love that this company is changing the way we think about periods and really encourage all my vinos to give it a try. Okay, so Kat Taylor says, what was your favorite hotel you stayed in while on the tour?
Starting point is 00:20:46 We had great hotels the whole time. Thompson, Seattle is pretty legit. I really liked the Ace Hotel in L.A. It was spacious and it felt like New York. Even though New York is not spacious, but... You know, my favorite was, it was Arizona Grand in Phoenix. Oh, yeah, how the hell did I forget about that one? It was on the golf course, really good space.
Starting point is 00:21:09 And I think the thing is, is like, it had a lot of space. It had a lot of space. At this point, you know, imagine you have like four or five bags and it's just all over the place. And we went swimming and hot tubbing and spa day. It was really a good recharge place. Yeah, that's true. Okay, so Kat Taylor also says she has a drunk confession about meeting me in Seattle. Hello.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Hi. Is this Kat? Yes. This is Caitlin and Jason calling you on drunk dial. Cat, what's going on, girl? Can I put you on speaker? I saw the number was unknown and I was like, oh my God, babe. He goes, what?
Starting point is 00:21:47 And I feel like he's so petrified right now. speaker speaker do some crazy do some crazy now who I'm talking to right now just guys who's like my favorite person oh my god yeah yes
Starting point is 00:22:05 that's amazing ding ding ding we have a winner wait cat I have a question are you do you live in Seattle I live in Maple Valley I don't know if it's it's like hell you know from the kind of live in Kent though right Oh, yeah, my girlfriend lives in Kent. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Yes, yeah. So it's 20 minutes from Kent. Oh, okay, gotcha. And I heard you have a drunk confession about meeting me in Seattle, and I'm very curious. Oh, it is. Okay, it's not like gross or anything. It's just more embarrassing a little bit.
Starting point is 00:22:44 I love it. I kept telling my husband, like, all week, I was like, okay, I don't want a totally fan girl right now, even though I am. But I was like, babe, what am I going to say? She's going to hate me. I want to be friends with her. Like, what do I say? So I literally was so excited but so anxious the whole time.
Starting point is 00:23:06 So me and my girlfriend, get a shot of tequila at the bar. We go to the show, and I was drinking the wine. We had a little more of tequila soda. and I swear it is so embarrassing and I oh it's the worst but I the whole night I remember except for the part where I met you
Starting point is 00:23:33 oh no it literally was so bad I don't know if I blacked out so excited or had too much wine I remember in line just setting my first down I was like I'm so excited I have these wine glasses to give to her I can't like to say hi Wait were you the one with the friends wine glasses
Starting point is 00:23:54 No No it was the one where it says Dog wines or it's not drinking if I'm home With ramen Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah We have those It was so hard to pack a lot of the things And I tried to keep all the wine glasses people gave me
Starting point is 00:24:09 And we wrapped them in newspaper I remember that one Oh my gosh well thank you for that Oh dang no thank you I literally told my girlfriend I remember saying the first down I remember giving Jason a hug and then that was all I remembered
Starting point is 00:24:22 and I was like, wait, wait, but I had the most anxiety the next morning and I was like, I was looking forward to this all week and then Oh no! Is there photos? Did you get photos back? I know. I got photos back and I was, they posted
Starting point is 00:24:38 them and I was like, oh God, I'm a little worried and it was so cute. Me and my girlfriend are like totally squishing you and we're not even really scared about the boys at all. We're like, you're the guys. We just want to be like me. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:24:53 You like tag me in that photo because I want to see it now. Okay, I will. It was too funny. I was like, how does that happen? How am I so excited for something? And then the only part I blacked out, it must have been just because I was so excited. Oh, man. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Well, thank you for coming to the show. And I'm sorry, I'm sorry you blacked out for that. But it'll happen again. We'll meet again someday. I know. Real. quick I just wanted to say I love the podcast you guys do such an amazing job and it makes my day every single time I listen to it and your corny jokes are just the greatest thing ever and so
Starting point is 00:25:30 you put a smile in so many faces and just can't thank you enough for it thank you for saying that that actually makes me a little bit emotional thank you so much I really appreciate it no thank you and thank for the call of course thanks for picking up from Seattle okay bye Let's go. Oh my God, I love her. Very sweet. Every time, like, they don't have to say nice things at the end, but everyone does, and it's so heartwarming. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Are you picking your feet right now? In this world of a lot of hate. It's nice to have that. That's really. Popping my knuckles. You ever do that? You never pop your toe knuckles? I mean, only on the carpet.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Like, I'll curl them over on the carpet. That's why I'm curling. I'm curling and popping. Well, I just played hockey. I got to loosen up a little bit. Let me get a couple more. The cracking noises. I mean, I can do it, but if other people crack, it, like, gives me the he-be-jeeps.
Starting point is 00:26:23 I don't know. Anyways, let's get to some blackout Friday confessions. We're calling this episode Blackout Friday, by the way. It's the last one. It's the last one, like curtains close. Oh, it's kind of sad. And then it's also Black Friday. Oh, look, that's me reminding you to take out the garbage.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Are you going to play Closing time? Closing time. Yeah, that's a great idea. You ready for these confessions? Do you have any confessions? No. Come on. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:26:51 I just went on tour for a damn 25 days. I gave every confession I can have and I'm so bad at confessions. You don't have a drunk confession from your drunk Dallas night? No. Damn it. I think one time during the tour, that's actually pretty funny. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:08 I think one time during the tour, I feel bad about this. Oh, no. What? But you came in the room. and this a couple times this was legit but this time was pretty this was that you came in the room and it's it smelled a little bit and you're like did you just did you just in the hotel yeah but which is a bathroom was it in Portland Austin okay it was in Austin okay and um you're like what is that smell and I looked at ramen like ramen come on buddy and you're like oh my god
Starting point is 00:27:43 ramen tooted so bad and i was like ramen toot that's so bad when i went over and sniffed it in just to smell his too yeah so wait so i was like i don't know what to do i don't know what to do and you're like you're like does he have to poop and i'm like i don't know should we take him out you're like well we'll just have to see and then you went and smelled his butt and you're like oh it's bad so then you walk away and in the other room and I had this like heart to heart looking ramen in the eyes and I gave him a treat and I'm like ramen I am so sorry I put this on you I swear to God I had to like a talk with him I was like ramen listen I think you can understand me but I just totally blamed all my toots on you

Starting point is 00:28:52 We were waiting for our postmates order. Was that after we ate all that sushi? Yeah, well, no, I think it was after we went to that French restaurant. French restaurant. Yeah. What French restaurant? With Clee, the one in the patio. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:05 Oh, that was good. So good. So anyway, sorry, Robin. That's actually, I apologize. I feel like so many dog owners. I'm sure I've done it to you. Actually, I know I've done it. to you before too. Yeah, I gave him, though. I looked him dead in the eye. I said, I am so
Starting point is 00:29:20 sorry. And I kind of, I felt him look back in me, like, kind of like, I got you, man. Don't worry. Yeah, because he's a human. You owe me one. Because he's knock dog. So I know that it, I could keep doing it to please everybody, but I need to do this for
Starting point is 00:32:10 myself and please everybody even more with other podcasts you know what i mean yeah i think one thing that's so important is that so many times in the bed i don't know i don't know if people care about this but so many times in the background i always hear you like it's it's the decisions you make are not for money it's for your people and your fans and your followers and obviously it'd be more advantageous to keep another podcast but you're not going to do it'd be more advantageous to keep scrunchy prices at what they were but when you had the opportunity to buy more volume and lower your price you did and i think you know that's a testament to you continuing to just, you know, stay in your lane and do what you do and do it with all the authenticity
Starting point is 00:32:47 in the world. You're so sweet. Well, I mean what I say. I know you do. That's why it's so sweet. It just makes me so happy. Starting point is 00:33:05 them trust you and being like a little, like I always call it, a community. Because that's how we stick together as what we trust each other and we don't do things for money. Right. It's not perfect all the time. It's not always going to go the way you expect it, but.
