Episode Date: May 10, 2022

On today’s episode, Kaitlyn is joined by the amazingly talented Canadian tennis star, Genie Bouchard. Genie discovered her passion for tennis at just nine years old and it has led her to so... much success that even Justin Timberlake knows who she is. Super casual. But, Genie is way more than just a tennis star; she is also a woman of her word. And sometimes, that leads you to date a complete stranger all because of a viral Tweet, a story which naturally, Disney buys the movie rights to. Again, super casual. Anyway, Kaitlyn and Genie chat about everything from her pro tennis career to why Jack Harlow is hot IRL to the unique Met Gala fits that have us all talking. Speaking of the Met Gala, stay tuned at the end of this episode for a little surprise segment with the Vino’s favorite stylist and BFF, Lo VonRumpf! Pino. Ready for the show. Everyone's welcome. So come on in because OTV. It's about to begin. Hey. Welcome to Off the Vine. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. And watch out now, because I'm causing. and a racket, okay? I got a tennis legend, Jeannie Bouchard, on the pod today. Yeah, that was a stupid pun. But let me tell you, she is way more than a tennis star. Fellow Canadian cutie-patutie, soon-to-be movie star, question mark, kind of. You'll have to listen to hear that story. It's
Starting point is 00:02:14 one of my favorite stories. It's so adorable. We talk about so many things. We even throw it back to reminisce about some iconic pop culture moments that we would have loved to be a part of. We got a really good pod for you earholds today, folks. So enjoy. A fellow Canadian. Where are you from in Canada? I am from a very, very small town called the Duke, Alberta. Okay, okay. I'm from Montreal.
Starting point is 00:02:46 I've never heard of that. You're from Montreal? Yes, Montreal. Oh my gosh. I just, do you know the app Marco Polo by any chance? I've heard of it, but I don't like have it. Okay, I talk to my girlfriend Anna every day and we were just talking about taking a trip to Montreal together because her husband's from there. And so they go like once a year. And I've only been once in my whole life, but it was one of my favorite places to go in Canada and I want to go back so bad.
Starting point is 00:03:11 That's what everyone tells me. Every time I say Montreal, they're like, I loved it there or I have a relative that lives there or I did like a bachelorette or a bachelor party there and everyone just like, I don't know, they just love the vibe there. And I always say only go during the summer. I don't know when you're planning on doing your trip. Oh. Well, I mean, I haven't planned anything yet. They go all the time, but they usually go in the summer because I'm sure it's like Alberta winters, right? Is it just like ridiculously cold and painful? It's horrible.
Starting point is 00:03:40 That's why I chose to play tennis and follow the sun. And I moved away when I was 12 years old. I moved to Florida. So I totally got to avoid the horrible winters after that. Oh, my. Okay. Oh, so you moved. to Florida when you were 12. Yeah, that was a smart decision. My parents have a place in,
Starting point is 00:03:59 they used to be in Phoenix, but now in Cabo in the winters. And I'm like, God, that's, that's the way to do it. Are you still in Florida now, or where are you? Right now, I'm in L.A., but I train in Florida and also part-time in Vegas, but normally I'm traveling all over the world, obviously, but I'm always following the sun. So that's the thing. We play outdoors. So it's basically in the winter, we play in Australia, in the Middle East, and then in the summer we're in Europe. And so it's just very much, I get to avoid it. I go visit family and so I get a little taste of it for a week at a time. But after 12 years of experiencing those winters, I was like, mom and dad, I got to get out here. Yeah. What made you get into tennis though? Was that something you just did as a kid and you're like,
Starting point is 00:04:36 oh, shit, I'm really good at this? Well, I didn't think exactly that way, but it was more so my parents just put all of us. I have three siblings. They put us in all these different sports like tennis, soccer, basketball, and I just love tennis, and I wanted to keep playing more and more. I, like, asked them to play more. And I have a twin sister. And so we both started together at around age five, and age six, she retired. She was like, this is not for me. And I just kept asking to play more.
Starting point is 00:05:06 And I played my first tournament when I was eight years old. And then by the age of nine, I qualified for, like, this big international tournament in France. And I got to travel to France and play tennis. And I was just like, this is the coolest thing ever. Like, I want this to be my job. So I know nine is very young to decide what you're going to do in life. But I was just like, I mean, you're like the 0.01% of people that figure, which is amazing. Like, how great is it at nine to be passionate about something and know that that's what you want to do?
Starting point is 00:05:36 And then do it. Like, that's huge. Yeah, I just, I was so determined. And to me, it was, I was going professional or nothing else. because I was like, if I'm not good to be professional, I didn't even want to play in college, because for me, that would have been, like, too painful. I was like, if I'm not going pro,
Starting point is 00:05:53 I'll just be, like, a normal college girl and, like, not be on the, like, tennis team. So I think the fact that I had kind of, like, I didn't have a plan B. It was really just, like, plan A or bust. Yeah. I think that helped me because I was like, I don't have anything else to fall back on.
Starting point is 00:06:07 But a college career is obviously a great way to go. I have so many friends that got amazing scholarships and, you know, live that college life that I missed out on. Oh, my gosh. I'm so sad about it. that are you though I missed out on the college life too and I feel like that was a blessing in disguise because I was already such a I always call myself a degenerate in my 20s so I'm like even though I feel like like my fiancee would say different he said those were like the best years that's like
Starting point is 00:06:30 you know you have so many different friendships and experiences and you know but it's I don't know I'm like who dodged that bullet for myself but yeah that's what I hear everyone says they're like the best years of my life and I'm like dang I missed out on that but I was, like, playing at Wimbledon instead, so I'm grateful for that, yes. Yeah, no kidding. I consider myself a pretty big sports guy because I've dated hockey players. So, no, I'm just kidding. I'm not kidding.
Starting point is 00:06:59 I have dated hockey players. But I feel like I've just been around athletes or, like, have friends with athletes. But you are an actual professional athlete. I think it is the coolest thing that you said that you knew what you wanted at 9 and that you competed in the freaking Wimbledon. Like, that's insane to me. That is insane. And I read that in the 2014 championships,
Starting point is 00:07:19 you became the first Canadian-born player representing Canada to reach the final and Grand Slam tournament in singles. Please explain what that means because that sounds really important. Yeah, well, thank you. So basically, no Canadian player had ever reached the finals of any Grand Slam before. And so when I did that at Wimbledon in 2014, I was the first Canadian to ever do that. So it was just kind of history.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I made history in a sense. and I was obviously very proud to do that for myself and my country. Unfortunately, I did lose in the finals. I got my butt kicked. Damn. But you live and you learn. Yeah, to this day, I still have not been able to rewatch that, like, match. Because often we try to watch, you know, tape of ourselves and film to learn and, you know, good matches and bad matches.
Starting point is 00:08:07 And that one is just so scarring, I have not been able to watch. Yeah, that's, as an athlete, I feel like athletes, have such a mindset of like, what can I do better? How can I watch back, learn from my mistakes? But then there's always got to be that one for you that you're like, oh my gosh, that's when I'm going to like, I can't, I can't watch it back because it's like almost traumatic. Did you feel like you did something wrong or do you feel like you just like, was there something that you could go back on and be like, damn it, I should have done that or was it just one of those games that you can't win? Can't win them all. Exactly. You can't win them all.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I played an opponent, Petra Kvado, who she's Czech and she's. very good on the grass surface of Wimbledon and she had won Womelden a few years before and so I just came up across an opponent who was playing out of their mind and there was not much I could do but yeah it's one of those like traumatic experiences I kind of feel like I can relate it to
Starting point is 00:09:00 my mom mentioned one time that she's never watched the videos of her giving birth to any of us and so I feel like it's something like that where it's like you can't relive that because it's just so painful you're like it was a learning curve I will do better next time, but I'm not going to relive that moment ever again. And you don't have to.
Starting point is 00:09:19 That's cool enough that you were just there in the first place. So that's a good thing to hang on you. Yes, onwards and four words. Let's go. Exactly. I love it. And you've been actually recovering recently, right? Like what happened exactly with your injury?
Starting point is 00:09:34 That's right. So I had to have shoulder surgery last summer, which was unfortunate. I never had surgery in my life. And so I made it to age 27 without needing one, but often after. athletes at some point you you know something happens and you yeah we're a major injury yeah exactly you know we really destroy our bodies doing the sport so um yeah so i've just been rehabbing since then i've been able to get back on the court um training right now i haven't played my first tournament yet the goal is to play this summer so i'm hoping for either french open or wimbledon as my first one back
Starting point is 00:10:05 and uh that's it it's just been a long process you have to be very patient i have to do all these exercises every single day. So it's very monotonous and tedious and repetitive. So it's been a tough time in that sense. But I've done some fun off court stuff and different projects and kind of lived a little like normal for a year, which is interesting to experience because I've never not had tennis for so long in my life. Yeah. Are you able to like sit in that and like kind of take it for what it is and do normal things? Because that would bring me down a little bit. You know, if you're so, you must be a routine person and like someone that lives on structure. So have you been able to like adjust and be like, okay, this is just what it is right now and I'll get past it. What's your mindset during that?
Starting point is 00:10:51 It's been a bit of both at the beginning, especially when I couldn't do a lot of rehab because I was literally in a sling for a month. There was not much I could do. So I kind of felt a bit lost. Like if I don't have a path in front of me or like specific goals to achieve, I feel a little bit like, you know, kind of lost in outer space. Yeah. So. that was a bit hard at the beginning but then I started having more structure like having to train and do that every day gives you that structure and then I did you know commentary for tennis channel and different um sponsor you know appearances and events and just having things in my calendar had me like looking forward to things and that made it a lot easier but it was interesting because
Starting point is 00:11:29 um I'm getting older I'm 28 so like I um you know will not play forever and this kind of gave me a sense of like what retirement would look like and it's always something I've been so scared of, because I'd be like, who am I without tennis? And life is also great, you know, otherwise, like normal life is great too. So it gives me like this sense of like nothing to be scared of. Like, let's go play a couple more years. But then also life will be cool after. Oh, that's good. I like that because I do think that's something that a lot of athletes struggle with is that's been their whole life. That's been your like, you eat, sleep and breathe what you do. And that's who it becomes who you are. And all of a sudden, like, you know, athletes don't
Starting point is 00:12:09 really have the longest longevity you know when it comes to because your body's like you said earlier are just getting put through the ringer so for you to be able to actually take a step back and think about that and be like okay I still have time left but this is what it could look like and that's cool too that's it's so funny because you're like I'm 28 now and I'm like I'm like I'm like so much older than you not so much but I'm older than you but it's different when you have like a tool for your career so I get what you mean by that but yeah it must have like it must be nice having things to look forward to, like, going to an event with Justin Timberlake. I just saw that on your Instagram and I'm like, casual.
Starting point is 00:12:46 What was that? You just got to go like, was it his event in Vegas? That's right. Yeah. So it was the inaugural 8 a.m. golf. That's a company he's a part of. And one of my best friends, her name is Michelle Wee. She's a superstar golfer.
Starting point is 00:12:59 And so she invited me, it was basically a charity event. So a bunch of celebs played golf. We had a poker night to raise money. And so it was really cool just to hang. meet Justin and it was funny I was talking to him and I was like he was like oh like what's the rest of your year look like and I was like okay well I play tennis professionally so I'm gonna do this as he was like I know who you are and I was just like no way he was like oh yeah we're big fans by the way and I was like I'm a bigger fan of you but I'm not gonna like get into that right now like I've been
Starting point is 00:13:28 to your concert when I was like 12 years old and he was my first concert like ever that's so he was one of my first as well yes what a cool moment for him to be like, yeah, I know who you are. You're like, okay, so I am like a professional tennis player. Like, if I, if it didn't set in before from like being at Wimbled and like that's Justin Tipper like saying he, that's so cool. No, you have those surreal moments and it's like even if they've happened before to me, just being a human being, it's never like normal, you know?
Starting point is 00:13:58 And so I like to think of myself as very, you know, normal and humble. But so like when you have these kind of like different experiences where someone's like, oh, wow, like yeah, you're totally like not normal. I mean, I just remember me and my sister's, like, loving Justin Timberlake and, like, being super fans and still listening to his music to this day. And then he's like, oh, yeah, like, I know what you do. Like, what's your schedule? Like, I was just like, you're so nice. Isn't that amazing? And he, you know, and that makes him more normal too. You're like, oh, you're just a regular human being too, who like knows who I am and I know who you are.
Starting point is 00:14:31 We're just two people having a conversation who happen to be really, really talented. Okay, really quick pause to talk about something I'm really looking forward to. And that's summer. It's coming up. It's really coming up. And I'm honestly so excited to plan like trips with friends, go visit family, generally just, you know, have a good old time. So no matter where the summer takes you, one thing for sure is that it's going to be a vibe. We all know it.
Starting point is 00:14:55 And when you're ready to make the good vibes even better, an iced cold, busy hard seltzer will be waiting for you. Okay, even though I love working out, I have to admit that sometimes it can be really hard to get motivated to actually do it, especially when I have a lot going on, which these days feels like I always do. But one workout that I always make time for, maybe because it's in my own home and doesn't feel like working out. But that's Peloton.
Starting point is 00:16:04 And that's because I actually have fun while I'm doing it. Like, I feel like I'm just hanging with my besties, Cody, and Robin. And it just really is a completely different kind of workout for me. Pelotan has a team of world-class instructors who are ready to motivate you 24-7. They have thousands of live on-demand classes, and I'm usually an on-demand kind of guy. So you can really always keep it fresh. What other kind of surreal moments have you had where you're like, oh, my gosh, this is an out-of-body experience? I'd have to say, probably going back to that, Wimbledon final, so my full name is Eugenie and my twin sister, her name is Beatrice.
Starting point is 00:17:20 And we were named after Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Sarah Ferguson in London and Prince Andrew. Wow. And so when I played, yeah, my mom is like a royal obsessed. My younger sister, Charlotte, my younger brother's William. Oh, my God, I love that. I love royal names. I love that so much. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:17:38 So we're all royal names and they love that over there because they're royal obsessed as well. So they always ask me about it in press. And anyway, I make it to the finals. And Princess Eugenie came to watch me play in the finals. So she was sitting in the royal box. And I was like, I was literally named after you and you were sitting here watching me lose. But it was like unbelievable. It was like one of those full circle life moments.
Starting point is 00:18:01 It's like you can't even grasp it. No, that, yeah, that is a total out-of-body experience. Wow, that's amazing. I want to just go backwards for a minute because we're talking about that event. You're at with the golf and you said there was a poker night. Do you bet? Do you put bets? Like, do you gamble?
Starting point is 00:18:17 Do you do like sports betting? Do you any bet? Well, first of all, we are not allowed to bet on anything tennis-related, of course. Okay, fair enough. Because being, you know, in this world, it would be not right. I actually, I pretty much don't. I spend some time training in Las Vegas. I train with Andrea Agassiz's former strength coats, Gil Reyes out there.
Starting point is 00:18:37 And Andre and Steffi came out on the court and helped me and stuff. So I was actually just there last week. And every once in a while, I'll go to the casino and play blackjack. But that's pretty much the extent of it because my thought process is I'd rather spend like a thousand dollars on a pair of shoes. I know I will have for sure instead of like risking it and most likely losing it. but then you have to understand you're paying for the entertainment right like okay that was fun but i don't know losing money is not fun to me so that's i totally feel you on that i love playing black deck but i'm the same way like i'm like or i could go get a massage and like a spa day
Starting point is 00:19:11 and like exactly feel better about myself but you did make a sports bet that turned into a bit of a romance which is this story is so great to me um i know you probably talk about it all the time but you're going to be talking about it for a really long time because they're making it into a movie but Tell me about this because I read about it, but I want to know the full story. I know you went on a date with someone from Twitter due to a little bet you made and he's a fan. And now that whole story is going to be turning into a movie. I need like full story here. It is one of those things.
Starting point is 00:19:43 That was probably another surreal experience because it was so much thanks to luck. So basically in a nutshell, I was watching the 2017 Super Bowl. I'm literally on the couch with my mom and my younger brother. like we had no plans we were doing nothing and the falcons were killing the patriots if you remember and so i was bored and i was i tweeted something i just wrote like oh i knew Atlanta would win just to like be annoying whatever and i was scrolling through my mentions which i again normally don't even do that much because i don't have the time and but it was kind of a boring game up to that point so i was scrolling through and this guy writes if the patrons come back and win we go on a
Starting point is 00:20:19 date and i was like okay there's no way this is going to happen let me just like tweet him back and like I wrote sure on top of his tweet and then lo and behold do not bet against tom brady because they come back and have the best come back in super bowl history basically and uh so then after i mean it just went viral like crazy like everyone was talking about it the next day literally they were talking about it on ESPN my uncle lives in london was like you're the number one story on bbc it was on CNN it was every i was getting stopped on the sidewalk like oh you're that Twitter girl like you did the thing on Twitter and I was like no I'm the tennis girl damn it who did the tweet I didn't I haven't done anything else in my life yes I'm the Twitter girl that's me so it was
Starting point is 00:21:02 crazy my brother was laughing at me so hard he's like you're going to have to go to date with a random so I'm like I'm true to my word I don't like people who say things and then don't follow through so I am going to do this no matter what because I said I would I have to stay true to my word so the next issue was like who is this guy so we're like we go in his profile and his profile picture is a picture of Tiger Woods and so we are all like this is obviously not Tiger Woods which means he's a super fan which means we can get any kind of type of human right now
Starting point is 00:21:32 it can be like one of those creepy super fans or like I mean who knows it can be a girl could be a guy like yeah exactly so we reached out to him my bodyguard got his like driver's license did like a background check anyway turns out he's this nice boy from Chicago who goes to the University of Missouri He was a couple of years younger than me. His name is John. And he was like, cute. He was good-looking.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Yes. I looked him up and I was like, wait, that, like, what a risky little move you played there. And it paid off. He was so cute. So we were like, okay, we're doing this. We invited him to New York. We went to a Nets game. They put us, like, courtside. They put us on the big screen. All of it happened. And I think what people loved about the story was that it looked like we could actually date. Like, we just looked like a cute. couple. Yeah. And so it was just, it was just a nice positive story and, you know, a lot of negative news that we have all the time. And it just gave people hope that like, if you shoot your shot, it could actually work out to any, you know, celebrity or any person you like, look at this. Like, it's a real life fairy tell that happens. So we hung out a few times since then. We've kept in touch. It's been so many years now since I've known him and we're good friends. And it was just one of those crazy stories. That's amazing. Wait, you guys are still friends.
Starting point is 00:22:51 the romance fizzled with the friendship is alive and well well yes well you know what's crazy I had a boyfriend at the time so like I kind of caused yeah yeah okay okay rift which may or may not have been the demise of that relationship but um all good it probably would have been something else exactly I have John so everything's good yeah no we we stay in touch because honestly it was this crazy moment that happened to both of us and like it literally changed both of our lives a little bit and And so we could just relate with each other, like, oh, my God, can you believe how crazy this is? And so the NFL invited us to the Super Bowl the year later.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And we did, like, you know, all the parties, red carpets, press. Like, we're like the, you know, NFL Twitter date couple. Yeah, it was like such a cool. We got to go on the field before the game. This was in Minneapolis in 2018. And then that summer, in the summer of 2018, my agent got an email from a producer and a writer in L.A. And they said, we read about your story. We think it's amazing.
Starting point is 00:23:49 and we'd like to shop it around to different studios and then turn it into a movie. And they sent me like a draft, like loosely based on the real story. Went to L.A., went to all the studios, like Universal Paramount Fox. Fox 2000 ended up buying it. And so now I'm like executive producer and it's in the works. Yeah, I know. And this is all because of a tweet, like the timing of one tweet. Like how do you explain that?
Starting point is 00:24:17 Yeah, you can't. that was I mean stuff like that just blows my mind all the time because timing is everything and the fact that it was just you were bored on the couch and said sure to this guy and that you were a woman of your word and stuck to it and then went for it and now it's turning into a freaking movie like are they filming it right now do you know who's playing you like do you know any more details yes so basically um since fox bought it the rights Disney has since bought Fox. And so the plan is now, it's not going to really be a Disney movie. So they basically want to make it like a modern Notting Hill, which I love that movie. And so basically, you know, like the famous
Starting point is 00:24:57 girl and the local boy meet, but this is obviously through technology nowadays. And so the goal is to attach an actress to my role and then try sell it to a streaming service. That's what we think is the best option. So we're in the process of like reaching out to different actresses and hopefully hopefully it continues. I don't want to jinks it and then nothing ends up happening. I think the fact that it got to this level was already like really cool and a success. The fact they bought the rights. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 00:25:23 No, no, no. You got to like envision it and speak it out into the universe and say who you want to play you and like act like it's already happening because that's when it will, you just got to believe in it. So you're not jinxying it. You're putting it out into the universe. I'm manifesting. Yes, exactly. Who do you want
Starting point is 00:25:39 to play you in the movie? That's a great question. So I think there are a lot of really great young, talented actresses that were looking towards. Obviously, me as like, if I've been asked this question as a younger kid, it would be someone like I watched myself. So I would go for someone more like Blake lively, who looked amazing, by the way, at the Met, or like Margot Robbie. Some people say I kind of look like her a little bit. Yeah, totally. I didn't see that.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Really, yeah. So obviously I'm thinking someone like that, but they need someone like younger than that now. So we're looking at, you know, some of the top stars that are like on these new Netflix shows and things like that. Yeah. Ooh. You know who I'm obsessed with right now? Who plays Ruth on Ozark? Ozark.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Yes. And inventing Anna, Julia Gardner. She is freaking amazing. And obviously, like, they made her look like what she does for Ozark. But she is so beautiful. And that would be amazing. I don't even know how old she is, but she's so talented. did. Yeah, keep giving me ideas. Honestly, like, my brains did. Like, the wheels are turning now
Starting point is 00:26:47 for me. As soon as you think of someone just text me, I'll be like, go to the producer like, hey, what about her? So yeah, yeah. All ideas are welcome. Okay, I'll send you a bunch of ideas because now, honestly, my brain goes there and I'll be like focused on it for the next day. You just brought up the Met and I wanted to say something about that because in addition to being a tennis superstar, I feel like you're like totally into trends from what I see on Instagram anyways and I'm not the best at trends I'm getting better but that's because one of my really good friends is a stylist here in Nashville and she helps me but I always like to talk to people about that stuff because usually you'll know more than me and I like to be up to date with
Starting point is 00:27:23 this stuff so I wanted to ask you about the met and who you what dresses you love Blake lively is an actual goddess and she just like is a showstopper at all times and she's just such a classic beauty too you know what I mean like she doesn't even she's like effortlessly a queen and I hope she knows that. 100%. Ever since her gossip girl days, honestly, like, I'm such a fan that, like, she can do no wrong in my eyes.
Starting point is 00:27:48 And I've, like, watched every movie that she's in. Even the, like, less good ones, like the other day, I was alone on my couch at, like, two in the morning watching the shallows. You know, the one with the shark where the shark just, like, swims around her for hours and hours? And it's, like, she's, like, the only cast member in this movie.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Yeah. I don't even know that one. Oh, yeah. See, I'm a fan. And I was just like, there's not much dialogue. I mean, there's no. no dialogue because she's like injured, stuck on a rock, and there's a shark that's just swimming around her. And so she's like about to die and has to try save herself. And so she's
Starting point is 00:28:17 alone. So there's no dialogue and kind of, you know, kind of a boring storyline. But I was just like, I'm so obsessed with her. I was just staring at it and watching. And Ryan Reynolds, Canadian. Yes. Yeah, I know. Was she your favorite look on the, uh, at the Met Gala? Well, I think everyone loved the fact that her dress, you know, she totally transformed. I love that color blue. I also loved Haley Bieber's dress and feather situation and like her leg sticking out was just so
Starting point is 00:28:47 beautiful and sexy. I was like, this is really cool. She's another effortless one. Like I could never just put my hair in a slick back bun. Well, it kind of is right now. But like for the Met Gala, like I would never just like slick my hair back and put on such a simple dress and look like such an elegant goddess. Like she
Starting point is 00:29:03 nailed that. I do have to say I'm not sure about Kylie's because the whole the hat situation threw me off. I really was not a fan of that. And I love her. I literally love her, but I did not like the hat. But she has us talking about it. So she did something right.
Starting point is 00:29:18 That's true. That's so true. I read a BuzzFeed article that had 22 like shocking facts and secrets about the Met Gagella. And they said that tickets to even go to it started at $30,000 per person. And it's $275,000 for a table. I'm not surprised. Are you surprised? I, well, okay, to be honest, $30,000 per person seemed low, but $275,000 for tables seems outrageous.
Starting point is 00:29:49 So I was surprised about that one, but I'm like, wait, can anyone just pay $30,000 and go? I mean, I think so, but you'd probably have to do this in advance. I'm sure at some point it gets sold out. I mean, I'm sure there are plenty of people with $30,000 that want to go. For sure. Oh, easily. And then there's seating charts and spouses aren't allowed to sit next to each other because they want you to just be mingling. But I love that. See, that is good.
Starting point is 00:30:16 I like that too. Because what's the point of going and then hanging out with the person you always hang out with anyway? Like the point is to meet new people and interact. I think that's great. Which is so interesting because usually I feel like at big events like that, like they want these power couples to be together. And I love that they separate them and everyone has to kind of like just, you know, make their own conversations. And it probably makes for like. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:37 They should do that more at different events. Like weddings. You have to like fend for yourself, you know? You got to not like have a support system on your arm and be like independent. Like, okay, can I make conversation all my own? Yeah, I love it. I wonder how people, I would thrive. I love meeting new.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Well, depends. If it was in that situation, I would freeze. If it was at like my friend's wedding, I would thrive. Right. Exactly. It's like slightly intimidating when every person is super famous. Yes. Personal goal of mine, I want to go to the Met one day.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Maybe next year. Hey, tweet it. Put it out there. Tweet Anna Wintour. Yes. Or maybe, what's his name? Jack Carlo will take you next time. Didn't you meet him too?
Starting point is 00:31:21 Yeah, we had this new balance event a couple of weeks to go in Boston, and he was so nice. And he's like, tall and good looking. And I was like, hmm. Really? Yes. He was very nice. And obviously he's super talented. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:35 I have no idea. Like, let's find out. Yeah. Let's, let's, I mean, I'm now everything is going to happen on Twitter for me. I'm like, you got to treat this because then this will happen. Everything out there. Oh, that's, yeah, because people are really in love with Jack Parlo right now. It's like a thing. And I'm like, I'm like, yeah, he's okay. But I, in person, I feel like, because he's tall, you'd be like, oh, wait, he's tall and nice and talented. Okay, I get it now. It's the tall that makes or breaks it, huh? How important is that? We sound so shallow right now. We're better than this, guys.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Obviously, we're joking. No, but hey, the nice part, I feel like that makes somebody attractive too. If they're really nice, like, if they're easy to talk to and relatable and like approachable, I find that attractive and humor. For sure. I agree. And especially when someone is like a celebrity or famous, that's my biggest thing, like meeting, you know, there are different kinds of celebrities. They're the ones who are, you know, full of themselves and kind of obnoxious and don't give you the time of day. and there's the ones who act like normal people and it's so refreshing to to converse with someone it's
Starting point is 00:32:41 like wow you're super successful i've had my success and we're like totally like oh this is a cool event we're at and we're talking like normal people yeah i just i appreciate that so much so nice and humble uh is very important and then i would say funny is probably the next thing as well because you know it's a long life we live you got to like have some humor and you got to stay interested somehow right so true belly laughing is my favorite thing in the world to do wait there's it he's a new he teased a new music video that's coming out that has freaking tapanga from boy meets world in it no way i didn't even see that i call myself a fan and i'm like okay i mean i follow him on instagram that's all i do he tweeted a teaser for the music video and
Starting point is 00:33:21 i have a confession for you about tapanga and it's actually usually confessions like that are on this podcast always embarrassing funny whatever this one i'm like mortified and okay i had to like actually put out an apology to her. So Wells, who is from the Bachelor franchise, he is the bartender of Bachelor in Paradise. And he was talking about Topanga and how that was like his childhood crush, as it was for many guys our age. And my fiance's like main celebrity crush when he was Younger was Topanga.
Starting point is 00:33:57 I love it. And somehow her boobs got brought up. And he like did something where he had salad dressing at a table. she was at and it like like spit out of the something and like went on her boob and he was like it was to panga's boobs and at the time like I wasn't thinking that I was like you know speaking about another woman's body in any way and she wrote him and was like hey um like I actually don't appreciate the way you were talking about me which obviously now looking back I'm like that I respect the hell out of you for saying something because you're right we weren't thinking about that
Starting point is 00:34:32 and I'm just like mortified that we spoke about her body and that she like had to call us out and say it made her uncomfortable because I'm such a huge fan and I would never want to make I don't care if I'm a fan or not. I would never want to make anyone uncomfortable talking about their body and I'm just like the fact that you're a fan made it even more so because you're like wait like I'm like no I respect you and I like look up to you and I looked up to you when I was younger and I just felt so stupid but I was like my gosh that happened like five years ago and I still think about it at night. Like, it still keeps me up at night that I, like, offended to Panga in any way whatsoever. And then she literally called you out for it. I mean, I respect that. I respect to howl out
Starting point is 00:35:11 of it. And I was like, damn it. Now I like you more and you don't like me. Exactly. She likes you less and now you like like her more. She probably like doesn't even remember me or forgets the whole thing and I like stay up at night about it. But anyways, do you have a confession for me? like I'll post something on social media and my family will literally be like take that down and I'm just like why because okay so one of them and it was really silly once it was like
Starting point is 00:35:42 a picture of my brother and one of my sister's ex-boyfriends and they were both like in matching little like white boxers and I thought it was so cute and they were like standing at the kitchen sink or something it was just from the back and they both like had their like middle finger out or something it was just like one of those like artsy pictures
Starting point is 00:36:00 and I posted it and then my sister got so mad and then my brother got mad and then my mom got mad and I just was like hated in the entire family for like a month they're like you forget that you have over two million people following you but that's the thing it's like people and I was on social media way at the beginning and especially in the tennis world not many like other players really did it the way I did and everyone was like oh my god like you're so amazing on social media and I was like I'm just like using it how my sisters and my friends use it and if I was a normal girl like I would be you know using it the same way just so happens I have a lot more eyeballs on my stuff. And so I think the fact that I was just
Starting point is 00:36:37 so like authentic with it and just literally like posting day to day stuff or like behind the scenes or like silly funny things is how people appreciated it. And then, but every once in a while you have to catch yourself and be like, wait, like go through the checklist. Would grandma be okay with this? Would mom be okay with this? Would that be okay with this? Friends, family. Then I wouldn't post anything. I feel like because I'm the same way. I like, I post and speak the same way I would, no matter what my situation was, because I always say people crave authenticity. People want to see that it's especially social media. And so I feel like my brain goes to, would grandma like this? No, oh, people are going to love this one.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Exactly. Put it out there. Exactly. No, it's so hard to have that balance because, I mean, look, you'll never make everybody happy and we have to accept that. But obviously, your family's values are important as well. So it's like, how do you tow that line? And I've never put anything out there that's like you know my grandma would like not approve of but every once in a while she's like hey like I saw that like bikini pose and I'm just like oh my god no so embarrassing well that's impressive that your grandma's even seen social media right yes I'm like how do you even know how to find this like I'm gonna like loki block her like she won't even she won't even know she'll like think her internet's out and be like wait I didn't load I couldn't load your
Starting point is 00:37:55 Instagram page today. What happened? Yeah, what happened? That's that Jason's grandpa has seen some stuff now from like headlines and stuff and I'm like, oh my gosh, Grandpa Lenny, I'm so sorry. So how do you deal with that? Like, do you talk to them about it or do they accept that's part of life now? It's been a whole thing because at the beginning, I think they were really like, oh my gosh, like we're more private. What is she doing? But now they're like, oh my gosh, that's so Caitlin. Like I'm such an open book. I'm so honest about everything. My sense of humor is a little bit like offside sometimes and I think they just now realize like I'm not my heart is good. I'm never trying to like hurt anyone's feelings or disappoint

Starting point is 00:40:34 If you could reverse time and be a part of any iconic pop culture moment, what would it be? Okay, I'm going to give you an example because this is the one I would want to go to, and now I'm thinking maybe your parents would be the same way. but I would want to go to the royal wedding well which which royal wedding well I go back and forth I would like to make and Markle just because I am like so obsessed with her no I'm going to go with that one because I like those two
Starting point is 00:41:03 okay okay I love he said the royal wedding and I was just like was I supposed to know which one that was because my first thought was obviously Kate and William just because that's true that was like the first I think I was original yeah yeah that was a big one but like like being at the VMAs when Kanye like interrupted Taylor Swift that was like such a huge moment are you a Swiftie or are you not I am yeah not like a diehard but for sure you know listen to her stuff growing up yeah thinking you can like you're 50 you don't even know what these songs mean and you're like yeah I can relate to this like yeah
Starting point is 00:41:39 yeah yeah I got my heart broken so I love that stuff too um honestly like as soon as you said like pop culture moment, the first thing that came to mind, if I'm being super honest, and we were just talking about Justin Timberlake, so maybe that's why he's on my mind. But like, when him and Brittany were in their full gene outfit and walked the red carpet, for some reason, as soon as you said that, I imagine myself just like right there with them. I was like, I would love to be a part of that moment. That's so funny because that is such an iconic moment. I would have loved to like be on the red carpet, like interviewing them. Like I want to, I want to know what they, I'm going to go back on YouTube and watch clips from when they were on that red carpet because that was a moment or just
Starting point is 00:42:19 when they were together in general. I think they were such a power couple. Yeah. They're both such icons. They were like the two of the biggest pop icons and now they're just in such different places in their lives and that's okay too. Yeah. I had other ones written down where like remember when Lady Gaga wore a meat dress? Yes. What what? Like okay, when you saw. that, were you like, oh, how daring of her? Or were you like, that's disgusting? Oh, that's disgusting. Yeah. I just wouldn't want to be near her. I feel like that would smell bad. Yeah, it's disgusting. It really is just not, like, I don't understand the meaning behind it or why or like. I mean, she went through a phase of like really doing out there stuff. I feel like she doesn't do that as
Starting point is 00:43:07 much anymore. And I love her fashion now more, I think, because it's still out there, but like more classy. Like just the crazy, crazy stuff for me is a little bit like unrelatable. Like, you can't even like, you know? That's just, that's not real life. I have one game for you before I let you go. And it's called, I'd hit that. So I have a list of celebrity names. I want to know if you'd hit that, meaning like, go on a date with them. Okay. I need someone because I need to have a Halloween costume as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. So like goal is boyfriend by October. Done.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Okay. Just for the Halloween costume. We're going to narrow it down here and we're going to find you a date for Halloween. So we're going to pretend all these guys are single. We can hit that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Jack Harlow. Of course. Yes. We just talked about that. That's what I figured. Okay. Tom Brady. I mean, yes.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Okay. But I mean, I love Giselle and I love their whole dynamic and their family. This is hypothetical if they were single. Of course. Okay. Yeah. no he's he is a very nice face yes yeah he does um andy murray i love andy murray just like he's so funny so i don't know if i could say yes because like he's a friend like he's just
Starting point is 00:44:22 hilarious okay so i guess no respectfully no and respectfully no okay not that he's listening to this podcast um okay pete davidson probably no to be honest yeah he's a little he's a little quirky he's all out there. I mean, you do you. But yeah, I mean, but you know what? Apparently he's super funny and we said funny is so important. See, I find him attractive because he's funny. Exactly. Yeah. Okay. What about Jake Gyllenhaal? I mean, I like him, but I've never understood like the obsession. I wouldn't call myself like a huge fan. So I'll use one of my nose on him, I guess. I like that. Post Malone. I love his song, so I'd have to say yes. I love this.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I love this. I was too. Justin Bieber. Of course. Oh my gosh. I mean, our Canadian heart draw, like, who changed the world. I got asked a question, like, as soon as I did well my first Grand Slam in Australian 2014, right before Wimbledon, I, like, made the quarterfine or semi-finals, and I got asked on court, like, right after the match in an interview, who is your celebrity crush? And I said Justin Bieber, and the crowd booed, first of all, which I was like, oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:45:32 And then he, like, tweeted me the next day and was like, good luck. for your next match and then I met him a couple months later and no way yeah and he was so nice like oh my gosh my canadian we're just like Canadian you know friends and um you know supporting each other and he was um just so nice and he was kind of in some tough moments back in the day and I just I feel like he was just so misunderstood and I've always supported him so that he was like my first celebrity the number one word I used to always use to describe Justin Bieber I be like he's just so misunderstood I've always loved him and And stayed back. But you know what? Another embarrassing story is I actually wrote him on Instagram. So when I was on Dancing with the Stars, I did a dance to one of his songs. And I did one to Lady Gaga too. And she tweeted being like, I love watching them like dance to my music. And I was like, oh my gosh. So then when. That's amazing. So when Bieber, we did Beaver song, I like did an Instagram and I was like, if Bieber says anything about this dance, like I'll get a tattoo his face or something like that. Which he didn't say anything.
Starting point is 00:46:35 He was trying to save your body. He did it out of, like, respect for your body. He didn't be a favor. But then later, I, like, wrote him a message, not like, like, it was something, like, I did, like, a joke. And he saw it. So I was like, oh, my gosh, not only did he see that message that I just sent. He probably saw the one before where I was like, I'll get your face tattooed on my body.
Starting point is 00:46:59 I was like, damn it, this is a bad. And he was like, let me avoid this girl at all costs. Clock delete. surprised. I'm not blocked. But thank you so much for taking the time today to podcast with me and come on. You are so lovely to talk to and tell everybody where they can follow you and see your little Instagram shenanigans. Oh my gosh. Yeah, just just my name, Jeannie Bouchard on Instagram, Twitter, look out for more Twitter dates. No kidding. That was one and done. That was like, I will never do that again. But it was also a great thing that happened
Starting point is 00:47:29 to me. So now you've been amazing. Thank you so much. I'm so happy you're like a fellow Canadian. I love supporting my fellow Canadians. Yes, I can't wait to see what else is going to happen for you because that movie thing, that's freaking cool. And hopefully you recover and we'll see you back on the tennis courts. Yeah, good luck to you with everything. Okay, surprise, Vyne. I was a little segment about the Met Gala with a very special guest, the incredibly talented stylist, my BFS. Lowe, he is here to break down some of the looks. Jeannie and I touched on the Met Gala little this episode, but I thought it would be fun to bring in my little expert style to the stars so low. I have some picks for us to look through together. You just tell me from your
Starting point is 00:48:09 perspective, like, what are your first impressions? What the heck is going on with some of these outfits? Sure, sure. There's a lot to unpack, but we're going to throw it into a fun little segment moment, you know? If I was your little polypocket and you just picked me out of your pocket and put an outfit on me to go to the Met Gallo, what would you put me in? Oh my gosh. See, here's the thing. What would I put you when? Well, I probably wouldn't be putting you personally in anything because that's the gag when it comes to the MetGala, you work specifically with the designer and they create something beautiful. So I'd be working hand in hand with the design house and they would usually create something. That's how it works. And then you'd wear what
Starting point is 00:48:45 they create. And when it comes to stylists, you know, for Meggala, they have a little part in it, a little. They're the sprinkles. They're not the main Sunday. The main Sunday is the designer and they have a whole design house, their own stylists for their own fashion house. So when I've had a client go to the MetGal in the past I've just given them like jewelry and a pair of shoes like it's not much yeah you know what I would do I wouldn't even go with this a designer I would just
Starting point is 00:49:10 vacuum my house and make like a Golden Retriever body suit and like wig and I would just go as like the in a sheer body suit yeah perfect yeah okay should we just start off with what the hell the MetGala even is
Starting point is 00:49:26 because I know a lot of people are like what is this event what the hell is this event what the hell is Tell me, what is it? Well, I didn't really know either until I started working in this business and this industry, but the Met Gala, the Met Ball. So it's actually formally called the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit, but it's an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costum Institute based in New York City.
Starting point is 00:49:52 So it's basically a benefit. And that's why you'll see sometimes, you know, political type figures going because it's a benefit and you know there's donations that are being made and so and then vogue is involved an winter she chooses the guest list she is very involved in picking the theme but it all goes to benefit the metropolitan museum of art okay well that's cool to know and what was the theme this year so the theme of this year's met gala was gilded glamour which there's a lot you can go without one gilded glamour. I mean, you have to just think of the gilded age. So I think for for anyone listening, I'm trying to picture like the gilded age, which is like, oh, that's like,
Starting point is 00:50:35 what do you call? Like the time of the nouveau reach, like newly rich people, like the Rockefellers, the Carnegie's, the Vanderbiltz, like it was a time when all of these specific industries in America were booming. Like oil industry banking, invest, like everything was very opulent, very over the top. There was, you know, very rich. class and a lot of poor people in America at that time. But it was very over the top. But I think that specific time frame I'm trying to think like Gilded Age was like, I don't know, like 19. Let me actually look it up specifically. Yeah, 1870 to 1900. Oh, I love that. Okay. Wow. I really didn't do my research before this Met Gallup before I judged everybody's outfit. Yeah. Well, and so, I mean,
Starting point is 00:51:22 this one I felt like a lot of people didn't really go with the theme. But if you think of that particular time think like Bridgeton vibes because that Victorian, the bustles and the lace and the high necks and like these exaggerated body forms. And like the white backwards hats. Okay. Sure. That's what Kylie Jenner wore and I was so confused. Yeah. I mean, it was cool, but like I wasn't feeling it. I think that that outfit was more like an ode to Virgil, the designer who passed away because she was wearing off white. And so I think maybe that was more for him but like that design aesthetic but yeah it didn't really play into the theme the amount of fabric that was on theme i guess what was the what was the point of the backwards hat i don't know
Starting point is 00:52:08 artistic vision hell i just to make it feel a little bit more street like it's you know off white like their their brand they have a lot of cool styles like that i don't know wasn't something i liked the veil was dumb the veil is dumb let's look at um these three that i've got in front of us right now. We've got Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Lizzo. Okay. Lizzo, I feel personally, rocked the hell out of this look. Love it. I love Lizzo. I mean, that outfit just feels really heavy, literally, like it's like a bed spread. But I love like the detail. The gilded, of course, refers to gold. And so it has all the gold lame on it. It's really pretty. It looks heavy. She had the corset, which is really
Starting point is 00:52:52 cool. The jewelry, everything was working. Even the way she did her hair. That's, she definitely understood the assignment. She did, yes. Yes. I feel like everything about this I was really, really into. I really liked the jacket. Gigi Hadid's, wait, we're not there yet, but that just came in my mind. And I was like, what was it winter?
Starting point is 00:53:11 Okay, what did you think about Sarah Jessica Parker's? Not my favorite. But the thing is, Sarah Jessica Parker, I feel like she has completely embodied Carrie Bradshaw. And so this feels like Carrie Bradshaw at the Met Gallet. I don't even watch sex in the city, but in my mind, I was like, oh, shit, Carrie Bradshaw's at the MetGala. Like, that's where my brain went. Sarah Jessica Parker's MetGala look pays homage to an unsung black designer. Christopher John Rogers.
Starting point is 00:53:39 Cool. So that's the thing. Like this, it felt very Vivian West would like, but it's not. And I like that she's working with a designer who's not necessarily like main, mainstream, like a Gucci or something. I don't love it. But I feel like she can kind of get away with anything because it is just SJP. She can kind of wear whatever she wants. And so, and we'll all kind of just celebrate her in it because she's been taking risks and chances and setting the tone for fashion at the McGallet for years.
Starting point is 00:54:08 So this might not be my favorite, but like I like the shape. She's kind of going in with the whole silhouette of that particular era. So, hey, it's okay. Yeah, it's okay. And what did you think about Kim Kardashian losing 16 pounds? to fit in Marilyn Monroe's dress. Is that iconic, or are we concerned? I'm concerned.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Okay. Yeah. I mean, good for her if she wants to drop LBs, whatever, but I don't know. How do you feel about this dress? I think it's so freaking cool that she's wearing Marilyn Monroe's freaking dress from singing Happy Birthday, Mr. President. Like, that is such a moment. The fact that she got to wear that specific dress, I feel like is almost like a sin.
Starting point is 00:54:51 Like nobody should have touched it after Marilyn Monroe did. I think it's an abomination. I think it borders on one of the worst things to happen. You know, there's that phrase. It's like, what is it like? Because you can doesn't mean you should. Right. And so with this one, I mean, it's not necessarily the most beautiful gown,
Starting point is 00:55:09 but it is a 60-year-old Jean-Louis, one-of-a-kind, custom-made piece for Marilyn Monroe. It's, what, over 60 years old? The reason why I don't think she should have worn it was because, I mean, come on now, it's like wearing a fashion artifact. And so I think for Marilyn, when she wore this over 60 years ago, it was such a huge moment. It was so provocative because here was this actress who, one, was sleeping with the sitting president, JFK. Allegedly, that's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Allegedly. Okay. And then also, just for that specific time, this dress on Maryland was almost flesh tone. It fit her like a glove. She wore nothing with it, like literally didn't have underwear. or anything when she wore it. And it blended in with her skin tone. So that back then was like, oh, my God, everybody was talking about this dress. It became so talked about controversial, iconic for Marilyn. And it literally looked like she was just covered in 2,500 intricately sewn Swarovsky crystals.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Right. And so really tan Kim Kardashian, it just looks like a dress. Like, if you didn't know this was Marilyn Monroe's dress, she could have got that from Fashion Nova. Totally. She could have got that from a local Windsor. But also, I'm just like, would Marilyn Monroe have wanted Kim Kardashian to wear her dress? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:56:29 I don't think so, though. I would say no to that. I know I don't want her to. And the whole, like, losing weight for it, oh, there's so much just, yeah, there's so much disordered eating out there. It's like, I could see doing, she compared it to losing weight for, like, a role. But at the same time, I look at it like a Christian bail or any actress that was dropping pounds to play a role that, you know, for a film that art that's incredible losing it to fit in a dress you know yeah it's for an event
Starting point is 00:56:58 she's gonna wear it for 40 minutes she's gonna sweat uh i don't know right take the dress off kim do better i guess if it was a role like for an actual film or something that was a bit more significant that would be like i don't know like an impactful film or i don't know anything but like it's just to like look hot for a carpet you know which i guess there's a lot of people out there who will starve themselves for like a special event a lot of people do that sort of thing but yeah you know if someone's wedding is coming up every the bridal diet like that's again but it's toxic diet culture and i just feel like when you have that much influence i feel like you have to be very careful when you say things like that because now there's all these young girls out there who are going to be starving themselves
Starting point is 00:57:38 before prong because that's what can do you don't have to eat carbs or sugar and then you're like your body actually needs that right so it's and she said i need carbs refined sugar so anyway it's Lily Reinhart came out. She was very triggered and she usually doesn't say anything about this sort of stuff, but she was like, that's not cool. And she did an interesting interview about it. Oh, I'll have to look that up. I would like to listen to that. What did you think about this freaking iconic queen?
Starting point is 00:58:04 Blake Lively. Yeah. Obsessed. I love it. It fits are great. Ryan Reynolds looks like he's top deck of the Titanic. Yes. Oh, and so this dress, though, like I didn't realize how iconic it really was or just how smart.
Starting point is 00:58:18 this dress is. Okay, so the actual color, this coppery color, is meant to represent the actual Statue of Liberty. And so the Statue of Liberty was delivered in the Gilded era, the Gilded Age. And so when it was delivered, it was copper. But then she had this transformational moment. Did you see when she removed the gloves? And that's so pretty. And then that's basically representing the current state of the Statue of Liberty, how copper oxidizes. And it becomes that pretty like limestoney, Tiffany blue color. Which I thought was pretty cool. If you see this really pretty, like, fabric that's kind of intricately placed, layered, like a Gratian-type fabric, how it's kind of like sweeps across her midsection, that's to kind of give an ode to the fabric that's Gratian style on the Statue of Liberty.
Starting point is 00:59:07 And then the intricate details, this is a Versace piece that they custom made for her. But the bodice itself, it's kind of representing architecture of the Gilded Era. So all of the brick buildings and stuff, you'll notice it's heavy, heavy beating in the middle bodice. And then what was really cool is the skirt, there's intricate details, like actual drawings in the bottom of the skirt. And the skirt is basically paying an ode to the Grand Central Station in New York City, which was built during the gilded age. And so everything in this outfit is smart, thought out. in so detailed. I love it.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Wow. That made me, I loved it before knowing all these facts and now I love it even more. That's genius. Yeah, I feel like they did a really good job.
Starting point is 00:59:58 And you could tell this dress like just looking at it like that would be pretty for a red carpet. But there's so much thought she was, I think she was chairing this event. Like her and Ryan were with Anna Wintour as the chairs of this one.
Starting point is 01:00:13 Oh, that's cool. Like Rihanna did it one year. Remember when Rihanna did it and she dressed like this event? the Pope. Yeah. Yes. I do. Holy crap. Yeah. Can we talk about just the Kardashians in general? Because Courtney, did you see Courtney Kardashian's outfit? Yeah. Can we talk about that? Let's get to that. I don't know if it's on here. We're looking at a best dress list and I don't think she would make it. Okay. Well, friggin, how did Vanessa Hudgens get in there? But she looked phenomenal.
Starting point is 01:00:42 I mean, she looks great. She's wearing a sheer dress. Uh, it's, it's. very like coven witchy vibes which i know she's all about that i don't love muskino's the designer for that i feel like gilded age type fashion she should have incorporated some sort of gold it's just a pretty dress it doesn't necessarily fall in line with the theme but i don't think anybody was thinking of the theme for this one dakota johnson clearly got her inspiration from my body suit from dancing with the stars to her yeah the costume designers at dancing with the stars created that one-of-a-kind piece for Dakota. Oh, my God, Hillary Clinton.
Starting point is 01:01:19 There she is. Okay, here. Here's Kylie. That Kylie Jenner dress, Kendall Jenner wore a similar dress by Prada in Black. Lots of ruffles, lots of fabric. It kind of looks like tripe. The thing is, if you just went downtown, I'm not kidding. This Kylie Jenner moment, this dress is probably worth thousands and thousands of dollars. But if you and I just went downtown, little Canadian Maple Delight, take your ass downtown
Starting point is 01:01:42 on santi alley i could get that dress for a hundred bucks it looks like a straight up kinsenietta dress yeah not i mean i love a kinsenietta but you know i don't think the dress is doing her any favors in regards to like being a high fashion moment that's true disappointing i feel you on that okay here the kardashians let's zoom okay break down Courtney's outfit for me i'm oh no how did we get here yeah that outfit was rough see here i don't mind if like okay let's start with Chloe because that does there's nothing really that like crazy about it. It's just a beautiful
Starting point is 01:02:18 gold column style dress that fits her like a glove and she's wearing gloves and has like this like silky type stole with it. Yeah. But like it's basic but she looks great. Yeah. No one's going to look at Chloe and be like oh wow think twice about putting that number on. Doesn't
Starting point is 01:02:34 look flattering. So I think that's what I always think when it comes to clients like even if you want to go basic at least make sure it's super flattering fits you and looks it looks good yeah but Courtney like it's not flattering it looks like she has depends on it's a big old diaper and so I don't I don't like it I don't get it it it's just not for me I like the big like the oversized shirt on top like that could be kind of cool but yeah I don't mind that oversized shirt on top the crop top oversized whatever but I'm curious what her explanation is for
Starting point is 01:03:05 this do we know I have no idea what maybe there is like she was just like the designer gave me this. I'm going to rock it. That's the thing. Sometimes these designers, you know, you're being invited by them. And I feel like with, you know, Courtney, the Kardashian, the power of the Kardashians, they probably have a bit more creative control. But yeah, this one just misses the mark. And I don't really know where she's going with this one, but I don't want to go wherever she thought she was going. Yeah, I'll take a knee on this one. Take a knee. I'm not going to go. What about Kendall's bleached eyebrows? Would you ever bleach your eyebrows? For the Met Gala I would
Starting point is 01:03:42 You would not No I probably wouldn't These eyebrows have been through hell and back And I don't need to put them through anything else Oh I mean I think Well it's a beautiful prodded dress I think I'm not down for the bleached eyebrows But I think it looks very like fashion ooh
Starting point is 01:04:00 And the top is beautiful It fits I mean Kendall Jenner is a stunner Like even with bleach brows She's like seven feet tall Like, you know, she's just... Okay, who is your favorite dress of the night? Oh, I loved Cardi B. She was covered in Versace.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Here we go. Like, the gold. She was like a million gold. She was in money. She doesn't really need the D. She needs the money. I love Cardi B. Oh, you know who really turned it out? I don't know the actresses name, but the cast of Bridgeton, Lady Whistleblower or whatever the hell her name is. Lady Whistleblower? Lady Whistleton? Thank you.
Starting point is 01:04:37 Whistle down. Yeah. I loved her outfit. She was great. Yeah, I loved what she wore. I wish you could bring it up on here, but that was pretty strong. It was very on theme.
Starting point is 01:04:50 Oh, I loved Billy Elish. Oh, Billy Elish looked freaking fabulous. I loved her outfit. Yeah, beautiful. And she had like these like mint green type of gloves. Okay, amazing. I have to run and I took up a lot of your time. So thank you.
