Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Grape Therapy: Bachelorette Finale Recap (and wedding planning-ish) with Jason Tartick
Episode Date: August 12, 2021Kaitlyn saves the best for last and has her fiance Jason Tartick join her to recap the finale of Katie’s season of The Bachelorette. But before they dive into recapping, Jason shares an upd...ate on what he’s been up to, more about his experience marrying two of his good friends, and then Kaitlyn and Jason jump into talking about their own wedding plans! Jason has a loooooong “scroll-worthy” list of wedding to-dos including venue site visits sans Kaitlyn while she is still away filming Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette. The two talk about comparing apples to snap peas (?!), Team Greg vs. Team Katie, and the presence of a half empty bottle of maple syrup the morning after the fantasy suite with Blake. Kaitlyn continues her movie quote streak by taking Jason through the quad and into the gymnasium, droppin’ movie quotes throughout to see if he is pickin’ up what she’s puttin down and we find out if Jason would rather ask for Kaitlyn’s hand in marriage from Aunt Lindsay or face a MO-WO challenge. Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.
We're going to talk with OTV.
Podcast One Presents Off the Vine, Grace Therapy.
Caitlin Bristow's going to answer your questions.
Drink to your confessions and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor.
Let's shake it up some more. Here's Caitlin.
Welcome to Great Therapy.
I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow.
Was it!
Okay, I have to say, I was literally hunched over laughing yesterday.
Every time I got to stop and read one of the movie quote messages that so many of you sent over the community text.
And I might now speak fluently in them.
Okay, lots of very inappropriate ones, but I'm not even mad.
I'm impressed.
I've been so freaking busy filming, random hours,
podcasting, barely sleeping.
I keep losing my Ethernet cord.
You know, our pets' heads are falling off.
I feel like you guys, all that are listening,
know what I'm saying, but Jason won't.
Anyways, the finale was on Monday.
What an ending.
I feel like I've been released from prison
because now I can talk all about it,
but also not because I'm locked up tight again for Michelle's season.
So I've saved the best for my last recap.
My man, Jason, we recap the finale.
he is very much a details guy
so I can't wait to hear his take
on some of the drama, interesting situations
Wowsers, Aunt Lindsay, coming out
swinging, but Blake gulp back
his emotions and was like, so
you're saying there's a chance.
And then yes, we got to see the happy
ending we all hoped we'd see for sweet
sweet Katie. I'm excited
to recap this one with Jason and talk
about Katie and Blake
and their new journey.
I'm in a glass case of emotion.
Hey, honey, do you think KFC is still open?
What?
Honey, do you think KFC is still open?
Are you talking to me right now?
Yeah, I think KFC, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
What are you talking about?
This proves my point.
I was talking on my last podcast with Man and Matthews about how you don't get movie quotes.
Well, no, I just don't know.
movie quotes it's not that i don't get well i guess i don't get them because i don't know them you didn't get
that one no what was that will feral old school he gets after streaking he gets in the car and he's like
honey do you think kfc's still open now i know the scene you're talking about but movie quotes and like
name of actors and actresses the worst in the world the worst but everyone has that friend like
everyone has i could name my two friends in high school that know every line they were
repeated to go back and forth, you're that girl in the group. Yeah, I am and I'm proud of it.
But that's like. And you know what the worst is? Here's the worst. The worst is when Caitlin will
find another person at her level. And it's just like four of us. And all of sudden, we might as well
just like the other people might as well just go home because all night, that's all they'll do.
There's no other conversation. It's just movie quotes from every single movie out there. It's
unbelievable. It's like one of my favorite pastimes to movie vote. And like,
your sisters, oh, your mom and sister are good at that. Yeah, my sister is really good at.
That's so funny. We also talked about the fact that I might, I was like, I think I need to go to
therapy with Jason because you don't like friends. Like that to me is still something that's
very unattractive. What are you talking about? I think you have me, I think you have me and your other
boyfriend confused Lowe. Lowe doesn't like friends. I have never.
watch friends like start to finish but when i watch friends i enjoy it well you do yeah and so remember
i mean like we watched that reunion and i was like crying i'm like this is amazing that's true but
okay that's what it was i did get you confused with low then because i low genuinely hates it like
he hates it i thought when you watched it you didn't find it enjoyable no not friends what's that one
that cartoon one i cannot stand that one we might have to go to therapy for family guy i'm the only guy
I just think it's so stupid.
It's very stupid.
You know what?
It's now that I'm 36 years old, I had it on my TV the other day.
And I was like, it is so stupid that it's good.
But it's so bad.
Like the humor is so inappropriate, which is also funny.
Because I saw a meme the other day where somebody was like, how in a society of people that grew up on South Park and family guy, are we all so sensitive and like a fence in everything?
It's wild.
It's wild. I'm also, I wonder if there's other people out there like this like me.
I actually don't. This is such a strange comment. And it's such an unpopular opinion.
I don't really like comedies. I don't think comedies are that funny. I would never, ever, ever go out of my way to buy a ticket to a comedian show, like ever.
What? Ever. I would go to a concert all day, every day, DJ, set, anything. But I just don't, I don't know.
Oh, I disagree with you on this one.
Oh, I know.
This is your thing.
I live for stand-up comedy.
I think it is so funny.
The stuff people, the bits people come up with because I think I've always dreamt of having a bit where I'm like, that's my bit.
Like, I go up and I make people laugh.
All right.
Put this out there.
If someone, you can put it on Twitter or whatever, if you can send me a clip, I will watch it.
Keep it under five minutes.
I'll watch it.
And I'll tell you, and if I think it's funny, I'll tell you.
But I don't think most people are funny.
I just don't know.
Do you think I'm funny?
I think your quick wit is unbelievably hilarious.
But that's not like a stand-up show.
Yeah, but do you think I could do stand-up?
I think your quick way.
I think podcasting is perfect for you because you have the quick sharpie like snaps.
Yeah, but you can.
But you don't like to be your whole thing is you don't like to be scripted.
So like I don't think you could do.
scripted stand-up.
Oh, okay.
You think you could?
Yeah.
All right, let's do this.
Okay.
At your next live podcast, I'm going to sit front center, first seat, and I'm going to
see how long I can go without laughing.
No, I will, no, that's so mean.
And then we'll have to do, like, a bet.
Like, if I make it so long, like, loser takes a shot.
First of all, I would make you laugh in two seconds.
I would.
I would just, that would, I mean, I don't know.
Okay, try and keep a straight face right now.
Okay, go.
Just kidding.
See?
Made you laugh.
Hey, where the dogs?
Are the dogs with you?
Yeah, they're right at my feet.
Hi, babies.
Oh, they can't hear me.
They can't hear you.
I got the head sign of, yeah.
I miss them so much, Jason.
It's like, I was, you know how I called you three times in a row in the middle of the night?
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Because I was having such bad anxiety and I, like, imagined them laying next to me.
And I was like, I cannot live without them.
You've done this several times since you've been gone.
And that's my biggest concern is when someone calls me more than once in a row.
Once in a row?
Like, if someone calls me once, I'm like, by the world, the world's worst.
I will not pick up almost any call.
I hate phone calls.
Not with me.
Unless it's you, my mom, my dad, and my business partner.
People I'll pick up.
Other than that, if I don't have you scheduled, I'll almost never pick up.
I hate phone calls.
But when I get scared shitless when somebody, even if it's like a random number,
you call me twice, I'm picking up.
And so when I wake up and I see that you've missed called three times, I freak out.
Remember you did that the other night too when you got, when you called me three times.
And I was like, I was like calling you not and stop in the morning.
I'm like, what's wrong?
What's wrong?
What's wrong?
And you're like, oh, well, I was just trying to wake you up.
I was like, no.
Oh, I had anxiety and I wanted to talk to you.
And I feel like you do usually answer if I call twice in a row.
And this time I was just like, I really obviously miss you and I miss the dog so much.
And I'm like, you know how I love my alone time and like totally fine with being on my own.
But this long and like, I don't know, I just feel so lonely over here.
Yeah, that's got to be tough.
It's got to be tough.
We miss you too.
That's really hard for you.
But we'll see you in less than two weeks, which I love.
Pretty much two weeks.
Anyways, what have you been doing?
Tell everybody what you've been doing.
I mean, everyone follows you on social media, but what have you been doing?
Then all over the place, I guess, since you left, I married a couple.
That was pretty fun.
Yeah, what was that like?
Were you so nervous?
I was, so I don't get like nervous.
Like I just, the other day I spoke to Capital One, the CEO of Capital One went on.
There are a thousand interns and I spoke to them right after.
That I was like so excited for.
Wasn't nervous at all.
This wedding with 190.
people. I was freaking out before. Yeah, because it's only like the biggest day of their life.
Yeah. Well, even think like some of the live TV, like Colton's live for me, right? You know there's
millions of people. It's live. You screw up. Like, that's not good. This is 190 people. And I was so
nervous because they're like, it's the biggest moment of their life. Yeah. They'll always remember.
And top of it, it's only 190 people, but it's all the 190 people that, like, you know all of them. You go deep with
And there's like no, it's kind of like the show must go on.
Paylapone.
The show's got to go on no matter what.
There's no backup plan.
It's not another speaker.
It's not another person.
Like, you can't screw this up.
But it was, it went really well, which I'm excited about.
But damn, it took a long time.
Is this something that you're going to like take on as a new career as ordain minister?
It's actually funny.
He said that because it's the exact opposite.
I told my buddies when I was with them, I was in Chicago this past weekend.
And I saw some of my buddies from Geneseo.
told them off. I'm like, if I'm ever asked to do this again, I will almost 100% say no,
because it's such, such a big job for a big moment, I probably prepared like 10 to 15 hours
in a week that I did not have 10 to 15 hours prepared. So I was preparing like at night,
like two, three in the morning. Yeah, I remember. I was like, can you come to. But that was cool.
And then this past week, we got, we went to the FedEx pro.m. We played that. I got to, oh,
this is cool. Kate. You'll like this. You got to play like, each like, whatever person,
they called the Celebrity Tournament
had a group. And so the guy
from Forrest Gump
and Sixth Sense that I see dead people
he was there. Haley Joel Osman.
Haley Jee, great guy had dinner
with him. The guy from Glee
his name's Cord. His name was Sam
on the show. He was
fantastic. There was a guy
from Desperate House. A bunch of actors
fascinating because I got to sit down with him
and like ask them questions about that life.
And it's just such a
fascinating world like the career
of an actor and also like the mental component
of it was blown away. Do you think
Haley Joel Osmond just knows that
people call him the icy dead people guy?
Yes.
Wait, he's in one of my favorite movies
of all time. Have you ever seen Pay It Forward?
No.
I just got a whole, like, head to toe body chills
remembering that movie. Oh my God, we have to watch it.
It's... Yeah. He is such a good little actor. I mean, he
grew up and I don't think he acts anymore but oh my gosh we have to he does he does he still
acts oh yeah yeah they're talking all about auditions and everything oh really yeah

Now back to Off the Vine Grape Therapy.
Wait, I need to rewind for a second.
Who's going to marry us?
Because now that you say that, like, you would never do it again,
you probably don't want to ask somebody to do that because you know the
effort and like I would do it again Kate if it was like it's such an honor it's probably like
one of the highest honors one that I'll never forget so I just when you said career it would
take a lot for me to do it for someone like I didn't know right but if a friend asked and we
were very close I would I would 100% do it but I don't know I don't know what do you think
I did really want Chris Harrison but now I feel like yeah that's just a
goes without saying like i did i really did want him you feel like well i i just feel like it's
he's got his own stuff going on now and it's like i don't know if it's i don't know it's just
obviously different now do you think your friendship's been impacted by the role that you take on now
yeah not because i want it to be impacted or not because i think it's weird it's just it is weird
it's a weird situation because obviously what happened it all happened so fast
and he was the face of the franchise,
the host of the show for 20 years.
We all loved him and respected him for it, still do.
And then what happens,
and I haven't talked to him as much as I would like to,
but I know that he knows that what he did was wrong.
I know that he has been doing every sort of thing
he could possibly do to work on learning and growing as a human being.
Like, he's doing everything that he's doing everything
that he possibly can. And I, you know, I think a lot of people miss him on the show. And I think
I miss him. And like, I wished him a happy birthday. He said thanks. Give Jason a pat on the
butt for me. Like, but I think it's, it's a weird situation because I do not want anyone,
you know, people have their opinions on the internet. God. I mean, all the opinions. But everyone's
like, bring back Chris Harrison. You girls suck, blah, blah. A lot of love. A lot of love. But, you know,
there's the people that stand Chris Harrison and I'm like wait we're not trying to replace him like
I know that they you know obviously had to bring someone else on to you know carry the show
essentially but we're not replacing him he was very much a host we are very much just a new
perspective of mentors coming in that have been in these ladies positions like it's just so
different I think you would agree with this he's irreplaceable that's not yeah that's not
Yeah, that's not your role.
I think you guys have such a, it's, you can't even, it's like apples to, like, I don't even know, like snap peas.
It's just, like, it's such different roles, right?
Apple's to snap peas?
Like, it's just so different.
Yeah, it is so different.
You know, he's a professional television host who's been doing it for 30 years.
You guys have been in the same position as these leads.
Like, you can, you know, you're on the floor crying with someone because you know you've been there.
Yeah.
So it's just totally different.
But I do think maybe on the dust said,
and when you have a little bit more time,
and you guys should find a time to just talk through it.
I truly miss him.
You guys are both great, like, great people that are very reasonable.
Well, it's very hard in his situation because he, you know,
not to beat a dead horse, but he truly did screw up.
But I think, you know, a lot of people in Bachelor Nation in that moment
had a really tough position to be in because we all love him so much.
And he's like family.
I think you're right.
Once, like, some dust settles, I would love to talk to him.
I would have wanted to marry us.
And so who else do you think would be on that list?
Oh, look, Minnie, my producer and friend said, I will marry you if he won't.
You sure you want to take that on, Minnie?
We will have to think through it.
One of the million wedding things that we have to get done here soon.
Yeah, that's, okay.
Well, yeah, let's just give a little update before we just jump into, like,
recapping. We'll do a quick recap, but I want to update people on like wedding planning because
it's so hard because we're apart right now and you're having to go look at wedding venues by
yourself. Yeah, next Monday, I'm going by myself to look at wedding. It's right in front of me,
August 16th, Jason in Nashville, looking at wedding. So that's what I got going.
You'll put me on FaceTime, though. But yeah, so looking at venues, which is super exciting. We've
hired a well we're still you know just finalizing the deal with our wedding planner which is
wildly exciting and now just going through all the specifics yeah we're so different that
it's hilarious but i love how when you get in a zone about the wedding you get in the zone
for example i'm very i'm very focused but i'm focused on something that's it i woke up
to these texts.
For the wedding, I see, get ready, ceremony, photos, celebration, after hours,
raw bar for sure, cigar roller, cigars have the date and our initials and quotes, etc.
Should we have a piano player, band, DJ?
Rehearsal dinner, I would love more informal.
Live band, open bar, just Nashville fun.
The formality can be the ceremony, welcome party.
Need formal travel itineraries like bounded for all travelers.
Obviously, people have to go on their own, but they have to know where to go.
ceremony should be super quick we should fit roles into the ceremony for those we care about and love but can't be in our wedding party we have to think unique Caitlin and Jason maybe it's a rehearsal wedding and a unique live band next day Nashville style but private we need a Google sheet for idea I woke up and this is how I run my life I batch things so I batch it and that you were sleeping because we're in different timetable so I had to get it all down that's a scroll that's a scroll
That's a scroll right there
But that's all through perspective
Like that's all we talked on the wedding
That's like it
I loved it so much because I was like
Oh my gosh my little groomzilla
I am not a groomzilla
I just want to like get things done
And we haven't done any we have done nothing
But that's what a wedding planner is for
Minnie my podcast producer and friend
Is a wedding planner
she's done gazillions and gazillions of weddings and minnie is that not what a wedding planner is for
wedding season kid you're sandbagging son of us because i'm gonna get all these messages hey you're not involved
you're not involved i i just had ideas when i was sitting there laying in my i'm sleeping let me put this
let me make it very crystal clear i was turned on i was like let me make this crystal clear i will not be a groomzilla
period end of story i think you will i think you're going to the day of be very much like this
needs to happen. Why is this not happening? You don't think so? No. Oh, interesting. Okay.
I don't know. I just picture. I just, anyways, I loved it because I was like,
I just love that you're thinking about the wedding and wanting to plan it. And I just love it.
I thought it was really sweet. We haven't done anything for the way. So I'm trying to,
I had some ideas and wanting to get them on paper. No, I loved it. I truly loved it. Did you see
the preview for Bachelor in Paradise? I did. Yep. And?
I thought it's going to be crazy.
I actually was like questioning the whole little John thing,
but I actually think it's awesome.
His voice was perfect.
I was like, what are we doing here?
But when he was in there in that recap,
I was like, this is going to be epic.
And I think it's going to be like the craziest show out.
Like, I don't know.
This is, I feel like it's even taking another spin off.
I don't want to say the deep end, but like kind of been the weeds.
Yeah, like a shit show.
But that's what we love about Paradise is the shit show that it is.
David Spade's hosting, little John's hosting. Demi is there who truly is she, there's no one
who loves to make television more than Demi. Yeah, and she's good at. She's great at it. She's
great at her in the pot. She's got the quick witty line. She's funny. Like when I saw Demi on
there, I'm like, I'm watching, right? I think she drives like television viewership, which is a
beautiful thing. Demi, Lil John, Thomas. Oh my gosh. It's so, it's such an anticipatory.
season because it's been two years since it's been on and I feel like all these cast members have
been cooped up waiting for their chance to shine on paradise and like they're all horned up
because they've been in quarantine and like I just think it's going to be insane well even like the
gay like the guys are kissing the guys the girls are kissing the girls I was like this is like
I don't know it's like college spring break right here it's gonna be that's what it feels like
And the one thing, it's like, I don't know, where, after I saw that recap, I go, where the hell's Wells?
Oh, yeah.
What the hell's Wells?
I saw him.
It looked like he was kind of crying in one of the previous.
Oh, was it?
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I feel like it's like a running joke in Bachelor World to cut him out of.
Like, what the hell?
He's so talented.
He is, I think he is great at what he does.
He's incredible.
And the bore he's involved, like he's smart, funny, love is.
I think he's great.
Yeah.
So I want to see Wells.
What do you think about David Spade is the host?
Love it.
He's been a fan of the show for so long, and he's so funny.
And I feel like, what did he say?
He was like, the girls are good looking, the guys are good looking, and I'm the host.
He's, and he was just filling in for Kimball.
I feel like David Spade.
It's like back and better than ever.
Yeah, he's making a solid comeback over here.
Yeah.
He's, I mean, he's just so funny.
This is Off the Vine Grape Therapy.
What is one thing that stands out to you about this finale?
I mean, the one thing that stands out for sure is the battle between Katie and Greg.
I mean, Katie and Greg just going at each other.
I think that that stood out.
And then, I mean, Auntie definitely stood out.
There's no chance Blake was going to get past that.
Aunt Lindsay.
Yeah, and I mean, it was kind of just an interesting finale.
you have, you know, the whole Greg, Katie situation.
On top of that, you have, like, you know, poor Justin.
Like, first of all, I was like, wait, Justin's gotten very far.
And I, like, feel like I didn't see enough of them.
And then he just got completely cut off.
But interesting, have we ever seen a Bachelorette do that,
essentially have one fantasy suite and only bring one person to meet her family?
I don't think we've ever seen that.
I don't think so either.
Colton did that, but I don't think a Bachelorette
has it was a very interesting season the aunt lindsay has zero chill and i kind of loved it like
people were so mean on the internet because they're like wow she's so rude and i was like she is
literally all of you at home she's all of you at home saying like you don't know each other like
you you she literally um like no she's like a living this is not how it works she's like a troll
that's on tv yeah she's like this isn't how it works we don't need you like ultimately you mean
nothing like that's what everybody at home is saying all the time and then when she's on she was
like the voice of the viewer yes the voice of the viewer the voice the reason but she was in my opinion
she was rude like she was there was there was no any type of like a fair conversation
no matter what Blake said Blake would have lost and he there was no win-win and Blake handled
it perfectly he's like who would you rather as your in-law but
Barb or Aunt Lindsay?
Oh, my God.
What a great question.
I just thought of it.
They should bring a panel back of like all the legendary family members and grill the people.
Like, hey, they should prep the family.
Like, hey, here are things you should know.
We've been here.
These are things you should look out for.
That would be incredible.
Give the answer the question.
Barbara and Lindsay.
Are you saying like as an in-law?
Yeah.
I'm going to go with Barb
Oh yeah
Yeah
Oh my gosh
Oh my gosh
So we kind of got after it with the wine last night
And I'm just
Hair extensions and nails
You guys just get
Are you getting bombed all the time
They're just partying your ass off
You start drinking tequila like 1 p.m.
I put in a 14 hour workshop
That was in bed by 9 p.m.
I got to do this differently.
Are you kidding me?
You have been in Chicago, in Buffalo, in Memphis, going on benders over there.
Don't even get, I'm stuck in a hotel trying to fucking live.
Survive over here.
And I've got hair extensions and fingernails on my couch.
Ew, I'm disgusting.
Okay.
You know, when you fill out questionnaires for The Bachelor of the Bachelorette to go on the show and they're like,
what would an ex say about you?
They didn't ever ask that.
Oh, okay.
So we had like a whole questionnaire to fill out like,
what's your fears?
What's this?
What's this?
What would an X say about you?
And all I could think of was that I leave my hair extensions laying around everywhere.
And that's what I said like freaking six years ago.
That's so funny.
If you could fill that question out, what would an X say about you?
What would they say?
I thought we were doing a bachelor recap.
Why can you answer the question?
I'm allowed to ask my guess anything I want.
What would an ex say about me?
Yeah.
So like what?
Anything.
Like if I just walked up to one of your ex, I'd be like, what do you have to say about him?
What would I say?
I'm big on like not burning bridges.
So I don't know.
It can be something nice.
It doesn't have to be something bad.
Nice guy.
Great.
Great.
Nice guy.
Love his family.
Loves his mom.
Yeah, that's cute.
Okay.
So a lot of people wanted to know how long I was on that bathroom floor with KD4.
How long was that?
Probably like an hour and a half.
From like start to finish, like walking into her room to leaving the room probably an hour and a half.
She was definitely destroyed over it.
I think Katie was really good at being in the moment with each relationship.
Like she was fully in with Greg and she was fully in with Justin and she was fully in with Blake, all very different relationships.
So I think in that moment, even if she might have felt like it was Blake, I think she was devastated.
about how that went down with Greg because she really cared about him.
And she just had Michael A leave.
Andrew did his whole thing of like, I want to be chosen.
And she was like, do you want to come back?
He's like, no.
I think she was like, oh, my gosh, another person just leaving me.
And feeling like she had reassured him the whole show for him to just be like,
oh, is it not me?
If it's not me, I'm out kind of thing.
So, yeah, she was really upset.
We were on the bathroom floor for probably an hour and a half.
And she was really close to leaving.
Yeah. I mean, a couple, you know, a couple things. One, I remember you saying like early on, I thought you said that she was really nervous actually in the beginning. Like she was intimidated a little bit by this process like all these like good looking guys wanting her like just this whole process was a little intimidating to her. So imagine if you the fear of every lead from what I've heard, again, obviously I don't know, is that you're not going to have the, you know, reciprocation of feelings from the men. Yeah. So if that's the biggest fear of every lead from what I've heard, again, I obviously don't know, is that you're, you're not going to have the, you know, you know, reciprocation of feelings from the men. Yeah. So if that's the biggest fear of
every lead that everyone usually says and on top of that you feel a little timinated and now some of
the people that like you are starting to foresee the rest of your life with with four or five people left
are all leaving yeah that's got to be like heart crushing like that's got to absolutely kill
your morale and confidence through the process right i remember her saying at the beginning when she
like really was you know great got the first impression rose and she even said i'm worried he'll he's gonna leave
I'm worried he's going to leave like because he was she would always be like you know he had resting sad face he was always just like he had a hard time with it and she was always worried he was going to leave so that whole buildup being worried about that and then having your fear come true that's literally the worst when your fears are proven like yeah I should have been worried about that because here we are and I think that's why a lot of people put walls up and that's a huge reason why people like don't allow themselves to fully love.
is because their fears get in the way
and when a fear is proven to be true,
you're like, this is exactly why
and you break down.
I got a question for you.
Do you think, okay, so go, like on our season,
when we left, like when I left,
the guys would talk.
And we knew that Garrett and Blake were in the end.
Yeah.
And so we thought for sure, like all of us,
common consensus, Blake is going to win.
For you, now that the season's done,
with like four people left
how would you have stacked ranked
who you thought was going to win
before Michael A
and Greg and all them started leaving
I feel like we're talking about like
a horse race here and not love
I thought that's what always the bachelor is
I always joke around it like people are like
how did you do on the show? I'm like oh you got a bronze medal
just because like it's so weird to say I came in third
like I don't know I know I always say that too
but I know well it was hard because when as soon as Blake
showed up I was like oh it shifted
because I would have said, like, Greg was it from day one.
But when Blake came in, it's so hard because she really cared about Justin, too,
which is so interesting because they really did not show enough of that.
And Justin is so incredible.
And he's such a nice guy.
And he's funny.
And they had a really great relationship.
They really did.
I mean, obviously he wasn't the one.
But I don't know.
I really, it was really obviously back and forth between Blake and Greg.
But I think the more she got to know Blake, I think the more and more she fell in love with him,
where Greg was like more an instantaneous like, whoa, I have these butterflies and it was more
lust where Blake was like a really natural growth of healthy love, if that makes sense.
Okay, okay.
That's fair.
When you knocked on the door, did she think it was like, did she know it was you?
Because I thought you said that there was like confusion when you actually.
I think she thought I was a producer for a little while.
And then I was like, yeah, because did you hear it first?
She was like, I don't want to talk to anybody.
And I was like, do you never talk to me like through the door?
Like, I'm like, don't, don't loop me in with the producers.
I really just want to talk.
And then she did.
But yeah, it was, it was interesting.
And I know there's so many, you know, it's so hard because, like I've said,
on many podcasts and to Katie and to other people that have been on the show.
Like, it's so hard because you close a chapter on the show and you're happily in love.
And then you have to reopen those chapters and dive back into how you felt.
And people obviously are just torn between the Katie and Greg thing.
Where do you stand on what happened?
Like, okay, I know where you stand on how he left.
You didn't agree with that, right?
Yeah, yeah.
No, I think, no, here's what I don't agree with.
I mean, I know he's already come out today and taken from what I saw earlier today this
morning is that he did take some accountability.
But my issue is that there was absolutely no accountability taken from his end.
And I don't care if you're a male or female in these situations, accountability has to be had.
And you, I mean, you point blank asked them.
Like, do you have any regrets?
No, I don't have any regrets.
And so there's the argument saying, like, people are like, well, she wasn't that into him.
And he wasn't receiving enough affirmation.
And, you know, he didn't see his future wife because he wasn't getting the affirmation.
That's just absolutely, it's someone that's been through this.
That's an absolutely ridiculous, ridiculous statement.
You're fighting this whole time.
You take off from life and work.
You don't see your parents.
You don't see your friends, your family, nothing.
And you're all in.
You got the first impression rose.
You're getting affirmation, like Katie said, week to week.
to week. And it's, you're on a dating show with 30 other dudes. It's not, and you know how this stuff
works. Like, not everyone says I love you back immediately. You're getting that affirmation. My issue is that
when you're, when you're not taking accountability for the actuality of what happened, right?
He didn't see, in my opinion, he didn't see his future wife there. Maybe there are red flags.
Maybe it didn't go well at hometowns. Maybe there was something. But I think the whole play of saying you
didn't get affirmation and then putting it on her and then kind of, you know, taking a little
bit of a condescending on the victim approach is just bullshit. I think it's bullshit. I think that
he did it again on AFR. And here's the thing. I'm sure if I met Greg, you know, and hopefully
I'll have the chance to do it. I bet she's a great guy. Just because people have a bad showing or
made a, you know, a bad call. The Bachelorette didn't say the right things. It's not a full
depiction of who they are as humans. But I just didn't. I think he was kind of.
stone cold a little bit with it and I think he should have just said listen like I got some
information I now know what I need to know to know that yes maybe I didn't feel affirmation but here
are some other reasons that I need to send myself home because you do not leave unless you know for
sure that's not your person unless there's I said this unless there's like an extenuating family
circumstance right not everybody can be adjacent tardic and think so level-headedly
what do you mean you're so level-headed you're like
You're on this show, but you're, you are a very logical thinker where I think.
Yeah, but, but you had three months to think about it.
Also, I.
And then you go live and then you say that you didn't, I mean regrets.
Yeah.
And I also think Greg has a lot of emotions to work through since his father passing because
I think he's looking for something to fill his heart.
I think he's looking like I think he was putting that on Katie.
like she's going to make me happy this is you know like this right now is making me happy so this is
what's going to do it for me like i think he has a lot of soul searching to do and i can't even
imagine being in that position because i just like i could cry thinking about it that must be
the hardest thing the world to go through and i think it was the first time that he was like
like he said it filled a hole in his heart that was something else to process for him but
you know with a lot of people are saying with katie being happily engaged
why was she attacking Greg so much?
What are your thoughts on that?
Because I obviously have thoughts, which I will share.
And real quick, I think you brought up some good points, right?
But I think, especially when you're on a stage like this,
like whatever it might be that could have created your reaction in life or on this show,
I think taking some time to think about being able to speak through that,
male or female, is just so important.
And so had that been the conversation,
after the final rose, had there been the slightest bit of not just finger pointing and
kind of like the old thumb pointing, I would have been like, absolutely, well said.
Because there's no, there's nothing wrong with not being into someone or not wanting to
propose. It's fucking normal. I just think consistently in any human that you're surrounding yourself
with I think in general, that's never willing to say, you know what, there I was wrong, but here's where
I think I was like, never wanted to take any bit of ownership. That's a huge.
huge red flag. But again, I got to meet the guy. I'm sure he's a great guy. A lot of people on
the show, like, this is a big indicator. I want to put this out there for any of the big fans of
The Bachelor. A huge indicator, I think, of what a person is like is what the people on the show
that just went three months with him are saying about him. And all the guys are saying great
things about him. Yeah. So that is something that you might not know that you got to keep in
mind. And to your question, oh, what did I think about her being emotional? So she, I'll say
this. She went in hard. I mean, she went in hard, right? But I think there's a couple people that are saying,
like, she's not over Greg. I personally think that's a ridiculous statement. And here's why.
You're put on a national stage in front of five million people to discuss your thoughts on specifically
what happened. This wasn't Katie going live on her Instagram or, you know, having an interview
with Blake with Michael Strayhan and going off. This is a platform that was,
built for you to tell your opinion with both of you two in this situation so that you can give
the audience what they should know about your feelings. And why would she not tell him what she
felt? It was fair. And I think honestly, it was constructive for probably both of them.
Katie could probably go back and be like, you know, maybe she has some takeaways.
I shouldn't have gone in that or whatever. Maybe he has some takeaways like, you know,
what? If she didn't come at me the way she did, if she didn't bring some of those things up,
I wouldn't have the ability to reprocess it and then work on myself to become a better human.
So I just think it's a ridiculous.
And emotions, it's not like emotions get erased.
She could still be deeply, deeply, deeply in love with Blake and get ready for them to get married.
But you could still have like, you know, I've been, like, I've been cheated on before.
I love you more than anything in the world.
I can't wait to marry you and have a family.
But still, of course, you're like, yeah, that person, right?
Like, that's a normal thing.
Doesn't mean you're not over it.
Right.
Right?
That's exactly.
how I feel. I think, like I said, Katie was very in the moment with each person in each
relationship and two feelings can exist. She can be heated with Greg and still be madly in love
with Blake. And it's like everyone is saying, well, if you're still in love with Blake and
it's like poor Blake and he was the default. Like, no, she was madly in love with Blake. And she
had a really rocky ending with Greg that the whole audience needed.
that closure and needed to know how she felt. And she had not spoken to him since that day.
She had a lot of built up feelings that she needed to get off her chest and talk through. And
it literally doesn't mean, like even if people think she was mean to Greg, she was hurt by him.
She was hurting and she was mad and she was allowed to express that. And then she's also allowed to
move on and be extremely madly in love with Blake and happy. That's allowed. Exactly. And I think
like that chapter has happened.
She said her peace.
She felt a certain way and she communicated it.
Chapter closed.
Like she said,
good luck.
I hope you find happiness.
Now move forward with Blake and you don't have to let that bleed into your relationship
with Blake, right?
Those are two separate things.
And I don't buy the people that are saying she's clearly not over it.
Like she's expressing her emotion.
What's wrong?
I don't think there's any issue with that.
Definitely over it.
I think she just was like.
Tickets clear.
She's over it.
Yeah.
Yeah, she's allowed to be angry.
That's allowed.
I just, yeah, people are.
And I also think, like, it's a fair, like, if you're watching anything, that's right, whatever.
If you're not a fan of Katie, that's fine.
But I also think, like, at least take opinions that make and express things that make
logical sense, even if you don't like someone, you can still have an opinion that is
maybe supporting something they're saying.
Yeah.
Right?
And I feel like so many people just are like, well, I don't like her.
So it's this and the other thing.
I don't know.
It's interesting.
It's fascinating because this has like been a very polarizing season unlike, like, unlike any.
Yeah.
People are really aggressively.
It's turned into like team Greg or team Katie.
And it's like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's sad because I mean, here we are talking about it, the whole, you know, but that's, it was such a big part of the finale.
But it's like, I hope, I hope Katie and Blake are just, I told her.
I was like, stay the heck.
off the internet and enjoy this high time with Blake you guys finally get to be in public be in love
be happy where your engagement ring like it's your time to be in love and like this is such a cool
moment for you guys do not let the internet bring you down right now totally don't let the internet
bring it down enjoy it and I hope they find a way to get like closer because I actually do agree
with that point aunt made like how is this going to like you how do you make this work you know what i mean
like you got to got to get to the same city and you got to you got to prioritize one another because
to be that far apart it's challenging yeah that's tough especially different countries you're
you're away for two two months it's brutal it's literally different countries and i don't think
can can Canadians even like cross the border right now if you live in canada i'm not entirely
sure on the rules. I know the U.S. or I think so, yeah. I think they can come in with the right
documentation that I think citizens of the United States can now, or maybe it's the 21st of August,
we can go into Canada. Did you know, or did you notice that in their fantasy suite that
there's a bottle of syrup and it was half gone in the morning? Wait, what? There was a bottle of syrup
and it was half gone in the morning. I happen to know everything there is to know about maple syrup.
I love maple syrup. I love maple syrup on pancakes. I have.
love it on pizza. I'd like to take maple syrup and put a little bit in my hair when I've had a rough
week. What do you think holds it up, slick? Are you going to have, are you, are you have
Katie and Blake coming on? Uh-huh. You're going to have to ask them about that. I'm going to. I wonder
if anyone else has. What do you think they did with that? I kind of know. Wait, you asked?
No, I feel like she told me at one point like that there was syrup involved. I could be making that up.
So what was involved? Let's hear it. No, I just, there's like, I'm going to have to ask them because
I mean, there's questions.
I just don't understand syrup being used in the bedroom.
That seems disgusting to me.
Yeah, I mean, I could imagine what it might have been used for.
Yeah, but what, Lou?
Like, that's disgusting.
That would be so sticky.
You'd get like a urinary tract infection.
It's not sexy.
UTIs aren't sexy.
Yeah, it's true.
That's true.
Anyways, their proposal.
Syrup, wow.
I know.
Blake's proposal was so sweet.
What did you think of the whole?
proposal riding into the sunset
my windmill arm going nuts
I was so excited for them
the whole time I watched
it was like full transparency
the whole time I watched this show
I'm like I love Blake because he's goofy
he's like smooth but not smooth
he's like kind of like clumsiest ship
but then also like super athletic
he just seems like such a real human
except that I was like
wait is he an actor just my skeptical brain
knowing he's not an actor when he proposed
and he did that pause to
mess with her.
Yeah.
Like, so it wasn't a mess with her, but it was like, he was like keeping her on edge and all the
listening and we're like, we're watching.
Oh, but God.
I was like, that was so perfectly done that that pause was unbelievable.
That was literally a professional pause.
Yeah.
He did really well.
Incredible.
But it was, it was beautiful.
I got to, I got to say this because I said it on my Instagram.
I said it on the TikTok thing.
And that was one of the bachelor nations weird, right?
We already know it.
We're already talking about me watching my.
ex on paradise. I've talked to you about your multiple exes. You've watched
grown in relationships from the show one on one with your ex from three months ago
to pick out a ring from her for your now fiancee, who's the bachelorette to the previous
bachelor's. That's next level weird shit right there. And maybe that's why he was like
rattled. He's like, I'll be back. I got to think through this. Like what? Well, because he was
on Tasha season that they had a heartbreaking good.
by. Now Tasha's helping him pick out a ring.
He, like, went far in Tasha's season, who was the last Bachelorette. Now he's picking out
a ring for the new Bachelorette, who we all adore. We like. But like, what a, I mean,
there's some weird shit in this world. That might take the cake that she's wearing the ring
that he picked from Tasia. Yeah, I feel like it wasn't weird between the two of them, but it was
weird for everybody else. No, no, no, no. I think that's so well said. It wasn't weird for Blake.
It's probably not weird for Katie. It's certainly not weird for Tate. It's certainly not weird for
She's so happy. I mean, everything.
But when you're watching and you put it on paper, you're like, oh, shit.
Yeah, absolutely. Well, I'm just so happy for them.
And, you know, like to watch her go through all these challenging times and deal with everything for her to finally be out there with Blake happily engaged, I'm just so thrilled for them.
And it was, it was really cool to be a part of that, you know, like that was obviously our first time doing that.
And it was really cool to be a part of it.
And I don't know, looking back, I'm like, holy shit.
That, you know, that was a really cool opportunity to be a mentor and to be there for them in that way while also somewhat hosting, like, but being able to be ourselves.
It was really fun.
Yeah.
And I think you and Tasia should be so proud of yourselves and the work you guys did.
That's not an easy role to step into, especially given everything and all the moving parts.
you know there's a lot of fans of what the show looked like before and change is not an easy thing
and so to be part of that change do your best of ignoring all that noise and continuing to just be
yourself is awesome i've said it on many podcasts i think the coolest thing about watching you host
gaitland is that there is this standardized perception that american viewers or Canadian viewers
have is what a host should be how they should dress how they should change their
tone, welcome. And I love that I'm watching this and it's just you. And as per usual, I think you're
redefining the standard for things. And you did a great job. Tasha did a great job. And you guys should
both be really proud of yourself. Yeah. Thank you for saying that. That's very sweet. And I do. I feel
very proud because I think I, like you said, like I just always want to be able to be myself. And it's
cool to be able to do that in this position. 100%. And real quick, when we went to
Buffalo. I feel like if I go on a podcast and don't say the word Buffalo, who would I be?
We get it. You're from Buffalo. I know. But when we went to Buffalo, you and I were actually going to go out to Niagara Falls, if you remember that since 2019. I was going to take because you had never been. And Niagara Falls is like 30 minutes out. Blake is right from outside Niagara Falls. We'll do a double date and we'll make it happen. Absolutely. Two Canadians and two Americans crossing the borders.
I love it.
I feel like you never have a confession for me, but do you this time?
Oh, you guys didn't prepare me for that.
Oh, you know you're coming on my podcast.
I didn't even know that you still do that, honestly.
I haven't been on a podcast in months.
Okay, fine.
Let's play Would You Rather?
Okay.
Oh, I thought you were going to get nervous because I haven't thrown you for a loop yet, this podcast.
Well, you just exposed all the wedding texts.
that hadn't called me a groomzilla
out of the Westfield.
But I thought it was sweet.
I love that you did that.
Anyways, would you rather
ask for my hand in marriage from Aunt Lindsay
or do a mo-w-w-month-off
Wacking-off challenge?
I would rather do a mo-wow
because there's nothing you can say to Aunt Lindsay
that would go well.
Okay, wow, okay.
Would you rather room with Luke P
or room with Carl?
Wow, that's a great question.
I'd rather room with Luke P.
Because I feel like at the minimum here,
get me jacked. He's like a huge trainer.
Plus, I feel like his energy,
just because he's like all, like, he's got a lot of,
like, he's got a lot of thoughts that man, I feel like.
So does Carl.
I would just pick his brain. No, I feel like Carl's is a talker.
Just like talking. Yeah, he's a talker.
You know, when you're talking to someone, he's talking circles,
and nothing has come out. He's a rambler. He's a rambler.
Like, yeah, you know, I'd be born with, Luke P, I'd have a field banks.
I would just ask him a trillion questions.
And I'm sure his perspective would, like, intrigued this shit out of me like, what?
Okay.
Would you rather wax Blake's back or have brunch with Juan Pablo?
I'd rather wax Blake's back.
That would be a blast.
In fact, I would love to do that.
That guy's a beauty.
I want to hang out with Blake.
He is.
He's awesome.
Would you rather have to listen to Thomas talk or have to listen to Carl talk?
Wow, that's a tough one.
Can you throw someone else in there?
No.
I have to listen to one of those two talk.
I'm going, Carl.
Yeah, I think Carl's so entertaining.
Like, when he talks, I'm just like, what are you even talking about?
It's so funny.
Definitely, definitely, Carl.
Okay.
Okay, well, that's it.
That's my podcast with you.
Did you have a good time?
I had a great time.
Thank you so much for having me.
We can't like to have you back.
Okay.
The boys are here.
They're laying down.
Can I see them?
Oh, my babies.
Oh, my beautiful Beanie's, I'm going to cry.
Hi, Beanie.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't handle it.
I can't handle it.
I'm going to cry.
Well, you'll see them in less than a week.
Oh, I love.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't.
Hey, don't ever leave me, okay?
Because I'll find you.
What do you?
Sometimes you say things I don't even understand them.
Like, what do you mean?
It's a fucking movie quote.
God damn it.
Every time you say something I don't understand, just okay.
Movie quote.
What movie quotes are for?
Oh, that was perfect.
Is that a wedding crashers?
Yes.
There you go.
Wow!
There you go.
And he totally redeems himself.
What's that from?
Lyer, liar.
No.
Jim Carrey.
It is Jim Carrey.
Dumb and dumber.
Yeah.
Dumb and dumber.
I knew that.
I knew that.
I knew that.
I knew that.
You did.
You got it.
Oh, my God. Okay, what are you doing for the rest of your day?
I have a very, very busy day. But the exciting thing is that for the big one of everything is I have a podcast with Gary V at 4 o'clock, I've always looked up to him.
So to actually get to interview him will be really fun.
Okay, well, thank you. I love you.
Love you too, honey. Thanks for having me.
All right, Vitos. And my first time as a host of The Bachelorette would not be complete without bloopers.
Yep, you heard it right.
my very own podcast
Blubert Reel for you.
Let's just say thank God my toots are silent.
Otherwise my producer probably would have added that in too.
And I thought it would be fun to share a little bit more
behind the scenes of our hashtag.
Hashtag, that's what I meant.
Quote, unquote.
A mentor and being part of the season, but like we don't need to be like tinkling our glass.
Tinkly.
Tinking our glass like Chris Harrison.
Wow, I feel like,
like this, sorry, okay, felt like this day would never come, but here we are. I hope that we
have a lot, we have a lot of fun together. God, Caitlin! I'm gonna punch myself in the face.
Okay, anyways, I hope that we have had, I'm gonna punch myself. I hope that we have a lot of fun
together over the coming weeks of Bachelorette Recaps, so enjoy. Oh, my God, I'm gonna
freaking hurt myself. But seriously, sipping on some spade and sparrows really does make my viewing
experience that much more enjoyable. However, I know some people, Caitlin, just...
Holy crap, I'm stuffy.
If I'm being honest. I do that every time I say that. I can be a bit of a mess. I mean, I do my best, but it...
Ah, I'm burp.
Am I?
Yeah. Okay.
Look for it on.
Lick...
I love me some cocoa nut.
Oh, coconut.
crap, I'm really struggling with these ads.
I need more coffee.
Today I got to chat with Lauren,
aka Lo Bosworth, from Laguna Beach and the Hills.
She's actually a batch fan,
so we create a thing with all.
Because it's really,
uh,
because it's,
you know,
my name.
Thanks for listening to Off the Vine,
grape therapy.
