Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Grape Therapy: Bachelorette Recap (and almost paradise) with Wells Adams
Episode Date: August 4, 2021Dare we say this may have been the most dramatic Hometowns episode ever!? Wells joins KB to break down Katie’s visits all around the continent to these men’s hometowns… but really just ...around a resort in New Mexico, no matter how much that mechanical moose may have fooled you. Wells teases what we can expect this summer on the beautiful beaches of Paradise, what he would do on an America-themed date for a Canadian Bachelorette, and asks a very important question about this week’s episode: has Greg ever seen this show before? Kaitlyn reveals that the blue cheese or ranch convo between Katie and Justin was actually a very serious convo early in her own relationship and shares some behind the scenes of this very divisive episode. We also find out that Greg might actually be a character from Boy Meets World instead of a Jersey boy, and that Wells blames sweet ole Ben Higgins for this week’s drama. At the end of the day, please remember to “be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a hard battle.” We could all use a reminder of that quote from Wells’ shirt. we're done with ocvb podcast one presents off the vine grape therapy kately bristow's going to
answer your questions drink to your concessions and hear what you have to say about anything
bachelor let's shake it up some more here's katelyn welcome to grape therapy i'm your host
Lombristo, your session is now starting. I think that I truly deserve to say this line.
That was probably the most dramatic hometown episode of The Bachelorette. I cannot believe the
week has finally come that you all got to see what happened and that I finally got to see it
actually play out on screen because like I said to Katie, I didn't even know what had like happened
and to hear it from her. Like I just got to be there for her on the bathroom floor. So there's just
so much to get into. I'm at a loss for words, so I brought in Wells, who is truly never
of a loss for words. We get into it, Blake's hometown, the entire country of Canada, followed
by Justin's hometown, the city of Baltimore, followed by Greg's hometown, the state of
New Jersey, and the conversation between Katie and Greg that changed it all. So many thoughts,
so many feelings. Let's get into it.
Hi, how are you?
I'm good. How are you?
I am. Well, let's start it off of the bang here. I'm terrible because I just spilled tea tree oil all over myself, which have you ever smelled tea tree oil?
No, I'm not in the movie Avatar. I don't even know what tea tree oil does for you.
Well, apparently it's good for your cuticles and I spilled it and it's like the most strong f***ing scent I've ever smelled. It smells like a pine tree, like, but like stronger. And now I just reek of it.
Yeah, so that's how I'm doing right now.
And my shirt says hot mess, so it kind of makes sense.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What does your shirt say?
Mine says, be kind for everyone you know is fighting a hard battle, which is...
Oh, that's much deeper than my shirt.
I know.
I totally went up to you a shirt.
I didn't know we were doing a shirt thing.
Yeah.
I would have come in with, like, my true crime wine in bed by nine shirt, but I didn't know, so I'm sorry.
Yeah.
I didn't know to wear my self-help and mental health matter shirt because I do have one of those.
So I should have been more on my game there.
But here we are.
Yeah.
Listen, I just.
This is very own brand for us.
No, it's not.
I've never, I've never like serious.
It was all right for me.
Yeah.
For you especially, I need to have like some sort of like wacky hipster shirt, you know.
And a beanie.
And a beanie.
And a beanie.
Yeah, my pixie shirt or something.
But.
But you know.
what we're all just doing our best over here and the times we're in okay hey i'm proud of you kid
all right you know guess what my microphone is literally look at it's just shoved into the couch cushion
oh nice and you're resting up against a chair on the edge of the couch because this is really
the only place i get good Wi-Fi so we're just rolling with it oh wow and i mean obviously
we're going to do a bachelor at recap and i feel like all there's to talk about is Greg but first of all i
I wanted to ask you how Paradise was.
It was great.
It was fun.
It was dramatic.
It was funny.
It was hot.
There was a lot of drama.
There was a lot of laughs.
There's a lot of love.
There's a lot of romance.
There's some,
hopefully some Neil Lane rings floating around and, you know?
Oh, exciting.
Oh, my gosh.
It's so,
Paradise is so exciting to watch now because obviously it's everyone's
favorite and it's been gone for like was it two summers or just one one summer but it's been
two years since the show okay yeah been two years but it feels like it's been forever and i've heard
through like very knowing people that it gets crazy down there on that beach this summer yeah i mean
it gets crazy uh like every summer but this one especially because yeah like everyone was
stuck at home for a year and like not able to like swipe right
write on Tinder and go make like bad life decisions with people and so there's saving it all for
the beach yes i feel like there was like a lot of sexual attention built up which is uh just
beautiful for for that show you know and they're also like it was crazy because we i think we broke
the record for the most people like on the show day one oh really yeah just because if you think
about it there was just so many seasons of people you know you know there was two bachelorette
and one Bachelor season of people to choose from.
And then, of course, you have your OGs who, you know,
people love and hope to see down there.
And so it was just a lot and it was just a lot of people and a lot of like commotion
on the beach just because obviously there's like, you know,
it's one thing doing, do an ad or Bachelor.
We're like, it's kind of one storyline.
You're kind of just following that, you know?
Yes, there is like fragmented storylines when you're like in the mansion or whatever
group dates.
But for the most part, it's kind of like one drive.
storyline, whereas this, there's like six or seven happening at the same time.
That's a lot.
And everyone's talking about everyone else and it gets messy.
It's like beautiful.
It's like a beautiful mess.
And the bartender becomes the therapist and that's where the alcohol is.
Was David, okay, David Spade, obviously so funny.
Was he as funny in real life as he is, as we want him to be?
Yes.
I mean, he is very funny.
And like, I got to spend time with him kind of like off sets, if you, if you will.
And so it was just me.
I just quoted his movies back to him.
That's what I would do.
Yeah.
And he was like, I think you're the only one old enough to like know any of these.
You know, like.
That's totally what I would do.
Like no one remembers like black sheep.
Like no one was alive when black sheep came out, you know.
But I was just like, so he would like regale me with stories of like him and Farley.
And I was just like tell me all the stories.
He was great.
I will say this like, you know,
David Stick, as it pertains to the Bachelor and the Bachelorette, is kind of, you know, taking the piss
out of it.
Right.
Which I think we all do, and we've all probably made more money than we deserve by doing
that thing.
But the one thing that, like, I kind of like mentioned to him before we started, which
it's something that, like, I've had to deal with, is it's really hard to do that thing
when everyone's in front of you.
Because at the end of the day, they're totally normal.
idiots you know like yeah and so you like it's it's fun to make fun of it at the tv but like when
they're right in front of you like it's much harder to do and i think that he struggled that
with that as much as anyone else would and he also like kind of grew like that made bonds with people
that i think that was something that he probably wasn't like expecting to do yeah i mean who knows
that will play or not but yeah the truth of the matter is if you're stuck on a beach with a bunch
of people and you're hanging out you're gonna become friendly with some people and
You know, that's just how it goes.
Yeah, so true.
That's, that reminds me when I, like, met Chris Catan.
All I could do was quote SNL and, like, Will Farrell things.
And he was like, I get it.
Like, I was like, can we sit down and sing, like, the whole, the whole song that you and Will did together?
And he was like, sure.
And I did.
Yeah.
It was very fun, but I think he hated me.
Yeah.
Just doing like, what is love?
Maybe don't hurt me.
Well, so he went to a bar.
I took, okay, I had a boy.
friend and I told him I was going to like hook him up with one of my girlfriends from this
restaurant and so we went to this bar and the bar played that song and he did that and I was like
yes it was so cool yeah okay what did you think of this episode because first of all I I know when
like I podcast with you I want to just talk about so many other things and I get off track
but not this time I'm going to be professional and talk about Blake's hometown
Canada because every
time they do something Canadian, I'm like
oh, here we go with
the Canada. There's going to be a moose joke.
They're going to like do something with
syrup. It's going to be a whole thing.
And then I was like, I'm going to ask Wells, if you
were on The Bachelorette and she was Canadian
and you were in Canada, what
would represent America like
we do in Canada?
Yeah, be like, let's get diabetes
and
let's hope we don't get
hurt. So we have to use our
in medical insurance
Let's go to Walmart
and
No, I don't
Yeah, I don't
I don't know
That was pretty good though
But that's what I'm saying
Like you think of the most
Like how you would stereotype
America as a Canadian
And then that's what they do
Every time for these Canadians
Like I'm like
Are we really doing the moose thing
And the plaid and the Canadian flags everywhere
And like I don't know
It's just it's the syrup thing
I'm like come on
It's not real.
Yeah, free basing syrup.
Yeah.
It sounded, yeah, it's pretty great.
My only thing about the day was when Blake was like, yeah, we have to ride mechanical
mooses because we don't have horses.
And I'm sitting there being like, don't you have Canadian Mounties that like have to ride horses?
Like, there are horses up there.
There's a lot of horses up there.
I'm not sure what he was talking about.
And nobody rides moose anyways.
And I don't even know how to say the plural of moose.
Is it because I'm, and I'm Canadian, and I don't know how to say it.
I think it's just moose.
Yeah, moose.
Yeah.
Mises.
I don't think it's Mises.
And that might be.
I'm not sure.
And I don't, I actually think it's the plural of moose is moose.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Yeah.
I think you're right.
But yeah, I was like, just so typical and hilarious.
But they talked about Katie moving to Canada and she said she would be open to it.
Yeah, but it seems like it was like, ah!
How could you not want to move to Canada?
Well, I don't know where he's from.
Is he from like Vancouver?
Because if he's from there, then like, hell yeah, I want to go there.
No, he's from Ontario, which is very underrated.
And it's beautiful there.
And there's lots of lakes and syrup and it's great.
And moose, of course.
I've never even seen a moose in my life and I'm Canadian.
Yeah, I haven't either.
I mean, aside from like Rocky and Bullwinkle, I don't know.
But yeah, when she said it, I was like, okay.
Or in your mind, are you like, we're going to.
going to be bi-coastal, where we're in Seattle, you know, during the not-rainy times and then
we'll- Never.
Yes, exactly, exactly.
It's always raining.
That was like, I mean, even just living in Vancouver, it was raining every day because
we're right next to Seattle and it's only, it's, it's incredible for like two months
of the year and I love Vancouver, but it does rain a lot.
It's annoying.
And Greg saw them making out.
Do you think he was actually, no, I know for a fact he saw them making out.
I was like, do you really think that he saw them?
Yeah, you did.
I know that.
Yeah.
But also, like, how did that come to be?
You're there with production.
Were they like, hey, Greg, go and go out of that balcony right there and see what you see?
I think he saw them before he hit that balcony.
I think he was on his way back from somewhere and saw it and then pondered on the balcony about seeing it.
Yeah.
That's what I think happened.
But Greg, he was back to his little resting sad face, that whole, like, every time he does the, like,
of him pondering and thinking he does his resting sad face and it's i he just has sad eyes to
me yeah he's like a basset hound you know you're just like no the dog's not sad it's his face
he'll be fine i think he is sad i i do too i we're i'm gonna say this one thing probably
seven million times during this podcast okay has this motherfucker never seen
the show. I just want to know, like, has he ever seen The Bachelor of the Bachelorette? Or, and if not,
did he not think that maybe it would be a good idea to watch what the hell you're getting yourself
into just in case you go on the show? I was thinking the same thing because, I mean, I went into,
I always put myself in these people's shoes and I'm like, I never thought I'd fall in love with
Chris Souls. I was like, I'm into farmers. Like, he's cute. I'll probably have a crush on
him and then it gets real for you but still the whole time i was telling myself like well he has
to do this with other girls and he's doing that like he gregg really believed he was the only one
the whole time yes and that's i think it's very evident with like how he kind of reacts at the end
um of the whole situation no we're saving it we're going yeah yeah we'll get we'll get there
but but my my running theme is to be like did no one or at least like no one tell you that like
There are, like, a couple of, like, rules of the show that, like, are just going to happen.
So just, like, buckle in, Bucco and, like, get ready.
Exactly.
Yeah, I agree.
I think that way about a lot of guys that come on the show.
I'm like, have you ever watched this before?
Or do you know the concept?
Because there are a lot of you.
But I loved Blake's sister because she just called him out so hard.
And I was like, thank you for saying what we were all thinking.
I sent it to Katie, too, at the beginning.
Like, dude, he fell in love with Claire, patient.
and now you and like I do I do believe he was genuinely there for her I'm not saying he wasn't but it's kind it was kind of a trend and the fact that his sister called him out was kind of funny yeah her exact quote was so this is the one now and it was like get her what's his what was her name Jamie or I don't know her name I don't remember Taylor I don't know anyways uh when she said that it was that it was something like that I was just like oh well I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm glad I'm
I'm glad you said it, because we're all thinking it over here.
It's better if it comes from a family member because those are the only people who can really fire those kinds of shots without him hating you.
Yeah, very true.
Now back to Off the Vine Grape Therapy.
But yeah, I was just like, oh my gosh, because he still isn't at this point not telling Katie he loves her yet.
And I'm like, he, what, you were in love with Claire after.
like an hour and you're not in love with Katie yet? Yeah, I'm sure he's just got PTSD from like what
he did in the last couple go around. So he's trying to do things different. Here's my question to
you as a Canadian. Are you like totally team Blake because like that's what Canadians do.
You like stick together through thick and thin. Yeah, like when when there's only a certain
amount of teams left in the playoffs, I'll always make sure I root for the Canadian team that's in there
because I'm like, that's my country. So yeah, I'm kind of team Blake because of being Canadian. But
I also really like him.
Okay.
Well, that's good.
Have you met him?
Yeah, I met him.
Yeah, the day that-
You came in for the season.
We did a bit together that they didn't show.
Yeah, which I, by the way, when we were, like,
I remember right before we went and did,
we did a bit where I bartended for all the guys and, like,
Caitlin brings me in and, but, like, was like,
another guy's coming in.
So everyone got pissed off just right after Blake.
They were so mad.
They were so mad.
And, uh, and I remember you were like,
they had given you kind of like a bunch of,
lines to say and you were like frazzled about like having to memorize them and I was I remember being
like Caitlin they're going to cut this entire fucking thing you don't I don't know what you're like
stressed out about like this is never going to make air trust me I know right I they bring me in
every goddamn season and they cut me completely out so you can say what you want all right you're
right I did I was so nervous and I was like I got to make sure I hit these points because I
really want to scare these guys and have them think that another
guys coming in because this will for sure air and you're like no no been here done this and they're
not going to i'm just here to drink yeah exactly and what was funny about that was that we set the bar up
and like all the guys were coming to me for advice and everything and then you're like but i want to
stay and drink and they're like no that's not this isn't the point and i wanted to be like she can stay
we're going to cut this whole thing anyways it doesn't matter i did i wanted to stay i was like wait
i don't know like have margaritas and like hang with the boys i always like
to think I'm one of the guys.
And I was like, I want to hang and play games.
Did you guys have fun doing that?
Or did you actually get to hang out and, like, be there for a while?
Yeah, it was fun.
I think it was good.
I think it was good for the guys, too, because, you know, I think I said this on Tasha's
podcast.
Like, I think it's great that you and Tasia are there for Katie.
But I do feel bad for, like, the guys because I think, one, it's probably, you're
probably not as available to them as you are for Katie.
and two, like, it's probably hard to emote yourself to someone that you know is definitely like an advisor to the lead, you know?
So, like, you don't want to like kind of like spill your guts too much.
And thirdly, like you guys are, all three of you guys are like drop dead gorgeous, but like I'm sure like when you and Tasha walk in the room, I'm sure they're all like, oh, God, you know, like nervous and like, oh, blah.
So I think it was nice for them that, because I was like, guys, this is never going to make air.
Say what the fuck you want.
I'm not going to judge you.
And so then it was just a lot of them talking about like, so like, what was your experience like?
And so I was like, yeah, so I went home on a one-on-one and they're like, that can happen.
I remember someone being like, you can get sit at home on a 101.
And I was like, you guys haven't seen the show, have you?
Like, I was like, so no one's been set home on a one-on-one.
and they're like, they're like, no.
And I was like, well, they're about to be.
So buckle in.
Yeah, it's about that time.
Oh, my gosh, that's funny.
Yeah, that's, they're probably just so paranoid, though, that stuff would.
They think everything's going to air.
I feel like those guys.
They think every second of what they do is going to air.
So they're like, I truly don't think there was one time Tasia and I walked in and they
were like checking us out.
Like, they were truly eyes on the prize of Katie at all times, even if that was because
they were like scared because they're like the cameras on us yeah of course i was like oh have i lost
it well i'm sure they were like eyes up boys we don't want to get you know we don't want to
get in trouble here uh there was there was one guy um Courtney with a cue he like was so good at
avoiding or not avoiding ignoring the fact that the cameras were there that he'd have like
full blown conversations with himself between him and katie but he would like be acting like
she was there and he would like get in the zone and really like have conversations with her to play
it out before he saw her it was really cute yeah i remember because on my date we there was like this
whole wrinkle of trash talking if there was a foul during the game then you got to like trash talk
a la basketball um and so like i was having to like show them how to trash talk and so i used
Courtney and i was like you spell your name with the cue what what you know like what do you
what who the fuck spells Courtney with that key?
you know and like making fun of them that way and then i was like can't wait to see you in paradise
like you're not making a past you know this day right uh but they cut it didn't start crying no
but they cut all they were they cut that entire thing from the episode because they were so bad
they were all so nice and sweet isn't that funny they were so bad at trash talking like it was
they should have shown where the bar was set from you because the bar was on the ground at the
end of that for how how trash talking should go yeah and it was i think they showed it like
in the mental all, like, you know, in a real.
So I was like, all at least people got to see that there was like this other wrinkle in it.
But I remember getting mad at them, not really mad at them, but I was like frustrated for the show because I think that was a funny wrinkle to throw in the date.
And I remember like blowing my whistle and I was like, everyone get around here.
I was like, I know that you think you're the star of this show.
And let me tell you something.
You're not.
I promise you.
Yes, there are cameras filming everything you do.
But you, the one thing you are going to take away from this when you watch it back is.
is that I am being cut out of this show.
And I was like, take it from someone who gets cut out of every show.
You're not the star.
So say funny shit.
Like be funny.
Be a motive.
Like, like, you know, be weird.
Like, that's the stuff that you're going to, you're going to look back and be like,
man, I wish I had been funnier or weird or, you know, more unique because you're going to hate yourself for it, you know?
I agree.
I was the same way as you where I truly was like, I'm going to be as weird as fucking possible.
and, like, say the funniest shit
because I never know what's going to air and what's not.
So I was, like, like, I was, like,
throwing out one-liners at all times,
like, p, p, p, p, p, p, p, p, p, p, p, p,
just, like, trying to say all of my material,
just so that's something funny with air.
I was like, what else could I say?
What else could I?
Like, I was, like, brewing up jokes in my journal
after my dates.
I wasn't writing about my feelings.
Yeah.
It's trying to be funny.
Yeah, well, and that's kind of what's nice about paradise
is because, except for the people
that have just been on this show,
so they don't get to watch and like experience that they've been like chopped out of the show
completely they usually come and they're like guns ablaze and being like all right we're going
to make some television we're going to have some fun they do that at men tell all too they're
like here's my TV time I'm going to say the craziest shit ever like this is the Canadian guy
Brendan he just I was starting to tally the amount of times he said that's fake news bro
yeah I was like oh my god say it one more time and then he would like he just said it so
many times. It was like, stop. What did you think about Justin? Because I feel like this is the first
episode we saw Justin. And I was like, oh shit, they do have something. Yeah, I was making the joke
like on my podcast. Like, I wonder if Justin's like, does anyone know I'm still here? Like,
have they've just like forgotten about me? And like, I wonder if like people are walking by and like
people just think that like Justin works at this hotel and he's supposed to be there. Like when
his parents were like you don't even know or he it felt like on his face he was like shit you're
right like he was like kind of like you're right i'm how am i still here yeah like they've been
watching it in real time and they're like no one even knows that you're still on this show we're not
coming out there which is too bad because he's actually really funny like if i felt like wow
why have we not seen any of this before they're really cute together yeah he's just like
expressions guy he's just always like that's what he is he's he's the
the meme making king he just all of his facial expressions make the perfect memes and like
they they were bonding over if you dip your wings in ranch or blue cheese which i get it that was
like jason's first question to me now looking back it was a really important thing for him and i said
ranch well it's okay you know is it it wasn't in the moment but buffalo people are very proud of
their wings yeah i get that but like also not everyone's from buffalo jason like it's okay to
to have. I don't think he knows that. Yeah, I know. I think he thinks in his, in his mind, everyone is from Buffalo and everyone likes blue cheese on their wings. But anyways, yeah, Justin's cute. And I really liked their date. I was like, wow, I wish we saw more of that. I know. I felt, I really did feel bad for him that like his parents didn't come. And I wonder. Same. You know, I, I, there's obviously like so much more to that story that bums me out for him. But then also bums me out as a viewer because.
whatever their reasons for not coming are,
I would like to have seen that on television
because that meant like the mom would have been like,
this ain't real, this is all a sham,
you know, like done some weird shit on TV
that I've been like, man, I'm full team Justin now.
I know, but wait till you see Aunt Lindsay,
Katie's Aunt Lindsay in the next episode.
Oh, she's my favorite person to ever come on the show ever.
She is cutthroat.
like cut throat to the max.
Yeah. It's pretty funny.
But yeah, I felt bad for Justin, too, because I think in order, I think family was really
important to Katie.
I think it is in every hometown and like relationship if you're going to marry the person
to meet their family and the fact that his parents didn't come.
Like, I hope there was a good reason because that made me really sad for him.
Yeah, that's a bummer.
And also like KOD, like kiss a death.
Like, if you don't meet the parents, then it's...
Yeah, yeah.
His friends are cool, though.
Herb.
Totally.
I remember, I remember when they asked me about, like, who should be coming to, like,
my hometown.
And I remember telling the producer Louie, I was like, you and I both know this same
going that far, buddy.
Like, you don't, we can go through the motions of it all.
So, like, I feel included, but, like, it doesn't matter.
And he's like, no, you know, you know, you could be, who knows?
And I'm like, no, we know that I'm out of here, like, next international airport
stop we get and uh and so i was right about that that's so funny because louis was who i talked to
you when i first went on the show and i remember not getting like an opening package and i was
like i'm not even making it past the first night i didn't get an opening package and he was like
you're psycho perfect but like that that's not what that means i was like overthinking everything
where i've like watched the show unlike all these other guys coming in
Anyways, let's move on to Greg's hometown, New Jersey.
He doesn't seem like a Jersey guy to me.
Does he seem like that to you?
No, he seems like a kid that lives in like rural America.
Like, you know, like a suburban of like Cleveland.
That's, I don't know why.
But it's like wherever they make like 90s Disney movies, that's where I think Greg's from.
I feel like he's from like Boy Meets World in the.
like that neighborhood you know what i mean yeah i've said it before like i think that i'm pretty sure
he was the main character in the movie brink like that's who that guy is yeah that is
yeah i agree that's so funny but i feel like because of the situation that happened between
him and katie they they broke down the fourth wall a little more between the two of them and
on their dates like they talked about how like oh yeah it's already decided like she'd come to
New York and like we'd find a place there and like they showed a lot more of that kind of
thing and then the like when they went and talked outside in the dark like I felt like they
were really setting it up for something to go wrong but anyways he felt so confident he was
100% in it I'm so curious to hear your thoughts on all of this because I think people are going
to be 50 50 I think some people are going to be like he was gaslighting Katie and how could he just
turn around and leave like that and then the other half will be like she should have showed more
emotion when he was talking about how like there's a hole in his heart and she filled this
hole and like all this stuff he was saying she was like yeah and she just kind of like
nodded her head i feel like some people are going to be like why didn't she give him anything
what do you think well first before we get into the heavy stuff i want to talk about gregg's sister
and like how many kids do you have lady uh it seemed like there was like 45 kids
And she's like, sorry, I could, I can't come to filming because I'm probably going to be due in a couple of, that woman, I was pumping him out.
No, wait, that's actually so funny because I was like, is this his only sister? Are these all of her children?
Like, they ranged from the ages of like 13 to 2.
Yeah.
And she was pregnant. And I was like, wait, are these all of her children?
Because that's a lot.
Yeah. And I wonder if, and Katie's sitting there being like, my, my ovaries, I can't
handle the Greg's family, you know, like, what they expect of me.
Totally.
She like gets a deal with Ova Egg freezing immediately.
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, honestly, like, coming on your podcast, I was interested to hear your perspective
of it, because this is kind of like your big, your big kind of like shining moment.
Right.
To go, you know, you have to go deal with the fallout of it all.
I mean, when I watched it, I can see both sides.
And unfortunately, like, I know too much now, too.
Like, I have now been a part of this for so long and know that what things seem on TV aren't necessarily true.
And that's not saying that, like, things aren't happening.
It's more of, like, a timeline thing.
Like, sometimes things are sped up or slowed down.
And so I think it's much more nuanced.
and what the audience is getting to see.
And so I think that's where it sucks on both sides.
Like I would assume that Katie and Greg's like kind of like in the dark meeting or that the conversation after like she meets his family was probably much longer, I would assume.
And much more went down, much more was said.
And then I would assume that like their conversation in the dark was probably a lot long.
longer. And so it's really hard for me to make any judgments, just knowing that there's probably
a lot of truth and emotions that were left on the cutting room floor. And it's also like not my job
to say anyone's right or wrong. Obviously, I have been in his shoes. I was, I never caught feelings
like he did, but like I went on the show on the Bachelorette. Like, I know that it's a stressful thing.
I know it's tough because you're kind of like always in your feels.
I mean, like, I mean, basically what the show is is, is you doing therapy like multiple times
the day talking about your feelings and like what your deficiencies are.
And like honestly, like why you're here, like what brought you to this place in your life
or you're on this reality show dating somebody.
And it's a lot of like introspection and he had a lot to process over everything.
he's been through for sure and i and i also wonder like if he really has probably
properly processed a lot of the things in his life up until this point and i would venture to say
probably not of the way that like he emotes on the show yeah and then on the other hand and that's
not making an excuse for like what he did or what he said or how he made her feel i just i can like
understand like him being like all kind of wound up in his feels like i i can understand that and
And then on her end, like, I've never been the bachelor or the bachelorette.
I can't imagine what those pressures are.
And so I can totally empath.
I had never been it, but I can see it.
And I know that that's like really, really heavy.
And so I can empathize with her.
And I can see her side of it as well.
The thing that I took away that I think that is getting lost in translation that made me feel
bad was the fallout that that this storyline does to the other guys that are
still there. Exactly. And, you know, the one thing that I think people always forget about with
the show, and that's something that you probably very much can relate to, is that when the show's
over, you have to probably watch or absorb the show playing back with the person you choose.
And that is going to be tough for her with whoever she, if she chooses anybody, I don't really know.
And so the whole time I'm sitting there watching it, I'm just sitting there being like, man,
I really feel bad for these other two guys because they're going to have to go through it.
Yeah.
And they have to feel like the default, like, oh, am I still here because he left?
Like, would I still be here otherwise?
And but if she did pick Greg and Greg did, say Katie reacted the way he wanted her to.
And she was like, oh, my gosh, I'm in love with you too.
Like, would they still be together?
Would he be able to watch the show back?
I don't know.
I think he had a really tough time with it.
And it is hard no matter who you are.
even if you're the most confident human being in the world,
watching it back is so hard.
And I was telling Katie this on my podcast where you go through this all
and then you close the chapter.
And if you're with someone or not, you are, that chapter is closed.
Well, then you have to reopen it, watch it all back.
And then face these people again for Mentel All and after the final rose.
And you just keep like putting salt in the wound when you're just trying to heal.
And it's the hardest thing ever to do that because you're trying to do it either,
you know, usually with somebody.
It really is a shit, shitty foundation to start on for a relationship because it makes it really difficult.
But I'm kind of in the same boat as you where I was obviously there and saw firsthand like what happened, how they both reacted to it.
The way that I see it is I think Greg clearly said he's never opened up like this before.
he's never been this vulnerable in his life before.
He's finally feeling all these things that he's wanted to feel after feeling numb about the loss of his father.
And I think he really believed it was him and her at the end.
And all he wanted her to say was like, oh my gosh, I feel the same way and like kiss him.
But she like just kind of.
And I think what Katie was doing was trying to be there for him as like, I'm listening and I hear you.
And I can't say anything, but I just want to do the listening right now and like rub your leg.
And that's really all I can do.
And he obviously expected a different reaction.
She didn't give it to him.
I do think Katie could have, like, kissed him or been like, oh, my gosh.
Like, I thank you for sharing that with me.
Like, I'm just so, you know, it felt like she was a little bit quiet.
But on the other end, I know that she was just feeling like, I was really just trying to listen and absorb and take it all in and let him speak and feel.
And so I was like, oh, my gosh, this is so difficult.
Now, I don't like that he came back into her hotel room and was like,
if it's not me like I can't be here because that's where I'm like have you not watch the show
like the same thing we were saying earlier you can't just leave because you don't think it's you
that's not how it works like you if you 100% love her Sarah's your wife your future to me
you would stay and do anything for that person and that kind of worried me that he was like oh
it's maybe not me I'm out I'm going to quit before I get fired yeah I blame Ben Higgins
Because he changed
Out of all of that,
the Ben Higgins is who we're going to blame.
Yeah, I blame Higgy Baby
Because he changed the rules.
Like he told like multiple people that he like loved them or was they loved them or whatever.
And then all of a sudden it became okay to save those things on the show.
Right.
And and that's where I go back to like,
has this kid never seen the show?
Like that's in years past like no one ever said this until the.
end of the show like until like they get down and on one knee and all that kind of stuff and
one because it helps it helps the show perpetuate upon itself like if she were to say that
then the show's over and then right then we get but we need three more acts of television like
what are you talking about like right so that's one thing that we're all just like you should
have known and maybe someone should have kind of explained to him like you just need to know
that that's just not how it goes so weird ben higgins.
just texted me, that his ears must be ringing, dude.
Oh my gosh, that's wild.
Yeah, because Ben and I are playing in a golf tournament with Jason.
With Jason. Yeah, he's so excited. He was like, and then he got weird. He's like,
oh God, Ben Higgins and Chris Lane is going to be there. I'm like, I think everybody's
over it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Are you guys all in the same team?
No, it's like, I think we won't be able to play with each other at all because like, I think
people who are donating
to St. Jude's are playing
with us. So we're like a little different group.
Oh, it's like, okay, okay. Yeah. We're raising money
for St. Jude's. Great thing.
But yeah, no, I blame Ben because
like he kind of changed the script on the whole
thing because I, and so this is where I
agree with, with Katie, like, wholeheartedly.
Like, I kind of like loved her.
Like, I'm not telling anyone I love them.
Yeah. Until the end, like,
and that's, that's out of respect
for the other people on the show.
And so, like, good for
you, dude. Now, was that, like, relayed to everybody? I hope so. And that's another thing of,
like, you don't know what was cut and what was in. Like, I assume that she probably told everybody
that, like, hey, listen, like, I've got this rule and you need to need to know that. And for all of
everyone's faults, Katie was like, I think she tried to give him as many hints of, like, what
was to come. She reassured him a lot. Yeah. And also, like, more so than anybody else. Like, you know,
it always seemed like he was her quote unquote front runner and it's a little bit of like dude
what do you expect from this girl at this point come on man like you got to cut her a little bit
of slack here especially when he said i deserve more than what i've been given i was like
you've been given more than most people get on the show yeah i yeah i got dumped on a one-on-one
in a speedo dude so like
I deserve more than that.
Yeah, they put me in like a yoga pants.
It was like skin tight.
We were swimming around on this like, this like lifted up pool so people, so they can film underneath because it's a glass bottom thing.
Like you can see my, my Wang and Chung all up in there.
And then then I got dumped.
So there's a little bit of me as like, we pump the brakes.
All right.
You've had it pretty good here, buddy.
So interesting.
Yeah, you know, and like the whole, it did seem like he kind of came at her with like,
there was no talking it out.
It was, I've made my decision and I'm, and I'm out of here.
And, you know, this is something that we run into in paradise a lot, which is, you know,
not to use like the wrong reasons bachelor cliche a lot, but like, here's the example of
paradise.
You're in a relationship before you get to paradise.
And then you come there.
you're never really kind of into it or whatever and then you kind of like flame out or whatever
and then you're out and then people are like that was messed up because I knew like six or seven
other people that like wanted to be here but couldn't because they wanted you to be here but
you were never like you never had your heart into it and that's messed up because now you're
making it so like other people don't get a shot at love or happiness or being having a fun time
with the beach and not to say that that's what happened to him it's like actually the adverse
where he like felt too much maybe right but but.
But I imagine, like, the Andrew S's watching it back being like, if this is how you felt,
like you couldn't handle it, then, like, maybe I would have had more of a shot with her.
And I imagine that's how she felt, too, that was like, you're kind of robbing me of other relationships.
And so, like, that's, I sympathize with her in that situation.
Now, I also see, like, his side of the coin, too, where, you know, he kind of poured his heart out and he won a little bit more back.
And that's where I wish he'd watch a show more because, like, like we said, I think he got.
a whole lot more than most. Right, right. And I think I'm interested to see the conversation
that happens between Katie and Greg when they have to face each other again, because I think
they've both, you know, closed to that chapter now, but I think they'll have a lot to say
about that situation because they have not spoken since. And I know that for a fact. So it'll be
interesting to see what they have to say to each other now that it's all said and done and looking
back, like, are they still going to be bitter? Are they going to be like, you know what?
It just wasn't meant to be. Like, I think it's, I think it's going to be a very interesting
conversation. Yeah. And once again, I'm going to go back to like how the other guys are feeling
about it. Like, let's say, I don't know what happens, but let's say she does choose one of the other
two guys that are still there and, you know, they're in a happy relationship. However,
she responds to this is going to be probably hard to,
experience with a other person that she's with, regardless of how she responds to it,
you know, unless she's completely like lazy fare, like, fuck it, it didn't matter, like,
you know, I don't even care.
But I imagine that's not going to be the case because it looks like she's pretty shooking up
about it.
And she seems like someone who likes to speak her mind.
And so I do worry about, like, how, whichever guy she chooses, if she does, is going to be
like, wait, can we just take a beat here and remember that, like, we're together.
nap you know i don't know yeah because you're right katie likes to speak her mind and as much as she
could be happy with somebody and be protective of that relationship she could also be like but i have
feelings and thoughts and i'm not going to just let them go because i'm with somebody you know like i don't
know i feel like i feel like she's really going to speak her mind yeah i just what i hope is like
that the perception isn't listen i don't know what happens on the mental no not uh africana rose
but like the perception of it could be like she's not over him if she's however she reacts and
that's what's scary for me for the other guy i'm just super empathetic to the other guys in this
whole thing because they've they've had to take a back seat to gregg like this entire season i'm
sure they're just so sick of the gregg show yeah so that sucks for them i totally agree
with you i totally agree um okay i've got one quick game of would you rather bachelorette edition before
we go.
Would you rather spend a day with Michael A or Andrew S?
Oh,
Andrew S.
But I want to go to Austria with Andrew S.
I want him to like show me around where he like played football.
I want to get something out of it.
Like I don't want to go to like a play date with like Michael and his kids.
You don't want to go to the jungle gym.
You want to go to Austria.
No, yeah.
I don't need to go to like the bounce house.
I don't need to. I want to go to Austria. That's how bougie I am.
Would you rather have to speak in Andrew's English accent for a month or only use maple syrup in the bedroom for a month?
The English accent, for sure. That just seems like such a mess.
Yeah, that's what I, when he was like, I'm used it in the bedroom and I'm like, maybe like once he has, but like you would learn very quickly to not do that again.
Yeah. I mean, like, and also like if you dripped any of it on the bed, like there's, it's going to like attract like feathers and hair and it's like it's going to be like this.
like gross spot, you know, and also not a great natural lubricant, you know?
It's really not and it dries up quickly and it's very sticky and it just didn't make a lot of
sense when he said that.
Okay, would you rather go on a double date with Connor, the cat and the girl from the audience
he made out with or Michael A and James to a bouncy house?
Connor.
I love Connor, but like, you got to understand like Connor and I, not to say that I didn't
spend time with maybe Michael in Paradise, but I spent a good amount of time with
Connor in paradise and
he's like what I like about him
he's such a fucking dork
but like but here's the thing
he owns it like I just like people
that like know who they are and just can like
be themselves and like he knows
a nerd and and he's a
hilarious nerd so
he's so funny and quirky and talented
and like he really is his own
person I agree with you
okay good
Thank you.
Okay. Would you rather do your very own whoa-wo challenge for a week or have been the camera
mandering Greg and Katie's breakup?
You guys' this whole jerk-off bit was so ridiculous.
I have to say, like that was the one thing.
I was like, how is anyone going to officiate this entire thing?
It doesn't make any sense to me.
Enter Caitlin.
Yeah.
I had to be the messenger, obviously, for that one.
But I was like, oh my gosh, this is so weird because I'm really finding out how much men jack off now because everyone was like, what?
And I'm like, what, can you not do that?
Or is that weird?
And I found out people do it twice a day.
And I was just like baffled.
And then it started so many conversations at home with wives and husbands and boyfriends and girlfriends of, how much do you jerk off?
Are you watching porn?
And then I was like, oh, this is a weird thing.
Yeah.
Well, what was funny about that was we never had like a whoa, whoa, challenge on Jojo's season.
but I remember us having conversation of like who's who's jerked it so you know like who's done it
and it wasn't there of course there are a couple of people who have like been like yeah
I I fed the pigeons I badgered the witness a couple times but there are a lot of us that were
like no because you're surrounded by so much testosterone yeah that like the thought of like going
and like first of all you got to like go into the bathroom or like the shower and like
There's a lot of steps that need to be done.
And so I remember it wasn't like a big thing on our season.
But what was my other option?
The, whoa, what would challenge or what else?
Or be the cameraman during Katie and Grades break out.
So wholeheartedly, 100%, like the Dirkoff challenge aside,
I would have loved to have been the camera guy.
Like, there are nothing, because that's my, I do that, but I don't have a camera on Paradise.
I just sit there on the bar and I'm like, oh, uh-huh.
And then I'll even be like, and then I'll even like, stir the pot me a little bit
being like, so what do you think about that?
You know, like, or like people around and like, so what do you think they're fighting about?
Like, I love that.
When you have no skin in the game, it's like, oh, this is so much fun.
So camera guy for sure.
Okay, fair.
It's funny that that's the conversation that guys have like, have you jerked it?
But all the girls are like, have you been able to poop yet?
Yeah.
That's what our conversation was.
That's funny.
Okay.
Would you rather have films?
in the New Mexico bubble or Palm Springs like Clarenetia.
Well, so I did all three of the bubbles.
Can I just say that I would have done nemocholin?
100%.
Yeah, that's what I've heard.
I mean, Nemecone was awesome.
I don't want to like talk shit about like the Marriott or whatever it was in New Mexico.
You know, Palm Springs was like 115 degrees.
New Mexico is snowing in 38.
degrees yeah but the food was just rough bro i talk about that all the time it was the worst it
but it wasn't the marriott's fault it was that we had a set menu yeah that we could have there
and it was just terrible yeah it was it was rough terrible yeah yeah nemicul and you could like
go down to like the little italian spot and get a pizza and a sandwich and stuff right yeah there was a
and there was like a bar that we could go to and there was like two like really nice golf course
horses that I went and played a bunch and yeah that sounds nice yeah I find so neither one sorry
that one uh okay last one would you rather be broken up with like Connor aka you're not a good
kisser and she doesn't feel it or like Thomas where she thinks you're there for the wrong
reasons uh in this hypothetical world am I on the television show yes then absolutely
Connor like I don't think that he looks like the bad guy whereas right or we're
I think Thomas looks like the bad guy.
That's true.
So, yeah, I don't want to, like, be known as, like, wrong reasons guy.
That's fair enough.
But I will say that kiss that Connor does at the mentel all, it does look bad and sloppy.
Like, I'll be the first to say it, bro.
He comes in from up top.
I don't understand why he needs to come in from up top and down on them.
That's the only thing I'm confused about.
Yeah, I know.
Does he kiss like that in paradise?
I don't know if I ever remember seeing him do it in front of me for me to be like,
but it's so funny because it was a couple seasons ago where I think his name was Kevin.
He was from like Russia.
He had huge muscles and he hadn't kissed someone.
And so Derek and I were giving him like tips on how to kiss.
Yeah.
And it's like in credit role.
And it's so funny where I'm like telling him how to do it.
And Derek's like going in for it.
So I wish I had known all this, like, bad kissing stuff in paradise because I would have done, like, let me teach you, but not like really, but like on this melon.
Walking through some steps.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's so funny because I thought, I forgot about that, that you wouldn't have known that.
It was going to be a thing where we were like giving him lessons on how to make out.
And then we just felt so bad because we're like, maybe he's not a bad kiss or maybe it's just like he really doesn't have the chemistry with Katie.
and like he's just so sweet and such a good guy
and Jason and I got to do that double date with him
and we were like he's awesome like keep him around
just for a friend's sake like he's so great
not that any guy would want to be around for a friend
but you know what I mean
well that's where I was on the show
I was I was Joe Joe's buddy
and I was like totally fine with it I was like
where we're going next
Uruguay let's go
that was me with Jared
I was like I loved
hanging around with Jared, we'd always, like, have the best conversations and, like, so much
fun. And it was such a friend vibe like for me anyway. But now I'm like, well, he's still my
friend. So it's cool. Yeah. It all worked out. It all worked out. Well, what do you think happens? Do you think
Katie gets off the bathroom floor? She's still there next week. Well, I don't think anyone's booking
your flight home. Just knowing how, uh, this works. Maybe. Maybe. But I don't think that's happening.
That's another thing. I was like, Katie, have you seen the show? Like, uh,
You can't just book your plate home now.
The only way out of here.
The only way out of here is to jump over a fucking fence in Portugal.
Like, that's it.
Seriously.
No, I think that she will, this is probably me tough.
She probably has to have a hard conversation with the guys.
This is kind of what happened with Peter, right?
Like Peter was kind of pot committed with, I forget her name now.
Hannah Ann?
No.
Madison.
Madison.
Yeah.
And then he then he like proposes to Hannah Ann, but then like it all comes out that like, and so she's in a tough spot.
So I think what she's going to have to do or what she should do if I was giving her advice behind the bar.
I'm like, you need to have a conversation with these guys.
You need to level with them about what happened.
See if they still like want to continue.
Also like do some soul searching if you want to continue.
And then and then, you know, maybe request like another couple dates with these guys.
just to like kind of maybe smooth things out and then then go from there.
That's what you think happens.
Well,
well,
I know it happens,
but I think she should do what you said.
I think that's a very good call.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well,
thanks for being on the pot again.
I always love having you on for a little recap or even if it's not talking about
bachelor stuff.
You're great and come back another time.
Okay.
Thank you.
Later, dude.
Bye.
Bye.
I'm Kate.
