Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Grape Therapy: Bachelorette Recap (and “Operation: Remember Tampon”) with Jillian Harris
Episode Date: July 15, 2021Fellow Canadian Bachelor and Bachelorette alum, Jillian Harris, joins Kaitlyn to recap this week’s episode of The Bachelorette. Jillian shares the benefits of an Albertan Liver but still sh...ows up hungover after a night of attempting watching The Bachelorette and it’s basically all UPHILL from there as Kaitlyn and Jillian have what feels like a decade-worth of catching up to do about life on the other side of Covid, camping faves, The Jilly Academy, her FARM (?!!), and a “juicy” new business venture between the two that should definitely come to fruition. Jillian also opens up about her “controversial” natural silver foxy lady hair and aging in the spotlight with the inevitable trolls that come along with it. Things wrap up with Jillian sharing a confession about a recent embarrassing sex moment with her partner of 10 years and a follow up confession featuring Kid Rock and some tampons that were forgotten... Here's Caitlin.
Welcome to Great Therapy.
I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow.
Today I got to chat with another Bachelor alum that I know.
know so many of my vino's love as well, my Canadian hometown girl, Jillian Harris, who has
an Albertan liver, just like me, which we talk about and find out because she shows up hungover
after a night of watching The Bachelorette. I feel that. I feel like her and I have a decade
worth of things to catch up on, so I hardly know where to begin. But we talk about how things
are finally opening up COVID-wise in British Columbia, her favorite camping spots, and her
farm. She owns a farm. I feel like they need to make a TV show about this.
how she's happily embracing her controversial silver fox lady look and the realities of aging in the spotlight.
Her Jilly Academy, Mom Life, and quite possibly our new business venture together.
You guys can hear it all.
This woman is crazy busy, but I do not know how she does it.
We have so much fun catching up on life that we sort of forgot to recap this week's Bachelorette episode,
but definitely sprinkle in a little bit of it throughout our chat.
We touch on Operation Woe, the Drag Queens.
It was an interesting one, but it was a little bit.
necessary based on the rumors floating around in that house. So Jilly and I had so many laughs.
She's always a firecracker, ball of fun. So I hope you enjoy my catch-up and mini-batch recap with her.
Grape therapy starts now.
Okay, first of all, hi. How are you?
Hi. I'm great. How are you? I'm hungover.
Oh, no. What did you do last night?
Well, I drank.
we have our team shoots on Monday
and the girls is so beautiful
in the Okinaw again and we had such a good day
and we got so many good pictures
I'm like you guys we should have a little glass of wine
like the kids aren't going to be home for an hour
to have a little glass of wine
so then you know Nicole
yeah I give you Nicole's number
who does the one here
so then she came over to drop off some stuff
and all the girls were here so she's like
well I'm going to stay for a glass of wine
I'm like well you guys might as well stay
I have to watch The Bachelorette tonight
everybody might as well stay
And then cake mama who makes all of her cookies, she came to pick cherries.
And then she came in and then her husband and her kids came in.
So everybody was here until then.
Like, you know what it's like when you're trying to watch The Bachelorette with like 15 people and kids?
It doesn't work.
I'm going to, I'm going to just ask you a lot of questions.
I'm going to ask you the question.
And this podcast is going to be about you telling me what it's about.
That's perfectly fine.
I don't know how you do anything.
Like, you are the most busy.
Like, I just wish I had your batteries.
They just don't run out, and I just don't understand.
No, it's so funny.
I woke up this morning, and Justin's like, are you, are you mad at me?
I'm like, no, I'm not mad.
He's like, well, is it okay that I go to Vancouver?
And I'm like, well, what's wrong?
And I'm like, well, I'm stressed about today.
I'm a podcasting with Caitlin.
I barely watched the show last night.
I have four interviews today, like three meetings.
And he's like, and you're a little hungover.
I'm like, yes.
That never helps anything.
You never get hungover.
I'm like, I know.
That's why I'm stressed.
That is the word. You're like me. You've got that Alberta liver where you usually don't get hungover. But when you do get hungover, because you're like me, it, it sucks because you're like, wait, what is this? I'm not used to it. Is this what people feel the next day after drinking? I don't understand. And isn't it when you have your own business, you're like imagining what it would be like if you call them sick, but you're like it's possible. Like I cannot call in sick. You cannot call in sick as being a mom either. No, no. So, but anyways, I'm good.
summer. It's very smoky here in the Okinawam, but summer is here, which is so nice. And I'm taking
off a whole bunch of time off work this summer. Leo's going to kindergarten in the fall. So I'm getting
ready for that. Wait, it's smoky that sucks. I wanted to come there in end of September. And I always get
so nervous for the Okanagan around this time for their weather and the fires. It's bad, right?
So bad. Yeah. Oh, that's too bad. Are you going to come? Are you going to come?
Yeah, I'm going to. I'm like freaking out because I have not been home in.
in two years. So I think I'm going to come at the end of September and then go to
Alberta and see my dad, my sister and the kids in October. And I don't even know. My life is
just so I don't even know where I'm going to be in like one week. I'm in L.A. right now.
And like, okay, I have a question where when you leave your kids, do you like lose your mind
after like a day of being away from them? Oh yeah. As I was going to ask, what are you going to
do with the dogs? I'm, I'm going to be a really, really crazy mom because I'm still going to be like
have stuff going on and I'm going to have to leave at some points to like go do something and I can't
handle leaving two dogs like I bawled my eyes out yesterday. Caitlin, I'm so curious to see what you're
going to do when you do have kids because remember how much I used to travel. I used to go to New York.
Like once every two months, I'd be down in LA. I was like that. I was always always traveling.
And now people are like giving me an offer to go speak in Toronto or go do a media tour. Like I'll
turn down a whole campaign. I'm like, I don't I don't want to leave my kids.
kids i went to whistler um to do my ted talk and i was like let's go there and let's go back i was gone
from the kids for like two and a half days and i was like i could feel my heart was like breaking on the
way back like it was breaking oh my gosh it's like even though i know they're okay i'm i'm not
like i'm just not okay without them and it's so funny because they just love being with them i do
they elevate my mood like i wake up happy because i wake up with the dogs and i totally
notice a difference in my like mental state just from being away from them versus being
with them. Don't you have the special papers? Yeah, but the airlines change that so you can't do it
anymore. And it's so frustrating. I think there might still be away. But it's like I already did.
I did kind of change my lifestyle a little bit when I got them and then COVID happened. So I was like
used to being around them at all times. Grab a coffee and discover nonstop action with Bud MGM

Tell me, okay, you guys love to camp.
Yeah.
I was trying to think about things
that like there's so many people that follow you and so many people like same listeners as mine that
follow you and people are always talking about like your busyness your lifestyle but you still
make time for like camping and quality family time and for people that are in bc or travel there
or want to go vacation there where's your favorite spot or is that something that you want to be
like no that's my hidden gem and i'm not telling anybody no i can tell people now because now that
we have the farm we camp at the farm so we've got our own camping spot so i'm not but before yeah
Okay, so my favorite camping spots are Fintree, which is right down the road from us, super close.
It's really beautiful and you're walking distance to the lake.
Bear Creek, Bear Creek, yeah, Bear Creek, which is just down the road from us too, but it's super hard to get into.
And Kentucky Al-Aleen, I think it's called between here and Merritt.
And it's like gorgeous, like crystal blue, green lake, like, totally beautiful.
Those are my three top places.
I love camping so much.
You can't get in.
like if you if you want to camp you basically have to be a diehard camper and you have to be it
the doors open on like may 1st or something and you have to have all your weekends you have to have
you have to have your lot picked out and you have to you have to reserve for the entire summer and if
you don't get in you're basically screwed but there's an app that I found not sponsored it's called
it's called camp nab and it's expensive it's like a hundred bucks a year but you type in the
weekends that you want to go and whenever there's a cancellation it notifies you
to go and like book a thing that's smart yeah we actually um leo i was really upset because we bought
there for anybody who doesn't know we bought a farm last year basically every
a farm yeah basically every single red penny that we ever saved or thought thinking of it
everything went to the farm we're so excited we're like we're gonna have our own camping spot
for the rest of our lives like this is amazing so leo goes the other day remember when we used to
go camping i'm like we go camping every weekend he's like yeah i don't like the farm
I'm like,
Oh, I know.
So he'd rather us spend $35 a night in a scorching heat in the middle of a field
with a bunch of other people peeing in the bush rather than our farm.
So I was like, oh, that's right?
He wants the true authentic camping lifestyle.
He just wants to, oh my gosh, that's so funny.
Yeah, I don't like the farm.
Well, that's nice because it's going to be your life for the rest of your life.
Oh, my gosh.
That's so, are you guys going to stay in the house that you're now and then have the farm?
Yeah. So our plan is, well, so our plan is evolved. Originally, we were just going to have it as our forever home and like to farm something just to keep our farm status. But it is so beautiful. I can't quit myself. So we're currently trying to figure out like how can we have this somewhat open to the public. So my community can enjoy it. But then we also have our privacy. So let's figure out like how that would work. So we're thinking about partnering with a winery. Ooh. Oh, that's awesome.
some we should talk i know both of our like the wheels just started spinning think of this so yeah we want
to plant some grapes oh my god wait i just got butterflies oh lillelujah oh i really got that feeling i was
like okay so i have we've been talking to a few different wineries but after this call we should
book some time to talk this is so people are going to see maybe something evolve right from here
So we want to do some grapes, but we don't want to have our own winery, right?
Like, I want to help curate it.
I want to help design it, do our own little white label.
So we're thinking about doing some grapes.
We're going to build a big barn.
And what I'd like to do is have events.
Like, I want to take the Jilly Academy to the barn.
So we do like four events a year, maybe one time you can come in, co-host with me.
And we can go out to the field and pick some Saskatoonberries and Tori can teach us how to make jam.
And then we can train the wine and talk about entrepreneurship and have like a bunch of women together.
So that's what I would like to do.
And I'm thinking about having like a little maybe food component, like a little teeny tiny cafe and you're like, whatever is in the garden.
You're like, okay, you want to come.
We have fresh carrots in the garden today.
So you're going to have like carrot or like it is.
So that's what I'd like to do.
That's what Justin and I would like to do.
But we're just not sure about like what can you do with like all of the restrictions, the bylaws, the farming, whatnot.
And also just like our privacy as a family.
Right, right.
Holy crap.
That's so cool.
That's such a cool idea.
And I feel like that's so on brand for you to do that.
But it's going to take, it's going to take like five years.
Like I imagine.
So once that barn is built and we have a business, then we'll start building a house.
And then we'll move so probably move into that house in like five years.
I mean, I love your house right now, but I can only imagine what you do with a little farmhouse.
And that is so exciting.
I can't wait to like come and visit and see everything.
And I just, there's something about that lifestyle of growing your own food and being on land.
and just like appreciating like all of the things that, you know, that we take for granted every single day that there's something about that lifestyle that I think really makes people happy, like genuinely happy, good for the soul.
It is amazing. So we're growing cut flowers right now and I go out there and I like check on my little babies and I do my little trimming and it's like I'll stay out there to like nine or 10 o'clock at night in the sun setting and covered in dirt and worms. I'm like, oh, this is actually so amazing. I'll save this house for you and Jason.
Okay, that would be great. Thank you. I wanted to buy your first house. Remember that? I wanted to buy that. I was, you know, I was going through memories. Actually, you popped up on my memory today. Five years ago today was you pregnant with Leo at your shower. No. Yes. Oh, my God. That was so fun. You surprised me. Yes. That was amazing. I know. Isn't that crazy that that was five years ago today?
also i'm loving these money pieces on you i know like i'm going like fully gray i'm like fully
yeah but you freaking rock it and it makes me so happy because first of all i think i have this
issue of fear of aging and not just because of looks but because well one because of looks but
because of it means like time is going and it's just like it's aging to me is scary and when i see
people like rocking certain things like that i'm like they're still you're such a
young person who cares if you have gray hair and I feel like you just rock it and it makes me feel
more confident about aging and certain things because I'm like it's just hair but as women
and the society has put on us that hair is so important and like you know I mean looks have been put
on us that it's so important and I can't even tell you last night when I was watching the episode
how many tweets I got about how disgusting I look on TV. It was
was like tweet after tweet even to the point where like jason's usually like ignore it he was like oh my
gosh people are coming for you and i was just like why is everything so based on looks all the time and
i always speak up about it and i always say something but it's never going to end and i just
wanted to say thank you for being like just so authentic at all times even if that means growing gray
hair it's so freaking weird i was just thinking about this because my gray hair is very controversial
right now people like people are fighting with each other about my gray hair i'm like you got
I can't help it like there's nothing I can do about it but let's be serious I'm letting my gray hair
go but last week I went and I got boat like I can't move my eyebrows just stay my life like I'm
surprised like okay so but this is the difference it's not that I'm not embracing but like with the gray
hair it's like so right mine's right at my crown and it's white it's white it's not just like gray
but it's white and so if I go and get my hair died within four days if I put my
hair up you can already see a band yeah i just think it looks horrible the band looks horrible and so
at least with botox you go like once every four to six months and when it wears off it's not
that noticeable right it's like i can't maintain this every week i cannot do it so i'm like
it like i'm all for embracing age but also if there's something that i can do to help maintain
my youth but the gray hair just yeah you got to pick and choose your battles with yourself that's
I totally feel that because I, you know, I eventually will be gray.
My mom was gray in her 30s.
And I am the same way.
Like, I want to absolutely rock something and still do, like, I will never not do
Botox.
And I'm like, I don't like, I don't know why Susan 8, 432 thinks if she tells me to stop
doing Botox, I'm going to listen to her like, oh, thanks.
You know what?
I will.
I'm going to listen to you, troll.
Like, no, I'm always going to do Botox.
And I love it.
But there's other things that like, exactly.
Like your body aging or creating life, like it's going to change and you have to embrace that.
I'm older. I'm like, I'm 41. I am older. But what I was going to say is, like, to do
with your point of people last night, it's like, the people are like, oh, well, you put yourself
on social media, so therefore we should have an opinion. It's like, just because somebody's
out there in the public eye doesn't mean you get to be an asshole. Right. Like, oh, I'm just telling the
truth. Well, if the truth could potentially hurt somebody, and why bother saying it? Like, if I said,
I hate you guys like my gray hair, but I'm not saying that. I'm saying, I'm embracing.
in the gray hair. I like it. People like, well, I'm sorry, I don't. I'm like, you could just
keep that too. Like, it doesn't bother me. Like, I know. Who does that? Who does that?
Weirdos do that. Yeah. No. The weirdest of the, there's just so many weirdos on the internet.
And again, Jason was like, okay, you get off Twitter and I'll read you a bunch of nice ones that are
coming in because that always like, and not that I should, like, it's not that I base myself
worth on what people are saying about me. But after I was just like so brought down.
It was nice because I was like, oh, yeah, there's so many lovely people out there, too.
And I, like, so we just, that was a good play.
Putting down Twitter and Jason was like, I'll just read you a few nice ones.
And I was like, okay, that sounds good.
But I mean, Jason goes on the TV and everyone's like, he's so hot, he's perfect, he's great.
And then they're like, eh, Caitlin, because it's women always commenting on other women's looks.
It's so wrong.
You know, it's funny too.
People always say to me, well, just ignore those comments.
I'm like, well, so my whole reason for being on here and you too is that connection.
is to make people happy build those connections and so you can't when you're reading the comments
you can't just go okay eyes just skip over the negative ones you see it all right it's important
doesn't matter how much money you make doesn't matter how many followers you have it does it does hurt your
heart it does oh like you try like you know physical stuff i'm like whatever i have a laugh about it
like i can't do anything about my gray hair in reality yeah i would like to not have gray hair
but I do. So I've got to figure out, like, how to embrace it.
Yeah. But yeah, I just always wonder, like, I could never imagine going on to somebody
else's feed and being like, I liked it better when you were skinny or I liked it better when
your face looked this way. Like, yeah, I know. It's, it's crazy and it doesn't stop. But it's just like,
I don't know. I always think that I can do something about it or if I say something and then it,
but then it turns into like last time I said something, it turned into a headline. Oh, Caitlin,
claps back and blah, blah, blah. And then people see that it bothers me. So then it was like,
I think that's why it was times 10 this time because they're like, ooh, it bugs her. Let's go
after it more. So then I'm like, well, I just did it to myself kind of thing.
But you looked amazing, honestly. Oh, well, thank you. Tell me about your new projects going on,
this academy that you have started. Literally, I've never worked on something so hard in my entire
life because it's like your knowledge, right? Like, you have to go back in your brain.
so basically what started happening probably about five years ago when like the we were doing all kinds of like ads right ads on instagram and that was sort of my job i was doing
but i knew i wanted like my own brand that i could be in charge of my own boys and so i started reanalyzing the partnerships that i was doing
i'm like i want to be involved so that's why i started doing like partnerships with smash and tess and melany old and joe fresh
where i could like actually curate yeah i started the jilly box so i could like design
my own thing. So we did that successfully for a couple of years and I like really enjoyed the process
of becoming like an entrepreneur and like not just one businesses, but several businesses and like
working with other small businesses. But with the jilly box, what we found is that so many small
businesses wanted to be a part of jillie box. But then they also were like, how do we take our
business to the next level? Even as an influencer, how do we take our business to the next level?
And I feel like with all of the different experiences that I've had, I've really had my
eyes open to like the right way of doing it, the wrong way of doing it, mistakes, wins.
Not that there is a right or wrong way, but like things that really worked and things that I
learned from. And I had been asked a few times to mentor either small businesses or influencers.
And I just could never find time in my schedule. And I'm like, well, I could do one, but is that
actually going to have impact? And I also think about like, think about what you've done with your
business and brand and what I've done with my business and brand. And it's not just from having the
platform of being on the bachelor and bachelorette. Some people go on the show and they don't
do anything with that opportunity. And there are people who are monetizing social media
that have never been on a show. So I really started to think about like, I am so grateful for this
opportunity. It's allowed me to have my own voice, to run my own schedule, to work at home with
my kids, to travel, to buy a farm. And I think about that freedom and how proud I am. And I want
that for every single one of my community members. I want that for every woman out there for them
to at least have the choice. If you don't want to work for yourself, that's fine because it is
but I wanted them to have that choice and I wanted to be able to share every single piece
of knowledge that I had. So we created something called the Jilly Academy. So there's three courses
and it's all about like the first one is about like finding your heart and soul of your business,
your why, your value, your mission. Like what is it all about like what are you going to do? And
then the second one is like how do you make it happen so it's all about photography and editing and
your planoli and you're planning your feed and your um why is a blog important why is this and like
all that kind of stuff and then you're the third course is all about monetizing so contracts
electronic press kits how to monetize the financial component of it getting an agent why is an agent
important what are some things to consider with influencer marketing so yeah so three
courses that took us like two years to produce and they're all online they're pretty cool but
yeah it was it was a lot of i've done a lot of i've done a lot of things out there and this was
definitely the most energy i put into anything but how genius of an idea is that because that's not
really available to many people and it's such a smart business idea because you are so good at
wanting to help other people and what you've done since you were the bachelorette like you've
grown tremendously from doing other things. And like, yeah, it started there. But if I were someone
watching from the outside, I'd be like, I need a course on how to do that. So you basically have
created that. And where can people find this course? And how long does it take? So first of all,
there's a lot of courses that are actually out there. But they're like, if you take my three week
course, you're going to become a millionaire. Our course doesn't like that. And our course doesn't
try to upsell you for like another course. Another course. It's like, this is all the information that we have.
And it's still hard work.
Like it is the course itself.
Like I've had to take the course like three times.
And I'm like, oh, God, this is so hard.
But I'm like, oh, yeah, I did this.
I wrote this course.
So it's just called the Jilly Academy.
However, we are schools out for summer right now.
And so the courses aren't available again until September 1st.
I wanted to give our team a break.
We worked so hard.
And our team was like maxed out.
I wanted them to enjoy the summer, make real life connections,
the people we have, I think over, I've been several thousand alumni and they worked so hard
in this spring. And so I really wanted everybody to just take a breather. So we opened the courses
back up in September and then we'll probably start doing more courses in 2022. So we wanted to do
like all kinds of courses, like maybe like a self-love or maybe a mental health or maybe
diversity, equity, and inclusion talking about social justice, like collaborating with other
people in our community to create a really fun place to learn. So we'll probably continue to do more
courses, but I, I didn't think it was going to be that hard. I was like, this will be great.
I'll just chat on camera about how I did my thing. But after they were released and done,
I was like, I can't, I can't do any more. I need a break. Like, I need a lot of work. Yeah,
yeah, no, it was a lot of work. But yeah, super cool. And I, I'm proud of it because I wanted to be
to like we sell you and I we sell things like I can sell a romper like nobody's business jillipot
whatever but what can I provide to my community that isn't an instant gratification thing
that will actually enhance and enrich their lives where they can invest in themselves they can
grow and something that isn't going to end up in a landfill like what is thing so I'm like what can
I create that will really that I will really have that true genuine connection and so that's what
the jillie academy is all though wow I'm really proud of you that's
Like, I mean, you've done so much, but that's something that's, I know how much work and effort that was for you. And that's, it's such a cool thing to be able to give back the way that you do. And you always use your platform in like the most incredible way. And even if it's hard or you don't know what to say or like I always find that I learn from you. And I'm like, I want to do that. And I want to be like that because it's it's so nice to see people even if they're scared to talk about something, at least trying.
this is off the vine grape therapy i must be like the alberta juice in us or something but you know in
2020 we obviously learn a lot about ourselves and others past and whatnot and it was scary because
i don't know about you but there's a lot of shit that i didn't know and i wasn't stuck in this like
little safe white bubble. And I didn't acknowledge a lot of the stuff that I probably should have.
And you grew up in northern Alberta as well. I'm sure you experienced and saw so much racism as it
relates to the indigenous community. And so having to unpack that in 2020, I had a lot of like white
guilt and a lot of like, how do I make this right? And trying to do that publicly. And you just
realize the only way to do that is just to do it and screw up and then learn from it and then
screw up again. Because you'll never get it really right. And,
it was really scary for me because every time I'd screw up, you know, swarms and people would come at you saying, like, you can't say that. That's not how it is. And then you have to remove yourself from that situation and go, okay, this is the only way I'm going to learn and bring this community along with me for that learning journey. But you have to, it isn't for the faint of heart. Like, you have to like, I'm going to fuck up and it's going to, I'm going to get shit. And then I'm going to have to do it all over again.
I know. And you just have to like know that going into it. But I think the important thing is,
wanting to learn that's and there's so much happening in Canada right now and and uncoverings
and things happening that's just you know that of course again we we we're probably experiencing
all the time but turned a blind eye to it totally yeah that's I just I just got this book actually
it's right here 21 yeah you saw it's so good I'm so proud I saw that I was like I'm so proud of you
like you know like yeah I think it's a good thing have you started reading it yeah I'm just
I started on the plane here.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
It's shocking.
And I would like to now, you know, did you talk to Shayla?
Did you have Shayla?
On the blog.
Yeah.
She is, she, I've learned a lot from her.
I follow her account.
And because after I read and, you know, educate myself more and more, I've been, I'm taking a 12-week
course too.
And I'm going to, and then I want to have Shayla on the podcast.
It's like through Alberta.
Okay.
Because I'm taking a course from Monique Melton.
It starts.
in the fall, and it's a 12-week course, like an anti-racism course, and it's going to be a big one.
But I know that the Corso one, the University of Alberta, 12th course, yeah.
Yes.
I've heard that's awesome as well.
So Shayla O is her, Shaila Stone Child.
She is incredible.
Yes, she is.
It's absolutely incredible.
Her father was a residential school attendee, and he didn't die at residential school,
but he later committed suicide just from the pain and having to deal with everything
that came from that. So she's very connected to that sort of story.
Yes.
Yeah, she's an incredible person to follow. And she's just, you know, she's got great
style. She's got a great way to communicate with her community. And I really connected
with her. I've never met her in person. Yeah. Hopefully. Yeah, one day. Yeah, that's, yeah,
she's, she's truly incredible. So what about you? What is going to happen with you when you're
done the Bachelorette? Where are you going to go? I'm always like, are they still in Nashville?
But yeah, are you guys going to stay in Nashville?
Yeah, we're going to stay in Nashville for a little bit.
And then, I mean, I don't, we, you know, we often discuss when we're going to have kids and where we want to raise them.
So we don't know, but it's, you know, we're there for right now.
But yeah, it's so, I always think about you with watching, because I've watched so many of the episodes with you.
We were watching at your house, when Jason was on the TV, I just thought that's so funny to think about now.
but now we had our double date what you were with me yeah you were watching that was and jason was on the show
yeah oh my god did you do you remember him back then being like oh he's cute yeah i always i thought
he was great um you i think you were pregnant with annie yeah you were oh my god i have the worst
memory of this kind of stuff that's so crazy so who was the bachelorette then beca cooferrin yeah
and we watched the finale of that one together but it's so funny because i don't think have you
watched since like because i mean when do you have time to watch the bachelorette it's not that i have
anything against it i love the franchise i love like so much of where i am right now is because of
the show and um i really love the show but i just don't understand how like my kids don't go to bed
until 8 8.30 and then it's nine then i tidy up the house and then i go to bed and so i'm like
when with this when would i watch the show and i want to but even last night i'm like four glasses of
whining and I'm like, I'm literally just like, did they just get married? Oh, Caitlin looks cute and I'm
asleep. Well, there's a lot to unpack because I feel like people are like, what in the
hell? It was a very choppy episode where you're like, it just jumped around a lot, but it started
off with like me telling the guys they can't whack off for a week. Yeah, so it's that one is week
off, whack off. I was like, that's the whoa, whoa, week off wacking off. And I wish they showed us
coming up with that name because Katie, I don't know where Katie, Katie's so funny. And she's just like,
I don't know. Let's see if they could hold out for until fantasy suites. And I'm like, why would
you want that? And then she's like, okay, let's see if they can do it for a week.
And then we'll be over really quick. Well, that's what I said. And so then she was like, well,
let's just give them a challenge. And we thought it was hilarious. And I knew the internet would
have a different reaction, but it was so funny just because it was funny to us. Because we're like,
what a stupid challenge. But whatever, let's see how far it goes. And I just love like, Blake just so
open and honest. He's like, oh, yeah, like twice a day.
sometimes like I've got a schedule like it was just funny but do you think they actually did
it because like they couldn't go to the bathroom and like they were really to commit like
it's an inner commitment Jason did you masturbate during the bachelorette he said 100% where
yeah 100% the shower the shower yeah in the hotel when you get to the hotel stage it's easier
but in the mansion I didn't whack out it's too hard too hard in the mansion you waited until you're
on the road you didn't masturbate you didn't masturbate
for two weeks. Yeah, there was like 15 days in my room. Oh, holy crap. Yeah. That's and that shower like,
yeah. For guys, I mean, I mean, not to get in too much detail, but it's here. You can do it in like a
bathroom or in a shower, but for me, I would need like a bed. Like I would need like some candles.
I would need like a romantic setting. I would need to like get in the zone. Like I can't just
pump one out in the shower like guys can. Yeah. It's not fair. It's very different for guys. But I
loved all Connor's uh terms for the operation well well he's like no more downtown mr brown
no more low low fives was the funniest one low five solo hockey i was like oh my gosh this is a math
teacher talking about jerking off it was really um awkward oh my freaking god yeah i put it i used
say like the hansla and pomola that's what i said on they they edited it out but i said
Pamela Henderson.
Yeah.
Yeah. Jason liked that one.
I just loved watching, you know, because we got to obviously see the behind the scene and stuff.
She'd come back from the dates, tell us about it, or we'd hear things. So now to watch them all play
out, I was like, oh, I can see her connection with Justin. And when they were like putting
on wedding dresses, I was like, oh, my gosh, they are really sweet. And she would, you know,
it's so nice to be a viewer while also, like, because we had just heard about it. It's not like
we saw every date. I mean, Jason and I were pretty creepy. I seem to somehow always be like,
lurking in the bushes this season watching her make out with guys but it's jason i had so much fun on that
date so basically you girls are hosting it remember we were like unsure what your role is yeah but you're
hosting it i was very unsure and then by the end of it i was like i think i think everybody was
unsure of our role going into it and so tisha is as well because you guys are doing an incredible job
you girls you are doing incredible job i'm so proud of you thank you this is an amazing move and
I mean, this is so cool.
It diversifies the show so much.
Absolutely.
Different.
And, well, you're the best.
Thank you.
I'm going to air that twice.
I'm going to put it on repeat.
Yeah.
But yeah, it's, it's so fun.
And it's, I'm so excited that they give me this opportunity to still.
Like, like you said, I just, like, I love the franchise.
And I had a hard time with them for a couple years there.
But like, it feels like such a healthy relationship between us now.
Like, it was almost like a breakup with ABC.
And then we were like, wait, this is silly.
yeah and then we're all like in love again and a happy little family but i just love it and i love
i love the whole franchise but like even i'm as my small little corporation i'm doing so much
work as to like what is right and what is wrong and and that's just all part of the process you
got to hold people accountable even if you love them like even when everything's going on
with chris i'd text it chris right away and i was like do think you were in the wrong
do you think there was something to you but i've been going through a process if you ever need somebody to chat with
this is what I did. I hired DEI consultants. I did the courses. I did the classes. I did the
reading. Because otherwise, yeah. And I think Bachelor Nation does a really good job at holding the
franchise accountable. And I think I think ABC does a good job at listening and saying, okay, you know,
we do need to make these changes. I'm like obviously it's taken a long time, but change doesn't happen
overnight. And they've been, you know, definitely taking steps in the right direction. So I'm like,
so stoked to be part of that change. And especially just,
having two women come in to yeah what an honor it's just it's really really cool but wait what's your
favorite part of the episode let's just like i loved the queens that was amazing oh my god amazing
that was that for sure that's my favorite part and i see how the show is diversifying and like
talking about things and not having to like be this like um you know like cookie cutter version
and not like i just absolutely love it i would say that and also i did like the wedding part of
it because I was like, wait a second, what is happening? Like, it gets everybody's attention.
Like, what's happening? Are they actually getting married? Didn't the show just start? And I also
you and Tasha, you was beautiful. I love seeing you on there. And I'm so proud. And I just love you so much.
And you're talking about how much I've done with my thing. But it's like, I hope you are very proud
when you go to bed at night. And you think of everything that you've done as well. And that doesn't
just happen just by being beautiful and funny. That happens by being like driven and being
oriented and being a good human being and being a good communicator and all that comes on.
Thank you for saying that.
That means a lot, especially coming from you because I truly have looked up to you.
You know this.
I tell you this all the time, but like truly looked up to you as like not only just the
Bachelorette before.
Like I remember watching that just looking up to you, but everything that you've done.
I was like, I want to do what Jill does.
Like I want to build my own things and I want to have businesses and I want to be this
entrepreneur and do exactly what she's doing.
So thank you for inspiring me.
You're doing great.
Oh, shit.
They brought up the conversation.
Ah!
What do you have?
one. Yeah, so you get to pick whether you want the, you want the really disgusting, like,
people are going to be, that is so gross. Like, if my in-laws are listening, please shut it off.
That's the one I want.
Literally this weekend, Justin and I drove, we went on a little mini vacation.
And we don't get away from the kids often.
And so we were having sex, right?
Yeah, yeah.
He got it was a little tipsy.
It was fun.
And after we're done, he's like, it felt different.
And I'm like, what do you mean?
He's like, so embarrassing.
It felt like I was hitting something.
And I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm on my period.
I have a stamp on him.
I had to go.
And so we had sex.
I forgot.
Like, we had driven.
Like, it was kind of like the end of the period.
Like, you know,
you only change the time on like one today. And as soon as we got to where we were going,
we met up with some people and we had dinner with them and we had drinks and then we just kind of
forgot. And then I was like, oh my God. I was like, he's like, so I run to the bathroom. He's like,
is it in there? I'm like, yes, it is in there. It was so embarrassing. Maybe I can tell
them that I poop five times a day. I'm sure that's what I said on your last podcast.
There's a lot of poop, a lot of poop confessions. This is a good one because this is new material.
I haven't heard that one before.
I had to go fishing for it.
It was up there.
I had to go digging.
I couldn't.
I've been there, done that, not from the same situation, but I've, like, been tipsy where I was like, wait, do I have a tampon in?
Do I not?
And then I just shove another one in there.
And then I take one out the next morning and then, you know, you start to notice and then you got to go fishing.
Yeah.
Okay.
Thank you.
I don't feel so bad.
But anyways, I was, like, I've been with Justin for 10 years.
I was like, oh, it was like embarrassed.
And then I'm telling you know the whole world.
Well, you know what?
We're a family here on Off the Vine and, you know, it's okay.
And I've been there and done that.
And it's so funny, I'm like 36 years old and I still can't figure out my period that comes every single month.
I can't figure it out.
Every time I get it, I'm like, oh, I've, there's blood.
I went and sat on my couch and I got up and Shay was like, oh, my God.
I was like, I'm 41.
I still, I still can't figure it out.
I'll pause and lose my period before I,
figure out my beer. I'm the exact same way. You should save this for another time, but your kid
rock period story is pretty good. Oh, let's tell it right now. Okay, tell it.
So Ed and I, this is when I was out of The Bachelor, Ed and I were engaged, but we're
going through a breakup. We were kind of still talking, but it was really rocky, and I went to Nashville
for the band choice like music awards the country music uh no it was like it was like a mass
uh no it was an award it was like a big band fest or something like this oh yeah yeah yeah i know
what you're talking about um yeah it's like 600 000 cma fest yeah so we went there and we were
um actually introducing the people me and tracy were bringing people on stage like oh welcome
next tim mcgraw well like i can't believe i did that but i never really enjoyed the moment because
I was so heartbroken over Ed.
I was just like, oh, like, literally, who's the lady that is married to McGraw?
Faith Hill.
Oh, no.
Wait.
No, the other guy.
The one, the Australian, she's.
Keith Urban, Nickle Kid.
Yeah.
So Keith Urban's wife is, like, sitting right beside me.
I'm like, hey, like, I was so dependent to my, like, I could give a shit.
Who was like?
Anyway, so Tracy is like, ooh, Kit Rocks, like, looking cute.
We should go party with him later.
And I'm like, you can't just go party with Kid Rock.
Like, I'm from Peace of Alberta.
Like, how does that even happen?
She's like, watch this.
So she goes and introduces herself.
And then she's like, okay, let's go.
And I'm like, oh, my God, we're going to kids.
So we go in his van and we go to his house.
Yeah, in Nashville.
I'm like, oh, my God, I can't believe.
So I'm at Kid Rocks.
And by the way, if anybody wondered what his little townhome looks like,
it did look like my grandma's.
It had like floral wallpaper and, like, had floral, like, pillows.
Like, he's like, yeah, I wanted.
did it feel really homey. It was all like
maybe and burgundy. Like it did not look like
Kid Rock's place. It literally looked like a grandma's place.
Hilarious. Did he have a spoon collection?
A scoot collection?
You know when like grandmas have a spoon collection
on their wall? Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure.
I remember that night so vividly.
He has a brother who's got one leg
and he's like a super funny guy and we like
just chatted about like beer and politics.
It felt like I was at a peace river party.
Yeah. And actually Ryan Seacrest and
Juliana Huff had that's the night that they first like
connected they were like had met each other and we're like canoodling and i tried to say hi to julia
up and she was like oh i was like oh i guess she was like me like i did not feel comfortable there
but kid rock made me feel so comfortable and so i was sitting up on his kitchen island and he's like
do you want a beer i'm like sure and i was sitting there and i had a short little dress on and
then he's like oh you got a little something on your dread and i'm like oh my god i had my
period on Kid Rock's counter with Juliana Huff, Ryan Seacrest, all of these like famous people.
I'm like, oh my God. Oh my God. So he's like, it's okay, honey. I've got it like wipes it off
the counter. He's like there's tampons in the spare bathroom. So yeah, tampons all ready for me,
but I had to go and like scrub my dress. I was like, oh my God. And then when I was ready to go
home because I was mortified, he got a town car. He got a limo for me, paid for a driver for me
to drive me back to, because Tracy stayed there.
but anyways he paid for a limo service to take me back to my hotel like he was so nice
such a gentleman like people think like there would be drugs and like people having sex everywhere
no it felt like my mom and dad's like house party was that is so interesting because like he truly
to his core is a piece of shit because he said some terrible terrible things but it's nice to hear
oh he's he's the worst but it's oh i didn't know that but it's nice to hear that story because at least
he treated you properly after you got his period on the counter
I literally know nothing about him other than that moment.
Yeah, there you go.
I just think it's so funny because I think about confessions all the time.
And I'm like, Jill has a good one about getting her period on Kid Rock's counter.
Now everybody knows about the tampon, the sex, and now Kid Rock.
Well, you know what?
You're just getting more and more relatable to everyone.
Just what do you think you can't get more relatable?
There you go.
So we didn't really recap, but that's okay because I've had a great conversation and this has been so fun anyways.
I know.
I was like, oh, that's okay.
That's okay.
Okay. I'm going to play a little game. It's a new segment called shoulda-cuda-cuda-woulda. Okay.
Oh my God. I used to say that all the time when I was a kid. Okay. Really?
Yeah. Shoulda-kida-witta-witta. Yeah. All the time. Yeah. Okay. If you could go back to your time on The Bachelor, what would you do differently.
I wish I would have embraced it more and enjoyed it more instead of worrying about what people were going to think of me.
Oh, okay. That's a good one actually. I wish I would have taken that. I wish I would have been like,
I want more things. I want more experience. I wish I would have been more of a diva.
I've been like, and also I wish I would have started social media the second I got off the show.
I was afraid of social media. I didn't start it until like way later in the game.
And I think I could have done more with my brand. But I was afraid people would think I was doing it for the opportunity, not for a lot.
Well, I just got cheated on it anyway. So I might as well have.
Yeah, no shit.
That's a good answer. I like that.
Same thing for Bachelorette. Would you do anything different?
Oh, Bachelor and Bachelor. Oh, with Batheels. Same thing. Same thing. I just wish I would have, I wish I would have like really understood the opportunity and really enjoyed it.
Okay. Once your kids are grown up and moved out, what's the first thing you want to do when you officially have time to yourself once again?
I just love cleaning and gardening. I love it. I just love, I love, I love organizing and going out for lunch.
Oh, that sounds nice.
Yeah, going for lunch, cleaning, organizing. And I don't know, I just love, I love putting at home and, like, entertaining. I love making a house look beautiful, having people over and, like, hosting. You are the best host. You are truly, truly, the greatest host. Your house is beautiful. Everything. I just like, I feel comforted and at home when I'm just even around your presence. I don't know if that's because Alberta in us. But I love you and I'm proud of you.
