Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.
This week's grape therapy is sponsored by Geico.

Caitlin Bristow is going to answer your questions, drink to your confessions, and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor.
Let's shake it up some more.
Here's Caitlin.
Hey, everybody, welcome to Grape Therapy.
I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow.
Your session is now starting.
My guest on the podcast today is someone who is a little involved in the drama on the Bachelorette.
He may or may not be the emotional intelligence king.
Now, I'm going to let you decide that one because, you know what, he changed.
my opinion on him on this podcast. I think when you really, you know, give somebody a voice
and a platform like a podcast to say what they need to say. Your opinions might change of somebody
rather than a edited TV show. This man needs no introduction. I'm so excited to have him on
the show. There's a billion questions to ask him. We talk about whose DMs in Bachelor Nation
he's slid into, who I think he should be set up with. And he's just got a good backstory.
and I think you guys will appreciate maybe where he comes from.
I kind of clear up the people think you're condescending,
what is it really?
And he did a really great job.
So I appreciate him coming up and opening up on this podcast.
So welcome Bennett Jordan to the show today.

Now back to Off the Vine Grape Therapy.
Okay, first of all, do you get nervous to do interviews now because you're like, what the hell are
people going to ask me now? No, I think it's just kind of getting back into the swing of it.
You know, I do interviews most of the day for my work anyway. So it's, you know, nothing new and,
you know, happy to do it. Just never know what people are going to throw at you, right?
Exactly. But that's, I mean, that's my whole thing. I drink wine while I podcast. So like,
it might be easy on you in the first 20 minutes, but just give me, give me a few.
Okay. Yeah, then I'm going to break you down. I'm just kidding. Yeah, it's, I always try and take it
I mean, mostly easy on people just because this podcast for me is supposed to be like
empowering and nice and give people a chance to have their own voice.
So I wanted to do that for you too because I see social media and people can be obviously
nasty.
Going into the show, did you expect people like did you kind of know, oh, I'm going on national
television?
Like, of course people are going to troll me or be mean or did you not see this coming?
Yeah, no, I expected it.
I think that's, you know, what you sign up for.
going on a reality television show or you know being in the public eye anytime that's true okay
because i'm glad you felt that way when i went on the show i had the same attitude i was like i better
have some thick skin because people are going to love and hate me and i'm going to have to handle both
but i was thinking about it because i was reading stuff about you because that's what i do i get
creepy and do research but i was seeing how you have never really had to work for attention from girls
you just your high school girlfriend was the person you put in the most effort with did you know that you were
someone signed you up for The Bachelorette or were you like, you know what, this is, I'm going to do this
and then think you wouldn't have to fight for somebody's attention. Yeah, no, I think that's
first off a relative statement. You know, it's all, you know, it depends what you're comparing
it to in terms of fighting, right? That was just the relationship in my life where I certainly
worked the hardest out of the gates, out of the gates. But no, I signed myself up, you know.
And so I was very well aware of the, you know, competitive nature and, you know, what I was getting
into. Okay. That's good. And so was it anything like you thought it would be or was it a completely
different ballgame once you got there? You know, I think it was a lot of what I sort of expected,
you know, in terms of the competitive aspects and all the guys. I was, you know, luckily very
surprised by how much I liked a lot of the guys, you know. So that was, that was very, you know,
relieving from that standpoint. But, you know, in terms of the competitive aspects, I was absolutely,
you know it was what I anticipated yeah yeah it's always I mean I of course I always put myself in other
people's shoes because I've been there and I try and put myself back and I was mind blown when I went
on that show with just how I guess how much how many people were on the other side of it I thought I would
walk out of the limo the music would be playing there would only be Chris Harrison there and like maybe a camera guy
or maybe like a big brother style camera and like you know there's so many people when it comes to
production and producers and people walking around and camera crews and everyone and it's for me
distracting and I never really ever got used to the cameras but I wanted to know if they if you believe
they truly portrayed you like you're like that's Bennett that's me or if you felt like you watch
it back you're like oh I didn't know they're going to go that way because I know you have probably
done media training and you're under contract so you probably can't say too much but my assumption
is that sometimes producers can, you know, make entertaining TV.
And I'm always just curious if that was truly you portrayed exactly who you are,
and I'm not saying that's a bad thing,
or if that was a lot of manipulation with the production.
Yeah, no, I think we'll, you know, we can get there.
I think the easiest way to, you know, answer that is that you only see, you know,
small snippets here and there, right, of the entire production.
And so there was, you know, portions of my story, you know, who I am and everyone, for that matter, that you just don't unfortunately get to see because you only have, you know, two hours a week, you know, on the show.
Right.
So, you know, I think there's a whole other side, you know, to me and, you know, who I am, my upbringing, the things that make me, you know, tick and the reason that I am, the way that I am, you know, is certainly wasn't able to come out in full force.
but I think, you know, they took what they can and, you know, there's so many guys, right?
They have to, you know, put a show together and so you get those snippets and then you get that
impression, you know, and that portrayal, right?
I mean, it was very entertaining, but did, do you think Tasia got to really know?
I mean, of course, we didn't because, like you said, we only see snippets.
Do you feel like Tisha really got to know the real Bennett or why you are the way you are and
how you were, like, raised and what your life looked like before this?
Do you feel like she really got a chance to see that side of you or no?
Well, you know, it was tough because I never got the one-on-one opportunity.
And I thought that I was, you know, so close at so many, you know, different points.
And I think also you have to take into, you know, into consideration that there was two Bachelorette.
So you were already cut in half and everyone's time was.
So it wasn't like a traditional season where you got to spend significant time with the Bachelorette.
And so it was, you know, a big, big fight.
And I think it was tough to kind of get all of that out in the short amount of time,
you know, on group dates and such with Tasia.
So I thought that was a little unfortunate, you know, certainly.
And I think our journey could have headed a different direction.
But, you know, it is what it is.
You could get as much out there as you can during the short time that you're, you know,
awarding.
If this makes you feel better, you don't ever get a significant amount of time with the
Bachelorette.
Fair enough.
Really get the time.
Like even for myself who got engaged out of it, I was like,
what's your middle name like you just don't ever get that significant amount of time you
know because you were there but it's always like if you're on camera that's the only time
you can you know really see her it's not like you can go off and have a coffee or continue a
conversation it's like you get this one short little blip of time and then you're pulled out
by a producer or by the next person that wants to come in and talk and it's so hard to get anywhere
with anyone in these situations and it really does take up to the fantasy suite to be like
okay now who are you and like what are you about yeah
to have those kinds of conversations.
So it's unfortunate that, you know,
so many people have to leave
and everyone feels robbed of time on that show
because you really are.
But I wanted to know more about who really Bennett
is that we didn't get to see.
So tell me what you wish people saw on the show
that they didn't get to see from you.
Like, what does your everyday look like?
Who is Bennett?
Sure, sure.
You know, I think your people are,
you know, their characters are a culmination.
of, you know, their experiences, right? And so you got to see some, some glamour and glitz
and ridiculousness with my, you know, attire and the Rolls-Royce and, you know, moments here and there,
but you certainly didn't get into, you know, my upbringing, you know, my every, you know,
day sort of, you know, here in New York, what I do, you know, for a living, it's even that has been,
you know, poorly misconstrue, but that's okay. Um, wealth management consultant, what does that
really mean, you know? I was going to ask you. Exactly. So I'm not, you know, a financial advisor.
or I'm not picking stocks.
You know, I was a former banker and got away from having to sit behind the Excel spreadsheet.
And now I work on the people's side of the business where I help, you know, grow firms.
I help improve firms.
I do recruiting.
I do a little bit of, you know, M&A.
I do some management consulting projects and things of that nature.
But it's always on the human capital side.
So I'm not, you know, doing the due diligence and banging out numbers and valuating companies.
But, you know, I think from, you know, this sort of,
things that I wish, you know, had hopefully been able to come out. Um, you know, I have a very
heartfelt, you know, story and, uh, you know, a childhood and upbringing that I think is,
you know, quite different than people's, you know, conceptions of that based on what they've
seen, which I can't, you know, blame them, right? Um, you know, I came from a very modest background
growing up. Um, you know, my, uh, family was certainly, you know, not well off by any means.
I always grew up going to private school, at least through middle school and middle school, but I was always on serious, you know, financial aid.
You know, I can remember mornings as a child in elementary school where, you know, I was counting pennies to come up with a dollar for public school lunch.
That's what it cost back in the day.
You know, I also had a family, you know, bringing my dad was emotionally and physically, you know, abusive.
It's a, you know, sort of very, very heartfelt, you know, tough, tough story.
But, you know, he is a narcissist.
He's a bipolar.
He's, you know, chronically depressed, hypoglyphemic, has dementia, PTSD from, you know, his military experience.
So when you see and hear little snippets about Bennett taking emotional intelligence very seriously,
it's very genuine and heartfelt.
It's not something that comes natural to people.
It's not something that I grew up with,
you know, and half overnight.
I don't think it is with anyone.
I think it is something that you develop over time.
And for me, it's something that I really value
and put a lot of, you know, thought into.
And I simply brought, you know, the book that I brought onto the set
because I think it's something good to reiterate.
And I'd read the book three times already
and was reading it again because I knew that it was such a,
you know, pressure cooker of a situation
where you need to be aware of.
you know, all of those components.
So, you know, and, you know, another one, my, my dad was actually homeless while I was at
Harvard and not many people can, you know, say things like that.
And just knowing that and going through, you know, sort of life in college and my high school,
you know, with that being such a major part of my family and my upbringing, it really does,
you know, make, you know, me who I am today and the heart, you know, inside to be able to,
you know, go out and put your best foot forward and throw on a big smile and have fun with
your friends and enjoy life and, you know, live it to the most and pursue, you know, love and
professional, you know, success and all those great things. That's really incredible. And I'm sure
you've talked about this before on other interviews or podcasts. I'm not sure. But that's so fascinating
to me because there's so many skeptics out there. And people, of course, think they know you from
a show where it's you know edited and produced and it's there for everybody's entertainment but
everyone probably thought you know that was just a producer move he brought the book like a producer
brought the book made you give it to somebody but if people knew that backstory which eventually
probably i'm sure you would have shared with tasha then people would have understood why you have
that book why you yourself read that book why you have like okay for example i'm such a nerd over like
enneagrams and love languages. And I read those books like all the time over and over again. And that's
one of my main topics of conversation with people is like, well, what number are you on the
enneagram? And then I can understand relationships and how people function and how they work and what
their strengths and weaknesses are. And that's just a different book for you of what you have learned
and taken away from the book and part of a conversation that you're wanting to have with somebody
to get to know them better or like give them some insight of how you feel on your side of things.
So it's so interesting.
This is why I love doing podcasts because you get the chance to actually have these kinds of conversations with people rather than just judging them on TV, which is obviously easy to do.
We're going to take a quick break.
I'm on Zoom right now.
I've basically been living on Zoom and FaceTime lately, probably like every other person out there.
The other day I was having a little chat with one of my buddies from back home, having a little virtual happy hour.
We're cute like that.
He is a big beer guy and he was drinking to Coors Light on the call.
it inspired me to ask Jason to grab me a Coors Light.
Of course he got one for himself too.
And joined us.
Coors has been bringing people together for years.
And seriously, who doesn't love a sip of Coors Light?
It's very refreshing, delicious, and the perfect beverage to choose when it's time to just
lay back and relax.
It's the only beer that's literally made to chill.
The mountains on the can turn blue when your beer is as cold as the Rockies and ready to drink,
which I think is really cool.
It's cool.
It's cold.
But really, I love the style of the cans.
So when you want to reset, reach for the beer.
That's made to chill.
It's the one I choose when I want to unwind.
Let me tell you it has definitely helped me de-stress during the holiday season.

Coors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado.
All right, wait, I have to tell you guys something.
So the other day, I was wearing the cutest new white shirt, feeling great about it.
Next thing you know, spilled on myself.
Way to go, Caitlin.
But seriously, I had to throw this white shirt in the trash because I couldn't get the stain out of it no matter what I tried.
That is until I tried OxyClean White Revive.
OxyClean White Revive revives your dingy whites, bringing them back to brilliant and bright,
and it's safe on colors too.
This is a serious game changer.
It has 40% more whitening power than chlorine bleach per load without any of the negatives
that come along with using chlorine bleach.
It can save those items you thought were ruined and heading for the trash.
I've had it happened to me on more than one occasion.
You've got to try OxyClean White Revive, Laundry, Whitener, and Stain Remover.
for yourself. To work your magic with OxyClean, go to OxyClean.com slash try me and order a
free sample. That's OxyClean.com slash T-R-Y-M-E for a free stain fighting sample while
supplies last. This is Austin Vine, Grape Therapy. But did you ever watch the show before this?
Very, very briefly. So I didn't, you know, I watched a couple of, as soon as I
hit submit on the application, I decided it was time to do the due diligence and, you know,
very quickly watched a couple of seasons. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, that's good. And then I was thinking
about if, because I feel like, okay, for me personally and what I talk about a lot on the podcast
is mental health and things that I struggle with or why I am the way I am. And I find that Claire
is like a very deep person with those kinds of feelings, who I feel like you could have maybe
had those conversations with quicker than Tasia, but you seemed more drawn to Tasha.
What would have this looked like for you if Claire stayed as the Bachelorette?
Oh, that's a very interesting question. I've never thought about that.
You know, I felt like it was such a polarizing, you know, attraction, of course, with Dale.
It's tough to sort of say, but I think that the feelings, you know, you're in this hyper-focused
environment where you're very much, you know, thinking and every, every ounce of energy is going
into the Bachelorette. And, you know, I think I was probably the only, I honestly think I was the
only person that was journaling, you know, on my, you know, season, which I know, that was a big thing
with contestants in the past, but it was something that I took, you know, I still have my journal
right here. I, like, still write notes in it. I look back sometimes laughing at what I said,
but yeah, journaling was so important. Me too, and just getting that out. So, you know, that was
something that I look back and, you know, can compare the, uh, the Claire days and the Tasha days.
Yeah.
I think, uh, you know, I think Claire, as we sort of, you know, got on there further in the episode,
or excuse me, further in the season, very much could have been a different story.
And, you know, I think that there is certainly, you know, some great things about Claire.
I think it was a tough, you know, journey for a lot of us with her, but it's just, it's tough
to sort of speculate, you know, really that's my best answer.
It's tough to speculate how that would have gone.
but it was a very refreshing, you know, new light when Tatia walked in that door and, you know,
grabbed her and just sort of immediately it was new life, you know, for all of us and just immediate
attraction and that energy that she has is super contagious and just, you know, I think coming off
of Claire where we weren't getting that, you know, that attention to where we felt we had like
we had a really, you know, solid chance with her. It was the polar opposite with Tasia.
Right. Yeah, that's a good point. I, again, put myself in this situation because on
my season there actually was two bachelorets but it was a different setup like it was two bachelors
one night the guys had to decide who they wanted as the bachelorette and then we went from there but
i had to go through the season think you know having guys that were actually there for brit who was the
other bacheloret and i had to go through and some of those guys ended up being in my final four
and it just goes to show that you just never know you know what what conversations can be had that would
lead you in a different direction and that's what i was thinking with you and tasha with you and clare
like if you had those those chances that chance to have those kinds of conversations just
would things look differently and i wanted to you to walk me through kind of the the leaving
and coming back like what to me i found that was so crazy that you had to stand through a rose
ceremony if she knew she wasn't going to keep you around were you feeling like in that moment
because you left and then i'm trying to walk myself through it but i'm going to let you uh you left
and then decided to come back um how did that look behind the scenes
Yeah. You know, I can't, you know, disclose too much behind the scenes stuff, right? You know, as I said, you know, in the episode, I did get a note from Tasia, right? And so I went to see her, you know, and that in and of itself is very tough, you know, and you just had someone break up with you. You were sent home and you stayed around and, you know, basically wanted to go express myself and put those feelings out there that I hadn't really been able to. There was moments where I was close to telling her.
that I was beginning to fall in love with her after the evening on the pool.
And we talked about, you know, my former fiancé and her, you know, prior marriage.
And that really, that moment really, really, really hit me, you know,
especially coming off of the fake proposal with the big rings and the habaneros.
Yeah.
But I didn't get to say that in that moment.
I think I said it, you know, perhaps in an interview,
but didn't get to share it with her.
And obviously, that's all that matters.
And so I wanted to go and tell her.
And it really, you know, those feelings compounded.
And it was when I had everything, you know, taken away and felt like I got into this, you know, drama on this two on one that, you know, was just out of my hands.
I felt like I could have put my best foot forward had I been on a real one-on-one and just had the attention of the bachelorette to be able to actually talk about the feelings and where we were going.
And that's all I had been doing up into that point, you know, fast forward a little bit.
you get sent home and it was a lot to go and tell her, you know, that these feelings had
become, you know, very, very, very real. And so I went and told her, you know, that I do love her.
And put myself out there. I think I wouldn't do it, you know, any other way. I do it again.
I think it's, you know, tough for a lot of men to go and share feelings like that, especially when
they've been dumped, that's for sure. And, you know, she wrote me the note and says,
that, you know, my word's been a lot to her. She'd love, you know, she doesn't want our
journey to end this way and would love for me to come to the cocktail party. And so that's what I
did. And as you can imagine, I was going into that cocktail party feeling pretty good, feeling
pretty confident. And, you know, I didn't want her relationship to end either. And that's what
I'd just been told from Tasia. But then the cocktail party was cut and, you know, I was on my way
home again. Now, I watched the men tell all, but I'm not remembering. Were you able to ask her
why? Because if that, obviously that cocktail party to you was obviously like something that was
going to mean a lot to you because that was going to be just another conversation, which every
conversation counts so much in that world. Do you think things could have been different or did you
ask her why you had to go through the rose ceremony and she couldn't pull you aside? Or did you get
the chance to ask that? Yeah, no, absolutely. Of course I did. You know, I've been thinking about it for months
and, you know, asked her and basically, you know, the answer was, you know, Bennett, because she'd even
said these words, you know, everything had been so natural and easy and right with me. You know,
I asked her coming off about how, you know, why did you just bring it back to send me home, you know,
again without, you know, any sort of discussion. And basically her answer was that, you know,
she thought that I was, you know, the type of person that she could see herself with. But
her other relationships were just further along and i and i understand that you know and that comes back
to what we began our podcast here talking about you know that time and you don't you know always get it
and it's unfortunate and and our other relationships were further along and i i can't you know judge her
hate her for that i i respect it and understand um but you know it was a little little sad that we were
cut short there yeah it is tough because i i know i remember and everyone that listens to this podcast
knows, but I knew for sure who two people were going to be when I came out of that or when
people came out of the limo. I was like, there's two top two guys here for sure. But so many of
them surprised me. And that's why when things happen where they're like, oh, we didn't get a
cocktail party. And I'm always sitting at home as if you were going, oh, my God, did you really
think that one cocktail party is going to change her? And then I think about it. And I'm like,
it actually could. It actually could. And certain conversations do change the path of your
So I'm like, it's so hard to not watch as a judgmental viewer since I've like a little bit removed. But then I put myself back in the situation and I'm like, no, you really can change your opinion or who your final four are just based on a couple short conversations and that connection. So it's frustrating. I know. Who do you think of the four men left are best suited for Tasia? I don't know. I don't know spoilers. I don't know if you do. But whatever you think, who do you think is the best suited for Tasia?
at this point. Sure. You know, I really think, well, I think the world of all four of those guys,
I really genuinely like all four of them. I think they're strong, you know, men of a very good
character. I particularly, um, feel as though, you know, Zach and Ben, um, are probably the two
that I think are probably the, uh, front runners in my mind for, for Tach's heart. You know,
I think there's always questions with, with all, everyone and anyone.
you know um and i think they both have their own quirks and probably their own you know backstores
and drama and things that you know even i certainly don't know um but i think they're both you know
two upstanding gentlemen and i think very very highly of them i know they've had some serious life
experiences and i think you know any any woman would be lucky to happen yeah oh that's awesome wait i
obviously wanted to talk about joseph i don't really want to talk about him because of like
I don't want to even acknowledge his behavior, but at the same time, I'm like such a feminist and don't want to let him get away with that kind of shit.
And I know that you weren't obviously having that either and the way he was treating anybody.
But how the hell could he sit up there and defend his behavior, watching it back, and then say if his daughter did something like that, she would deserve to be speak to like that?
How did you guys not all get up and punch him right in the throat?
I know.
It was a tough one.
I was pretty shocked by his candor, you know, and his conviction and his, his actions and the way that he went about things.
I even tried to sort of set him up there for a moment to say, well, you know, perhaps what I was trying to say was one thing and the way that it came out was, you know, another, right?
And he just stuck with his guns.
It was unbelievable.
And then Chris piggybacked off that and said, hold on, let me help you, you know, help me help you.
Right.
you know, the classic Jerry McGuire.
But, you know, it was shocking.
And there was no, you know, as you can see on the Bachelorette, you know,
Instagram, Yosef wasn't there in that big group photo with us all, you know,
afterwards, right?
He was off on his own.
And we didn't see him.
You know, I don't think there was any of us that were, you know, super psyched to see
Yosef after that.
And it was just an unbelievable statement in the way that he sort of went about it.
I think he's a very strong-minded guy, and I feel, you know, badly for Yosef's daughter and,
and, you know, the way he sort of put things out there, she'll have to re-watch this and, you know,
her friends will, you know, her future husband, fiance, whatever it may be, we'll certainly
see this. And it's a really tough one. It's a tough look. You know, I feel badly for the guy,
but, you know, he's a strong-minded, you know, individual and is entitled to his own opinion,
I guess. I don't like to say that I feel bad for him.
But I do. I really do because you're like, what happened in your life that has led you in this direction to be that much of a pig? Like what happened to you? And then you know it was probably something traumatic. So you're like, let's take, like, let's cut to the core. There's always the root of the problem. Like, what is it? So we can all understand. Yeah. Even still, though, he did talk about his daughter so much and so so much, you know, on the show with us. And to go and say that you had hope and win.
that someone would be the same way to her was just unbelievable it's like the word that just kept
coming up to me was i just kept being like that's disgusting like just disgusting behavior and words and
like chris harrison said he never does that but he was like dude you have an opportunity here
to not be like the worst person on the planet and he was like no i think i'm going to stick to being
the worst person on the planet yeah i'm good with that i'm going to choose that fat yeah yeah so ridiculous yeah
because I actually was going to ask you, too, there's quite a few guys missing from that mental
which was so unfortunate because, I mean, that's part of the fun.
Part of the fun to me is watching the audience hilarious reaction when guys get put in the
hot seat and when they talk and everything.
But obviously the times were, and you couldn't do that.
But there's a lot of guys missing.
Was that because of just everything that's going on in the world?
COVID, I think, you know, it was a unique situation with the season, right?
I think it was just probably constraints of the environment and,
the way we were kind of set up there so yeah i mean i think that's the best easiest answer there yeah i think
so too i genuinely just had to pause this podcast because my doorbell rang it's doorbell season
busiest time of the year for your front step and deliveries it's actually insane i have packages
coming to the house a lot and sometimes i honestly don't even remember what i'm getting or when my bad

You're listening to Off the Vine Race Therapy.
Okay, I can feel it.
Like, even behind the scenes or like something funny that happened that we wouldn't have seen on TV anything.
But the game here is simple.
I just want to ask you some made-up hypothetical questions, if you will, and see where we end up.
Okay.
If you were asked to be The Bachelor in an upcoming season, would you do it?
I would do it immediately.
Yes.
How many people reach out to you?
And I know there's skeptics out there, but how many people say Bennett for Baxter?
bachelor there's a lot yeah there is i've seen it yeah no it's it's it's it's a lot um there's
there's there's you know some some fan clubs and plenty of comments and likes and stuff there's
haters out there too don't get me wrong but um you know there there's a lot of that yeah
yeah it's it's it's tough um i just find like it's tough in the world right now to do
you can't please everybody obviously but especially in these times it's so
hard to please people. I hope you don't like move forward thinking that you have to please people.
I don't think you're a people pleaser. But I kind of thought that way when I first came out
the show. I'm like I actually am a people pleaser. That's all like I really want to please people.
And you know, I'm like a cancer and a peacemaker by nature of kind of growing up in a, you know,
broken home situation. I was always the kid in between that was like, you know, please stop.
So that really actually is me, you know. Yeah. So do you think it's like such, you know, you
Yeah. I like that. I feel like it's a misunderstanding. You're misunderstood where people are like he's being condescending or something where your intentions are probably actually coming from a good place.
Yeah, absolutely. I was, yeah, trying to be very, very serious. And it's also one of the things I, I know that people, you know, see me walk in, you know, in my suit or a ridiculous scar for whatever it may be, right? And they're like, I want to hit this guy square in the jaw. And I am the guy that,
gets that immediately when I walk into a barro restaurant all the time. And then, you know, usually
by the end of the conversation, guys are like, this guy's the man. I love this guy, you know,
and it's like turns full circle. But like you said, you can't win them all. Can't please.
And, you know, if I try to spend my days and nights, you know, trying to do that, I'd never get
you sleep. People see you and they're like, I want to punch that guy right in that beautiful,
beautiful jaw line. Hell of, yeah, exactly. It's like a little bit of, like, jealousy under there.
Every day. Every day. Yeah. Okay. What about Bachelor in Paradise? Will, could we see you on Bachelor
and Paradise? I don't, I don't think Bachelor in Paradise is in the cards for me. I think I kind of
learned from this experience in the sense that, you know, I'm very, very, very sensitive to the
negativity and the drama. It's not something that I enjoy. Like I, you know, just said to you,
I'm a peacemaker. And I don't really see the value, you know, add for me to go play around on the beach.
have more continued drama with, you know, other guys. I'm really, really ready to have kids
and family. And so, you know, I don't see that being a huge, you know, value add for me finding
a relationship. But let me play devil's advocate here for a second. Because there are people
who have gone on and literally just are drawn to somebody immediately. There's no drama. They
fall in love. And so many people have come out of it married with kids. I know. I know. It's wild.
I think, you know, you have to think about Bachelor Nation,
and there's a lot of great girls out there, that's for sure.
Yeah.
I just don't, you know, as I think about it, I don't,
I'm trying to think of the past seasons,
and it was to start contrast in between our season
and, you know, the age, you know, I know age is just a number,
but I think, you know, 10 years is about, I think,
as far as I could imagine, you know, going, right?
11 at the most, but, you know, I just, I don't know.
I don't know that it would be the decision, you know, that would put me in the most successful
seat for finding a love and, you know, a mother of my children and all those things.
And again, I just, honestly, I'd rather focus on, you know, myself and relationships that I think
are, you know, going to take off.
So, I don't know.
Yeah. No, I feel that.
But again, this is hypothetical.
So let's say you did, or you've become the bachelor, and there are women from past seasons who could come on.
Do you have, like, three girls that come to mind that you're like from other seasons where you're like, hmm.
Now you're putting me in the hot seat.
Jesus.
Yeah.
Jesus.
Oh, man.
I don't even know if I can see this.
What?
Yes, you can.
Yeah, you're making me, like, blush.
I just turned a shade of color.
Like, now I'm pink.
You're going to flatter a few girls.
You're going to.
flatter a few girls that's it all right um you know when i got off the show and i got my phone back
yeah i immediately deemed tasha yeah and was you know a heartfelt you know question just asking what
literally what i said in the mental all pretty much you know what that was all about that was really
hurtful. I don't, didn't get it, don't understand it. Maybe things were out of my hand, you know,
like I just obviously have no idea what's going on with the other relationships, of course, right,
you know, and take that with a grain of salt and be humble about it. It's totally reasonable that,
you know, like I said, in the mental all, she just wasn't that into me, you know. And it was a few
days, you know, days later that I sort of, you know, kind of got, I was like, well, that is,
that is absolutely, you know, done. It was about a week or so later. Um,
I shot one more shot because I was in the area and thought, you know, I'm not going to be in L.A. very long.
And this is a girl who I thought from a background standpoint would make a lot of sense for me to meet.
And that was Andy Dorfman.
Oh, yeah.
I love her.
Reached out to Andy and, you know, definitely didn't hear anything back.
Did she see it and then not respond?
No, there was never a scene notification, but I haven't gone back and checked in, you know, months and months now.
But, you know, I shut that shot because they're both from Atlanta.
She used to live here in New York, just a few blocks, you know, south of me.
And I actually grew up playing basketball with her ex in Atlanta.
And no, you know, no, I just feel like there's, she's from Dunwoody.
That's where my high school in Atlanta was from.
So there's a lot of, you know, synergies there.
I thought we'd have some common ground and it would at least be an interesting person.
I can picture this?
You need, I need, can I say something to her because she's one of my good friends.
and I want to be like, check your DMs, because I could actually see you two going on a date.
Hey, you know, I wouldn't say no.
Okay, because guess what?
I have a matchmaking background, and there was a girl who was, she won a contest to come on my podcast,
and we ended up becoming friends.
And then her name was Blair, and I did a whole podcast called The Blairette.
And I actually found her guy, they're married now and trying for a baby.
Wow.
That's pretty impressive.
That's very cool.
So you know that my skills are legit.
So when I say I can see you guys going on a date, I actually think I could.
That's awesome.
Well, you know, think about it.
And, you know, I'll leave it in your hands.
I'm certainly not shooting any more shots, Andy's way.
I'm not marinating.
I'm getting on this right now.
The soon as we hang up.
Oh, my gosh.
Yes, I love Andy.
Great pick.
Okay, was there another one?
I said top three, but we can stop there if you want.
No, let's leave it at that.
Okay.
Believe it at that.
Sounds good.
And not sure if this is on your radar,
but lots of the people from the franchise
sort of become influencers after this.
So what brands, hypothetically,
would you be like,
that's who I want to work with?
Oh, wow.
That's a good one.
Because you never know.
Somebody could be working for the brand
that listens to the podcast.
We could make connections here.
There you go.
You know, so I honestly, I really like Claren.
and, you know, I could take it into their competitors there.
I think, you know, there's, you know, Limer and Chesito are both great companies.
And I have some of their products.
I love their products.
I also love Louropiana.
Who doesn't love?
It's like a very fancy cashmere line and, you know, it's like top of the line stuff.
You see me?
I look like I'm like an eighth grader skater boy.
You have a good.
I'm not even kidding.
April Levine right now.
Oh, I love it.
Wine night.
Target.
I love it.
I love it.
1299.
It's okay.
I'm wearing Dartmouth boxers on under here.
It's like my dream for an ad brand would be like, would be like Walmart or Target.
I'm like, yeah.
That's my dream.
I like that.
I like that.
Um, you know, there's, there's been.
things, you know, reaching out right and then we can't do anything, you know, yet. I kind of want to be
thoughtful and selective. I did talk to Jason, it was super, super helpful and sweet and really, really,
you know, great to give me a little guidance there and I'll hopefully talk to him again soon. But,
you know, I'm digesting on all of that, taking it all in. And I certainly, you know, I'm very,
very open to it and always happy to be commercial. So we'll see. We'll see. It's a great platform to
have. I'm not going to lie. You'll love it. And you should, you could even start your own
skincare brand or underwear line or something like that. Be a little entrepreneur on the side.
Exactly. If you could go on a date with any celebrity, who would it be?
I don't even think like that, you know. I know. Neither do I. That's why it's hypotheticals
because I'd be like, oh, sure, Brad Pitt, hypothetically sure. Yeah, I mean, I think like that too,
you know, but going back to like a childhood crush, it would be Penelope Cruz or, or, or,
someone like that. I've always had a thing for either Latina, you know, women or partially Asian or Asian, you know, women. That's kind of been, you know, my thing. But I'm not opposed to the all American girl either. You just like it all. You just like women. No, I mean, no. Honestly, if you, you know, kind of looked at my track record, it's been more either, you know, half Asian or Asian girls or Latinas, you know, to some.
degree or another. Penelope Cruz is a good one. That's, she's, she's top notch. She is top notch. She's up
there. Okay. And my last one and my favorite hypothetical, if you and Noah were forced to spend the
day together, what would you do? We would drink a lot of whiskey. Okay. We would ride horses.
Okay. This is very specific. Well, we empathized on, you know, he's, he kind of grew up running
horses and I was a cowboy on a ranch one summer in Wyoming, you know, during college.
You know, we talked about that when, when Brendan got the horseback riding date and how jealous
we were and kind of, you know, had a little moment there. And that was part of the red bandana,
you know, and the gift was, you know, no bad blood. Maybe we drink as much and, you know,
ride horses when we get out of here. So I think it would be something of that nature. And then hopefully,
you know, we'd meet up with some of the other guys or something like.
that and have a night. That sounds really pleasant. Have you talked to him? Are you guys fine?
We've talked, yeah. I owe him a response to his text message today. But, you know, I, yeah,
we've talked. We're in touch here and there. That's good. I feel like, I feel like at the end of the
day, when you kind of remove yourself from that show, you're like, okay, that was kind of silly.
Like maybe we wouldn't be boys in real life, but you can get past though, you know, like. Yeah,
have a bond. That's for sure. You definitely have a bond. And again, you know, I have no ill will towards
Noah, you know, whatsoever. That's great. I have one last thing because it just came to me right now
when you said you were on a ranch in Wyoming riding horses for a year. Have you heard of
Holly from Big Brother? No. Okay. I think I might make another match here. Okay. So Holly was on two
seasons ago, you know the show
Big Brother? Yeah. Hey, you're both
coming from reality TV
world. She's freaking beautiful.
Her name's Holly Allen. She's very
down to earth normal. She lives
in Wyoming. She
rides horses. She's also a
Somali. She's... I think
she's slid into mine already.
Seriously?
I think
she was doing it for a friend.
Oh.
and had someone that she would, but yeah, I call suspect on that too, especially after the suspect, for sure.
Does she know you ride horses in Wyoming?
Was that on the show?
No, no, I don't think so.
But, you know, I appreciate the subtlety of her game by thinking, oh, I've got someone, you know,
and it kind of sets me up to say, oh, but what about you?
You know, something like that.
Wait, that's so true because you know when people make jokes and they're like, oh, yeah,
asking for a friend.
That's what she was doing.
Right, right, exactly.
And I kind of just deflected, and I think I kind of gave a standard, you know, response.
All this stuff is new.
All the, you know, D-Ns and everything.
It's all new to me.
I'm just trying to stay the straight and narrow and not get, you know, myself into trouble.
That's for sure.
Look, I don't know.
I mean, when I first started talking to Jason, he was out partying with Blake every single night.
He was like, these girls are so hot because we were friends at first.
And I was like, dude, settle down.
And he's like, it's hard to.
He's going to hate me for saying that.
But it is hard to, you know, because it's a new thing.
It's fun, especially in this time, like talking to somebody online is probably like
seems very exciting right now because it's not like you can hang out too much with people.
But anyways, I, this is why I love this podcast is because there's so many times that people
have a certain opinion of somebody and then I get to chat with them and you realize that
they're just, you know, they have a background that you aren't aware of, that you get to know
the person actually and then you're like you're freaking great and you're great and i never
disliked you the whole time i just you were easy to like you were the entertainment on the show it was
easy to be like it's easy to hate the new york harvard guy that's for sure never hated you i never
anybody but um it was so glad um it was so glad my wine's kicking in it was so nice to talk to you
and and hear your story and who you are and i hope you continue to just you know show the real bennett
because now you have your own platform to do so
and tell your own story
and have your own voice. So I think that's great.
I will be Team Bennett for Bachelor
after this podcast. Oh, thank you
so much. That means the world.
First thing I saw when I got home over Thanksgiving
was you winning and congratulations
on the dancing star. I'd like to cut a rug myself
every now and then, so big props.
Well, you know what? In our future, we will have a dance off.
There you go. There you go. That will be when we meet in person.
So I'll bring Jason. He's a good dancer too.
Check out my highlight. I couldn't add it to my story, but I added my first highlight. It really, you know,
took a lot out of me to put myself dancing on the internet, but it's out there now on my
Instagram. Check it out. I'm going to go do that right now. Is there anything else you wanted to say
that I missed or anything else that? No, I think that was fantastic. It was a pleasure. I was,
you know, great to speak with you. I hope to, you know, give you a call and FaceTime with you and Jason
sometime soon. Yeah, absolutely. We're here for you. Anytime. I appreciate it. Thank you.
Okay, thanks, Bennett. Bye.
See you, Caitlin.
