Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing pride and prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.

Who's on with OTV?
Podcast One presents Off the Vine, Great Therapy.
Caitlin Bristow's going to answer your question, drink to your confessions, and hear what you
have to say about anything Bachelor.
Let's shake it up some more.
Here's Caitlin.
All right, Bachelor Nation, and even just Finos, who don't even watch The Bachelor, this is a good interview.
Welcome to Grape Therapy.
Today on the podcast, we have a very special guest.
He is known as the soft-spoken engineer from this season of The Bachelorette that so many fans fell in love with.
And after speaking with him, I can tell you he deserves every bit of that love.
We talk about how he grew up, what makes his family so close.
And were there any long-lasting effects?
from the ice path.
Actually, I didn't know if we got to that.
Shit.
We talked about so many things.
If there's love in the air for him now, who he'd be interested in paradise, what the
whole religion block was there when she brought that up.
If he was blindsided or if he saw it coming, Jason joins me and has a couple real good
questions that just blow this podcast out of the water.
Yeah, I mean, we get into the weeds.
We drill down about the fantasy suite.
Did he expect it?
Was there a way to make it work?
and how he was brought up, you know, what religion meant to him as a child and what it
means to him now and how he, I would say, broke the blueprint for Bachelor Nation in not
one way, but many ways. Yeah, I agree. And does he think Tasha and Zach are still together?
We couldn't be happier than to have Mr. Ivan Hall along for this podcast.
Woo! So your session is now starting. All right, Binos, do you own or rent your own home?

All right, let's be honest for a minute here. Most workouts, not that exciting. But there really
is something pretty exciting about learning something new, like boxing and kickboxing. I'm such a fan.
That's exactly why people are saying that fight camp is the only workout they've stuck with.
I really do enjoy doing some boxing myself.
I'm sure you guys have seen me a time or two on Instagram and in the old ring doing my best.
I'm actually not that good, but I love it.
And nowadays, it's a lot harder to get to the gym.

First of all, thank you so much for doing this podcast.
because like we were just saying your phone is going nuts right now it's literally the finale night
we saw you go home people are losing their noodle everybody loves ivan you've been a fan favorite
for so long so thank you for taking the time to do this podcast with us um usually it's just me
but i brought my little co-pilot jason tardick along here because we both are fans of you
that's my boy my friends are my friends are fans of both of you guys so thanks for having to see this
yeah it's so good to meet you um again crazy day crazy night how are you feeling just
in general. Oh, man. I feel a sense of relief, honestly. You know, thinking back to everything,
the one thing that I had the most anxiety about, honestly, was that ending a little bit and how people
would receive that. And, you know, there's just a lot of questions right now, so we'll see what
happens. But I did assume to get some backlash, just knowing the demographic of Bachelors Nation
and whatnot, to be honest. But yeah, it's a, I honestly just feel relief that it's all over,
though, too. It's a wild ride, and it's crazy to see yourself on TV. And,
relive all those emotions for sure it's it's so much putting yourself out there like that especially for
people who literally it's not like you went to acting school it's not like it was your like thing to work
your whole life to be on tv you've got this whole career going for yourself you live in texas am i right
yeah Dallas yeah yeah Dallas and so you go on the show thinking ah what are the chances you know
it's an opportunity it's something fun you can do not realizing the amount of i mean not just pressure
but overnight fame, everything that comes along with the outside voices, everyone having an
opinion. But you've got to know that you are one of the most loved people on the show. You have
been like so consistent the whole season. You've been very well spoken. You've talked about important
things and you went out with class. So you've got to feel good about that. No, thank you. And I really
appreciate that. And no, I definitely feel the love for sure. My DMs, there's been some like very
heartwarming stuff sent my way. And I love that. And it just brightens up my day, honestly. And
Yeah, going into it all, I just knew that I wanted to be myself fully throughout the
whole process. I wasn't going to be fake. I wasn't going to do anything just to get TV time
at all. And honestly, I understand it's a TV show and I was fine with other guys doing that.
Just don't involve me in it. Like, that's where it's where it stops for me. Like,
I'll kill that real quick. So I just wanted to be myself and focus on, you know, building a
relationship, really. That was my priority. And then it was great to also make a lot of friendships
too. Did you ever think knowing that that maybe there might have been at a time that you would
have gone home early because like you just were like, I'm not going to be myself and I'm not
going to kind of jump into that. And I asked that because I thought week two, I kind of had the
same attitude. I was like, one thing I'm going to do is leave this whole journey knowing I was
myself. And by week two, I thought I was going home. Oh, for sure. And we got down to 16 or 17
of us with Claire. I thought I was gone. I thought I was gone. Like, it was a wrap. I was like, I'm not about
to do anything crazy here. I don't think anybody's really building a relationship other than a few
people. I was like, I wouldn't be surprised if it's me. I think I was just like being kind of kept
along just because, um, and compare just comparing myself to other guys like, you know, I'm slightly
better maybe or whatever else. But, um, yeah, I totally thought I was leaving. But honestly,
once Tasia came along, um, I said it from night one. I was like, I'm going to be here for the long
haul. And I, and I really knew I would at least make the top four. Um, I didn't know much about her at all,
though. But I knew we, I just felt instantly that we would have a good connection and that
we'd be able to explore to see if things would work out for sure. That's even better almost
that you didn't know and that you didn't have these expectations and it was just a real
genuine connection between the two of you. I wanted to know what you thought would happen
if Claire did stay and be the bachelor at the whole time. Do you feel like you would have went home
earlier? Yeah, I would have left. I would have left on that next row ceremony or the row ceremony
after that. Fun story, funny story. Damar was my roommate. And, you know, before everything went down
with Claire, I think it were 16 or 17 of us. Me and him both wore all black to that next,
for that next road ceremony, because we thought it was our funeral and we thought we were out of there.
So we were both like, this is good note of your roommate. We're about to be out of here. Let's just
wear all black. So if you look back at it, it's really funny that we did that because I didn't
have any faith at that point, to be honest. And Claire, you know, she gets a bad rap, but she was always
very nice to me, and I really appreciated her for that. And she's a great listener. So,
She is. She's an absolute doll. It was just like she had eyes on the prize. She knew who she wanted. And, you know, you got to have that experience and then meet someone you had a genuine connection with. But I was wondering because I know everybody's going to ask you the same questions. And I've got to be that person too. We will get into the religion, talk a little bit later. But what was it that sparked that initial attraction between you and Tasia? What was it for you that you were like, oh, I'm here for the long haul?
Um, it was definitely just taceous energy. And, um, I feel like I've, I've dated all girls of like a ton of girls across the spectrum and whatnot. But she probably like mostly falls in line with like what I've majority of dated. Um, and she just had like a real bubbly, lively personality. And I felt like I kind of already knew her, um, just off of our first conversation. And, um, I knew there was a lot there between the two of us and, um, that we were both excited just to explore what we could, what we can find out about each other.
So, yeah, it was mostly her energy.
She just came in, like, dancing, and we were all like, oh, man, this is crazy.
And she's beautiful.
So, yeah, she's stunning.
That was one of my first impressions of Tasha when I went on a girl's trip with her to Napa.
And I was like, yes, this girl.
Her energy is electric.
She is so bubbly, so fun, so genuine, happy.
We dance till, like, five in the morning.
She's just not to rub it in of how great you are.
I don't know what I mean.
I have a quick question.
worry actually because I was it's right in the same position of they didn't announce the
bachelorette so I'm curious from your standpoint you know that Claire leaves and I'm going to
kick myself if Caitlin has this question prepared but just came off top of my mind but you know
Claire leaves yeah and then you know there's going to be a replacement bachelorette you
maybe you've watched the show maybe you haven't but I'm more curious who are like some of the
people you were hoping it would have been would not have been would have would have been would have been
So I will say, okay, I'll say this.
I didn't know Tasha at all, but I do remember when they were casting for The Bachelorette.
There was like a short list of like all these rumors and stuff.
And I was actually cast it for Claire's season before I even found out Claire was going to be the Bachelorette.
But I knew Claire was on there.
Tisha was actually on there.
Maybe Tia Booth and like one or two other people I want to say.
So I mean, just looking down the lineup, I was like Tasha is probably the one who I'd, you know, most mess would.
most mesh with. But again, I'm open to anybody. So that's what I was hoping for. Yeah, out of people
from the past, I beat me. I really don't know who I would really want to have been the
Bachelorette, to be honest. I think I've seen part of Rachel's season and then I watched
Peter's season. Yeah, so I don't really know if I had a frontrunner for me and my mind. But I'll be
honest, like there were a couple of us who honestly, we didn't know that we were going to get a new
Bachelorette actually they just like left us in the dark so we kind so with so with BIP being
canceled a few of us came up with this idea like oh maybe they'll just sneak in BIP since we just
had a short bachelorette's season so that's what I thought was going to happen yeah so that was
like yeah just blows up the bachelor's hair I mean I'm I talked to Chris Harrison all the time and
I was like oh surely he'll tell me no that guy will not tell me anything I have a big mouth but
I thought for sure that's what was going to happen yeah and obviously this will be another question
you get asked all the time, but girlfriends got asked the questions that the people want to know.
Of course.
But if you were to go on Bachelor in Paradise, do you have like a top two, top three girls you'd want to see there?
Or, and this is okay too, but I know it's probably awkward to talk about, but like I don't know the timeline of when the season ended to when she actually got engaged.
But are you still like processing what happened or are you like the chapter is closed?
I have closure and my mind is open now to other relationships.
Yeah, I mean, it happened four months ago at this point.
And yeah, the chapter's closed.
It is what it is.
I still care for Tasia.
She's cool, all that stuff.
You know, we had good time together.
But, you know, we'll get into how it all ended later, I guess.
But, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, if there's somebody who doesn't want to,
sounds weird, but I guess, like, accept me for just who I am, you know.
And I'm not going to change myself for somebody just because of the relationship.
then I don't really want to be with that person anyways, honestly.
So that's kind of how I like rationalized it in my head.
And I was just fine with that because she's entitled to, you know, prefer whatever she wants.
And I'm entitled to, you know, be open to everything and just be myself.
So it is what it is.
Yeah, of course.
I mean, that's, that's literally what the show is for is to figure out all of those things to take the relationships to the point where you can actually say, okay, we got this far and it was all great.
But this is what happened and that isn't my person.
That's literally what the show is for.
so it's good it's good that you can have clarity on that moving forward and don't think you're
getting away without answering my Bachelor in Paradise question so who are the girls I mean I don't know
if you've scoped out the roster for Matt James season or not yet or like who you have your eye on
who slid into your DMs like give us a little bit of of hot goss here for who you'd be interested
in um I'll say this there's um this is my honest take off so from looking at Peter's season
there's a lot of beautiful women there and I again I don't know them other than what I saw on TV
but just off rip I don't know if any of them would be like somebody I would like really marry
want to marry to be honest maybe date you know to have some fun with but maybe not marry but
you know on Matt's season to be honest it's they have a ton of women and they're beautiful
and I'm excited to see and learn more about them so we'll see going forward I'm really not sure
yet it's true because I mean there's there's no way you can't
look at the next season of a I don't like to say crop of women that sounds that's not giving them
enough justice the next herd of women coming through the door like cattle um but like you obviously
are going to look at who's coming up because you don't know what's next for you you don't know
if you're going to go in paradise or i mean i know a lot of people if matt wasn't the next bachelor
would root for you to be the next bachelor for so we know that everybody's rooting for you to find
somebody or if that's even just like finding somebody to date in paradise or on your own i think you
can you know know that everybody's rooting for you to be happy which is really nice because not a lot of
people get that coming off the show so no for sure so if bachelor paradise started tomorrow would
you would you jump on the island would you do it oh man i don't know tomorrow i just got no i just
got through with all my anxiety from this this season so i feel you i feel you
You just make my heart start to rush honestly.
I need a, I need a little bit of a break, to be honest.
Yeah.
Yeah, I need a little bit of a break.
I'll probably revisit that in a couple months, and we'll see going forward.
But, you know, there's a, you know, we'll see what happens.
I mean, there's also dating outside of the Bachelor world, too.
So we'll just see what happens by then.
We don't know that.
How does that work?
Tell us more.
You guys.
We're like, four, you can keep it in the family.
But I wanted to say that your family was so incredible and people not only fell in love with you and your personality, but your family as well.
And your brother Gabe got a lot of love on social media.
He was, he was, he's such a, like, deep, unique human being.
Like, anything he had to say, I really wanted to listen.
And it was so cool that he got to surprise you.
Do you guys live close to each other?
Like how close is you brought?
How often do you get to see him?
Because he was really, I wanted to see more of him.
Yeah, my brother and my mom and dad, I stay in like near the downtown Dallas area.
And they stay in a suburb where I grew up in North Dallas and Plano.
So they stay only like 30 minutes away now.
So I go there all the time, maybe like once a week or every two weeks.
And I talk to them out every single day pretty much.
So, yeah, they're all doing good.
It's, they're very happy with the show and how they were portrayed.
my mom, my dad, and my brother, I feel like they, they almost all equally got the same amount
of love, which I loved. There was like this little campaign starting up for my brother to be
the bachelor, which I thought was hilarious, and you love that. They were like, we would just
flip the whole bachelor world upside down if he was a bachelor. But I, no, I appreciate you saying
those kind words about my brother, too, because the thing about him is, like, we grew up the exact same,
like appearance-wise, we're complete opposite, and everybody can see that. Like, we are
opposite, contradictions, everything. But, you know, we're actually very similar. We're only 18
months apart we grew up in the same bedroom and took showers together so we were entirely too old
um no that's that's my little brother we just took kind of different paths once i went to college
and you know with him being in prison and stuff that allowed him you know i went to college but he
had learned a lot of crazy experiences learned from all the crazy experiences in there and he got to
read a lot and um you know and also having our dad too and our mom um we've just been taught a lot you know
throughout our lives and like we both got really good grades in school nobody would think that he
was a straight a student in school but but he was he's very smart as well so um you can tell just
literally the way he carries himself and and speaks like he seemed like a really smart well-spoken guy
um and it's you know it was really cool this season to see uh just just people talk about important
things and whether it was your family and and your brother to you and that you had the
whole Black Lives Matter opportunity on such an incredible platform that in our opinion has taken
far too long to be talked about or discussed on that show. But you talked about the Black Lives
Matter movement obviously important for people here. What were people's reactions to that
assuming you had an outpouring of love? And we're just so grateful that you had that opportunity
on such a massive platform to talk about it. Yeah. The reactions were amazing. I was honestly
ready for it. I was like, oh boy, I said BLM. I said George Floyd. I am done for from, you know,
a certain type of person in America, to be honest. But no, my DMs were amazingly positive.
I think I probably got like less than five like racist or crazy DMs, to be honest. And it was
amazingly positive. I loved it. Everybody was like very thankful to have this. And there were a ton of
people calling it the best one-on-one date in the history of all the seasons. I would have no clue about
that. I don't know about the history of it. But it was awesome because it was like a very chill date.
It was a very chill day.
We got to do something I love to do, just play games and hang out at the house.
And I remember that just felt like normal.
Like we were just hanging out and she was my girlfriend.
And then we got to have that real talk too.
And it honestly felt like there weren't cameras there.
I completely forgot there was a rose on the table when she gave it to me.
They edited that out.
Actually, I completely forgot that was like even part of this experience.
But yeah, we talked about a lot that night and I was happy.
We were able to connect.
I was happy.
She was able to open up a little bit.
And I'm very happy that the world got to see that for sure, especially in this year.
You know, there's been a lot of people advocating for that in the Bachelor Nation and whatnot.
And I'm just excited and my parents are proud that I was the one who was able to speak about that kind of stuff.
And I feel like I am a person who's able to speak in depth to those types of topics, honestly.
I'm so glad you got the support that you deserve from that because you do wonder when you go on that kind of national television show knowing the kind of audience.
that's tuning in what kind of response you'll get.
But it just says a lot about your character that you were just like,
this is what's important to me.
Let's talk about important things when I'm going to pick,
or we're both going to pick like a life-altering decision of a partner for the rest of our lives.
So I think I've talked about this so many times.
And Jason and I both agree that the show has needed to evolve in all of these ways.
And they really are and talking about things that matter,
including religion, which is obviously something that you're going to have to talk a lot about.
Just because I don't feel like the viewers really got answers in the way that we need.
So which is why people are going to just kind of annoy you with these questions nonstop.
But, you know, when I always said in fantasy suites, it's not always about the like the, I mean, of course there's intimacy and all of that.
But what really matters in those dates is finding out if your paths in life align, if your beliefs align, religion, politics, money.
So many important things that you should talk about when you're finding a life partner.
but unfortunately we don't get to see that on the other side.
So what is the question that we missed and what is the religion talk that we missed
that Tasha ended up ending the relationship over?
Yeah.
So, you know, in this short amount of time, you have to have like deep talks and talk about
a lot of different things.
And there was kind of like, and I was always trying to like kind of calculate like when
I could talk about certain things with Tasia.
Like in that first one-on-one, we got to talk about family a little bit and we got to talk
about the world in hometowns.
kind of turned back to family again. And then in fantasy suites, I knew that would be like
our one opportunity to have like hours and hours of uninterrupted time. We can talk about
finances. I'm actually really big into like finances and investing and whatnot. So I love to
talk about that, especially if we're going to be partners going forward. And then, you know,
raising kids. And that's kind of how it's how the religion topic got brought up. Because I believe
she asked me. I knew we were going to have to talk about it eventually because I could tell
that she was at least, that she was Christian, but we hadn't talked about it in the past,
but she said, like, maybe once to me that she relied on her faith a lot or something like
that. And then just from the other guys, I was like, okay, she's Christian. So in the fantasy
suite, that was like really the first opportunity. I felt like we could really have a good
amount of time to talk about it, because for some people who aren't familiar with people who
like aren't religious or I identify myself as agnostic, it's a lot to take in, honestly.
and I try to explain myself as best I can.
So that's kind of how I came up.
She was like, Tasha was like, so what do you think about, you know, raising kids with religion and whatnot?
And then that's when we dove into it.
And I kind of explained to Tasha, listen, I'm agnostic.
And being agnostic is a lot of people confuse it for being atheist.
Atheist is not what I am.
Atheist is taking a hard stance that there is no God and that's not what I believe at all.
It's completely different things, but everybody confuses it.
agnostic is strictly saying i don't know basically and that's just how i feel i feel like
i feel like i don't know i honestly feel like no one really knows you know whatever religion
you are honestly the majority of the world is actually not your religion so it all it all gets
kind of crazy and then when we get into the details of things when she maybe starts asking me
about like my beliefs about like is there heaven or is there hell that kind of stuff i'm going to
be like yeah my answer is going to be different than yours because i'm going to tell our kids
i don't know what there is and then you can tell the kids whatever you want and you
could take them the church that's completely fine with me. Because in my past, I've dated women who
are Christian. I've dated women who are Muslim, like anything. I'm completely open to it. It is what it is.
You can have whatever religion you want. My main focus are the morals and values that you have. And
that's what I try to have. I just try to have good morals and values. That's what's most important to
me. And, you know, for Tasha, it's something different where she, I guess, actually wanted to date someone
who is Christian. And that's completely fine. And that's how a lot of people are. So that's completely
fine and you know you know it kind of it's it does suck or i guess or whatever that you know you probably
could have just eliminated x amount of people in the beginning then off of that but but but uh it is what it is
and i don't blame it for it because i mean it's a tough topic to get around to you and then ask somebody who's
also not religious or or agnostic i guess like i don't really ever go around telling people like
hey i'm agnostic or i'm not religious like people don't do that like when you're a religion you kind of
like hey i'm going to my church i'm going to my synagogue whatever like if you're not religious you just don't
really talk about it and it's something that I also think a lot of people think that like maybe
I don't think too much about but I dove deep into this and that's where I arrived I just I the main
thing with the religion with me is like I don't really like the dogmatism of it all where people
try to claim or people claim that things are the way they are you know without really any proof
to me at least and that's where the faith part comes in but I just that's just how I like to live my
life i like i need to see proof of everything and if something ever did prove itself to be true to me
then i would 100% go on board with that religion but at this point i would just have to say based
off all like all the evidence i've seen across the board i just don't i just don't see it to be honest so

This is Austin Vine, Grape Therapy.
Ivan, was there ever a conversation with you guys?
And it's interesting to bring up this topic.
I have a Jewish mother, Catholic father.
So we celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas
and we're exposed to both religions.
So you're saying relationships can work.
Yeah.
So that's kind of the segue.
Was there ever the conversation to say in the fantasy suites like,
hey, I know this is where you stand. This is where I stand. Maybe one day we can come around to it or we can
learn each other's perspectives in greater detail when we have more time and then figure out was that
conversation had. Yeah. Or did you just know in that moment where you're like, oh, something shifted.
This is done. No, I did not know in that moment necessarily. But that was a great question, Jason.
And yes, we did have that talk actually. And I brought up the term interfaith relationship.
And to be honest, I don't think Tatea even knew what that was or like ever really thought about
the idea of dating a non-Christian. So I was like, I'm open to interfaith relationship. I actually
think interfaith relationship brings a ton of value, just like you stated, where it exposes the children
to multiple different ways of thinking, and they can potentially make a decision for themselves
based off of things they've had told to them by both parents and then maybe go into research for
themselves, as opposed to a relationship where it is two people who think the same way and the kids may
just, you know, following their kids' footsteps. I just love the idea of being exposed to as much
stuff as possible and then being able to make your decision, you know, when you're an appropriate
age. So that was something that was brought up. And yeah, I guess Tasha's not into an intervanned
relationship, obviously. Well, I was going to ask, and that was a really good question, Jason,
because I was going to ask, like, how much do you know about the other guys? Like, we know now that
she picked Zach. And do you now from being removed from being on the other side of us watching in
and knowing Zach, do you feel like that is a good match that is the kind of person she's looking for
and that they're going to work?
And of course, that's putting a lot of pressure on you to answer that.
So you've done media training.
You can answer how you will.
Yeah, I mean, you know, Zach, honestly, is a great guy.
He's a great guy.
I really do like him.
I really appreciated the guys in the house that I considered to be real.
And like I said, didn't do stuff for the camera.
and that 100% is that he's a class act he's he's a man he's i respect the guy to death we got to
100% of um connect on the whole drug addiction and rehab type stuff because i've been there with
my brother and whatnot so um he means a lot to me and i really like that guy uh he's a great guy
um as far as them working out um you know i it seemed like they had a ton of chemistry honestly
going on and i didn't realize that so that was that was cool but like yeah from the outside
looking in I guess one would question just like you know their lifestyles are on the opposite
coast um you know he's he's sober she it seemed like tasha honestly like to drink we always
drank i felt like um i don't know how that plays into it but um you know i'm if i don't know if
they're together today or not but i i hope they are um i know for i know for certain i can tell
that zach was in love with tasha like before all of us he was there first and he's a great
guy and he's going to treat her right um so i don't know i wish them the best though for sure i just want
them to both to be happy and i hope they found that in each other i saw that i mean there's i mean
like you said there's different things with the religion that you can maybe not get past there's
certain thing with lifestyle that maybe you can get past um but one thing that i did really see from
the season was that he did truly truly love her and that he would treat her like gold but
But isn't that crazy to, I mean, I'm sure, Jason, you can relate.
I'm sure we've talked about it.
And I can relate from being on The Bachelor and you on The Bachelorette that when you get sent
home, you're like, how could anyone have anything more than what we had?
And then you watch it back and you're able to get so much clarity and see.
And you're like, oh, shit, I did not know that's what was going on or that they had that.
But it almost gives you that clarity that you need and that closure to be able to understand
and accept it.
Yeah. No, for sure. Well, there's like the small part of me. I'm like, I'm wondering if the editing is messing with it at all to like, to build up the guy who wins or whatever. But no, I mean, just in the way that Tasha would talk about, you know, a couple other guys, it was completely different from the way she was describing me. I felt like like, like she would just say like things like I'm safe or there's nothing wrong with Ivan. Whereas other guys, she's like, oh, I'm head over heels. I'm smitten by him or whatever else. I was just like, I had no shot. So I think, you know, finishing around number three.
think that's true. Let me give, well, I mean, I know, but there's, I mean, I can only speak from experience in that I've been in the same shoes as Tasia. And there's so many times where I was like, oh my gosh, they made, they didn't even show what I said about this person or actually I was saying, I was saying this about someone else and they made it about this. Like, there is the editing aspect of it. But at the end of the day, I think we can all know that when somebody's heart is somewhere, that's where they're going to go. And whether that sucks or it's not.
not where you saw it going or whatever it is.
Like, when you're removed from it and it's been whatever four months, you can actually
look back and go, okay, this is, this is what was supposed to happen for everybody.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. And to be honest, like when, you know, after the hometowns, I thought I was in like
pole position first place, to be honest, basically, because I got the first rows.
And then also I got the first fantasy suite because I was trying to think about it.
Like if I was the bachelorette or bachelor, I'd probably give my frontrunner the first
rose at the hometown and then the first fantasy suite to be honest but um but yeah so it's uh it is what
it is um i definitely think she got the guy that was best for her though and zack for sure i'm glad
i've been again i'm hoping i'm not stealing a question here but when you did break up it seemed as though
and i can relate to this too um i was like i wanted to see ivan just like an emotional mess like
i love this guy i want to feel for him and one of the things is you were so like
composed and I was wondering did you see it coming or was you were you just in shock like what was
going through your brain right then right there yeah so um so I did have that first fantasy suite
so it was like a couple days for me to just like think about everything that happened and
when Tasha and I had that religion talk like it didn't honestly even finish like we just talked
about it lasted 30 minutes 45 minutes and then we kind of just moved on from it and we were just
like okay just think about it we'll see what happened so that was like the one thing where I was
like, okay, I could be sent home for that reason. And I did know that going into there. Other than
that, I was confident, but that one thing, like, yeah, sit in the back of my mind. So, and then just,
you know, before that, I kind of prepared myself, like I said earlier, I, someone who doesn't want to,
like, accept me for just not being religious, even though I do have great morals and values.
I'm sure she accepts me as a person, as a friend, all that stuff. But, like, as a partner or
life partner, then, you know, that's not the person I really want for myself anyways. So that's why
I was like, that was like my guess, maybe my defense mechanism or my way of like rationalizing
gift to myself that like I want someone who's open to me just because I have great
morals and values and I'm a great guy, not because I'm not this certain religion specific.
Right.
Yeah, it is what it is.
And she's completely entitled to her choice on that to you.
Last question before I just make you play a fun game and then I'll get you out of here.
But what were your thoughts when Ben came back?
Because you guys didn't know, right?
He just like walked back in.
he was like, yeah, she invited me here.
So, like, what was going through your head when he walked back into the rose ceremony?
Yeah.
So there was so much crazy, there was so much crazy stuff that happened all season.
Bennett came back for some reason.
I knew that was completely fake and him being fake.
So I was just like, I didn't care when Bennett came back because I was like,
I was just worried about myself.
And, you know, I knew I was going to be final four.
So I was like, I'm not going to put up with these shenanigans.
And then when Ben came back, not that he's like on the same level as Bennett with the shenanigans,
but like I was just like whatever like this is like she's going to pick who she wants to
pick anyways like I just got to focus on my relationship with Tasia if she wants me here
she'll keep me if she doesn't want me here then whatever so yeah so I honestly didn't
really have too much way of thinking yeah it was like it was like it was a little bit of a surprise
because um you know we were expecting Brendan to walk up but then Ben walked up I was like
that guy's a little bit bigger than Brendan and my eyes are terrible so like I'm always caught
squinting the whole time so I was like Ben walks up on us we're just like okay what's up
dude he gave his little spiel and i was like welcome back i guess i don't know i guess you wanted
you back here yeah i guess she wanted you back here so it is what can you do yeah i definitely
respected all of her decisions she's trying to figure this out for herself and i wasn't going to
question any of that god bless you yeah that's that's hard to think that like yeah i questioned
i mean i'm sitting here and i think a lot of people at this point can can know the show in
the franchise and they're like ah those producers they got them to come back like so many people
Well, you know, can see where that's...
For sure.
I just have one more question for that.
One of the things I love about you, man, is that you just, you jumped into taboo subjects
that usually aren't talked about or, like, talked about after the show in depth.
And so, like, kudos to you for showing that maturity.
It was refreshing to watch from our perspective.
And I'm curious, you talked a little bit, obviously, about religion.
But how were you raised when it comes to religious views?
Like, where did your parents go on the scope?
And then also, as an aeronautical engineer, I'm curious, like, coming up.
on to the show. Was that a tough thing for your family to go, for your career, things like that?
Okay. Yeah, so first, how I was raised as far as religion. Starting out, like, my mom, she was,
you know, she grew up Christian, everybody in her family's Christian. I even got baptized when I was a
baby. I went to private school, all that stuff. She taught me some prayers and all that kind of stuff, too.
But, you know, I think it kind of started to fade for her. My dad, he just wasn't religious. He just,
he never told us anything. He just didn't talk about it really at all. Later on, I think my
dad started to, you know, really as he became more wise, you know, and started coaching us up
on what he thought of, how he viewed things. And now, you know, we're all pretty much not
religious, to be honest. And just the way it worked out. And, you know, it is sometimes for even
a little bit different reasons. I'll say, like, it's not just like my parents influenced me to be
one way. Like, I am very much my own thinker. And, you know, out of all the kids, my dad and
mom will say that, like, I almost never go to them for advice. It's like my brothers that always do.
I never do because I just figure stuff out for myself.
But that's a kudos of them because they just raised me to be able to think for myself
and critically think on all these topics.
As far as the aeronautical engineering side, I'm very fortunate.
I have a great job.
I work for a great company.
I work from home.
I only work four days a week.
My manager is amazing.
And it was no problem coming on to the show at all, actually.
They were like, oh, great, we'll watch.
We'll support.
And it's a giant company.
And there's a billion people reaching out to me there.
There's a lot of VPs and the CEO watching it.
So it's crazy.
And there's a lot of Skype messages and we're rooting for you and all that kind of stuff.
So it was very easy.
As soon as I got back, I was welcomed back with open arms.
They all love me more than ever now.
That's a testament to your character that they really trusted you and who you would be
and being yourself on the show to be like, you know what?
You go do it.
You're not going to disappoint anyone here.
I feel like, Jason, you were the same way.
I will say they were very worried because I am in the defense industry.
So I have a secret clearance.
So they were like, is there anything we need to worry about?
I think you might need to go on private.
We don't want you to like anybody to hack your stuff.
I'm like, all right, guys.
I'm not.
Come on.
Like, nothing crazy happened.
I didn't get naked on TV.
I didn't represent us in a bad way.
Trust me.
You guys will love it.
So it's all good.
That's awesome.
That must feel good.
Okay.
So I like to think of myself as a matchmaker.
I've done some pretty legit matchmaking in my, in my past.
So I need to see your work.
A couple, a couple that.
I match me, they're married now, which I have to clear up. Apparently on one podcast, I said
they're married and trying for kids. And she was like, no, we're not. And I was like, okay,
just kidding. They're not trying for kids. Wanted to clear that up. But anyways, this game is pretty
easy. I'm going to ask you some rapid fire questions about yourself and hopefully get a feel for what
type of girl. No, sorry. I was going to say what type of girl you're looking at what type of guy you
are so I can make another match. Okay. Are you ready? Let's do it. Because I'm friends with a lot of
Batswornation, but I also have a lot of friends outside of Bachelor Nation that are interested in you.
So here we go.
Very simple game.
Mountains or beaches?
Beaches.
Okay.
Night owl or early bird?
Night owl.
Me too.
Not.
It's okay.
Is this why I came on?
You guys got something telling me like Jerry Springer?
Every question.
I'm like, me too.
You want tea?
We'll give you.
Movies or reading.
movies okay dogs or cats dogs
phone calls or texts phone calls face time call guy yes um okay online online online okay
shower or bath shower oh jason's a big bath guy over here uh beer or wine wine wine
okay oh i'll have to send you some of my wine okay good cookies or ice cream ice cream
truth or dare truth
safe play okay go backpacking or stay at a resort stay at a resort
i thought you'd be resorted out by now
yeah
yeah i should be in that heat um and then the last one i'll ask which is
very important in sync or back street boys oh let me think back street boys i want to say i like
i'm i'm a big BSB guy too um okay you're almost free i know this is you're gonna have to do so
many of these now you're completely good we're good okay guys one quick question about the house
i'm curious about just so like because i don't think we got this like when i at my season blake and i were
boys. And on your season, you, Whitney and
Beckettile. Who is your crew in the house? Like, who were your go-to guys
at after the show? I guess. That's all the listeners question. Oh, was it? Yeah,
but that's good. That's good. I love viewers. Let's do it. No, yeah, I love this
question. It's, uh, so my roommate the whole time there was Demar, so that's my guy.
Like, we, he was the only guy I got to talk to you like off mic too, like, you know,
later now. He needs the greatest storyteller. I love the dude. Uh, you know, I, I'm really cool
with Riley, Noah, Jordan Chapman.
Those are the guys who I talk to the most.
I talked to Ed a lot too, actually.
Spencer, I saw him recently.
Oh, Spencer, man, what happened to that guy?
He was like coming in hot and that was like, bye.
He got the first impression rose, didn't he?
Yeah, that was wild.
He did. He did.
Spencer's going to be all right.
Yeah, he'll be fine.
He'll be fine.
Emily Larson, Emily Larson had this question,
And I'm like, I'm going to ask, but she wants to know, ask him why, slash if he realized the producers had a camera above the bed in the fantasy trailer.
Yes, I realized that because I wanted them to take it down.
I was asking, I was like, oh, yeah, you guys going to take all that down?
I was like, uh-uh.
No, no, no, sir.
It was like, it was like a GoPro sticking out.
I was like, no, that's got to go.
So we just walked out for a little bit and let them take care of that.
Some people think you got, you got jipped on the fantasy suite.
What was my reaction when I saw that?
I was like, what?
That's so sick.
I loved it.
I thought you got chipped.
I'll be honest.
So it's a funny story.
Well, I'll start with that.
So I had like a mixed reaction to be honest because I was like, I'm honestly down for
anything and I'm really not like that boozy or anything.
But I was just in my mind, I was like, oh, I'm about to get the works.
I'm going to have rose petals leading to a bed.
That's what I was ready for.
I was like, we're going to this area of the property I've never seen before.
So I was like, okay, let's go.
And then I see a trailer.
I was like they didn't actually include a lot of my reactions but like I was like am I going to
people stand up in that thing I'm kind of like I don't know no chance yeah yeah but it was funny and
I've seen this a couple times I think like top to bottom I cost ABC like in the bachelor's show
no money at all for my dates like my one-on-one was a hotel date my hometown was a cooking date
in just a in a kitchen regular kitchen and then I got an ice bath and an airstream like I cost them
money at all. But like I'm not complaining at all. I'm grateful for it all. I loved every bit of
it. But just thinking back, it's really funny to think about. It is interesting though, because you
usually like think about other seasons. They're like going to extravagance. Yes. You know,
having these totally extravagant dates. And here you are taking a cold bath before a fantasy suite
in a trailer. Yeah, I was to say, I don't know. I don't know if it's like a third place thing,
but I was the same way. I used to joke around. They would get like these bands and all these people.
like they had concerts for Blake.
I got literally chicken wings
and like we went to a donut shop
and then they tried to act like I was a vampire.
I'm like, this is third place bullshit.
That's what you guys get for being so like relatable
and down to earth, okay?
It's not a bad thing.
We want the works, right?
I mean, come on.
Yeah, yeah, I definitely wanted the works,
but I do feel like everybody was able to relate to my dates,
which was actually a great thing too, though.
And it was the most natural and easy.
Yeah, for sure.
I actually love those dates.
I love them too
They're my favorite type
Like to be honest
I wouldn't have wanted to do that
Like horseback riding date and fireworks and stuff
Like Brendan got that's like a little extra
Especially in that hot heat
Like I just wanted my dates
They were much better than me
I saw that ice bath
And I was like I would dive in there so fast head first
Yeah
This question I actually
I actually really liked
Now
Again I'm friends with Tasia
And I love her and adore her
So this isn't anything against her
but Callie Howard wanted to know
the show portrayed their relationship as perfect.
Did he see any red flags from her?
Oh, I mean.
This is one of those things were later after you could be like,
edit that out, Caitlin.
I'm not comfortable and I'd go, okay.
I got you.
You know, and that was one of the things
I was actually kind of definitely thinking about
because up to the Fantasy Suite,
everything was perfect.
And I was like,
Some other guys have, like, maybe, you know, arguments whether to a certain degree, like, Noah had his little stuff.
And he, and they got to go through adversity at least.
Like, I was like, we've had no adversity whatsoever.
I have no clue how she reacts to anything.
She has no clue how I react to adversity, how I'm able to stay strong through that.
And, you know, fantasy suite is when we first had a little bit of adversity with the whole religion talk and, you know, and, you know, it just is what it is.
But, yeah, that was what, yeah, up to that point, it was perfect, to be honest.
there was there was nothing wrong at all um that's why i felt really confident going into that
week but you know things just didn't work out after that um so yeah yeah when she so when you guys
broke up you felt the adversity you're having the conversation at that point you know you didn't
get the rose you're going home did you think that she was going to bring up the religion thing
no no yeah yeah no yeah so okay so i guess i did not yeah when we were sitting on that bench
I didn't know what to expect, because one, it was before the rose ceremony,
so I didn't know, like, if she expected me to, like, fight for my life or something real quick
or, like, what was going on.
It wasn't like I just didn't get a rose and we walked out, talked, and I left.
So I didn't know, really understand what was going on.
And then while we were sitting there and she was talking, I was like, okay, we're about to see what happens here.
And then I was wondering if she was going to go into the religious talk because I was like,
I don't think people really talk about this on this show that much.
And this was a fantasy sweet talk.
So I didn't know.
And then also, you know, she's 100.
percent entitled to her own opinion and I want everybody to understand that for sure. But I didn't know
if she wanted, because I'm sure there's people coming for her to just being like, hey, why are you
not open to a guy with good morals and values, you know? So I didn't know if she wanted to like get
that back class because I'm sure she's getting that. And you know, it's wrongful, honestly,
because it is what it is. Like she's entitled to feel the way she feels and I'm entitled to
feel the way I feel. But I just didn't know if she would want that for herself. So I was a little
bit surprised that she brought it up. And when she did bring it up, I was definitely thinking
about how like almost like really no one really knows like I'm not religious because like I said
I don't really talk about it and I definitely live in the Bible belt part of the country in Dallas
especially with people of my demographic are always Christian always very religious and people
just assume that about me so I just don't talk about it but yeah now the whole world knows and
that's definitely different but yeah but I mean it's I think it's cool you've had so many
opportunities to be who you are speak your truth things you believe in things you stand for
and if anyone can you know shit on somebody for that it's just so silly because it's like you're
genuinely just going on there being authentic trying to find someone that aligns with you and someone
that believes in what you do and even if they don't that you can respect each other and compromise
and do all these things that's literally why every relationship is so different we all have
different beliefs. Like Jason said, his mom's Jewish, his dad's Catholic. They have the most
beautiful relationship I've ever seen in my life. It's so loving. It works. It's just that's what
makes the world go round. You know, it's everybody having opinions and respecting one another.
Yeah. I really appreciate that. And, you know, thinking back to it all, it's like, yeah,
I was, like I said, I was always going to be genuine in myself. And thinking back to it,
I just brought so many, like, crazy things to the show that just aren't really talked about with the whole
BLM stuff and then and then really just even having my mom and dad be there an interracial
couple, a black and Asian couple, which is like never represented from the research I saw and
like what other people have told me. Like I think I'm the first black and Asian person ever on
the show even. By far made it further than any Asian male on the show ever. And not to mention
my brother who's a felon with face tats, let's be honest, to be on this show, to Middle America
is like a crazy thing to see, but we still have that love and that he's very smart and all of
not being religious and being agnostic is you know it's usually a Christian narrative on the show
I feel like and you know people there's 22 25% of the country is not religious too
and that doesn't really get talked about too much so I'm very glad I was able to bring all this
stuff up by just being myself it's not like I forced any of these conversations
there's just things that naturally came out as I'm trying to figure out if this if tasha
was going to be my wife and how promising and encouraging it is to know
the response you got back in these times we're in.
You know, I think that's a win overall.
It's so incredible.
You are one of my favorite people that have ever been on the show.
Jason and I have talked about this a lot.
You're just,
you're literally what the show needs and what America deserves.
And we really appreciate you, who you are,
what you stand for, and for taking the time to come on this podcast.
And my last question, and this is an easy one,
is just where can people find you and what can we expect from you
moving forward actually yeah i mean i mean people can follow me on you know instagram twitter
tic-tok it's ivan b hall at on all of those on my twitter's ivan b hall eight um but other
two are ivan b hall so you know you know honestly i wasn't a social media guy before this at all
like i posted a picture a year or something but you know i think it's a unique opportunity and
you know there's a lot of like power and honestly good that can come out of it so i plan to use that
use it for that. I'm definitely going to have fun because I'm a fun guy, but I am going to mix
in a couple other things. Like, I do want to talk about, you know, giving back to the community
and prison reform. I do want to talk about, you know, something that's not talked about enough
in the country, really, which is like money and investing. That's like something that's really dear
to me and something that's really that I like try to mentor and coach people on, especially as like a
young, I know you're into it too. I want to say, Jason. I was like, oh my God, do you need to
call Jason? Yeah, it's just like something.
I know like, yeah, just as like my first five years out of college, it's like amazing to me
how people or other engineers like have no clear what to do with their money.
I'm just like just set yourself up for the future.
Like passive investors is like what I'm really big into.
So those two topics are something I really want to like bring awareness too, but I'm
definitely going to have a ton of fun with it too.
And it's going to be cool.
It's not going to be like your, you know, cookie cutter, you know, type of person.
I feel like you see coming out of the show.
There's like, you know, I'm coming off the show.
Dr. Joe is a dope guy.
He's really cool.
He's going to do things his way too.
like a very real good guy and I I really like that that's coming out you know and I'm sure the other guys
are going to do great things too yeah absolutely well we just wish nothing but the best for you and that
Jason literally as a whole restart like empire on finances and everything so yeah you'll have to go
on there as well but thank you so much for taking the time and we can't wait to see what you do
with with the platform that you have because you've already you've already changed the bachelor
a franchise for the better and the world. So thank you so much. And you are you guys you guys need

good things for you. I really appreciate it. You guys are awesome and thank you for having here.
