Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads Sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.

Caitlin Bristow is going to answer your questions.
Drink to your confessions and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor.
Let's shake it up some more.
Here's Caitlin.
Okay, welcome to grape therapy.
I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow.
Today we are getting the chance to speak with a very special guest to recap this week's
episode of Listen to Your Heart.
He is a musician from California who found himself becoming a part of the Bachelor franchise,
even though he has no idea what the hell is going to be.
on in the Bachelor franchise.
He didn't even know Chris Harrison's name.
It might have been my favorite part of the whole season.
He also admitted that his longest relationship has been the one he's had with his beard.
So we know we're going to get some relationship drama from him.
And we have not been disappointed so far.
Please welcome to the podcast.
Matt from Listen to Your Heart.
How do you say your last name, Rando?
Renato.
No, Renato.
Just kidding.
Renato.
Matt Renato.
That was one hell of an introduction.
And thank you so much for having me on.
Okay, first of all, I cannot stop singing.
I always have the shallow songs stuck in my head, like, usually, like, usually seven days a week.
I finally have stopped for the past, like, three weeks, and then I watched this episode, and now it's right back.
And my boyfriend is very annoyed because I finally stopped shouting it.
So thank you for that.
But you guys, friggin, you destroyed that, that performance.
Oh, thank you so much.
It really was, uh, it was such an amazing night.
and to get to perform that with with rudy was just like the perfect combination of things that
happen i like i like everybody on this show there's not one person that i'm not really like rooting
for but you guys have my favorite voices and especially together and i am like can you just
fall in love already so that we can continue to see your journey can we just cut this bullshit and
can you guys be in love or what well thank you for saying that that that's
very nice view. And yeah, you know, I'm, I'm working on it. I'm trying.
Well, we'll have to tune in next Monday. Is that what you're saying?
Yes. Lots of, lots of drama ahead. Oh, good. Okay. Well, let's get back to the beginning really
quick, because as I mentioned in your intro, you were pretty much completely unfamiliar with
the Bachelor franchise. So how did you even become a part of Listen to Your Heart? Yeah. So I was
lucky enough to have somebody in, from ABC, reach out to me.
and told me about this brand new show that had to do with making music and potentially
finding love. And that's pretty much all I knew going into it. I didn't really know the
Bachelor aspect until we were getting way closer to filming. So yeah, I definitely should have
done a little bit more research, but they didn't tell me who the host was going to be. I didn't
find out that he was going to be the host until I actually got there. I figured it was going
to be, you know, like some kind of musician was going to be the host. Oh, you haven't heard
Chris Harrison sing? I haven't. I bet you he could sing, though. The guy's a legend. I actually
don't know if he can sing, but I feel like he could do a lot of things. So singing would probably
be one of them. Yeah, okay, that's so funny. I didn't know, because you said Chris Hansen, and
isn't that the guy from, like, how to catch a predator or something like that? Yeah, I, you know,
Like I said, I had a general idea of who he was.
I've heard his name and I've seen his face, you know, so I was just firing off every
Chris that I knew.
That's so funny, though, because one, when I was Bachelorette, night one of my season,
there was like a guy who got really drunk, and he also called Chris Harrison, Chris Hansen.
So it was pretty funny.
No way.
See, I'm not alone.
No, you're not.
I thought I would make you feel better by telling you that story.
I don't think, I don't remember if they aired that part or not.
I just remember laughing so hard because I was like, that guy just called Chris Harrison, Chris Hansen.
That's amazing.
Okay, so how long has music been a part of your life?
Has this been something you grew up doing?
Because I think your father was a musician, right?
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah, my dad, Bob, was a touring musician pretty much when I was growing up my whole life.
And he's played with so many people.
He's really a world-class guitar player, and he's been a studio guitarist and a, and a
touring guy for a long time. So I grew up just around unbelievable musicians and a ton of music
equipment in the house. And I was just surrounded by just incredible music my whole life.
Oh, that's, I'm so jealous. I feel like, well, first of all, let me just say that the day that this
podcast comes out, I actually have a song coming out myself. No way. That's awesome. Yeah, I'm pretty
scared about it. But that's okay. I'm, I'm doing that thing where you know if you feel really afraid to do
something it means you should do it that's what i'm doing with releasing a music so when this
podcast comes out you better be putting out positive thoughts for my for my song absolutely i will i can't
wait to hear it you have to be honest with me though okay so that's cool that you got to grow up with that
so i mean right from the get go you've you've been around music and loving music and then what did
your career and music look like before you came on the show was that what you were kind of doing as a job
yeah um so i have a band me and my
cousin we co-front the band it's called brother stone and the get down and uh we we play four or five
nights a week well what we did before the the world ended um yeah that's that's what we were doing
uh to make money and we do a lot of studio work too that's what did you can you tell me the name of your
band one more time i didn't catch it uh we're called brother stone and the get down okay so i always
love to hear the backstory of where people come up with their band name and where how did you come
up with that? Well, so the brother, the brother's stone part was, uh, Colin and I grew up pretty much
like brothers. He's my first cousin. Our, our moms are sisters. My mom is one of seven daughters.
They all have kids. We all have a million cousins. So we grew up, we grew up really close,
kind of kind of broken and all together. So, uh, him and I grew up like brothers. And
brother stone was, was this idea of, of like a brother's bond.
So that's where that came from.
And then the get down is because our band is so funky that the get down is pretty much
the only way you could describe it.
Get down.
I like it.
So what kind of music do you guys play?
We do a lot of different stuff, but we do some newer soul, some kind of like newer R&B
kind of vibes.
But we also do singer-songwriter stuff, like Americana, John Mayer, like early John Mayer-esque kind of
stuff. Love that. Yeah. Who doesn't love John Mayer? Though we are apart these days,
we're sharing more. And GEICO would just like to say thanks. Thanks for sharing your savage dance
moves. Thanks for sharing your DIY haircut fails. Thanks for sharing your inner lip sync star.

Now the journey is obviously not over for you.
You and Rudy are heading to the finale,
but I wanted to know what surprised you from your time on the show
since you really obviously did not know what to expect.
I mean, you know you're going on for music and love,
but were you like, what the hell is a day car?
like all the performances traveling like a tour bus you obviously had no idea what you were getting
into but what surprised you the most i was i was constantly on my toes being surprised and not
knowing what to expect i did yeah i didn't know the the whole format with the date cards and and
and that whole thing but um the whole the entire process was completely unfamiliar to me and we didn't
know what the timelines were we didn't know how long we were going to have
to learn the songs.
Yeah.
So just navigating all of that stuff was very interesting and stressful at the same time.
But it made for, you know, some epic stuff to happen.
Yeah, absolutely.
When you guys got on that tour bus, did you really stay on it the whole time and like hang out?
Or was it like a, oh, you did?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, we were on the entire time until we got to that creepy-ass hotel in the little bit more.
Yeah, that looked like fun, though. That's creepy-ass hotels in the middle of nowhere right up my alley. That's when fun stuff happens.
So what were some of your first impressions for your fellow cast members night one when you arrived at the mansion?
I know we saw you connect with Rudy and then with Mel, but was there anyone you connected with who we didn't get to see?
Yeah, I actually spent a fair amount of time with Cheyenne. And they, you didn't get to see much of that.
And she was, was such a, she is such a sweet, sweet, genuine person.
And she just was very quiet.
And so a lot of our, a lot of our conversations were very, I guess, you know, not TV exciting.
Right.
Yeah, you got to, you got to make good, you got to make good music together.
You got to have a good romantic connection and you got to make good TV.
Right.
Yeah, that's a lot.
That's a lot to handle.
And, wait, let's go back to that hotel because.
did you know you were going to get to do that?
Yeah, as soon as we got on the bus,
we kind of formulated this plan
to get away from everybody
and spend some time away from the cast
and the other producers
and just kind of do it on.
So you really didn't have like cameras
or the crew or anything around you?
You guys actually got like a loan time?
Yeah, I mean, we did.
The crew was around us for most of the day.
But once we got to the creepy motel,
we pretty much had that time to ourselves.
Oh, that's so nice.
Okay, tell me something that people wouldn't know that we didn't get to see.
Sure, yeah.
So I got a couple things I can tell you.
Amazing.
First of all, that creepy motel was right next to a train track.
It was literally within a few feet of it.
So at 4 in the morning, the train came blaring through right next to our window.
So that was something they didn't show that was pretty epic.
Yeah.
okay you said there's two things what else uh well so so you know you know how all the guys sleep
in in one room yeah um so i'm a very light sleeper so i didn't really get much sleep i didn't get
much sleep anyway but being in there with with ten guys there was a lot of weird sounds that would
be happening in the middle of the night but one in particular was my good buddy ryan who was
bunkmates with uh you should ask Trevor about this if you ever talked so uh Ryan in the
middle of the was doing an interview in the middle of the night in the middle of our room
yeah literally giving an interview in his sleep it was the best the best thing I've ever
witnessed in my whole life oh my gosh that's amazing what was he saying he was saying he was
saying like thank you guys so much like you know everybody here's so
talented and I'm just so grateful to be a part of this journey and like he was being you know
being sweet Ryan and doing this that's amazing thank God he wasn't like talking shit about you guys
actually that would been hilarious um and obviously you don't have your phone so you can't like
pull it out and make a funny Instagram story about it I know I wish I did it's very unfortunate um
okay so in this week's episode you kind of talked a little bit about how you have a hard time
opening up because you've been hurt in the past.
Can you share a little bit more about that?
Like, do you feel like being on the show maybe helped you open up a little more and step
outside your comfort zone?
So the whole process for me was extremely outside of my comfort zone.
I'm not great at talking about that kind of stuff in private and let alone in front
of cameras and a bunch of strangers that I didn't know.
But it helped me so much get over those kinds of fears.
and I was way, by the end of it, I was way more comfortable talking about that stuff
and being in those high pressure kind of situations.
Yeah, I mean, you don't really have any other choice but to be that way because that's
just part of the show.
And I feel like producers make you feel comfortable, you know, to, they're all really
good at talking about those things and getting people to open up.
I always say that's like the best thing to come from that show is how much people learn about
themselves.
And I know we saw Rudy open up and obviously say,
She was falling in love with you.
But what was going through your mind?
Because I know, obviously, there could be some, like, long pauses for editing, dramatic
effect and all that good stuff.
But what was going through your mind when she said that?
Because you didn't, you know, say it in return.
And that was a big part of that last episode.
Yeah.
Well, let me first start off by saying, I wish I said something different in that moment, obviously,
because that was just the worst thing to say, just a ridiculous.
response. But I was, I was overwhelmed. We, we were a little, we were a little tipsy. We just got
done singing with Shaggy. He was, he was still standing in the room somewhere. I was just, I was
trying to process the whole thing. And it just, it was a lot for me. Yeah. I mean, the whole,
the whole thing is a lot. And, and you could kind of hear it in your voice and see it in your eyes when you
said, like, somebody asked you how you were feeling. And you're like, this whole process has been so
overwhelming and you could just tell you were kind of like feeling overwhelmed in that moment so
it's it's it's i know it's probably funny watching it back and being like damn it why didn't
i say something different but i mean that's why you get to come on podcasts and say your side of it
yeah exactly exactly it was it was very overwhelming and and deserved a much better response
than i i just vomited that out of my mouth like an idiot i don't i don't even know that i knew
that term, speaking your truth and being courageous. I've never said that in my whole life.
But yeah, I say it on national TV because I'm a friggin idiot.
That's hilarious. I know. Sometimes, you know, when you're put on the spot and somebody says
something to you that you aren't expecting, you say dumb shit. I've done it before.
Well, thank you. I'm glad you understand. We've all done it. Let's take a quick break and talk
about LaCroix sparkling water. It delivers refreshment flavor and sparkle with an innocent twist of
zero calories, zero sweeteners, and zero sodium.
There are 27 LeCroix flavors, and the newest additions to the family are limoncello

And let me tell you, these new flavors are some of my new favorites.
So delicious.
The Limoncello flavor is a hint of lemon and a smooth finish, which makes for such a
refreshing sip, and the past take, which, by the way, is French for watermelon, is just
perfect for summer.

Now back to Off the Vibe, Great Therapy.
So we're down to, yeah, we were down to four couples this week, and now there are three
heading into the finale.
I think it's pretty clear that all the couples at this point are pretty genuine and have
feelings for each other, but was there any point during the process a time where you
thought that other couples just might be going along with it for the sake of the show or
pretending their feelings were stronger than they actually were?
or was it as genuine as we're seeing?
I think that the connection that you're being formed,
I think that they're all very, very real.
Like we've been talking about throughout this,
it was a very stressful thing.
So it was hard not to find connections and like get drawn towards each other
and lean on each other for help.
The whole thing brought us all so close together.
So, yeah.
It is.
It's when you're in like such a unique situation,
there's such a, you know,
there's not a lot of people.
in life who can relate to what you're going through.
So it does,
it does for sure bring people closer.
And this is a super random question,
but I need to know.
Why are only guys in the house playing guitar and like instruments?
Do the girls not play instruments?
No, they did.
They,
they just didn't show a lot of it when we were kind of,
you know,
messing around around the house.
And I think for the actual performance nights,
I think the girls wanted to kind of have the mic and command the stage.
So I think holding a guitar or sitting at a piano kind of limits that from happening.
I get that.
I get that.
Also, people have said that you look like my boyfriend, Jason Tardick.
Do you know what he looks like?
Or have you seen him?
I just recently, yeah, I just recently heard that.
And somebody sent me like a side by myself.
Yeah, for sure.
You see it?
Yeah, I've seen him.
Somebody literally just sent it to me right before.
Yeah, but do you see the resemblance?
Yeah, yeah.
We could be brothers.
wait that's so funny i'm going to need to see a side by i haven't seen a side by side i just heard a couple
people say that and then i wanted to know what your thoughts are oh that's so funny um okay we're
going to play a quick game and then i have some questions from um from the off the vine listeners so
you have a choice okay you can either play the last which is like the last text you sent the last this
or you can plead the fifth
where I give you a couple questions and you have
to answer one of them.
Oh, God.
Let's do
the last.
The last? Okay.
Sounds good. All right.
The last concert you went to?
The last
concert I went to was an Alan Stone concert.
Oh.
Alan Stone?
Yeah.
Am I supposed to know who that is?
You probably not, but he's an amazing Neo Soul guy.
He's, he's, he's been blown up for a little while to check out his music.
Okay, I will.
I always like, I like new musicians.
Okay.
The last kiss you had.
You don't have to say with who, just the last one.
Like, when was it?
Yeah.
uh probably uh the few months ago okay i tried to trick you you didn't you didn't fall for it um okay
the last thing you searched on google oh man uh food like chicken wings near me
oh my gosh you are jason jason's obsessed with chicken wings i am i am so obsessed with chicken wings
you don't even know what really yeah that's so funny would you like skateboards or the or the clubs
skateboards are the what or what's the other thing you said okay flats or or the drumsticks oh oh flat i'm a
flat guy yeah yeah big time me too and then what do you dip it him i see i i i'm crazy i like it really
really hot so i get the hottest whatever the hottest thing is oh man yeah so but do you dip it in like
blue cheese or ranch or what yeah yeah yeah i'm a blue cheese guy oh my god you and jason would be such
good friends just i know it just from that right there um okay last text message you sent uh last
last text was probably i think to my mom uh saying you know saying she she she's been watching
all this and and you know she's a she's a proud mama so we have we have we have some nice
Sweet. Oh, that's nice. Okay. The last, I'm trying to pick a good one. The last time you had too much to drink.
Last night. Oh, yeah? What happened last night?
I had some, for some reason, for some reason, one of the guys in the band had bought a bottle of Hennessy. I don't, I don't even know why.
But we, yeah, it was disgusting. And my head, my head is killing me today. So, yeah. Oh, that's a tough go.
A funny story about Hennessy is on my season of Bachelorette, I had a date where we had a rap battle with a rapper.
God, I'm blanking on his name, Dougie Fresh.
Okay.
And we had a rap battle, and it was, I think, eight in the morning when I showed up to this to, like, start the date.
It was such an early day.
And I drank Hennessy from like eight in the morning until like five o'clock at night.
And I don't know how I survived to that.
But that just gives me a headache thinking about it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, man, you poor thing.
I just like, that's probably the one and only time I drank Hennessy.
And that's funny that that's what you drank last night because I'm like, oh, man,
I had the worst hangover from Hennessy.
Yeah, yeah, I think that was the first time I did too.
And yeah, it was brutal.
Yeah, I feel your pain.
And the last person that you have stalked on Instagram.
Ooh, last person I've stalked.
My Instagram skills are not that great.
I don't do much stalking, but probably, uh,
Uh, probably a musician.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, probably, probably, you know, looking up some new music.
Well, that's boring.
I know.
I'm boring.
I'm just kidding.
All right.
You probably remember me talking last week on the podcast about one of my favorite new brands,
Caldrea.
Caldrea is a consciously crafted home and body care brand that combines thoughtful ingredients
with delectable sense, making caring for ourselves and our homes a beautiful experience.
Caldrea's line of hand care product.
includes both hand soaps and moisturizing lotions that are incredibly effective,
thoughtfully formulated, and they smell amazing.
Their products use a combination of essential oils from flowers and herbs and other thoughtfully
chosen ingredients.
And they clean your hands effectively while allowing you to enjoy the luxurious fragrances.
My favorite scent at the moment is ginger pomello.
It's warm, it's bright, and the formula includes essential oils from grapefruit, one of my
favorites. Ginger and basil, to name a few. Every time I smell this fragrance, you guys, I'm
instantly in a good mood. I'm not even just saying that. It just gives myself a little bit of
luxury just by using the product. Plus, it feels good on my skin, whereas some products I've
used in the past kind of leave my hands feeling dry and not ideal. Not a worry when I use this
product. So get free shipping on orders of $50 or more when you buy online at caldrea.com. That's

Okay, we've got some questions from Twitter.
I have to grill you for a second because Emily Rira said, in hindsight, what would you
have said instead of literally nothing to Rudy after she was so vulnerable and expressed
how she was feeling about you?
So if you could go back, what would you have said?
I would have said that she means so much to me.
and that I might not be exactly where she's at right now,
but I'm willing to see what happens.
And I want to continue this whole journey with you.
Oh, see, there you go.
Redemption.
Would have been so much better if I just said anything like that, right?
Totally redeemed yourself.
Okay, Kelly wants to know favorite song to perform and why?
Oh, man.
One of my favorite songs to perform is,
Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra, I have my own arrangement of it. And it's one of the first
songs I remember listening to as a kid. And it's my mom's favorite song. So it's got a special
place to my heart. I'm like shaking my head and laughing right now. That's Jason's favorite song too.
No way. It seriously is. And he sings it every time he's in the shower. It's his go-to song.
It's his favorite song. He loves Frank Sinatra. And that's so.
funny that that's you guys have to be friends yeah yeah teresa wants to know um what you think of sheridan
and should he be the next bachelor i think i have nothing but nice things to say about sheridan he's
such a such a genuinely good guy and uh yeah i yeah he totally should be the you should be the next
president that i agree he seems like such a sweetie oh sheridan he really is he was uh he was right
next to me. He slept right next to me.
It's funny that you're a late sleeper and you like know all these guys like sleeping habits now.
I certainly do.
That's one thing you aren't that you don't have in common with Jason.
He is the deepest sleeper and the guy snores like a mother effer.
Okay.
I don't know what this Twitter name is.
Yo Ara Swish says, was Rudy his type or does he have a type?
And how do you feel now watching back and seeing the amazing chemistry you have with Rudy on stage?
I honestly don't really have a type.
I was definitely drawn to her from the second I saw her.
So there's that.
And then performance-wise, watching it back and being there,
I've never had such an amazing connection with somebody musically,
where everything just clicked and everything just made sense.
like we were like we were supposed to be making music together it was it was an incredible thing yeah
you guys do have the best um like your your voices do just totally click together and it's
like even if you don't end up together because obviously we don't know this yet can you still like
please make music together because that would be cool we we uh we 100% will be making music
together oh i love that okay great and then the last thing i'm going to have you do on this
podcast is give me your best confession something you need to get off your chest something
embarrassing that's happened to you in life that you haven't really shared with anyone
that you're going to that you're going to make headlines with on this podcast wow um
something embarrassing i um hmm i mean anything anything that you just need to confess and
be like you know what when i was 15 i pooped my pants on my first date
and and now that girl is sliding into my DMs because I'm on ABC.
Okay.
Okay, I have, something that I probably should confess is when I was in middle school,
I had a teacher, oh man, I shouldn't, I shouldn't even say this.
Yes, that's how I want every confession to start.
well okay so i had a teacher who i won't i won't name obviously she she would keep a
jar of frosting in her drawer this is a true this is a true story oh this is so this is
terrible human being i shouldn't say this um but i i in school i had so much ADD i i never was
looking down at my at my work i was always looking up everybody
and around, and I would see her sneak a little handfuls of frosting and put it into her mouth
in the middle of the class. So one time, I got into the class before she got there, and I might
have put a little Elmer's glue into the frosting. And I feel bad about it every day of my life
still to this day. So, you know what? I don't know. There you go. That's funny. That's a really,
really good confession and the fact that you feel bad about it makes me feel like I can forgive you
and thank you for confessing that you you are forgiven okay good thank you I needed to get that off my
chest yeah you can let it go now because it's once it's on off the vine and the world hears it
then you're like you know what I I told it I told my story I told my truth and and now you
it was very courageous of me very courageous of you to speak your truth
Oh gosh, that's amazing.
So what's going to be next for you and where can people find you?
Yeah.
So what's next is we have a lot of music coming out, my band.
I know that Rudy and I are going to be getting in the studio together and doing a lot of stuff as well.
But yeah, you guys could find my band called Brother Stone in the Get Down on YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, iTunes, all that good stuff.
And yeah, just follow along.
we're going to be putting out a lot of good music, a lot of good videos, and hopefully playing
a lot of good shows together very soon.
Yeah, seriously.
I do a tour with my podcast.
So when that happens again and I can go on tour for the podcast, we'll have to have you
when I come out your way and you guys can perform at my podcast.
I would absolutely love that.
Amazing.
Well, thank you so much for being on the podcast today, despite crappy internet service and
all of that. And I can't wait to see what happens next Monday for you and Rudy. Yeah. And thank you
so much for having me on. I can't wait to hear your new song that's coming out. Don't remind me.
I'm so nervous. But thank you for saying that. You can give me honest constructive criticism because
I need that from real musicians. I will do that. Okay. Thank you so much. And have a good,
what day is it today? I don't even know. Have a good rest of your week.
No idea.
Doesn't even matter.
Thank you.
All right.
