Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy.
And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels
so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experiencing Pride and Prejudice or you've read it a million times, you're going to fall absolutely in love all over again.
So go listen to Pride and Prejudice now at audible.ca slash Jane Austen.
We're on with OTV.
Podcast One Presents Off the Vine, Great Therapy.
Caitlin Bristow's going to answer your questions.
Drink to your confessions and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor.
Let's shake it up some more. Here's Caitlin.
Welcome to Great Therapy. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. Your session is starting now.
I really wish you could see my face right now because I'm making ridiculous faces to give you hints about who my guest today was, but you can't see me.
So I'm just going to tell you, it's facial expression, Justin Glaze, runner-up that we all loved and didn't get to see enough of from Katie's season.
I actually had so much fun with him because I made the entire episode like a game.
We did start off with some fun Paradise Recap because, gosh, that premiere was just so good.
And we get into some of those goods, but then we play 20-ish deep and not-so-deep questions with Justin
so that we could finally get to know him the way we wanted to and didn't get to see on the show.
So ladies in the lineup for Justin, get ready to learn all the juicy deets about him
and prepare to love him even more than before because he's so funny and sweet.
So time to swipe right on Justin.
Hi, Justin.
Oh my God.
I'm just kidding.
Did you see that one?
You were like in a full-blown, like,
pondering days.
Gazing out the window.
What were you thinking about?
That looked deep.
I know.
You know, I got to,
I still got the contemplation pose down.
You know what I mean.
That's what it looked like.
I was like, oh, my gosh.
It's so funny.
Okay.
Also, I was just sitting here and looking,
just like waiting for the Zoom to connect.
Look at the bottle of wine that the hotel sent up to us.
Shut up.
I've had that before.
This is like probably the most narcissistic thing I've ever done, but I bought that just because it had my name on it.
That's not.
I would do the same.
And I've had people come over like, oh, you have your own wine.
You know, I didn't tell you.
Oh, that's funny.
That's, I would do the same.
If there's a wine out there named Caitlin, I would buy it over my own wine label.
I'd be like, I was going to say the thing is you have your own wine.
So some of us are just impostors.
But it's cool to have your name on a bottle of wine.
I'll give you that.
Oh my gosh, it's good to see you.
I feel like every time I see you, I'm just like glammed up to the max.
And now I'm like, yay, I get to be in my sweats and just like talk normally with you and not, you know, deliver bad news.
You're still glowing.
Thank you.
It's, I mean, I did put a little makeup on it.
Yeah.
And it's good lighting.
You shouldn't have.
I know.
Every time I see you, it's like my heart's beating.
Like, oh, God, what she's about to drop on me?
So it's like, I don't know.
I don't know what you have prepared today, but...
It's all fun on this show.
It's so funny, because I used to feel that same way.
Like, I remember being on the show, and if Chris Harrison ever came into the room, I'd be like,
shit's about to go down.
I know.
Like, that's...
I'm like, oh, shit, now I'm that person that people are scared of.
Like...
Yeah.
Even I told Michael A, I was like, you got, like, sassy with me a couple times.
He got, like, like, he clapped back at me a couple times when I came in and brought, like, bad news.
I'd be like...
Oh, God.
I, because remember that one time, they didn't show it, but I was like, there's another guy coming in, and it was just Wells to bartend.
Oh, yes, yes, yes. I remember, yes. Oh, my gosh. At that point, I was just like, I bring it on. Like, what's that? You guys were all so mad. And I was like, guys, it's just Wells. But Michael, I was like, we have enough great guys here. And I was like, I remember that. I remember that. Yes. I was like, Michael. Oh.
He got sassy.
It was like the sweetheart that got sassy.
You played it well, though, because you definitely had me.
I was like, okay, another one.
Because we've never had just like, well, in the past couple seasons,
I guess when they've brought extra people,
it's never been just like one.
So at that point, I honestly wasn't going to be surprised.
Yeah, you're like, anything can happen.
Oh, Jason, he's his way.
What's going on, Jason? How are you doing?
I don't think he can hear you.
Let's get ready soon.
Oh, yeah.
Wait, where in the world are you right now?
Are you home?
No, I'm in New York right now.
Oh, fun.
What are you doing?
I'm in New York.
Just hanging out.
Nice.
I'm thinking about moving here, so I'm trying to, you know, test out this city a little bit.
Yeah.
Love one more, but there's so many, like, pros and concerts for me.
Like, I don't know, I'm being so extra, but like, I love just, like, driving around, like, lighting up the ox cord, right?
And I'm like, I lose that here, you know?
and I have so much stuff in my house back home that I would definitely have to like
downsize and like get rid of a lot of like clothes and like for me so like at home I have like a
whole separate room where I do my artwork and stuff like that and I'm just like in New York like
it's that kind of you know it's just like a lot of things going through my mind but it's such a
great city well moving I feel like moving is also like so life altering like it changes
everything so you probably are like almost in like your safe place.
at home where you're like do I step outside of my safe place and make a big change and then you
start thinking about everything that goes into it so that's pretty normal that you're doing that
I would say but I feel like yeah this is like the point in my because I've been wanting to move for
years but like my majority of my family's home like I know the city in and out and I'm so
comfortable but like I feel like I need to to branch out and you know try something new yeah so
we'll see it's it's such an easy train ride to get back home
which is good, but yeah, I know. I'm just like, I'm such a nerd. Like, every time I step outside,
I'm like on Google Maps, like, where I'm like such a tourist. I'm like, which do I know?
Those really stand out in New York, too. You're like, if you're not a New Yorker, get the hell out of the way.
But that's, you'd adjust quick. But that there's two things I say in life that, like, really
help me grow as a person. It was moving away from home and going on the Bachelor. So you're going to
really grow as a human. Yeah, this is the perfect time.
two, I feel like get that fresh start somewhere coming off of this.
Totally.
But yeah, I've almost gotten hit by like three cars here.
People are like somebody get the hell out of the way.
So like I'll have to adjust quickly if I move out here.
Yes, you have to learn quickly to survive there.
That's so funny.
I was going to ask you if you're just so sick of talking about your time on the show
because I feel like every interview, it's like, let's talk about your facial expressions
and why you didn't get a lot of air time.
I only have one question about that time on the show,
and then I've got a fun game to play.
Okay, okay, like that.
So my one question is, obviously, did not see enough,
and we all know that, but did your parents watch back this season?
Because I know they were like, can you really fall in love and you're upset, you know,
and they didn't come.
Did they watch back and believe more in the process or see a change in you?
they were definitely more so on the skeptical side at first, right?
And they're more, you know, and it was an interesting conversation before I even went on
because they're kind of more traditional in the way they approach things, right?
Like, you know, both college got their masters, you know, good jobs.
And, you know, that's the path that I've gone as well.
But I feel like I'm the type of person where I'm, you know, I'm more so willing to take some risks in life and, you know, kind of, you know, better myself and,
take a chance, you know, and that's just my personality. That's how I've always been. And so,
you know, I explain that to them. Um, you know, my dad's more so in like the, okay, like,
the logical, like, you know, give me your reasons why you want to do this. You know,
you're a growing man. Cool. Do it. My mom's like the protective, like, what do people say
mean things about you on the internet and, you know, all this? You know, like your privacy is going
to be gone, you know, and that's where she was coming from. And so it was just a conversation of
explaining why I wanted to do it.
and letting her know that like, listen, like, you got to trust me.
I know what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm getting myself into, but like,
I'm okay with betting on myself and seeing how things unfold.
And it's funny, they, you know, they kind of did a, my mom did a 180.
And it's like a week before we were leaving and she's like all excited.
She's like, my co-workers are talking all about it.
Like, this is kind of cool, huh?
And I'm like, now I'm the one about to shoot my fans.
Like, I'm getting nervous.
We're like a week out.
Like, I was excited before.
Now I'm like, I don't know if I can do this.
And she's all excited.
like we kind of flipped. But then, you know, watching, you know, coming home, you know, as I said at AFR,
I came home and, you know, I didn't talk to anybody for a couple of days, you know, just letting
things process. And I just, you know, I just wasn't in the space to want to talk to anybody.
And when I went home to talk to them, you know, I sat my parents down and I wanted to kind of fill
them in on some of the tough conversations that I had with Katie because up into that point,
I quite honestly had not even had those conversations with them. And it was so tough.
I remember being, you know, in my room changing before the night portion.
And I was just freaking out, like, you know, I don't want this to come off.
Like, I'm just saying things for TV.
And it's just like, but at this point in the relationship, like, I have to talk about things that are important to me and my family and, you know, kind of explained to her why I'm the way that I am.
And so I was freaking out because, like I said, I had not talked to my parents about a lot of this stuff.
And so I did.
And obviously, you know, when I went home, I was like, hey, guys, like, I just want to warn you like, these are some of the things I talked about.
And then, you know, it wasn't just for TV.
Like, I was really dating this girl.
And, you know, and I was so nervous, but, you know, they understood and, you know, they asked me, you know, what are some of the things that I took from this?
And, you know, opening up and just not being afraid to have those conversations, my mom's like, like, I've, even today, like, you would never do this before.
So if this is one of the things that you've taken from this, then I'm so grateful that you went on, you know, the show.
Yeah.
Because, you know, she would always ask me.
I never opened up about like my personal life, like my dating life.
I just never talked my parents about it.
And, you know, they would always ask me, you know, what are your paintings mean?
And I would just be like, I'll tell you, like, so I didn't want to talk about it.
Everything I just, I just kept up here.
And my mom, like, before I left, she was like, hey, by the way, like, can you tell me?
Because I was taking, I kept some of my paintings at their house.
And she asked me, and I was just like, oh, yeah.
And I explained it.
She was like, Justin, I've been asking you for years to explain your paintings and you never
have.
And she was like, thank you.
Like, she was like,
she was just like kind of blown away. She was like, wow. And then, you know, I went home and she called me and she was like, she was pretty emotional. She was like, she was like, listen, like, I want to let you know, like I really appreciate you coming over and talking to us because I've been able to reflect on some things. And, you know, you're never too old to, you know, stop growing. You know, we can always be working to get better. And I was just, I did not expect that to be a byproduct of, you know, coming on this show. So it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was.
really cool. I love that because the show really does if you're there that long too. Like it does
open you up to so many feelings and talking about your feelings and it becomes like therapeutic
because you're like, oh, this is what happens if I talk about things. I actually feel better
and people relate to me and understand me. And then you realize how how therapeutic it can be
for yourself. I feel like so many people feel that same way after coming out the show.
Okay, so that was my only question about that.
And then I want to know what your predictions are for Bachelor of Paradise.
Or do you know too much?
Because did you watch last night?
I did watch last night.
I did watch.
Do you get like FOMO?
Do you wish you were on the beach making out with girls?
No.
No, okay.
You're human-justin.
Why would I want to do that?
Sounds terrible.
Nothing about that sounds fun or appealing.
No.
Everybody's so, like, unattractive.
there and like, gosh, David Spade's not even funny. He's not funny at all. Where'd they find that guy?
I had to look, I had to look him up. Yeah, Google. David, who? Yeah. No, I, um, so it's funny. Like,
I, I have FOMO from the standpoint of like, it's like crazy, like, senior boys up there and, you know, some of the
people that you know, I'm okay with my decision not to go. Yeah. Just because for me, I knew, I knew I wasn't
in a place to, I didn't want to be like a shell of myself and like not have my full personality
and like kind of in the back of my head be there, but not be present and not actually be
there.
So like I'm okay with not going to kind of sitting back and like being stress free just because I remember
the anxiety of watching myself.
So like I'm okay with like, yeah, taking a break from that.
Yeah, that's, yeah.
It was funny to watch because it, you know, Bachelor of Paradise is already so funny.
But I think they're now realizing like, let's.
laugh at ourselves with the show and they're making it more funny, which I love.
I find it so entertaining.
Like, David Spade was hilarious.
Love Wells.
The cast is absolute fire and we're like still only at the beginning.
There's going to be more people coming in.
I just, everybody's been so cooped up and also they like want to make good TV.
So they're just so extra.
And some people are so genuine.
And I just, I found that so.
Serena P. I always, I remember saying this on Matt James season, but she is so mature for 23.
Like me at 23 was much different than Serena P at 23. Like, let me tell you. She's just so mature.
Yeah, I didn't know she was 23. I had no clue. But yeah, that's the cool thing. Like, I would, like, people love to see, like, the full personalities, you know, and the funny stuff.
Like, it doesn't always have to be just so serious and dry, you know? Like, I think you need that good mix of, I'm
the relationships developing the serious sincere genuine side of people but you need like the funny
like blooper moments as well you know you need it all and yeah so i think i think it'll be good yeah yeah
it's so i feel like the main takeaways i took away from it was joe is just must be protected at all
cost he's such a gem and like it's it was so hard to see him like just be so i don't know like
insecure but then find his little way at the end and they were so cute he's just such a genuine
person and then also um little john's voice commentating like that's it's perfect i didn't even like
he's supposed to do that job yes he was meant for that david was hilarious um and victoria
the queen has died and now she is a goddess and i got us yes can't even handle it it was it was the
crown toss for me. Yeah. Or the tiara toss. The tiara toss. Yeah. She's just, she's so, I mean, extra, I guess is
the best word to describe a lot of these people. Demi's so extra. And she's coming, she's coming,
Demi's coming in hot. Demi's coming in hot. Blasing. Wasting no time. No. It's so funny. Who are you
excited to watch or like couples you're excited to see? I'm excited to see Serena and Joe.
Yeah. I think that could be such a cool story.
see i've had like friends that kind of fill me in because i don't i didn't know about his his past
relationship okay yeah yeah but but no i think that'll be that'll be cool to see how that unfolds
and when his ex comes that'll stir some things up oh my gosh yeah so i think that'd be interesting
i don't think anybody wants to like they were like talking about having family and
broke up because i don't think they broke up because they didn't love each other i think they
broke up because they just could not like settle on the same city and had like different goals so to like walk
into the beach and have your ex who is like almost like you know your husband yeah you make it out
with some new little young thing i'd be like tv hopper yeah i know i know i know i know so yeah i'm
interested in how that goes yeah what oh oh i think noa and abigail that should be interesting
I didn't know much about Noah from and this see here's the cool thing because like when Noah came in for Tatia's right like kind of got like that I don't want to say bad rap but he was like in the drama because of you know the whole Bennett thing so like you see somebody in that light and like that's all you get right but like from what we saw last night it's like oh like okay this guy's fun like let's see more of that you know and I think we'll you know we'll we'll see but like you said Abigail you know has been known as like just like
shy nice girl and I don't know that she loves that so it's like okay let's see paradise she can branch out
shows the full personality and I think that's the beauty of paradise is like you're not just confined
to like what the bachelor bachelor bachelor's portrayed you as or the side of you that they showed
you can be more of your full self so that'd be interesting to see I totally agree I feel like
David spade wrapped it up perfectly when he said looking forward to the chaos I'm like that's how I feel
about this whole season I know I don't know complete chaos is it going to be a cat boy summer
yeah oh my god is connor gonna get his groove back
Connor doesn't lose his groove okay that's fair
but uh I mean he hey what I will say
he didn't shy away from from going back in with the uh with the makeouts
I know he's hilarious he didn't shy away
he kills me he said I'm gonna need a second opinion
yeah that's I'm gonna need a second opinion
and then he got his like third opinion at um men tell all
Oh, right.
Yeah, it's hilarious.
He makes me laugh.
That was the wildest thing I've ever witnessed.
I was like, what the hell is happening?
I was at home like, what?
I know.
I know.
Did that really just happen?
Okay, so I have quick first date questions with Justin
because we're going to get to know you like we wanted to on the show, okay?
First of all, yeah, have a severe coffee because it's going to get crazy.
These are deep questions.
okay.
What is your middle name?
Oh, this is not exciting.
It's Mark.
It's my dad's name.
Oh, that's, I mean, that's why I asked.
I just didn't know.
Justin Mark Glaze.
That's a good name.
Remind me how many siblings you have?
One older brother.
One older brother.
Okay.
He was so offended that I did not bring him up.
during my hometown because I was like I was like yeah I'm a little disappointed my parents could
come he's like oh I guess you're an only child huh like ah that's my bad so he does exist
that's what what's his name Alex Alex shout out Alex we wish we could have seen your face
on our screens um okay best and worst flavor ice cream okay uh oh this is good I'm gonna get
get some heat um are we going are we going basic flips I have a huge sweet tooth and we
have a place downtown with like an abundance of flavors so i can get crazy with the flavors or i can
keep it like no get crazy with the flavors okay so back home they have um a samoa flavor like
the girl scout cookie oh wow and it is to die for i don't even like ice cream which that's where
i'm going to get some heat i know it's the weirdest thing in the world i don't like it it's just
it's weird you're scooping cream like thick heavy cream no no
give me it all. Do you like gelato? It's better. Okay, we'll talk. We'll talk.
Okay, maybe I need to try this Girl Scout cookie ice cream because that does sound incredible.
Yeah, I think so to me and this, I'm going to get some meat, so I apologize in advance.
But if you're mad, make sure you at me so I can clap back. I think the one of the weirdest flavors is mint chocolate chip.
Oh, I feel like. If I want a dessert, like I, if I want a dessert, like,
it's like I'm eating cold toothpaste for what I it's kind of weird actually agree with you on that I've never understood mint flavor anything that's not gum because first of all you're scooping cream which we already know I have a problem with and then you're making it mint flavored you why yeah I'm with you on that oh my gosh my podcast producer is so mad right now I knew I told I was going to be some heat yeah
You know what?
Add us and we will clap back because I will clap back.
I will defend this to the death.
Yeah, me too.
I'm going to do some like research on like, I feel like there's probably an online Reddit thread about this.
And I'm going to like get some fighting points to clap back at these.
I feel like this is like mint chocolate chip is like the debate like pineapple and pizza is.
I feel like.
Which is how do you feel about that?
So here's the thing.
um like i'm not i would never order like a Hawaiian pizza okay you know if i was stranded
on an island and it's in front of me i'm not going to starve myself i'm going to eat it okay
but i'm not going to go out of my way to order it you know that's how i feel about ice cream
okay yeah okay that's fair that's fair i don't think most people think that's fair oh yeah i'm a
i'm a reasonable guy that's fair okay thank you i appreciate
that. Yeah. I only got Hawaiian pizza growing up and I was like, wait, I've been missing out
on so many other delicious pizzas that now I never order Hawaiian pizza because it feels like
something I only ate as a kid. What? So you grew up in a family that actively ordered
Hawaiian pizza? Actively. Still does.
I know. Where are you from?
La Duke, Alberta, Canada. Very small town. Oh, you really? I did not know that.
You didn't know as Canadian? I didn't. I didn't. Oh, well. No.
No, one do you like Blake more than me?
I knew there was something.
Wait a second.
Who said?
You just made that up right now.
Dead eye.
Wait, that's so funny.
I, nope, I never said that.
I never said that once.
And that's why I haven't had him on my podcast.
Okay.
Okay, ice cream and Blake.
Those are two things we're fighting about.
This is Austin Vine Grape Therapy.
What's the most incredible trip you've ever taken?
Ooh, okay.
So right after I graduated, with Herb, actually, who was one of my friends that came,
we did a little European tour.
So we went to like eight different countries.
We started in London.
Then we went to Amsterdam.
We did, this is out of order.
We went to a couple places in Germany.
We did Venice, Italy.
We did Paris, Switzerland, Austria, and I'm forgetting one more.
But it was amazing.
Yeah, that sounds amazing.
Wow.
I love Europe.
There's just, it's just everyone is doing it right over there, I feel like.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
Where's your favorite place you've been?
Probably Italy, like the Positano.
I feel like that was probably my favorite place I've ever been
or Iceland was really cool
I like we rented a car and we saw everywhere in Iceland
and we went glacier hiking and like did it all
it was really really cool
it was so cool because when we went it was during the time
of the European Cup for soccer
and we were like in the city of ever like just the timing of it
we were in the city of like the team that was playing
if that makes sense like so when we were in Paris
like France was playing when we were in Germany like Jeremy.
That's awesome.
And we, I remember being in a restaurant when Germany was on and it's like me,
Herb and like some other friends and we're like eating a little vener-snitzel.
And some and like I think Herb is like, of all people, of course, Herb.
He like gets up and I think he yanked the cord from the TV.
So all the TVs go out and the Germans just look at us and we're like, oh,
drenched in sweat.
Like, oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
you don't do that they don't play no no no no no so it was like panic panic panic her plug it in yeah
did you plug it back in and everything was fine that's yeah yeah it ended up being okay but for
those couple of minutes it felt like a lifetime of just being like like like death stares well
i'm glad that herb is still with us today uh grateful very grateful praise be very grateful oh my gosh
that's that's yeah i would have had even i would have had even less of a hometown lord knows like
all the help I could get.
Oh, God, you're such a good sport.
That's so bad.
Well, maybe next paradise, I feel like you should go on.
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll see.
What's your favorite holiday?
Basic as hell, but Christmas.
Oh, me too.
Hands down.
I don't understand how anyone could like anything more than Christmas.
I mean, obviously, if you're Jewish or, like, don't celebrate Christmas, fine.
But Christmas is hands down, my favorite holiday.
I feel like Mike P. would say Easter.
Why?
No, mine.
Oh, is he quite religious?
Caitlin!
Oh, Mike P.
Sorry, I was thinking Mike A.
Oh, Mike B, yeah, yeah.
Oh, okay, yeah, of course.
Okay.
What is your favorite type of flower?
Okay, so I'm going to passively aggressively say a rose,
because apparently everyone on the internet makes fun of me
because they think I can only paint roses.
So I'm going to double down and say,
yep, it's a rose.
My favorite flower.
Clap back.
I love it.
I love it, okay?
Hey, I have a rose tattooed on my arm.
Can we get matching ones?
Yeah.
It's my favorite tattoo, actually,
and I used to hate roses,
but then I was like, wait,
this is such a symbol that changed my life in the best way,
and I have to embrace the roses.
Okay.
I love that.
I know. I feel like I'm itching for some. I'm itching for some ink.
Do a rose. Do a rose. I won't be, you can even do it in the same spot as me. I won't be mad at you.
I was going to.
Okay, good. Glad me had this conversation.
When and how did you get into painting?
Honestly, as far back as I can remember, since I was probably no why, like five or six years old.
So my earliest memory of doing any type of drawing or anything was,
was my grandfather and my grandmother used to travel all the time.
And so my grandfather was just coming back from a trip.
He went to Egypt.
And so I remember he sat me down.
I was in his office.
I'm sitting across from him.
I don't know why.
I just had a piece of paper and like some crayons and colored pencils, whatever.
And he's, and I swear, six years old, he's telling me about the trip, like, showing me photos and everything.
And I'm just sitting there as he's like narrating everything.
I'm sitting there.
He still has the picture.
He's sitting there and I'm just drawing out.
scene of him like scaling a pyramid and like I don't know how I like knew how does all like a sphinx and
like these mummies and like all this stuff and yeah it's he still has it um and I was just drawing
everything out and then I would just draw stuff for my family and then my mom would take my stuff
into because my mom's um she just retired um child to my mom she was a teacher and she would take
my artwork in and you know show her co-workers and her art teacher was like how old your son?
And then next thing, I know I was like in these like special art programs and stuff.
And I was like art competitions for my county.
And I just stuck with it all these years.
And it's just been.
Yeah.
It's literally in your blood.
That's amazing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I don't know where I don't know where it comes from because nobody in my family,
you know, draws or paints.
It's just.
Really?
Yeah.
My grandma was an artist.
And that's like all we did as kids with her growing up.
We just painted everything all the time.
And she was so, so talented.
It was cool.
Do you know what kind she liked to use?
I didn't.
Oh, I have no idea.
But she painted, like, everything.
Like, we still have mugs and plates.
She would paint on those.
And she would do, like, actual paintings.
But she painted on everything, and it was...
That's so cool.
Yeah, it was really cool.
That's sweet.
I love art.
Okay, switching gears.
What's your favorite smell?
One of them is gasoline.
Oh, I weirdly like that smell.
Like, I don't know why that's the first one that came to mine.
I've been in New York too long.
That's so interesting.
Goes to New York once.
I love to smell gasoline.
Literally, there's some of the worst smells I've ever smelled coming out of New York, and yours is gasoline.
Yes.
Yes, one of the more delightful ones, if there has to be one.
But I do like gasoline.
But if we're talking like candles, I haven't come across with a gasoline-scented
candle but if we're talking candles so there's just one candle that i love it's called cypress woods
but i also like a like a good like warm vanilla sugar um yeah christmas cookie from yankee candle candle
oh hell yeah that's a good one that's a good one yeah i feel like it changes it changes
with the season okay fair but i i i keep a candle lit in my house i keep a candle lit oh me too at all
times actually i can't believe mine's not look at this one is also one of my favorites it's called pink
sands oh that's like it's probably it's light i've smelled that before it's delightful
you will find me on a sad on a saturday midday you will find me unapologetically going down the aisles
of home goods sniffing candles 100 percent i stay in home goods
i feel that i definitely feel that um okay what household chore do you
hate the most. Do I hate the most? I swear I'm not lying, but my mother had me and Alex doing
chores from the youngest, like as far, like, I just remember like going to bed Friday. She's like,
okay, we're cleaning the house tomorrow. We're like, no. We wake up and like, we're like cleaning
bathrooms, like vacuuming, like everything. Yeah. But my least favorite, I think the easy answer is
like cleaning a toilet, but like I never have a dirty toilet. So it's not like, I'm not walking into
like a public restaurant you know what I mean fair enough that's you don't have to have one that's fine
that's I appreciate your cleanliness okay I have a few would you rather's would you rather live
full time in an RV or on a sailboat I just had a flashback to Jeff um sailboat
oh you sailboat okay yeah yeah Jeff no cancel drink nothing but coffee or soda for the rest of
your life coffee all the way coffee yeah yeah I'm
the same ice coffee i have a thing about coffee where i will only drink ice coffee and i think it's
weird for people who like in the middle of the summer yes i might be talking to you if it's the
middle of summer it's hot as hell outside you're telling me you're walking to starbucks and getting a
piping hot coffee kaitland yes because there's no shot it's science backed if you you're drinking
a warm beverage in the heat cools down your body temperature what it's a fact
I'm going to have to do some research.
That's fine.
We've got to make a list.
Yeah, we've got some things to hash out here.
We really do.
This might have to be a two-part podcast.
Yeah, right.
So following up what are.
Yeah.
Okay, yeah, I'll have to look into that one.
Okay, my favorite question to ask people on every podcast, what is a confession?
What is the most embarrassing thing that you can remember that's happened to you?
okay so i'm glad you said embarrassing because i have one that people may think's embarrassing
that i'm very proud of okay but an embarrassing one yeah fun fact i tore my ACL and broke my
jaw within three weeks of each other how so i well i appreciate you i appreciate you for not
laughing because that's people's that's usually people's first reaction like i tell them that and
they're like laughing in my face i'm like my pain brings you
You joy, you monster.
So I tore my ACL playing football, and then I went to the hospital, like, a couple days
before my scheduled surgery to get, you know, like, lab work done.
And, like, I'm not afraid of needles, like, when it comes to shots and, like, tattoo, whatever,
but, like, something about, like, drawn blood.
I am so squeamish.
I hate it.
So I went, and, you know, of course, they call the night before they're, like, don't
eat anything past nine, don't drink or anything in the morning.
So I'm already, like, hungry.
and like I get pretty hangary.
So I'm like in a bad, I'm like, so they sit me down and they draw so much blood.
I swear I'm not being a baby.
They drew so much blood.
This is how you broke your dog, tore your ACL, you fainted?
Yes, but it's worse because like usually when you pass out, like I feel like you would just like
kind of like crumble, right?
But like I was on crutches.
So I stood up and I'm crutching my way down the hallway and my dad was next to me.
And I was like, hey, like I started seeing the twinkles.
I was like, oh no.
And I was getting hot.
So I was like, hey, dad.
I was like, can you, like, see if you can give me some water.
And he was like, yeah, I'll be right back.
And that's the last I remember.
He said he turned around.
And because I was on my crutches, I just, like, fell straight on my chin.
And I remember waking up and, like, nurses are just like, there's like trashkins in my face.
And I'm like, it's like blood everywhere.
And I was trying to talk.
And my dad was like, stop trying to talk, stop.
And I didn't know what happened.
Next thing I know, like, I'm on a bed, on a stretcher.
I had surgery that night to, like, put my jaw back in place, had my jaw wired shut for a month.
I was on like a full liquid diet.
Yeah.
So there was like a Kanye West song through the wire.
I drink a boost for breakfast and inches with a dessert.
That was me for a month.
I listened to that song on repeat.
Yeah.
God, that is tragic.
I'm so sorry that happened to you.
Thank you.
Nobody ever says that.
They're like, ha, ha, ha.
Oh, no, that like breaks my heart for you.
That's really sad.
And that you should be embarrassed.
I'm just kidding.
It was very embarrassed.
It was like, oh my, having the jaw was worse than the ACL, like, oh, yeah, I can imagine.
My teachers were happy, though, because I used to talk a lot in class, and I could, I quite
literally couldn't.
So maybe that's where the facial expression started, because I just, like, couldn't talk.
I just, like, reacted to everything in the back of class.
I don't know.
Wait, we figured it out.
That's what happened.
I didn't figure it out until now.
Wow.
You know what?
If you went on the show for any reason, it was to come on this podcast and, you know,
and figure that out for yourself.
Figure it out.
Yes.
That was a win.
So we said we weren't going to talk about it.
And inevitably, we did.
Yeah, but we're moving on.
But we're moving on.
Moving on.
What is something that you're proud of?
Oh, man, we're switching years.
I know.
I'm all over the mouth here.
Wait until I get to my next one.
I'm proud of, like, the person that I'm, like, developing into.
Totally.
And I have this experience to thank because I know how I was before all of
and, you know, like, stepping into that arena, I didn't know that I was going to be challenged
and kind of, it's like one thing where it's like, you know you want to change certain things
about you, but when you're thrown into that and you like, kind of like, you have the choice,
obviously, but like, like, like I said, I wasn't going to leave anything on the table.
So I was just like, listen, like, like, I got to, I got to do these things.
And like, it has forced me, just like being in this light, right?
Like I, I would care a lot about what people like said and thought of me.
and when you're here, like, you just don't have the, like, you, I can't, I don't have the mental
capacity to devote any time or effort to, like, what people say about me, you know, so it's just
helped me in that regard.
It's helped me, like, like I, like I've said before, to just kind of like, you know, open up
and, you know, just, yeah, I'm so, yeah, that's, I like that answer.
Yeah.
I like that answer a lot.
I feel like that's, you should be proud of that.
And I, that's something like a lot of people go through life, you know,
kind of like always bearing thoughts and feelings or thinking they're supposed to be a certain
way or go a certain path and when you can open yourself up like that and see your own potential
and like who you are as a person and get to know yourself and feel things it's life changing
so i know that sounded like kind of selfish and i don't want it to come off like that but
it did not sound selfish at all i was like that's so sweet i like that but what but like part of that
is also the fact that through all of that growth it's going to
make me better for the people that I surround myself with, the people that I care about,
whether that be friends, family, and, like, whoever I'm my significant other in the future,
right? Because it's not just about, like, me growing for me, but it's like, how can I be a
better person, you know, for other people that I care about as well, you know? So it's just like a
all around, like, positive. I love that. I think that's a great answer. I don't even want to
ask you more questions because I feel like that's a good one to leave it on. But I'm going to
ask one more. Okay. Two more.
first one's really quick. Morning or night person? Night. Me too. Okay. And the last one is
favorite song in the whole world. Honestly, one of my favorite songs in the whole world is Adorned by
Miguel. Ooh. I'm a big Miguel guy. Big Miguel guy. I am too. I like his music. I love
Miguel, yeah. Okay, that's cool. That's all I have for you, Justin. Was that was that fun? Did you have a good
time? Yes. Time flies. Even, even when we're fighting, we're having fun. I know. I can't wait
to hash these out later. I know. I can't say that about too many people. You know, like, hey,
I can't wait to fight with you again. Yeah, that was fun. Let's do it again sometime. Yeah,
it was a great, great argument. I mean, it was over ice cream and I don't even remember the other
thing, so. We agreed on gasoline. It was ice cream. Oh, it was the coffee. Oh, yeah. It was the coffee.
Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay, I'm going to send you some articles. Yeah, please do.
You might be onto something, though, because I know, like, liquid temperature, like, room temperature water hydrates you faster. I know that. And I think it's one of those things. Like, you know, like, if you're out in, like, the Sahara Desert, if you wear, like, all black clothing, it's like a thing to, like, cool you down because you sweat. So, like, you might be onto something. I'm on to something. I'm telling you. I get that you think I might be a serial killer after that, but also I'm going to prove you wrong. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. The combination of the pineapple pizza and this hot coffee and I guess, like, you know, I have to send me some article.
I have to go
