Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Grape Therapy: Swolu Olu owning Men Tell All with a side of Vicks VapoRub

Episode Date: December 9, 2021

On today’s episode, Kaitlyn sits down with sweet-angel-of-a-man Olu. They say a man with sisters makes a great partner, so the fact Olu has five of them definitely makes a lot of sense. Olu... chats with Kaitlyn about growing up in New Jersey where he was both a basketball star and a member of the anime club (of course), how he had such great style all season, which celebrity crush he wants to roll in the deep with, and how you can get as swoll as he is. They also chat about who he would hypothetically want to see on the beaches Paradise (it’s definitely not who you think!), his biggest shock from being on the show, and, finally, where NOT to rub Vicks VapoRub. Starting point is 00:00:00 Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story. Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge, there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice. And Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am. It's not just any audiobook. This is a full cast performance. So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry, brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
Starting point is 00:00:25 And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdads Sing is Mr. Darcy. And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything. Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix. Talk about a dream cast. Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world, her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics, and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy. And with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer, it just feels so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.

Starting point is 00:03:10 We're on with OTV. Podcast One presents off the vine, Grace Therapy. Caitlin Bristow's going to answer your questions, drink to your concessions, and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor. Let's shake it up some more.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Here's Caitlin. Welcome to Grape Therapy. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. Your session is now starting. Today I had one of our absolute favorite men from Michelle's season. Olu, aka Swolu, he is even more fascinating than I thought he was after getting to talk with him. One of the real ones from her show. And even though he won't get to be The Bachelor, Won't, like many of us had hoped he would be.
Starting point is 00:03:54 We might get to see him on the beaches of paradise. I'm not sure, but I just feel like I got some hints, you know? He's a man who will protect the women in his life like gold and also a man that will surprise you with one hell of a confession you did not see coming. So please enjoy it this time with the sweetest little angel pie, Olu and I. Hi, Olu. Hey, Caitlin. Hi, how are you? I'm good. We off the vine today.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Yeah, we are. I love it. I'm so excited to have. you. I'm glad you're, you know, you invited me here. It's an honor. Oh my gosh. You're so cute. You not only survived, but you thrived last night on the Mentel. I got to see it firsthand. But you were just so good in your orange suit and you were just like, you held it in at the right times and let it out at the right times and it was just perfect. Did you have fun that night or was it just as crazy as I thought it was? Oh, man. I knew it was going to be really crazy. You know, I just had a brace and
Starting point is 00:04:56 be prepared for any scenario, any moment. You know, I was just being ready for, you know, Martin and Chris, you know, just in case they target me because, you know, I had a lot to say throughout the season. So, you know, I just had to be prepared. Yeah, I know. I feel like you got to, like, keep your head on a swivel with those two because they were actually quite quiet that night of the Ventilal. I was like, oh, maybe they learned their lesson because I think maybe watching back can
Starting point is 00:05:23 sometimes be humbling and put you in your play. and be like, oh, okay, I was actually a little shit. I should have done that differently. So I found them to be quite quiet last night. Oh, yeah, they weren't ready for smoke at all. They weren't ready for that. They weren't. I feel like we didn't get to see enough of Olu on the show,
Starting point is 00:05:43 or I should say, Swoloo. First of all, who came up with the nickname Swol? Look, what is that? It's my bachelor's degree. You know, they said I got a low IQ. I think it was Chris, right? Yeah. You're like, actually,
Starting point is 00:05:58 this is my bachelor's from, from Rutgers University, you know, one of the most prestigious schools out there in the country. I love it. We're not done, though. Oh, hell. My master's degree right here. Oh, this is gold.
Starting point is 00:06:12 See, this is the stuff we don't get to see on TV, so we do it on off the vine. Yeah. I'm proud of you. I'm a pretty smart guy, you know. I mean, I knew that. I think the world knows that. It's just the little dingalings who don't know that.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Yeah, you know, we didn't, me and Chris, unfortunately, we didn't have much of a conversation. So, I mean, he probably thought I was just a gym rat, you know, who just focused on weights. So, you know, hey. You got, you got both, you got brains and the brawn. For sure, for sure. I love it. That's, okay, I think people, or Chris at least thought that because, I mean, your nickname is literally swoleu because you're just so swole. Did you? Who came up with that nickname or was that self-proclaimed?
Starting point is 00:06:59 Oh, man. I think it was Rodney. It might have been Rodney or Nate. I can't really remember. Sounds like something both of them would come up with. Honestly, honestly, I didn't. I didn't like the name from the beginning. Stop, you didn't. I swear on everything. I didn't like the name. How come? It just, it sounded, it sounded weird. I'm used to hearing Big O, you know, because when I'm from guys call me Big O. And that stem from basketball. You know, I played basketball throughout my life. I played college ball at Rutgers University. So I've been known as Big O because I'm just like a nightmare on the court.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And I'm like a big guy. So, you know. That big O. Okay, well, but did it grow? Did the name grow on you? It did. Like, I just started accepting it. You know, guys, they seem happy to call me swolew.
Starting point is 00:07:50 So I'm like, all right, just call me that. It's cool. I love it. I feel like I feel like I. I always refer to you as that now. I heard it for the first time when we're sitting on the sidelines with the teddy bear fight.
Starting point is 00:07:59 And I was like, that is so perfect. And it just goes, I was like, that must have been his, like, name for a long time because it just seemed so right. But anyways, I'm glad you leaned into it. Oh, yeah. I'm glad to, I'm glad too. I'm glad too. And shout out to the guy.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Shout out to everybody. There you go. I feel like you felt like such an integral part of Michelle's journey, having all the absolute, like, best intentions and looking out for her in the exact right moments when someone needed to, we all feel like you're a real one. So I wanted to know if you were afraid that if you said something to her, that it would use up your time talking with her, if you thought that would maybe come back and bite you
Starting point is 00:08:38 in the butt, or if you were like, no Michelle respects honesty, and I'm just going to tell her how I'm feeling. Me, I'm one of those guys. I've never really watched, like, previous seasons of The Bachelorette or Bachelors. So I'm just hearing a few days ago that it's like it's almost like a culture where like if one person rats on a person, then they get sent home instantly. So, you know, at that moment, it just, it felt like it was right. It was the right thing to do. You know, I was, you know, looking around. I saw other guys receive their one-on-one. So I was at that moment, you know, I was like almost like the weakest link in a sense, you know. I kind of felt like my days. would possibly be numbered and I'll be sent home. But anyway, I just felt like it was the right thing to do.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I had to make sure she has a right group of men in front of her. I think she probably, like, knew your heart and your intentions. I think sometimes when people are rats, like you can already tell their kind of rats. Like, Michelle, obviously, has good intuition. She knows your intentions. And I know that when you say something like that to her, it just depends on the person,
Starting point is 00:09:48 but she probably took what you had to say very seriously because we know you haven't watched and you're not like this Bachelor fan and you're like this calculated person trying to like stir shit up. You were genuinely looking out for her. So I feel like we all saw that and Michelle did too. Yeah, I have a strong intuition to, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:05 I'm from Jersey. So us New Jerseyans, we were one of the realest people. We could sniff out face and, you know, that was... Yeah, it was easy. I love that. How did you even get on The Bachelor? Like, did someone nominate you? Because obviously, like you just said, it's not like you always watch the show.
Starting point is 00:10:23 And how did you end up getting on? So someone, I don't know, was it a producer who or a casting person. Her name's Kendra. She reached out to me. Shout out to Kendra. Yeah, she reached out to me. And, you know, she said, Oh, Lou, do you want to shout at finding love? And I just, I kind of looked at her crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Like, what? Like, what are you talking about? Love? And she's like, all right, here, check your email, sign up for this, you know, fill out the application. And boom, the rest was history. Oh, my gosh. So they search. I was always wondering that because some people send themselves in.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Some people are nominated. Some people are found by casting producers. So, oh, that's cool. Okay, so I'm actually a big fan of cooking and spending time in the kitchen. I find it therapeutic. I mean, I love eating too. I also just find the whole process of cooking can be super relaxing for me, but I tend to get in some creativity ruts when it comes to making dinner, and I have the same old usual that are my go-toes,
Starting point is 00:11:25 but I do like to shake things up and try new things. I know Jason likes it too. Green Chef has really been such a great solution for me when it comes to trying new recipes and thinking outside of the box when it comes to dinner. They offer 35 amazing options to choose from every single week featuring premium ingredients that are seasonally sourced for peak freshness, I really never get bored. Plus, there's so much more I love about Green Chef. I don't have to go to the grocery store. It saves me time.

I also learned that Green Chef is the most sustainable meal kit out there offsetting 100% of their plastic packaging in every box and 100% of their carbon footprint and emissions, which is incredible. Again, I feel like we didn't get enough Olu. So where are you from?
Starting point is 00:13:01 What do you do for a living? Like, tell us more about Olu. Okay, more of Olu. So I'm Nigerian, 100%. And I was born in. Patterson, New Jersey. And I grew up in a town called Woodland Park. You know, I'm born and raised. Growing up, I was a quiet kid. I was just, I was a basketball junkie. All I cared about was was basketball. I'll go to school and I'll spend hours at the park and come home, do my homework, same routine over again. So, and I was one of those who, I was friends with everyone. I had different groups of friends. I had bad friends. I had good friends. I had nerdy friends. I had nerdy friends. as well.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Yeah. I was part of the anime club growing up in high school. So, you know, I'm just, you know, Olu is just a fun guy. I'm a people person and, you know, I get along with everyone. And regarding the anime club, we're just talking about like different TV shows, you know, and just, you know, expressing our thoughts on episodes and, you know, that was me. So, you know, I was just all over the place as a kid. That's so cute.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Okay, we definitely did not have that club in Canada. Well, anime, I mean, Id DeRat, I guess it's a Japanese, you know, it's mainly Japanese type of cartoons. So it stems from Japan, so that's why. That's cool. That's why we don't have it in Canada. And I should just be more knowledgeable about that. Well, now I've learned something today. How was this show different from what you expected?
Starting point is 00:14:33 Like, what was the most surprising thing to you about being on the show? You know, honestly, like, a lot of people think. think like these shows are scripted, you know, they're telling us exactly what to say. So I guess my mindset was kind of towards that, but I was just, you know, surprised that, you know, everyone was just like free for all. Like, you know, the producers, they just let us be us. And I just went into this thing being myself. And, you know, it was like real, like we're in a private island and just living amongst each other. So for someone who doesn't watch the show and going into that blind, I feel like that would be really surprising and
Starting point is 00:15:15 eye-opening how real it is and how real your feelings are. And you're right. It's like you're just so removed from everything else in the world, so focused on these relationships. And it's probably shocking for you to come and be like, oh, it is real. I do have a shot at finding love. Okay. I like that you came in and you're like, I'm just going to be myself because there's people like Ryan who came in and they said, I'm going to be like Jason Tardick and I'm going to be like this person and I'm going to be like this person because I'll get more TV time this way. And that just never works out for anybody on the show. It works out when you're genuinely yourself, not even just in the relationship, but just for
Starting point is 00:15:54 your own like self and feeling proud of who you are on the show and knowing that's really who you are in real life. Yeah, for sure. And about Ryan, like he was pretty smooth with the ice cream truck. Oh gosh. the only thing he was smooth with all the rest of it was a little. I mean, Michelle, Michelle loves ice cream, so I'm surprised. The whole thing is he didn't even bring ice cream.
Starting point is 00:16:18 It was like shaved ice. That's not ice cream. Oh, man. Yep, he failed. See? Not even that smooth. He didn't understand the assignment. No, he really did it.
Starting point is 00:16:28 And I want to know about your incredible style because a lot of, I feel like, well, for me personally, I didn't have any style. And then I came off the show and I started being like, Okay, I'm going to like check out these designers and people will send me clothes and then I started like kind of understanding. But you have always had incredible style. Where does this inspiration come from?
Starting point is 00:16:49 Here's an unknown fact about Olu. So I am a model. So I've been modeling for some time. Oh, get it. I could see that. And actually I have a stylist friend. His name is James Sanders. James Sanders and then there's a designer who actually gave me the suits to wear for the show.
Starting point is 00:17:06 his name is Drew Beckhamberg. All those stylish suits that you saw on the show, like he lent me those suits. And, you know, he wanted me looking good. And honestly, I appreciate him to the fullest. That's so nice. Yeah, yeah. And my guy James, I appreciate him.
Starting point is 00:17:23 He, you know, he told me exactly, like, how to wear the pieces. So, you know, so I look good on TV. I wish I had somebody that would have done that for me when I went on The Bachelor a long time ago. I was wearing, like, like skirts that were like from here to the floor and like sweat pat material and like I'd tie my flannel around it and like wear a crop top and everything I was like
Starting point is 00:17:48 damn I look good now I look back I'm like I didn't even know how to do my makeup at the time but that's you know that's funny but you yeah you every single suit you wore or jacket or anything I was like damn guys got style you know I was prepared I had to be prepared I was doing my research you know moments before you know, hopping on a flight. And I saw that, you know, people, a lot of people break their bank on clothes and all that. And I'm like, nah. So luckily I have, you know, good relationships within the industry, the model industry, and then just people just willingly gave me clothes. And, you know, I'm just grateful for it. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, that's, I broke my mom's bank for
Starting point is 00:18:29 going on the show with clothes. I was like, how I need help. Oh, man. I think I'm still in debt. She's coming this weekend. I should probably make it up to her. Okay, lastly, tell me about your skills or lack there of butter sculpting. First of all, is butter sculpting really a thing? Have you ever heard of that before? Never in my life. First time, you know, I think that might have been my second time going on a farm.
Starting point is 00:18:52 And first time sculpting butter. And it was a bit difficult because the butter was like frozen. Yeah, look like, yeah, I couldn't carve it. That was the how the hell? How did Nate do what he did? I think he practices, like, on his, on his spare time, he definitely practices. That says, like, I'll, like, interview him later and be like, so what is your hobbies outside of us? Well, people don't know this about me, but I'm actually a butter sculptor, so that date was definitely for me.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Well, it's funny, though, because I have, like, artistic people in my family, I should do, but that gift did not pass down to me. I mean, Nate is just. Just one of a kind there with that one, I think, because better, yeah, if that was probably your first and last time doing that. Okay. So how did it feel on the men tell all when Michelle said she felt like she sent you home too soon and all of her love and appreciation for you? That, that meant the world to me. You know, it just gave me reassurance. Like, it just helped me know that she, she saw me and, you know, she actually had a thing for me.
Starting point is 00:20:05 But unfortunately, due to the sake of time, like, she had to let me go. You know, she had to find the right person for her. That short amount of time filming, you know, maybe if the filming process was longer, you know, things probably could have, you know, went differently. I know, it's so interesting to think that way and, you know, having the benefit of hindsight. But, like, knowing that she felt that way about you and wishes she had more time with because on that show, you just really don't know what can happen and what conversation can make the biggest difference. And it can literally change within two minutes.
Starting point is 00:20:43 You can think somebody is like in your, you know, oh, I'll probably meet their family. And then you can have one conversation with them and it can go the other way. And then feelings can come out of nowhere for somebody else. And I know we told Michelle at the beginning to not rule anybody out. And I think she did a really good job at not ruling people out. But I know she does wish that she had more time with you. and it was nice to hear her tell you that and give you kind of that. Not closure, but just like feeling like, okay,
Starting point is 00:21:12 she did have those real feelings that was real and it could have been different. Yeah, I think it kind of was a bit of closure in a sense. It was, yeah. It was. You know, that kind of just, it put my heart at rest. And it just, she admitted she wished she gave me more time. So there's nothing else I needed to hear. That's true.
Starting point is 00:21:34 That was gold. That's true. I believe that. What was your favorite moment not seen on TV from the men tell all or just from the season in general? Favorite moment not seen? I feel like if the whole world saw this, like everyone would have been going more, more crazier than they are now. So I gifted Michelle her basketball game jersey from Bradley University. Oh.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Yeah. Uh-huh. I had a friend reach out to the athletic director at Bradley, and they basically shipped over her jersey. So her actual game jersey. Whoa. Oh my gosh. And you got to give her that?
Starting point is 00:22:14 Yeah, I gifted her the jersey. And we both signed it. And how cool. He has it somewhere. But, yeah. Oh, that's really nice. She must have been so shocked that you went out of your way to be able to do that and gift it to her.
Starting point is 00:22:31 my gosh, what was her reaction? Yeah, I mean, she looked a bit perplexed, like, you know, what the hell is going on? Right. How did he get this jersey? And I told her, like, I know someone who knows someone, and that's how I got it done. But, you know, she was, you know, that was like a blast from the past, you know? Totally. I had a really thoughtful gift.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Oh, yeah, for sure. Like, that was, I think I probably had the best gift. out of everyone to be honest. I'm sad we didn't get to see that. They should have put that in like the unseen moments or something. I wonder if there's like any footage or they could put it on social media or something because I would love to see that. So they showed it on the previews. They did?
Starting point is 00:23:14 Yeah, it was like a quick glimpse. And I'm literally raising the jersey. Oh, I do remember that. Yeah. Yeah. And she was wearing like an aqua blue dress. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's sweet.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Okay. Well, that's a nice little moment. Yeah. Why do you think the men tell all was so heated? Because time has passed, obviously, since you guys were filming to now, you know, a couple months later, you would think that people would let bygones be bygones, but there's still so much built up, like, animosity.
Starting point is 00:23:47 And why do you think that was? Yeah, us guys, us men, we needed closure. You know, we were eliminated and, you know, we weren't able to see each other, honestly, until that night. So, you know, I feel like a lot of us, we had a lot bottled up, and a lot had to be addressed.
Starting point is 00:24:09 That's true. A lot did have to be addressed. I feel like, I mean, the filming process was a lot longer than what they show on TV, obviously, but I still feel like in all of that time, there's still so much to sort out. Do you have any, like, final words for Jamie or Martin or Chris S
Starting point is 00:24:25 that you didn't get to say, or have you made your piece there? I personally feel like I made my piece. Jamie, honestly, I personally feel like, you know, despite everything between him and Michelle, you know, he actually is a great guy. He's a great guy. You know, Martin, great a dude, but I just, I didn't agree with his views towards Michelle. So that's what he did. He's a great trainer.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah. I respect everything that he's doing right now. Chris S. unfortunately, we weren't able to see. eye to eye but um you know no no bad blood no hate in my heart for him you know and um at the end of the day he's part of bachelor nation so you know it's it's it's like a it's a brotherhood so yeah at the end of the day so um you know if he's ever stranded in north new jersey let me let me know let me know let me know that's a nice i'll be here that's true it is just like part of a family at the end of the day and it's you know things happen but
Starting point is 00:25:30 I just loved, Ola was like the peacekeeper. And when you're like, you're looking at black excellence, I think we all just wanted to stand up and like clap and tear and lift you up and be like, yes, it was a big hell yeah moment.
Starting point is 00:25:45 I loved that. That was awesome. Definitely. I had to protect myself at that moment. They showed never before seen clips. I, you know, I never saw that. And it kind of struck me. Struck me in my heart.
Starting point is 00:25:59 And I know how hard I work as a man to get to where I am today, you know, and I'm still growing. Right now I'm a personal trainer. You know, I've worked in the IT field, but currently I'm going full-time as a trainer. And, you know, just exploring my options right now. Yeah, that's a good place to be in. I feel like you've done so much hard work and obviously your education and in personal training. and now you've got this whole experience under your belt that's just going to open doors for you

I wasn't because I obviously saw everything. But were you surprised at the reaction from Bachelor fans and wanting you to be the next Bachelor?
Starting point is 00:29:53 Because I saw a lot of people rooting for you to be the Bachelor. for her. Oh, man. Yeah. That's been circulating for a minute. Like, yeah, I was surprised. I didn't expect that. Yeah. But, you know, internet, the internet, man, there's something. So, yeah, I was surprised. And, you know, honestly, it was a great honor to see that people actually talking about that, wishing that I was the next bachelor. But, um, you know, we got Clayton. That's my guy, Clayton like you like people don't know me and clean clean is actually my guy like that's a great guy a lot of people yeah a lot of people don't know that like we've had great man talks you know and we you know we're both athletes former athletes like we you know we had a lot in common so you know
Starting point is 00:30:40 salute to him um you know I'm happy that he is where he is today yeah I think he's I think it's going to be really hard on him because he does have such a big heart and it's so hard to be in that position of hurting people's feelings and trying to navigate, like, so many women's hearts and everything. But he does seem like such a great guy. So I'm excited for him. And I think the world will, the world, whoever's watching is going to like, you know, see that side of him that that we didn't necessarily get to see enough of on the show as well. But I mean, I'm basically just going to get all the rest of the information. We need to find you, your dream girl, because so many people are rooting for your happiness. You have, okay, you have four sisters. Am I right?
Starting point is 00:31:20 I'll count my step-sister, who that makes five. So I have five sisters. That's amazing, yeah. So is the rest of your family in New Jersey right now? Like, do you get to see them a lot? Yeah, so my father's, well, a few of my family members are here in Jersey, but, like, my parents are split. So my mom, she lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and a bunch of her side of the family are in
Starting point is 00:31:46 Georgia. And then my father's side is just, like, scattered all. over. So a lot in Nigeria, obviously, and then, you know, Pittsburgh and just, just all over. All over. Oh, that's amazing. Okay. I think we all loved how highly you spoke about the women in your life. Can you share a little bit more about why they mean so much to you? My sister, Feluke, that's my twin. That's honestly my only full-blood sister. Like, we grew up together in the same household. And, you know, she literally, she has my back, you know, for any thing like that's my number one fan
Starting point is 00:32:21 she supported me throughout my life whatever decision I make she's there for me you know when I'm down she's there to uplift me and you know just seeing how she treats you know treated me throughout my childhood and even now you know those are the qualities I want
Starting point is 00:32:38 in a woman you know I need a woman like that so absolutely what's going on Olu says hi Olu you're a beauty buddy I appreciate you, man. Big Olu fan over
Starting point is 00:32:52 here. What's going on? Bigos, I need your workout plan. Yeah. Let's work out together. Yeah. Where do you live? I'm in New Jersey. Jersey. All right. Consider it done. We're going to get a workout session. All right. Let's get it. All right, man. See it.
Starting point is 00:33:07 All right. That's so funny. Today, when he was asking who I was podcasting with, I was like, oh, Olu, he was like, my guy. We really liked you on the show. Obviously, I think everyone did. But sorry, that was interrupted you. continue. No worries. Yeah. So, you know, I touched up with my sister and then we have my little
Starting point is 00:33:26 sister, Jumi. She's the baby, 15 year old. Yeah, I love her to death. Like, that's like my daughter literally. Oh, that's sweet. Yeah. You know, I'm always there for her just grooming her and just being real. I've always been real with her since she was a little baby. So that's sweet. I love how all of your like I've step sisters as well and my parents are split and it's so nice to have such good relationships with you know the the family that obviously you don't get to choose sometimes but that you can have that amount of respect and love for the people that are just like now part of your family that's so nice to have of course yeah um you know i love all my sisters uh even my parents i had real supportive parents growing up you know despite the divorce when i was five
Starting point is 00:34:15 My father, John Romagita, he's been there for me every step of the way. My mother, Tola, Dara Nijo, like, she's been there from me every moment of my life. So, you know, I'm grateful despite, you know, because there's a lot of people out there with divorced parents. And they're just, you know, bad at co-parenting and stuff. But, you know, I'm just, I'm fortunate. That's amazing. I feel like I feel the same way I come from a divorce. parents, but very lucky for like the respect they had for each other and for the family and
Starting point is 00:34:51 the love that they still showed and the support. It's so nice to have. And like you said, not everybody gets that. And it's, yeah, you don't take it for granted. So what are your favorite hobbies to do now? Like, I know you obviously work out and stuff, but like what do you like to do on your days off? Days off. I'm a big movie guy. Yeah. And cherry blossoms. I don't like cherry blossoms. I don't even know why they wrote on the ABC Bible. They wrote my favorite flowers, cherry blossom. I'm like, I'm like, where did you got?
Starting point is 00:35:24 And then tofu, like, did I even talk about like I don't recollect me bringing up tofu at all. That's so interesting how they come up with these things. I have no idea, but hey. What's your favorite movie? Favorite movie?
Starting point is 00:35:41 Well, Denzel's my favorite actor. Oh, he's one of my Thank you. Book of Eli. Is that? Yeah, okay. I like the book of Eli. And it's a great movie.
Starting point is 00:35:52 Training Day, you know, we got that. What was that one movie? I just watched recently with him. And the little girl, Dakota. Oh, Man on Fire? Man on Fire. Yeah. That's a good movie.
Starting point is 00:36:05 I have to say, I found your perfect date card that you filled out before the show. But it said your perfect date would be snowboarding and staying in a log cabin overnight. that sounds nice that sounds like something i could get into a little log cabin a glass of wine snowboarding the mountains of course um so that was actually a childhood hobby of mine i used to snowboard all the time amazing yeah and uh just my adult years i haven't really gone as much but uh i plan on doing that this month with my nieces and nephews oh yeah oh that'll be so fun i love it that's like um where did i just go oh um ashville north carolina and the smoky mountains we were just there and like this cabin feeling hotel and it's just it's so just cozy and
Starting point is 00:36:49 comforting and I love that so much okay besides Michelle I don't know if that's still but who is your celebrity crush it's a good question honestly I don't I don't have a celebrity crush right come on right no Rihanna looks good oh yeah that's a good one like oh adele's looking amazing right now Oh, man, she's stunning. I love Adele. I actually love Rihanna, too. I love Adele. I love that you.
Starting point is 00:37:20 That's a good celebrity crush right there. Adele, imagine you're singing to you. Yeah, I'm trying to roll in the deep with her, you know. I love it. I'm going to manifest that one for you. Okay, I make all of my guests, give me a confession, some sort of embarrassing story that you'd like to share with all of us, and it's that time of the podcast.
Starting point is 00:37:43 This is a funny story. All right. So I think I was 10 years old, Vicks, you know, the bottle of Vix. You know, when it's cold outside, you're rubbing the Vick. Vaporub, yeah. Vaporub, yeah. So vapor rub, we're rubbing on the chest, et cetera. And I forget to wash my hands.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And I think I accidentally went to scratch, like, my balls. And then I, you know, I kid you not, like, five, ten minutes later, I'm, like, running around the house, like a, like a jackass, like, my dad's looking at me. He's like, what the fuck is wrong with you? Like, I'm, like, jumping like, ah, ah, like just something, like a maniac. And, yeah, that was the worst, yeah, that was the worst experience. Oh, my gosh, I thought that's where you were going to go, but I'm like, no, you won't say that. And then you did, and that is so funny. I cannot even imagine that. That is so funny. That is so funny. got to burn. Yeah. I thought you were going to say your eyes. Oh, my gosh, your poor balls. That's like, like, you know, when the guy stood up to streak on the men tell all,
Starting point is 00:38:56 his voice octave went up like 30 octaves. Like, he was like, I feel like that's what you were running around like. That's exactly. That was me. That was me. That was me. I even grabbed, like, ice cubes. I was trying to cool the area.
Starting point is 00:39:13 think about I'm 10 years old and yeah that's so that actually breaks my heart little 10 year old Olu with the vapor on his balls that's so sad well that's a great story thank you for sharing that's amazing uh okay I have a game to play with you it's WWOD what would Olu do you're very calm collected during the mental also I wanted to know what you would do in certain situations, okay? Cool, cool. Let's get it. Okay. Scenario 1.
Starting point is 00:39:48 You're asked to go on Paradise. What would Olu do? Enjoy the process. I could see you enjoying that. I feel like that's you and Rodney are two of my faves that I would love to see on the beaches of Mexico. Shout out, Rodney. But yeah, that's my guy.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Yeah, I love the beach, you know. Olu will be shirtless 24-7. be in my boxers walk in the beach that's me i could see it i can see is there anyone in particular from the bachelor nation world that you would like to see on the beach we got my guy kacy i was thinking like women oh women oh whoops you're like i'm i'm looking for the bromance i like it you just want to see your friends on the beach that's cool hey shout out kacy p j will uh women um honestly don't know like i guess that's true you You don't, it's not like you've watched all the previous seasons.
Starting point is 00:40:44 No, I'm just going to go in there blind like I did with this season. And, you know, I want like a, I want the best, I'm not trying to do a whole scouting report before going to Paradise. A lot of people do that. And they, it's too much like, I don't know, there's too much beforehand where, and then it, when it plays out on TV, it gets confusing. And then we hear all these stories. And it's like, just go. in like not knowing and that's what the you know that's what paradise is for to go meet somebody and get to know somebody there otherwise it gets confusing but what like what is an ideal
Starting point is 00:41:22 relationship for you look like like what are treats you look for in a woman you know just yeah loving and caring that's that's number one supportive like you know we we always hear the the Bonnie and Clyde reference you know but um yeah someone who's active like me you know into fitness. She has to be smart, a hustler. I want my girl to be smarter than me, teach me some things. They better know what the anime club is because that would be embarrassing if they didn't. She needs to accept that too because my previous relationships, they hate it when I watch anime on TV.
Starting point is 00:42:05 They hated it. Oh, interesting. Yeah, you need somebody who's going to love that with you. Yeah, of course. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, someone is accusing you of not being there for the right reasons. What would Olu do? I doubt that would happen, but like, Olu would laugh at that person's face.
Starting point is 00:42:26 Like, yo, bro, like, I'm one of the realest dudes out here. Like, you're going to tell me I'm here for the wrong reasons. Right. I'll probably just flip it and just telling him, you're not here for the wrong reasons for accusing me. for not being in here for the right reason. So, you would do it, you would do a pull of Jamie and just dance around the question and put it back on them.
Starting point is 00:42:51 Yeah, yeah. Jamie's a smart guy. I know, a little too smart sometimes. I'm like that. Okay, you were brought up to the hot seat and told to sing your go-to karaoke song. What would Olu do? What song would he be singing?
Starting point is 00:43:06 Neal. Sexy love. Do the things you do. Oh, baby, baby. I love that song. Nio is amazing. I accept a good karaoke song, actually. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Okay, one of the men slid into your sister's DMs. What do you do? Look, I'm telling everyone right now, stay out my sister's DMs. I got five sisters. Stay out the DMs, all right? If you don't want the smoke, don't do it. Don't do it. All right?
Starting point is 00:43:38 I love it so much. Olu, what is next for you? What do you hope to do, you know, on this time that, well, before paradise? I mean, there's a window of time. What would you like to do with this platform that you've been given now? So I've been modeling for some time. So, you know, I'm just, I'm hoping that the industry, you know, recognizes me and sees me as a face. You know, I feel like I could really dominate.
Starting point is 00:44:08 out here and all these brands, you know, they need to come my way because O's hair, like... I love your confidence. It's amazing. I see myself being a bespoke person, you know, maybe, you know, talking for, you know,
Starting point is 00:44:25 in a commercial for some liquor company, maybe Hennessy or Remy Martin, you know, we got all... How about for Spade and Sparrowes? Do you like wine? Wine is cool. Like, I like a good with Merlo. Merlo, it's cool.
Starting point is 00:44:37 Okay. I'm going to see. send you a bottle of my red wine and we'll see if you like it and then you can be a spokesperson for me that sounds great done deal nice doing business with you thank you so much for coming on the podcast and uh i know so many people just enjoyed watching you and just seeing who you truly are and i love getting to know you a little bit more and tell everybody where they can find you on instagram all right yeah everyone bachelor nation all my people fans uh you guys could find me on instagram at King Olu-30.
