Starting point is 00:03:02 about well luckily it was only like 12 minutes of advertisements and I looked and I wasn't even recording oh god how cute are you doing advertisements are you just like adorable well I mean I is that cute that's so cute I always wanted to be on the radio and so I feel like just you are I am but like my own radio Yeah, your own radio.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Welcome to Off the Vine, bitches. Yes. We're drinking wine. We're off the vine. We're drinking my wine on Off the Vine. It's so good. This red. Therapy.
Starting point is 00:03:36 What kind of red is it? Cabsov. Oh, it's a Kampsa. A Kavsaw? It's so good. I love it. I've had two glasses. I've had six and I feel nothing.
Starting point is 00:03:51 And in no way is that depressing. No. Drink a buttercup. So super exciting. We've got Taryn. I know you guys all know from my Instagram because she does my hair and makeup. You're my favorite makeup artist. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:07 In all of my makeup artists that I've used in life. Shut the fuck up. Swear to God. Swear to God. Oh, Caitlin Bristow. Yeah. No, you really are. It's you.
Starting point is 00:04:19 It's you and then Emma in L.A. And I've never met her and I totally want to. I follow her. You two are just, I mean, you're just the best. You are the best. And I love that you're in Nashville and I love that you're also my friend. And it's nice because we could just, you came over tonight and you helped me do a little do edit tutorial. Diddley do.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Diddley do. Oh, I like that. A little diddley do. A little hi-you-do. A little high you do. A little hi-you-dun. And then we, you know, drank some wine. We caught up.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Yep. And I feel like we're always on the same page, which is crazy. Also, what's your Instagram? Is it just your full name? It's just T-A-R-R-N-F-E-L-D-M-A. That's what it is. The two R's gets people sometimes, right? Yeah, double R.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Well, it's a weird name. Well, no, it's beautiful. I love it now. I hated it when I was a kid. Really? And they never had those cool key chains. Oh, right. You could never find the one with your name.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Because my name wasn't Jennifer. Your name wasn't Megan. Because my name wasn't Megan or Sessa. Yeah, but you know what? Caitlin was in a very popular. popular name when I was little K, right. My little sister's name is Caitlin. Oh, yeah, but not with the K.
Starting point is 00:05:26 But not with the K. Interesting. Interesting. And now everybody's naming their kids fig butter and fichita and it's now no one's going to have name tags. That's why I'm going to name my kid Mike. Because that is going to be
Starting point is 00:05:43 the most unique name. In a couple years, yeah, people are going to make Mike? I'm serious. And then it's my dad's name and I'm naming, you know, I'm like, even for a girl, I like Mikey. Oh, that's so cute. Right? Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:55 I think so too. Anyway, so we're always on the same. We're okay. Together. Sure. We did talk about this. We did. It'd be really cute if we were pregnant together.
Starting point is 00:06:04 If we were pregnant at the same time, that would be the cutest thing. It would be the cutest thing. Could you imagine how bitchy we would be? Oh, I'd be the worst. I'm 35 and I still haven't been pregnant because I'm going to be the worst person ever. I'm 34 and wait, you need to freeze your eggs. Oh. haven't done that yet yeah well get on it sister okay they freeze them and they put
Starting point is 00:06:27 yeah yeah they're like in your freezer yeah yeah they're just they're just there for the yeah don't mix them up with ice kids i know that's super crazy no they're in chicago at ova where i got them done um but it was a crazy experience but i'm it's quite i remember that i remember you going through all that it's the best thing i've done for myself so um the other day we were talking also about just being in a funk like we're both very driven motivated women but that's because we're yeah i was gonna say that's because mercury is that little bitch is napping what is she doing what does retrograde mean what are you doing why is it make everything well i know i know what it means but like why yeah i i don't know and that's for an astrologist
Starting point is 00:07:14 to tell us but i ain't one right but but i think it's just we're in a funk and and i this is why say we're always on the same page. I'm in a funk, too, where I'm like, I feel like we're both creative. We're both driven. Yes. We're both. We're go geters. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Oh, my God. Yes. But sometimes I just get in this funk and I know you do too where you're like, what am I doing? What's next? Like, where, how, like, even just with the podcast, I'm like, how do I evolve? How do I grow it? How do I, you know, I'm not repeat myself? How do I make people still want to like be my friend over the podcast?
Starting point is 00:07:49 I know. It's so weird when you just feel. stuck but you're not stuck right you feel stuck right it's a it's a weird because you're like dude shut up white girl problems like yeah everybody does it um i hate that sometimes i get into this uh like but you can't help it is i don't know what it is i don't know if it's because i'm an empath or a sagittarius or a three on the oh i'm a three too oh of course of course because we're go geters yeah have you ever had your um aura red like your color not my aura i've had my my grandmother was like super into astrology and she had my chart read when I was born and then
Starting point is 00:08:27 when I was like 18 but my aura could I could tell you it's probably like a poopy green at the no no no it's you're a purple you can just because you're feeling poopy green doesn't mean your aura is I guarantee you're purple I'm always like a you're a purple snorple I'm purple with a flex of pink I've been told from I I don't know when this podcast is going to air, but I had a, um, or a reader, a psychic medium. What? On my podcast the other day. Did she tell?
Starting point is 00:09:00 No, he or she? What a mystic Michaela? Mystic Michaela. I'm not kidding. I've, I've seen some mediums and I've had mediums on my podcast. And unfortunately, the one that really blew my mind was off air. And it's something that I never talk about. Like you couldn't Google it.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Nobody knows this. Oh, let's talk about it. And she I can't know I would never Yeah Because it's something that I want to keep private For when I have those moments with mediums
Starting point is 00:09:27 Because I believe in that so much And so she just like reassured me It was wild I had a did I tell you about the The medium I talked to That is based in Canada No I went through a breakup
Starting point is 00:09:39 Yeah With the guy I'm with now Yeah I've been there Yes Sometimes you're like Let's break out Let's get back together
Starting point is 00:09:48 Let's break out Let's get back together Let's get But when you do get back together, it's usually hot. It's hot. Yeah. Except for all the bullshit that happened. But then that, but, but it's like you deal with that bullshit during that breakup.
Starting point is 00:10:00 And then you're like, oh, this is hot that we're back together. But then all the bullshit comes up again. Yeah. Kind of. We're in therapy and we're like super fucking happy. And I love them so. I know you do. And you guys are cute.
Starting point is 00:10:09 We're so cute. And I love it. Because you guys are, you guys are meant to be together, I feel. Really? Yeah. I got a psychic tell me that we were. Oh, yeah. But I.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I'm not a psychic. What do I know? Shit. I talked to one over the phone. I was like in tears because I thought I couldn't have kids. And she was like, you're like having twins. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:33 And like all this crazy shit. It was crazy. She like immediately. She's in Canada? She's in Canada. What was her name? Do you remember? She had like a really cool psychicy name too.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Was it Mystic Michaela? No, that's better. That wins. I'm going to follow her or whatever. But did she? tell you how to get out of a funk. No. Because I seriously think a lot of people are going, I remember, I follow Kelly Oxford on
Starting point is 00:10:58 Instagram and sometimes she talks about like moon cycles and how we all have crazy dreams at the same time or, yeah, like certain things. And so I was like, sometimes I just think coming out of a funk is time. Like, oh, it'll, you know, in like a week or like, I don't put a specific date on it. Right. But you just know you're going to, there's light at the end of the tunnel. It's not going to be in the funk for the rest of your time. for the rest of your life.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Right. No, it's like a temporary, it's that, it's like working out. It's like just trying to stay positive. It's like mental. Well, that's, you got to dig out. That's what I was going to get to. I think we should talk about eight ways to get back on track. Eight? Yes, there's eight.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Are you ready? I'm ready. And we're going to dive into them. Okay. Let's dive. I'm ready. So one, like you said, exercise. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Mm-mm. Yes. We all hate it. Yeah. For the most part. Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally. I can't get there. Take me there.
Starting point is 00:11:48 That's the problem. As soon as you're there and you leave, you're like, thank God, you did that. Praise, yes. Praise be. Praise be. Yeah. Blessed be the fruit. Exercise, it like the endorphins, everything.
Starting point is 00:12:02 It genuinely makes me happier once I've worked out. I know. Me too. Hate it during. Hate it. Hate it before getting there's the hardest part. But after you're like, why was that so hard to do if it makes me feel this good? Dude, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:15 I don't know. It can fix a bad mood. Yeah. So it's all about pushing yourself. Okay. Okay. Okay. As I sit here drinking wine. Yeah. Uh-huh. You're exercising your wrist. Mm-hmm. Your arm. Yeah. Your mouth. My brain. My brain. My hair looks great. Yeah. Your hair always looks great. Your hair looks really good. Yeah, because you did it and you
Starting point is 00:12:37 cooked in extensions and I'm like, got it. Good. And then tomorrow morning. I put like 15 packs of hair in her head and it was amazing. I feel like an Amazon woman and I just feel like I'm who I'm supposed to be right now. I know, that's what, like, hair and lashes does and a little tan. Yep. Oh, that's what I got to spray tan? And a little nails. Nope, not for me. God, but when you, when you have a little nail on, are you, no?
Starting point is 00:12:59 I feel like I'm not me. When I have a little nail on, I'm like, stop trying, Caitlin. She has 15 pounds of hair and a tan, lashes. That hell no, but, oh, nails, that's extra. Oh, okay. Come on, Taryn. Okay. I'm not that fake.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I have a. Just a little. boundaries and lines. All right, let's take a quick break to talk about shaving. Whether you live in a small town or a big city, everyone wants a mini vacation. For some of us, worst case scenario is for getting a razor. For others, it would be even worse to have a clunky shave or visible ingrown hairs. Ouch.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Flamingo shave set packs everything in one convenient pouch so your mini vacation can go off without a hitch. If you haven't heard of Flamingo, they were started by a group of women at Harry's, a men's shaving brand, who realized they were only using men's razors because there wasn't an option that felt right for them. So Flamingo makes body care for women with hair. There's a great razor, shave gel, body lotion, the absolute works. I personally love using Flamingo because the handle and the rubber grip make it so much easier not to have a slip up. Plus, I actually forgot how amazing shave gel is. I used to skip that step, but not anymore. My skin is oh so smooth and hey, I smell good too. Also, the razor itself is just pretty to have in my shower. You should be out there having fun this
Starting point is 00:14:17 hair removal can be a chore, and that's okay, but the flamingo shave set makes shaving more enjoyable than ever. It's a $22 value, but for my listeners, it's $16 and ships freeze. So easy. The flamingo shave set is your whole routine in one reusable pouch, including the parts that you skip on like shave gel and exfoliating lotion. They even include a shower holder. The flamingo shave set is the tuck of the town these days, and it's been a vogue glamour, you name it. Try the flamingo shave set this summer, $22 value for just $16. dollars and free shipping today when you visit shop flamingo.com slash vine one more time that's shop flamingo dot com slash vine okay number two is make a gratitude list i talk about this a lot on the
Starting point is 00:15:00 podcast and and making gratitude list and i've said this before that erin trillor told me i had to write down a hundred things i liked about myself do you know how hard that is to write down or i could tell you i love about myself it honestly okay tell me uh i like my uh i like my personality. Yeah, you've got a great one. Like, 90, 90% of the time. You're funny. Sometimes I think I'm too much.
Starting point is 00:15:24 No. You're the perfect amount. Okay. I think some people would be like, no, she's a little much. I cuss a lot. I like have a, you know, we're in the South. Okay. Well, all right.
Starting point is 00:15:33 I'm from Canada. Right. You're the nice. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What else? I love my ass.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I have a big, thick ass that I love. Yeah. You are hot. Like I just love your curves. I love that. Your whole vibe. You've got a good vibe.
Starting point is 00:15:57 You're so sweet. I love my animals. That's probably not me. But I love your passion for animals. I love how much I like I would push somebody in front of a bus to save a dog. Of course. In a second. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:13 You've got three. I would go to jail for an animal. Yeah. For a mouse. Oh my God. In a minute. A mouse? For anything, I would like just...
Starting point is 00:16:21 Okay, dog, I'll meet you there, but... I'm a disgusting... Like, I love animals so much. Most of the time, if you're like, oh, what's Taryn doing on her phone? She's watching. She's reading something about how somebody mistreated somebody and how much money I can donate to.
Starting point is 00:16:37 And I'm constantly... It's like my dream. I want to have, like, a farm and save animals. Samezies. And, um... Hmm. three your creativity uh yeah i love isn't that all in my personality no no no no you can nitpick oh okay yeah i like how creative i am yeah you're very creative i love how uh i can adapt to a lot of
Starting point is 00:17:00 situations yes it's rare if i'm like oh i can't right it's rare yeah that's probably the sagittarius in me yeah yeah yeah four now you go okay go um i love my sense of humor yes i love my heart oh same i think i have a kind heart like you just says that earlier. You have the kindness. I do have a kind heart. I'm like Caitlin. So kind. I love my, uh, collarbone. Oh, bitch, that collarbone. Yes. And you do have a, you have a great, like a killer body. I do love my body. You have a great body. And everything works. Everything works. It doesn't matter what the fuck you look like. It works. Yeah. It does work. God. I do think that, you know what? I take this boxing class.
Starting point is 00:17:47 and this trainer I'm just obsessed with her and I can't even remember her name right now which is awful but every time at the end of class she goes you know we're the lucky ones like we can do this we get to do this and every time I'm like you're damn right you're goddamn right yeah you're goddamn right uh did I say four nope you had three oh I was like next time oh um I'm like trying to not make it shallow I'm like I really am a good brow my brow my cheekbones I killer are better than yours. It's the native gene. You're very like not judgmental and accepting of your friends.
Starting point is 00:18:27 I will say that. Oh, I'm. You're extremely easy to talk to you. I could tell you anything. Yes, I'm a vault. I killed someone and didn't you be like, all right, let's figure the shit out. Yeah. I am a vault when it comes to my friends and I would never, ever, ever do anything to like push away friends.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Preach, that is the truth As long as I love them As long as you don't do something to me Then I'm a psycho Then you're psycho Which I also like That should also that's number five Yeah, there you go
Starting point is 00:18:56 I will also cut a bitch It can be psycho Number five That's my number five Psycho cute but psycho Yeah cute but psycho I will fucking kill someone for you I love it
Starting point is 00:19:06 Okay three Try new things This is something I'm bad at Really? Yes I wouldn't think that I like routine I like
Starting point is 00:19:14 I don't mind try new things I guess it depends what it is but I like um I'm not good with change really yeah I know is that weird it is weird yeah you like I could have fooled me I get attached to things like I can see that but it just not okay like okay name something new you could try um like I really wanted to go to this new meditation class that my girlfriend um does in Nashville cool and I accidentally slept through it but that would be something new to go actually like you know I love meditating by myself but to do it with a group of people I feel like that would make me uncomfortable maybe so maybe I do like trying new things maybe you do because you almost did it you just fell asleep you're right yeah maybe I'm just lazy
Starting point is 00:20:02 maybe you're just a dick oh yeah well no you're not no I can be but um yeah okay try new things let's let's let's really put this to work here like let's chat challenge challenge You said you would come to a poll class with me And that's something you've never done So that is new as f*** Yeah, I will 1,000% Come to a poll class with you You totally will
Starting point is 00:20:24 I think I would be really good That's Cleo Oh yeah Oh my god Let me just see if she's losing her mind She's dying She's dying She's dying over the content
Starting point is 00:20:32 That Terran created for me tonight She's dying You know what She said the makeup looks good You did it The makeup looks insane I'm like cool I didn't do it You helped
Starting point is 00:20:44 you helped but you always you're i can't tell you when you do my makeup it's insane um okay for set small goals this is a big one because people always get so overwhelmed with like oh i got to lose this many pounds or i have to do this setting small goals it's like crossing something off the list it just feels so good when you do it and you're like i accomplish that like a small goal you could set would be like go for a 20 minute power walk around your neighborhood small goal do it and like, I did it. Yeah. Any kind of small goal that you have, just see how it makes you feel after you set a small one
Starting point is 00:21:21 and accomplish it. Absolutely. Set one small goal a week even start at. Yeah. You know? Yeah. What would be your small goal? Um, I mean, probably getting back into like poll or.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Yeah. Because you love that. You were like quite invested in the poll. I was. Yeah. I love it so much. And I got to get back to it. It's just like, you know, when you don't work out for a long time and then you go do it
Starting point is 00:21:43 again. it's hard yeah but pull is like hard very hard and like i think i've just been like oh i'm gonna suck it's gonna be right like when i first started and that that shit was hard and no you'll probably surprise yourself probably maybe i don't know yeah well that this is my favorite one number five is remind yourself how far you've come i love that because i don't think we ever give ourselves enough credit in life, everyone in general. Like, I don't feel like people give themselves enough credit. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:22:17 And you think about where you were like a few years ago, mentally, emotionally, even though we still have our like setbacks or whatever. Think of how far you've come. So far. Yeah. It's crazy. It's just a human being. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:31 It's crazy. And we don't ever think and like pat ourselves on the back and be like, you know what? You've come so far. It's just a very simple little thing to get out of a rut, you know? We don't. Yeah. simple yeah these are all simple which is what i love six plan something fun who doesn't love looking forward to something yeah done done i really want to go to your cabin oh i do we should have
Starting point is 00:22:54 like a girl's trip i would love to have a girl's trip you have a bachelor at party there right now because you Airbnb it yeah and you have an instagram for it yeah and so they look so sick right now so cute i'm like oh my god they're just getting like drunk and being so weird and i love it yeah and it's so cute what is the instagram for it it's um at Little Green Cabin. Little Green Cabin. Yeah. And where is it again?
Starting point is 00:23:15 It's in Gatlinburg. It's on top of the Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg is the most like adorable little place where it's very close to Nashville. It's like three and a half hours away. Sorry. Yeah. So many bachelor parties go there. Right.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Yeah. It's like a it's like a trashy Vegas. It's like a trashy super religious figure, which is a terrible way to describe it, but you have to go and see it. It's where. Dollywood is, isn't it? It's where Dollywood is. But it's so, it's grown on me so much. It's very quaint. It's actually heating up there. People are
Starting point is 00:23:49 buying properties out there. Oh, totally. Did you see that video that I posted of me and Hunter and the Gravity Ball? No. Okay. So there's this giant and they have it the rest of the summer. So if you get up there, go do it. It's so much. We should get up there before it gets cold. Okay. So it's this giant plastic hamster. wheel.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Fun. I'm in. It's huge. It's like this room. And they fill it with water. And by the way, I need. Oh, yes. Waitress.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Keep talking. And they fill it up with water and you get in and they roll you down the side of a fucking mountain. And it's so fun. And they give you go pros to like video yourself in this ball in water. You can go by yourself or but no. You're like. You splash around in the water.
Starting point is 00:24:42 I have so confused. I have a video of it. Okay. Can we post it on my off the vine page? Yes. So that people know what you're talking about. Dude, can I just, yeah, I'll show it to you when we're done. That's something funny you can plan.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Yeah, it's literally the, it's called the Gravity Park. Yeah, they're like, it literally is a giant hamster wheel. And they put you in and you're in water. Like, you're in a bathing, so you're in water. So if, if there's water in a ball and you push it down, you stay like regular. Yeah. so you're not like bouncing around i mean you're bouncing around but you're like in the water so you're it's kind of floating bouncing it's so much of fun okay we did it like four times in a row because
Starting point is 00:25:19 we were like this is awesome sounds amazing yeah it was so much fun okay yeah plan something that you just got happy talking about that well gravity balls gravity balls gravity balls gravity balls by the no by the smoky people what's it grab a life by the balls Gravity Life by the Balls. Gravity Life by the Balls. Gravity Life by the Ball. That is. Right?
Starting point is 00:25:48 Gravity Life by the Ball. Yeah. Damn it. That could have been a great business idea, Caitlin. Lizzo, Rihanna, like,
Starting point is 00:27:15 Beyonce. I keep saying Beyonce. I know you're like Beyonce. I'm like, or there's Beyonce. Salina. Like, there's everybody. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Celine Dion, if you want to get weird. What kind of mood you're in? I'm always in a weird mood. Yeah. Eight. The last one. Okay. Just get outside.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Ugh. Praise be. Do you see how simple all these eight things are to get out of a funk? I know. simple that's the other day I wasn't feeling well and Cleo said to me she goes your neighborhood is so cute just go walk
Starting point is 00:27:47 ramen around and tell me how you feel and I did it and I was like holy shit that was a day changer yeah I know literally just to go walk and that's another thing I love about ramen he's helped me so much with my anxiety but even just getting out of the house I'm a go geter I like going I love being happy I love being on I love
Starting point is 00:28:03 going and do my thing but when I come home I don't know if it's that I feel like I'm not doing enough yeah that I just get these ruts and I like don't want to leave my bed and I get like weird so getting ramen has helped I do the same thing I do the same thing yeah like if we're not constantly doing doing doing we feel unaccomplished when we have time off yes and I'm starting to just be like I'm chilling yeah on it's self-care you need it it's also like a freelance um what what's the word uh like a freelance downer or like the bad side of freelancing when you're not working constantly you feel like a loser
Starting point is 00:28:45 but that's stupid it's like why don't we enjoy the time yeah that we just lay on the couch and like literally catch up on shows or hang out with our family or do nothing and I do love that when I'm doing nothing I'm like god I would not want to be doing anything else no I know but it's it's the mindset of being okay with it I'm like I feel guilty there and we're watching and we're watching Instagram. We're like, everybody's doing everything and we're sitting on the couch. It's like everyone, though. Yeah. You know what? They just sat on the cat. Well, they just sat on the couch and did it yesterday. Yeah. And today there's something else. Right. Right. No, yeah, why don't we post more pictures of us eating pizza and just sitting on the couch watching Netflix? Why is that not Instagram
Starting point is 00:29:26 content? I feel like it is. Oh. I feel like it is. Touche. Yeah, too. Yeah, toocha. Yeah, seriously. Fair enough. Yeah, fair enough. You know what? I'm going to post more of that. I am too. we should post more of us getting laser hair removal oh my god let me tell you friends that laser together stay together so taren and i like we were we're how do we decide to have a hairy bush yeah yeah i was like oh you know what i could really use some grooming down there you're like me too i'm like want to do it together yes long skin yep they i'm obsessed with anne mayo yeah well and i feel like she's just it doesn't matter like how much we're like freaking out or it hurts which actually it doesn't really it's not
Starting point is 00:30:13 that bad i mean it's quick that's it's quick yeah it's quick and the laser puffs cool air so it's not like it's painful and the pain stays it's painful for a millisecond and then it's gone and then you move on to the next button and it's painful like real painful for a millisecond well it's gone it's a small area of hair too right yeah so taren and i laser are vages together well go get go get your pussy laisered it's funny because i'll be like talking to ford or hunter and i'm like just going to get my pussy laser the n 20 when you were laying there we were both in this very small room together and you're laying there and i was like taren laughs when she's in pain and she goes and taryn goes yeah i got a tough puss i have a tough puss i was like i got a puss
Starting point is 00:31:07 I'm a baby I'm a baby I'm a pus I got a tough china it's you know what I will say though Anne who does
Starting point is 00:31:18 they're the sweetest people at Lonskin have to be the craziest people that they see well I'm like I hope nobody's trying to relax around us in the rooms because we are screaming
Starting point is 00:31:27 and laughing and doing Instagram stories but a lot of people have questions about the laser hair removal and the main question is doesn't hurt and I think it's we're not going to lie it doesn't tickle no it doesn't tickle but it's
Starting point is 00:31:42 a very quick quick pain like a little I feel like it hurts you more than it hurts me is that because I have like tons of tattoos and I'm like I don't know I have a high pain tolerance I really do huh I feel like you have and I use numbing cream and use and I don't yeah you're that you do well well um this last time I was like not laughing Right, because it gets a little more painful each time because you're really bumping up the frequency, I guess, to get the hair out. But my God, is it worth it? Oh, my God. My hair is so much thinner.
Starting point is 00:32:18 I mean, does everyone know about, want to know about my pubic hair right now because it's so much thinner? Yeah. And it's like lighter. Isn't that weird? It's like. It's lighter. It's going to be gone soon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:31 I'm just going to grow it out now. Now that I like, I'm just kidding. No, I always said if I had the kind of hair on my head. like I did for my pubes, I'd be a happy gambor. I know. I'm like, I always say that. That was the first time I've ever said that. Well, you know what they say.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Yeah, they say nothing about your pubic hair. No, my body hair grows so much thicker and greater than my hair on my head. And it's really annoying. I know. If I just had like a blonde, nice, like wave, like a natural. Weave or wave? Wave. Like, I have like a natural, like, I have like that weird like Jew curl.
Starting point is 00:33:05 No, you don't. Yeah, I do. Like, I have a natural, like, kind of, like, wavy. Maybe I just don't ever wear it like that. We'll be right back with more off the vine, grape therapy. Alexa isn't the only one with breaking news. Starting point is 00:34:35 platforms why would you need to learn more or sign up now at launchpad dm.com and don't forget to check out the jordan harbinger show you're listening to off the vine race therapy you grew up in california yeah okay in l a in l a and when did you move to nashville i moved to nashville oh my god almost 10 years ago okay so taren is a makeup artist to the stars oh yeah hi i'm taren I'd feel like we were talking about it. Should we have started with that? Taryn, you do make up for like some really big names. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Caitlin Bristow just Katelyn Bristow is my biggest client. Yeah. No. But who, who have you, like Kelsey Ballerini is one of your main clients and friends. She's the main squeeze. Yeah. I love her so much. God, she's like, she's become such a good friend of mine too.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And I have little sisters. So I feel like I get, I like understand like a. younger female client like really well you know but she's also she doesn't act like she's 25 but she's 25 or 26 almost she's more mature she's I mean
Starting point is 00:35:47 you can't just like do what she does and be like a little f*** you're right and she's married and she's married like she's got her shit together she's a mother of a dog yeah she just got her shit together yeah she's just a really good human and I really I just adore and I just adore and love her. Yeah. And being in LA, you would think that that's where the clientele is to do makeup. So what made you move to Nashville?
Starting point is 00:36:10 You know, the truth of me moving to Nashville is that I lost my father and I kind of just like lost my shit as well. And my mother and her husband lived here. So I was like, mom, can I come stay for like six months and just like just breathe. And then, you know, like literally I had everything in a storage unit. Even my makeup kit. I didn't do makeup. for a year. Really? Yeah. And then my brother was dating a photographer at the time and we did this like little shoot together and we like fell in business love. And we started a little like a photography studio business and I was kind of the creative director and did all the makeup and the hair and a lot of the bookings. And then I ended up staying. They moved here because they were in L.A. when we met and then they moved here. And I was like, oh, okay. I guess I'm just going to stay in Nashville for a little bit. and I always planned on moving back to L.A. Like for six years, like always.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Really? I'm going to move back to L. and then a couple of years ago, I was like, maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm just not. There's so much for you here. There's so much for me here. So much more opportunity, I think. Right.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Yeah, because you can go on the road with some of these artists. Well, yeah. And I have an agent and they're in L.A. And they're in New York. So whenever I kind of want to like, oh, I want to do this or I want to do that in L.A., I could just kind of give. them a little headsies upsies right and you know make myself a little local and just kind of work with different people what made you fall in love with doing makeup and hair and and everything that
Starting point is 00:37:41 you do man um i kind of feel like uh when i let's see i was probably 13 or 14 i got a kevin a kwan book he had these whole series of makeup books like cool coffee table books which i still have and I think I got one of those for a gift and then that kind of like sparked it and then in high school I went to hair school as like an ROP program and then I went to makeup school
Starting point is 00:38:12 and then I like worked at every counter and I did the whole thing and I just like loved it and I love it still I don't want to do it forever I've been doing it for like 12 years now I don't want I mean really can you see this bitch
Starting point is 00:38:27 in like her 40s still doing it I mean I love it but I also love as much I can see you doing more right I want to do more I want more I'm like at a point where I'm like I want more I want to do more and do bigger better more I can see you doing more I can just not I just don't see you not doing hair and makeup because you're so good at it
Starting point is 00:38:48 oh that's very sweet but I also see you doing like you know killing it in every other way and doing more because you're just a little entrepreneur go get her Yeah. Okay, I'm going to flirt with you guys for a second, okay? Honey roasted flavored almonds. Saracha flavored almonds. Wasabi and soy sauce flavored almonds.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Do I have your attention? Why keep snacking on boring chips when you could go to the store and pick up blue diamond almonds right now? Whether you're going to work, board at work, leaving work, these almonds are the perfect snack. I actually have them before dinner tonight. Probably going to have them after dinner as well. The best part is I don't feel guilty when I'm.
Starting point is 00:39:27 eat a bunch like some of those other snacks. So what are you waiting for? You know you could listen to this podcast on your way to the store right now. So don't deny your cravings. Go pick them up. There's some really great flavors right now. I actually really, really also love the sea salt and rosemary. Blue diamond almonds crave victoriously. And what makes you feel beautiful? I mean, I will say I have like one of the most incredible boyfriends on the planet. He makes me feel really beautiful. I mean, he tells me almost every day. Yeah. Um, so that's, I won on that front. Yep. Um, I think when I'm in an environment where I can be who I am, that is that I feel really good about myself when I'm, when I'm that. Whether I'm wearing, whether I'm in glam or not. Amen. That's my answer when
Starting point is 00:40:18 people ask me that. Yeah. As I say, I feel the most beautiful when I'm around people who love me. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Yeah. Yeah, because like some sometimes I just want to ask people too like what what is beauty to you because you are a makeup artist and I'm not going to lie when I when you do my glam and hair makeup I feel beautiful. I'm like I feel good. I feel like I want my photo taken. I'm like feeling confident. But I also feel beautiful when I have zero makeup on on the couch and sweats and just around people that love me. So I always want to know like what what what do you think. Well, I also. think there's, I mean, if I had a shitty personality or I like made it about me or anything like that, it wouldn't be it wouldn't have the same effect. I think a lot is like
Starting point is 00:41:05 just like who you're around and like who you connect with. And that's, you know, that's just like that's why I'm happy to like wherever my career is going to go wherever my life's going to go. I just want to be around people that love and respect me. Yes. You know what I mean? If that means that I'm not the biggest and I'm not the best, that's
Starting point is 00:41:24 fine. You know what I'm saying? Because it's about it's when when women or men like whatever if you guys can come together and be like some sort of community and help each other out and make each other laugh that's to me that's so attractive like if i look at a group of girls who are bitchy and they are clicky and they don't want to do this and they're just on their phones and taking selfies i'm like oh gosh how about do you just when i smack their phones out of their hands i want to just smack them right in the You just don't even get it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:58 During the moment. Like when I see girls laughing and dancing and being fucking weirdos. I'm like, those girls are beautiful. Yeah. Like I just, I love when people are just free in themselves. Yeah. I feel like there's a thing right now. Well, it's been going on for a while where everybody is just like trying so fucking hard.
Starting point is 00:42:19 And I really am like, I can't be on my phone. I just can't do it. I just, like, post what I need to and, like, I can't. Because everybody is just so fake and so filtered. I feel like there's so many makeup artists now that are filtering the shit out of their work. And it's like, what's the point? Come on. Like, what are you doing?
Starting point is 00:42:42 Because there is a Snapchat filter for that where we could have just put, you know, I didn't even have to do her makeup. I could just like put a fucking filter on it. Like, what am I even doing? Right. Robots are taking over the world. Right. I got to go.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I got to go. Yeah. It's so weird. It's true. I feel like there is a lot of, in your industry and maybe in certain things in the TV world, like where we just see a lot of people. And I'm guilty of it. I will Photoshop things or whatever, but. A little pimp, a little pimp or a little.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Whatever. And I also don't. I do and I don't. And then I go on Instagram stories where I'm not wearing a freaking lick of makeup, you know. it's it's just about whatever but i'm just saying in both of our worlds i think we see a lot on instagram where we're like okay well that's definitely like you're in the best location with the best filters with your little presets and i know it's crazy and doing and it's like i think that just really wears on people and and what makes people feel beautiful i feel like people are getting a little
Starting point is 00:43:44 over instagram right now i think you're right and that really worries me for my career yeah but you have so you have so much you have so much Well, yeah, it does. And you're also like a real person. I feel like people are starting to see through the bullshit, I think, is what's happening. Yeah, which was bound to happen. And that's just, it's going to be a little turnaround in the, in the industry and in the, in the social media world. I think it's good.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Yeah. I think it's great. I think it's good. It's healthy. Yeah. I'm into it. And that's, I mean, that can be cool for you too where, because you're, you're an artist. So doing makeup, it's like you don't want to Photoshop that.
Starting point is 00:44:21 You want people to see what you, the work. you've done right yeah I mean half my job is like me yeah like you you work with me you work with me yeah you know what I mean I feel like that's what's the difference between working with you know like a really legit makeup artist or working with somebody who's Instagram looks pretty is like you're hiring me my experience my personality just my you know everything or you're hiring somebody that you know can do their own makeup really great which is fine too but also there's like, it's two different what you prefer. What's your biggest can you not?
Starting point is 00:45:01 Can you not? In the makeup world. Like, say I'm your client and I say, oh, can you? And you're like, can you not? Do you have any of those? Um, I think it drives me nuts when, I mean, there are so many things. I think it drives me a few. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Um, it drives me crazy when, um, someone is talking while I'm trying to do their lips. Mm-hmm. And they, like, think they're not talking when they're trying to do some, um, like, not, like, not moving, like, you're not a ventralquist. Like, stop. You're still moving your lips. Just shut up for, like, five minutes. Totally. Um, if somebody's like, oh, can you just like, can you just like do this like really, like, quick?
Starting point is 00:45:46 Like, oh, can you like, do my mom's makeup like really quick? Just like a little. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Oh. yeah totally oh my gosh that's funny no like if I was getting my makeup done and I had a friend oh could you just do her real quick you're like what that's I'm not getting paid for that yeah no my time is money yeah my time is money absolutely um let's see what else people that move around too much
Starting point is 00:46:14 yeah can you just see I can you not sit can you not just like sit down and be cool yeah give me like an hour of your time and I can bang this out and I'll make it worth your while go run around like go run a mile whatever you're trying to go do just like sit down can you not can you not move can you not move I think I'm good at that I'm still you're very still a lot of people are okay it's every once in a while I'll get like a mover and a shaker what about eyelash extensions that doesn't bother me okay it really doesn't I have some beauty would you rather I feel like you're
Starting point is 00:46:52 gonna like this game oh okay okay would you rather wear a foundation that's two shades too light or two shades too dark too light or i'm sorry too dark this is in the 90s yeah yeah a little tan would you rather bye yeah i'm just dark who wears sweater yeah would you rather sneeze every time you put would you rather someone sneezed every time you put on their mascara or all them always have lipstick on their teeth like on a red carpet oh sneeze mascara okay for sure yeah but then it gets all like clumpy everywhere and like um i can fix that but you having lipstick on your teeth makes me look bad okay you're right you're right yeah would you rather have your favorite palette of eyeshadow smash on the floor or have your favorite lipstick be discontinued
Starting point is 00:47:38 i feel like maybe my favorite uh an eyeshadow palette really yeah yeah they break anyway they always do yeah they really do okay would you rather have eyeliner wings that never match or eyebrows never match well eyebrows never match so that's already a thing i'd rather do that oh right nobody's eyebrows match if i would have known that back in my day of like a serious dysmorphia with my face yeah okay that is not a thing would you rather only be able to apply all your makeup with oh this is a visual so i can't give you that no this is also a podcast oh oh this is a good one Okay. Would you rather always have your makeup look like it does at the end of the night, like, bleh, or always, or have to do your makeup in bad lighting?
Starting point is 00:48:33 Same thing. What would you rather? Bad lighting. I feel like I could fuck with some bad lighting. I'm good at bad lighting. I can do it. I could see that. I could see that.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Okay. Would you rather have overplucked 90s eyebrows or have to wear the same makeup that you wore. as a teen I would rather have the same makeup as I wore as a teen have you seen the show euphoria no okay well that was basically like us growing up and their makeup is like dope oh silver eyeliners and yeah I do feel like that is coming back okay disregard that would you rather always have clumpy spider lashes or unblended eye shadow yes I finally got you on one It depends on what look I'm going for. Maybe unblooded eye shadow.
Starting point is 00:49:30 Okay. Oh, clumpy mascara. Yeah. Clumpy mascara. Yeah. Would you rather give up eye makeup or lip makeup? Eye makeup. Really?
Starting point is 00:49:44 Yeah. You'd rather have lip makeup than eye makeup? up um i feel i feel like i'm always wearing some kind of lip color and i love a nude eye with a bold lip shut the you love a nude eye when have i seen you do your own shadow i mean you have a little jizzy on right now but you always have a lip on you tell hold on katelyn you're telling me right now that signature dope-ass pink you're like by to her never forget that you put that signature pink on me the other day and you said this lipstick made you
Starting point is 00:50:21 did I really she made you she made you Anastasia do you know whenever I post anything about doing your makeup people flip their shit over that lip and I'm just going to go ahead
Starting point is 00:50:43 and say what it is right now tell us the lip it's Anastasia It's Anastasia Dusty lilac It's a gloss It's one of their heavier glosses Oh okay And it's called dusty lilac
Starting point is 00:50:58 Dusty lilac People die And then people also die over the steela Glitters But I can't remember Oh like the glitter eyeliner Yeah the like little glitter Bapaba
Starting point is 00:51:11 There are shadows Is that not Charlotte Tilbury No But they have Charlotte has really great glittery. To end this, I feel like people want to know makeup questions. So this is a perfect little transition.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Okay, great. Oops. I was just recording the whole time on that. Oh, amazing. Well, editing. What is your favorite lip gloss? Your go-to for most clients, just a real neutral, good, pinky nude go-to lip gloss. I do love Mac colors.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Okay. I really do. love see-through and I just have I feel like they still test on animals which bums me out but yeah yeah um I feel like Mac has some really great nude colors some universal
Starting point is 00:51:59 there's a color called delight okay it's like D-E-E light delight delight and it's a really great color de-loat de-noye D's not no delight delight
Starting point is 00:52:17 Okay. Really good, good glasses. Okay. And your go-to-contouring brand? Go-to contouring brand. Sometimes it's... Okay, here's the thing with contouring. Foundations are skin...
Starting point is 00:52:35 Cream or blush. I mean, cream or outer. It depends on the skin. Okay. Okay. If somebody's super oily, I might use, like, a powder just to, like, try to make them not so oily or it really just depends on. What are we doing today? Who do you want to be?
Starting point is 00:52:49 I always am like, who do you want to be today? Okay. Yeah. Okay. So that, yeah, you know. Okay, but what brand? Ooh. Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Starting point is 00:52:57 Um, I do love Charlotte Tilbury. I love Anastasia. Fucking Tom Frikin Ford. Um, um, oh, Chanel has an incredible bronzer. Okay. That I literally am dead for. It's cream, but it dries.
Starting point is 00:53:17 what's it called you know the name um i think it's like their universal bronzer it it comes in a in like a big pot okay and i just take like um like a feathery blush brush yeah like a little angled blush brush and i slap that shit on there put the bronze compared to the highlight okay so you want to contour you want to bronze your cheeks your cheek bone okay okay so you want to shadow it darker so you look a little like sunken in and as well as you want to contour you're like textured here you want to look death and deadly and skinny and like you're dying but like glowy okay so highlight you want to put on your on like on your temple but you don't want it to go past your eye see I feel like what people make mistake is they bring it
Starting point is 00:54:07 like onto their cheek see much under and it's too much low right by my nostril here look let me tell you something I one time I I put glow all over my face and it didn't look bad. Okay. So you can't really f*** it up that bad. You're right. But in like a normal day situation, if I'm, there's no photos being taken, I feel like you can glow all your life.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Yeah, you're right. You're right. But if you're going to be on TV or if you're going to be in a photo, I wouldn't glow too much. Okay. Tone down the glow in a photo. Otherwise, you look greasy and like a little skating rink on your afford. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Okay. Now your favorite blush, cream or powder? Um. Am I'm just going to say this because I'm such a big fan right the milk brand of cream the cream blush milk so good oh I'm obsessed with it yeah and glossier and then oh yeah glossier is amazing um I did just discover this brand called Smith and Colt and they have a blush that is super super glittery yeah and but I love Smith and Colt um yeah the the little cheek creams from glossy year are so good. Glossier. The pigment's good. Glossier. Brow gel. Yeah. Boy bro. Bye. Bye. See you later. Boy brow. That is life. Also, the Tom Ford is life too. Okay. It's like $75 a tube.
Starting point is 00:55:33 Yeah. That's just stupid. How much is glossier? So much. Like, probably like 20. No, like 70. Like 70. Yeah. No, I think it's like 20. Yeah. That's my favorite brow gel. Okay. And then this one I'm really curious to know what is your favorite mascara okay um that's like hard to say yeah um Armani has a dope one benefit has a really killer one I love benefit one yeah um wet and wild if you want the blackest blackest blackest mother fucking blackest yep but with the brightest pink with the green right yep yep yep yep two dollars at CBS that's a really good one
Starting point is 00:56:15 if you're wearing a set of lashes yeah that's the perfect one because it sticks your lashes to the um the falsies and what's your favorite lash fake lash um i'm a huge fan of ardell okay i do love valour for some yeah for some things yeah but um for the most part i've actually been loving a um they have individuals that are a cluster of three individuals and they're the jam i've been doing a lot of individuals lately and I love them and I feel like that's kind of a thing right now but the demi wispies are dope I'm obsessed with the demi wispies. The demi wispies
Starting point is 00:56:51 are just they look good on literally everyone. Yeah and they're more natural they're super natural. Yeah. Love a good wispy right but now they have the mink demiwispies so those are like really sexy and I love them so much. Okay and last question. I'm drunk
Starting point is 00:57:06 well good that's my point on the podcast. Last question is your favorite hair accessory well I don't know if you know but you just came out with a new line of clips and they are killer you do love them right I do love them yeah I super love them I want you to do more I want I want to help

Starting point is 00:57:50 And I got you were like the big clips I was like small I'm big I like small I like big Yeah I think big is in right now But that doesn't really mean Hair accessories are just the thing
Starting point is 00:58:03 Yeah It doesn't matter Hair accessories are the thing They're back And you know what I'm happy that they are Because it's just like A dope way to like
Starting point is 00:58:12 dress up your outfit stress yourself yeah and you don't have to like put so much heat on your hair anymore you can like put it up wrap it up clip it up clip it up yeah I'm into that you know what I'm saying I totally am picking up
Starting point is 00:58:26 what you're putting down I am stepping in what you're smelling is that a thing I don't know I'm smelling what you're stepping oh my god I'm checking your mail I'm walking your dog oh check my mail this is my last the last this is the way to close the podcast what with a big gulp of wine yeah and what
Starting point is 00:58:51 what is your life motto what do you want to live by what are words you want to live by words I want to live by I think what I've been trying to do recently is just remember how short life is and how important it is to love it's the most important and I mean how important it is to just be happy yeah um I've also been really trying to live like a fearless life mm I like that you and I have always been a risk taker and I've failed a lot I have failed so hard that's why you've got to where you are right and that's I'm cool with failing I'm cool but like it's weird like the older I get like the more anxiety I have it's really weird I think if you changed the fail to learning lessons it seems a little bit like softens the blow yeah it probably does because
Starting point is 00:59:45 I do think that failures are always every time I've failed in life I've learned right the most right yeah of course of course but I think I'm trying to really um live a fearless life I like that with anything whether that's like I'm afraid to like reach out to a friend or I'm afraid to reach out to to a colleague or I'm afraid to do anything I'm trying to just like Do it in a vulnerable way Yeah I'm really just trying
Starting point is 01:00:15 Yeah I think that's it So like living Live a fearless life That's a way to end a podcast Everybody go out there and live your fearless Do it Yeah just What have you got to live?
Starting point is 01:00:28 Literally like what would you do if you knew that you can fail Fail file I'm drunk That's how Jason says fail I'm so drunk I can't believe I haven't met him I'm like almost pissed about it. We like, every time we FaceTime's you, he's like, Tara, what up?
Starting point is 01:00:42 And I'm like, what's up, brother? I know. He genuinely loves you. We're best friends. We're getting matching tattoos next week. And we're fucking obsessed with each other. He's never met you and he always goes, God, I love Terrence. Karen's coming over.
