Okay, let's talk about the original enemies to lovers story.
Before all of our reality TV couples, before the rom-coms, we binge,
there was Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy in pride and prejudice.
An Audible has just dropped a brand new original that will have you completely hooked, I am.
It's not just any audiobook.
This is a full cast performance.
So Marisa Abella, you might know her from industry,
brings Elizabeth Bennett to life.
And Harris Dickinson from Baby Girl and Where the Crawdad Sing is Mr. Darcy.
And honestly, the chemistry, you guys, it's everything.
Plus, you've got icons like Glenn Close, Bill Nye and Will Polter in the mix.
Talk about a dream cast.
Now, what I love is how Marissa pulls you right into Lizzie's world,
her stubbornness, her wit, her messy family dynamics,
and of course, her complicated feelings for Darcy,
and with a vibrant new adaptation and original score by Grammy-nominated composer,
it just feels so fresh and modern while still keeping that timeless Jane Austen charm.
So whether it's your first time experience,
seen pride and prejudice or you've read it a million times you're going to fall absolutely in love
all over again so go listen to pride and prejudice now at audible.ca slash jane austin this episode of

only favorite I'm going to ever ask, okay? It truly means the world to me. Thank you. Now, let's get
into it. Hey, everybody. Welcome to Off the Vine. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. And today we have
my final four, Jared in the, in the studio. And obviously, we talk about Bachelor, but we talked
to, I just felt like we're having a conversation for like. I honestly don't know what the hell
we talks about. I don't even know what you guys are going to see by the time we edit this down.
I just hope we don't get canceled. Anyways, fan favorite, I would say. Uh, well, thank you.
Yeah, definitely fan favorite. It went to Bachelor in Paradise, met the love of his life.
Didn't know it yet.
Had to be a man and find out the hard way when she dated somebody else.
We talk all about everything.
So basically, go to Audrey's.
You want to meet Jared in real life.
Get a glass of spade and sparrows from Audrey's.
We still serve it.
It's still there?
Oh, yeah.
You are distributed through Horizon.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
So we have your Pina Noir and your Pina Grisio.
Does it do well?
It does very well.
Yeah.
Wait, I love this.
I know.
So we have a trivia.
They'll, oh, my God, if this makes you know, they'll lose their goddamn mind.
So we have a trivia.
crew that comes in every front of the night
because I host trivia a majority of the times
and their team name is not regular moms but cool moms
and they yeah
they obviously get spain sparrows every week so they get like
three bottles a buddy of mine Robbie
I met him I worked at Hollywood video
yeah Hollywood video what is that like a blockbuster
yeah you guys didn't have Hollywood oh Canadian
Canadian do you know about this
oh do you have movies up there
only Canadian one yeah only
only Keanu Reeves movies
and what's the guy's name from
Shit's Creek. He's Canadian.
Oh.
Like, yeah, Dan Levitt.
Yeah, Jim's dad?
Yeah.
Oh.
They're Canadian.
You know, Jim's dad?
Yeah.
American Pie?
Yeah, of course.
Yeah.
Guess what?
You're in, you're making an American Pie recoup.
It's not that cool.
I was in New York like five days ago, sitting at lunch, and Jason Biggs walk up to me and
he said, are you Caitlin?
That's awesome.
And I was like, hey, because we follow each other on social media.
Yeah.
But he was like, oh, God.
And we ended up talking for a good amount of time.
and I just love him and I walked away
and the friend that I was with goes
but how do I know that guy again?
I went, he f*** the pie.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
How do you not know who Jason Biggs is?
Oh, man, I remember a loser was a big movie for me too.
Do you remember that movie?
Yeah, but why am I?
It's his movie.
Yeah, he goes to college.
He's a loser and then he gets these roommates and then,
but another movie obviously was saving Silverman.
Oh, great movie.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
And Steve, what's his name?
Con, maybe.
Anyway, but it's when they bring out the chart
And they do the fun meter
And be like, before she came around
Our fun was in an all-time high, 92.
Now, a seven.
And he's like, girls, never had very high at a nine
But look at it now.
Two!
Like, oh, they don't make movies like that anymore.
No, they don't.
They really don't.
And this is why Jared and I got along on my season
because we just bond over movies.
I still regret.
I still like regret voting for Brit.
It was the worst decision I've made.
You, it keeps you up at night every night.
Every night.
Well, no, it was just more so because, yeah, it's just, we just clicked so much better.
I know.
It was like, it was just so much fun with you, you know?
Thank you.
I never really like, in the back of my head, I always knew that it was going to be like Sean and Nick.
But I was like, you and I just always, we just get along.
I know.
It was, it was, honestly, that was probably, you and Ben H were definitely my hardest goodbyes.
Yeah.
You more so than Ben because I knew that Ben,
was going to be The Bachelor.
Because I probably quoted Dumb and Dumber on my way out.
And I was like, I'm going to get her.
I'm going to get her.
No, you didn't.
That was the thing.
Oh.
You like didn't, you got actually serious.
And then I think you offered me your coat and you were cold and I was freezing and
you offered me your coat, right?
Don't you remember that?
Yeah, I remember that.
And then I was like, he's not even trying to be funny.
I was like, oh, what am I doing?
And then you went to Paradise and met Ashley.
And then Ashley called me on the phone.
They aired this.
I remember.
It was horrible.
I had no idea it happened.
Ashley called me after we came home.
She was like, I got to tell you something because I think it's going to be aired.
And I said, what?
That's when she was like, I called Caitlin.
I was like, I'm sorry.
What?
And you guys were not together at the time.
No.
Yeah, because she called me and it was like, what did you do to Jared?
And she was just bawling.
And I was in Chicago hammered at the Stanley Cup final like pregame party.
It was like 2015.
Yeah.
It was the Blackhawks.
Yeah.
It was the Blackhawks.
They won and I was, they were, it was about to be the Stanley Cup finale and I'm like in
the busy streets and I was like, what?
You're like, is this on TV right now?
What is going on?
That is what I said.
What is my life?
Am I being recorded?
Well, a lot of that had to do with the way that what happened after I went home.
Let's paint a picture.
Okay, I sent you home.
Yep.
You went to paradise.
No, you hadn't gone to paradise yet.
No, it was.
Reality, Steve had said that I didn't pick anybody.
This all happened before.
What?
They asked me to do paradise.
and then like two days later reality steve posts that you end up with nobody so my little friend
crystal says katelyn's going to show up in paradise i said this is stupid oh my god there's no way this
is happening but that could have happened uh it could have happened but then fast forward i go to paradise
obviously the whole ashley thing yeah happens yeah and then i kind of go on dates to different people
it's not working with ashley yeah i've heard that they tried to get brit to come to paradise and go on a date with me
Because I heard that too, actually.
I remember that.
Maybe I heard it through you.
Her and what's his face?
Who's the guy that Brady?
Brady broke up.
Yeah.
So it was just like all mine F at that time.
It is interesting, though, that reality Steve got it wrong.
Why do you think he got it wrong?
I don't know.
I still to this day don't know why he got it wrong.
I still to this day don't know how he gets his information.
Well, obviously he's got somebody on the inside.
He's got somebody on the inside.
It's crazy.
At one point, I was like, I'm so over this Nick and Sean drama.
I'm not picking either one of them.
And so I don't know if that was like something.
Maybe.
So confused.
Anyways, okay.
Well, of course it's confusing for you.
Oh, my God.
I can't even imagine we're not meant to have so many options.
Like, even not just Bachelor, but just everyday life.
You know, you could.
That's why social media is so crazy too.
Yeah.
And dating apps.
Yeah.
This is why they don't work is because there's too many options.
And I get that.
Well, they can work, but it's just, it's not going to work a majority of the time.
Yeah.
Because it's, it's just too much.
human beings are not meant to have so many options because we're just animalistic at our core.
And so it's always kind of like that, you know, that drive to get more and more.
It's the chase.
It's the chase.
And then also like we live in this society where it's less like, oh, if I feel like something's wrong,
then it's probably not the right person.
Right.
Yo.
Yeah, buckle up.
You're always like, always, something is always going to be wrong.
Yeah, always.
Oh, my gosh.
I mean, I mean, relationships are so hard.
And then you put them on TV.
and then you do it with like a lot of alcohol and not a lot of sleep.
And then you do it where it's everybody's good looking and amazing.
And I'm like having a field day in the first few weeks.
And then the last year, I'm like, Mista, Mista.
How many hours of Sista, Mista?
Get me out of here.
What does he say here?
Just take this.
Oh, I cannot wait to see the second one.
Oh, my God, I know.
God, that's so good.
people who don't know what we're doing this is happy gilmore yeah happy gilmore but um how many hours of
sleep do you think you averaged on the show three a night gee yeah probably crazy because you're on
tv you have to be dolled up you're just because everybody's insecure so it's just like you want to make
sure you look good you getting oh my god and i was getting like zits everywhere from being so stressed
out i had hair falling out and hair clip extensions in everywhere and it was like me stripped
down was not cute like when john and i went to the first house to
on our, like, first happy couples weekend.
I was like, uh-oh.
He's about to see what it really is like, how the sausage is made.
No, it was fine.
But it's just a whole, it's a crazy concept.
I mean, all dating shows are just so, like, think of too hot to handle.
Or you're just, like, putting all these options in front of people.
So it's bound to be dramatic and messy, and that's why we all like it.
Yeah, it shows like, I think that's why people love paradise so much,
because you have to kind of take these shows with the grand soul.
And the audience is really buying into that now.
Of course, we're rooting for these people.
We watch the show for the relationships.
But it's also, like, it has to be tongue-in-cheek.
I think Paradise does such a good job at that, too,
because it's like we're kind of in on the joke.
Yeah.
Like, as viewers and as contestants,
like everyone's kind of in on the joke of Paradise,
but it also can work better probably than that.
I think that's why I like a lot of people,
certainly the Bachelor and Bachelor are still doing well,
but it's just, it doesn't feel like it has the same allure
because I think everybody, like,
just because of the world we live in with technology and I can find out so much information
about all these shows in a matter of minutes just by Googling it.
It's kind of like the, you know, we're getting a peek behind the curtain a little bit.
Where before, I mean, The Bachelor was such a mystery.
It was a mystery and that's why like nobody could find anything out.
Yeah.
How does reality still build these things and like, yeah.
How does this happen like, you know?
And so I think now people kind of see like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain.
It's still wonderful, but it's just, and no fault.
I really don't think it's like the fault of the show.
I think it's just more so just.
It's just where, like, reality TV has gone and how many people have talked about their
experiences on it and then there's social media.
So then everyone can make their own video and have their own voice now.
We're on, think of like the hills, they couldn't have their own voice on social media on their
own platforms.
And just the society like our, the audience is getting desensitized.
I mean, too hot to handle is literally a show where it's like, hey, if you guys have sex,
you're going to, there's going to be a pile of money.
And then every time you have sex, we're going to take money away.
It's like, it's just going to.
keep getting, it's going to escalate and escalate.
And so, you know, of course, it's just going to bound to be like, I want to see the craziest
shit ever.
I know.
It's like, it's like I heard about a celebrity who has just got so much money and he's had
it all and he's had every girl on the planet that now he likes them to shit on glass tables
while he lies under the glass table because it's like, at what point do you just keep getting
away with stuff, right?
Totally great point, Caitlin.
That is a great point.
Exactly like that.
I'm just thinking about what that would be like.
Disgusting?
Yeah.
Wait, you were talking about your girlfriend that got you on the show.
What's her name again?
Oh, no.
Yeah.
It's funny.
You say girlfriend.
She's my best friend that is a girl because I say.
I remember when Ashley, her name is Crystal.
When Ashley and I were friends and then start dating, she would always be like, why did,
like, I always feel weird about you and Crystal.
Why did you guys never date?
I'm like, you just got to meet us.
She's very much like my sister.
Yeah.
So we went to high school together.
We were never really close
and then we started working at Carabas together.
What's this now?
New movie store?
No, Italian restaurant.
Oh.
Oh, it's nation what?
Not in Canada.
Apparently not.
Not international.
So, yeah, so we were bartending
and she was really close with my sister
and it was like a family affair.
Yeah.
And so we became super close
and then she was the one who signed me up for the show.
I mean, yeah, I'm very indebted to this woman.
Is she still in your life?
Oh, very much so.
Oh, good.
I just went to dinner because she married.
So her husband, Kenny, is one of my best friends now.
So fun.
Yeah, they're the best.
And so me, Ashley, Kenny and Crystal went to dinner like a week ago.
Oh, yeah, very involved.
I was actually thinking about how I don't hang out with Crystal as much anymore.
And it makes me sad.
And I feel like I need to because I hang out with Kenny a lot.
Yeah.
Because the only time I see them is if, like, I go golfing with them.
Yeah.
And I hung out with Crystal, I don't know, a few months ago, I guess.
It was me, it was only me, Kenny and Crystal.
Ashley wasn't there.
And I was like, man, I do like, Crystal is one of my.
best friends I never see anymore because if we if I hang out with him but I hang out
with Kenny well you're a working dad yeah it's it's tough it's rough out there
yeah it's rough out there it's wonderful it's the most wonderful thing ever oh my god your
kids are so cute yeah I mean Dawson is just uh Dawson when we were at Audrey's him
dancing yeah oh my gosh like a little stud yeah he's a stud and he's so loving he has
Ashley's personality yeah so I feel like Hayden's going to be more like me and then
Dawson's going to be more like Ashley.
Yeah.
And Hayden is really starting to come into his own, which is fantastic.
I think as a dad, you just don't really have as much of a bond with your kids until you can start interacting with them.
Yeah.
You know, Ashley's carried them for nine months.
So it's like a different feeling.
And birthed them.
And then it's the skin to skin and it's this whole thing.
Yeah, it's a whole thing.
Yeah. It's a whole thing.
And I love Hayden so much.
But like Dawson and I now just have this rapport that I will have with Hayden once you can start like talking.
We can hang out.
But like I wrestle with Dawson.
Yeah, yeah.
And he's like, like, even, I was talking to Caroline about, like, leaving the kids.
It's so hard leaving Dawson now.
Yeah.
Now he's like, bye, dad, da.
Oh, and he gets sad.
Yeah, he's like, where are you going, dad, da?
Oh, I'm like, bro.
I, you know.
Caitlin.
No, no, no, no, no, I know.
Come on see this bitch that I know.
You're like, oh, this one girl.
I don't want to talk about.
It's a wrong story.
You'll find out one day.
But, yeah, he's going to school now.
Oh, my gosh.
And it's the saddest thing.
And everybody says it's harder for the parents.
And it really is.
I dropped him off because we take turns dropping him off.
Ashley does a majority of it, but I try to do it when I can.
So I dropped him off and he doesn't like school yet.
So he's crying.
Oh, I can't hold back the tears.
Oh, brave.
And he turns around and then because, of course, teacher's like, he's fine.
He's fine.
He's like, no, he's fine.
I was like, bye Dawson.
I love you.
He turns around.
He's like half crying.
He like waves by with his little hand.
I'm like, dude, I'm going to homeschool him for the rest of my life.
I can't do this.
I couldn't do it.
I'm like, I'm too soft over like dropping people.
off at, like, to get his hair cut for an hour.
I'm like, I'll be right back.
I feel terrible.
He's got Ashley's personality, which is wonderful.
Yeah.
Because Ashley's so vulnerable and emotional and just loving.
Yeah.
And he's just, he'll sometimes, like, just come up to me and put his head on my shoulder.
He'd be like, I love you, dad, dad.
Oh, angel.
Dude.
You're just a puddle.
Yeah.
It's the greatest thing ever.
Have you ever rewatched the season, by the way?
I didn't even watch it in its entirety then.
You didn't?
No, I don't.
Oh, you missed some good stuff.
Oh, I have no doubt.
I've, of course, like, kept up with it.
Yeah.
And then I would watch, it was just, it, for me, it was just like, why, like, I can't, I hate
listening to my own voice.
Yeah.
I hate watching videos of myself.
Because it's just like that, oh, God, that's what I sound like, yeah.
What, did you, do you think you had any fashion fails?
Oh, all the time.
Like, I watched my, I mean, my suits are like, they're not baggy, but just like.
they're not fit like they're not tailored to your body yeah also like i didn't like i didn't have a lot
of money yeah and so it's like i remember like seeing sean yeah you know in the way he dresses
yeah yeah his fits were dialed yeah so good and i'm like wearing like these baggy shorts
and i'm like dude what am i doing with my life right now i should i should have just spent the money
i like made my mom go into debt for my dresses for the bachelor i was like help yes put out of credit
hard mom but yeah i mean i wish i like cut my hair and shaved up a little bit but i was just it's kind of
like you were who you were at the time yeah yeah i just everybody's got to love everybody for
where they're at and you have to love yourself for where you were at in that moment yeah i think um
i also just like was such a late bloomer i just feel like i didn't like i didn't like i didn't
have my first girlfriend until i was 19 and then i only had one girlfriend and then i just i don't know
A grower, not a shower.
Yeah.
Why don't I keep saying that in the wrong context?
I said I don't want another podcast, too.
I'm like, that's not the time to use that.
Yeah, I guess does that analogy work?
Sure, I'll be here.
I'll be here.
Would you rather have a grower or a shower?
Probably a grower, obviously, right?
Grower, yeah.
Because wouldn't a shower already grow anyways?
I guess because theoretically, like a shower still grows, it has to.
We're talking about penises, right?
Yes.
Okay.
I got scared for a second.
What did you think we were talking?
Well, what were we talking about that initially caused the grower not a short?
Oh, because you were late bloomer.
You were a late bloomer.
That's what we're talking about.
And I feel like even like on the show, because I was 26 when I was on.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah.
26.
That's.
And what was I?
29.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then so I just felt like, like I was definitely, I don't know.
I don't know what the fuck I am.
It's so hard to like self describe yourself.
I know.
Because people like, like the way I was shown on TV, I guess is an element of me like, oh, he's got a
shit together he's right marriage and like yeah there was definitely a part of me that was
there was a part of me that was cheating my pants every day yeah literally is this going to work
out like do i ever really know kately yeah yeah just you know there are four the guys here i'm
pretty sure she had sex with that guy last night like wow i was going i don't know anything
you know i really knew how to keep it a secret huh like i thought i was going home night one what oh
100% because you voted for brett yeah and i still read comments where people are like i still wish it
was brit and i'm like no i mean i f*** up because what happened was i went into the season
because i've never seen the show and so i watched chrisole season yeah and then one of the reasons
why i always felt insecure as well is because and i feel like everybody does this like you have
gut feelings and you have voices in your head and you try to listen to them but the thing about me
is that i would always overthink things and i'm sure 99 point of the people listening
percent of the people listen is you do it too so you just overthink things yeah because if i just
went off our like connection like the first meeting i had with brent the first meeting i had with
you i should have voted for you oh i was like we had such it was just funnier and lighthearted and
yeah yeah and then but i always dated girls who were much more demure and oh really quiet and well i have
you know just different that's what like i thought i should be with yeah yeah and um obviously i ended up
with the opposite with that with Ashley, thank God,
because I definitely should be
with someone like Ashley.
Totally.
It all makes sense now.
Yeah, but back then, of course, like it's just like...
Well, nobody knows who they are
and who they're supposed to be with when they're 26 either.
I know.
You just don't.
No.
And so, yeah, and then I voted for Brit.
And then I told you that.
Yeah.
And I was like, and then wrote, you know,
obviously we're in the row somewhere day.
I was the final rose that evening.
Oh, you were?
Yeah.
Because I thought I, in my head,
I had this whole thing playing out of like,
Jared, you made it this far.
like you never thought you were going to make it like even night one and you know what are you
going to do and i remember night one i was very still reserved and unsure about myself and then you
said my name and i was like who thank god and got the rose and i remember that night thinking
to myself like okay you either you you either swallow your insecurities and just go for it or you
continue you just continue going down the path you're going right now which is you're going to go
home early because you're just afraid to do anything because you're intimidated by this guys you're
intimidated by the scenario you know the idea it was so stupid like yeah i have these two beautiful
women that i'm i'm supposed to choose who i want to date i know like get the hell out of here like
and and basing off like not a lot of information not a lot information and also like this is not
this just like i i have to choose one of them like i would have made a terrible bachelor but like all
them are so beautiful.
Like, can't we just live a Mormon life?
I don't know.
Yeah, I thought about that, too.
I was like, wait, do I have to just choose one?
Could you imagine if it was Nick and Sean under one roof?
No.
No.
They should have done that.
That would have been great.
Well, that would have been good TV, but I would have just sat there and been like,
I'm turned all the way off.
Well, obviously, yeah.
They would have just sat there and yelled at each other.
Actually, I think they're more similar than they think.
I think that's.
Yeah, I can see that.
I mean, I don't know Sean super well.
Yeah.
But, you know, from my time, I can see that just because it's kind of like the hero and a villain of a superhero movie where like they are very similar.
Like Batman and Joker are very similar.
Right?
But they both equally believe they're the hero of their own story.
And I feel like that's how about Nick and Sean.
It's really good.
They're both very similar, but both are very convinced that they are the good guy and the other person is the bad guy.
You are so right.
Yeah.
Whoa.
So the question is.
Who's Batman and who's the Joker?
Yeah. Sean's probably Batman.
But I'm kidding.
I love Nick.
He's like your best friend.
I know.
It was so funny.
We were talking about Jason Biggs earlier.
There's a scene in American reunion that I think about.
Oh my God.
I forgot with that one.
It's so great.
It's so underrated.
Yeah, it is good.
I love all four of them because there was potentially a fifth one in the works.
But regardless, there's a scene where Stifler, they come and get Stifler at the end of the
movie after, of course, Stifler is like an asshole and whatever.
And in the midst of the movie, they call him a dick.
But they want him to come to the high school reunion.
with them because they love them.
Yeah.
And then Stiff was like, I don't know, man.
Like, I know what you guys think that I'm a dick.
And then Jason Big goes, yeah, but you're our dick.
Yeah.
And that's how I always thought about Nick.
Or like, because people would, you know, they'd be like, he's, he's just going to be a dick.
And I was like, yeah, he's my dick.
He's my dick.
He's my dick.
That's really funny and sweet and weird and beautiful all of the same time.
Yeah, but I, that's, yeah.
I mean, yeah, I would agree.
I can see that.
I feel like Nick and I have always had this weird up and down.
You guys have a far different relationship than we do.
I'm just a friend.
But now I feel like we're we can be friends.
Oh, of course.
Yeah.
You guys have also, I would say, I mean, I'm biased, obviously,
but I probably say you're the two of the most successful people from the show.
It's you, Nick.
I mean, Wells has to be there, Hannah Brown.
Yeah.
Jojo.
Jojo.
Yeah.
But I'd say that you guys, I don't know, you guys in your podcast, you guys have kind of like
elevated to a different status.
Okay, I know you guys all know my bestie,
full of a rusty cat.
She works at a skincare clinic, at Indy,
and she's on her feet all day long
and somehow always looks super put together.
Actually, everyone at the office does.
And one day I was like,
how should she be doing that?
And it was figs.
So I'm not gonna lie, I was shocked
because I always thought she was in some sort of like
cute a leisure set or something,
but no, scrubs.
So figs are seriously next level.
I have tried them.
I've worn them.
And I don't even work in the biz.
If you're in healthcare,
you probably already know.
they're lightweight, breathable, anti-microbial, and stretchy in all the right ways,
whether you're seeing back-to-back patients or running across the ER, they move with you.
So the real standout for me is the fit.
Okay, these aren't just stiff boxy scrubs that you're used to.
They actually look good.
Plus, they've got thoughtful details like zippers, pockets, colors that don't scream hospital green.
So if you're out there doing the hard work, you deserve to look good and feel good doing it.
So whether you're in the ER, at a clinic or grabbing a coffee post-shift, do it in figs.
Right now, if you go to wearfigs.com and use code figs rx, you can get 15% off your first order.
That's wherefigs.com, promo code figs rx.
Okay, you know when you're going through your expenses and you're like, okay, why is car insurance so confusing and so expensive?
That's why I think the name your price tool from Progressive is actually so genius.
You tell them what you want to pay for car insurance.
And they show you options that fit your budget.
It's like finally something that works with you instead of against you.
this world. So whether you're someone who loves a spreadsheet, not me, not me at all. Or you just
want to keep things simple and save some money. That's me. That's me totally. Progressive makes it
easy. So if you're shopping around or just want to see what is out there, check it out at
progressive.com and give the name your price tool a try. That's progressive.com, progressive
casualty insurance company and affiliates. Price and coverage match limited by state law,
not available in all states.
okay i want to talk about when you got punched in the face boxing yeah oh yeah and you
literally were concussed so watching back i always think i like something's going to air because
i remember it and i'm like wait i thought that part air i thought it aired when i came into the back
and saw you and was like are you okay i don't know but uh oh that's what i do i was sitting down
yeah you're sitting and i think you were like so like so like
mad at yourself for being concussed.
Oh, I was so pissed off because I, to this day, I feel bad saying this, but I'm like,
I should have, if I, I could have beat storm.
I could have beat him.
You think so?
Well, it's more of just like my ego talking at this point because you probably would
knock me the fuck out.
Well, he's like a six foot four bearer.
I know, but that's why I wanted to fight him because I, in the moment, it's just scary,
right?
It was scary because I'm on TV.
I'm fighting someone for the first time.
I've never really, like I've boxed before, but never in this atmosphere, obviously.
And then they say whoever the winner is, it's going to have more time with you.
Yeah.
And then also before when we were just sparring, or not sparring, like doing our training
with Layla Ali, which is insane.
But that was one of the first times I remember you and I started connecting because I was
like actively going up to you because I was thinking about the night before with the
Rose ceremony, I'm thinking like, okay, don't just just be confident.
You're fine.
You're fine.
You're fine.
And I remember I would always just like kind of like, just bust your balls.
And I was like, I hope this is working.
Let's talk about Audrey's.
Sure.
Tell me everything.
Like tell everybody what you've been up to the last.
God.
How many years?
Five?
No, three and a half now.
Three and a half.
Okay.
But why do I feel like it was like in 2020?
Well, close.
2021 is when we opened December.
Okay.
And then halfway through two and 25.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's been a, you know, endeavor.
It's just hard having a small business.
It's time consuming, which I knew it was to be.
What happened was, you know, we opened up Audrey's.
So we bought.
a house in October, opened Audrey's in December and had Dawson in January.
That's crazy.
We thought we'd be fine because we're like, we'll be fine, we'll be fine.
And then we weren't fine.
What do you mean you weren't fine?
Well, just it was so overwhelming.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I was that Audrey's, you know, I'm not even for the first few months.
I mean, you're talking 100 hours a week, you know, with a newborn.
Yeah, that's a lot.
And so, and we bought a house in kind of the woods in Rhode Island a little bit.
And so, you know, it was probably like a 35, 40 minute.
commute for me. Oh, God. Yeah, so we ended up selling that house and we bought a place closer to
Rogers, which worked out well because it's in southern part of Rhode Island, which is close to the
beaches and it really works out. Yeah, it's beautiful. But, you know, it's not much, you know,
it's just, it's a small business. And so I care for it a lot. I love it so much. Like,
it's a direct reflection on me. Yeah. So there's a lot of highs, a lot of lows. I mean,
I saw you in there washing dishes. You get your hands dirty. Yeah, every day of my life.
Yeah. And I love that. Yeah. Because I've always wanted to
pride myself if I ever owned a business like I'm going to know every facet of that business and I'm
like I feel like I don't own it I like I work there yeah you know and it gives me a lot of pride
yeah because there's so many regulars that I know even like as as sad as this is it's also beautiful
there was a there's a couple I won't say their name it's just yeah for the sake of it but the husband
ended up passing away like three months ago no and I know it was like shocking um and like
the cook texts with them all the time and you come in three or four times a week and his wife
you know she's not doing that great um and so when he passed away heart attack just suddenly it was the
saddest thing but it was like honestly like kind of like a shock to everybody the staff and you know
people that used to work there i text them i was like hey i just want to give you it so they passed
away but it made me also realize in this beautiful aspect that like of how audrey's has brought
people together and develop these relationships.
I'll say Adam's name because
there's this guy Adam who I love
so much. He comes in every day.
Aw. Every day. And
his buddy Bob and
I love it. Yeah. You're like the
central perk of. That's what we
wanted. You know, that's what I really pride myself on
and what I want. Because it's coffee in the day, right?
And like then it turns into like a
like a cocktail lounge. Yeah. Yeah.
We're only open a couple nights a week
just because it's time
consuming. Yeah. But
But yeah, it's very central perkish, and we wanted that community and that aspect of like feeling
comfortable and cozy and the couches and fireplace.
It's really cute.
Like, I love that aspect of it so much.
But at the same time, it's a small businesses and small businesses are struggling right now.
I'm very lucky.
I'm in a very privileged position that like we don't depend on it for our income.
Right.
So it's more so of just, you know, trying to make it as great as possible.
and it's it's been um wonderful and also you know very very stressful on a lot of different things
because when i'm at audries i'm not doing social media stuff and i'm not with the kids and i'm not
with ashley yeah you know she understandably you know if that's not our if you're not making
much money from it like why are you right investing in this do you remember your poem i'm like jumping
all over the place i'm like um that audry's okay yeah yeah we're good we i'm just kidding yeah but that's the
best kind you want it to be you know yeah i'm like but i do think it's cool that you open that
i think that's cool bro but anyway i'm talking about the problem i do think it's cool and i think you've
done a really good job with it i got to go there and i got to make a margarita and it was really
cool to see you in your element too yeah it's definitely it's funny and again everybody feels this
way but like when you feel like you're decent at something yeah like i i know the restaurant industry
so when i'm working i kind of like when i'm bartending i feel my most confident yeah yeah i get that
Yeah, because I just, like, I feel like I know, like, I can make you anything.
I'm also the type of guy where it's like, and some of my staff member don't like this about me, but it's whatever.
We're going to get it done.
We're going to get it done.
Yeah.
And we'll just figure out how to do it.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Where I think some of my staff would be like, can we figure out how to do it and then do it?
Like, yeah, and then I just feel like it's never going to get done.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, like, how you do anything is how you do everything.
Yeah.
Do it with pride.
Do it with pride.
Of course, we're going to work hard at it.
So, like, for example, like, if somebody comes up and orders, like, this weird-ass drink that I, like, never heard of, don't know anything about.
They're like, yep, no problem.
And then I'll make it happen.
You'll figure it up.
And they're like, oh, it's so good.
It's perfect.
Like, yeah, I know.
It's like, oh, I like that.
Yeah.
That's like if I went to a dance class, if there is like, I'd be like, I feel good about this.
I can do it.
I can do it.
Yeah.
I'll make it happen.
Any choreography.
Yeah.
I can do it.
What's your favorite drink to make?
Have you seen my trophy?
Yeah.
My favorite drink to make, that's a great question.
Thanks. I am a podcaster.
I mean, espresso martinis, I've made so many of those.
I bet.
I do love making espresso martinis because, again, it's about the pride of taking because
I like the foam on top, making sure that there is a separation.
You know, because when you shake espresso, it gets foamy.
And that's where it like comes up.
That's how you make cappuccino, so on and so forth.
But yeah, so when I sell an espresso martini, that is just perfect where it's like dark brown,
light brown foam.
It's like a half an inch of foam.
I'm like, yo, bro.
Yeah, yeah.
Enjoy that.
I did that.
I did that.
It has to be three beans.
It has to be three.
What was the drink I was just thinking?
Oh,
like when you,
I love a margarita with like a tiny bit of egg whites
so that it's frothy on top.
Oh, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
I like that is pretty good.
We don't put egg in our drink.
But I can for you if you'd like.
Do you have eggs at the restaurant?
I do.
I think my entire.
It was funny because especially with like inflation
over the past few years that like everybody was talking about the cost of milk and eggs.
Oh, yeah.
And I was like,
it's a good thing that I created a business that is a center.
around eggs and milk.
Damn it!

I really want to talk about the poem you wrote.
Do you remember it?
Yeah, New York.
Yeah, at the Met.
Yeah.
And I wanted to read it to you at dinner.
Yeah.
Because Ashley will tell you, like I, I like rhymes.
Yeah.
I like writing poems like that.
And so I'll write it for her birthday or things like that.
And so that night, I was like, first of all, I thought that date was going to become a two-on-one
because that was when you did?
Oh, yeah.
I was talking, I never forget.
I was talking to a producer.
I won't say his name.
But because that morning, I went into breakfast.
And then Joshua Albers was like.
you hear who they're bringing on another guy?
I said, no, because the night before I got the date card.
And they're like, oh, some guy named Nick from last year.
And the only season, I watched a few episodes of Andy season.
Yeah.
I was like, I know this guy.
And I was like, he's coming on this show.
And he goes, yeah, I don't know, apparently her and him and Kailen have been talking.
And now he wants to come on.
Oh, no.
And then I had the one-on-one that night.
And I was like, dude, I know exactly what's going to happen.
He's going to show up and it's going to turn it to him.
and but the producer you're like let me get the poem out first i know got to write this poem fast and um but the producer
was like i promise you that's not happening because i don't believe him but yeah oh that day was awesome
we had the met to ourselves and the poem was great i remember because i quoted dumb and dumber in it
yeah i like it a lot i like it allah i died laughing and i rewatched it i think i cried rewatching it
because i was like that was so cute into so funny and it was so perfect oh well thank you yeah it was a good
long. I do well at those. It was really good. But I also watched it back and I'm like, I wish I had
more of appreciation for the Met back then. Because now I'm like, this Met Museum. We had it all to
ourselves and I was like probably like crying about something stupid. That room that we had the Egyptian
room. Yeah. Yes. Gorgeous. Insane. Insane. Yeah. The idea that we had just a table in the middle
and that was our place. It was bananas. It was cool. And then we had our own helicopter. Do you remember
when I had to pee behind the helicopter?
Yes, I remember that.
Because there was no bathroom, and I was like, I really got to go.
And I was in, you got to keep that suit.
Yeah, I still have it.
I didn't get to keep the dress.
Really?
No.
And it had a body suit in it, so I had to pull it to the side to pee behind the helicopter.
And I was like, don't mind me.
Don't mind me.
We'll be in the air shortly.
That was awesome, though.
Yeah, that was so fun.
Did you know who was going to be helicopter?
No.
No.
No, you didn't know.
I didn't know.
No.
Okay.
I was so hyped because I always saw on Bachelor
dates, people got to go on helicopters, and on Chris Sol season, nobody got, oh, I think one girl got a
helicopter at the beginning. And I was like, I really want a helicopter on my season. And then so we got
to do that. And we were so close to the Statue of Liberty. Oh, never forget. Do you remember
what I said? What? I was embarrassed, but I was like, I have to tell Caitlin's moment. Because in the
1978 Superman, there was a scene where Superman is flying with Lois. And it's a very romantic theme.
And there's this beautiful score by John Williams. And there's a shot where he's carrying Lois in his arms.
and they fly past the Statue of Liberty.
And it's like this very beautiful, loving moment.
And then when we pass the Statue of Liberty,
of course, that's all I can think about.
It's like, you're lowest.
I'm Superman.
This is fantastic.
Did you say that?
I did.
I'm sure it was loud.
You probably don't even remember.
But I was like, hey, listen, there's this part in the 1978 Superman.
And you're like, hey, you're not getting a rose.
Yes, you did.
I know.
I did get a rose.
Yeah, that was very nice.
Also, I do not remember you telling me that.
I remember being so concerned with the camera guy,
because it looked like he was going to fall out of the helicopter
because he was like getting an angle of us
that I was like, he's laying down, like head out of the helicopter.
Yeah, like Tom Cruise, reel it in a little bit, bro.
Yeah, I was like, okay, so risky.
Do you remember that he had the other helicopter too?
That was scary because he kept doing this thing
where we were flying and the helicopter would like swish
or they'd get like this beautiful look.
But it's like for a minute there,
the helicopter's coming towards you and it's like, yo.
Yeah, because that was just the cameras.
But that was so fun.
They let us hang out like a little bit too after that,
didn't they, like on the drive home or something?
Yeah, I mean, they let us hang out a little bit on that.
That was when Sean came to my hotel after that night when he was...
No, no, that was Ireland.
Oh, that was Ireland.
You're right.
Yeah, it's because we, that was when you brought me to the cranberries.
Oh, that was the cranberries.
The most memorable date of my life, but the show, hands down.
It has to be. It is.
I mean, the idea that they got the cranberries, because usually on a musical artist in the bachelor,
it's obviously someone super talented who's up and coming, who's great.
Up and coming, yes.
It's always up and coming, like country music, usually.
exactly you know and it's like someone you know you're like oh that's really cool yeah you don't
get the cranberries in ireland in a castle like that shit does does not happen again i cry i cried
rewatching it because i was like this is so cool and we got to relive it a couple times for camera
angles yep so she just had to do it again they're like put zombie come on she's like they
didn't pay me enough yeah yeah uh he got one song one song only and i saw her at the hotel they
were staying at the same hotel as we were oh yeah i don't know if you were at the same
I guess, right?
Yeah, I was.
And so they were walking me back because when I got back to the hotel, Harrison was in the
bar by himself, which was cool because I got to sit with him for a second.
And he was so nice.
And then they brought me up to the room.
And as I was walking there, Dolores was walking all right.
RIP.
Oh, my God, it was so amazing.
And she talked to me for a couple minutes.
She's like, oh, it was great.
I cannot believe we got to experience that.
Did you know it was going to be the cranberries?
Yes.
That's cool.
Yeah.
I was like, I swear, you know how you.
you fill out so much paperwork to go on the show.
Like, I think I had on my bucket list, like, go to Ireland.
I think, like, I named some of my favorite songs.
I think zombie was on there.
Like, I think they actually knew that.
Yeah.
And, yeah, when they told me it was the cranberries, I was like, holy shit.
Yeah, I mean, iconic.
Iconic.
And didn't we have a key to get into the castle that literally, like, opened it?
And I couldn't open it.
Oh, my God. That's what I forgot about that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She almost couldn't get us through the door.
I was like, why would they, they're all in there waiting for us?
Why are they giving me a key?
Had I know it, it was the crambers.
I was like, get out of the way, Caitlin.
Just slam the door down.
I'll unlock it, okay?
It just kick it open.
Yeah, that was weird, though, because we actually had to unlock it with a key.
And then it was like, you heard the music as we were walking in.
We're like, holy shit.
That was so cool.
It was the coolest.
I can't thank you enough for bringing me down on that date.
I'm sure I was number two, but that's fine by me.
Well, you know what?
Can I say something?
I wanted to bring Sean on every date.
course. And so then they're like, Caitlin, you can't make it so obvious. I was like,
okay, then I want Jared. No, that's, that's perfect. I'll take number two. You can and me? I got
to go see the cranberries. I'm grateful for this. It was really, really cool. I actually started
listening. So, uh, Joe Jonas did a cover of Dreams. You know the song, Dreams by Cranberries?
Oh, I thought you meant by Fleetwood Mac. I was like, yes. Oh, no. Dreams like Cranberry.
It's such a great song. Okay. And it's by the Cranberries, but Joe Jonas did a cover on it. He did at New Year's Eve.
Cool.
Oh, crushed it. He did? I thought you were about to say he, like, bombed.
No, like he, I was like, because Ashley loves the Jonas brothers.
And I really respect their talent.
But I've always been like, oh, I mean, of course.
They're just like, I'm not obviously, you know, I wasn't a 13 year old girl when they came up.
Yeah.
But like, they're really talented.
But like in that moment, I was watching him.
I'm like, that dude's a rock star.
Yeah.
And that's cool.
I hope he like releases it as a single.
Yeah, I want to see.
It was so good.
We actually got a lot of good dates because now I remember the Blarney Stone.
We got to kiss the Blarney Stone.
I had the best days ever.
You really did.
And remember all the guys had to be on the bus
and you got to come in the car with me?
Were you scared?
How scared were you while I was driving that car?
I wasn't scared.
I was.
We hit eight curbs.
No, no.
You started crying.
I felt bad for that.
Yeah, you don't remember that.
You, like, hit a curb and then, like, you were having trouble with the car
and, like, you started.
I think you were just overwhelmed.
I'm probably tired.
And you're, like, f***ing shot and Nick are killing me.
And you just started crying.
And I thought, you know, obviously,
I think you were having.
just tired and you were having difficulty with the car it wasn't like a bad but you it was crazy to
because we got to stop for lunch and no cameras like we got to actually just stop and eat lunch oh yeah
and then i they brought you in my car yeah i have no idea why because i was so overdiving
oh because no no no no like because obviously we were driving if you remember it was like
we would drive the car for like 45 minutes and then they would stop and then i'd go in my car
you'd go near a car they'd drive a little bit more and then they'd bring us back in the car
But I don't know why they did this, but when I was in my car, they stopped.
Yeah, like fell asleep on your lap.
Yeah.
They had you come in the car.
Yeah.
And I was like, I'm the luckiest guy in this show right now.
Now that I think about it, you really did get a lot of off camera time.
Yeah.
Of us just hanging.
What f*** didn't you pick me?
Because I knew that Dawson was waiting in the womb.
The best.
Dawson and Hayden.
They're the best.
They're so freaking cute.
I can't even handle it.
Yeah.
Like it's it makes me so proud like you as a parent especially my kids only three so who knows but like I want him to be better than me you know and like he's so I'm already so proud of the person that he is well it's because you and Ashley are so kind and your great parents they always say that you're going to be the parent that you needed as a child wait say that again you're going to be the parent that you needed as a child yeah so like maybe things that we all don't get everything we need as a child you're probably now.
like he's getting all his kind heart from you being like showing loving and kindness where
back in our parents day that wasn't so much of a thing yeah and now we're passing on to our
next generation like a lot more like love yeah i would agree with that i think um i would definitely
agree with that but also i never want to complain about my parents oh i'm the same way because
it's just like i the of course did they do everything for me of course not but the things that
they did do for me, I mean, you can't even put into words how much they outweigh what they
couldn't give me. You know what I mean? But I feel like that's why same thing. Like Ben Higgins,
I look at his parents and I'm like, God, it's all the, like, not saying that you have to have
good parents to be a good person, but like you see where you get it from. Yeah. Yeah.
Does I say boys lie? Yeah. It's just a brand. Well, that's also true.
Yeah. As I get older and I'm not saying I'm above this. But it's,
Man, it is crazy how much, like, guys just suck.
And, like, I've definitely, like, I look at my past and, like, I've even, like,
I make mistakes every single day of my life.
But, yeah, I'm like, man, why do, why are women just so much?
We are the superior sex.
A thousand percent.
Yeah.
I mean, there's, I was a shitty person in my 20s.
I definitely was not.
30s.
I can hear you.
Oh, sorry.
Sorry.
Whoops.
Hot mic.
Hot mic.
Hot mic.
But I'm like, I, but I'm, I was really selfish and I didn't know any better.
And I do think it's an age thing, but also men, men do suck.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I just noticed it with like, especially like dealing with a lot of like college people work
at Audrey's and people in their 20s.
And it's just, it's like, I mean, the amount of times like guys just don't want to commit.
They don't want to do anything.
They're just, they're just dumb.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They really, women are.
I think that people can now see it.
I think women really are.
the superior sex in so many ways.
But I love men and we couldn't do it without you.
You really couldn't do without us.
We really couldn't, yeah.
We could.
Now modern science, you know?
Maybe, yeah, maybe men are like redheads.
They're going to be extinct in like 100 years.
Very possible.
You know what's how this brand blew up?
I think it was when Tyler Cameron was dating Gigi Hadid and then there was something
where they broke up and she was in a boy's lie sweatsuit and their brand like blew up.
I think that was it
Something like that
I could be
Talk about an anomaly
Tyler Cameron
I've always thought he's
Of course he's very good looking
Very charismatic
Yeah
I just I guess I never understood
Like how he blew up the way he did
And someone like
Like Dean
You know what I mean?
I know
Because I'm like Tyler's wonderful
But like
Like I always
I don't think Dean likes you
I don't think he does
I don't think he ever has
Have you ever met him
Yeah, at your wedding.
I can't imagine Dean doesn't like you.
Really?
He is the epitome of a golden retriever.
Is he really?
I love that man.
Oh.
Have you ever really spent quality time of Dean?
No, I haven't.
And I think I, like, maybe, like, made fun of him on the show.
And maybe he didn't like me from that.
I don't think I made fun of him.
Maybe he didn't like that you said something back of the day.
Yeah.
But he, I can't imagine he cares now.
Well, I feel like some, he, there was some article.
I'm going to Google this.
There was an article.
What is his last name?
Well, now it's Bell.
Oh.
Well, do you want to hear just the sweetest story ever?
Yeah.
So his mom, I'm sure you remember this, passed away when he was a teenager.
So her maiden name was Bell.
And his dad's name is Ungler.
Yeah.
And his dad kind of, you know, I don't know if you remember the episode where he went
hometowns and his dad kind of did some crazy shit.
Yes, yes.
And so he, when he married Kaelin, he asked her instead of her changing her last name
to Uncle.
If they could both change her last name to Bell, which is his mom's maiden name.
So now they are Dean and Caitlin Bell.
Okay, cute as hell.
Oh, my guy, cute as hell.
And like he, uh, I, I, yeah, I, you should spend time with Dean because you will fall in love with him.
Not just like as like, like, oh my God, Dean, but just like, he is, he is just such a great man.
He really is.
I guess I shouldn't just believe the headlines, but it says Bachelor Nations, Dean,
Dean doesn't think
Caitlin Bristow likes, oh.
Doesn't like him?
Oh, he thinks I don't like him.
Yeah, it's probably exactly what happened.
He's like, uh, Caitlin is like me.
She said to the bottom of my podcast.
After mutual unfollowing,
he has theories to why Caitlin stop following him on social media.
I think the Golden Bachelor wedding,
Caitlin unfollowed me on Instagram.
So I don't think she likes me very much.
Bell, who changed his name after him.
Oh, I didn't see, I didn't read the.
This is classic what I,
closing loose.
What I preach.
Don't just read the headlines because,
oh my god he said um i clicked on her profile and i because i got tagged in something i checked
she wasn't following me i'm pretty sure she was before us but i don't think i ever was following him
probably wrong that's the most dean everything ever talk to us weekly oh yeah because you guys
had a podcast together yeah suckers yeah we did it for a while it's fun yeah yeah dean is uh he's just
awesome he's the best okay well maybe we both just had this misunderstanding we just saw i just saw him at
tanya tanya rad's wedding yeah i think i think very highly
There's a lot of, you know, we're lucky, honestly, like the people, I feel like there's a lot of wonderful people that we met from the show.
And really solid friendships.
Yeah.
Like, think about, Ashley's one of my favorite people from the whole franchise.
Yeah.
And we were on the same season together.
And her and I didn't bond right away.
But she was, like, one of the only girls in the house that really understood my humor and totally, like, didn't take offense to it.
Yeah.
I mean, Ashley is.
She's so self-deprecate.
She's so, she's very, I always say this and people are like, oh, but it's the greatest compliment I can give it.
She's very childlike.
Mm-hmm.
Yes, she is.
And her sense of wonder.
Yeah.
And her sense of being self-deprecating and self-awareness.
Self-awareness and always like, just like happy.
She's always happy.
Well, not on The Bachelor.
No, I mean, obviously crying.
Yeah.
But she was always happy.
She would even laugh as she was crying.
Exactly.
Yeah.
You know, she's like that she's and she is people are, you know, a lot of times,
because they're about Audrey's all the time.
So they'll come up and they'll say hi.
And they're like, you know, oh, Ashley, you know, we don't know what she's really like.
But like on the show, I just love her.
And I'm like, she's exactly the way she was on the show like to a tea.
She is.
She's a very real person.
Yeah.
And she was, she made me laugh so hard on The Bachelor.
She was just a delight to be around.
Yeah.
Yeah, she's always a delight to be around.
She's a wonderful mom.
Yeah.
She's the best mom.
I got to witness it with Dawson.
Yeah.
Why do I always want to keep calling your son Hayes?
It's Hayden.
Oh, Hayden.
Yeah, I always want to call him Hayes.
It's Hayden.
I haven't met Hayden, but Dawson, I got to spend time with.
Hayden, you love.
Yeah.
And she, it was really cool to see her in her mom era.
Yeah.
Because I, you know, I know Ashley is Ashley I, the hilarious crying, blah, blah.
And then we've always kept in touch.
And we still text.
to this day, but seeing her as a mom, I was like, oh, my God, this is so cool.
Yeah, it's crazy.
Like, if you told me 10 years ago that Ashley was going to be a mom before me and to have two
children, I'd be like, yeah, okay.
And now I'm like, everyone's settled down, please.
All right, gone down on the floor.
And now I'm like, oh, my gosh, she's like, that is her role.
Like, she's so good.
She's such a good mom.
She's the best mom.
Yeah.
And she takes such good care of all of us.
And she's just so loving.
And so that's why it makes me so happy
that Dawson has her personality.
Yeah.
Because he's so loving.
Well, get ready for baby too.
I'm the second baby.
I feel like we crazy.
Don't you think?
Are you the second baby?
Oh, Hayden.
I was like, what do you talk?
Oh, Hayden's crazy.
Yeah, I think Hayden's going to, I'm sad.
I think Hayden's going to be more like me,
which I think can be good.
Yeah.
But I wish, I hopefully he'll be more like Ashley.
Because I just, I love that sense of,
give yourself a little cred.
Yeah.
I.
I hope they have your jaw line.
I hope they get the jaw line.
That'd be nice.
But I want Hayden to have Ashley's.
Demeanor?
Yeah, because I can get, like, I always told Ashley this.
Like, I can get, you know, I can get quiet, you know, and like pretty.
Like internal?
Yeah, very internal.
Yeah.
And like, I don't, I love as much as it can be a pain in the ass sometimes with Ashley.
Because she just cannot, like, if something's on her.
mind. You know what I mean? She can never let anything go. Yeah, no. And so that's like the
crux of our issues a lot of the times where it's like, I'd be like, can we just like not talk
about this? And I can see her just like, it's like clearly just like right there. And it's like
she's like, she's like this guy. I'm like, all right, let's just talk about it. And but that's a way
better quality to have. Like I don't want Hayden and I don't want Hayden or Dostner
internalizing. Yeah, I get that. I'm definitely, I think that's, but that's why I love the women that
are raising these little boys these days.
Like my best friend, Brie, is raising these two little boys.
And I just see the, he's, because I only say this only about this one friend is because
her kids are older now.
So I see it.
He's 10 and he's the most like compassionate, empathetic, sweet, kind, funny.
Like all the things.
And I'm like, oh my God, he's a little mini Bree, which is amazing.
Yeah.
But boys really look up to their moms.
And I can see that.
Yeah.
And like Dawson and I, it's cool because now that.
But it used to be, Dawson was so team mom.
Yeah.
And he loved me.
Yeah.
But it was just different.
Now it's, he is very, he loves me very much.
Yes.
Which makes me very happy.
Yes.
And so, but we just have a different relationship where like, mama is still like if he's in pain.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He actually, it was so awesome because it was like four o'clock in the morning.
This was like three weeks ago.
And we have the little sound machine so we can hear Dawson when he's up and up in bed.
And it was like four and,
the morning he goes dad dad dad dad dad and he never does that oh and so he only calls for mama
and so she's like he's calling for you and i was like yeah i'm gonna go obviously like this is my
moment yeah that's my time to shine and i can hear him like he goes dad dad dad dad dad dad dad it's like four
o'clock in the morning so i open the door and i go dawson and he goes what i'm like what do you
mean what you've been screaming my name and then yeah i think he woke up because it was a thunderstorm
So I thought the thunderstorm and, but he didn't, he wasn't scared or anything.
He was just like, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad.
And so I was like, Dawson, he goes, what?
Like, what do you mean?
What?
That's literally like the family guy skit when he's like, mom, mama, mom, mom, mommy, mommy,
and she's like, what?
He's like, oh, never mind.
No, no, no, no.
Oh, I'll never mind then.
But yeah.
That's, I mean, could you bet this, all this stuff that's happened,
every turn that you've taken in life has led you to be a husband and a father.
Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy.
And a business owner?
I know.
That's like, how do you think the Bachelor changed your life?
Oh my God.
I flipped it upside down.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
I mean, I'll never forget watching.
So I was bartending at a place called Turtle Soup at the time.
Turtle soup.
And I was managing up in Providence and then bartending on the side for extra money.
And I'll never forget, as you know, it's such a world when like when people see you on TV,
they immediately think that you're rich and famous.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So like there was, it was.
sometimes difficult when people would come up because I'd be bartending and I could tell
it was like this air of like what are you doing here I'm working you know we have to
go back to our job sometimes yeah it's not like just because you're on TV I'm moving to LA
yeah yeah everyone does think that yeah but I'll never forget I was bartending and it was the night
of the after the final roads and so there's a TV in the corner and I was working and I
oh my gosh and I saw it like you and Sean get introduced and while I was working
Oh, crazy.
I know.
I was like, damn, that's so crazy.
So thinking like back on then and be like, oh, this is such a cool experience, but like, you know,
my life's not going to really change.
And then, of course, Paradise happened.
And at that point, have you already filmed Paradise?
Did.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I filmed Paradise at this point.
But it didn't air yet.
You're and Ashley's love story was like not the most romantic.
And now I'm like, I want that kind of love.
It's, um, yeah, I mean, obviously we started off as friends.
Yeah.
It was, I think.
What happened with us, it was just messy and complicated and much more like life than the bachelor.
What was the moment where you're like, what am I doing? Ashley's my person.
Oh, well, it was, I mean, I've told this story a million times.
But when we went to, she went to go film Winter Games, I went to go film Bachelor in Paradise, Australia.
Yeah.
And I was like, yeah, what am I doing in my life?
Yeah.
And then came back and then it was over Christmas break.
And we had a planned trip to go to St. Lucia with me, Ashley,
Lauren, Paul and Kate, Paul
the sister. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Tanner, Jade.
Yeah. And Emmy. Yeah. Emmy was just
born. Oh, Emmy. I remember this trip.
I actually remember this trip that looked beautiful. Yeah.
It was amazing. And this was the first time was going to meet
Emmy. We had a book for a while. But then Ashley, when I went to
her games, she ended up to start and date Kevin. Yeah. I didn't know what was going
on. I mean, I heard what was that she was potentially engaged and
like crazy shit. Like, yeah, what am I doing with my life?
And then, of course, I knew. And were you sad? Of course. I knew I had feelings for
Ashley for a while. But again, it goes back to like the, the, the, the
insecurities that you have and just like not acting on your emotions yeah just like trusting your
feelings yeah not just in your gut not going after the things that you want in life and then just
so we go on this trip and i didn't know if this guy was going to be there or not but i knew i had to
go on the trip because i was like i got to tell ashley that like you know i have feelings for stronger
feelings and i'm leading on not just friendship and so you're like this could not be an email this has
to be in person in st luci well i knew because at the time i was living with nick yeah oh yeah yeah so
because I moved in with Nick in November,
kind of worked out perfectly because Nick,
so Nick and Vanessa breakup.
Yeah.
He has the apartment in L.A.
And he's by himself.
And then he was like,
dude,
just come out,
move to L.A.
You can live with me for free.
Try it out.
If you hate it,
you just move back.
Yeah.
You never lived outside of around.
I remember you doing this.
Pretty sure he just wanted a roommate.
Yeah,
100%.
I'll never forget the first morning.
He grew up one of 11.
He was like,
I'm lonely.
I know.
It was so endearing, though.
Yeah.
It was so endearing because the first morning,
I had my own room.
and then it was like eight o'clock in the morning
and then he just like knocks and opens the door
and Nick is shirtless with his pants on
and he's just like he's standing in the doorway
and I kind of like wake up I was like oh hey it's a man
he's like oh you wake I said yeah yeah and he just started talking
and like just talking about like Instagram
or what we need it like or like just and whatever was going on
in that day I was like I've just never had anybody like that
who just like my door shut nobody's coming to knock
or come in he just standing at the doorway and just like
talking to me, talking to me.
And I was like, well, this is actually kind of sweet.
But anyway, so I love with Nick.
And then, so fast forward to January, I'm in Rhode Island because I was going to go straight
from Christmas break because I went home for Christmas to St. Lucia because it was the first week
of January.
I left my passport in L.A.
And so I only found, I remember this.
Yeah.
I only remember, I tried to check in for my flight and ask for my passport number.
And then I looked for my passport.
I'm like, oh, my God, I left an department in L.A.
So thank God for Nick.
So I text Nick.
I was like, hey, listen, can you please.
send me my passport. He overnighted it, but there was a bad snowstorm.
Of course. It didn't get there. The trip was from Monday through Friday. So he sent it on Monday
because it was Sunday when I was trying to check in. It was already closed. Sent it on Monday.
We're supposed to arrive Tuesday. Didn't get until Wednesday night. So I left for St. Lucia
Thursday morning and then spent like 18 hours there. And then we all left Friday morning back to
the United States. But I knew I had to go to St. Lucia because I was like, if I'm going to tell her
how I feel, I wanted to be like very intimate and personal. And I don't want to be like, hey,
Do you want to go to, like, Starbucks in L.A.?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I got something to tell you.
Yeah.
Especially not when you're coming from the Bachelor world.
You got to make it extravagant.
I knew it needed to be a moment.
Yeah.
And then also I knew that like, not to be a dick, but hindsight, it's 2020.
He's doing fine.
He's got a wonderful family.
Yeah, yeah.
I was like, I got to make sure Kevin's not there.
Right.
Right.
I'm about to hit her over the head with some news.
I cannot believe.
I still can't picture that.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
But obviously worked out.
He's with Astrid.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, at least two kids.
too yeah so cute he actually posted something i recently about um i don't follow him but like you know how
if something's like going for harl go on your for you page yeah it was kind of scary apparently like
one of his kids were choking for a second and oh shit he was like advocating like make sure you know
i did see that CPR yeah yeah and it was good because then it made me think like shit yeah i need to
yeah you should do that we have like um i forget what they call but they're like suction things you
put literally put over his mouth and it's supposed to like suck whatever it's brought out yeah oh we have
two in the house,
both one in each car.
Ashley's very prepared.
Another wonderful aspect of her being mother.
Yeah.
Because I'd be like,
what is it?
Never thought of that.
No,
I'd be like,
just put your fingers down his throat.
Yeah.
So you'd make sure Kevin wasn't there.
Yeah,
so went there and then,
you know,
we had a moment and all worked out.
And was she like,
I've been dreaming about this?
Oh,
of course.
It was,
I mean,
I had it planned out.
I mean,
I'm so vindictive.
Because we were walking.
It was very sweet.
So Tanner knew.
So when I pulled up, when I got to the hotel, everybody was there.
And then for some reason, the girls went off and I went with Tanner.
And then he was like, so how do you feel about Ashley Day and someone else?
Oh, no.
Because he knew.
He definitely, he could tell by.
And I was like, yeah.
And he's like, yeah, I mean, everybody knows.
And then so he was like, yeah, you should definitely tell her.
Yeah.
A hundred percent tell her.
And then so we went to dinner that night and it was four of us and it wasn't the right place.
But the next morning we were on the beach.
and they had these little floaty pools in the ocean.
So anyway, so it was me, Tanner, Ashley, and Lauren.
And then I was like, Tanner, I need to get Ashley along.
So we were like, oh, let's go on the floaty pad.
And then Tanner was like, oh, Lauren, come here.
Can you help me with something really quickly?
So she walks away as Ashley and I go into the water.
And then Tanner was like, Jared's going to tell her that he loves your sister.
And she was like, what?
He's going to confess his love for Ashley.
We got to go over here.
And so we went into the water.
And then she sat on the pad.
And then I knew, again, how vindictive I am, but she lost Titanic.
So what I did was that when she was on there.
Indictive or romantic.
I don't know.
I guess a little bit of both because I knew it would work.
Because when she went on top, I was like, instead of me going on top, I'm going to go like this.
Yeah.
One, because I don't want to like sit awkwardly about telling this.
And plus my biceps would probably look better.
And then furthermore, I don't know if it's like subconscious to remind her of Titanic when Jack is on the door.
Yeah. Yeah.
And she's like looking at me this way.
Oh my God.
I know.
So I was like, I'll just do that.
And so, but it worked.
And so, of course, like, I was like, you know, explaining to her, like, I don't think it's a coincidence that neither one of us has had a relationship while I've been friends.
And there's definitely been more and more than I've been leading on.
And now you're dating this guy.
And, you know, I know, I'm, you know, I forget exactly what I say.
Another reason why men are dumb.
They need, you guys need us to go find someone else.
And then you're like, wait, actually.
I know.
Wait, I do love you.
It's so bad.
It's so bad.
It's just, yeah.
Yes, it's so bad.
But it worked.
But it worked.
But it worked.
And so, yeah.
So, of course, I was staying there and explaining how I felt and telling her that, like, you know, I've had more feelings for you than I've let on.
And I've just been, you know, confused and insecure and unsure how to, you know, move forward for us together as a couple because we've been friends for so long.
And it's been so turbulent.
You just kept foregoing your individual suites.
Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah.
But it's crazy to think that there was a time
when we weren't together.
I know.
It doesn't even make sense in my brain.
Like sometimes, like, even watching back my season,
I forget, like, I actually, like, had to cover my eyes so many times
because I'm like, you don't kiss your friends?
I know.
Seeing me with Ben H.
Like, certain things.
I'd be like, but that's, like, it's Jared's Ashley's husband.
That's why I, like, it's weird because people, like, even, like,
I'm sure when I talk about The Bachelorette, like, our season, our dates.
Like, I mean, yeah, it was definitely romantic.
back then, but I look back on it as so much more of like an experience with a friend.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And like going to the cranberries and like bonding over that moment.
Yeah.
And we still bond over it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I don't, and Ashley doesn't feel weird about it either.
Well, no, that's Ashley, I feel like because we're such good friends.
Same thing with like Jess.
Like I really thought about this moving forward with rewatching.
I'm like a lot of these people have families.
They have a wife and I always want to do this in like a respectful way.
Even, you know, Nick said no to coming on the podcast, but I understand that.
Of course.
He had a much different relationship.
Yeah.
If, like, for example, if I proposed to you.
You wouldn't be here.
We had a much more intimate relationship.
And then I was married to two kids.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know if I'd come on.
Yeah.
I completely frank, because that's a tough one.
I get it.
And we just fell out of the cranberries.
It was great.
We flew in helicopters.
And, like, I'm just so, I'm really good friends with you with Ashley, with
Ben with Jess.
Like,
it just feels like it's been a decade.
It's nice to reflect.
I'm glad you came and got to see the house in the studio.
And, well,
let me just actually say,
where can people go to Audreys?
Tell them.
Oh, yeah.
Audries is located in the South County Commons and South Kings from Rhode Island.
So we serve coffee,
wine, liquor, beer.
In all sincerity,
in my opinion,
our coffee is really good.
Our food is really good.
Our staff is great.
You know,
I think it's a testament is to the staff.
they do a great job of just like making everybody feel friendly and everybody like it makes me
so much happy it so makes me very happy when someone comes in and it's like hey bob hey adam
hey bill like how you doing oh hey ann yeah it's great a lot of first name basis and the food's great
and the drinks are great so south county comments so if you go to rhode island visit the beaches
check out audries amazing thank you so much keelan thank you
