Starting point is 00:02:37 two sisters that I really, really loved talking to. They're behind the popular podcast called OKSys. They dive into all things business, lifestyle, pop culture. The two sisters, they interview female entrepreneurs each week to talk about their current obsessions, whatever is going on in their lives, whether it's silly, informative, or both. In addition to interviewing women entrepreneurs, they're actually two badass entrepreneurs themselves. We talk about pretty much everything from mental health to vagina punches to sharing our deepest, darkest secrets in our confessions. We even throw in a can you not for you guys. So I'm so excited for you guys to hear this podcast. So please welcome Maddie and Scout of OKSys. You're sharing your
Starting point is 00:03:20 headset. That's the cutest thing ever. Well, yeah, because we are professional podcasters over here. you, girl. That's amazing. Okay, well, like, right off the bat, I just got a text from my therapist. We text. Um, and he said, let me go go down to it. This is the text I just got right before I came on here. Oh my God. She said, is everything okay? And I went, yeah? Why? And she goes, well, um, you're supposed to be here, five to six 30. And I was like, oh, shit. Um, yeah, that I didn't even have it in my calendar usually that's like priority on my list and I didn't even have it written down and I just feel like that's just so me right now in life I am a freaking hot mess dude we've been there I have missed therapy appointments and my therapist has called me thinking
Starting point is 00:04:12 there was an emergency and I was like nope just didn't put it in my Google I know what when you miss therapy it's a it's a red flag for sure that's what I think too I think they're like um because I know the last I usually don't miss therapy and the last time I did I was not in a good place and this was years ago and so I feel like she was like are you okay oh my god you have the same therapist for that long good for you I feel like I've had like seven okay you know what I've gone through a couple before I found her and then she was incredible and she's always been so amazing but now I feel like I've outgrown her a little bit because um I hope she doesn't listen to this because I love her so dearly and I just feel like she really helped me through getting out of my last
Starting point is 00:04:52 relationship and like help me be like have more self-love and all these things that And now I'm like, hey, I feel like I'm in a really good place. Now there's other things I could work on, but it's not things that she specializes it. It's totally fine to move on. Because then you get like a new perspective, you know, it's just like a new frame of mind. I've been through, I think, six. It's just hard to, the only reason I wouldn't want to switch is because then I would have to, like, give her the whole context all over again. That is what I don't.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Like, it took a year to get to, like, her really understanding who I am. And then you have to kind of like redo all that shit. Like that's where I have a little. There's so much to unpack and you're like, do I really have to start over and relive all these like traumatic moments in my life again? I have a one-sheater, you know? Like I got my feel. I got my paragraph and I'm like, this is the trauma.
Starting point is 00:05:41 This is the limiting beliefs. These are the moments that define my f*** up this. Yeah. How can we move on? Yeah. I walk in with like my enneagram number and like all my past traumas and I'm like, okay, where do I start? Okay, let's go here.
Starting point is 00:05:55 but I've learned that I do this because, so you don't have to stop me. You don't need to diagnose me there. I got you. I've got the tools here. That's so funny. Yeah, did you go through six because you grew them or because you didn't like them? My first therapist literally diagnosed me as clinical to chronic depressed, but yet he talked about himself the entire time. He was like a reality TV show therapist, and he just, like, talked about all of the cast members that he was meeting.
Starting point is 00:06:24 and I was like 16, so I was like, oh, this is therapy. And then I just moved around a lot and that insurance changes and whatever. And now I don't even do therapy. I hired a life coach because I'm like, I need someone on call 24-7. That's actually a genius idea. I should probably do that. Like, you can call them up anytime. So I have unlimited text, which is highly beneficial because when you're like in a shitty
Starting point is 00:06:52 moment, I can just send her a voice note, like, crying, like, here's what's going on. And then, you know, she doesn't get back to me maybe that second, but you release it. One more on demand. And then, you know, if I really need her, she'll call me in an emergency, but then we have, like, once a week meetings like therapy. It's fabulous. That does sound fabulous. Are you both, obviously, big advocates for therapy and all that, right? Yeah. Yeah. So Scout has bipolar disorder and what is it? Chronic depression? We don't know. They'll just add it to the list, you know? the general anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder. Great. And I, Maddie, I grew up kind of opposed to therapy because I thought it was like something for her. Like I was like, oh,
Starting point is 00:07:34 only people who like have large anxiety or depression issues have to go to therapy. And like, I'm not, why am I wasting someone's time? Like my issues are not as grandiose. well and behold uh you know well as long and behold we are all we're up exactly so it's just like it it surmounts and it and i you know i went to therapy for one specific issue and then i was like oh a child of divorce uh this type of trauma a heartbreak and it's just like you realize so much about it's not just for people with mental illness i think it should be a prerequisite for every single human being. You learn so much about yourself and this self-awareness that cultivates from it. It's amazing. And you learn how to navigate so many things of how you react
Starting point is 00:08:27 and why you react the way you do. It just saves you in relationships or workplace environments or with your family. Like it's even if, you know, like you said, you don't have a diagnosed something. You can find and learn so much about who you are and why. And why. that it's, like, fascinating for yourself to grow as a human being, knowing this kind of information. And yet, for some reason, they're still teaching us how to make an Isles-Triangle in seventh grade, like, is that about, okay, why are they not teaching us about mortgages, debt, paying taxes, mental health?
Starting point is 00:09:04 Like, why do you think that's going to change because it should by now? I hope so. My goal one day is when I retire is to just funnel money into a year, like college. It's just a year and you go to it after high school in between college and it's all about learning how to manage your mental health and your emotional side and your like emotional intelligence. And I just want to teach people because I mean so many people go through and like constipate their emotions and don't earn in touch with them and they go their whole lives without freaking understanding what's going on in their own body. And I think there has to be something that we offer
Starting point is 00:09:40 on a public service level. I agree. That's I mean there's so many like tools and resources like like you know you can text or whatever find there's the talk space and there's podcasts but why are they not teaching it in schools is such a great question but that's that's a fantastic idea and i think so many people who have like i i i can't even diagnose my anxiety or depression but i think it's hormonal because without fail that's when it like hits me in the face like 100 miles per hour like bam i'm like oh why did i just wake up so depressed in such a dark place and it's always that time of the month for me. But like so many years of my life and I think a lot of women can feel this way because of what they go through and hormones and guys just, I guess, are more quiet about it. But you feel
Starting point is 00:10:27 crazy and you feel like something's wrong with you. And for so long, I think I ruined relationships over my hormonal anxiety because I wasn't paying enough attention to it and I was letting myself spiral and get out of control. And it was like an out of body experience for me until I realized what it was until I went to a doctor, until I got on medication, that I was like, oh, no, I'm not crazy. I just have some sort of imbalance in me that would be the same if I had diabetes. I would take something. So it was, you know, until I was in my 30s to figure that out. And there's so many young girls who go through puberty at the age of 12 or whatever age they are could be feeling like they're crazy and they don't know how to express how they're feeling. Like it should just be
Starting point is 00:11:14 something everyone has to do. And we need to destigmatize taking medication. I mean, I haven't, but I know Scout does, I mean, she won't be walking unless she's on medication. So, but it's, have you read Untamed by Glennon Doyle? It's so funny that you say that. It's in my list of books to get because it's so many people have told me about it. Tonight. Tonight. Tonight. Like you now, Amazon next day order. Like do it on your freaking iPad. It's that important. It is so, there's a chapter where she says, like, here's not a like a prescription, but she's like, number one, take your meds. Number two, keep taking your meds. Like, when they start working, don't think like, oh, okay, like, why did I ever need to take meds? Like,
Starting point is 00:12:00 keep going. Yeah. And you just like destigmatizing. Tell me, is this. Look at it. You're like, yes. The one with the pretty cover says bestseller. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes. Oh, you'll try. You're going to save your bed. Caitlin, your life is going to be changed. I mean, just, like, thank us later. Like, oh, my God. I got it. I put buy now.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Amazing. It's your order. Boom. Boom. Love it. Amazon's really dangerous in the quarantine life. Like, I just get packed to daily. Online shopping or online anything because it's right at your fingertips.
Starting point is 00:12:30 You're like, let's do this. Okay, it's going to change my life. I'm so excited. So we all have something we're working on, perhaps a career change, finding a partner, procrastinating less. The hard part isn't identifying these goals. It's taking action. to accomplish those goals.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Thanks to Talkspace online therapy, finding a licensed therapist is easier than ever. You get matched with your perfect therapist right from your device and connect with them on your own schedule, from anywhere, at any time, and better yet, one month on Talkspace costs about the same amount as a single in-person therapy session, which is awesome and it makes it possible

I love that Talkspace is actually affordable and that you can send unlimited messages to your therapist and they will engage with you at least five days a week. The therapists on their network have experienced treating depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, relationship issues, food and eating, and much more so you'll be able to find someone who is the right match to help you through whatever it is that you want to talk about. Plus, the service is secure and private using the latest encryption technology to store client
Starting point is 00:13:36 information, so even though it might be on your phone or computer, you don't have to worry about any of your private information. The bottom line is that we all need somebody to talk to, and TalkSpace wants to give the licensed support we deserve at a price we can afford. To match with your perfect therapist, go to Talkspace.com or download the app. Make sure you use the code Vine to get $100 off your first month and show your support for the show. That's Vine and Talkspace.com.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Are you guys having white wine? So I only drink white wine. I only drink Sauvignon Blanc. Because she's a little snob. Yeah. You can get you over there with your white wine. That's okay. Whenever you enjoy, you've got to drink that.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I like your wine glasses. They look similar to me. I was going to say, we have like the exact same. I copied the blogger, Cvonnella. Oh, I copied my girlfriend. Yeah, they're good. I like them. But now I want more like antique, like, vintage ones.
Starting point is 00:14:33 So I think I'm going to online purchase that. Yeah. Amazon. I'll stand by if you want to do it right now. I wanted to jump back to the. medication thing for a second because I mean, I guess I've always just kind of been open about my life and my feelings that it seems so normal for me to share that kind of thing because I'm weirdly proud of being on something because it has changed my life. And I always want to
Starting point is 00:14:59 say like I don't, I'm not going to sit here and say, I'm on Selexa, so you should. Like people need to understand that they need to try different ones or not do it at all. Sometimes yoga can work for people. It depends on, you know, where you're at with stress. But I've always just been so open, like, I'm, like, proud to say that it just changed me as a human being to go on something. And I, I probably would have felt a lot of shame in that before therapy. But now I'm like, I'm awesome. I mean, you and me both, girl, Mads always makes fun of me because we'll be like ordering coffee and the brist. He'll be like, how are you doing? Or like, well, I'm bipolar, so I'm really depressed today. Like, I just say it. Like, I don't care. Like, if I was had a
Starting point is 00:15:39 migraine. I would tell you I had a migraine. And it's not that I want the world to know. It's just that I don't want it to be this weird thing when someone says it. Like just say it. Like say on bipolar. Say you have anxiety. Say you're depressed. Say you're on medication. We just got to like normalize it. Get to the point where it's not a big deal and therefore people can help themselves so much sooner than, you know, because they feel like it's okay. I mean, I've been on every medication under the moon and I've had some traumatizing experiences with medication. So for a while, I was super anti because I'm super sensitive. Like one time I couldn't get out of bed until 1 p.m.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Every day. Because it like knocked me out so much anyways. But then I got on one a year ago after Israel, when we went to Israel. And I have been... What is it called? Oh, I'm, oh God, I'm on the Chuta and Prozac. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Yeah. And that helps, that to you, that's your jam. Because yeah, it took me a couple too. The first one I tried was Zol-Zol-O-O-L-O-L-O-L-F. And it made me worse. I had the darkest thoughts in the middle of the night. I would get nighttime sweats. I would feel like I was going to puke.
Starting point is 00:16:48 And then that's so discouraging to people as well to be like, well, why would I try other things if it made me feel that way? But luckily, the next one I tried was the one that worked. Can I say one thing real quick if someone's listening to this, because this is a really good PSA, if someone's listening to this and they want to go on medication, do not go into a psychiatrist office and just take what they tell you. Please do all of your research because they're asked what the withdrawal symptoms are. Ask what the red flags are so you can get off it immediately.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Ask how long it takes because sometimes psychiatrists are just like, try this and then it's up. So really, really like come in with a list of 10 questions because one medication took me a month to withdraw from and I was crying hysterically for a month and my husband's like, what's going on with you? So just make sure that you have to advocate. for yourself in a psychiatrist's office. That's a really good point.
Starting point is 00:17:37 When did you, when were you diagnosed with bipolar? I had my first depressive episode when I was 14 and then I was diagnosed when I was 20 because I also had catatonia and psychosis. So when I was 20, I was diagnosed and I'm about to be 29 now. So it's been 15, 15 years. Yeah. Yeah. And that's been a long for the run.
Starting point is 00:18:02 It's just, I mean, I think the biggest thing I've learned is that what she has is a disease. I think in the beginning, I thought it was a phase or I thought it was because she wasn't, she was lazy or something. I think a lot of people have that stigma. And it's something that you're, we're conditions to believe when we see someone with a mental illness. And it really took her being like, mad, it's a disease. Like, I can't, I can't control this.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Like, it's, like, it's, like, it's. I think the biggest thing that helped me understand it is she went to college and loved college, like had the most amazing experience, but then she couldn't get out of bed, couldn't brush her teeth, like literal, just mundane things. And I was like, wait, but you love college. Like, no, no, I love it. But like, I literally am depressed. I was like, oh. And then I understood that it's something external to what is going on in your environment. It's something really, really inside you that you cannot control. So it's, so please don't be great.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Let me tell you. I have a great life. Like everything on paper is just great. Yeah. I've got this thing that likes ruining it. And how much has it helped you just to be aware of it and do your research and get on medication and like talk about it out loud? It took a really long time.
Starting point is 00:19:26 I had to drop out of college. I had to quit jobs. So I had to move back in with my parents. And so for a long time, I was called unfunctioning. Like, I couldn't hold any responsibility. And it wasn't until I met my husband who comes from the recovery background. He's actually almost 10 years sober. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Sorry, babe. I'm drinking. And he introduced me to support groups and, like, really taking ownership over your healing and your recovery. And so that was when I was 21. And I started really taking it seriously. but it took years before I was able to go back to school and start working and, you know, now I run my own business. And so I'm highly functioning now. I just know that when these moments visit me, that I'm safe, that I'm okay, that I can let them pass. They're just a human emotion
Starting point is 00:20:12 that I'm experiencing and there's no reason to like call everyone and scream 911 at the top of my lungs, you know, like I'll be okay. Yeah, that's incredible that you've gotten to that place. And I think it's so hard for people to understand, obviously, who don't suffer from, you know, even depression. Like, I think when I first met Jason and told him about, like, I go through these times every month of being, like, he couldn't really wrap his head around it because of the same things. He's like, you know, he has so much to be grateful for. And there's this. And, you know, he's such a helper. And he just wants to, like, remind me of how great I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:20:51 And I'm like, no, I understand all that. a pretty happy person and I'm pretty confident and I do have all these things going on but I'm just telling you that there is something that comes over me every month and it's like I'll talk through it with you if you're open to that and he was so great but it took him a little while to learn because again it's so hard to explain to someone who doesn't experience it and I know that you guys have your podcast and do talk a lot about mental health or you kind of talk about a lot of different things right yeah you want to say what we talk about No, do we? Do we have a lot of things that we talk about? Well, the biggest thing with us was
Starting point is 00:21:28 we believe that women are diverse and can have multiple interests, which is why we have a section on our podcast called Current Fixations, where we each kind of talk about something that we're currently obsessed with. And it's only because we're so phasing and we're just so, we're so interested in a lot of different aspects of the world. And I don't think we need to be tied down to like a niche and what have you. I think it's a really cliche thing for people to say, like, find your niche. It's like, well, what if I don't have one? And what if I like a lot of things?
Starting point is 00:22:01 So that's kind of where we premised our podcast and we always have a rad female guest on, which Caitlin, you're going to have to come on, okay, says. And, you know, we bring on women, our girl crushes that are either products that we love and female founded brands and companies, but then also influencers and all. Obviously, we're huge Bachelor fans. We bring on a lot of Bachelor people. And we just don't think that one type of woman is superior than the other. I think we can have, like, be obsessed with The Bachelor, but then talk about bipolar disorder.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Like, it doesn't have to be one or the other. So that's kind of where Oasis has been founded. And I think because we are sisters, we kind of bring this energy of, you know, like you're at a sleepover with your sister and we kind of make people feel comfortable. so it's not like a PR stunt and I think a lot of especially female entrepreneurs that come on to our podcast are like oh my god that was so easy like I was like ready to like say my bullet points and we're like no we don't you're your media training before coming out we're just like you're you're like a cool rad chick who owns a business like and let's talk about let's talk about your
Starting point is 00:23:11 skincare routine like so that's kind of all of the breadth of things we talk about it was born I love where it was born. It was born at the Ohio Valley in a spa. We were a little drunk von Rosei and we had just had massages and I had a podcast before this and I was like mad they don't have an episode and so we went into the business center and just recorded on our phone and ate triple chips and we were a little tipsy and I was like this is really fun and so we just started not really knowing where it would take us but it's been super fun. That's awesome so how long have you guys been doing it for? Two years we're coming up on two years. Oh because you guys it So you had the podcast two years ago, and then that's how, okay, I don't do math very much.
Starting point is 00:23:55 But I got it now. But that's cool because you guys have probably just proven. Like, you can have so many different topics and conversations with so many different women and different places in their life and things that they're passionate about and it's all over the map. Let's take a second. It is without a doubt that summer will look a bit different this year. Festivals, weddings, just brunching with friends, all seems like a thing of the past. but just because our plans might change doesn't mean our summer is canceled.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Absolutely not. Summer is still out there. We'll just have to work a little bit harder to make our summer moments happen. And Coors Light wants to be right there with you by making it easier to chill this summer. Starting with its new chill summer can featuring sunglasses that turn blue when the beer is cold and ready to drink. How cool is that? It's cool. It's cool.
Starting point is 00:24:42 No pun intended. Obviously, social distancing has paused many of our typical travel plans. for the summer, but that does not mean that you can't enjoy summer this year. So when you chill out this summer, grab a Coors Light, get outside, the sun isn't going anywhere. Coors Light is brewed with a three-step cold process, cold loggered, cold filtered, and cold packaged, so literally it's made to chill. And Coors Light is only 102 calories. Born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, 1978, Coors Light is refreshing, crisp, and only
Starting point is 00:25:10 102 calories. I've been trying to spend as much time as possible outside the summer with Jason and the Pups and just to enjoy summer, even though it doesn't look like summers of the past. It's just nice to sit outside either by yourself or with your quarantine and crack open a Coors Light. It makes summer feel like summer, you know? That's why Coors Light is the one I choose when I need a moment of chill. So when you want to reset the summer, reach for the beer that's made to chill. You can have Coorslight delivered to you by going to get.corslight.com and finding local delivery options near you.

So right now we're in San Diego. We were born and raised in San Diego. I live in San Diego and Mads lives in L.A., but she's staying with my dad for a few weeks because of quarantine. So we're able to be together.
Starting point is 00:26:41 but I drive up to L.A. pre-quarantine every other week for our business, for the podcast, and then our mom lives up there, too. So amazing. So do you guys, do you guys ever do a podcast remotely or you guys always make sure you're together? Well, well, we made a rule before quarantine. We would never do remote recordings because we hate the technology. We don't feel like there is this energy and the similar energy. And we also just, we love having the person in front of us and meeting them. So we actually swore off remote recordings. And so then when, you know, COVID hit, we obviously had to transition like everyone. But we did, we did solo episodes for like a month. I can't handle a remote recording with a guest. Yeah. So then, and then we kind of eased
Starting point is 00:27:25 in it because we, you know, knew that this is going to be going on for a long time. And, and I know you said this on your last podcast and you said also that you've been saying this a lot of times, but I will say it for you. It has opened us up to so many different. And, um, and I know you said this guests that we would have never had the opportunity to have on because we typically only do people in Los Angeles. So anyone from New York now, we've kind of like, oh, all the floodgates all these female girl crushes we love in New York. Like, come on. So it's actually been a blessing. I mean, obviously we prefer in person because it just like, it creates more of a relationship. We're not the type of podcast where you like come in. Also, we don't do it in a studio. We do it
Starting point is 00:28:05 at our mom's house. So it's like very comfortable. It's so funny. More and Elizabeth. Yeah, Lauren Elizabeth came over. She was like, I didn't even ask you like what this address was. I could have been kidnapped and like now I'm here in your home and like I'm dying. Like this is amazing. I'm in your couch. I'm on the, I'm in my like blanket. Like I'm ready. And that's, that's what you like is that in the studio, it just feels a little stale and a little sterile and a little sterile and even. And I don't know. It's just more of a fun, a fun vibe for us. I think people just feel so much comfortable in a home or with a blanket or like I always go back to thinking of things I like put myself in in I paint the picture I'm like yeah like at my therapist
Starting point is 00:28:44 office I love cuddling up on the couch with my blanket and I bring a warm tea and I just get cozy and that helps me and I feel like that's the same thing with podcasting um like just being in my home office having my dogs at my like well this one's on my lap and at my feet like it's just there's something about it that makes you feel more comfortable which I think makes you have better conversation um and it is the best when you can have guests over to your home to do that. But that's, yeah, I mean, good for you guys. You've been just doing so great. And I think it's cool that you two are sisters because I love my sister to death, but I know we would both go crazy if we tried to work together. We hear this all the time. Well, it's weird because Madstrode
Starting point is 00:29:26 make real fucking nuts before we started the podcast. And we actually, I think we've gone into one fight in two years since doing the podcast together. Like, this girl, I mean, I, she wouldn't do this for me, but I would do it for her. I would, like, literally, and I'm dead serious when I say this, I would jump in front of a gun for my sister, like, hands down. Like, I would do that. I'm also older, so I have, like, the maternal thing over her. She would probably run away and sacrifice me. But we used to fight, like, we've always been close our whole lives as sisters. You know, we're only three years apart, so it's not that big of a difference. But honestly, doing the podcast together has been so close. Like, she's my...
Starting point is 00:30:09 number one girl. That's that's really cool. Now I'm like, wait, should I have a podcast with my sister? Am I a terrible sister? I mean, it's a risk. It's really a risk. Like we, and we don't, we don't advise this. Like, don't go into a business, not knowing who you're going into business with and who your co-house is going to be. But we really didn't think about it because we didn't think it was going to be as big as it is. And we were influencers. Like, we had nothing. Like, we had no followers. So great. That's so cool, though. maybe our dad will listen and then all of a sudden like all these people are coming on the podcast and we had a live event with Cassie and Michelle Randolph and all these girls showed up and we're like
Starting point is 00:30:49 what the fuck like this is I mean it's weird yeah no but it's it's just you know when you're going into business with someone you really bet them and with us it kind of just fell into place and it was we're really really fortunate that it worked out like it could have gone very south but I think both of us were very, very different in our demeanors and our work ethics. Like, we're very intense with work, but it's in a different way. And I think kind of like the responsibilities of having a podcast just just fell into, into either of us. And I think we both are just on the same page of who we want to bring on and the type of women that were inspired by. So it just worked out that way. I love that. I love that you guys have inspiring women from all, you know, parts of the
Starting point is 00:31:34 What is that saying from all? Well, it's all walks of life, but all walks of, but that means that, no, but that means, like, that means we have, like, people who are, like, homeless and then rich people. Maybe that's not a bad idea. All industries, all industries, there we go. But I'm sure if you met a really inspiring homeless person, you'd have them on, too. 100%. A hundred percent.
Starting point is 00:32:04 A hundred percent. It's a worry of what they've been through in their life. But I'm sure with, with podcasting and with each other, or just being sisters in general, comes with some can you not? Can you not? Oh, yeah, baby. Yeah. I'm like, I've got to hear these and I want to see if I can, like, relate with my sister. But let's do some sister edition, can you not?
Starting point is 00:32:28 Okay. Let's skip the first one because we already talked about by four. But you do this funny. Okay. Can you not mention your bipolar on every episode, Scowl? Mads, can you not kick me off? No, wait, wait. Do we not discuss each one or we're just going to say them? No, we can discuss. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:47 But, yeah, we have a drinking game on Okay, sis, that every time I say bipolar, you have to take a shot because it's positive. And everyone just gets really shit-based. Yeah. Okay, Scout. Can you not kick me off the joint okay, sis tic-ta? I got kicked off the TikTok. Why?
Starting point is 00:33:04 Because I'm old, and obviously I can't do these dances correctly, and I make weird faces when I'm trying to concentrate, and I wasn't delivering the Gen Z content that Maddie was so looking for. Okay. Let me speak, please. Let me defend myself. So I discovered TikTok, and I was like, okay, like, you know, with everything else, if I'm going to be on social media,
Starting point is 00:33:27 I'm going to do it with OKSys, and that'll be the branding. And then I just kind of saw myself devoting so much time and really no return. No return. There is no one watching. And I was like, Scout, you're ruining it because like one day I'm going to go viral. Like it's just a manifestation. I write down every day. And it's just like it will happen for me.
Starting point is 00:33:53 And I don't want you to get any of the credit because I work so tirelessly on these stupid dances. I kicked off. And now it is at Maddie Mayo. Shameless plug. Everyone go follow on TikTok. You guys know the password. It's now under your name. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:09 I can pull it. I'm walking because we're like filming some like Instagram thing or whatever together. She's like so like I was just wondering if I could talk to you about something. And I'm like, yeah. She's like, do you mind if I like take over the O cases TikTok and rebrand? It's just me. And I was like, I probably already changed the password. Like there's no way for me to get in.
Starting point is 00:34:29 So now I created my own But I, you know what, like, I don't know I'm 20, almost 29, like I'm just not relating And I can't do the dances Like the woe isn't working for me I look like an idiot, you know, like it's just embarrassing I think the woe is already a passing trend Like I think it's gone
Starting point is 00:34:50 Oh, thank God, maybe I have a chance now You need to follow the right accounts on TikTok Because I'm 35 and I too was feeling like I wasn't relating to anything, and I was like, what is happening? I just, like, I can't get down. And then I started following, like, comedians and really funny accounts and cooking accounts and, like, ones that I actually are impressed by. And so now my algorithm is set up that I find, like, the best TikToks from it.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I know. I was telling her, she was like, what does she my TikTok brand be? And I was like, you should say, you should do, like, empowering messages. Because Skyl is, like, really spiritual. And I bring up the silliness in her, definitely in Oakesist. But, like, on her brand. and TikTok, and it's like, JoJo does on TikTok? How excited. I don't know why that excited me so much. She is literally an old grandma. So it's like, you should say like inspiring things. And then,
Starting point is 00:35:39 I don't know, I don't think it took off. It just, it just didn't really work for you. You know what? TikTok's not for everybody. Exactly. I've seen some really terrible ones be viral. So don't be too hard on yourself because it does. Or you could just keep going because sometimes the terrible ones, and I'm not saying you're terrible, but sometimes the terrible ones. go viral so who knows yeah one of mine went like semi viral and it was one of my we like dumbest ones I was so pissed at myself because I was just like forgot to put the 60 seconds on and you only put the no no no it wasn't that one it was the one where I was speaking to the to the camera but it was good one you don't think it was good but it was you can follow me at scouts so
Starting point is 00:36:19 video I want to see no don't well tell me on Instagram Caitlin like please don't look at my TikTok it's so embarrassing I'm definitely checking I signed up for a big sister, little sister, the big, whatever, whatever, I'm going to get a little sister. And I had the orientation today. And they were like, part of the thing is that we do a Google search. And I'm like, oh, oh, like, is my bikini picture not okay? Is my podcast not okay? Like, honestly, not trying to shoot my own war.
Starting point is 00:36:51 I came up from bipolar and I'm doing pretty well. I think I have a lot to offer to a seven-year-old. But maybe I talk about sex too much. Like, maybe I'll encourage the kid to masturbate without a guy. Like, I don't know if I'm the right person for this, but I believe in my heart I am. You know what? That's, I don't know how those systems work or what they're looking for, but that is the kind of big sister. We need for, you know, just like somebody that does have that honesty and isn't afraid to talk about those things.
Starting point is 00:37:20 And I think that's a role model if you ask me. Yeah, but a parent has to bet me, dude. like you'll be fine if they're if it's not if they don't approve you then they're not for you you are you have so much to offer scout that's true you'll find the right little girl that you're meant to be with and she's like a TikTok star and she's like please mom like please let me they'll be like help me help you you'll you'll be there for each other in very great they'll make me famous on TikTok oh god she's going to be the thing that makes you go viral there you go Good. All right, wait, I have to tell you guys something. So the other day, I was wearing the
Starting point is 00:37:59 cutest new white shirt, feeling great about it. Next thing you know, spilled on myself. Way to go, Caitlin. But seriously, I had to throw this white shirt in the trash because I couldn't get the stain out of it no matter what I tried. That is until I tried OxyClean White Revive. OxyClean White Revive revives your dingy whites, bringing them back to brilliant and bright. And it's safe on colors too. This is a serious game changer. It has 40% more whitening power than bleach per load without any of the negatives that come along with using chlorine bleach. It can save those items you thought were ruined and heading for the trash. I've had it happened to me on more than one occasion.
Starting point is 00:38:37 You've got to try OxyClean White Revive, Laundry, Whitener, and Stain Remover for yourself. To work your magic with OxyClean, go to OxyClean.com slash try me and order a free sample. That's OxyClean.com slash T-R-Y-M-E for a free stain fighting sample while supplies last. Okay, that was like one. Can you not? Okay. Yeah, we need to. Oh, this is my other one. Can you not forget your wallet every time we go to dinner together? Classic sister moves. That's a classic sister moves. That's for sure a universal thing. If you have a sister, you have, and if you're a little sister like me, you've done this. I did that to my sister all the time. Like when I, when I lived at home or like anytime we did something, it was my mom's birthday, dad's father's day, whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:39:24 My sister's like, do you want me to just put your name on it? Because we all know I'm going to buy it. And I was like, yes, please. Yeah. It's what little sisters are for? Yeah. We're there to have T-Rex arms and not be able to remember. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:39:40 That's incredible. Yeah, you know, it's not the best for me, but we'll... You know, she'll get you back sometime. Sometimes. She asked me, I asked her to come to wine with me on the roof. She's like, I'll only come if you buy me a barefoot blanket shit. I was like, what? Like, you're worth $130 an hour to spend their time with you?
Starting point is 00:39:58 Barefoot dreams. What is that? It's a Kardashian blanket. No, no, no. It's, no, it's this blanket that everyone has. The Kardashian blanket. It's like very, very cozy, but they're like $300. Laura Elizabeth's place.
Starting point is 00:40:13 And you're like, Scouts going to buy that for me one day. Why, I don't know. $300 for the blanket? Apparently, it's like life-changing. Oh, so you're $300. an hour to have wine with me. I mean, yeah. She knows her work.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Exactly. Okay. My next one is, can you not only drink Sauvian Blanc? So, Scott is a little snob as we iterated in the beginning, in the beginning of this episode. And I've actually been getting into natural wines.
Starting point is 00:40:46 And my boyfriend, he hasn't been a big wine drinker, but then lately... Scow, let's see. I mean, I'm all for natural deodorant, but natural wines taste like apple cider. Okay. You're not tasting the right wines. Anyways. So he... You're the ones that send me the natural wines. All the ones you give me, it tastes like nice cider. I've been giving her orange wines, which is this... I love orange wines. Okay. Okay. Yeah, well, and Scout is like weirdly... Okay, so that's what I'm saying. Can you not
Starting point is 00:41:14 only drink? Like, it's so annoying. I'm giving her these really nice bottles of wine. Like, me and my boyfriend have been, we're like drinking up a storm here in the quarantine and trying all these amazing winemakers are like very like boutiquey. And it's really cool to discover all these new people and it's very trendy. I don't know. I feel like you're natural, right? Yeah. Yes. I feel like they're, I'm going to try yours. Yes, you have to try mine. Well, we have to, of course we have to try yours. I haven't tried it yet, but I see it everywhere. And it's on my list. I'm sending you some white and you have to pretend you love it. I mean, do you not have a Sauvignon Blanc?
Starting point is 00:41:50 I don't, but I've been doing some pulls. But I've been doing some pulls and everybody wants a sad blanche. So I think we're going to do it next. Yeah. I'm waiting. I will be the first person to try that out. Yes. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Okay. One customer sold. I think you have a few more than me, but I will be gladly that first customer. We'll be right back with more off the line. Great Therapy. Hi, guys. I'm Bella Benson. Welcome to another episode with me on.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Too tired to be crazy. Transfer is all of the saliva into my mouth. So I just have to keep swallowing, trying to swallow it as his tongue is just like doing its thing, like all the way down my throat. Mortified. Like I wasn't scared anymore to admit what I need and to ask for what I need. And I just feel like it's like a whole new dating chapter for me, honestly. I typed in you and instead of going to YouTube, it went to you porn. Be sure to check out Too Tired to Be Crazy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Podcasts.
Starting point is 00:42:50 This is Austin Vine, Grape Therapy. The next one, which is a real problem for me, it's a trauma. Okay. Can you not punch me in the vagina? Oh, is that a thing? Oh, yeah. You have no idea. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:08 You hate my bone, like a pubic bone, like just like, her. And then I scream at my dad. Dad, Maddie's punching me in the vagina again, and nobody comes to my rescue. Wait, is this when you were kids or now? Now, this happened last week. Sometimes she comes near me and I flinched. I'm like, so let me. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:31 You explain yourself. I'm going to. Questions. So, Scout is very vulnerable. And it brings me the utmost joy to catch her at the most raw moment when she is just standing in the corner of the room with a glass of wine. And I go over there
Starting point is 00:43:52 Thinking that, you know She thinks I'm going to come talk to her And no, I just I just surprise her With a big punch to the vagina And you know what? The badge. Right in the badge.
Starting point is 00:44:08 And she deserves it. Like the bone? Like the badge bone. Yeah. I'm not like She's not going inside. She's going at the top Like we're the like landing strip
Starting point is 00:44:20 would be like that's where she's going wow that um i just weirdly touched that area just to see it's sensitivity level and that's got to hurt it's a bone it's a bolt so the moral of the story is that i would take a bullet for my sister and she would punch me in the vagina you know what it's just a little pee-p-wack and so all right that's what we're calling it now peepie whack literally she next to me, Caitlin, and I'm like... I am, like, so weird that now I, like, want to try it on my sister. Try it.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Try it on Jason, but I would like babies, like, very soon. Yeah. If I don't have babies, I'm going to blame it on you. Don't do it to a man. It's a little different for a man. With us, we don't have, you know, as much... I would say only do it to your sister. Right. Please don't do this to random women on the street.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Don't make it a big up trend. It's like the new challenge. new Instagram challenge. The new TikTok challenge. Oh, gosh. What have we started? Oh. Now I'm schvitzing.
Starting point is 00:45:28 She made me to be from the AC off because we didn't want it to interfere with the recording. I actually, mine just went on and I was like, oh, I wonder if they could hear that. No, we can't. We're good. Right. You're good. That's why I'm actually. I think those are all the can you not.
Starting point is 00:45:43 That's right. I love it. I love the sister, Can You Not? I think I did one with my sister a long time ago. which it's always fun. I run out of Can You Not Ideas? And it was really exciting for me to bring that back with you guys. So thank you for doing that with me.
Starting point is 00:45:57 And also just thank you for being on the podcast and thank you for your openness to everything you talk about and just normalizing what should be normalized and being open and funny about, you know, just real life shit. I absolutely love it. And I would love to be on your podcast and we'll definitely set that up and tell everybody where they can listen to your podcast and find you guys, especially on TikTok. Oh.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Don't follow Maddie. Maddie's at Maddie Mae on TikTok like you don't need to bother. If you're going to do anything, go to OKSys podcast on the all the places you listen to podcast. That's O K-A-Y space S-I-S and you can find this on Instagram at OkCase podcast. And if you like me more than Maddie, you'll follow me at Scout Sobel on TikTok. Oh, blame. Oh, thank you, Caitlin, for having us.
Starting point is 00:46:49 a dream i'm not getting away that easily i just realized that i didn't get you guys to confess and that's just like can't end a podcast without yeah yeah oh we've been thinking long and hard about that energy to waste so you thought about something for me and i that's my favorite part of the podcast so i my confession is that is a scout oh we never like discern truth i think we figured it out and scout um when I was in high school with my husband, actually. We broke up, but we were together in high school. We...
Starting point is 00:47:25 You broke up after, like, you were together, and then you broke up, and then now we are married. Yeah. Clarification. We, I was, I'm not going to say the age, but I was in high school, and we were house shopping, which we still do. We were like, I love that, you know, door. I love that window.
Starting point is 00:47:41 We were, like, driving through the mansions of San Diego. And we saw a mansion, and we said, that's the house we're going to live in. together when we're older we love everything about it i mean we're talking like a seven five to ten million dollar house like it's a huge mansion and my husband being the mischievous man that he is said hey i don't think anyone's in that house right now so we go up to the door and it's completely under construction like totally renovated like totally dusty boards everywhere like no kitchen nothing's in there so we break into the house and we're walking around this huge mansion and then we find
Starting point is 00:48:19 one room with one bed perfectly made and I lost my virginity that night and then the alarm went off in the middle of the sexual intercourse and we had to throw our clothes on and run very far away oh my wait where did the alarm come from it like just noticed in that moment you were there yes the sex yes it was crazy and I was like what the fuck is happening and so that's how I lost my virginity that's a great virginity loss story yes yeah that's and it's to my now husband which like really brings it full circle that's really sweet that's actually quite romantic yes yeah we're a nicholas sparks novel yeah you really are and what would have really like been full circles if you guys actually did buy that house okay oh my god one day you have to give me a few years one day it's 10 000 it's like
Starting point is 00:49:12 million dollars but one day we will i'm gonna knock i've always thought about like what if i knocked on their door. I was like, I just want to let you know that we're married now because of this house. That's so cute. Yeah. Great story. I like that one. All right, everyone. Let's take a second to talk about self-care and comfort. You know I'm all about comfort when it's that time of the month. You know Karen's in town. Comfort can often go out the window, but you've probably heard me talk about carefree breathe lately, which has made my period so much easier and, well, more carefree. Care-free breathe offers a line of skin-friendly pads and panty liners that go beyond leak protection to keep your skin dry and irritation-free.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Care-free breathe provides irritation-free protection for your most sensitive area and is clinically tested by dermatologists to meet sensitive skin standards. It's free from fragrances, dyes, and harsh irritants. For light days, reach for the pantyliners, and when you need more protection, don't worry they've got you covered with their super and overnight absorbencies. Sometimes in the past, like sleeping with a pad could be uncomfortable, you didn't get a great night's sleep, which is definitely not ideal, especially when you have to deal with other symptoms being on your period, cramps, everything that goes with it. The carefree breathe pads are actually comfortable and help you get through the night, which is very important. They're not irritating at all and keeps things dry and breathable down there.
Starting point is 00:50:37 And I love that when I use these products, I don't have to worry about my period, which lets me focus more on important things and helps me to get through that week pretty much. pretty much stress-free. For more information to buy, check out on Amazon or Walmart.com, or you may find it at your local grocery store or CVS. Okay, Matt, what's yours? Okay, so my confession, it's actually very,
Starting point is 00:50:59 it's very in tune with the current times of the Zoom recordings. Okay. So my full-time job, I work at a tech company, and we work with developers in the Middle East. These are men in the Middle East, and we have early morning calls with them
Starting point is 00:51:17 because they're in the Middle East. And usually I just need to listen in on these calls. I don't really need to participate. And it's like 7.30 in the morning. So I'm getting out of my shower. And just so you know, the Zoom is programmed so that the video does not come on
Starting point is 00:51:34 any other time that I've ever been on this call. And I was coming out of the shower. I'm like, oh, like I got to turn it on. And I turn it on in a low, and behold uh the tits out baby the tits were in the zoo um and oh shit thank god thank god i the middle eastern men were not on the phone on the call yet only one one woman colleague was on and i was and i realized obviously very quickly and i was like oh my god and i freaked out and um so it could have got really really bad but um it did have like a little discussion in our team like hey let's um
Starting point is 00:52:20 let's be sure that we don't answer the zoom with our tits hanging out and um yeah it was a nightmare but i learned my lesson and i've been like a group like email like subject no tits on no tits on zoom meetings please let's be respectful of the people oh my god it was a nightmare So, thank God, you know, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but still, like, I'm traumatized every time I turn on Zoom. Now I'm like, am I, am I, okay? You probably have nightmares. You know, when you, like, sleep naked and then you have nightmares that you're naked
Starting point is 00:52:57 in front of people, you probably put the Zoom titties out. Exactly. That's incredible. Those are great confessions. I was asking one of my girls on my team, because she always pre-listens to the podcast, and I said, have I ever talked to? about my period panties on my confession, and she was like, I don't think so. But I really feel like I did. So this might be a repeat. And if it is, I'm sorry to everybody. But I have never
Starting point is 00:53:27 gotten to a point in my relationships where my significant other will do my laundry. It's, I just like to keep it separate. You know, women in their undies and stuff happening down there. And it's just guys who don't grow up with sisters, like they don't understand. And so I guess he was just being kind and like threw in my colors with everything else. And he looked at me like he came out of the laundry room like, babe. And I was like, what? And he was like, you have brown spots on your panties. And my reaction was, oh, those are my period panties. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. It's still somewhat mortified and I don't get embarrassed easily, especially not in front of him. like everything's like kind of on the table with us except for period panties well the thing is
Starting point is 00:54:17 I feel like men think that period is is like red and blood and like looks actually like a red stain where it is not it is brown yeah yeah that's amazing yeah it was I was like yeah it's my period panties and he was like that a thing and I was like it is it really is you just like mine are basically like I always like to explain it like you know when adults have their blankie still from a child and it's like threads and shreds and it's like embarrassing
Starting point is 00:54:50 that's my period panties they're literally like just entangles and threads and strings hanging out and I'm like just hanging on to them because I know I'm like well I'm not getting sexy right now so I should have a separate drawer for those anyways it's such a treat talking to you ladies you're both just my kind of people and i have really enjoyed this
