Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Savannah Chrisley Knows Best: The Legal System, Love, & Looking Forward
Episode Date: March 14, 2023It’s been two years since Savannah Chrisley was on the mic with Kaitlyn, and it’s an understatement to say that a LOT has happened since their last conversation. Per usual, Savannah is no...t holding back as she opens up about all that has changed since 2021, including officially being “off” with her on-again,-off-again former fiancé, navigating life with her parents in prison, raising her siblings at just 25 years old, and finding herself through her new podcast, Unlocked. With all that’s going on, Savannah still manages to look on the bright side and continues to educate herself in the fight for her family. She reveals whether she’s resentful of her parents, what her dating life looks like now, how her relationship with God has evolved, and how she handles the negativity from the public eye. Kaitlyn wraps the pod by unlocking some of Savannah’s private life in a game of rapid-fire. And, don’t miss Kaitlyn on Savannah’s podcast for part one of their nothing-off-limits conversation! Okay, by-nose today I had a chance to chat with Savannah,
Chrisley from Chrisley knows best and growing up Chrisley.
She is just as outspoken as she is on the show and definitely had us laughing quite a few times.
She talks about her controversial relationship with her ex-fiance, Nick, the strained relationship with her other siblings that are not on the show, how their life changed once her family started doing the show, and what rumors she would squash if she could.
We also share a few more fave spots in Nashville and hear more about the beauty line that she started and where she sees herself in five years.
Okay, so, Savannah, we just got done with your podcast, Unlocked.
So everyone needs to go check that out because this will be kind of like a part two.
But it's not like we're continuing and on.
We're starting our own conversation.
But everyone should listen to that one.
I want to know how you like hosting a podcast.
Honestly, it was such a challenge at first.
Really?
Because I'm so used to having like an automatic filter on.
And so Aaron, who helps produce my podcast or really does all of it, she was like,
Hey, Savannah.
I'm like, stop.
You're too like, you know, just robots.
in a way.
Yeah.
Because being on TV for 10 years and having to, it was more of like a scripted comedy.
So having to like turn it off and then come on camera and, you know.
I never even thought about that.
Yeah.
It was really, really difficult.
And so it took a few episodes for me to be vulnerable, open up and not have to feel like
I had to have a beginning, middle, and end all in one episode.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, I didn't even think about that because you're so used to.
having like some sort of structure where it's like you start like this you have something in the
middle you end like this you have people all telling you where to go where to sit what to say
not always what to say but like in your what do you call those when you're like on the couch yeah
like uh your interviews excuse me bless you thanks my gosh rude um yeah so in the interviews and
that's the hard part is like on our show and it was the most messed up thing but even with you know
just real life stuff yeah my engagement that happened
Yeah.
It's like, all right, we need to have a beginning, middle, and end.
And I was like, that's not how relationships work.
Right.
You go through ebbs and flows.
We're not in a good space.
Yeah.
So we call it off.
And they were like, all right, well, once you call it off, then you're done with that on the show.
And I was like, no, I'm not because then we proceeded to date for three years after.
And they're like, we can't confuse the audience.
You're like, but this is my life.
Yeah.
I'm like, this is my life.
That's so interesting.
So they didn't want you to confuse the audience because of we need the
certain storyline. Yeah. And so the podcast has allowed me to be very open and honest and just like,
this is where my life's at. That is so different from reality TV. Yes. That must be really nice for you
to feel like you can just come in here and have like an hour to be you. Yeah. And that's,
I feel like I'm like finding myself through this process. Yeah. Because I'm able to say things I've
never been allowed to say. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah. You're like, I have control now. Exactly.
Like, bitches.
Seriously.
And the best part about it is there's literally execs at networks.
They're like, we've been watching your podcast.
Oh my God.
We love it.
Like, I feel like I'm just getting to know you.
Yes.
And I was like, yep, I was on TV for 10 years and had no voice whatsoever.
Yeah, that's nice for you.
I feel like you're in such a good place in your life now to want to have your voice heard.
Yes.
And TV can only do that so much.
We're a podcast.
It's like, you're like, this is my microphone now.
Exactly.
I love that.
you. Yeah. Um, what kind of content do you hope to cover on your podcast? And when you, actually,
let me ask you this. What made you start a podcast? Was it for that reason to have your own voice?
Yeah. So I started it so that I could have my own voice. Yeah. And I'd been wanting to do it forever.
But with the show and how much we filmed, like literally, we filmed 50 weeks out of the year.
Give us a lot between two shows. And so I never really had the time to do it. And then obviously when like life
went up in flames. I was given a lot of time back. So I was like, all right, this is the perfect time.
I feel like this is God, like stepping in. And I got with podcast one. Everyone there has been
absolutely awesome and such a great partnership. And I just started off. And it's, it's been great.
That's great. And I just went blank. So what was your full question? Oh, no, you answered it.
Okay. Yeah. I was why you started it. Oh, and what I hope to cover. Yeah. So,
from the very beginning I've said like I want to be 110% honest real vulnerable people may not like
what I have to say and that's okay too they're still tuning in exactly they're still tuning in
and I'm really going to take my podcast to a different level that I hope my followers will follow
me on of getting into the political realm in some way touching on it and not sitting saying oh
so yay, Republican, woo, Democrats, vice versa, whatever.
Not necessarily touching on that, just simply touching on facts and touching on things
that are now impacting my life, such as prison reform, sentencing reform, stuff like that,
and having my attorney on as well as some men and women who have spent time in the system.
And so I'm kind of going to dive into that a little bit.
Cool. So you have guests on and talk to them like professionals about that kind of thing.
Talk to professionals as well as people who have truly been impacted by the system because
no one understands how the system works until they're in it. And those are the best educators
are people who have truly been impacted by it. That's what's cool about having a podcast too is
bringing on professionals who actually know what they're talking about because you probably
get a lot of DMs or messages or people thinking they know what they're talking about. And you're
like, well, why don't we just bring in a professional and put it on my show. Exactly. And that's,
you know, whether it's U.S. senators or it's the director of the BOP, I've reached out to all
of these people requesting an interview. Yeah. So it's a matter of if they say yes, if they say no,
who knows, but it's worth a try. Yeah. And we'll see. You never know. You can't. You never know.
And that's the thing is social media has become such a game changer in so many aspects.
You know, you see when, you know, the election comes around.
So many people are advocating for their person on social media.
Yes.
And so it's such a big influence.
It really is.
I mean, there's a reason they call us influencers because people on the internet are influencing.
Yes.
And too, people listen.
And if I'm able to have.
an in-depth, honest, vulnerable conversation with someone in power, then maybe that will go
to show the people listening, you know what, that person really does care.
That person really wants to implement change.
And that's all that I'm looking to do is like, all right, if you're in a position of power,
such as the director of the BOP, like, let's, you want to implement change.
Let's work on implementing change.
Let's not just say it.
Let's do it.
Right.
And so that's kind of, I'm definitely taking my podcast in that.
realm of things. And my followers love it too because they're like, thank you. Obviously,
I was very tone deaf to it at the very beginning. But when you're tone deaf to something,
you start to educate yourself and learn and then you want to help others. Yeah. And you're not,
no one ever knows. Like, you're not concerned about prison reform. You've never been impacted by.
It doesn't impact your life. You know, and it's just the reality of it. None of us are really
advocating for something until it affects us. And then we feel it and we know it. Yeah. And you are
such a like passionate go-getter too where if you want to see change you're going to make it
happen if you want something career-wise if you want like I feel like you're such a go-getter
yeah I definitely am I love that that's incredible though and you're a hard worker so it's
it's good for you so last time we podcasted was 2021 so a lot has happened in the last couple
years yes I mean so were you engaged when we talked so I was part of the you're you were
apologizing to me on your podcast because you were kind of in the middle of something.
Yes. So I was engaged. What year did I get engaged? Google it. Google today.
I got engaged. I think it was the December of 2020 or 2019. Just Google. When did
Is this the guy that was a hockey player? Yes. Yes. Okay. Yeah. Okay. And it's so I don't,
I can't believe I don't even remember that. I feel like when so much stuff, first off, COVID and when so much like
trauma happens, you just kind of like start blanking stuff out. Right. But did you get the date,
Aaron? There's a lot more articles before that. I'm not going to. That's funny. I love how you
can laugh about it though. Oh, yeah. You have to. You really do have to. You got engaged in April of 2019.
That's a lie. I got engaged somewhere between then. I think it was December of 2019. I mean, I know it was
Christmas Eve.
Right.
So I think it was Christmas Eve of 2019.
And then we were like engaged for a year, called off the engagement.
And when we got engaged, I think it was for all the wrong reasons.
Yeah.
He played professional hockey.
His career was ending.
So I think he felt I was going to leave him because his career was ending.
Oh, yeah.
Athletes have some big insecurities around when that ends for them.
Yeah.
And so he proposed.
When he proposed, I knew it shouldn't have been happening.
right you knew in the moment this cannot be happening it was being filmed it was on TV it was so his
family was there my family was there it was not the way I would want it to go down right ever because
first off it was filmed it was like kind of contrived so I knew something was happening and I was like
this cannot be happening and it was I don't know everything was just wrong yeah time now granted
like I loved him I was in love with him it was just there was so much more
work that needed to be done before you got married.
Yeah.
And then we called off the engagement.
I think it was around the time that you and I.
Podcasted.
Podcasted.
And I did your podcast.
And he and I were so back and forth.
Like done together, off together.
Oh, you know, like it was so back and forth.
And I had said something.
I don't know what it was, but it, I maybe said, we talked, touched on relationships.
I maybe said like, yeah, I'm dating or something.
Yeah.
And because there were people in between he and I, you know?
So like, and that's where it got messy too.
Yeah.
The whole thing was just super messy.
We called off the engagement, continued dating for three years.
That is crazy.
Yeah.
Like I don't, because if you call off an engagement, are you like, oh, we just weren't ready yet, but we will be?
Is that kind of what the thought process was?
Yeah.
It was just kind of like, hey, there's a lot more work that we have to do before we do this.
I mean, he seemed to have some personal struggles too.
I know that you guys were very open about.
that on your Instagram and that's yeah okay so you might have heard me talk about the

So there was Antu.
I was at a place where I was like, let's do therapy.
Let's, like, you know, I need to do my own personal therapy.
We actually went to a therapist together.
yeah and she finally was like i can't help you guys no way yeah she said that yeah yeah so i don't know
if i ever heard that before like day one like don't know if i can help so it was like oh wow
three sessions in oh wow and she was like i don't know if i can help you guys she was like you just
we're getting nowhere in these sessions you two refuse to allow the other to communicate you're
not doing your own individual work in order to be able to do work together yeah and
It was really more so on him at first because everything I said was wrong, it was attacking was. So that was his own
insecurities. Really. Now, granted, I was no angel by any means. Because I had allowed resentment to build.
Yes. Then I became this angry person. Yes. That's just you, it's a downward spiral from there.
Yeah, it's hard to come back from a lot of resentment too. It is. That's so now you've moved on.
Yeah. You're in the dating world again. Yes. Can we talk? Well, I guess we can because we
talked about on your podcast. So you dated a guy on whatever we like to call it, Raya,
Raya, whatever. And he was in the Wall Street world and decided he couldn't continue a relationship
with you because of his career and everything that's going on with your parents and that
means so much in the media. Now, you liked this guy talking about resentment. Does that in any way
have you feeling resentful towards your parents because it could hold back? You know, that would be
it, I would, I could so see how people would see that and be like, wow, she's got to be really
pissed off about that or whatever, but I'm not like at all, just because I know who my parents
are. I know the things they have and have not done. I know the witch hunt when the government
wants someone, they want someone. They're going to do whatever it takes to make it look how they
need it to look. And so really, not at all. That's great. There's no resentment whatsoever. I love that
because at the end of the day they are your parents and you know, I know I've heard you say that
they've done so much for you.
And again, people can control this narrative and the media can control the narrative.
And to be honest, I don't even know if I know the full story.
But if somebody's listening, that doesn't know.
And we're not going headlines.
Yeah.
How would you explain the situation to them?
So everything started back in 2012.
Okay.
Which is crazy.
That is crazy.
11 years ago, all of this started.
And it is tax evasion, bank fraud, all the things that are, you know,
the government's been going after in the recent years.
And my dad had a former business partner who we like to say, you know what?
I guess he hired someone that was smarter than him because he had stolen millions of dollars from the company.
His business partner?
Yeah.
Is that guy in jail?
No, he actually signed multiple immunity deals with the government.
and yeah so and that's the part that's not in of course that's the public eye yeah they don't want
that no no they don't they don't talk about how there was a guy who signed multiple immunity deals
with the government and he lied to the government they allowed him to you know re-sign his immunity
deal right and he's the sole person that provided them all of their evidence and he said i did
all these things but they were at the instruction of mr and miss chrisley they knew about
it. And never one time did the government during trial, our attorneys looked at the FBI agent,
was like, you know what? You, all this evidence that you've submitted to the court, what have you
done to get it authenticated? Yeah. And the FBI agent just looked and was like, what are you
asking? And our attorney was like, you literally have Quantico, like at your fingertips.
Right. The FBI has every tool. Right. To verify that these emails came.
from the email you say they came from they have not been tampered with they are what you say they are
yeah and you didn't do anything to verify that these are 110 percent authentic and they're like now
no and they said no they didn't do that so that so that's the thing and that's why it's we have filed
you know we're filing an appeal in march okay well this month I guess and there's so many things that
in the public eye you know you see a headline oh
$36 million of bank fraud or, you know, tax evasion.
They didn't put in the headlines how the IRS had had $500,000 sitting in an account
at the IRS and never credited to my parents' Social Security numbers.
Oh, my gosh.
You had an IRS agent lying on the stand.
So that's the thing is you don't have these details that are out in the public eye.
And when you're a celebrity in the public eye, they are going to.
run with that? All you have to do is search for the press conference after the guilty verdict came
down. And you had everyone at the AUSA's office, you know, IRS, FBI. And their exact words were,
we hope this shows you that no one is above the law, including celebrities and TV personalities.
If they can't get away with it, neither can you.
so they're making like an example making an example and so you know because of that I will never forget the moment sitting in that courtroom a four week trial every single day and it took three days for the verdict to come back yeah and some of the questions that the jurors asked were appalling to me really like they didn't understand filing taxes extension
you know, the indictment.
They were like, so is the indictment guilt?
I'm like, what?
No, an indictment is not guilt.
Like, that is not saying it.
Interesting.
It was just so sad how our system works.
And, you know, because of all that, like I said, I remember, I will never forget.
It's like, now law and order used to be like my favorite show to watch.
Yeah.
Now like I can't even watch it.
Really?
So, like, I feel like it's such PTSD.
Totally.
that comes back.
Yeah.
And I will never forget, like, when the, when they stood up to read the verdicts,
it was like, guilty, guilty, guilty, like over and over and over again.
And I just saw the look on my parents' faces.
And I just, everything, like, they were just in tears.
Yeah.
And we were, because we were not expecting that.
We were like, there's no way.
So, like, in your opinion, and there is from.
everything you know, they're not guilty. No, no, 100%. And I hope that this appeal will show those
things. Yeah. Because we were never given an evidentiary hearing by the judge to show,
to prove that the accusations that we were making were true. Right. That federal prosecutors had lied,
that they had withheld evidence that could have shown innocence. Yeah. That, you know,
an IRS agent is lying on the stand. There were so many errors within.
the court that the judge was not having. And so I hope that when all of this comes out,
you know, it will prove that. But because of the things that were said, you know, my dad was
sentenced to 12 years and my mom's seven years. And seven years, too, for her, I'm like, her name
wasn't on a single bank loan. She went down, she got seven counts of bank fraud. Her name was not on a
single bank loan, not a single banker had said they had ever met her, that she had ever come into
their office, that she had ever dropped off a piece of paper, nothing. And she got seven years?
The only thing that tied her to those bank loans was being married to my dad. Holy. And even then,
you had a former business partner getting on the stand saying he had a signature stamp that he would
stamp their names to stuff he would cut and paste their signatures on bank loans he would
fabricate that and terrifying yeah like walking the jurors through how he did all of things
and inflated numbers and so it's that's and that's the terrifying part is there was not sufficient
evidence for her to convict her of any of that yeah and we even asked during sentencing
what date did miss chrisley apparently become part of the
this conspiracy.
Right.
The FBI agent said, what are, what are you asking me?
And our attorney goes, what day did Ms.
Chrisley become part of this conspiracy?
Yeah.
He was like, I mean, what, what are you, what are you wanting?
And our attorney goes up and rephrase the question.
What evidence do you have to show when Ms.
Chrisley became part of this conspiracy?
Yeah.
And he looks at our attorney and goes, if you're asking for a paper trail, I don't have one.
I just know she was.
Oh, that's not a valid answer?
No, not a valid answer at all.
And so...
How frustrating.
Yeah, so it is all very, very frustrating.
And...
I don't know how this system works.
So, like, is there a way they can get out sooner than this?
Yes.
Okay.
So that's the appeal that we're filing and showing the errors within the court.
Okay.
And things that were allowed to happen that should not have been allowed to happen.
You know, IRS agents lying.
on the stand, a huge Fourth Amendment violation, which is an illegal seizure. So they, an IRS,
a agent within the Georgia Department of Revenue had gone in and illegally seized a warehouse,
came in with a search warrant that was never even signed off on by a judge and intimidated the owner
of the warehouse. And he went in, seized everything and said that evidence came from that seizure.
Well, it was an illegal seizure. We, you know. So that's a.
thing that stuff that's not on headlines i mean you know your shit though which i love and at this point
that's and that's my thing it's like educating myself now on the system because my parents are sitting in
you know federal prison camps for 12 and seven years so it's now my job to bring awareness to it and to do
what i can educate myself and get in front of the right people because 12 years for
alleged bank fraud for and it came down to 17 million somehow they got their math wrong and it went from 36 to 17 million not sure where that number came from and 12 years and you see people rape murder yeah there was a warden at a prison in Dublin at all women's facility who had raped women and he got six months per woman disgusting so that's what I mean that is so messed up yeah
yeah so oh yeah that must just light a million fires under your ass to do everything you can well
gosh that's i mean you are you are the wrong daughter to mess with that is for sure because my
thing is it's guess what you can't fight with facts yeah that's so true you can't fight when i have
all these lawsuits against prisons you can't fight that okay peloton workouts are made to work for you

percent to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes on a DC ultra-fast charger. But are there any drawbacks
to the EV lifestyle? Yes, there are. You can unlock and start it with a digital key, which means
you'll have to get rid of that giant key chain that holds a special place in your heart.
You know the one with every key in your life since high school and all the key chains that come
with it. Another one, gas station beef jerky, okay? I'm talking about the shredded kind.
Wait, you can still get that. Scratch that one. The all-electric Hyundai. I
Ionic 6 when it comes to the minimal drawback electric vehicle lifestyle, we're thinking of every
mile. Hyundai, it's your journey. Extremely limited availability, EPA estimated 361 mile range
for Ionic 6.S.E. Long Range RWD with fully charged battery. Actual range varies based on
trim and other factors. Actual charge time varies based on charging unit output, temperature,
and other factors. But call 562-314-4-603 for complete details.
I mean, you are educating yourself. You are doing all this work. You have taken on a role as a
parent. Yeah. You are going through your own emotions. You are podcasting. You are
the real estateing. Like, how are you holding up mentally? I have.
such like a fighter mentality you really do and i think that comes from like childhood trauma and things
of that nature that it's like there is no option to give up yeah i and i have had my fair share of
depression tried committing suicide all of those things and now i'm just in a place in my life
tour it's like you know what i am not going to allow people to silence me yeah just because you
have power just because you are political figures i am not
going to allow myself to be silenced. And I've got a 10 and a 16 year old that miss their
mom and dad. Yeah. That want their mom and dad home that don't have mom to say prayers with them every
night. Right. And to me, that's the biggest reason to fight. Totally. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, I would want
you in my corner for anything. You are a fighter. You've been through so much. I just like,
do you have, do you feel like you have the support system to get through it? I do. I have some
really, I have a small group of friends around me.
Good.
And that's the way that I like it.
Yeah, I get that.
Because, you know, you can't trust many people.
Yeah.
And I just, you know, and I still have my dad's guidance.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which is I still talk to them.
Because you're able to talk to them, go there and visit.
Yeah.
So, like, I can talk to them on the phone.
We can email.
I can go visit every weekend.
Yeah.
Um, so for that, I'm grateful.
And that's my thing.
It's like, I try to find the positive in every situation.
Yeah.
Like, you've got people who are.
or in, you know, medium, maximum security prisons that don't ever get to see their families or
that have to see them behind a wall and don't get to touch, hug.
Right.
So for that, I'm like, you know what, that's a win for me.
I get to go.
I stay from eight to three Saturday and Sunday.
And, you know.
Good for you.
I mean, I would love to take just even a smidgen of your strength.
To be honest, I'll just take a little baby bite of that.
Hey, you've got it.
Oh, my gosh.
But you go through so much to be able to prove to yourself how strong.
you are.
Yeah.
And how are they holding up?
I'm sure you talk about this on your podcast.
Because your mom had some health scares.
Well, and that's the thing.
And that's the funny part is because that's what, you know, the media put out here that
she was at a federal medical facility and she's not.
She is at the camp that's adjacent to the medical facility, but she is not at the medical
facility.
Got it.
And so that's where the media likes to take a little bit of something.
and run with it and create a false headline.
And, you know, she's, she is a breast cancer survivor.
So she's got that.
She's got some other health issues.
Yeah.
But, you know, she's doing good.
She's, I talk to them, I see them.
It must help to have you and, and, you know, family be able to come there and support.
It is.
But it's also, people don't realize how much it impacts the family.
Oh, I can't even imagine.
Because I'm 25 years old and I'm spending every single weekend visiting my parents.
I am trying to get a 10-year-old and a 16-year-old up and ready.
I leave my house in the mornings at about 5 a.m. to go and visit mom.
I, you know, so I have to get up, get ready, get the little one ready.
As a working woman, too.
Yeah.
And so it's difficult.
But like I said, I'm blessed and grateful that I get to go and visit.
Yeah.
So I'm like, all right, I'm not going to complain about it.
My gosh. So how have your listeners and everybody that follows you? How have they supported your
vulnerability or responded to it? People are loving it because they feel like, okay, wait, I'm like actually
getting to know this person. Totally. And it's hard because the show kind of pigeonholed us.
And because of the show, people look at us and they're like, you lied to us. Yeah. Because we didn't
touch on any legal stuff on the show because we weren't allowed to. Yeah. But in turn, that makes
us look like we're the bad guys when reality we just had no control over it that even helps me like
as a viewer or like i i sometimes find myself naive to tv or to certain things like that where
that's why i'm so glad you have a podcast and that you can freely speak like this to me and use your
own podcast to be like here are some facts because media fuck with so many people so many people's
lives so many people's mental health so many people like
like they can twist and turn anything and they don't give a shit no no one cares god all they care
about is their headline and the check that comes along with it and then screw you and how it's made
you feel like obviously you can fight back with your own voice but how do you deal with people talking
so negatively about your family you know i tried to not now granted i have gotten a ton of it and it's just
like, all right, block, block, block.
But then also some people, it's just like, you'd have the nerve, like to, it's just baffling
to me.
It makes me think they have some secret that they're just like, you know what?
I have said that people better be careful who talk shit about us, because if their skeletons
were exposed, 100%.
They wouldn't, people wouldn't see too kindly to them.
No, absolutely not.
It's, I feel like maybe even your experience of having.
your voice and talking about all this.
Like, you know, there's different ways of therapy.
Yeah.
Speaking and having your own microphone has probably been cathartic for you.
Oh, 100%.
Yeah.
Because I'm finally able to put the truth out there.
Yes.
And I have a platform where I can put the truth.
I can put factual information out there to back up my truth.
Yes.
I, because that's my thing.
It's like anyone can preach their truth as long as they want to preach it.
But it really gets real when you're like, hey, look.
look, this is where my truths came from.
Yeah.
Go look it up.
Right.
Yeah.
And you're like, I think I know these people and what's happening better than anyone else.
Exactly.
Because if you did believe they were guilty or if this all happened, would you be able to say,
like you'd be able to be truthful about that?
You'd be like, well, yes, this is actually what happened and it sucks.
Exactly.
Because living a lie doesn't do good for anyone.
Right.
So it doesn't matter whether it's good, bad.
Living a lie does nothing.
and it eventually gets you to a place to where you're empty.
You have nothing to give.
Yeah.
So why not embrace the truth?
It may suck.
It may not be pretty, but it's my truth and it is what it is.
May I ask you a very deep religious question?
Yeah.
Just for my sake, when things like this happen, because you're religious.
Yeah.
When things like this happen, how do you talk to God and like what are your thoughts there?
because I have a friend right now who's quite religious and she's going through something and she feels angry.
And how do you see the good or the lesson?
You know, I talked about this on my podcast when all of this, like it was finally starting to set in.
And I was so angry.
I bet.
So angry.
And I was just like I could not have any sort of relationship with God in that moment.
Right.
I was like, why the heck are you allowing this to happen?
And why is it just like punch after punch after punch, there's not a win in sight.
Yeah.
And I've said it before.
I, and I want to pull it up.
Yeah, pull it up on here.
Because people, let me see, hold on.
It's an email from my dad.
And he and I had talked about it whenever he was there.
Yeah.
It was like one of the first emails.
And so I read this on my podcast, but it literally, like I had sent him a message.
and I said, I love you so much, Dad, and I love hearing your voice.
Thank you for calling today.
I said, I'm sitting here crying and just wanted to email you.
I've done good.
I've held it in and I've tried to channel you.
You're my strength.
I miss our good night and good morning text, and I miss all your Instagram messages, L.
O.L.
We'll never think they're annoying ever again.
My day gets brighter every time I see an email from you or I see your number pop up on my phone.
I can't wait to see you.
we're leaving bright and early and I cannot wait for your famous hugs that take every ounce
of anxiety away because it was so because I had spoken to him before about like his number like
how I'm missing his number pop up on my phone. It's like those it's stuff like that that you don't
realize. Yeah. And I said to him, I said, I'm so proud to call you my dad. You're one heck of a man.
I can't thank you enough for all the time, love and energy that you've invested in me. Also,
your walk with Christ absolutely amazes me. I know it may seem like I haven't listened to you this
past year, but I have been silently. I've watched your every move. Tonight I had to explain to
Chloe that just because we pray, that doesn't mean that what we want is going to happen in the
time frame we want to. And the only reason I was able to explain this is because I've watched
you continue to grow in your faith in the midst of adversity. I've watched you get kicked down
and still put your faith in God. So thank you. Thank you for leading by example. Because of you,
I'm getting closer to God every day. And he had said to me, I told you, you were going to, his response to
me was. I told you you were going to miss all my great content via Instagram. Guess I was right
again. I want you to give yourself some grace, fall in love with the real Savannah, the one I
raised that radiates a room with her kindness and compassion, not the one the world wants to
see. Remember to gain the world and lose your soul, then what have you. God is our constant.
He never leaves us or forsakes us. Sometimes when we pray, we become discouraged and angered
because God didn't do what we wanted. But remember at times when we don't.
see our prayers being answered, it's because what we prayed for wasn't enough and what God
wants us to have is better than what we've asked for. Or what we've prayed for isn't ready to
be delivered because he's training us up for something better that's coming that we haven't
earned yet or we're not ready to truly appreciate how powerful our God is. Yeah. And that was,
it literally like switched for me in that moment. And I was like, the fact that my dad is sitting
in a federal prison and it's able to have this insight. And it's just like, God's not ready for you
to have it yet. Yeah. Like you're not in a place to be able to appreciate it. Maybe what you're
praying for isn't big enough. And it just kind of flipped. Right. And it's now I'm just like,
you know what? It's going to happen. And I see little things lining up every single day that I'm like,
okay. Like this is a sign. This is some more positive information. Like this is going to help. So it's just a,
It's just having faith.
And especially since COVID, everyone's looking for something to believe in.
It's so true.
Like everyone wants something to believe in.
Yeah.
And I just have to realize that my mom's always said it right.
She's like, you know, when people talk about maybe not believing in God or believing
in God, my mom's like, you know what?
Let's just say, I believe in God.
And we get to the end of our life and we die.
and there is nothing, there is no God, there is no nothing, then, okay, what else is. I didn't lose
anything. That's true. She was like, but what if you don't believe and you get to the end of your life
and there is something? Yeah. Then you've lost everything. Yeah. Oh. And that's always hit with me.
Yeah. And it's just like I know that like God will never leave me nor forsake me. He will never give me more
than what I can bear. And it's just, I'd have to have faith that he is using my parents for
something good. Yeah. And there are stories in the Bible to where Paul was like falsely imprisoned.
And finally, the walls just came crumbling down because he continued to cry out and cry out. And so
there's so many things. I'm like, you know what? I know this is for good. Yeah. God's like,
Savannah's the strongest person I know. Let me put all of this on her because she's the only one in the
world that could handle it and turn it into a positive like there's you just have to or else you won't
go crazy yeah that's true i definitely i won't get too much into the like i i'm very spiritual and i believe
in a higher power for sure so to me that's like the universe and to you it's god and to other people
it might be something else you know what i mean but i believe in a higher power yeah yeah that's
and that was a really beautiful answer by the way thank you no of course that was insightful um and then i
heard that you guys are going to possibly be doing another TV show.
Yes.
Now, what would that look like?
It would be full-blown reality.
Okay.
So you'd have creative control.
You'd be able to be more of like your authentic self and it would be real.
This is like a little bit scripted.
Exactly.
Like see me and the kids and my grandmother and my siblings and, you know, me dating
and I hopefully get to see my parents walking through the doors.
Yeah.
coming home, you know, like stuff like that and truly touching on the appeals process,
touching on the projects that I'm getting involved in when it comes to creating and forcing
change within our system and creating a system that just is for rehabilitation and not just
tearing someone down. Right. You know, we've got a system to where the recidivism rate is out
the roof. It's the highest in the world. So our country has the highest in the world. So people,
repeat offenders, chances are
it's going to happen because we don't create
an environment to put people back out
into everyday life
that is healthy and that's conducive.
You can get Kim Kardashian on your podcast.
Hey, I know.
I've said it.
I've said it.
That's like a vision board thing.
Speaking it into existence.
Okay, two things.
I'm getting you on Dancing with the Stars
and Kim Kardashian is going to be on your podcast.
We're putting that into the universe.
Yes.
Oh my gosh.
Yes.
I mean, now you're going to hate me
because I touched on this and you touched on it actually and you said your dating life what is your dating
like right now I mean I am dating I am dating someone what one specific person not just on Raya
whatever just on Raya I am dating someone okay and so it's just right now I'm like okay I kind of want
to keep it like in a safe place yeah until you know for sure like okay is this what is this
going to turn into and people are just hateful it's so hateful people
are hateful, they're going to say, they're always going to compare to the last person you were with.
They're always. And I'm just like, you know what? Maybe I'm not quite ready to let you in on that.
Keep it sacred for a little while. Yes. And to people also, it's like, people are like, oh, because I went to New York for literally 48 hours.
And people were like, how irresponsible of you. You have two kids at home. Like, and I'm like, they're taken care of.
Of course.
Like, I make sure that someone is with them at all times.
And I'm sorry that for the first time in 40 days, have I done something for myself?
Yeah, they should be celebrating that for you.
Yeah.
Like, think of everything that you've had to do.
And you have been so responsible for 25, like I told you on your podcast, 25 years old,
I couldn't even take care of myself.
And you're holding down everything.
Take whatever you need.
Yeah.
I was like literally 48 hours.
Like for the first time in 40 days.
I've done something for myself.
And then I'm irresponsible.
I'm this and that.
Oh, my gosh.
So then it's just going to open up more when you bring in your dating life.
Exactly.
Have Grayson and Chloe met?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's good.
And too, because I'm like, you know what?
It's a package deal.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
In a way, in no way, shape, or form.
Am I ever anywhere close to their mother?
My mom.
Like, I had a breakdown.
So I was like, I don't know how she's done in all these years.
Like, she's an angel.
She's one of a kind.
So, like, in no way, shape, or form will I ever be their mother.
I'm still their sister.
But you do have full custody.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I'm like, now I see, like, single moms.
Like, how, how do you do it?
Like, you just, and so then I'm like, you know, it's just packaged deal.
I'm like, you want to go to dinner?
These two are coming along with.
See, I love it because I love that, again, no games.
This is how it is.
And if you want to be part of this.
you have to know what you're getting into this is what you're getting into guess what there's two kids
my parents aren't in the greatest place in the world right now like you know it all 110% transparency
if you're in you're in if you're out you're out yeah I love that yeah and he's in yeah I love it
that's exciting I know I know do they I feel like it's Chloe spicy oh very much so I feel like
very much so because didn't she say she knows because she was on your podcast
and had to be like, I don't want to get myself in trouble.
Yes, because I told her, I was like, girl, because you know how kids, they go to school,
they tell everything.
Yeah.
And I was like, just so you know, what goes on in this house is our business and it does not leave our house.
Yeah.
And then the other day she told Grayson something.
And I was like, what happened to our business stays here?
Yeah.
She goes, well, I mean, Grayson was in the house when I told him.
I was like, no, no, no.
Hold up.
That's not the rule.
Because she's 10, right?
Yeah.
Does she understand what's going on?
or is she too young?
She's in therapy.
She's been in constant therapy.
And she's working through that.
And luckily her therapist actually did work in like the court system.
Great.
So she was able to explain to her before, you know, she went to visitation, stuff like that.
And now she's, you know, she knows on the weekends we get to see mom and dad.
And it's not going to be like that forever.
Right.
It's temporary.
And so she's got a good glass on it.
I'm so glad you guys do get to see them.
Yeah.
It's the greatest thing in the world.
Yeah.
Like, we laugh, we cut up, we catch up on everything.
And they're in good spirits.
Yeah, they're in good spirits because they know that this is not permanent.
Right.
Like, they know that this is not permanent.
Do people treat them okay in there?
Yeah.
You know, they have made some really good friends in there.
Yeah.
Now, the system as a whole does not treat people well.
Right.
The system as a whole does not treat people well.
So you have each other to rely on in there.
and that's it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's scary.
Yeah.
It is.
Well, I'm just like rooting for you guys as a family.
I've talked to Justin Anderson because he's like, I know, we love it.
And he's just like, she is, because you really are educating yourself.
Yeah.
And I think that is so cool.
And it's something I'm sure your parents are so proud of you for how you're doing with all
of this.
Yeah.
Like all the responsibilities you've taken on everything you're doing to put your
one foot in front of the other and your best foot for it and keep going like yeah and you're showing
up i mean in every way that's my thing it's like i've been in a place to where i've been in the dumps
and i just lay in bed and i'm like where is this getting me yeah where is this getting me well i'm proud
of you thank you yeah thank you you are a little boss you know what there's far there's
far worse situations out here so i'm like you know what it could be worse wow really sure how
But it always could.
It always could. It always good.
Okay, I have a quick little rapid fire moment for you.
It's called unlocked.
See what I did there?
Oh, gosh.
I'm going to throw something.
Unlocked rapid fire questions to unlock your secrets.
Oh, Lord.
You don't have secrets.
Well, who is your boyfriend?
Just kidding.
Just kidding.
Okay.
What is the weirdest thing you've ever put in your mouth?
The weirdest I've ever been in my mouth.
I'll give you an example.
The other night I tasted breast milk for the first time.
Did you?
That was probably one of the weirdest things I've put in my mouth.
Or alligator tongue.
I've tried that.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
I'm not like adventurous when it comes to my mouth, y'all.
Not in weird, eh?
No.
What was that?
Not in weird, eh?
I am Canadian, but.
You know, I can't think of anything.
Come on.
I mean, I think one time I, like, went to eat Brie.
and, like, I didn't know how to eat it.
And I just, like, bit into it with, like, the plastic, like, the hard stuff on the outside.
Okay.
But, yeah.
Well, you never know what's going to come out of someone's mouth.
Okay.
Fair enough.
The reality show that I would choose to be on is the reality show, I would choose to be on
selling sunset.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, you would do good on that.
Okay.
What is the weirdest most awkward interview you've ever done?
Oh, weirdest most awkward?
Oh.
What would it be, Aaron?
I don't know.
It doesn't have to be like someone that was on yours.
You could have been like...
It could be something that I've done.
Well, I say, actually, I touched on it in an episode that's coming out with Stormy Warren.
Yeah.
He had made like a smart ass comment about my parents that did not go over well.
And it was like, it really hurt.
And I didn't know how to respond.
And I just kind of like started spitting stuff out.
And you did.
Yeah.
And I just like responded.
But I remember like it was so awkward.
You know when you like feel so uncomfortable and your whole body gets hot.
and like you don't even know what you're saying yeah that was that moment yeah that was that
did he did oh he did I love him now I want to preface it I have so much respect and love for him
because we then like saw each other at a baby shower and he came out to and immediately
apologized was like that's so uncalled for I shouldn't have said that so yeah I love when people
can own their mistakes I know the last person you'd want to be stuck in an elevator with
the last person oh the last person you know what
I would say ex-NBA player.
Oh.
X NBA player boyfriend.
I would have to full caught because chances are I'd be stuck in there with like 12 of other women too.
So, you know.
It'd be like a full, like, what is it called when people sit you down and it's like
intervention?
Intervention.
Yeah.
It would be like a full-blown intervention.
That's hilarious.
Okay.
Strangest place that I've ever gone to the bathroom is.
Strangers place I've ever gone to the bathroom?
I mean, definitely, I guess probably like,
the woods or like I was actually looking at some lands one time with my dad and there was like no one
out there and I was like I have got to go to the bathroom and I just jumped out the next day I know
he's sitting there with his phone recording me as I'm like squatting like yeah we're going to need
that evidence for the podcast yeah I probably have it I've got his phone so I definitely have it
send it over um the most starstruck I've ever been when meeting someone was oh the most starstruck
Oh, I would have to say that it would be meeting someone recently, Jimmy Fallon.
Oh, yeah.
And it was like the coolest experience ever because he like saw me walking down the hall.
And he was like, oh, my goodness, it's an angel.
He was like, you can't see me in my normal clothes.
You shouldn't see me in my suit.
No, wait.
Wait, where were you?
At the Jimmy Fallon show.
But I was like backstage.
Who are you on the Jimmy Fallon show with?
I don't know.
Oh, me Googling really fast.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
I was like so star-struck.
I was like, oh, that's the coolest thing ever.
You're the nicest human being ever.
But then, like, also kind of starstruck when Tina Faye was on Good Morning America and
talked about our show.
And they were like, what's the one thing during quarantine that, like, you're doing?
She was like, oh, my God, we, me and my family just sit and we die laughing and watch this
show.
Chris Lee knows best.
It's just amazing.
No way.
Yeah.
And I was like, oh my God, Tina Faye.
Like, Tina Faye and Jimmy Fallon are like two good ones.
Yeah. That's, I'll never forget the time I was on, I got to be on the Jimmy Fallon show for a hot second.
Really?
They, me and Quest Love did like a, they like pretended to be on The Bachelor and then I came out for like a second.
And then, but it was so funny because I wish I went on a time where he did TikToks, but this was back in the day where it was like Snapchat.
But he walked past my dressing room and he was like, oh my God, you're so.
funny. And I was like, what?
What? You said what? Put it out on my tombstone.
Literally. Jimmy Fallon said, I'm funny.
And he was like, eating an apple. And I was like, oh, you're funny. And I was like,
am I. That's the on stage. That's amazing. It's amazing. It was, yeah, it was great. I love him.
He seems like just a beauty to you. I know. Well, what else can people expect over the next
little while from you? Oh my gosh. Well, new show coming out, my cosmetic line.
Yes, sassy by Savannah. So it's been so fun.
It's been such a great project, and I've got everything from, you know, full face pallets to blow dryers, straighteners, the whole nine yards.
So it's been such a fun thing for me.
And I'm out here hustling.
You really are.
I don't have time to kill.
I'm like podcast, real estate, cosmetic line show.
You're traveling for work.
You're taking on big responsibilities and your weekends are taken up and you're dating.
Yeah.
Don't know.
Yeah.
I have anxiety.
I know. I'm like, okay, I just want one day to like stay home and do nothing. I have no responsibility. Yeah. Yeah, you need a day. You need a month off. I know. What can you do for you in the next few weeks that would like fill your cup? Honestly, going to El Pisteo in Beverly Hills is going to be my thing. Is that? Are you going to do it? I'm doing it. Good.
It's like just something like that. I'm like, I don't require much. Yeah. You know, but and then I'm going to take the kids on a fun vacation when school.
