Starting point is 00:02:14 Drink to your confessions and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor. Let's shake it up some more. Here's Caitlin. All right. Welcome to Grape Therapy. which is more like a scotch whiskey therapy this this time around which should be interesting for our family dinner after this that is the change of pace we need today is it because well we've been on a bender yes so is scotch and whiskey you're right well yeah how else we're going to get a bus
Starting point is 00:02:41 going that's true and we both are big scotch whiskey guys I think from the we are huge scotch and whiskey guys but I would say from the minute we found out about you going on dancing with the stars that was about a week and a half ago it's been a straight shot bender not totally true i did work out a couple times well i'm not saying you didn't work out but every night we've been going pretty hard i don't know i'm fighting the fact that we're on a bender we definitely were on a bender we're going to we're going to go through and we're going to do it until your birthday once your birthday we'll go do a little detox we'll detox but for now let's taste some whiskey i i figured we're going to be talking about my season that aired on monday and then hopefully we'll
Starting point is 00:03:22 never have to talk about my season again yeah okay deal uh i always remember after it aired i was like okay i'll just get through this it'll never have to you never have to re-watch it again five years later they drop this bomb on us yeah let's throw the nail in the coffin here right yeah just hammer that out and be done with it i was like if i'm going to make jason talk with me about monday night after already having you watch it with me i'm gonna feed you some whiskey better some delicious It's damn well better. Delicious whiskey. So why don't we start off?
Starting point is 00:03:54 Well, we're going to give everybody a little tasting notes, too, because if anybody else out there likes whiskey, you might be interested in these. So as we go through talking about the season and Dancing with the Stars announcement and everything like that, we'll mix in some of these drinks. So the first one, it's Napogue.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Napogue. And it's from an actual castle. Is it where? In Ireland? Scotland. Oh, my God. Well, how did I am I supposed to know? I don't have this in front of me.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Yeah. It's 12 years old. It's an exceptional single, oh, my God, I lied to you. It's Irish whiskey. Wow. It's an Irish whiskey. I always think that it's... And you got the bottle in front of you.
Starting point is 00:04:35 I can't even see the damn thing. I know. It's actually a really good first Irish whiskey to get into if you are new to Irish whiskey. I think because it's lighter because it's distilled three times, so it's not as strong. And it was named after a castle that was bought and restored by the founders in 1960s. It's a beautiful bottle. It's got like a little light blue label on it.
Starting point is 00:04:58 And if you're one of those people that get sucked in by a bottle, you'll get sucked in by this bottle. It's gorgeous. It is really beautiful. It makes me want to start drinking like hammer this. I want a cigar with this. Oh, okay. Without even looking at it.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Would you smoke a cigar? Of course. I've smoked him with you a couple times. I feel like you're funny when you smoke a cigar. Why? Because I think I'm just so badass. No, I feel like you grip it like it's a joint or something. Like your bot, you use your thumb and your pointer finger.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Oh, what am I supposed to do? You're supposed to, like, use your two fingers. Like, you're supposed to, like, it's a cigar. You use it like, you like it's a joint. Oh, I see. I see. Well, it feels right. How does it?
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yeah, it does. It doesn't, I don't have proper cigar etiquette, okay? But you do have proper joint etiquette. Okay, taste this one. I actually know I'm going to really like this one, because one, I like Irish whiskey and two, I like light ones. Okay. Ah, like a heavier one, too, but I'm going to try it.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Oh, yeah, wow. Oh, my gosh. You're actually, yeah, you're going to like that. It's really clean, smooth, and a little fruitiness. Napog. Here we go. Yeah. Just a little bit of fruitiness, which is perfect for that.
Starting point is 00:06:05 A little bit of spice. That is really, really good. Isn't it? It's smooth. You do get like a little bit. You're right. You get a little fruitiness, but I think it's got a little bit of a smoke to it at the end. and there's no there's okay we don't have any ice in this we're drinking a neat and there's
Starting point is 00:06:23 still no bite to this right this is nice right really good yeah we still have a few more to go so brace yourself you know what i love i love when you um when you're about to sip that you get this aroma smell it it's so damn good it is it's really really good that is right up my eye that makes sense why they say if you're just getting new to an irish whiskey go to that one that's very easy drinking. I have a question with you about whiskey. Were you always into whiskey? You were always like a girl. Let me say you're always a girl. I feel like that like you want to be able to hang with the boys. Like that's how you are. Were you like I'm going to get myself into whiskey or have you always just immediately liked it? I actually have always kind of enjoyed it. It was possibly one
Starting point is 00:07:04 of my first drinks because that's what was in my mom's liquor cabinet and that's why I had to steal. So I feel like I used to mix it with like Coke. And that's what I started on. You know, Most people start on, like, Mike's Hard Lemonade. I was like, nope. Going right to whiskey. I actually do. I really enjoy it. And it's so funny because on the season, all the guys would drink like light beers.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Yeah. Because everyone's trying to keep their gear tight during filming. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And every time, you know how they set your drink up before you get to the table? Like producers will have your drink ready and then you sit down. All the guys would be like, damn it, I got a light beer with the orange wheel. And I got scotch or whiskey on, not on the rocks. Neat.
Starting point is 00:07:44 So funny. That's great. Let's take a quick break. Though we are apart these days, we're sharing more and GEICO would just like to say thanks. Not a lot bothers you. I could see that you were like having a, you know, positive outlook on them rearing the season because we both feel like, you know, we wouldn't have what we have right now.
Starting point is 00:08:46 We didn't go through the show. It was five years ago. That's always nice to remember. But I didn't think you were going to watch it. Yeah, I didn't think I was going to watch it either. But I mean, okay, so let's just go through the timeline. And let's be honest about it. It comes out.
Starting point is 00:08:59 They tell us, producers tell us they're going to air it. First, you know, reaction, emotionally, I'm like frustrated as, I'm like, what the this is behind us years ago. We still, which is annoying, imagine being in a relationship. and every damn time you do an interview or you go on a show or you do anything, what's the first question? Always about your exes. Like it's never,
Starting point is 00:09:22 it can never just start with like what's going on. It's always about our exes. I'm sadly known for dating a bunch of men. You're known for dating one woman. Two now. So the thing is, you want to put it behind you and then you know that you have to relive it all over again. So that's the emotional side.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Plus, it's hard because my season, they claim to be the most like, controversial which makes it even harder to watch exactly but then you think about like the logic behind it and you put it I think this is anything in life like you emotionally get frustrated then you think logically hey listen without the show we both don't go in that limo that night we're not here today none of this exists so it's just part of we don't have a dog we don't have anything yeah so it's just part of not that we don't have anything but we don't have each other we don't have the life we have now and it's part of who we were by the way it was 2015 I know and I love I love you for
Starting point is 00:10:12 having that kind of positivity and living in the present, not the past, because it would be so easy to live in the past and so easy to let that get you. To be honest, I don't know if I could handle it. Well, no, I definitely couldn't handle it the way you did. It would really, I mean, it's hard, though, because I'm like, well, you just made out with Becca and, like, not that long ago, and that doesn't bother me. Like, if I were to rewatch it, I'd be like, blah, but it wouldn't like bother me. But if you were, you know, multiple women and not, you know, controversial, I would be like, I don't think I can do this. I mean, it was, it definitely bothered me, but it helped that, you know, first of all,
Starting point is 00:10:45 you and my mom were having a blast upstairs. Hilarious. Going after it. And I would just, like, pop in and out. I would check a little bit out. I'd be like, okay, it's a makeout scene. There's some of these guys that irritate me more than others. And then I decided.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And your friends with some of them, which makes it even weirder. Well, those guys, they're great. I have to say. Ben and Ben and. You're friends with Nick? Jared Ben, Ben, Ben Z. You know, Ben Z is the man. Ben Z should have been a bachelor.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Oh, I agree. That guy's a whole package. But he's getting married now and we're happy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're happy for it. I have to say, I know we've said this before, but you do react with logic to things and I react with emotion. Well, listen, anyone in the world reacts with emotion. I react with emotion too.
Starting point is 00:11:29 It's just the coping mechanism of saying, what good is it in reacting with immediate emotion? You have to hear yourself, but then you also have to think through it like principle versus ego. My ego's hurt. Oh, Caitlin's being out with a bunch of dudes. That was five years ago. Think about the logic. It makes, who the hell am I to be like, oh, like, mad at you or hold it against you? You went on a show with 30 dudes.
Starting point is 00:11:50 What a nice switcheruny for me. Here, have a little sip of a... Yeah, give me some more of this. I'm getting fired up. But no, I thought it was just... I know they're not my in-laws yet, but I have to say I, 1,000% won the in-law jackpot. To sit up there, your mom pulled me aside before. and she said, don't think of me as Jason's mom tonight.
Starting point is 00:12:11 I want to watch this with you. I am your support system. We're going to get through it. It was five years ago. You were exposed for something that actually does happen all the time on that show. And it's fine. We'll get through it. And I was like, I love you.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Yeah. Like, I love you because I had to watch it once before because I wanted to really see what it was going to be. And then I watched it again with her. I got all my emotions out when I watched it by myself. I laughed. I cried. I got hysterical at one point.
Starting point is 00:12:38 point. I felt angry at sometimes. And then at the end, I was like, that's a, like, what a cool experience. Then watching with your mom, I had already gotten out all my emotions. So it was fun to just sit back with her and kind of chirp some of the guys or like, your mom's like, let's do shots. It was, it ended up being so fun. And then your dad comes in with like a wrestlemania, like the belt and he's crushing beers with you. And I'm just like, God, I got into the right family. And I will say, people are probably listening to be like, dude, you live in the fucking La La Land. Like you're, okay, this. happens this I'll be honest how long have I known my parents 31 years I didn't expect that like I
Starting point is 00:13:14 didn't know what to expect so just so everyone has full disclosure going into this well my plan the reason we were at my parents house is because my mom's 60th birthday was Tuesday so we came in happy birthday day we came in to surprise them and the one thing I had asked Caitlin I said listen on Monday night I really don't want to deal with watching this in my parents house can we watch this before and if you know I'm going to just put full disclosure out I was like If you want to tweet, like write down what you want to tweet, have your manager tweet it. Like, let's just not distract the night with my family and just like blend this in. Yeah, and I agree.
Starting point is 00:13:46 But that was the original thought. So it's not like, I'm like, oh, yeah, like we live in this. Then we get here and also my mom's like, no, fuck that. We're watching. And your dad was like, I am absolutely not. Yeah. My dad was like, we'll play cards and have a good night. And it turned into what could have been.
Starting point is 00:14:02 And I feel like kind of a disaster was just an awesome weird bonding experience. experience. What a weird thing. And again, it's so nice to live in the present and not worry about the past and appreciate the past for what it's brought to us today. I also think for anyone out there that's in a relationship or has been in a toxic relationship, anyone that is holding your past to your current, anyone that is like taking your ex relationships and bringing it to the future, I think is very toxic. Like that is a part of your experience. It's part of who you are. created you. You have to let it go. The minute you and I started committing to one another is the minute that stuff's got to go out the door. And if you can't let it go, you can't punish the other
Starting point is 00:14:47 person for it. So don't be with them. Exactly. It's a choice. I understand it's a hard choice, but you have to make a decision because you're hurt one time. You can't hurt the other person for three and a half years. Oh, am I speaking about someone? Easy. But no. And just, you know, watching it back it's like I always think people are always like do you have regrets could you have handled things differently differently and I'm like I don't think I would do anything differently you know like I did what I needed to do to figure out how I felt and I felt very like that that's just that was my journey I can't take it back I can't have regrets that's how I did it and again everything has it gave me a voice and I've said this a million times to now have a podcast to empower other
Starting point is 00:15:35 women, to talk about sexuality, to normalize certain things, to, you know, feel empowered. I don't know. I just feel, I feel like it came from that. When I could have shut down and been angry, which I was for a little while, but like, it's, it's nice to, um, power through something that's hard and make a career at this. It's also like I remove my, if I've removed myself, the situation, just analyze it. You look at what happened, right? You went on a season.
Starting point is 00:16:01 There was a dude you kind of had a crush on before. So you let him go on the season. Big deal. You'll hook up with a guy because you're dating 30 guys. Big deal. Five years later, and you're criticized for us. Five years later, we're watching Hannah Brown season. And she had ended up to be engaged.
Starting point is 00:16:16 She then had agreed in one episode. She was engaged, broke the engagement off, agreed to a date with the guy who was a runner-up, Tyler. And then in that same episode, the guy who came in third or fourth Peter, they're celebrating about the fact that they banged four times in a windmill in the mother's fist pumping. the dad and mom are high-fiving each other. Don't say bang. Why? That's what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:16:39 It's like when you call my boobs titties. Okay. They bang, whatever you call. They get anything sex. They made love, whatever you call it. And I just remember watching that episode like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:16:52 I didn't watch your season, but I've clearly heard about it. And I'm like, wait a second, there's been a huge shift for good. And, you know, anyone that gives you hell can suck it. Wow. I respect the hell out of that statement right there. I feel like we need to move on to our next whiskey. Yeah, let's do it. First one, clearly I like the first one.
Starting point is 00:17:14 That's amazing. Okay. So this next one, it's called Aberlower. I like saying that. Yeah, Aberlower. It's Aberlower. Okay. So let me pull it up here. It's a single malt scotch whiskey. Now, I have a question for you. Do you know why it's what makes it a single malt? I do. Single malt is when it's distilled in a brewery, right? So, yeah, it comes from one distillery versus being mixed from multiple. Super smooth, single malt whiskey. Again, a great first single malt whiskey to try if you're just getting into it. I actually want to know, I want people out there.
Starting point is 00:17:52 If you, I'm not going to push you to go drink, obviously, even though that's part of my, have you heard about the wine club? But I'm saying, like, if you are into that or have like, some sort of desire to get into whiskey, I would suggest going and getting any of these ones I'm talking about because they are great for, like, if you want to get into it, you know what I mean? So why don't you have a sip of this one? It's the Aberlower.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Yep. Here we go. Aberlour. It is actually fruity and floral. It's so funny, just smelling it. It smells completely different. I want to see if you pick out one thing that is pretty hard to pick out. Oh, I can smell what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Oh, my God, that smells delicious. Is it nice? It's got, okay, so it's got, oh my God, I feel like Willie Wonka. You know those gobstoppers, how they have like a million different flavors? I feel like it's smooth, fruity, and then has like a roasty, like coffee-type flavor at the end. Okay, are you a connoisseur? Like it's chocolate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:56 You can taste that at the end. Like the hintiest hint of chocolate. See, to me, it seems more like a coffee bean, but that's the same world. It is like the Willy Wonka so many different layers Because at first you smell You can smell the fruits But then you can also smell the like hint of chocolate And then you taste it and the exact same thing happens
Starting point is 00:19:14 Alright, when I have Abrelauer I'm thinking about that one video that went viral With the girl who had kombucha for the first time Her like, she's all over the place But like delicious I want more of this No No
Starting point is 00:19:26 Well Come into it Yeah I like that I actually really like that one I like that they're really good really good I like that they're all different too it's nice that we're really tasting
Starting point is 00:19:39 like no ice no mix that was really good okay quick question for you is your home like mine cluttered with stuff you don't use anymore
Starting point is 00:19:48 like clothes and shoes you don't wear taking up valuable closet space old phones hiding in a drawer toys games that the kids aren't interested in anymore
Starting point is 00:19:58 I think you know what I'm talking about let me tell you about an app that you can use to sell this stuff. It's called Mercari. So Mercari is the selling app that makes it fast and easy to sell almost anything. You simply take a few picks, add a description, and boom, your item is listed. Mercari will even email you a shipping label when it sells. Everything ships to, so there are no meetups with strangers, because seriously, who wants to do that? The app has over 600,000 reviews on the app store with an average of 4.8 star rating, so why not give it a try? Not only can you
Starting point is 00:20:31 earn a few extra dollars, but you'll clear up valuable space in your home. And cleaning your home and getting rid of some of that extra stuff you no longer need is the best feeling. So don't let that stuff you don't use go to waste, sell or buy almost anything on Mercari. You can find Mercari on the app stores or on Mercari.com. That's M-E-R-C-A-R-I-M-C-A-R-R-R-C-R-R-R-R-R-R-E, the selling app. Okay, so let's talk about the news, the surprise, the thing that Chris Harrison delivered to me. So do you want me to give a little background to that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Okay. So I get a call from one of the producers. Oh, yeah. And they asked me, like, listen, Jason, this is a great opportunity back in television, full circle, full story for you to propose to Caitlin. And they were offering a Neil Lane ring. Yeah, they offered the Neil Lane ring, which is, I mean, listen, those generous AF. It's so generous.
Starting point is 00:21:26 They were, I want to give them credit to because people beat up producers. They were not, it started the conversation by saying, listen, no pressure. What, like, we totally respect you guys, whatever you want to do. If you want to do it, we're here to support it. If you don't end a story, we won't say another word. We'll get you a Neil Lane ring, which by the way, Neil Lane ring is like, you joke around. We joke around. No, of course.
Starting point is 00:21:48 They're incredible rings. So I gave it a day or two to think about it. And then it just hit me. I'm like, I don't, I just don't want our story, our next step. It all aligned with this part of your life. This part of your life was five years ago. And it's cool that they're replaying it. Greatest of all time seasons.
Starting point is 00:22:09 But like our story in our chapter don't need to have any type of tie in to what that was and when that was. Well, it's just the fact that actually they didn't show my proposal with Sean, I think out of respect for our relationship, which is the right move. They showed next, which I did not, I did not remember that breakup being that. hard to watch um but it was like do we really want to watch that whole season of me dating these men then breaking up with nick and then you proposing to me that just so weird no and i even thought like i went through this in my head i'm like think about our kids one day i'm like yeah i can i can share with them our proposal and then it's tied into that shit show and i'm sorry but you know it was
Starting point is 00:22:51 a shit show right excuse you you don't think it was a shit show a little bit so i politely declined they immediately are like nowhere like no worries and so the irony of all this is that i think that one of the day i declined it i asked kate i said hey kate gotta let you know i didn't even swing this by you i declined it you completely confirmed right decision yeah right decision confirmed that that was the move and so that was the end of story but the fact how the hell does this happen i'm wearing a button up shirt waist up waist down i have literally Nike sweatpants on so 2020 of you. In my freaking left pocket, I have my
Starting point is 00:23:33 ear pods. Aren't they AirPods? They are AirPods. Okay, good point. They're AirPods. Only because I kept calling them earpods and Brie called me out. She's like, they're AirPods, you nerd. And I was like, oh. I call them like iPods too. People are not iPods. iPods. Yeah, I think like iPhone. I don't know. Anyway, but then
Starting point is 00:23:49 we had no, I keep, people keep asking me, did you really not know about this? No idea. No idea. So when Chris Harrison pulled this bullshit, Caitlin pulled my pocket and he's like, oh my God, is that the ring, and I pull it out, it was my AirPods. Yeah, the case. I think you thought I was doing reverse psychology on you. Yeah. I was like, oh my God, you are proposing.
Starting point is 00:24:10 That's so funny. I was a roller coaster. And then I'm like, you thought you were going to take over his job? I was like, are you out of your mind? Yeah, Caitlin, stay humble bitch. Like, I think Chris Harrison's going to ask me to take over his job. Like, who do you think you are? But that's what I was singing because a dancing with the stars didn't even enter.
Starting point is 00:24:29 my brain. Not once. When I was telling my girlfriends, I was like, I got asked something, blah, blah, and they're like, dancing with the stars. I was like, what did you know? Like, I had no idea. No, because you and I, we called like five of your best friends after and your mom. No, the only one who got even close to guessing in the first three tries was your sister. People didn't guess that. No, after like my, my, um, dirty bookers girls. Oh, okay. Yeah. It was just so funny because it didn't even cross my mind. So when he said, people know what dirty bookers? mean by the way it's my book club and we don't read books um it's called dirty bookers can't make this shit actually we are reading white fragility right now that's awesome um so anyways he says
Starting point is 00:25:11 or when he said your life's about to change i was like this is something serious and that's why i'm like he's retiring i'm taking over but i was like no that's crazy but what else could it be and then he goes would you like to be on this season and dancing with the stars everyone you know who knows tv was like did you already know i'm like no no idea I had no idea. No idea. So that was, it was just such a full circle moment and I felt so many emotions in that moment because it again showed my resilience of like standing up for myself, standing up
Starting point is 00:25:43 for what I believe in, even if it cost me some gigs or some money or some certain things to stand up for myself, I did that. And five years later, it was just so full circle that like I get to do this now and it's even better timing now. I'm so grateful now. I've got the most supportive boyfriend in the world who's going to cheer me on every second of the way. I'm more mature now than I was then. I'm more grateful for things and opportunities now, which is weird.
Starting point is 00:26:11 But I'm just like, I just feel so honored. Yeah, and I think you should. And for me, when I look at that reaction, and I even talk to people I'm close with, I let them know that's not a reaction because Caitlin's going on a show or that Caitlin's going to be competing. for the mirror ball or anything like that that is just pure reaction that again again again again against all odds it's the full story it's the fact that five years ago this was taken from you things didn't work out you've always talked about it you've put it out there you wanted it you didn't go to college because you wanted to pursue dancer you this is like your mother's dream she was a dancer and that see the celebration the reaction was not the fact that
Starting point is 00:26:52 Caitlin's going on another show it was the fact that's on TV I just want to dance five years years you've pushed for something and no one no one in this franchise and someone could correct me if I'm wrong has been five years removed from their debut on the show and then put and do a show like this I think it speaks to a lot it says a lot about you who you are um what you put out there and what comes your way it's awesome it's awesome and I love you too and I mean like genuinely if someone asked me three months ago do you think be honest with me do you think Caitlin will ever get her shot at Dancing with Stars I'll be completely asked of you if I'm a betting man I'd be Like, no, there's no chance.
Starting point is 00:27:28 You are a betting man. There's no chance. And again, against all lives, you defy it. It's incredible. I said the same thing. Somebody asked me, I think it was Nikki Glazer when she was on my podcast. Not when I was on hers. When she was on mine, she said, oh, for sure you'll get on there.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And I said, no, Nicky, I promise you, I won't. I won't. My opportunity is gone. I would for sure love to. I don't even care if it's on TV. I just, to be in a setting with professional dancers. In a dance studio, eight to ten hours, just working my tits off, just dancing, is a dream. You could say work your tits off, I can't call them titties?
Starting point is 00:28:06 Yeah, no. Jason calls my boobs titties, and it makes me feel like it's, it makes me feel like it's like a college thing to say, like, oh, your titties. What do you call them? You call them boobs? What would you like me to call them? Breasts. Brests, okay. I'm going to call them breasts. Your breasts look fantastic, and then you're going to give me the weirdest look in the world. But titties is just so... Anyways.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Yeah, it's very... I agree. It's immature. It's immature. I mean, I'm immature. I have an immature sense of humor, so I don't know why that bugs me. If people could put out there what they call, what did we say, oh, banging, what people
Starting point is 00:28:39 call sex and what people call breasts. Yeah. What do you call a penis? You don't call it my penis. I call it a hammer. Yeah. That's what I mean. That's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:28:48 It's literally absurd. A hammer. Yeah, it's your hammer. you're dingling okay come on Jesus I don't call I call people who are silly a dingling you dumb dingling
Starting point is 00:29:06 I also want to say this too for people in relationships that have like a little banter with their partner about what's going on their life professionally like Caitlin and I we have that banter behind closed doors
Starting point is 00:29:16 and there are many times that I'm like Caitlin reel it the fuck in like I get that you you feel this strongly about certain someone and that you guys have had a bad past but listen like that certain someone has created this show that certain someone has given us what we have so like you know reel it in and katelyn will fight back no like i'm not gonna i will if i feel a certain way i'm going to talk it out
Starting point is 00:29:40 and we'll figure it out and i give them give you credit because you felt certain way you guys clearly had differences and you've come full circle and you both are on the same page and uh that's that's cool let me tell you something tell me Tell me. Let me tell you something. What is that? Oh, that's an S&L skit with Jim Carrey. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:30:02 To me, I would rather lose opportunities, lose money if it means standing up for what I believe is right. And that happened. And I have now spoken with Mike Fleiss and we sent each other to a very nice e-mails. and we are finally on the same page, and I don't care if that takes five years of some weird messiness. You know, it's come full circle, and we both are able to see eye to eye now. Yeah, I think it's great.
Starting point is 00:30:41 If there's any lesson to take away, question for you, it's like, I feel as though this conflict that has lingered for five years could have probably been resolved with just a one-on-one in person meeting. Do you agree or disagree? No, I agree. And I think that is some of the part. I love that you stand up for yourself, but if we're also looking back, right? Hindsight's 20.
Starting point is 00:31:03 If you just have, if you get to the root of issues, which a lot of people don't, and you understand each other's differences, there's usually a way to find common ground. Of course. Like, it's a life lesson. You just both have to be willing to get there. But it's amazing that five years later, both you did, two did it. You're on the same page. You're both
Starting point is 00:31:18 happy about what's next. And motherfucker, you are going on Danes with the stars. our video dancing with the stars dancing with the stars that was so funny we're so bombed well yeah
Starting point is 00:31:32 it was a big celebration how funny was that though like watching that the next day I can't we were like crying laughing and watching certain things like we're gonna have to break down that video about the things yeah little play by play

Starting point is 00:33:28 We'll be right back with more off-d-d-vine, grape therapy. Hey, I'm Autumn Calabrese, and I have a question for you. How do you do life? I might be a superstar trainer, but I'm also a boy-mom, sister, daughter, friend, and entrepreneur. You might think my life is all working out and cooking healthy, delicious recipes. But trust me, there is so much more to it, and this is it. This is all of those real moments you talk about with your family and friends. Ever wonder what else life has to offer?
Starting point is 00:33:57 Bring your curious appetite and let's do life together. Subscribe now at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Podcasts1.com. Now back to Off the Vine Grape Therapy. Okay, do you see the cocktail that's in front of you? It's beautiful. Isn't it? It's like layered and beautiful. It's got a whiskey low.
Starting point is 00:34:14 It's like on the bottom, it's lower, looks like whiskey. On the top, there's separation. and it looks like a cranberry juice with a strawberry in there. Is that what it is? Well, okay, so it's Bird Dogg, Whiskey Punch. Bird Dog. Isn't that exactly what it looks like? So Bird Dog is the whiskey and it's a punch.
Starting point is 00:34:29 So, okay, have a little sip and I'll tell you what's in it. Okay. This, by the way, it looks freaking delicious. I would never guess that this is a whiskey cocktail. I know. Bird Dog is actually the most awarded flavored whiskey and it comes in 13 different flavors. So this one is blackberry and peach. So I put 1.5.
Starting point is 00:34:47 ounces of the bird dog blackberry whiskey one point five ounces of the bird dog peach whiskey then i put 2.5 ounces of cranberry juice um i didn't have orange pellegrino but that is what the recipe calls for but i did a sugar-free lemonade instead which i think is really nice um and then i just garnished it with some fruit for anyone out there that says i'm not into whiskey and you want something a little lighter yeah this is the perfect hybrid of i don't want whiskey but i want to try whiskey and I want to make it like fruity and tasty. It tastes like a summer drink. They have so many good, unbelievable flavors. We have them all at home. Put me by the pool and let's have one of these every day. And I put it in the freezer before
Starting point is 00:35:26 trying. I just like it better that way. Yeah. So if you have the peach or blackberry and blackberry, you can make this punch. This is unbelievable. Isn't it good? It's so good. I know. I know. I would never, if I'm, if I was blindfolded, I wouldn't have a clue this is whiskey. It's how smooth and fruity it is. So you just, okay, I'll give you. I'll give you. little quick directions. Add bird dog, blackberry, bird dog peach
Starting point is 00:35:49 and cranberry juice to a shaker filled with ice add fresh ice to bird dog cocktail pouch. Do you saw the pouches right?
Starting point is 00:35:57 Yeah, they're so cool. Okay, and then you shake the shaker, strain it into a bird dog cocktail pouch. Maybe I'll put a picture of the cocktail pouch
Starting point is 00:36:05 on... It's a good idea. Because I've never seen anything like that. Oh, it's amazing. I've never seen the cocktail pouch. Add the orange
Starting point is 00:36:11 pellegrino or lemonade in my case and add a straw for a serving. You also. put a strawberry on top it, which is a nice touch. Yeah, so delicious. Ooh, that's good. It's nice, isn't it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:21 I want a sippy. That's a good summer drink right there. Makes me want to have one of those go to a country concert and just get banged up. And then bang. Yes. Yes, I love when Jason goes off the rails. Off the vine. I love it. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Okay, let's try the last one. This one is Woodenville. So this is really cool because two best friends wanted to start a whiskey. So they reached out to the guy, Dave, from Maker's Mark. I love Maker's Mark, too. Then they got Top Craft Whiskey two years in a row, so it looks like it worked out. So have a little sip of this one. I'm curious.
Starting point is 00:37:02 This one looks a bit darker, but it's because of this one flavor. And this bottle, it's like a beautiful rectangle. It's got more of a classic bourbon whiskey type feel to it. Right? like I look at this and I'm thinking bourbon whiskey. I'm thinking Maker's Mark. So it's funny that they did reach out to someone from Maker's Mark. Let's see what we got here.
Starting point is 00:37:21 I think you're going to like this one. What do you think? Really good. It's got a, this has got like a vanilla taste. It's not a vanilla flavoring. This is so funny. I have notes because I've been trying them into,
Starting point is 00:37:38 I'm like I want to have the notes in front of me and you don't and you've been nailing it. It smells like vanilla too. Yeah. But not too much. It's not too sweet. It's got like a really good bourbon mix, but has like these light flavors like vanilla and like, I don't know. Caramel.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Caramel. Caramel or caramel. Caramel. Caramel. Caramel. What do you say? Caramel. Caramel.
Starting point is 00:37:58 I don't know. You say caramel? No, I don't say caramel. Do you say caramel? I think I say caramel. Caramel. How do you say pasta? Carta.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Shut up. What? God. Yeah. So caramel. Dark chocolate. It's a little sweet at the end. and it's finished in port casks you know port port oh yeah
Starting point is 00:38:19 like you know a dessert wine dessert yeah yeah that's good that's a good bourbon whiskey right right oh see i definitely taste the carol it's funny how different all four of these are very different and all delicious i would recommend everyone gets a bottle of this and does it i would if i wish i could have done this uh blindfolded because you could like guess the flavors and like guess what type of um is it a you know irish whiskey what color panties i'm wearing yeah what what'd you say it's wrong with me what did you say i said what color panties i'm wearing okay i'm gonna stop you're fired up apparently oh okay we say a in buffalo we've done it since day one oh i really like that last one really good
Starting point is 00:39:08 wow okay okay i'm feeling good now i'm feeling great i know And this is the best because we're having homemade Chinese food tonight. Yes. My brother's making. Kung, pow, Brussels sprouts, low main. Hot and sour soup. Hot and sour soup. Chef Stephen Tardick in the house.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Oh my gosh. Let's give a shout out also to the chef that came yesterday for your mom's birthday. Oh, my God. She's absolutely amazing. Chef Alyssa from Charlotte. What I loved about her is I was panicking to figure out what to do for my mom. Obviously, we're in this unprecedented time. I don't want to go out to eat.
Starting point is 00:39:42 So we brought a chef in. And she responded within, you know, I only had like a week and a half notice. She put it together quickly, came. She had a sous chef who was so cool, Raven. And they did such. Poor Raven. I got her name wrong. What did you call her?
Starting point is 00:39:55 Braiden. Brayden. Because you're like, I love the name Brayden. Breeden. She was wearing a mask. They were both wearing masks because they're professional. And she said, when it was ruined? And I was like, nice to meet you, Braden.
Starting point is 00:40:06 It was literally unbelievable. I will tell you, anyone out there, a private chef, We had three bottles of paired wine and five people. So, you know, I'm a finance guy, right? So look at like the cost benefit. It was the same price as going out to a nice dinner. And the experience was so much more, how would you personalize? It was such a better person.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Like my mom was just living her best life yesterday. And also, if you go to my Instagram, she is the best human ever to surprise. Literally. Like, I only surprised her ever moving forward. Yeah, that was amazing. That was a really, really cool experience. And they've been doing a lot to give back to the community through all of this, too. So I really appreciated that.
Starting point is 00:40:56 What is her? Did you say her Instagram? So her Instagram, she does cooking classes. You know what's so funny? My mom, I was just idea. I went to good reviews in Charlotte and found her, came across her, had never heard of her. I told my mom about Chef Felicia. She knew all about her.
Starting point is 00:41:10 She does. She was Chef Elizabeth. Lissa, she's like, oh, that God, cooking classes. I think the coolest thing she does is she does camps with kids that she might to cook, but then she also partners to donate meals during this time. So her Instagram, chef, C-H-E-F-A-L-Y, Chef Alicia, whoa. Clearly the whiskey got to me. Chef Alyssa Charlotte, and that's C-L-T.
Starting point is 00:41:33 And so I want to put this out there. This is not a paid sponsorship. We did not get a free meal. I am not incentivized at all to give this endorsement. She was that great. Check her out. Her Instagram is pretty cool. She got some good stuff.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Yeah, it was really good. The best part of the, what was your favorite part of the meal yesterday? The poached lobster. Yeah. Pasta. She did a linguine lobster with corn, a nice basil oil type dressing, very summerish.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Yeah. I love, she did the suave with the pork tenderloin, and it's just, when you suvee anything, it's like butter. So, yeah, I'm good. Yeah, that's amazing. So also, while we're on the topic of, cocktails and food everyone go follow bitters and bread my friend best friend brie her husband
Starting point is 00:42:16 that's who my instagrammy goes to this this this this week biters and bread i literally i want to hire brie to take over my instagram i know just be like do all my stuff it's so good and they break down the recipes for like really impressive cocktails and food that you can do at home like it's just it's huge shout out um i also just to end the grape therapy i wanted to support a couple of Black-owned businesses that I've learned of recently thanks to my DMs to my Off the Vine Instagram account. So the first is Morax Prep, who you can find on Instagram at Morax Prep, M-O-R-A-X-Prep. It's a test prep and tutoring company based in Los Angeles. They provide in-home tutoring and test preparation services for kindergarten to grade 12 students. Oh, you guys don't say grade 12th grade.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Throughout L.A. and online services worldwide. So even if you're not in L.A., you have to look into this. Their focus is eliminating socioeconomic achievements in standardized testing and education, which is such an amazing mission. Their CEO is Mora K, I'm not, I might butcher the name, but Mora Karoo. I hope that's how I say it, at Mora Karoo on Instagram. And she's amazing herself. So you have to check her out as well.
Starting point is 00:43:36 The second company I want to shout out this week is Sheik Geeks, who you can follow on Instagram at Sheik.geeks, such a cute name. They make really cute Mac laptop cases, iPhone covers, and more, which we all need. They come in so many different styles and colors. Taylor, one of my vinos, said she ordered the Pinkberry Glitter case and absolutely loves it. So I think I'm going to order one for myself. Those make great gifts, too. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:44:02 Yeah. If you're anything like me and most of us, there, you want to do the right thing to keep your body's healthy in the long run. But even when we try really, really hard to eat all the healthy things, we're still most likely not getting all of the essential nutrients we need on a daily basis, which is annoying if you ask me. And that's exactly why I love ritual. Ritual, the obsessively researched vitamin for women.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Rituals essentials have the nutrients that most of us don't get enough of from food, all in their clean, absorbable forms, no shady additives or ingredients that can do more harm to your body than good. I've been taking these vitamins for some time now, and I have to say, I feel pretty amazing. I'm obsessed with the fact that they actually taste minty, like what? I'm so used to vitamins that make me feel gross after taking them. You know that feeling I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:44:51 And these are actually enjoyable to take. Plus, I know I'm doing something good for myself and my health. Way to go, KB. Pat on the old back. And something else I love, ritual is traceable and transparent. For obsessive label readers, all of rituals, vegan-friendly, sugar-free, non-GMO, gluten-free, and allergen-free ingredients, and their sources are out there for the whole world to see. Fill in the gaps in your diet with essential for women, a small step that helps support. a healthy foundation for your body. Visit ritual.com slash find to start your ritual today. Okay, well, thank you for doing this whiskey tasting, a little recap, hang with me. I hope you're feeling good.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Let's start. Your hat has somehow twisted to the side and you're holding your mic like you're about to drop a wrap. That's incredible. The whiskey has been fantastic. Thank you for having me. And we've got to go pack our bags. Get ready to go in L.A.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Yeah. Wow. Not right the second, but soon. Crazy. You know what we got to do first. All right. Celebrate your 35th birthday. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:46:10 It's tomorrow. Well, when this comes out, it'll be tomorrow. It's my birthday. You know what? All I really want for my birthday is two things. One is really shallow and one is really meaningful. Okay, let's hear it. So, okay, the really shallow one, I want, I just want everyone to become part of the member of the wine club and hang with me.
Starting point is 00:46:30 I'm going to do so many cool things. Like we're going to have wine tasting, online zooms. Like, it's going to be a really fun community to be a part of. So for my birthday, I want people to follow at Spade and Sparrow and, you know, be part of the wine club. The second thing I want is to pick a charity and say that all I want for my birthday is everyone that follows me or sees this or knows it's my birthday to donate even a dollar to. And I'm going to pick the charity. Obviously, it's something supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. So I'm going to pick one.
Starting point is 00:47:02 I am open to suggestions, what you think I should do. And that's what I'm going to ask for for my birthday, from friends, from family. I don't want anything this year. Okay, I can't guarantee you. You're not going to get anything. But what I can guarantee you is we can support that. I think another cool thing that we're doing behind the scenes, a company I founded is called restart.
Starting point is 00:47:24 And what we do is if we really focus on personal, professional, and financial wellness. And I don't know if you know all the details. about this but we're coming out with a restart scrunchy and we're still yeah of course i know that it's what do yeah we are um yeah we're coming out with the research scrunchy with you and there's going to be we're still getting everything together but part of the proceeds are going to go towards scholarships we're going to start creating scholarships for um those who are in need of scholarships for for books uh education and everything that goes in between so it's going to be a fun fun thing we're doing that's awesome i love to hear that and love to be um partnering with you
Starting point is 00:48:02 Do and restart. Here we go. Power couple. Am I allowed to say that? Now the whiskey's like settling in and I don't want to get off the podcast. Let's keep going. I'm like, you want to play a game before? Let's play a quick game.
Starting point is 00:48:18 You want to play a game? Yeah. All right, let's play a game. Okay, ready? This is just going to be a quick game of getting to know you better. Oh. I mean, I should ask the question and see if I know the answer. Okay, go.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Okay. What's something you always wanted to do as a child but never got to do it? Poker player. Poker player is pro poker player or pro hockey player. If you were in a witness protection program, what would be your new name and where would you go? Ooh, you would be like a, um, something Italian. You'd be like a Roberto Rico. Yeah, and you'd go to Italy because you're one, because you're one percent.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Because I'm one percent. Yeah. I would be Rico and I'd go somewhere in Europe. Okay. I say Rico, because one of my best buddies just named his son, Rico, and I like that. I actually like it, too. It's cute. Strangest thing you've ever eaten.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Oh, you ate something on your date with Becca. That was like a scorpion or something. Yeah, we eat crickets. Gross. Gross. What famous artist, dead or alive, would you want to paint your portrait? What do you think? I think you'd pick Picasso.
Starting point is 00:49:23 I think Picasso's really cool. I think his story is really cool. He only sold one painting, I think, while he was alive. And think about the success. he had after. Isn't that I'm saying? Yeah. What's the dumbest thing you've ever cried about not getting to a fantasy suite?
Starting point is 00:49:42 Was that a dumb reason, though? Yeah. What's the dumbest thing you've ever cried about? I think you nailed that. I think you nailed it. If you could rid the world of one disease, what would it be? Cancer. Cancer.
Starting point is 00:49:58 You know, obviously the first, what's not a disease? Oh, Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's, cancer, like top of mine, and that if I could rid of one virus, COVID-19. COVID. Yeah. What board game do you hate the most?
Starting point is 00:50:11 Snakes and ladders. Not a scrabble guy. What? I love... Numbers, not words. Okay. If you could get away with a crime, would you?
Starting point is 00:50:21 Go? No, I don't think you would. No, I would. Oh. What would it be? I just think there's so many, like, I watched this Jeffrey Epstein documentary, and I'm like,
Starting point is 00:50:30 This guy, like a guy, like a little douchebag, son of a bitch like that, I'd love to, like, rob that guy for like $100 million and do good with it. Oh, I like that. Yeah. Tushay. Okay. Who's your first celebrity crush? Topanga.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Nope. Keep going. Oh, Pink Power Ranger. Got it. What's the worst thing you ever did as a child and what was your punishment? Keep going. We talked about this last night. I never did anything wrong.
Starting point is 00:50:54 No. You snuck out of your room and ran across the roof and you. thought you were going to get spanked so you put on all your tidy whiteies that you had in your drawer and your dad just wanted to talk about it and find out the why you did it. I got grounded. You dealt? I got grounded. I was like 007. I'm like, I'm going to sneak out. I went on the roof,
Starting point is 00:51:14 climbed on the roof. Of course, mid roof. My mom caught me. I got punished. And then she said, your father will deal with you here soon. I was very young. So I put on all my tidy whiteies because I thought I was going to get spanked. And then my dad didn't even spank me. I had like 80 pairs of tiny whiteys on to help the impact. And all he wanted to do was talk about it. I'm like, shit.
Starting point is 00:51:30 What song would you sing for American Idol audition? Fly Me to the Moon? Nope. What? Aladdin. Nope. Hamilton. Hamilton would be up there, nope.
