Starting point is 00:00:00 A visionary is really good at solving problems and creating ideas, where an integrator is naturally really good at building systems, structures, and also execution, okay? Welcome everybody, you are listening to the Omni Channel podcast, a podcast from digital marketers to digital marketers. I'm your host Dominiqueique Caldegrant, and my mission is to help fellow marketers and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses online. So buckle up and let's get started. Hello everyone. Happy Monday.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Today, we are going to talk about business roles and why they are so important in your business. I hope everyone is doing wonderfully and you had a great weekend. Now, the reason why I want to bring this up, especially now, is because, first of all, I know that a lot of you are not familiar with these concepts and the second one is that i talked to a lot of entrepreneurs that are not in a correct role in your businesses and it literally burns them out and exhausts them to a degree that i think is completely unnecessary okay so if you are familiar with this book um it's called the rocket fuel and essentially it says there are two main roles of a business owner um one is the integrator and the other one is the visionary okay so both of these roles are um they naturally have their own strengths and weaknesses, okay?
Starting point is 00:01:47 So for example, a visionary is really good at solving problems and creating ideas, where an integrator is naturally really good at building systems, structures, and also execution, okay? So, and also seeing what's missing and where to, you know, optimize and execute. So based on these two roles, obviously, as a direct consequence, it also means that a visionary has a really hard time with execution, sometimes we'd follow through and it's because they are naturally very good at generating ideas. Well, the bad thing about this is that, first of all, most of business owners are visionaries, okay? So that's the bad thing because that also means that there are a lot of you that are constantly generating ideas, coming up with new stuff.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And maybe, I don't know, 5% of that, you actually move forward and do it in your business. They enjoy systemizing where a visionary actually has difficulties to systemize, to build structures. And it's so interesting to see how those different categories of people come together and to work together. So the idea of this is that if you are a visionary and you find yourself an integrator and, you know, gang up with that person so that your business can grow. Your ideas that you generate are actually being taken care of and being executed and systemized. And if you are, sorry, if you are essentially an integrator, then you have to find yourself a visionary who gives you those inputs, those ideas, those visions that you can then deploy in your business. So essentially, it's always good to have that two persons in each businesses. And it also helps you to see where you fit in yourself okay i speak to a lot of
Starting point is 00:04:08 natural integrators and it blows my mind because they genuinely genuinely enjoy the creative process of systemizing they genuinely enjoyed excel sheets they enjoy coming up with you know plans and structures and everything is documented and it's it's so interesting how you know the length they are going to systemize and organize and all of that and it's so funny because I speak to a lot of you know visionaries that genuinely have ideas all the time they have the most amazing ideas they come to me and they are like oh i want to do this and this and that and just like this just blows my mind how naturally that comes to them so just like i said optimally it would be really good if you first of all identify yourself where you are in this scale are you like do you like systemizing do you like do you like
Starting point is 00:05:08 um structuring do you like to get things done or do you genuinely enjoy creative ideas like are you more on the creative side and just coming up with solutions you're really good at that then you are more leaning towards visionary. There is a test that you can take if you'd like to. Just check out Rocket Fuel Test, Visionary Integrator Test, and you can figure out for yourself which one of that, if this description was not enough for you, you can figure out where you fit in more in your business. Now, I want to take you a step further tomorrow and talk about the other roles that are in the business.
Starting point is 00:05:52 You know, there are different concepts on business roles, but this is just an introduction, essentially. But just to be very realistic with you, of course, I see visionaries doing integrator tasks all the time and to be honest with you it's not that just because you are one or the other it it doesn't mean that you need to stop yourself from from getting into a role that's not yours, right? Because especially in small businesses, we do see tired business owners that are visionaries doing integrator stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And that's not something that you can avoid because of cashflow, because you're just starting out, because of many reasons, you can be wearing many hats in your business, okay? So that's completely okay um to be on that is just that what you will notice is that over time the fact that you are a visionary and you put yourself in a role of an integrator it's just gonna drain you okay it is draining for you when you put an integrator into a building role into a strategic you know
Starting point is 00:07:06 strategizing accelerating role they are thriving in it they genuinely enjoy okay so that's why it's important for you to see where you fit in yourself and be mindful that okay i am the visionary and i this is hard for me because i'm the visionary and it's not where my natural talents shine again it's not to get yourself into a victim mentality and say okay well i'm the visionary uh that's why it's you know it's not easy for me but i can do it nonetheless so you can fulfill any role in your business even if you are the visionary you can take on different hats it's just that it's actually necessary for you to know what are those roles as well like when you are doing it when you're building your own funnels when you're doing your own ads when you're doing
Starting point is 00:07:56 whatever you're doing that is not sitting in the seat of visionary and you know generating ideas or mainly handling sales in your business it doesn't mean you can't do it it just means that it's it feels more draining to you and it feels more unnatural to you now i do speak with integrators thankfully they exist thankfully they have their amazing systems they genuinely enjoy those things but I think I would say majority of my clientele are visionaries and I tend to attract them a lot and I always see that exhaustion that's that overdrive that they get itself into and if you can get into a point where you have clientele and you have some cash then i want you to do the following okay so you don't have to have a lot of you know cash you can hire vas for certain tasks at the beginning um if you don't have the money to invest in hiring an integrator for example to your
Starting point is 00:08:59 business but i genuinely want you to think about the following. What are the three activities in your business? I'm like three activities in your business. So what are the three activities in your business that currently bring you the most money? Okay. So what, for example, you can say, well, sitting in sales calls is one that brings me money because then you are selling or consulting or what are the roles currently in your business that bring you the most money okay what what were those roles and and and think about that and everything else that is not the money making one okay for example sitting down you know
Starting point is 00:09:39 emailing people or coming out with a content idea or posting on Instagram or whatever activity that you're doing right now that is not bringing you the most money is the one that you should delegate or eliminate or find someone that can do it for you well that's delegate basically but you you see what I'm saying okay so what are the three activities that um that I need to do that bringing me actually money and I need to focus on that okay because when I sit down and do a $500 consultation with a clientele that's my where my time is optimized the most right and if I was to do something else like I would start you know emailing or I will start doing things that are not in the money making skill, then I would be essentially not doing, not working in the most optimized manner.
Starting point is 00:10:35 OK, so what are the three things in your business that make you money? And think of those things as actually making you money and everything else is not making you money you need to get that out of your plate and delegate it to someone that can help you make more money okay because um essentially that's where you are leaking energy you only have so much energy per day that you that you wake up and you have it and then you use energy like chips you know interactivities that don't matter to you that essentially then it's it's when it's just not going to work out for you in my business um i do the podcasting that brings me clientele i do consultation that you know makes me money and i do sales calls that makes me money of course showing up for my clients being there for them is where i'm making my money with you know fulfilling that is what makes it making me money but essentially if
Starting point is 00:11:31 i was to think about you know post for example or anything else that is currently not bringing me money then i would be thinking okay when i need to get someone who can do those things for me so that it's done. I know it's important, but that's just not where my talent of making money lies. OK, so a lot of the times I see entrepreneurs struggling with this because obviously when you start out at the beginning, you are doing everything by yourself and that's completely fine. And that's that's what, what you know being a crafty entrepreneur means but for example if you look at business owners that do come from experience and they do have you know that um they they actually very clear on that they are the visionary okay and they have the resources to stay that in that, they actually think differently. They think,
Starting point is 00:12:26 okay, I need to find a person for this one. I need to find a person for that one. I need to have someone to run my ads. Wink, wink. I'm just hinting here, but I need to have someone for that. That is better than I am. That is better than it's going to be done for me. I need to find someone who is good at copywriting or whatever roles that I have in my me. I need to find someone who is good at, you know, copywriting or whatever roles that I have in my business. I need to find a person, video editing or, you know, whatever they are good at. And I need to find a person to give it to them. I'm working on my book right now and it's under editing, right? I'm not expecting myself to edit my book because sitting down and writing it was
Starting point is 00:13:07 enough for me I enjoy that and genuinely enjoy that I the reason why I did it is because I enjoy writing genuinely but I also know that when I'm done writing something I I can't look at it anymore okay I had it's really hard for me to go back and reread and reread and when trying to make, because I brain dumped everything in flow, like I literally in a couple of hours, I sat down and I brain dumped everything, whatever state I was in. And it's so, it was so hard for me always to go back and check and spell check and grammar check. That is always really hard for me.
Starting point is 00:13:44 So I have an editor who handles that for me okay so seeing where you can find people and especially again if you have those resources you already first of all you understand where your strengths are lying and that's the biggest difference by the way between the top one percent and like an average business owner is that the top one percent sees that they're not even going to double learning how to you know edit copy or whatever skills or you know do the ads or do the um whatever marketing strategy that they have because they already like okay i need to find the person for this one and that one. And they don't even go into that role. It's so funny.
Starting point is 00:14:26 And because they optimize their times, and I met with those entrepreneurs that are genuinely so busy, they cannot even think about the marketing side. They need someone who comes in and gives them those ideas and executes them for them, right? That's where you are smart because then I'm not even going to
Starting point is 00:14:46 double with that, because my skills are, here I am, I'm the owner, I'm the visionary, my skills are stopping at opening new businesses, or finding partnerships, or negotiating deals, right? That's where I'm putting myself and all my efforts, and I'm not going to think about the payrolls, I'm not going to think about efforts. And I'm not going to think about the payrolls. I'm not going to think about marketing ideas. I'm not going to think about contact. It will be insane for that business owner to think about all of this because it just doesn't make sense for him to try to figure out everything by himself. So I'm giving you this concrete example because I see that.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And I love that someone can put themselves very clearly like this is where i belong cool and then what that means is that this is where i'm the best and this is where i'm most you know efficient in my business is to stay in this role okay and then by staying this role it also means that i need to find people that are good at those things that i want to delegate and then delegate to them and then make sure that I know, measure it, make sure it works, you know, check with them once in a month or once in a week, whatever frequency I want to check with them to see everything is going okay. And that's why, that's how you can put yourself in the right, correct position in your business. OK, so I do see that craft entrepreneurs. That's why they're so tired because they're doing everything by themselves.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And that's why, you know, you start out probably you do everything. You do the post, you do social media, you learn how to do ads, you do. It's insane. You learn all those skills and doesn't mean you can't learn you can learn every skill in the book you know it just because you're a visionary doesn't mean you cannot get yourself to learn how to read a balance sheet right so you can find those skills of course you can wear those different hats i think the most important is is that how can i see that there are people they are better than i am in the specific
Starting point is 00:16:47 thing that i think is important for my business and how can i find those people and and put them to the right correct role so that i can remain in my seat without exhausting myself completely okay so this is not related to facebook ads i know that much except that if this is something that you think that you are trying to do for your business it doesn't work um and you need help with that and you can of course contact me i'm always going to say that at the end of every video that i do that of course come contact me and we can check what's happening in your business what's the best way to go about it and how can we help you grow that and automate those you know lead generation processes if this is something that
Starting point is 00:17:30 you're ready to be looking at okay um so thank you so much for watching um today is my birthday so i'm gonna go out and have a lot of lunches and dinners with friends um so thank you so much for being here and i'll see you tomorrow. Bye. Thank you.
