I literally opened up the door and to naked people were standing there in the bathroom.
And we're like, sorry.
I'm just showing your house.
What's up everyone?
Welcome to another episode of on display with Melissa Gorga. I hope everyone had an amazing father's day. I want to get into my guest today that I'm actually super super super excited about.
You guys have seen her on shows like Dancing with the Stars and Kendra on top.
She's the hilarious girl next door and you can see her on the second season of
her latest show Kendra sells Hollywood ladies and gentlemen Miss Kendra Wilkinson. Hi. Thank you for having me.
Of course. Thank you for being here. I feel like I've been what have you and I ever met in person before?
Probably. I mean, I think, you know, it's a small world at what we do. So I'm sure we have. Right. I feel like maybe moons ago, years ago at like an okay
mag party or something like an okay. Remember they used to do
those parties that they would almost.
Yeah.
Those were the fun. Those were the fun days.
I agree. I'm like, they don't, nobody does any of these like parties
like this anymore, right? Like we used to all get together.
And I think we were all a lot younger too.
So we thought it was so cool to like,
all together and do the red carpet.
Like now I'm like, we don't do anything anymore.
I'm like, the knife.
It feels less like like celebrating something anymore.
We're like, wait, okay, what's going on?
You know, you have to kind of throw a house party now
and you're not invited to any cool events.
I know.
I'm like, I realize that too.
And I feel bad even for my show for like the new housewives.
They're like, where's all the fun events?
And like, when do I get to see how it is to be famous?
I'm like, there's really none of that anymore.
Yeah, thanks to social media,
you know, social media completely killed
off all the fun.
It really did.
It really did.
You're so funny.
I love your giggle.
I remember your giggle for years and years.
Obviously you evolved so much from the girl's next store,
but I personally fell in love with you on that show.
I just thought you were the sweetest, nicest.
I loved your mother. I love your grandmother. I just thought you were the sweetest, nicest. I loved your mother. I love your grandmother.
I just really did.
I fell in love with you.
I thought you were great.
And you know who else loves you so much?
My mother.
My mother Donna.
Donna Marco loves Kendra.
She.
I love.
I hope to meet her.
Yes.
She has always loved you so much.
She just used to laugh at you all the time.
And we just thought you were.
It was.
It was.
It was a lot of fun.
You know, I don't, it was a wild time back in my 18, 19, 20, 21, you know,
oh, I mean, you didn't have fun at that time.
I mean, uh, the days of self-wildness.
Of course.
And it's difficult too.
I mean, being, could you imagine, like,
I got on TV at 31, but being on TV at 19, 2020, oh my God, I have to give you credit for that
because there's no one who wants their life recorded at that age. Like, you're not, that's
when you're supposed to do everything under the radar. And that's funny that you say that
Melissa because it was, I did not enter or I did not
sign up to go the mansion when there were cameras even on.
So like the show was not even a factor or even something even going on.
And at the time I chose to live there.
So it was under the radar to some degree. So when the show just all of a sudden came into the mansion
with the camera on and surprised me in my bed
with light.
Wow.
I was like, what the fuck?
That's kind of how it started.
So it was under the radar until it wasn't.
It's what it sounds like. So you never actually like signed up to be on a reality show.
It they just started filming it. And then they were like, Oh, so now you're you're going to be
on this reality show. Eventually, we, you know, I could have left at the mansion. I could have said
no, but I'm like, Okay, I guess we're gonna film a show.
Yeah, I mean, listen, not for nothing,
but why wouldn't you?
You're a 19 year old girl living in the playboy man.
Who's gonna say no to that?
I think everyone under the sun would have been like,
all right, let's see what happens.
Especially I didn't grow up with money in my hand
and all that stuff, so it's not like I was parasolting
born from the Hilton's, you know?
Right. Money was money and fun was
fun and show was a show. So I don't
think I know anybody that would
turn any of that. I mean, I agree,
but we have to say whatever you did,
you still made America love you.
Everyone does truly love you. And
you had something so relatable about you.
And I think that's why you've gotten so many shows after that. I mean, you've done a lot of things
since then. And listen, I know what it's like to be caught up in that hole. Obviously, I'm on housewives,
right? So I know what it's like to have that feeling of like you get stuck in this bubble where everyone just
wants to say like, well, she's a housewife. She must be drama. She must be crazy. She must be
this. Must be that. And you kind of get caught up and painted in a certain light. And then you become
an adult and get a little older. And I've been on reality TV now for 13 years. I know you've
get a little older and I've been on reality TV now for 13 years. I know you've, yeah, right?
Have been just as long.
So it's like you start to age and get older and turn into a business woman
and learn to do different things and have children.
And and it's like you want people to stop seeing the first thing they saw and
realize that you're in the last decade.
Right. Melissa.
And I know a lot of, I, I'm friends with a lot of celebrities that go through this, you
know, and a lot of child stars, obviously, you see them going
through stuff, they they they were characterized as one person
forever. And it's like not fair. So I try to like, you know,
it's it's not real, you know, because we grow, we evolve as
humans. Right. So like, of course, people are
going to know us from where they first fell in love with us, and that's fair. But what's
also fair is to evolve with us through time and to understand that what happened at 18
is not what's happening at 38. And exactly, you know, and it's funny because a lot of people just don't get it
They think they see a photo on Instagram of like back when I was at a party when I was 19 and they're like
Oh, man, you're crazy and I'm like I'm like at home doing laundry now
You're like I got the laundry going. Tell it to me.
You got on in the bag.
What what show was on before for your kids?
Like I'm like trying to sell a house right now.
Like I don't know where you're my where your time frame is and your head.
But things.
Well, that's the thing.
That's the thing about this reality TV thing.
It's like once they see you in one light, it's very hard to change their opinion and to, you know, even for other housewives who want to break free and do acting or this or that it's like, no, you're a housewife and your drama and this is what you are and it's been. to be able to kind of break the mold on that a little bit because I've ran out of so many businesses
and having envy and just.
That's great.
But it's not just like people,
it's not just the fan base,
which they have every right to go through whatever
they're going through and then journey and what they see it.
But like, it's also the life experience,
the natural life experience we live.
So like for instance, I'm a single mom,
you know, and I don't date because here's why there's a lot of problems when it comes to, you know,
finding a man or whatever because men think playboy, they think I'm a certain type. They think they're, I have
I'm a certain type. They think they're I have these massive boobs, so I have to like be a certain thing.
And so I'm a fun person. I'm a free spirit, but I'm not going to be caught up in someone's idea of what I am when I'm not even close to that. I'm just like a basic tomboy real estate
like a basic tomboy, real estate,
agent mom, you know? And so when, like I turned down,
like a really gorgeous hot man asked me to go out Sunday
and I'm like, no, really rich guy.
And I was like, no, because I don't think
that you are really in it for me.
I think you have this idea.
And I don't like that feeling already
and I don't think that's fun for me to live in that idea.
So I'm pushing dating aside
for until I feel better about it all.
You know, so it's really important just to really focus
on my kids, focus on my business, focus and not allow the
noise to distract me and men because, you know, and I think, but I think men, it's really
just going to be a difficult process for me to find love again.
I totally get that.
I totally get it.
And I see that it could be rough, right?
I mean, it's, listen, if you're, you're probably good at fishing this out Who's legit looking for a normal date
that they just wanna go and meet somebody?
And who's looking for Kendra from the Playboy Mansion?
For sure, 100% right.
And some people are still out for clout.
Some people are out, you know, it's crazy.
So I'd stay more alone.
And that's why a lot of celebrities do stay. I
stay alone a lot because it's really just difficult to navigate sometimes for even friendships.
You know, men, it's just hard. You know, it's hard. There's a hard part about doing what
we do. There's a good part and there's a hard part. So, you know, but the most important thing
are the kids, so, and all age steamy ass is mom.
So, that's the most important identity I have today.
And all I do is for them and make sure
that they're taking care of the rest is just like, you know.
Well, I respect that and I love that.
And that's everything you should be doing, right? I well, I respect that. And I love that. And that's that's everything
you should be doing, right? I mean, obviously they come first.

I think you and Hank do a great job co-parenting together.
Yes, thank you.
That's going really well for you guys.
Yeah, it we really well for you guys? Yeah, it's really good. So we, you know, we were, we had a great marriage and we, you know, we were really good. There were a couple bumps in the road.
But the public made it a little bit worse. It was, we had a great marriage. But now we are great co-parents. You know, of course, nobody really
sides up for a marriage to get divorced.
So, and that wasn't really the part of my depression.
I went through for like four to five years.
Divorce was just triggered my depression.
So, I went through a divorce, lost everything I knew,
which was my TV show.
I had TV show every year until
my divorce. And then my divorce happened. And all of a sudden, now I'm left with no marriage.
I'm left with no show. I had to move into a little how. I didn't understand what was going on.
And all of a sudden, I had to do some intense healing for years. I didn't have fame, I didn't have everything I knew
for a really long time.
I don't know who I was.
I was like so lost.
And I had to do some serious healing,
like to the point where I had to like,
woof, and that's how I chose real estate was
because I had to figure it out and put faith in something,
again, put faith in life.
And I chose real estate not even knowing a camera would even
turn on again.
And so when it did, it was just, wow,
it's a god was giving my life back to me.
It was crazy.
And I'm just so grateful to have this opportunity.
You know, I want to talk all about the real estate Kendra as well, because I find it so intriguing
that you went over to real estate and the show. And I want to get into all of that with you in
a couple minutes. But did you find that that time when you were not on the show
and you, you know, everything was going on,
you were moving and it was, you know, you were,
your marriage was falling apart at that point.
Was it better at that point that you didn't have the cameras
in front of you to kind of be able to cry it out
and sort through your feelings
and not actually have to put that section
of your life on TV?
Well, it's funny because it was such a hard place to be.
And I, it's like, I like doing the creative side of the show.
And I do a lot of it.
So like the end of Kendra's Hell's Hollywood with the lady,
like was was a lot of my, you know, I do a lot of the producing
myself because it is, it's like writing a memoir for me. I don't know how the housewives work,
but it's like trusting a ghost writer to write your memoir for for my show.
I wish I could produce the housewives. I want to produce. So I love that. They allow you to kind of
be in there. It's a show. It's, you know, it's a show about my journey really. So I, you know,
it's about trusting the producer and working with them, but it's, but I, but, you know, I do have to
go through the real process of a real journey at the same time. So I don't allow, you know, I do have to go through the real process of a real journey at the same time.
So I don't allow, you know, I'm not going to be God and be like, I need everything to be about me.
It's I'm going to go through the true experience of what it's like to be a starting real estate agent.
And so I'm not going to be handed anything. I told everybody, don't even, don't hand me a thing.
Don't make me look like I'm winning all the time.
Please, let's really go through this for real
because it's really important to go through it
and not just for myself,
but for the people who I inspire.
So it's not, you can't just be, you know,
all of a sudden, in a Gucci dress,
I'm a single frickin' mom, paying my rent.
I'm not gonna be in some Gucci dress right now,
like acting like I'm selling frickin' $70 million
properties overnight, like I'm not gonna be doing that.
I'm going through a real journey.
I'm actually going to a $70 million listing tonight.
Wow, oh my God, I hope you're getting. It's not my listing yet. I'm going for it.
All right. Well, I'm going to cross my fingers for you. So it really sounds like you found
happiness and you've healed a lot through your journey. And now your journey has landed in the
luxury real estate industry, right? So tell me about Kendra's sales Hollywood. And you know,
let me know what's going on over here. I'm dying to hear about it all.
So Kendra sells Hollywood.
It really started
after I passed my real estate test. So I, it was such a crazy whirlwind of a time.
I went from It was such a crazy whirlwind of a time.
I went from, like we just went through, like the story of it.
I went to the divorce, lost everything all at once.
My two dogs, I lost everything.
I found myself alone, literally alone
for four to five years and had nothing.
Like I had to really figure it out
because I literally lost everything.
And you know, when fame goes away,
like a lot goes away.
I know.
I've talked to housewives that have just been,
you know, that were no longer on the show.
They were let go by Bravo and they tell me that
they got, they had to mute every housewife on Instagram.
They couldn't look at it anymore.
They didn't want to see anything that I had to do with TV or Bravo or yeah, it's a very I know Tamer judge told me for instance, she struggled
more than she thought she would and she couldn't believe how bad it was affecting her and she spent so
many years on reality television that when it got taken away from her, she really, really went
through a really hard time.
So it is a normal thing to feel stressed out.
It is your whole life.
It changes friendships.
It completely changes everything you once knew.
And so we've been doing it for so long
that all of a sudden, friendships started,
everything just started changing.
Because changing, all at once.
So every minute felt like a gut wrenching pain that I was experiencing for four to five
years.
And I didn't know what to do.
I was like, what is happening to my life?
Like, how do I get this?
How do I, how do I break out of this and and and find a new life?
Happiness. All while being a mother. Don't forget. You still have kids. I wasn't really,
it was impossible to be happy at that point. I didn't even know how to be happy.
Oh, my kids were what were my kids gave me the purpose to stay alive, to keep going,
to drive them to hockey and basketball and smile
and watch them do everything.
School, they're the ones who kept my heart beating, right?
But like when it came, I was just like,
a zombie not knowing what I was gonna do for a living.
I have nobody paying my bills, never, never have.
I've never, well, half
of like, you know, like back when I was 19, but like, it's like, it was so hard. So four
years, five years afterwards, I'm like, okay, I did a lot of healing. I did a lot of, I
did a lot of healing from playboy. I'm like, okay, who am I? Who is this chick? I don't even know who this person is.

So then I I chose real estate. You know, there were so many things I was going to do,
but I thought real estate because not because I need show or anything like that. I didn't even know
it. Watch TV at the time. I just one day rolled into like a real estate office and I was like,
Hey, can you guys, are you guys looking to hire someone like me and they in the receptionist like Kendra. I'm a huge fan.
And I'm like, thanks. She goes, do you ever real estate license? I go, what's that?
Oh my god. I don't even know what that was. And she's like, um, you're going to have to take a test.
And I go, I went into a bigger depression. Oh my god. Was it hard? Was it test really hard?
I was so scared. I was like, I've never taken a test in my life.
I didn't even know what, what, what, I was like, that was so scary.
So I just, I just did it because it was COVID.
I was like, okay, come on, you can do this.
I literally read re-huge books. So I literally read huge books.
And I had the time because it was COVID,
it was like we were just blessing
and disguise during COVID, right?
So I really had the time to sit there and read everything.
And then I just passed the test on the first try,
which was extremely difficult.
And I just screamed the whole place, heard me scream,
the security guard came out,
like you need to be quiet.
All these people are in there still taking the test.
I'm like, oh my God, I'm gonna go to the real estate test.
And so next thing now, I posted it on Instagram
and it went viral.
I went from San Diego from taking the test. I
drove up to Orange County Newport and within within 30 minutes, I had people in
this whole restaurant going, you passed the test. I'm like, oh my God, I guess
everyone knows no. So that's good. Oh my God. See, that's awesome. That's you
change. That's like you, you know, pulling up your, pulling up, put on your
big girl panties, right? Saying like, I'm gonna make a change.
I'm gonna take this test.
I'm gonna start moving in a positive direction.
Like that's awesome that you did that.
I've never known, like, look, TV does one thing.
All these accomplishments in the fame world.
But when I passed, I've never passed a real test before.
It was so big to my life.
More, it was something I've never really experienced. I actually did
something for myself. I did something to learn something new and it was so awesome.
It was a high I've never known before and so one thing led to another and
next thing you know I'm back on TV and the process started, I was, you know, I was me and a producer we started talking.
We're like, what are we going to, you know, do?
I'm like, what else are we going to do?
Well, I'm not going to stay here and fake this.
Like, how can you fake this?
Like, I'm a new agent.
Like, I'm not going to pretend I'm some celebrity from the playboy mansion selling a freaking,
you know, wearing a good, like, like I gotta stay real, dude, because this is the only way I'm gonna answer questions
and like really. Right, and your first one of your first episodes, you do talk about how it's
like your first listing, rather. And you say at the appointment how you're very scared and you're
very nervous and you're being very open and honest about your fear
of like jumping into the world of real estate and you're being like
raw with it all. Oh girl, we only see, as you know, we only see a snippet of what really is going on. So like what's going on besides the show, outside of the show, the ship that people,
the show, outside of the show, the ship that people say to me, all, I mean, it's every day, I experience something horrible almost every day in this world.
People say the worst things. I mean, it's not even with the camera on.
So what you're experiencing is a real journey that I have to experience to
get to where I want to go.
It's a phase of the process.
And you have to remind yourself of it.
Like this is just a part of it.
This is just year three, you know, because I started my year one on a camera, now we're
at year three. So it's a process. And I
am starting from scratch when it comes to learning something new. And you're just on
the journey with me. And I'm happy to share it. I'm happy to share it with the world.
But there is a fourth wall that that that me and you both know, there's a fourth wall that me and you both know there's a fourth wall that the audience
is not seeing.
It's not the show that there's no, it's about, it's what people are saying beyond, what
people are, how people are making you feel the experience of like being like, you know,
someone trying to poach my work or something like that.
Judge, just judge whatever you're doing.
Judge, I'm being judged every minute I walk out that door, you know, so it's really just,
and people aren't seeing, people aren't seeing half of what I'm experiencing,
but it's my job to share, it's my creative, my creative way of sharing.
I want to be able to share the true experience,
you know, and not how I did it.
Of course, listen, I think it's so important
to show celebrities being real and being nervous
and showing real feelings opposed to sugar coating
everything, walking in there like,
you know exactly what you're doing.
You're being wrong, you're being honest, you're like,
look, I've lost everything, including my marriage, my whatever, you know, my home.
I am literally a woman, a mother starting from the ground up, starting fresh. I have, you
know, a background of this that everybody knows me for, but I'm really so much more. So let me
like step in here right now and learn
the process and kind of show people. And there's so many moms that I'm sure you're inspiring
out there that, you know, are going through very similar situations where their lives are
starting over or could be divorces or they lost a job or whatever it may be. You're showing
them like, look, me too. It's not easy. it's scary and I'm nervous. And I think that's
so it's so open and awesome of you like relatable.
Yeah. And it's uncomfortable. It's on. I understand there's a lot of, there's so many different
reactions to my show. Like a lot of people are uncomfortable. They're saying, what the hell
she's it. It's not, you know, our isn't meant to be understood all the time you know our that's what we do is a form of art
and it's not meant to be you know always perfectly paved for the audience. It's
meant for you to feel something and to experience something with us and so
that's our that's what we do And it's harder than it looks.
And it's really important for me to share the journey
and stay positive.
And I believe in myself.
And I believe that we all go through these phases
and even after the season of the show, I kind of, these last few days,
I've been kind, I've been feeling like I'm entering a whole new phase. So I feel like I'm not
crying as much. I feel like I'm stronger than I was yesterday. I feel like I'm today for some reason I was led to go and meet with someone who's
potentially gonna he could they could use me to sell an 80 million dollar house
you know and wow it takes it for you to believe in yourself involving a lot of
self-awareness and never allowing what others think of you to push you back down into a
hole, you got to use it as power.
And so, like, you know, we all go through these phases and it's, and that's just my choice
to share the authentic journey of it, you know.
Right.
And listen, a lot of women can relate to the pressure they put on themselves to make others
happy and show that they're good at something and show what they can do. listen, a lot of women can relate to the pressure they put on themselves to make others happy
and show that they're good at something and show what they can do. But it's a lot of pressure
and the fact that you're showing that is awesome.

But let me ask you about some of the funny things or paid membership starting at 12.99 a month, terms apply.
But let me ask you about some of the funny things that go on now that you're a real estate agent.
I mean, I know I had Mauricio on my show.
I asked him this question.
I asked like, so what's the craziest thing?
Like if you were looking for a house, right?
From one of your clients,
is there something they demanded had to be in the house
that they were looking for and vice versa?
Was there any house you were selling that had had something so crazy in it that it was like weird that they had that in their home?
I was just on a I was just on a couple month journey with some clients right now. And we finally closed on a house. And we were in and out
of so many different homes. You know, smart by their very, they know what they want, they know what
they don't want. You know, is it harder to land the client or to land the sale? What do you feel like is harder?
Oh, it's harder to land a client for sure.
It's harder to land a client because clients,
you know, most people already know like five agents.
So you have to, you kind of have to figure out the formula.
How to get someone to use you.
How to get them to trust you.
How to get them to want to go on a journey with you
to, you know, and trust you to find their house, you know. So sometimes like, we'll start the
process and they'll freak out and they'll be like, I'll never hear from them again. You're like, what did I do? What happened? Yeah, so it's going to be, it's harder to land a client for sure.
I mean, if I, how many people are in my life
are the billionaire right now?
I was just going to say, like, people have to just trust you
from knowing that you're a good human.
That must help a little bit, or do you think it works against you,
the fact that people know
you from TV. It's working. It started off working against me. Most again, most people think
men were taken advantage of me in the first year. They were like, oh, and I allowed it because
not not not in the second, but they were like, oh, come out and meet with me at, you know, for dinner and we'll talk business.
So then I would go out and I like, and next thing you know, they're calling it a date, hey,
can we see each other again? I'm like, I thought this was business, right? I'm like,
we were like, let's talk about what house you're looking for. And it was, it's so brutal because
that's another side of the business that women
have to experience. And there's not a lot. And this, this is a side that needs to be
sorry, we need protection in this business, man, because, you know, there's a lot of weird
stuff that happens. I believe that. And you're going to empty houses, meeting random people
that you don't know that they that's it can be scary I
think about that too like real estate they lore they can man I've been lore I
tried people have tried to lure me and and next you know I'm the last straw I had
was I went on this listing appointment and next you know we're walking through
this like creepy vineyard and I'm like, you know what? This is getting weird. This is getting really creepy and I think so I'm gonna, you know,
I'm gonna, that's one other part of the business.
Yeah, I get it. There's, listen, there's goods and bads to everything.
And the fact that you get to show all of that on TV or as much as you can on this new show,
I think is awesome because
why not? We've watched you for so long and to see this part of your journey too, I feel
like it's so funny. I thought it's something funny and I don't, I thought it's something
funny that happened, but I don't know if I'm allowed to say it, but I'll say it anyways.
Okay, just go for it. That's what we do over here. So we were kind of showing, okay, so I'm not going to name
names or tell you where we were or whatever because it's kind of risky to even tell the story.
But so we're showing the house and it was a really big house, right? Huge mansion. And I was
showing the house and next thing you know, the owners, we didn't realize we're back at the time. They stuck in through the back.
And they, I was showing the property and I opened up the door to the bathroom and they were naked.
No, no, were they having sex?
Yeah, they're a few decades.
What were they doing? This is beating Mauricio's story. I could tell you that.
His was about sex too though. It was about like sex chambers in the house and stuff. How
do I hear that house? Oh, it's in LA somewhere. But wait, were these two having sex? What were they
doing? Oh, you know what? Someone did reach out to make some of a listing right now and someone did reach out and are like,
Hey, can we use your listing as a set as a sex club? I'm like, what the
What?
Like they would they look for people to rent it to them for these things. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, but though, but this was probably the funniest one
Well, it was crazy. I don't know if I was even allowed to say it, but I opened up the bathroom door to show the property.
And they weren't supposed to be there. And they were, and I thought it was a joke. I literally
opened up the door and two naked people were standing there in the bathroom. And then,
were you like, sorry. Yeah. I'm just showing your house.
Girl, I ran so fast, I abandoned my client.
Did they know that their house was being shown? Like they had to have no.
I think they thought we were done or something or they thought we were like in the kitchen or
Wow. I mean, speaking of LA being crazy. What like on the market right now,
what is the hottest LA neighborhood to live in?
Is there like a, like where,
where do people want to buy right now in LA?
Oh my God. Well, we,
we're following the JZ and beyond say big purchase, aren't we?
Like, right.
So, I mean, that was 200 million, right?
So right now, and what part of LA is that?
Where is that?
That's Malibu.
So that's Malibu.
Yeah, so that's Malibu and Kim just bought one for like 100 million.
Like, there's so much action going on in Malibu right now.
Really?
Everybody wants to be on the ocean.
Yeah, and then there's hidden hills.
And so, I just, my first house, like,
I've been really wanting to sell in Calabasses lately,
and I've been really working hard to do so.
And I just sold my first house in Calabasses.
Oh, King Grazzy really excited about that.
Thank you.
And that's awesome.
Of course, you know, the really,
the area, like Beverly Hills and stuff like that.
People are wanting to be in the suburbs in LA more now,
I think in the gated communities.
So that I'm the agent in Calabasses.
So do you hear this, my LA listeners?
Kendra is your agent.
You guys better all look her up if you are in Calabasses
because she is going to sell your home for you.
So I want every catcher.
This has been so much fun.

of moms out there that are just rooting for you.
