Starting point is 00:00:00 So my ex-husband was very good looking when he was younger. He still is now, but imagine like 30 years ago. So sometimes I'd be seeing him walking down the street and I go, wow, that's a good looking guy. Woo, that's my husband's looking. Oh my God, I freaking love it. What's up everyone? Welcome to another episode of on display. I hope everyone's having a great week this week. Okay guys, as someone who doesn't hold back on sharing their opinion, especially when it comes to my show, I thought why not pull on someone who is known for
Starting point is 00:00:42 sharing her opinion on the housewives. She's the OG of the real housewives of New York and she's a successful business woman and she hosts her new podcast with her daughter Avery. It's called Turtle Time. Ladies and gentlemen, I have Miss Ramona Singer today. Hi. Hey, I've missed you. We haven't seen each other in a while. I think since I ran into you in a month talk. Is that the last time I missed you. We haven't seen each other in a while. I think since I ran into you in a month talk.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yeah, is that the last time I saw you? Yes, that gurney, right? It's in person, yeah. I know. And then my girlfriend, we get a FaceTime call recently when you're at the benefit at the peer hotel, which is really one of my favorite hotels. Do you know that hotel is so beautiful? I think I would put it before the plaza even. I loved it. It's warm. It's intimate. It's the world. I renewed my vows there. You did. You did. In us. I don't know what it was. Six or something. Yeah. Or five.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Um, believe a boh. How is your relationship with your ex? Are you guys still close and friendly? Yeah. He um celebrated his 70th birthday. Can you believe it? He's 70. Meal. He looks like 55. I got to be honest. Both of you age, like you both age so well. So whatever you did, like coming up in your 30s and your 40s and your 50s, I don't know, but you guys really do age beautifully. Both he's such a handsome man also. He's so sweet. And so he invited me to his birthday party, but I couldn't go, but he did spend
Starting point is 00:02:03 Easter with me. My daughter and he and several of our other friends. I had like six people. to his birthday party, but I couldn't go. But he did spend Easter with me, my daughter, and he and several of our other friends. I had like six people. I made rack of lamb, herb, and crusted rack of lamb. I made a homemade lemon iced butt cake. Oh my gosh. I got the actual pan from Silatabla.
Starting point is 00:02:18 It was like a beautiful, it looked like, it was like, you didn't make that, did you? I go, oh, I did. It was really good. So yeah, one thing you guys might not know about Ramona, she's actually an excellent cook, right? Ramona, you cook a lot. Yeah, you can say Michelle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:34 I love cooking. I'm really good. Yeah, and that surprises me because you're such like, you know, you're such a New York social lay, well, you travel a lot, you're out a lot, you do your thing, but you're also like very family oriented. I remember you telling me one of my favorite stories you told me when we were on the ultimate girls trip is how you know you used to your daughter used to know or it was just known that Saturdays at like five o'clock, it was your special time to like go into the room with Mario and everybody knew that was like your time to be alone every Saturday.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Right. We had we've carved out some five times to get very quiet up with your family, your friends, sports, you know, whatever. Yeah, I always find it. I'm really a caregiver. I mean, I like taking care of people. I'm going to be one of the way you take care of people as you feed them, make them home cook meals. And I love doing it. you take care of people as you feed them, make them home cook meals. And I love doing that. Right. Is Mario with anyone else? Is he dating anyone else? Oh, he has a really nice girlfriend. She's lovely. She actually came for gender too. Oh, she did? Okay. Not in family. I love it. The best time I'm having right now is with Avery because you'll see as your daughter gets older,
Starting point is 00:03:37 which you know, your kids aren't getting older, but she's 28 and this doing this turtle time podcast with her and I together. It's a way for me to stay connected to her and connect with my fans because I'm traveling all the time. So I can do this remotely, no matter where I am. So I'm loving it. I'm really loving it. That's the best thing about it. And we're going to talk all about turtle time. I mean, let's like if you want to get into it a little bit, let's discuss how.
Starting point is 00:04:00 So you do have this new podcast. It's with you. And the top is number three, the first week out. Because listen, you are your great personality. You really are. I feel like when you say things, you mean it and you kind of, you, you're very unfiltered. And I think that's why people will love you. And they love you. And like daughter, she keeps me in line. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:04:21 Like she's like, so she like the boss. Is she the boss? Does she keep seeing line? Like she'll like, you know, yeah, she's in line boss is she the boss does she but she keeps me in line like she'll like you know Yeah, she's in line. That's what I can tell you she keeps you on par so it's like when you're discussing a conversation She said she wants to stick to the conversation and and if I go to all for I say something that's really not quite light mom come on. That's not really what you meant you're not saying it correctly go you're right you're right I stand corrected oh my god see I love that I love that so tell me about what is it what is it about what do you guys mainly talk about or discuss on your podcast um you know we're only we've only the second one is dropping on we're gonna drop on Wednesday so the second one
Starting point is 00:05:00 is gonna drop tomorrow on Wednesday okay because today's Tuesday. And basically we tie in Bravo to real life. I talk about behind the scenes, things that people don't really know that went on between Avery and I and the other cast members. Okay, remember, I say, you can't control how you're edited. I have to own what I do, but I get edited. I get a, they make, they don't show that, ever, never show that really business savvy side of mine. I mean, I was the first woman to go on Hs and I developed the wine I developed this in that and everything else and they never showed that They show me as a zany unfiltered party girl and when we're all girls trip
Starting point is 00:05:36 The room I picked I ended up with I picked but they edit it all out They made it look like I just took that room and I had the star the red star for they never showed that They showed me walking in with a red star, but they made it like I never played the game. So you mean on the first trip when you took the battle. Did you pick that room? I don't know. I feel like you ran in there soon as we got there. What I did was, of course, because my fans were saying, you know, well, they were saying better get the best room because you're known to. I didn't. I didn't. I didn't. I just you know, I think I should I've earned this room because I'm the eldest and the longest running housewife. And then of course
Starting point is 00:06:15 everyone said, no, we have to play a game. And we did play a game. And I picked that room. But then everyone got mad that I got a great room to go, we got to play the game over. I go, no way. I'm going to go right into the shower and they never showed that That out Originally you did take the best room because you were listening to your fan. I just walked into it. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Which whatever you you fought for your little Good TV come on. You give us good TV. That's what I will say to you. It was good. I know What to do? I'm scripted. I script myself? It was the first time that I ever were because you know, I've always been friendly with you. We've seen each other at events. You and I have always gotten
Starting point is 00:06:51 along. I will say that. I think you have the most loving, fun husband. I love his eyes. Have those eyes. I know. It's got great eyes, green eyes. He's got great, great eyes. But you've always been very loving and awesome with us. That was the first time I ever actually had to work with you on a work basis. And I really was like, I thought you were so funny. And I was thinking about it. I'm known as Louis and says, Ramona, you set the fires and run away. How about that fire I set between you and Teresa saying that she was set at the show.
Starting point is 00:07:24 And she looked at me and you guys had a big art, but I had no idea I was gonna start with. I was like, good God Ramona, that's like the question of the year is always about like the fact that I'm on the show, leave it to Ramona to bring it up. But it was actually good. We talked about it. We moved on from it within like 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:07:39 So again, I'll give you the good TV card with that. How are you two to, I mean, I mean, I should be asking this question now, but how are you two? Are you talking to each other now or not? I mean, this is like the million dollar question everyone wants to know, like I would know. I know.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I know. Listen, it's been rough, you know, we just films, we just filmed the reunion and it was rough. You know what I will say? I have been reading a lot of things saying that like, I wanna leave the show or I'm no longer gonna be on the show. I just want everyone to know I'm not leaving the show. I'm gonna bring it up and I wanted you to say it first.
Starting point is 00:08:13 I wanted to say it, I've learned to be more filter. Say it's very good. And yeah. All the more the thing would have said, oh, so I hear you're leaving the show. You don't wanna feel anything. I didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:08:23 I just said, oh, if you wanna discuss it, see you being better. Exactly. So I'm actually glad, I'm you're leaving the show. You don't want to fill in. I didn't say that. I just said, oh, if you want to discuss it, see you being better. Exactly. So I'm actually glad. I'm actually glad you asked me. And I want to put it out there that no, I have no intentions on leaving. I never run away when the going gets tough.
Starting point is 00:08:35 That's not my personality, right? I have a resilient. Right. And you know what? I we'd been our family has been through ups and downs. It's so for so many years on this show. and I have never left before, and I have no intentions on leaving now. So, you know, some of these fans out there, they, and I'm sure you've experienced this,
Starting point is 00:08:54 they get this idea in their head or they get, they grab onto something and they just run with it and run with it. And unfortunately, some people actually believe it, right? People believe that one thing we need to say, right? Ramona from both of us do not believe everything you read, like, like for real. That's the worst part. That's the worst part. I'd say the most negative thing about doing this show or doing the show was the press that was all made up stuff. They take, they take a little fact, exaggerate it, make up things. I mean, I would get calls from page six every week
Starting point is 00:09:27 and trying to confirm something. And I go, don't you have something better else to write than about? What? What's next? Am I that important to you? It's very frustrating. But I have a thing I think you can read.
Starting point is 00:09:36 I mean, I think it's very scary for, or it can be very detrimental to family relationships when you have family film. I mean, look, it's going up with you and your sister-in-law. And then you have, she has her brother on the show. And then look at Kyle and Kathy, and they're not even talking to each other because of the show. I mean, that's like sad. That's really to me, Sack, it's family to me, it's everything.
Starting point is 00:09:56 So of course, of course. And it's things that go on on and off the show, if I'm being honest. It's not all about the show. There's definitely like, and this is years and years and years. And you know, it's, it's difficult. It sure is difficult. But I agree with you that press is one of the hardest things, especially as a housewife, because for some reason, I guess housewives sell, right? So they want to just keep writing about us, writing about us. You know, I saw something, you're actually going to see this, this week, right, on the show we gift my daughter with her, she turned 17.
Starting point is 00:10:31 And we gift her on the show, Joe surprised her with her new car. I'm reading, okay, it's cute. It's a very sweet moment. She actually, she cries in it. It's adorable. She was very grateful. And I love to like see her that way. I'm reading like from the Hater accounts. Antonio's car repossessed. I'm like, what like the,
Starting point is 00:10:52 what are they saying? Like what do they like, Bermona? Some of it is so weird and like, at a loop, somebody said, you're like, one of my children is not mine. I'm like, or not Joe's rather. I don't know. Like some of that is so crazy. I don't know where that even comes from. It's so far. It's so far left. I mean, what's the craziest thing you think you ever read
Starting point is 00:11:13 about yourself in the press that you think was just so ridiculous? Do you remember something? I knew a lot. This is what would get me in trouble. I mean, that's why, you know, it's nice to take a step back from filming and doing it so much because men, you know, you're married. But when you're single, men don't like to be in the press or they don't want to see me
Starting point is 00:11:29 in the press and all that stuff. So I remember I was dating the sky exclusively and we was New Year's Eve and we went to this great restaurant. We had a few drinks and we were kissing and we were actually kissing on the bank passionately. And I was with all my friends. We took over the area, so whatever. And then it was written up two weeks later, Ramona spotted kissing a man. La la la la.
Starting point is 00:11:48 And they actually tell Tom about this story. And then he brought up, because no Ramona, there's an article about you kissing some guy. Like, who was that guy? Who were you kissing? I know, Tom, that was you. They put it in two weeks later. Oh my God. Another Tom I was dating.
Starting point is 00:12:05 We went to one of my favorite restaurants, Skarpata, and he sat there and then next week something was in the press Ramona is having dinner with some good looking guy or whatever. And he said, it was Tom. No, I said, I should have said it wasn't gone with it. Instead I said, oh, that was't you, that was someone else. And they's like, you know, I can't date you exclusively
Starting point is 00:12:29 because then my friends will read something in the papers that you're with someone else and how does that look? There's nothing worse than going to the doctor's appointment expecting to be the center of attention and then your doctor seems like they have better things to do and better places to be. Instead of listening to you intently,
Starting point is 00:12:47 asking you how you feel and helping you along, the doctor is checking the clock. On Zachdach, you'll find quality doctors who focus on you, listening to you, and prioritize your care. Starting point is 00:13:44 That's zoc doc.com slash Melissa, Zach doc.com slash Melissa. Yeah, because you're a single woman, right? Kind of. So that does interfere when you're dating and you're it does stress men out. Have you noticed that you're fam and just your character, right, that they portray you as on the show for so many years?
Starting point is 00:14:09 Did that affect men for you and for them to take you seriously and like when you're on a date with them? Was it hard for you to tell them, listen, I am a character on the show, but this is who I am in real life. Was that always difficult? It was the attention from the fans.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I'd be on a date and they'd want a picture. I know you're on a date, kind of a photo, and they interrupt me in the middle of the dinner. Just come after me, like really hard. And they were just like, they didn't like it. You want to clear that up. There's a lot of people that say that you're rough, right? So like that if they ask you for a picture,
Starting point is 00:14:40 a lot of times you don't love to take one. Is that maybe the reason? Because this, like, is not there. Just some the reason? Because this, I've been over this not there. I'm like, I'm just some people to say, Hey, I want a photo. I'm like, no, if they say hi,
Starting point is 00:14:50 Ramona is so great to see you. I've been watching you on TV. My mother watches you. I'm so excited to see you. And then I'll even say what you'd like a photo. It's all about the approach. You know, don't demand it.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Don't do me anything. I don't want a friend demands anything. If someone, you know, is appreciative and it has a warm demeanor and not just like giving a photo, right? That's a turn off. They have to come at you in the right way. It is about the approach. And it's part of us being on this show, you know, the fans and just people like love you and appreciate that. But, you know, but I'm really a private person. I'm very friendly and outgoing when you know me,
Starting point is 00:15:25 but I really never liked all the attention in the fame. I never did it for the fame in tension. A lot of housewives, they purposely go to places for the fame and the attention. Right. Rather be under the radar and live my life. I love doing, I love doing the show and it was great in a lot of ways more positive and negative, but I don't like the attention, the media attention, the press, and the people. I just don't. I see that about you. And I can vouch for you on that. I've been out with you many, many times. You're not the girl that wants to sit at the table where everyone's going to see
Starting point is 00:15:57 her. And you're very similar to me like that, where you'd rather be in the back of the room without the attention happening. And I will vouch for you on that. You don't like the extra attention at all. And that's the truth. I'm like, if I'm in a public event or a charity event, you know, that a lot of times, you know, we get invited for charities and that people are going on photos.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Yeah, of course I'll do that. I'll do it gladly because I'm already doing that. But if, you know, another thing, oh, gosh, thank God for selfies because remember, when I forgot, I don't know if people even did selfies years ago, they would make me do photos four times. I don't like that photo. Could do it again.
Starting point is 00:16:30 I don't like that. I don't like that photo. Can we do it again? And then like I'd be with my girlfriend, like, let's say, and you're talking at the wine festival. And the girlfriend's getting frustrated standing there. Yeah. And then, or I'd have 10 people coming over to me constantly.
Starting point is 00:16:44 And I'd say, you know, thank and I'd say you know, thank you But you know, thank you for your support But I'm having an intimate time with my girlfriend right now because then if you're my girlfriend Well, would you want to be with me? Everyone's like taking photos with me. This wasn't supposed to be a photo All you know saying no I know you know, and that's why I like doing this podcast because I have this way now of connecting with my fans they can write in questions and they get to see the whole me. I'm not edited.
Starting point is 00:17:08 I'm unedited. So you're unfiltered. You're completely unfiltered and we're getting the real Ramona. I am very excited about your podcast. Let me talk to you a little bit. Have they, have you been allowed to confirm? Is there a legacy happening? Are we doing the legacy?
Starting point is 00:17:23 I don't really know. I mean, Bravo's pretty smart. I mean, I personally, as everyone knows, didn't like the whole idea of the legacy as a whole series. But maybe just a small trip for legacy could be ideal. But, you know, I don't know really what Bravo has going on. And, you know, they're pretty smart. They know what they're doing. I mean, listen, they can good to me, good to you. So I guess they'll figure it out some way someday. And it might be some sort of like girls trip that I am down for. I would watch you guys all day just because you guys are monumental.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Like I just I would love to see you guys go on a girl's trip, especially having been on the first one with you. Um, just knowing, I think it would be so different. We were dancing. We did. We did. And we had a great, we had a great villa and a great spot. They sent us to people working there to help us. It was wonderful. The food was fabulous. Everything was great. Did you hear about the Brandy Caroline thing and like what are your thoughts on that? Did you hear that like on their girl's trip like something major happened there? Well, I just don't think anybody should touch anybody
Starting point is 00:18:25 in an appropriately period. You should put your hands up anymore. Unless you're in a hug around like that. But even then, you've got to know the person you're hugging. You know what I'm saying? And I don't know that friendly to begin with. So I just, I feel bad for Menzo, for Carolyn. I think, you know, because she's down to earth,
Starting point is 00:18:42 warm, giving person and for her to be in a situation that she didn't feel comfortable. And, you know, because she's down to earth, warm, giving person. And for her to be in a situation that she didn't feel comfortable. And, you know, everyone's perception is different, you know, brandy, many feels she did nothing wrong, because that's brandy. To Carolyn, she felt that she, you know, went too far with her action. So the bottom line is you have to respect someone's boundaries. That's the bottom line. So right. And we know, I know both of them very, very well. And I said this the day before they went, they could not be more opposite in personality wise, they could not be more opposite. So I could
Starting point is 00:19:13 foresee something like this happening where Brandi did not understand why anything was wrong, what she was doing in Caroline would take it totally like it was a horrific. Yeah. Very straight lace and very awesome. And she's a lot of fun though. A lot of people don't know that. And I think she liked her. I like her. And I think she wanted to show her fun side on this trip.
Starting point is 00:19:33 And so maybe she had a couple cocktails. I don't know the exacts. And you know, she probably there was a boundary cross that I think she just thought was like way too far. And she's fun loving. And she's very sexy and sensual. And she loves girls and men. And she just loves was like way too far. And she's fun loving and she's very sexy and sensual. And she loves girls and men. And she just loves to be brandy.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Brandy's brandy. But it was just like they didn't. I know. I knew I could tell you before they even went there, that's something like that was probably going to happen. OK, so you're not sure about the legacy. But would you do it if offered? Would you go and would you go?
Starting point is 00:20:04 I know I don't at this point want to do any long show because I have so many new things I'm doing and enjoying and you know I'm just so much more relaxed now and I think you know it's like when someone becomes president you see them come out four years later and they age well now that I'm not doing the show I've gotten a younger looking I'm fresher I'm happier I'm not doing the show, I've gotten a young girl looking, I'm fresher, I'm happier, I'm calmer. So, yeah. Do you feel, is it refreshing to no longer be on? I can maybe in the beginning, it's a little rough, right? Trying to adjust, but do you feel much happier now, not being on? You do. You know, all the girls we did, I mean, Kenya was pretty mean to me. I mean, she was going after me nonstop, and they didn't show it. They edited her. They edited her in a better way not to show how nasty she was to me.
Starting point is 00:20:48 That I also wanted to leave that trip and tell you the truth. That ultimate girl's to be scared. There was one point on the boat that you were very, very nervous. Where Kyle and I were kind of standing next to you and Kyle was holding you on that boat. I remember you feeling nervous. And then so that's what I'm saying. Like looking back, you're like, you know what? What actually do I miss, right?
Starting point is 00:21:06 It's one of those things where you had a long, you had a great long run and people know you, but something like this, the podcast is probably better for you where you're, it's unfiltered and you can speak your truth and speak your mind and people could fall in love with like the real Ramona and who you are. Oh, and I'm going on the road.
Starting point is 00:21:23 We're signed with live nations. So, Mother's Day week, I'm going to Austin, and I'm going to Dallas and Houston to appear. So we're going to be on the next week, next Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. That is awesome. I love it. With your podcast, you and Avery. No, no, no, this is a live show.
Starting point is 00:21:41 It's an entertainment show. It's a Me, Duranda, and LeWand. It's fabulous. We did in Chicago and Atlanta. We basically sold out. Avery was so impressed. Just mom, did you plan the script or anything? I go, no, we're just natural.
Starting point is 00:21:52 We're OGs. We know what we're doing here. We entertain the audience. We tons of fans screaming and going crazy. It was fabulous. I can honestly see that completely taking off. A lot of people, that's a great fun night out for the ladies and the girls.
Starting point is 00:22:04 Come have a cocktail, watch you, girls talk. I can see that that's so smart. They're going to be Quinn who's very bright from people magazine. He's the moderator. He's exactly what he's doing. And it's just it's a really good show. It's a great show. Do you love Dave Quinn? And for you guys that don't know Dave Quinn wrote that book, the big housewives book of like all house. Yes, the tell all. He is an amazing, amazing guy. I actually had him on my podcast. Love him so much.
Starting point is 00:22:30 So let me ask you, what do you know any of the New New York Girls? Do you know anything about the new show at all? I will say two of them came up to me. I was at Casa Tribriani, down in town. You went to Casa Triprioni. They're really beautiful places. They just, the decor in the side looks almost like a, a ship. It's gorgeous. So that I think her name, I don't know, you know, I'm going to pronounce anything
Starting point is 00:22:53 right. Uba, Uba, Uba. Yes, I've met Uba before. Fantastic. Gorgeous tall. Gorgeous girl. Gorgeous girl. I met her at the polo bar actually one night. I was in there and she came up to me and introduced herself. And I met two of them actually last night. I did something for for E with the Met Gala and they were both there. I met Erin and Jenna. So I don't know if you've ever met. I've never worked for crew, right? Correct. Jenna worked for crew.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Yeah. And then I also met you came over to me during a art puzzle. I can't think of her handle, but she's always dressed and she dresses gorgeous and she has she's very exotic looking. I don't know if she's Spanish or she's beautiful skin, beautiful features and just dresses fantastic. I can't think of her name. And she has a couple of children and I think she's a in the fashion. I don't think of her name. And she has a couple of children. And I think she's a, in the fashion. I don't know which one that one was.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I met Aaron Les. I think they're very nice girls. Both of them very, very sweet. Let me ask you, do you think Bravo's doing the right thing? Revamping, will you watch it? What do you feel? You know, I believe it or not. I don't really watch too many housewife shows
Starting point is 00:23:59 because I really don't have time. I'm really busy. I'm a very social echo out. I like to read books. And if I do watch TV, it's Netflix. It's Netflix a lot, right? Yeah, I just had. It was called something agent. So good. I was just curious. If you would want to see the new girls, or if it would annoy you, or like, what? I mean, you know, I, it's just a pleasant bravo. Knows what they're doing, but you know, I, of course, I started the show and we were all icons on the show
Starting point is 00:24:26 and then for them, just sweep us all to the side and then put them all on. I mean, it's like, hmm, but you know what? They know what they're doing and hopefully they'll do well and you know, listen, God bless, there's enough room out there for everybody. Well, that's nice. That's a nice, positive way to look at it.
Starting point is 00:24:40 I thought originally they were doing very like young, like 30, but I heard they're from 35 to 55. So I think anywhere in between, I originally thought they were doing all very young girls, but I don't think they actually are now. But that's good. Okay. So maybe a watch, maybe won't. I get it. Totally fine. Tell me what else is going on in your life. Do you still talk to Andy? Do you, are you still friendly with him? Or how does that go? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I think a lot of people always wonder that, like when, when, when someone's no longer on the show or something goes on, like if they're really... We have a great relationship. In fact, every, she launched her company, Batch Boss, which is a bespoke service of high-end Batch-loor and Batch-Wat parties. And she could make it.
Starting point is 00:25:24 So it's, you know what, Ramon, I'm gonna do something even better than becoming a person. I'm gonna have her on as a bartender with her partner, Jolene. They went on in six production companies, even your production company, approached them to do their own reality show.
Starting point is 00:25:37 To promote that. Is that right? Well, because you know, sort of like below the deck, you know, you just, what you do is you show different bachelor and bachelor parties, whether it be in Tom or Miami or wherever. Yeah, seven production companies want them to do a show. Well, listen, that I would watch that show because everyone knows that what goes down at like a bachelor or a bachelor at party is always just like a one night thing. Everybody kind of gets a little wild and crazy. I think that could be such an interesting concept.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I think even more than that, I think one is inspirational to girls in the 20s and 30s. It shows how Avery and Jolie started a service company on their own service companies. A great way to start a business because there's no big overhead. There's no variable costs. It's like a great thing and you're providing a service that's not out there. So it's not much competition. So it's very inspirational. Also, it's just very inspirational
Starting point is 00:26:29 because it's sort of like the lifestyles of Rich and Famous. You're seeing these really high-end, three-day, fabifications because everything now these young kids that has to be Instagram-able, they're in big parts. Remember when we got engaged, you know, Joe, just with you, prize it.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Now, they have videos, they put an Instagram that the big fireworks are going up in the sky. It's crazy. All crazy. So it's true. Even bachelor and like, we want to knew, I think I went to New York for my bachelor at party for the night with my girlfriends. And Joe went to Atlantic City.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Now it's like, we're going three days degrees. We're going five days to Italy. We're doing Miami. It's like, days to Greece. We're going five days to Italy. We're doing my amy. It's like, what is that? Where did you go? Because now when the bride to be arrived in the room, the women have to make sure it says the bride and balloons and the flowers. And then they go
Starting point is 00:27:16 by the pool. You got to make sure you have the right spot, cabana. And you have like 10 girls have to wear turquoise bathing suits on that. And the bride has to wear a white bathing suit. The theme green with envy. And there's the chefs and the boats and the yachts and the clubs and the bottle service. It's like it's a full-time job to arrange it so that's why she's doing it because she brings her bachelor party for girlfriend and she's
Starting point is 00:27:36 once like a full-time job. This could be a business. You know what? That's genius and you are right. And if she's the bachelor bachelor at Hardy Party headquarters and you are right. And if she's the bachelor, bachelor at hearty party headquarters and you call Avery and say, listen, this is what I want. Set it up for me and she's in charge. It's like a party plan. It's all great ideas. She can come up with all the ideas and everything. So it's fabulous. And she'll have connections and tell them where to go. On display with Melissa Gorga is brought to you by progressive insurance. Let's face it, sometimes multitasking can be like overwhelming to say the least.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Like when your favorite podcast is playing and the person next to you is talking and your car fan is blasting all while you're just trying to find the perfect parking spot. But then again, sometimes multitasking is easy, like quoting with progressive insurance. Press play on comparing auto rates quote at progressive.com to join the over 29 million drivers who trust progressive progressive casualty insurance company and affiliates comparison rates not available in all states or situations prices vary based on how you buy. Happy birthday to Avery today's Avery's birthday. And I always say, why are you so happy on Avery's birthday? And someone said to me, because you gave birth to her that day. Oh, yes, that was like the happiest day of my life. But like a birthday. So it went to birthday.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I'm like, thrilled. How old is she today? 28. 28. Awesome. Awesome. Is she dating anyone or is she single? No, she's, well, you know, she's dating, but she's, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:43 she's, first of all, all her friends are getting married. So she's going to go to provance for four days for a wedding. She's going to Paris for six days for a wedding. She just, like, go to the breakers in Palm Beach for a wedding. She just, she's going, just she's going all over. She's been going all over to showers and weddings and don't ask. She's, she's all over the place. Good for her. Lam, what will you guys do tonight? Are you in town? Are you in New York right now? Where are you?
Starting point is 00:30:09 I'm not to New York. I took her last night one-on-one for dinner at Scarpet. That's one of her favorite places in mind too, which I love. And they have downstairs the villa, which is so much fun with a lot of music. And tonight, she's having 15 girls to celebrate her birthday here at my apartment. Oh, cute.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I like that. So you travel a lot. Where do you go? You're from, you really just go from Florida to New York, right? You have to go to the beach. So like, then, you know, I'll travel. I'll make, I'll make my headquarters either New York Hamptons or Florida, but when I was in Florida, I traveled to St. Mars, I traveled to the Bahamas, I traveled to Aspen. Now that I'm here, I'll be traveling to the Hamptons, New York. I'll probably go to Niantucket. Maybe I'll go to Europe in August.
Starting point is 00:30:55 I'm not sure. Maybe. Traveling buddies, do you have people, your girlfriends, you have certain girlfriends, I just love to travel with you. We watch you, I follow you on Instagram, and I'm like, where's Ramona today? Like you look small though. Where's Ramona?
Starting point is 00:31:10 Where's Ramona? Like you live your best life. You look like you're my best life. You really are. We can't be mad at you for it. It's like, I love it. And this is what I worked hard for. I mean, I listen, I put myself through college.
Starting point is 00:31:21 I worked the whole time in high school. I'm self-made. My ex-husband, he didn't know I had what I had when I married him. I had seven figures in the bank, but both properties. When I got divorced, how many women keep two properties? The New York apartment and the, they home in the Hamptons. I know I have a third property in Florida.
Starting point is 00:31:37 So I try to open it, and you know what, it's time for me to sit back and enjoy my life and not work so hard. You really truly are like a successful successful self-made business woman. And I do think a lot of people might not know that about you. A lot of people might think you married into money, right? And that year, I had the money. I had the money.
Starting point is 00:31:57 I had the money. I had the money. I had all the money. I love it. No, but I, I know, I remember you telling me this when we were on the girls trip. And I was blown away. And you were telling about the different businesses before you even got married and how you used to invest right before you even got married and all these things. You were telling me you were
Starting point is 00:32:13 very open on that girls trip. You were telling me stories about your childhood, things that happen between you and your mother like you you have so much because you know a lot of women they get caught up with a marriage and they don't provide to themselves or even know where their investments are the money and then maybe for whatever reasons the man has a life crisis or the marriage doesn't work and they have nothing in the bank they have no career and they're left stranded. her husband maneuvered to get her out. He, they got to go to just $20 million townhouse. Because we have some problems. You've got to move out. You put her into a rental apartment, and then he filed for divorce, and then she had to stay in the rental apartment. And just don't ask.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I mean, you have to protect yourself, and know where the money is, and what's going on it all times. Well, that's what I was just going to ask you. What's your advice to women out there that they want to own their own business, and they have dreams of doing it? Do you have any advice for anyone out there that they want to own their own business and they have dreams of doing it. Do you have any advice for anyone out there that just push them forward a little bit?
Starting point is 00:33:10 Well, that's why we say service business is the best because the least capital. So let's say if you, people like to entertain at home a lot, like let's say you make great flower arrangements, a great, that's maybe your love, you can start doing it on the side and you just add, you make the flowers and you charge extra money, not as much as the floor, so you first cut it down, build your reputation. Maybe you're a great dessert maker. People always need great desserts when they entertain to bring to people, to have it their home, so do that, or maybe, you know, a surface business, whatever it may be, I don't know, it could be anything. Maybe like, okay, in the hand, we like our pots planted. So maybe you know how to do beautiful pots around the pool.
Starting point is 00:33:50 So you can charge for that. And you, you know, and you maintain the plants or maintain their gardens, whatever you like, a service business. Maybe you have great style. You're a girl, and it's like, well, where did you get that out? That where did you get that out?
Starting point is 00:34:01 But I want that. So you could be a stylist for your friends or for people. All right. And you grow from word of mouth. You find your passion, you know, find your passion. Maybe you are a great tennis player. You can get tennis lessons or maybe, or even, okay, another great business is tutors.
Starting point is 00:34:16 Everyone needs tutors. You know what, money these tutors make? In some areas, five in the bucks an hour. So set up a service with qualified tutors and you know the company people come and define tutors or do a service for housekeepers or service for grade housekeepers, right? Tutors are the thing right now. I can tell you just by having grade school children
Starting point is 00:34:36 and middle school, even my high school tutors are in like everybody wants a tutor. That's for sure. And I they can charge almost what a lawyer charges sometimes. I know 500 I think pay for Avery. When my girlfriend told me you're going to be spending $500, $600 for a tutor an hour, whatever, I thought she was crazy. I remember Avery went to Sacred Heart. I think Sacred Heart the time was like, I don't know, it was like 10 years ago. I think it was like $50,000 to go or $40,000.
Starting point is 00:35:02 That's my student tutors. So thank you, Bravo, for helping me make more money in my other businesses. So I spent, we spent $80,000 in call or 40,000. That's my student tutors. So thank you, Bravo, for helping me make for money and my other businesses. So I spent, we spent 80,000 that year for her. Crazy. Oh, it's crazy. I actually, we just, you know, in 20s, going to college in August, it's time for my daughter
Starting point is 00:35:15 to go to college. So we just did the whole college thing. And she just picked her college. She's going to announce it next week or two. But yeah, we just did this. And I couldn't believe I'm like, wow, college, I didn't know I'm a first time college mom, right? So.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Yeah, I just studied on my own, but now it's competition. Everyone gets a tutor to do score well on your ACTs and SATs, which you choose. So you have to, you know, if you would have a nurse is doing, it's terrible. Well, let me ask you this last piece of advice as a mom to a mom that you have a daughter that's 10 years older than mine, right?
Starting point is 00:35:48 So when she was 15, 16, 17, 18, was the relationship between the mother and daughter and like a little bit more difficult than it is now? It was strained. We've been fighting all the time, you know, all the time. And you know what that is? I'll tell you exactly why because they were so close to us They're so close to me. Love us so much. They out they have to show their independence, especially right before they go to college She's what a junior now. No, she's a senior. She's going to college. Yeah, she's gonna be a bitch. Yeah, she's gonna be the biggest bitch to you So you know what pick your battles
Starting point is 00:36:22 Just like and what I would do. I'd walk away from her. And then she knew she did something wrong. And she'd come running every mommy, mommy. Do you still love me? I go, yeah, Avery, I still love you, but right now, I don't like you. I don't like you. No, can I tell you, she is just so like strong and like anything I say, I feel like she wants to put a twist on it or she wants to change it or she wants to say it a different way. Or if I wanted to make a left, I need to tell her to make a right. Because then she's trying to find her independence from you because she's going out of the nest. And yes, she's like this so close, you're so close that now she has to physically break
Starting point is 00:37:00 away emotionally, emotionally, she has to break away from you. And the way she's doing is putting up a wall and fighting with you to get angry at you to make them be the barrier. So when she leaves, she's not going to be crying every night. Do you think that's what it is? Let me ask you this. Absolutely. It's what age did you notice when she got out of college or older? When did they like turn the corner? No, when she turned the corner, when she went to college,
Starting point is 00:37:23 because then she appreciates everything that we do for them. It was just before college. Then after, when she turned the corner, when she went to college, because then she appreciates everything that we do for them. It was just before college. Then after when she was in college, she was great. I mean, I was very fortunate. She called me every day. She said, my most kids don't even call their parents even once a week. You know how lucky you are. I call you every day. And we did because we were very close. But when she that last year, oh my gosh, I mean, even Mario had the referee. Don't speak to your mother like that. What's wrong with you? That's Joe. That's Joe every day. He's like, Oh my God, you guys.
Starting point is 00:37:49 What's happening? And I'm just like, I don't know Joe. She's so resilient right now. She's so like in her mode. I mean, she's the best kid. She's really is. She's a great kid. Well, that's a cool, you know, it's a psychological development that she needs to do. She has to say. Yeah. I'm like, wow, I did always want a strong-minded little girl, but damn, oh my goodness, like, is she strong-minded? And everyone tells me, girl, who are you? You're not the girl I raise. Where's my sweet loving?
Starting point is 00:38:14 You could do anything, Mom. I love you so much, girl. Instead, she's trying to hit you on the head all the time. I remind her of the text messages. She used to send me as a little girl, which was just like heart, heart, heart, flower, flower. I love you, Mommy, so much. You're the best Mommy in the world. Like, but where are those text messages she used to send me as a little girl, which was just like heart, heart, heart, flower, flower, flower. I love you, mommy, so much. You're the best mommy in the world.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Like, where are those text messages? Bring them back to me, please. But I do know that when she goes to college, I heard she's gonna miss me so much and she's gonna realize and she's gonna call me all the time. So I'm actually very excited about that. I'm actually very excited about that. Anyway, Ramona, I'm really so glad I got to talk to you today.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I was like, there's a lot of terms maybe when she's in college, she won't have time to talk or something. So just like, oh, can you send me, oh, you know, what are you doing? Oh, you're going to the winery or you're going to the library? Or I don't know, what have you done? Send me photos, send me a photo. So at least she's still full connect to me to the photos. Oh, that's a good, that's good.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Okay. I feel like she's going to be like that. I can tell already when she leaves the house, she's just gonna want me more and realize. And I can tell, when she thinks I'm upset with her, like what you just said before, she comes crawling back into the room like, mom, and she'll just try to have like a nice conversation
Starting point is 00:39:17 when she knows I'm annoyed with her. I feel like she talked fresh to me or something. Yeah, are you getting a nut in your stomach? Cause during the summer, the summer she was leaving, you know, which was like in June, July. I started having this nut in my stomach like a sick feeling. I didn't like it. So I took I did a yoga class. And it kind of calmed me and made the stress go away because I was really feeling like culture. Because I was aching then for her, for her leaving because we were so close. I do stress about it. I'm not going to lie. I get more than one child, so you're fortunate.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Yes, but she's my only daughter, but I do stress about it. And sometimes I have to sit back and say, wait, so next year, I'm going to wake up in the morning and Tony is not going to be here. She's not going to walk in the door at 3 o'clock. Like, she's not going to have dinner with us on Friday nights. Like, what's happening? I do sit back and it's crazy to me.
Starting point is 00:40:04 I never thought I would, first of all, I never thought I would get to this do sit back and it's crazy to me. I never thought I would, first of all, I never thought I would get to this age, right? That's going to start happening because it's like, I always had the little kids. I didn't think that was going to happen. Then I'm like, wow, she's like a force, she's a force in this house. She's a very, she's a Leo. So she comes in. She's very like strong-minded. I'm like, what is the house going to be? You, hello. I a year, come on. Yes, she really is. So, but thank you.
Starting point is 00:40:28 I love all your mother advice because you have one a little older than me. So, listen, I love talking to you today.
