Starting point is 00:00:00 If one of his boys, like, passed away and he was like, he'd be so mad, especially if he did something dumb and shit. Like, like, if you would have, like, fucked up even more on that when you had your accident and you were laying there, I'd be like, oh, fucking, why? Fucking, like, why punching you? Why? Why? I'm so scared. Slow down. Hey, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Give me a break. That Cape Cat bar? I was, yeah, but why? Why? I don't know. Welcome to episode number 33 of the Optic podcast. Your usual host The usual suspects
Starting point is 00:00:39 We go Nick Mania Cursner The Flycast squad over there With Hitch You get to hurt And my man bows to my left And me, I'm Hax, Optic Hacks Hector Raul Rodriguez Hernandez alias
Starting point is 00:00:51 El Erculano What did all that mean? That means LL Cool J in Spanish? Yes What's up? Can I ask you a question? Where do you get your shirts from? Like let's start there
Starting point is 00:01:01 Because you... Foot Locker. Really? I see the Nike That's a Nike? Yeah. Oh, yeah. That looks like Will Smith, whatever show he was on.
Starting point is 00:01:12 People always said I kind of look like Will Smith a little bit, especially like in his younger days. Like fresh prints. I can do that. I think you look like one of those paper cubs that you used to get water. Same thing. Tomato tomato. That wasn't tutunshun.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Is that a Fitbit? No. wristband rehab the only thing that's keeping me going what's it saying it says one day at a time
Starting point is 00:01:45 one day at a time shouldn't shoot you be a finally some motivation something to get boasts through the death you should get one month at a time now or one week at a time like you can't just be one day at a time like move up scale up
Starting point is 00:01:59 I mean I can see your point but you don't get it Get it. This is the everyday struggle. Yeah? I'm not laughing at whether or not. I'm laughing at the way you're answering. Anyway, gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Episode number 33, love to 33. I got to say this. That reminded me of the interview with DJ Envy and I forget who. He's like, so my father just died last week and envy like, p. I was like, what? What the fuck. He's like, you laughing, motherfucker? I swear to God.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Oh, that reminds me of, have you seen Theo, Theo Vaughn? His podcast? He had some Asian dude. Yeah. No, no, no. That wasn't Theo's. It was, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, it's Tiger Belly podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And he was like, so really fucked up story. As a child, I was molested, and they start going like, Oh. So I know the story. Are you just laughing? Yeah. They were just like, we just did not expect that. That was so random.
Starting point is 00:03:07 It wasn't the Yovonne is. It's Tiger Belly podcast. The Brian, something that works for UFC. He's always on Joe. What is it? Brandon Schwab. That guy, that podcast. Something in the kid.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Yeah. Fighter and the kid. They were interviewing the host of Tiger Belly. His name is Bobby Lee. He's fucking mess. It's like it's mega funny. And I know the story because I watched them. I just couldn't, my brain wasn't working this.
Starting point is 00:03:37 So Bobby Lee got molested by a person with mental ill, not illness, but. Oh, that's what that's what did. Down syndrome. I got molested by a guy with Down syndrome. Yeah. And they were just like, yeah. I don't want to laugh. But, but, uh, you said essentially the way that he coursed him was with candy.
Starting point is 00:03:57 And, uh, are, I'm, are y'all real bad about like laughing and. bad situation yes I'm the worst are you do you have like a certain person where you can't be around them whenever like my brother yeah dude I have I mean it depends with how bad this situation is the funeral there are some and it's yeah there are some situations where I've laughed and to this day I feel bad about it well there's some situations like what I kiss I'll tell you later really is that bad it's some pretty bad see I feel like there's people I can't be with in certain Like if me and formal were at a funeral. Oh no. Yeah, y'all too especially I'm looking over my shoulder like we're just by the casket like who me and madder just by the
Starting point is 00:04:44 cat and you kept looking back at your brother yeah no I just kept on looking back at formal and fucking maniac laugh we might have to cut this but whenever we move to Dallas and take a picture I might have to cut that I don't know Yeah cut that Is that too much? Or Matt Just mute that
Starting point is 00:05:11 Leave it on Just mute it And then just leave the laugh In there That's actually That See It's fucked
Starting point is 00:05:18 I don't know Like It's messed up for me Because Like I don't want People to be sad At my funeral I want people
Starting point is 00:05:27 To miss me But with a smile On your face Don't be fucking sad You know what I mean Like I don't want It's hard not to you're literally just laying there dead. Like if I died, I'd want Hitch to come up to my casket and just like.
Starting point is 00:05:42 Like my dead finger. Just. See you later. Like not take it too serious. Or I don't know, find some humor. Who would you like to give your, what do you call it? It's not an obituary. The speech?
Starting point is 00:05:58 What's it called? Yeah. What is it called? Chat? Testimonial? Testimonial? No, I don't think it's a testimony. Ullogy?
Starting point is 00:06:06 The eulogy. Yeah, testimony. It's like, he was a really good product. You might have to do my eulogy. Me? Fuck that. That one thing I cannot do is death. I will cry.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Especially I'm talking. And I don't cry. I'm not that dude. I don't know who else would do it. Huh? I don't know who else. Hitch, obviously. Hitch could do it.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I could do it. Yeah, I would cry too though Probably would have to be one of y'all I think that I would have to do it then Just so I don't cry I don't think I could do one No I just start trolling no I'm kidding
Starting point is 00:06:43 I wouldn't I would probably like I don't know You'll say how I do you probably drunk out of your fucking I would be probably I have for you You're drunk at the funeral Drunk up on the podium Talking to everybody He was
Starting point is 00:06:57 My brother what's He was just A great guy It was a great guy I'd probably have to. He'd beets team a yearwa. For my mom. It's like my brother once said
Starting point is 00:07:09 I think I remember this right. If one of his boys like passed away and he was like he'd be so mad especially if he did something dumb and shit Like if you would have like fucked up Even more on that when you had your accident And you were laying there, I'd be like Oh fucking why?
Starting point is 00:07:23 Fucking like why punching you? Why? I'm so stupid. Slow down. Hey yo. You watch Gilly and Wallo podcast at all? No. No.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Wallow did 20 years in prison, so Gilly always makes jokes about it. Yeah. And then he was like, one day, he was like calling Wallo, like the pool lifeguard, like jail. There's no pool, obviously. Like the showers. Like the shower. And he said someone passed out naked. And then when they ran in there, Wallow was like hugging the guy while he was naked, like, get out.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Get out. So I just got the run down. Yeah. So I just got the rundown about Vegas, McGregor, and Porreier. All right. I heard that Vegas was so packed to the brim that they didn't have no 25 minimum tables. All they had was hundred and up tables. $100,000?
Starting point is 00:08:16 No, $100 and up. So no, if you were there to gamble, huh? What do you mean? Like gambling. To gambling. Oh, I think you meant. So if you want to play a game of blackjack, you have to put a $100. $100 hands.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Minimum. That's crazy. And apparently there was a Garthbrook concert, and it took people an hour and a half to get there from anywhere in Las Vegas to the new Raiders Stadium. That apparently the way that you get there is like a weird fucking path, but they're going to have to figure that out, they said, because it's like that was a good test. And so how it's going to look like when the Raiders go to go to Las Vegas. But aside from that, like everything apparently is wide the fuck open. That shit's crazy. I couldn't go.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I was supposed to meet up with Jack and Matt over there. With the Money Squad? Yeah, with the Money Squad. But I couldn't go because I had a guest here. I had the people here that we had to meet with. But at the end of the day, like I realized that's just not me anymore. Like I, when I heard. Yeah, when I heard everything, that it was like, it was busy.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Like, you can find tables. I mean, if you were a ninja, which we would have been, like, you could find table because that dude just sets the markers that's on like some fucking wild ass shit and Tim was there too so he's also fucking rolling hard I don't know if Jack or or Matt did uh at that level but apparently you can't get any tables and I'm and I was like you know what I'm cool man I'm a I'm a Tuesday morning during COVID Vegas type of guy now like literally nothing yeah I saw I wouldn't even want to go when it's that packed and when it's I mean that would be fun going to a big event like a UFC fight but
Starting point is 00:10:00 but to like hang out in Vegas during that time. Especially if you're like ninja or ninja. That popular. That popular. Just all the people that know you. And you can't even like just get drunk, be a little reckless, walk around, have fun and like truly enjoy the experience. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I saw all the videos like all the stories and I'm like, man, I don't have fear. I don't. I was fear missing out. FOMO. I didn't have it. They were hanging. Glad you didn't go. I'm not glad I didn't go.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Like I if if circumstances were different I would have gone and I would have had a blast obviously But I think that I would have cut out early like I usually do I would have been in bed by like 12 or 1 These guys brought I was I was in the thread and they were I was receiving good good night text at 8 a.m here So they were going to bed at like five six a.m. And then I see the stories and they're like they're hanging out with fucking marshmallow and zed and I'm like Baker mayfield I'm like they were fucking whiling out I'm good that makes me want to I want to do something like that. While out? I was kind of doing that too.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Just like a weekend away. Just drunk till 6, 7 in the morning. Damn. I need to. It's been a while for me. It's been a while for me too. It's been a while since I've done something like that.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Before COVID. There's going to be a crazy seeing going to the land. Have you ever seen him drunk? What? Not sloppy, but yeah. Yeah, he doesn't get sloppy. he just have you ever seen me
Starting point is 00:11:28 sloppy drunk yes yeah crying and shit have you seen no well cry
Starting point is 00:11:35 you're crying or be crying you've ever seen that you've ever seen that after the Raptors won the the finals that
Starting point is 00:11:42 that interview of Drake where he's like we do it all out here we change that's that's that's where he gets drunk he's just real vibe have you ever seen me
Starting point is 00:11:50 not sloppy drone no I don't really I've never I've never seen I've seen pictures so you laid in the middle of a of a hotel hallway.
Starting point is 00:11:59 I was getting text. I was getting text. That's the audios motherfuckers. The blue ones. Every time you drink is audios motherfucker. Every time you drink. Yeah, no, it says not for me. I mean, but I drink a lot. I know. You don't, you are either sober or off the planet. Would you have come with me to San Jose to test out all the strains that we were testing out for the, for the brand? No, I don't smoke. No, you do. J. Vlad type shit. Wait, what's that?
Starting point is 00:12:29 What's that? Do you know who flat is? He's just not incriminating himself. The guy who does interviews. He's a lot of rappers. He'll be like, so, yeah, so I'm glad you bought that house. So the guy you shot last summer, he was, God damn. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:44 He's like, so what exactly happened? In San Jose. It's legal in San Jose. And you're a blood, right? Oh, wait, what the fuck? Did you see the king or his breakfast club, King Vaughn, Lil Dirk were in there? And Vaughn was.
Starting point is 00:12:56 like kind of answering questions and Dirk was like and then Vaughn like looked over at him and he like just kind of went quiet. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And he was like, and he was like, all right. Boris, what do he say? He was like I don't know. So he just
Starting point is 00:13:12 changed. He changed the subject? Yeah. Dirk was just like coughing to like be like shut up. That's crazy. Imagine interview with somebody or you just like, oh man. Imagine interviewing somebody. Don't ask the wrong question. No, imagine interviewing somebody. You could just be fucking wide open and just like be you.
Starting point is 00:13:31 What do you mean? Like right now, like if I just ask Bose like a bunch of shit and he just answers like truthfully and we're going to have to cut it. I mean, that would be great. Imagine if you could just say like the thing that you said earlier. I mean, you can. We can do that. But you can't take a Southside Chicago rapper and ask him anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:49 But I don't know. Anyway, so did you guys watch the fight, the Porreier McGregor fight? A little bit. First round, I saw McGregor on his back and elbowed and I took my towels out and I went to shower. Now I came out and his ankles, bro. I was like, God, damn.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Call me crazy, but is McGregor the most overrated fighter of all time? No. No. No, he fought. No, he fought. He could fight, but he like Sean O'Malley could chip him up. Hell yeah, Sean O'Malley will chip him up. Yeah, are they the same weight class? I don't know. I don't think so. Even if they aren't, I'd still get, I'd still put
Starting point is 00:14:23 money. Sean O'Malley might be my favorite fighter. like in the last three years that dude's a fucking sniper he's good but I don't be seeing him and he's got like swag to the shit well it's just like that 20 I mean I'm not gonna act like I know
Starting point is 00:14:36 he's older though but like that 2015 through 2017 McGregor run was nuts that shit was it was the most entertaining for sure like yeah no he he is the face of UFC still to this day
Starting point is 00:14:49 you think so 100% that's not saying like I'm just talking about what do you mean that's not saying it's like I'm just talking about from you could say that at least I could be like skill set yeah Floyd is still the best
Starting point is 00:14:58 boxer at their crowd undefeated like sure he could be the face but he's not the best I think he's kind of getting Ronda Rousey right now like we're seeing him yeah you know what I mean because Ronald Rousey was how much money did he make on the last fight man
Starting point is 00:15:12 she lost once though and she completely fell off no yeah she lost once and after that it was all over she got done bad though that girl top stories right here how much did the Conner McGregor make
Starting point is 00:15:24 uh... million? No, he wouldn't He wouldn't be fighting There we go Convinager made Oh, what the fuck
Starting point is 00:15:33 To show 11,000 to show 5 million to show Just to show up Sean O'Malley Made 221 70 to show 70 with bonus
Starting point is 00:15:43 75 A fight of the night And it was fight of the night Oh my God That dude stole the show The dude who got his ass kicked Yeah The walking punching bag
Starting point is 00:15:52 Love that shit Oh my gosh Wait, who the dude Sean fought? He literally What was his name? Like Moutino? That dude
Starting point is 00:16:00 Sean hit him 742 times in the face And the guy just Yeah, people People were upset that they stopped it And I'm like Just because he can take it
Starting point is 00:16:10 Doesn't mean that it's okay To continue to allow him to take it I mean there was only 30 seconds left And I'm If I'm getting my ass beat for three rounds straight Just let me get me up for 25 more seconds What? It was bad
Starting point is 00:16:22 You gotta stop that You have to stop that. He's hitting you as hard as he can in the head. Herb Dean did the right thing. Your brain is rattling around in your head. Or maybe it isn't because obviously he wasn't falling. Like there was no science of him like even stumbling at some of those punches. But I do know that this looks like like he moves differently.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Sean O'Malley does. He's got swag to his fight. Not bro. The coordination that you have to have in order to have that control over your body is it's insane. It's just fucking crazy So I was excited to see him I excited to see him fight and win The Mexican girl showed up and snapped off
Starting point is 00:17:03 I mean those like that that that that fight card was was a super stacked up man You can go back dude So he made 10 what kind of 10 million? I can't believe he only made five million Ten 10 million Oh damn How much did he how much did he make with with Floyd though Well Floyd is different that shit's a fucking probably yeah But Floyd, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Floyd got that pay-per-view cut. But like once you do- If he had that UFC pay-per-view cut... Oh, he does... I think he does get up paper-view. 100% McGregor gets cut up the pay-per-view. I don't think those numbers were right. Mayweather's guaranteed a patient was 100.
Starting point is 00:17:39 McGregor was guaranteed $30 million. Right? McGregor earning 130 and then Mayweather, 280. Dude. How... What? Say what you want, but like once you get $130 million, that passion's gone.
Starting point is 00:17:54 I don't care who I mean he's still a very entertaining shit talker very good for view viewership yeah but that hunger there's no way there's no my hunger would be gone bro you might never see me again yeah I mean that is I would just do whatever I wanted to do that's what I told my chat the other day I was like chat if I ever come across some money like that you guys will not see me again yeah why that's what hutch says all the time I mean, I would probably still do stuff just because I enjoy it. Maybe. I'll pop up every now and then.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Just Instagram. Yeah, you wouldn't do these podcasts no more? No, yeah, yeah. I'd hop on Twitch every now and then. Say like, what's up? Yeah. But like, I'm not arguing with no one on Twitter no more. Huh?
Starting point is 00:18:43 You got, no, I'm not arguing no one on Twitter no more. Yeah. You ain't going to get like a response out of me or nothing. You'd go full Dan Bills area. Yeah. Just travel the world. Yeah. I mean, I'd be tweeting some crazy stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I don't know. Would you, would you really disappear? Like, you want to do these podcasts some more? No. I would be like a special guest appearance every now. Why? Fuck no. Well, for one, I would move.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Well, first of all, if you, if you got a hundred. To your neighborhood. If you got a hundred and a half to, what? I still made it here. If he got 180, that means I get 30. That's just how it works. So, yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:19:22 So we're out. Wait, well, how much we're all out? If I get $180 million, like, even Roger's good. Like, Roger's like, what the fuck? That's so much money. Nah. It's a lot of money. No, it's just like, you just want more.
Starting point is 00:19:39 The thing is this is like, your thirst for what you do doesn't go away just because you have money. It doesn't. You're always going to find something else. Hutch is like probably the only person that I believe that says that he would totally disappear. And it was like, I'm like, I could not disappear. I just could not disappear. He'd be that homeless dude in like 20 years playing chess and the parks. He's like a master or something.
Starting point is 00:20:04 It's like, where'd Huchko? 20 years from now? He lost all the money, but he's just some fucking chess hustler in New York. Wait, no, I don't think he would lose his money. He wouldn't lose his money. I don't know. There's another thing that's happened right now with Jeff Bezos and, speaking of money.
Starting point is 00:20:21 What's his name? What's his name? Richard Branson from a Virgin They're going to space No, he already did He already did? Who did? Branson did?
Starting point is 00:20:30 Yeah Yesterday and he got back and he's fine Bose, you're billion, you're that rich, you're risking it? No.
Starting point is 00:20:38 You're enjoying it? Unless I'm staying up there. No, I'm not going to space, hell no. Nah, I don't. I'm not going to space.
Starting point is 00:20:46 I'm not going under the ocean. That's a fucking once and who knows how the opportunity to go to space like that's nuts imagine being in space and looking at earth and you're just like elsewhere that's i don't know you know how like every you know how everybody says like you know roller coasters are fun and then you go on the roller coaster and it's just anxiety or for me it's just anxiety the whole time and then when i get off of the roller coaster i'm like okay i guess that was kind of fun
Starting point is 00:21:18 if you take that mentality and put me in space i think i would have a heart attack in space because I'd be like, I don't know if I'm getting home. Like that's how I would think. Yeah, you couldn't enjoy it. I couldn't enjoy seeing Earth because I'd be like, holy shit, I live there. You know what I mean? Like, I'm that far away from home.
Starting point is 00:21:35 When was the last time every human was on Earth? Like, is every human accounted for right now or on Earth? Or is somebody in space right now? That's a good question. I don't know. Good question. Who's in space right now? He's like, who's absent?
Starting point is 00:21:50 Who's absent? There has to be, right? Because man since 2000. Been man since 2000. So 1999. 1999. So since 1999, everybody who is from Earth hasn't been on Earth.
Starting point is 00:22:08 That's actually crazy. So someone's gone at all times? Just floating around. Yeah. Just working on a fucking machine that orbits the Earth. No, not only that, but you got to think. You got to think about.
Starting point is 00:22:20 the maintenance. You're not there to adjust to your job. You're also there to fix everything that goes fucking wrong with every sea dog. And you have to work out and shit because your body is like
Starting point is 00:22:30 deteriorate deteriorating. Yeah. Okay. As soon as you land, as soon as you land, they all throw up. Like as soon as you get back down, your body like readjusts to gravity
Starting point is 00:22:41 and you fucking get sick. Like, I mean, but the people that do it, that's what they want to do their entire life. So I'm happy for man yeah you what's up with that the bike what's is just the fitness thing
Starting point is 00:22:54 why is that a topic first off because it's like you're taking it a little bit too far too don't let it hold you down I don't know I bought a bicycle just I hate walking I hate running so I figure if I'm going to get in some cardio a few times a week Ian and Dana I've been biking you should bike with them
Starting point is 00:23:12 start a bike club yeah that's what I should do who wants to join not me I mean because they're in Dallas if they were around here I would buy a bike. Biking's fun. Yeah. I went to the bike shop and fucking bought, I went to the bike shop yesterday.
Starting point is 00:23:28 It's like 10, 15 minutes away and then just bought it and then rode back. Do you Uber there and they rode home? No, my girl took my car. But then, yeah, it was fun. I was like, wow, this is so much better than running. I do need some bike buddies. I would do it if they could find a good seat. It's fun.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Yeah. The seats, man. They just dig into my ass bones too much, man. Yeah, it does suck. Like back in the day, you never really used to sit down. You always be, like, crouched. Yeah. Just crouched.
Starting point is 00:23:59 You didn't really need a seat. And you didn't, like, notice it as a kid. Now you sit on a bike, and you're like, ah. I see his fucking gar. Bro, in high school, in high school, this dude right here, Mario had a bike, and he was riding on the pegs of his own bike, and I was riding the bike. I had my pedal down, my right pedal down, and then I hit one of those bumpers from the parking spot bumpers,
Starting point is 00:24:21 bro, we both flip forward. He lost both of his front teeth. No, shot. What the fuck? Yeah. I was in some kind of crazy bike accidents. Nothing like that, but. I was always on my bike.
Starting point is 00:24:35 That suck. Did you all ever, like, could you ever wheelie? Yeah, of course. I used to go to, I did the BMX thing for a little bit. Yeah, I could do it for like 10 seconds. Could you ride backwards? Yeah. As a kid, I could in Mexico because there's like,
Starting point is 00:24:49 You need a ride backwards. So like you just, I mean a little bit. Like down the hill, you go like a snake down the hill. I never tried that. Yeah, I could as a kid. As I grown up here, I could not do it. Like pedal backwards? Yeah, you're essentially just going backwards and using gravity to do that.
Starting point is 00:25:04 You're not really, you're mostly using gravity to use that as balance. Yeah. You did that in Chicago? No, as a kid in Juarez. Oh, that makes more sense. Yeah, there's no hills in Chicago. Not like that. But yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Because when you pedal backwards, I mean, I would get up to high speed and pedal and then go. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. The dead sound. So is it just mostly like a fitness thing? How many miles are you doing a day or? I don't know. I just got it for just because I hate walking and hate running.
Starting point is 00:25:35 So I figure, I don't know. I'll figure it out. It's definitely fun. You forget how fun bites on. Probably try to do like a ride it like three times a week, like an hour each time. Get some sun. Be out in nature. instead of like walking on the treadmill
Starting point is 00:25:49 in my apartment gym. You know what I'm saying? I do. I do. We had a bit of a get-together here at the hex quarters to watch the London versus versus Argentina.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Brazil. Fuck. Italy. The Italy game versus fucking London. I was like, what the hell are you talking about? England versus. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:26:07 yeah. I called, I called P-Ks and I called which ones they were going to miss. It's on video. And you got them all right? No. I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:19 I got the ones that that matter. Five penalty kicks. That shit was crazy. Is that the most exciting outcome when it's penalty kicks? Probably. Well, actually like a last second goal is crazy too. I mean, just like with Optic, if it's not my team, like I don't mind seeing it go to PKs.
Starting point is 00:26:42 If it was my team, then yeah, I'd be a little bit more anxious about it. That would be crazy, though. Imagine. Dude, the amount of pressure that you're walking up to a penalty kick, because they stand at half. Like all your teammates are standing at half field. And then you got to walk up to get the ball. In front of 90,000 people.
Starting point is 00:27:02 But you know there's like millions. Yeah. Like millions of people watching. I must feel like there's more pressure on the goalie. No. No. No. Because the goalie has, well, the kicker, the shooter has everything to lose because you're supposed to make it it's like a free throw it's a free throw you're
Starting point is 00:27:20 supposed to make it if you miss it it's on you yeah basically period actually period even if the goalie just yeah yeah well that doesn't ever happen like a great goalie yeah but like a top right like if you hit it where you're supposed to hit it every time no keeper in the world can save like an up like a like a like if you hit it top right top right top left but i would be predicting people like like like i know you're I know you're going top. Right when they're about to kick, I'm already running. Like, just predicted. Typical of the American.
Starting point is 00:27:52 It's like they don't try. You're like, like put in some effort shit sport. Just kidding. Just kidding. I didn't, obviously, like, I saw some, I read about how, you know, the Londoners were being mega fucking racist. Because the three dudes that missed were black dudes. Right. Now, I will give you this.
Starting point is 00:28:13 For what it's worth. Those first two dudes, the dudes that ran out. up to the ball and then and then stutter stepped into it. I hated that shit. I've never liked it. I can't stand all that cute shit. Just fucking hit it and get it back there. Guess what happened?
Starting point is 00:28:25 I literally put it on there. I'm like, he's going to miss. He's going to go left and he's going to miss. Sure enough, dude runs off. Stutter steps. Just all that stutter, bro, just watch Pagma's PK. Dude just walked up to it, looked at it, looked at it, looked to the net,
Starting point is 00:28:40 whipped it. Top right and then walked out. Everybody else is just doing all this like. Yeah. All the stutter stuff. Stutter. I was like, dude, just go get it, man. And look, and before you say, Hector,
Starting point is 00:28:51 what do you know about soccer? Hector, what do you know the list? Just know that I know. I can't stand. I can't stand when people say that shit. Stick to gaming. Stick to fucking reading Twitter then. Can't stand when Americans talk about football.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Like, I will fucking, like, shut the, I will fuck. I can run laps around your ass. I promise you. Amen. Amen. All right. We're going to go to a quick commercial break to say hello to the sponsor.

Thank you for supporting it. Come again. Guys, you hit the link in the description so you can find out more. We got some questions from the audience. Like I said at the beginning of last podcast, if we choose your question, you're going to get an exclusive Optic podcast t-shirt. And right now we have three. We've gone through some of these. And I just,
Starting point is 00:33:14 None of them are worth a t-shirt except for this one. What is your most useless talent? Do you have a useless talent? Do you have a? Oh my God, that was so bad. It's really good, right? Yeah, it was actually, yeah. It's like, but I do, it's like such a nervous tick that I...
Starting point is 00:33:33 What are you doing? I guess it's, uh-oh. You're going to do the same thing, but... I don't know, like, what is a talent? Is that talent? Is that a talent? Yeah, like, what would you consider useful? What's a useful talent?
Starting point is 00:33:47 What's a useless talent? Useful talent? Manipulation. Speed. Strength. When I think of talent, I think of like creative shit, right? Like artists, musicians, athletes, right? That's like an insane.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I mean, but is that a talent or is just naturally gifted? I will say something that surprised me is I'm really like surprisingly good at like puzzle games. And that's pretty useless. No, it's useful. You think so? Yeah, of course. Yeah, it's problem solving ability.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Life is a puzzle. Finally, somebody says it. It's the most useful talent you could have. I don't know. I mean, I guess it depends. I don't think I, I mean, everything, if I have a talent, I can use it in some degree to something. Do you have a useless talent?
Starting point is 00:34:42 I'm trying to think. I mean, I have a lot, but like not ones that are good. is like arm farting. We set the bar high with the far. Yeah. I feel that. I feel that. That was definitely the first thing
Starting point is 00:34:54 that came to the line. So yeah, thank you, Ismail Sierra. Matt will be reaching out through the Hexquarters Twitter account. Is that how they left
Starting point is 00:35:04 their information? All right. He's going to hit you up somehow. You'll get it. So please reply. One last question. You don't get a T-shirt for this one. It's just not creative enough, right?
Starting point is 00:35:17 Wait, what? I like that. That's the approach. Be real. I'm gonna be real. It's not a good. I mean, it's a cool. We should actually have a bunch of questions.
Starting point is 00:35:26 How about this? Read them off and be like, no. How about this? If you ask a cod question, you don't get a T-shirt. How about that? Literally. Thank you. Oh, my.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Finally. All right. It's this one. This one from visually awkward says, if they had a solid ranked playlist that was Elo based and had a top 100, 500, leaderboard of Overwatch I've talked about this a lot What is the question?
Starting point is 00:35:53 What is the question? Stop, we just don't read that one Why are you reading that one? What is the question there? Visually awkward You think pro teams Would pick up top rank? No.
Starting point is 00:36:02 No, no. No pro cod team is picking up someone Because they're on the leaderboards. No team In any sport. Wait, how did Mix will get brought on to fucking optic though? DAPS is a
Starting point is 00:36:17 No DAPS, no it was HLG TV DAPS hit up HLG TV and said hey who's Who's who's like Popping off in these other Like leagues and stuff So maybe not necessarily
Starting point is 00:36:30 I guess it doesn't apply because it's not rank It depends though if it did it depends if the pros are playing the ranked Playlist like four competitive Like all day Like say like random people like you know Simps scump formal and fucking Our cities are just searching the playlist and they match against
Starting point is 00:36:47 doesn't matter yeah I don't think so either doesn't matter there's who's that one guy but I'm saying if they're consistent like in the Halo 3 matchmaking you match against the same people all the time and there's some people where you're like
Starting point is 00:36:59 damn this guy's actually and YASC and then it's like oh we need one and then you invite that guy and you play with them and it it's like a slow process but it depends how competitive the rank playlist is
Starting point is 00:37:13 and like how serious pros would take it But it's like if you have scump, simp, arsides, and formal, all in one team in league play, I guess like what sort of standout performance are you going to have? I guess what he's saying is in League of Legends. I think there will be people that can like, will give them a run for their money on random online games. I guess what he's saying is in League of League, in League, Overwatch, CSGO, Valorant, or Ann Valerant, Pro teams have picked up people based off their rank. That's what he's saying. It's not based off the rank.
Starting point is 00:37:47 There's no way it's based off their rank, right? Well, I think it's just like the consistency of they see. And it's also random players just consistent. Like, it's probably the same for S&D. You're like, who the fuck is this guy? But he like keeps performing, keeps winning. He's doing good against good teams. You're like, wait, who is this?
Starting point is 00:38:07 Yo, you want to play one day? And I think that's how these players sort of get into the pro scene. Maybe that, maybe in that case, yes. I don't know. But I guess in Call of Duty and in Halo, I guess, I mean, I guess those are the only ones with, like, ranked systems that I've, like, ever been exposed to. It's just like, you can't just know life it and expect to be on a pro team. That's just not how. That's the thing is like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Because most of the time. You shouldn't be able to get a rank from no lifeing. Like, it should be winning. Yeah, yeah, I get that. But even finally But even like just winning all the time Like
Starting point is 00:38:50 Like if we're winning like Based Elo ranks or systems I don't know how it works But like in Rock is that's that's how it is in Rocket League If you win you rank up And if you lose you go down It's not based up points or anything So like you you get to the top level
Starting point is 00:39:06 Supersonic Legend or whatever And some players Are noticeably better than the other players So it's like even if you get to Supersonic Legend and Rocket League doesn't mean you could ever compete with fucking Justin. You're like, you're still going to get smoked.
Starting point is 00:39:19 But also it's better than nothing. So if you continue to play those and continue to, every time you play, you match up against pro players. They're definitely going to learn your name. I think it's a good way to get your name out there. I don't know if it's a good way to get picked up. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:39:35 you're not going picked up. But like, that's just the process of going pro. It's like you start winning against pros. then because you're winning against pros, they might, you might have the chance to start playing with them. How many pros are currently competing in the CDL
Starting point is 00:39:51 that weren't pros before the CDO was a thing? Like a lot. But that's all the S&D scene. That's all the S&D scene. In my opinion. Well, I mean, it's a bunch of, it's a bunch of different things. I just don't know if that will ever be a thing
Starting point is 00:40:05 because just think about it, right? Like it's, well, whoa, whoa, whoa, what? No, we were talking. I don't know what. You didn't hear? I don't know. I just, I don't think that's the case. I mean, obviously, like, people, people, this, this, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:20 I mean, is this still a friendship league, do you think? No, not anymore. CDL. You think so? Like what, like what? Always will be. No, but how can they be? What's that team?
Starting point is 00:40:31 Is it L. They're literally, aren't they, like, trash? Are they the worst ranked? I think so. They're the worst. And it's like, L. L.A.G is in the last spot right now. Who was on their team?
Starting point is 00:40:44 Was it Chino? Chino. And apparently he was like doing the best. Like, obviously. That shit apparently was, I don't know if anybody knows the story behind that. But that was done through the actual, uh, through LHG. It wasn't done from the players. Like the players were like even we know.
Starting point is 00:41:02 No, dude, there's a lot of teams that are ran by like Jcap. Jacob runs that team. Jcap runs that team. He says who's sitting. He says who's playing. And there's no fucking discussion around there. If Troy came here and said, I just don't believe that.
Starting point is 00:41:17 You're going to sit down and this guy's going to play. That shit doesn't work like that. Like one day it'll work like that. I think the players, I would put money on the fact that the players control the roster. I would back Troy in a move like that. I would, I think. I would.
Starting point is 00:41:33 If you said, you got to sit Seth. I'll be like, well, let's not start there. Not for our team. I don't think for our team. I don't know, man. So, you know, speaking of our team, they've been playing Valoran on stream. Apparently all four of them were playing together, Settlemander Man and the rest of the people.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Yep. Like, I think that people like our players or people just like pros that are other scenes have a better chance of being picked up to a pro team, to a pro-valor team, than the one that's performing the best on the, on whatever this is there. Wait, what? Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:06 So we were talking about whether or not you would be able to pick up somebody if you're like one of the best performing ones on league. play. I'm saying that somebody like that, a pro player in another e-sport, would have a better chance of getting picked up than somebody who is at the top of the leaderboard. I mean, for sure. Shotsie got picked up before he even played. Yeah. And it panned out. But I mean, that's an extreme case because he was such a freak at Halo. Yeah, everybody said that, right? Like, even having to be playing Cod before, right? He played S&D attorneys or something. He played like some black up. He played blackups four a little bit, I think. But regardless, it was a risk to
Starting point is 00:42:41 pick him up. When they picked him up at the beginning at MW, it was like, and for people who knew who he was. Formal too. Yeah. Formal. Yeah. Formal kind of. Yeah. Crim progressed. It was like he played with Halo, then he played with fear, and then he got on. I think, I think, I think, what's his name? Crem was the only one that went straight from Halo to Cod, right? Well, who, Crim went from Cod to Halo? Oh, is that really the how it went? Hoking. Nier went from Rainbow Six Vegas to Fariko. That's crazy. And he won champs that year.
Starting point is 00:43:15 One champs. Won his first appearance and then won champs. Yep. That's insane. What do you still keep up with him? Yeah, he's being in the Discord stream, Warzone. Oh, you plays Warzone? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Do you think the leagues don't have a problem with them playing Valorant on stream? Yep. Yeah. Why? They had, Carl duty, had 14,000 viewers last time at 3.31 a.m. I was up. Because Cod, if you click on Cold War Say that again?
Starting point is 00:43:42 It had like 14.9K views. What, the CDL? No, like Twitch. All of Call of Duty. All of Cold War. Everyone's streaming Cold War. If Seth's not on, bro, the top, the, the, is rough, man.
Starting point is 00:43:59 If Seth's not on, the top streamer has... 500 viewers. Me at 200 viewers. Me at 500. Dead ass. I thought it would have changed because at one point, like during Black Ops, no, during Ghosts, old men of Optic was the second most popular team streaming at the time.
Starting point is 00:44:17 I mean, if we get on. No, you weren't. We were. Uptonation? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I forgot about Obination. If we get on. I just said that. Oh, that wasn't.
Starting point is 00:44:26 I wasn't fact checked. No, because at the time, like, like, fucking Fizz was getting like five. Yeah. Hodge was getting like seven. Me and Diesel were still like under a thousand. I'm saying if we get on and right now we're in a big plateau like TST is because we can't figure out what the fuck to do
Starting point is 00:44:45 and even if we get on Cold War we're the top streamer if those guys aren't on and it's like that that's not a good spot I don't think is you the plateaued as much as it's the system in which you play in this I don't want to depend
Starting point is 00:44:59 illegible I don't want to depend on it God well I mean I wouldn't I wouldn't be too hard on yourself I don't know Do you think, I mean, a lot of people lately, right? Like, it's all over the news. Like, Collie Duties in a bad spot.
Starting point is 00:45:12 But I don't understand. And maybe it's because I've been here since fucking Call of Duty 2. It's always been the cycle where as you get towards the end of the game cycle, it starts to die out. There's not that many viewers. I don't think that the way that we're doing the league right now is like necessarily the best way. I think that we're oversaturating and there isn't a buildup towards those matches. Like, if we got rid of league play all or league all. together and we only had MLG events like the way that we use like one every two months like
Starting point is 00:45:42 I think that that sort of tournament will will bring in a little way and it's like is and we can't go backwards I think there's got to be something though in my opinion what I feel like keep the league maybe make make league the road to champs but also bring back the open bracket and have them play against franchise teams put the put to do do do exactly what we used to do put franchise teams and groups yeah and then in each group give two spots for open bracket teams and have people play through open and then and then have people play the group like all in one weekend just like an old MLG event you know combine open bracket teams you can't do that economic you can't do that that because then if the open team just starts spanking everyone or like wins but there's someone
Starting point is 00:46:33 going to be mad they waste the hell of money but what I'm saying saying is that wouldn't affect that wouldn't affect the actual league oh no no no keep it like have those like stay like one off events like for the prize pool maybe i mean i don't know and then just have what we're doing now still happen but it's like i don't think i'm going to tell you why yeah i'll be like all right i'm not paying i'm not paying 25 and i'm going to take scump and all them to go play in challengers and still be fucking still be the most watch go to the France League. But like what would
Starting point is 00:47:06 but what would that benefit you to play through open bracket? I wouldn't have to pay 25. Yeah, but you're still not getting the actual franchise league benefits. Because I was saying we keep the franchise league but then also have just so we could what benefits are we? I know what the benefits.
Starting point is 00:47:22 I just need to know if you know the benefits. True. Okay. So it's like that that sort of mentality is that look if I can fix challengers to fucking day. Ambo's fucking maniac we'll take Big T
Starting point is 00:47:35 No No he's He's pat I don't think He would even want to I just know that you two Would want to Playing challengers
Starting point is 00:47:41 If I could get viewership Teh but I don't know if I would You No Yeah you're right I don't know I'm just saying that
Starting point is 00:47:49 There are enough Popular enough People out there That could That could raise That viewership A little bit But
Starting point is 00:47:57 It could be like Me, Bo Zuma Enable Yeah And like That'd be by far the most watched challenger team. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Maybe we should. B.T.H. Optic Nation? Optic Nation? Optic Nation? That's music. If you put B.T. If you put B.T.H.
Starting point is 00:48:16 You think B.T.H has that big of a name is going to carry it? You know what I would do 100% right fucking now? Not bigger than Nation. You know what I would do right now? I would do all a talks and bows, or three of talks and bows to play
Starting point is 00:48:31 challengers right now as Optic Nation. easy. You just got dropped again. You say you didn't want to do it. That's what I'm saying. Otherwise, I would have taken lethal and snakebite in YouTube. Well, it depends, man.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Are you salaried? Yeah. Are you not salaried right now? Yeah. I don't know. I think at these, I think, look,
Starting point is 00:48:55 I'm not, I don't, how do I say this without fucking ending up on the news? There is no way. I am not worried. There is no news. But it's a little bit concerning, right, that we have like some, some, some like big names playing and the viewership is not, is not up there. It's mad concerning.
Starting point is 00:49:16 This is most concern I've ever been. Why, though? This happens every time. It doesn't happen every time. It doesn't happen every time because every time we have the ability to. Was it game battles that clutched? MLG. This is the, this is the second time it's happened post-frust.
Starting point is 00:49:34 franchising and the first time we could blame the game. Now we can't blame the game because the game is good competitively. The game is fun to watch competitively. It's not fun. It has zero content in it. It's not fun on the pub side of things. The skill-based matchmaking basically ruined any chance of any streamer ever playing it. Yeah, that's carb.
Starting point is 00:49:54 But it's a good game to watch. So stupid. You meant that one, right? He was so. He closed his eyes and trash. It brought me back to like my first. first games of pubs because I didn't play Cold War till like months in and my first games of pubs
Starting point is 00:50:10 I'm shitting I'm like this is so fun and then like two days later my skill based matchmaking's risen and I'm like this is fucking stupid I might as well play league play but I don't really want to play that either but I do what do you play real life GTA or GTA literally
Starting point is 00:50:34 I don't know I started flipping a car Just knowing Just knowing what the future looks like for college duty That's that's like maybe why I'm not as stressed But it is a little bit concerning that You know and I don't know what it is Like what
Starting point is 00:50:50 Like I don't The thing is like I can't have this open conversation Without like throwing people under the bust So I'm not going to I just explain what it is Yeah there's no content There's no content You couldn't even I don't even think
Starting point is 00:51:03 I don't even think Activision could pay people to play right now to play Cold War. Like I weren't there. I mean, obviously, if it's an insane amount, but if they said, you know, Tim or Jack will give you $5,000 to stream Cold War for five hours. Jack doesn't get out of bed for $5,000. I'm saying, even if it was guaranteed free money, they're still not going to play that game.
Starting point is 00:51:28 It's just not good for anyone. It's not good for anyone. The only thing that it's good That that the only benefit is that if Seth streams it It's good for Cod And that's the only So why is it like that? Because there's no
Starting point is 00:51:43 There's no content to it There's no way to make the game entertaining if it's not So 4 V4 competitive What would make it entertaining or content? I don't need how I came back I think
Starting point is 00:51:57 I mean a good ranked play I think Yeah rank play obviously like that i'm not even going there because it's just not a thing yeah this like i'm exactly yeah i mean the skill based matchmaking is i mean it's it's insane i mean s and d doesn't have like last like final kill cam but here's the thing though i don't know there's but here's the thing it's like i'll be the one to say who the fuck who's in this like no final kill cam like yeah is everyone Everyone head up their ass.
Starting point is 00:52:27 It's like best, well, it's like best play instead of final kill cam. So like, go back to the drawing board like, give me a fucking. Would you go back to the drawing board when your game is making a billion dollars on release and then more like billions more on skins and all that shit? Or do we listen to a small fragment? Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know what I mean? We don't care about it because we're in it. I get it.
Starting point is 00:52:48 You know what I mean? I get it from that from that point of view. It's like, are like casualables sitting there like, God, this game sucks. There are casuals aren't. playing it. The only people playing it are people that are like dedicated to 753 million people play it though. What?
Starting point is 00:53:03 How many people play Caled Dune on a daily basis? No, this is Cold War, not war zone. Sure. Cold War. And Warzone is at an all-time low as well. You could probably see how many people are on it right now. Is war zone? Is that an all-time low? Yeah, I saw it the other day.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Like viewer numbers? Oh, viewers. I mean, viewership. Players. Actually, viewership, it might be at a low, but as far as people playing i saw i forgot where i saw right now i feel like people enjoy watching anything more than more than what ten right now at this moment yeah 10 million no bro maybe 300 right now okay okay so four is that oh watching 164 000 people or 4,000 are watching Cold War? Yeah, but who's street?
Starting point is 00:53:55 So that means there's 250,000 people in the world on it right now. You what? There's like a quarter million people playing the game worldwide right now. This is the thing, though. This is the thing, though. Is those 164,000 people watching Warzone because of Warzone, or is it because of the people playing it? It's because of the people playing. Well, if, well, if, if, uh, what's his name?
Starting point is 00:54:17 If Tim, uh, Merks, Nick Merks and called three other big ones were playing Fortnite do those viewers go to Fortnite? Yeah. Okay, so it's not, it's not a,
Starting point is 00:54:31 it's not a call of duty thing. It's, I mean, it is a call of duty thing, but not from that perspective because it's, it's more driven by the, by the influencers.
Starting point is 00:54:38 I think, I think call it duty is very vulnerable right now. Yep. In a state where, for a long time, I was like, well,
Starting point is 00:54:44 you know, it'll never be taken over. And I still don't think it'll be taken over because there's not an arena shooter that can compete with it. Yeah. In my opinion.
Starting point is 00:54:51 that isn't like aliens and shit. There's only one person I can save it. What? What am I going to do now? Become the CEO, get fucking 150 million, whatever dude gets paid with bonuses of fucking 30 million and save the culture.
Starting point is 00:55:08 One, it is. You know that salary's going to be. No, you never become the, the CEO of a public company, period. you just don't. That's just not in anyone's best interest.
Starting point is 00:55:25 I mean, actually, I would do it for $200 million a year. I'm not qualified, though. I'm definitely not qualified. There's too many people. Look, there's things that we can do to increase. We've set them over the last decade. So hopefully one day, they'll listen, and hopefully we sort of write this ship.
Starting point is 00:55:41 But I think that we've talked enough about it. I'm still very bullish on it. So we were going to talk about Cod, then we talked about Cod. I know. Might as well ask the other. All the Cala duties that you guys play. I guess we might as well send them.
