Hey everyone, Jack here with a very important announcement.
This show has been growing very fast, and today I'm so excited to announce the Otherworld Patreon.
Becoming a patron of Otherworld gives you access to bonus episodes, videos, and access to the
Patreon-only Discord, and most importantly, it gives you a way to contribute to the show.
I've had some amazing friends willing to help me out, but for the most part, it's just me
over here making this show at my house, and it's a ton of work.
Becoming a patron will truly support the show, help it grow, and enable us to do some really,
really amazing things in the future.
On the Patreon, I'm also going to be having musicians, actors, artists, and other interesting
people to come on and chat about the show, related topics, paranormal and not paranormal.
I think that it's going to be really cool and also a good way to normalize talking about some
things that people consider to be very strange.
I'm also going to be doing interviews with experts and having past guests of the show come on to give updates and talk about things we couldn't get to in their episodes.
I have big plans for Otherworld.
I have always thought about this as more than just a podcast, and I think one day the Patreon can enable us to do some really wild things with the show.
Eventually, I want to be traveling and do stories in other countries from different cultures.
I also want to do documentaries and research one day that the Patreon can help fun.
The possibilities are truly endless, but I do need your support.
So go to patreon.com slash Otherworld to sign up today.
Like I said, there are already a few episodes up, including an unreleased UFO story,
and an interview with Wendy's daughter, Harmony.
Today, we're also releasing a Patreon episode that you're about to hear a little preview of.
It's an interview with the band Beach Fossils.
It turns out they're listeners of Otherworld, and they stopped by while they are in town
to record an episode with me.
If you want to hear that episode
and all of the other amazing bonus content we have up,
go to Patreon.com slash Otherworld to sign up.
Thank you so much for your support,
and I hope to see you back there.
And like I said,
here's a little preview of the most recent Patreon episode
with the band Beach Fossils.
To hear the rest, go to patreon.com slash Otherworld
and become a patron.
You guys had weird extreme moments on tour or anything?
I mean, not paranormal.
I had kind of like a paranormal thing on tour.
Not in this band.
This was like 12 years ago or something.
My old band Depreciation Guild.
Okay.
We played a show at Club Congress.
It's like in Tucson.
Okay.
There's a hotel attached to it called Hotel Congress.
And it's like one of the most haunted sites in America.
Really?
Yeah, it's like a popular site for like ghost hunters and stuff.
There's just, yeah, there's like stories of like this guy that,
like wears a top hat and just like a ton of sightings of him um and there's this one room where
i guess like multiple people have committed suicide and uh in the closet you could still see like a
bullet hole from like the last person that oh damn themselves there so we're staying like on the
same floor as like the suicide room but not in the suicide room because it's i guess hard to book
it because so many ghost hunters are like trying to stay that's so weird yeah that's i still don't
understand that like why go looking for this stuff yeah i know the evp people
People just want proof, I guess.
It's like they want to know.
But yeah, so we're staying like on that floor and we just like played the show and we're kind of like just buzzed from playing and just like wandering like the weird kind of, you know, like a shining kind of vibe.
And we like walked by the suicide room and the do not disturb sign kind of like moved.
And we're like, oh shit, do you guys see that?
And this is like before we even had like cameras on our phones.
I think my brother like literally took out his like digital camera to like take a.
video of him and he was like filming it and it just started like violently shaking and we just like
fucking took off like we just like ran back to the room just like jumped under the covers
what do you think it could have been i mean like the skeptic in me is just like oh it's like drafty
or something but it was like how violent of the shaking are we talking here we're talking like
it wasn't just like waving in the wind it was like a bam bam bam bam you know wow rattling that was
like one of the freaker things to happen to me
Practical jokers, the camera was set up down the hall,
they're like, we're going to get these guys.
Yeah, guys inside shaking the door.
This is the most specific prank of all time.
It was like all three of us saw it and like ran, you know what I mean?
Like it wasn't like a hallucination or something.
Yeah, that's so weird.
This video exists still like on a digital camera somewhere that my brother has.
Oh wait, you took a video.
My brother did.
Yeah, yeah.
Wow.
You need that too.
Okay, wait, I'm going to make a little note.
We'll see if, um...
Yeah, where was this video?
What state?
It's at Tucson.
Oh, Tucson.
It would be funny for you to be choosing fight
in that situation
instead of like,
you're like,
no,
I'm gonna beat this shit
on this sign right now.
Grass levels
and the plastic sign.
Yeah,
this sign's done,
dude.
We had a,
um,
we had an experience on tour once.
I don't know if it would call it paranormal,
but it was like we had a collective hallucination.
We all had the same,
you know,
yeah.
We were in,
well,
it was like a long tour,
right?
So it was like we were doing like,
North America,
Europe,
Australia,
New Zealand.
Crazy's tour of all time.
Brazil.
It was like really long.
It was just in 30 days.
And we were getting...
We went from Israel, Greece or something, then to Australia.
New Zealand.
Yeah.
We were like going to customs in our pajamas at a certain point.
We were flying so much.
It was just like ID and like we're delirious.
Yeah.
So one was a flight from New Zealand,
lay over in Dubai and then to Brazil.
and they were both like 19 to 17 hour flights each.
We chose to fly the wrong way around the world
where you could fly the easy way or you can fly the hard way.
And so this was like in Dubai,
we were boarding the plane
and none of us had slept in, who knows,
24 hours, whatever.
And we get on the plane and we're trying to figure out our seats
and our old drummer Tommy
and Jack, they both had,
we were looking at the tickets,
and it was like, oh shit, they're both...
Like 27A or something.
Yeah, like, they're both seated in 27A.
And so I'm like, hold on, like, y'all are looking at the tickets wrong or whatever.
So I look at the tickets, I grab both of them, they both say 27A.
And you're like...
All I want to do is sit down right now.
Yeah.
I've just been standing for two.
like, fuck, you know, like they, you know, they booked this wrong.
Like, I hope we can all sit because it's like a full flight, you know, like, I hope we can still get a seat.
So I'm going to like, we all look at the tickets and we're all like, how could they have made this big of a mistake?
See, I like go to Flagdown the flight attendant and I look back at the tickets and like right in front of my eyes, one of them just is like 27B.
And I'm like, wait, look, this one's different.
And then all of a sudden, everyone looks back.
and we all see it.
And we're like, oh, shit, like, this is...
Like a different row or like...
It's like the seat next to it.
Oh, wait, so you thought you had two 27 A's.
Yeah.
Yeah, we had the same exact.
Identical ticket.
That's crazy.
Yeah, it's that weird mass.
Like, everyone has, like, three brain cells left.
And so if one person makes a suggestion
and survival instincts, like, her mentality believes that,
our brains are going to believe that.
And then we finally, like, snapped out of it.
We're like, it changed in front of our eyes.
And then you sit down and you go directly to sleep.
like shame, shame nap.
It was like a bizarre illusion,
but we all saw the same thing.
And I think we were just so tired, yeah.
Well, even that, I mean, like, okay,
so even that, you're telling me that as,
like, a funny ha-ha, we were just actually stupid
the whole time, like, but it's interesting.
And people even, you know,
write off paranormal experiences like this, like,
mass delusion or whatever.
But even that, it's, like,
interesting to think that our brains can be like,
you know, even if you're hallucinating the same way,
It's kind of interesting, like, that there's this,
maybe there's like some kind of unspoken connection between people, you know?
Yeah, definitely.
Like, yeah.
Well, because it's like we're spending so much time together already
that we already almost have this like collective way of thinking and speaking.
Like when we come back from tour,
I find it like difficult to communicate with people that I haven't been on tour with
because we're in such a rhythm that like we don't even have to say much.
to understand each other.
And I come back and I try to talk to my wife
and she's like, what the fuck are you talking?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaking in code, yeah.
I was actually going to bring up,
you could talk about venues,
the one we just did in San Francisco.
It's called the church.
What was it called?
The church.
Yeah, that's supposed to be a haunted venue.
We saw crazy video.
Yeah, I'll set up the side of you guys,
but basically it's like, it was,
I'm trying to remember the story.
It was like over 100 plus,
50 plus to 100 years ago.
it was a children's orphanage, I believe.
And it was like,
or a children's hospital, orphanage hospital,
something like that.
And so there is a, yeah,
kids are being taken there,
and they're obviously getting sick and dying there.
And there was basically like a crematorium,
moratorium, yeah, at location
and they would like burn bodies
and like to send them into the basement of this, you know,
of this hospital.
And then in the past like 15 years,
I think they recently converted it into a venue.
And I mean, it's a great venue.
everyone worked that was on staff was amazing
we had a great time but
it was only after we like sound check and we
had like what three nights there or something
it was only after like I think the first night
they started unpacking like oh by the way
you know this place it's haunted and like
and then everyone was telling us their little stories about it
but um yeah we went out with like all the
staff after the third show
um because you know it was like a residency
so we started getting like kind of close
with everyone that worked there and
every single person
on the staff had their own
paranormal
stories that they were just
like so casual about
they were like
it's like impossible
to work at this place
and not have
these experiences
like some of them
would be like
I'm there by myself
closing
and I hear like
something saying my name
you know
and they
and literally all of them
were saying it
like it was no big deal
they were like
yeah you just get used
to it if you work here
yeah
they're all so light about it
yeah
yeah one of the
they took us down
to the basement as well
oh yeah
I didn't get down
I was like, I'm not going down there.
And the air got really tight
and almost kind of warm and like strange.
They showed us a video.
There's crazy video.
Yeah, there's a video on YouTube
from the venue actually
where it's like the security camera
had captured some sort of like activity
and it's clearly like a human figure
just like running through the place
in the middle of the night.
So they have the footage of
those people, they're leaving,
their closing, it shows the last person out, and then it goes blank because it tracks movement.
So it only turns down with those movements.
Like later in the night.
And then cuts from like, I don't know, 1 a.m. to like 5.30 a.m.
where it's just something like sprinting towards the door.
Sorry, quick correction.
It's the chapel.
The chapel, yeah.
The chapel, okay.
Yeah, something sprinting towards the door, like looking or something and then like
running the other way into the darkness.
Huh.
Yeah.
And there was like no evidence that a person had been locked in there.
Yeah.
You know, like there wasn't someone in there when they...
I imagine they have like a security system.
Yeah, exactly.
All right, that brings us to the end of the preview of my Patreon episode with the band Beach Fossils.
If you want to hear the rest of that and all the other bonus content I have up there already
