Welcome to Otherworld. I'm your host, Jack Wagner.
The story comes from a pair of friends. Their names are Nicole and Eileen. At the time this thing
happened to them, they were headed into San Francisco to finally do something that they've been
dreaming about for a very long time, riding motorcycles in San Francisco's Pride Parade with
an all-female biker group. When it comes to the paranormal, I know that a lot of skeptical
people write off these experiences as some kind of manifestation of stress during difficult times.
This story was very much not taking place during a difficult time, or anything scary for that matter.
San Francisco's Pride Parade is one giant celebration, and these two were really, really looking
forward to doing this for many years. They are finally going to be doing something that they've been
dreaming about. Yet, the night before the parade, they both experienced something very strange.
And what's particularly interesting to me is that one of these friends is very open-minded
about the paranormal, and the other is a stone-cold skeptic. The story involves seeing something
that they refer to as a doppelganger. And if you aren't familiar, doppelganger is a
German word, which means double walker. In mythology, a doppelganger is sort of like a copy of a
person, an evil twin, an apparition of a person who is alive. You've probably seen versions of this
in countless books, movies, TV shows, you name it. It's all over the place. And it's come up
briefly within a few stories that have been on this show before. But this is the first time it's
up as kind of the main thing that happened to somebody. This is something that's been referenced
in literature and mythology going back ages and across so many different cultures. There are many
terms for this same phenomena and many beliefs about what it might mean. Personally, I do not like
to put things into boxes or categories when it comes to the topics on this show. Instead,
I like hearing about it all from the people who experienced it,
noticing the parallels between the different accounts,
and doing my best to piece things together.
I'm going to let Nicole and Eileen take it from here.
This is episode 77.
The title is, you're not Eileen, and you're listening to Otherworld.
Is this Bobby?
Yes, it is.
At its core, the science, you can't argue.
That's worried about it is up in the sky.
frustrating that is happening. I'm literally going to die. I'm going to die. If limbs were just like wrong.
Everybody moves back into the light, even if it takes them of it.
It's Nicole, and I am originally from Los Angeles, but I have been living in Virginia for many
years now. I'm a teacher and an indie author. Yeah, I teach high school English. I'm in school
to become a school librarian, so I'm hoping to be doing that next year. Eileen and I, I,
were very close. We have been since we were 10. One of the things, though, about mine and I
Leans' relationship and our friendship is she is a huge skeptic. She doesn't believe in anything
paranormal. She is, and I don't think she would mind if I said this. She's a staunch atheist.
So we disagree on that level. We met at Catholic school. Her family was very Catholic,
And my family, my mother, and my grandmother, they were more into spiritualism and, you know, going to psychic fairs and being very open to all things spiritual and mystical.
Every time we would move, we would sage our house.
So from a very early age, I was just exposed and encouraged to be open to unearthly things.
So Eileen and I, we were vastly different in that regard, which is important to the story.
So this certainly was not the first paranormal experience I've had.
And one of the things that I did not mention in the email, and it is very relevant, is in the past,
when I have had unexplained experiences, I haven't been afraid.
I wouldn't categorize them as being something that is overly negative.
you know, it was more just spooky and almost playful some of the things that I've experienced.
During this time, too, I was living in an apartment with my now husband that is 100% haunted.
And my husband is also skeptic and also doesn't believe in any of these things.
So I'm living in this apartment in this very historic town.
It's right, literally right in front of a graveyard.
And the graveyard has a history within the town.
And all these things are happening in the apartment.
And I am telling my husband, who, you know, is telling me, oh, there's an explanation, an explanation.
And although I am a believer and I have had these experiences, my first thought is not to go to something like a ghost.
I do try to think, okay, what could be the explanation here.
So I'm living in this apartment.
Things happen.
I'm not really believed my husband, which is okay.
And I go to California to see Eileen.
And now, Elaine and I, one of our dreams, one of our goals, was to participate in the Pride parade.
And her and her wife, at the time, her wife, they rode motorcycles.
so we were going to ride with the dykes on bikes.
I believe it's like a club where, you know,
lesbians ride motorcycles together.
Eileen and her ex, they're not affiliated with it,
but for the Pride parade,
they found out that they welcome anyone who wants to ride with them.
And we were so excited.
Eileen lived right outside of San Francisco,
and I would visit her frequently,
and I'm a teacher, so I had the summers off, and we decided this summer was the summer that we were
going to participate in the Pride Parade in San Francisco, and we were so excited. We had it planned for
months. I mean, this was a big event for us. I mean, we had costumes. It was all we talked about
for months. We were very excited. So I fly out to California, her and her partner at the time,
They lived right outside of San Francisco.
And we decided to get a hotel room because we wanted to make sure we were on time for the parade.
We didn't want anything to mess up this experience.
I drove their truck into the city and they were on their motorcycles.
And I had no idea where we were going.
I didn't book the hotel.
Had no idea about this place.
All I knew, it was close to where the parade starts.
and it is somewhere in, it's by the tenderloin.
The hotel from the outside, as I was waiting for them to check in,
and I believe that one of the reasons they picked this hotel is because it had an
underground parking garage, I think I'm right with this because they needed a place to store
their motorcycles or there was one nearby or something like that.
So I had to wait while they sorted all of that out.
And the hotel, I remember looking at it and thinking, oh, it looks old, but you know,
at San Francisco. A lot of the buildings are older. And I didn't have any, I don't have any feelings
about it either way. And we check in and one of the things that I did notice about the hotel right
away was it reminded me of a place that was once on the lower end of things. It looked more like a
motel that had been renovated to look cool and hip. And it was all interesting.
efficient. They encouraged everyone to be mindful of the water use. And the color scheme was green,
this like neon green. These are my first impressions of the hotel. I didn't get any weird feelings about it.
I didn't think about it either way. It was just a place to crash for the night. So we would be on time
for the parade. So the hotel room, when we, when we entered the suite, it was very unique. I remember
thinking that I had never seen a layout of a hotel suite like this. The room you walked in and it looked
like a regular hotel room. There was a bed, a TV, bedside tables and a little like plastic chair.
And then there was this hallway. It was towards the right of the room. And it was very narrow.
And it led, it was fairly long to the hallway. And it led to a bathroom. And it led to a bathroom.
And then it led to a second room.
That was where Eileen and Emily were going to stay.
So when I was in my side of the room, I couldn't see them and they couldn't see me.
So we dropped off our belongings and settled in and then we decided to go out to eat.
Now, we had already discussed how we were just going to go out to eat.
We weren't going to have any drinks.
We weren't going to do anything crazy.
We really wanted to be prepared for the parade.
was something that was very important to me and Ilean. And so we go out to dinner and we come back
and we watch a little bit of TV because the TV was only on my side of the suite and hung out for a
little bit and we went to bed. And Eileen and Emily, they went into their room and I got into my
bed. I probably read for a few minutes because that's what I always do and turned off the light.
Well, as I was falling asleep, and I think I was close to being asleep when I think back to it, something woke me up.
Now, I didn't see Eileen come down the hallway or past my bed.
I didn't see any of that.
So I open my eyes and I see by the door, I see Eileen's back towards me.
And I knew it was her.
This is someone I've known since, you know, we've.
were 10 years old, but it was her short blonde hair, her frame. I recognized the outfit she wore to
dinner and her purse. She had this brown leather purse for years. And that was how I knew she was
going out to have a cigarette when she had her purse. And I didn't think anything else. I even though it was
dark in the room, I knew it was her. I could tell. There must have been some sort of natural light
because I could see Eileen. And I didn't think anything of it. Eileen's a smoker. It's going to go out
and have a cigarette. Didn't think anything of it. And I closed my eyes and I try to go back to sleep.
Well, sometime later, I don't know a few minutes, 30 minutes. I don't think it was that much time
because I wasn't quite asleep yet, but I was getting there.
I was in that in-between state.
Something else, something I must have, something roused me.
And I, again, I opened my eyes, and Eileen was standing by the door.
Again, her back was towards me.
She's wearing the same outfit she wore at dinner, had her purse.
And I knew that enough time had passed for this to be, for her to be going out to having
another cigarette and I just kind of looked at her and I could feel myself getting slightly annoyed
because she had woken me up again or she had disturbed my my sleep the sleep I was trying to get
so close my eyes try to go back to sleep it happens again something wakes me up or something
rouses me and I opened my eyes and I and there is I lean and I popped up and I said in a hush whispered
because I was worried about her wife down the hall being, you know, waking up.
And I remember the hush whisper of my annoyance saying, you know, you've had enough cigarettes,
Eileen, basically is what I was saying.
And I told her to go back to her bed.
And you know what?
Now that I'm saying this, I do remember seeing her cross past my bed and go down the hall.
And I thought that was that.
and I go lay back down and at this point I'm awake.
And I'm also a little annoyed because this keeps happening.
So I'm laying there and my eyes are closed and I don't know.
I don't know if I sensed it.
I don't know if I heard something.
But I open my eyes and there is I lean again by the door.
Still dressed in her clothes that she wore to dinner.
still with her purse, looking just like her normal self.
And at this point, I am annoyed.
And I sit up and I say to her, go back to bed.
You keep waking me up.
You know, we have to get up super early.
And she turns and faces me.
And I do remember that I started to fuss at her again, but I stopped.
It was her face.
It was how she styled her hair.
It was her.
How I knew it wasn't her, I believe, was from the facial expression.
Even though it was her eyes and her nose and her mouth and it was in her clothes.
There was something different.
The facial expression, it was blank.
there was no life at all.
It was her eyes were open and it was staring at me.
It only took me a few,
a matter of seconds for me to realize.
And I know, and even as I'm saying it,
like, it wasn't even an conscious awareness
while it was happening.
I didn't stop and think,
well, of course that's Eileen.
Or, you know, you're crazy, Nicole.
that's that's Eileen.
I just knew on this instinctual level that that might look like her, but that was not her.
You know, when you've known someone for as long as Eileen and I have known each other,
you almost can sense them.
And I don't know if that is too crazy to say.
But, you know, you just know them on a different level.
You know, we all have those people in our lives that we can be blind.
folded and they come and stand next to us and we know who they are. So it was almost like I knew that
that wasn't her because of the energy wasn't the same. The vibe of her wasn't the same. And it was
almost like as soon as I realized that even though it was Eileen's face, the expression, it wasn't her
face. It wasn't her expressions. It chilled me to my core. And I looked at it and I just said,
you are not Eileen.
And I said that out loud.
And it was as soon as I said, you're not Eileen.
It was almost like the facade slipped away.
I mean, I didn't really give it much of a chance to change or whatever.
I just laid back down and closed my eyes.
And I was terrified.
And like I mentioned earlier, I'm not one to get spooked or skimed.
when something creepy happens.
I think it's kind of fun.
So, but this terrified me.
And I remember just laying back down, you know,
I'm telling myself just deep breath, pretend you're asleep.
And I closed my eyes.
There was no way I was going to be able to go to sleep
because I was truly scared.
And I don't know how long I laid there.
It felt like forever.
I remember just laying there completely stiff, almost chanting to myself.
Like it's going to be okay, going to be okay.
This can't hurt you.
Just trying to make myself feel better.
Well, at one point I opened my eyes.
And this is going to sound so bizarre.
But I didn't see a figure.
I didn't see a shape.
It was like a black,
mass or cloud. It was on the side of my bed. And I felt, and it was like once I realized that that's
what that was, I could feel it circling around. It was going to one side and then it would go to the
other one side. And I could feel it. I could feel its energy. It's, it was like a black mass.
It didn't have a shape. It didn't have a figure. It was just like a black cloud. And it almost was
animalistic. Like I remember thinking it was almost like the shadow of a of a dog or something.
And it was, because it didn't go over my bed. It was very much at level. And it kept going back and
forth, back and forth. And I'd open my eyes and I would still there and close them again and
tell myself that, you know, this is going to go away. This isn't going to hurt me. I'm terrified,
though still that it is.
I'm also annoyed
because I'm like,
this is going to mess up tomorrow.
And that's when it
grabbed my ankles,
pounced on my ankles.
And it felt cold.
And it was tangible.
It was physical.
I am not a religious person.
And this is kind of embarrassing
in some stupid,
way, but my, my, my, I didn't even think this. I did, I just did it. But the most force is I could say.
And when I mean force, I meant like using my own energy back. You know, I almost pushed it out.
I sat up and I yelled in the name of Jesus Christ, leave me alone. And it did. It let me go.
But it didn't go away.
It still was by my bed.
So what I did, and this was something when I was little, whenever me or my brother would have nightmares or whenever we would get scared, my mom would always say to envision ourselves wrapped in a white light, encased in a white light, almost like a bubble.
So that's what I did.
I laid there and I visualized that I was wrapped in this white bubble.
of protection. And I must have dozed off because I came to at some point and it was gone. I knew
it was gone. I didn't even have to open my eyes to know it was gone. I felt it. And I remember
thinking, oh, it's gone to mess with someone else who's staying in this weird hotel. And I did not
go back to sleep. I just wanted to get out of that hotel so desperately. And I was also
annoyed. I was also getting angry because I had, you know, been up most of the night when I was,
you know, had been so looking forward to to this next day. And I felt like it had kind of ruined it
a little bit because I knew I was going to be tired. I knew I was going to be anxious. I knew I was
going to be processing all of this throughout the day. And I was, I was annoyed by that. I felt like it had
taken a piece of that experience away from me. So I had decided while I laid there that I wasn't going
to mention this to anyone. I wasn't going to tell Eileen and her wife. That was because I knew they
wouldn't believe me. I knew that they would tell me that there was some logical explanation, that maybe
it was sleep paralysis, that I was having a nightmare.
And I didn't want to hear that because, who knows, maybe there is an explanation for it.
But at the time, it was so significant that I didn't want to hear what else it could have been.
Regardless of what it was, my fear I felt was very real.
So I remember I got up even before my alarm went off.
to start getting ready. We had these a whole outfit for the pride parade and another friend of
ours was going to be meeting us and started getting ready. And I was, I was so anxious.
I was so, I just wanted to leave. When I had also decided that I was going to tell my husband at
some point, but I thought, I'm not going to tell anyone today because again, like I mentioned
earlier, my husband is also a skeptic and I just didn't want to be told that there was some logical
explanation. So I wasn't going to say anything. I lean and Emily, they get up. I hear them get up in the next
room. And Eileen comes out. And she sits on the bed and I'm getting ready. I'm doing my makeup.
And she's all, you know, groggy and sleepy eyed from just waking up. And she goes,
what were you doing last night? And I just kind of looked at her.
I went, what do you mean?
She goes, why were you coming into our room?
And I couldn't believe it.
I just went, what are you talking about?
She goes, you kept coming into our room last night.
And I said, no, I wasn't.
She said, yes, you were.
And at one point, you started tickling my feet.
You were standing at the end of our bed and you started tickling my feet.
and it was like a bucket of ice just washed, just washed over me.
Because I think even though I was terrified and that the whole experience, it felt really real.
I saw it.
I felt it.
I think that there was still a part of me that was trying to look for an explanation.
and when she said that, I knew that there wasn't one.
And I just said, Eileen, that wasn't me.
And I then told her what happened.
And that was it.
That was it.
I don't think that we, I don't, you know, you'll have,
if you end up talking to Eileen, you'll have to ask her if what she believes.
because she's still a skeptic.
And she'll still say there was probably some explanation.
When it comes to these type of matters,
we just agree to disagree.
And this is the first time we've ever had like a shared experience.
So when we do talk about it,
you know, I'll tell her what happened.
And then she'll tell me, well, you know,
I saw you at the foot of the bed and you kept tickling my feet.
And I don't know how to explain that.
She is the type of person who,
she's not going to try to convince me that I'm wrong.
She's going to respect what I experienced.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that she is going to believe it either.
To her, there has to be some explanation for it all.
So it's one of those things.
You know, we've been friends for so long where it's fine.
It's fine if she doesn't believe, you know, it's okay if we don't have the same thoughts on it.
But she's always very respectful.
Like she was really down to talk to you guys.
And yeah, I don't know what she'll say now to you.
All right.
We'll be right back after this quick break.
Yeah, so I leave Wilson.
I used to work for myself for years and doing Connectwise Consulting.
It's a specific software that IT companies use.
Anyway, so when I moved up to San Francisco, where I moved to the Bay Area first.
So I was in like Fremont, I think, at this time.
I had moved to the city just yet.
I started riding a motorcycle and I was like in 2012 or maybe 2013 and so I used to ride dirt bikes and I got really into street bikes.
So I'm like, oh my God, I want to ride on Dykes on bikes. I don't know how much you know about pride.
But so dix on bikes on bikes always lead the parade, right? So I found out that I was like, oh, we could, you know, we could ride it and ask Nicole.
She's like, hell yeah. So we actually had a other friend with us, Caroline. And then my ex-wife was there.
me and my ex were going to be riding the bikes
and Nicole and Caroline were going to be on the back.
But we realized we had to be there really early
living in Fremont, that's like an hour drive
to San Francisco. So we got
a hotel and
we didn't know the city then because we didn't live in the city.
So I'm now living in the city, I was like, oh, that is.
My wife, Mariah, she
told her, I'm like, yeah, the hotel was on like
seventh and the mission. She's like, oh,
God, it's a bad area.
But we didn't know that.
We got like the family suite
something. I forget. It was like a suite with like two bedrooms and no doors. It was like a hallway.
So it was just me and Emily in one bed and then she was in the other quote unquote room.
It was like an old motel, I think, and they called it a hotel after they renovated it.
I think it was trying to be like it was like the first boutique green hotel or something in San Francisco or whatever.
It was called the Good Hotel. I think it's Hotel Garrett now. So they've actually changed it.
And I don't know what it was before. I was trying to look up the history.
history of it because I couldn't really find much.
Because usually now in San Francisco they give them like names like, oh, this building or that
it couldn't find that.
But it was the good hotel.
And now as of literally last year, I think it was November of 23, they re-renovated it
to Hotel Garrett.
It wasn't bad.
It was like just weird like cuckoo clocks in the lobby, like different time zones or
something.
And like I remember like a photo booth in there or something.
I think it's trying to be like green, you know.
So the beds were like this cork, I think, or something.
I just remember like these weird wooden headboards.
I think that were cork or something like that.
It was all right.
Like I said, we didn't know any better until we walked outside.
We're like, oh, this is the best area.
Is it?
Anyway, we got the hotel.
We kind of got sorted.
I probably went out to eat or something.
I don't know.
But after we ate, you know, we kind of retired to our own bedrooms.
There's no doors.
And I was in bed with my wife at the time, Emily.
and I fell asleep, but then I woke up because I felt somebody standing at the edge of the bed.
So I tend to be a very deep sleeper, at least at that time I was.
So what woke me up was the feeling of something in my room standing over my bed or standing at the foot of my bed,
which is weird because I'm such a deep sleeper, but I think when you have that presence,
you know, like your amygdala, right?
Like, was like, hey, there's something there, right?
Get to wake up.
You know, that feeling you get when somebody walked in the room, you know,
you could feel like there's something in the room.
I woke up because I felt somebody in the room, something at the, like, foot of my bed.
And then, you know, just knowing where I was.
And, you know, my mind, of course, just went to, it was Nicole.
Nicole was sleeping in the other room.
It was like separate about a hallway or something, like a little hallway.
It was a really weird place.
And what really woke me up was it started,
or something started gently tickling my feet that were poking out of the blankets.
So I started feeling fingers lightly tickling like the bottom of my feet.
Kind of like caressing, but like with one finger, two finger, three finger, right?
Like softly like doing that in a very weird motion.
And again, I was like, stop it.
What are you doing?
You know?
And it stopped.
And so again, I assumed it was Nicole, but I didn't find out it wasn't her until the morning.
Yeah, I thought it was really weird
It just not something she normally would do
But, you know, we both have a weird sense of humor sometimes
So it's like, okay, you know, maybe did you want something?
Did you need something?
You know, what were you trying to wake me up and not wake up Emily?
Like, you know, but yeah, she was just after that it was gone
And when I was like, stop it, what are you doing?
And, you know, leave me alone.
And then it stopped.
And I was like, oh, okay, you know.
She went back.
I figured she went back to bed.
And I thought I remember hearing her say something, like yelling or something.
But again, I was kind of half asleep, so I didn't really think much of it.
If I thought she was in trouble, I wouldn't have just light there.
I'll hold it that way.
But I think I heard her say something.
I was like, oh, you know, whatever.
Went back to sleep and then I got up.
And yeah, then when she came, like, we woke up in the morning.
I was like, why are you screw my feet?
Like, where are you doing my feet?
And she's like, that wasn't me.
And I was like, oh, come on.
And she's like, no, I mean, it wasn't me.
I didn't tickle your feet.
I wasn't standing over your bed.
I wasn't trying to get you up.
It was not me because I was like, I felt you.
She's like, it wasn't me.
And I know Nicole did want to go to too much detail because I'm more of a skeptic.
So I don't think she, you know, wanted to talk too much about it.
But I could tell it really, like, freaked her out.
And yeah, I just didn't, you know, I'd like, you know, what do you do?
Like, it was freaky for me, too.
But I guess at the time, I guess,
and I was kind of with somebody who was such a skeptic that I just,
you kind of just ride it off in your head, right?
But it is a little weird, like I will say, if I'm honest,
like that she had the same thing.
And yeah, like, why would she come and tickle my toes?
It's not something she ever did before.
You know, like, why would she do that?
But I guess I thought maybe I was just dreaming.
Luckily, it wasn't as like, I guess, menacing as it was for her.
Because she told me, like, when Emily was gone,
She told me, and I could tell it would really affect her, and so I felt bad.
Later, like, you know, it freaked me out, but I think I had stuff to do, so I, like, soldier on the day.
And then when I kind of got home later, that's what it kind of sunk in.
And if I'm honest, like, it freaked me the hell out.
I ride a motorcycle, and, like, somebody almost hit me, you know, it happens a lot.
I almost got hit really bad.
And so I was able to dodge it, whatever.
When I got to my destination, I was able to get off my bike.
and then a little bit later, like an hour later, I was like, holy shit, that, I almost died.
Like, that was crazy. I didn't have time to feel it at the time, but I was able to like,
oh, I felt it later. And that's kind of how it was. I was like, that was really weird. Actually,
that was really creepy because it wasn't her who was it? I grew up Catholic. So I guess that
kind of gets ingrained in you that like, there's no such thing in that kind of stuff or whatever,
right, even though you believe in saints and gods and whatever. But I used to think there's always, like,
explanation and I still, to a degree,
there's generally probably always an explanation for us,
not always, maybe 50% of the times up like that.
Yeah, I guess I never,
I didn't put a lot of stock into paranormal stuff like that.
And, and Nicole did.
You know, we were kind of a little opposites that way where she
lived in past lives or ghosts or, you know,
things like that.
A lot more open to it than I was, I guess.
I was always like, yeah, you know, it's not, you know,
it's not true.
Yeah, I guess after that I was like, well,
maybe it's kind of.
true possibly so I think afterwards I've sort of maybe helped me think that yeah maybe I wasn't
you know totally right maybe there is something to paranormal stuff because I can't explain that there's
no way to explain what happened at all it wasn't me it wasn't her and I'm more open to it I guess for sure
especially after that so I think I've already mentioned that it is not my first inclination it's
not my first go-to to think that when anything like this happens, that's, you know, something,
a negative entity or a demon, I have a hard time believing that just in general. But it felt
like it was there to scare me that that was its intention or to trick me. It felt like a trickster.
And, you know, I teach English in a high school and we talk about archetypes.
And when I talk about the trickster archetype, that's what it reminds me of.
Not necessarily, I'm not, I don't want to say it was evil, but it was definitely there to cause confusion and chaos and to disrupt and disruption.
And why?
I don't know.
but whatever it was, it didn't feel positive.
And I don't know if I can really articulate it beyond that,
except to say that I have had other paranormal experiences
where maybe it startles me, it spooks me,
but I don't feel threatened,
and I don't feel that it's trying to cause me any harm.
where I was living during this time, you know, I mentioned the cemetery that was behind our apartment.
And one of the things that happened was I got married. And after the day after our wedding,
my sister and I, we went, we had, I had all these flowers from the wedding. In this graveyard, it's pretty old.
Although it's still active, people still go and, you know, are buried there. But it's old.
we went and left these flowers, my wedding flowers on the graves.
We thought that would be a nice thing to do because some of them are really old and we thought,
let's go put the flowers on the grave.
And when we got back to the apartment, my sister and I were in the bedroom chatting
and my blow dryer came on in the bathroom.
And I thought, well, that's freaking weird.
And I turned it off and we're talking.
And next thing I know the television turns on.
I'm like, well, that's freaking weird.
You know, go and turn off the television and then a few minutes later, the doorbell rings and nobody's there.
And that was when I'd said to my sister, I just said, oh, they must be thanking us for putting the flowers on their graves.
So I guess my point is, is usually when something spooky happens, I'm not, I don't think it's a demon or something bad or terrible.
that's not my first thought.
This felt like it was definitely there to mess with me or whoever would have been in that room.
And maybe it did find a perfect victim because, you know, like I said earlier, I was raised in a way where we were encouraged to be open to, I don't want to say the paranormal because it was.
more spiritual in my household, but it was, there was definitely, you know, the belief that we need
to sage and we need to bless the house and we need to, you know, honor the people who came before
us. So I don't know if perhaps that was part of why it was so successful with me. I guess it does
make me wonder if there are things that aren't human, that, you know, that could be demonic.
I try to see things on a more spiritual level, but this, whatever it was, I don't think it was human,
or if it was human, it isn't anymore.
All right.
Thank you so much to Eileen and Nicole for telling their story.
I actually chatted with Eileen quite a bit after this interview, mainly trying to
figure out more information about this hotel and what was there before. She did her best to look
and really couldn't find too much. I decided to help and look into it a little bit, and I was able
to find out some. Not a lot. I learned that the hotel was previously an even worse hotel that had
been shut down and rebranded. In fact, I think this place has just been kind of rebranded over and over
throughout the years.
From the very few descriptions that I was able to find,
it seems like this place was not a great place to stay.
It was even worse.
Back then, probably not the type of place
you would actually want to stay while on vacation.
And I was able to trace this place back to the 1940s.
Back then, it was called Hotel Gordon.
And back in the 40s,
it seemed to be more of a place
where people would kind of live permanently, paying weekly rent.
There were a couple articles about this place.
I saw one article mentioning a clairvoyant that lived in this hotel
that was connected in some way to the death of a woman.
I thought that was interesting.
There wasn't a ton of information about this place.
Certainly no smoking gun to explain
what could have happened to Nicole and Eileen.
You know, it's fun to try to look at.
into the history of places like this
to try to find some kind of
explanation. The truth is
there's a reason these things
are mysterious. You're never really
going to find an exact answer.
