Here's our main man, Carlo Coliacavo, joining us here on overdrive.
There he is.
Whoa, look at that shirt.
I love that sweater, but where'd you find that one?
Okay.
Had to be.
This is what I got for witnessing Mr.
64 with the hat tip.
Potentially 60.
Congratulations.
So I figured I was coming on.
You know, the face off.
It was partner golf.
Oh, Doug.
Can you please talk to these guys?
I've got better news for you.
Wow.
I went back and I reviewed the scorecard.
Now I sent the picture to Doogie, and from my knowledge, if Doogie can pull this up,
we played a par 72.
Not a par 70.
Because if you remember, no no no no no no no, it is good news, it is good news.
You know why it's good news? No no no no no no no, no, no, no, it is good news. It is good. It is good No, I don't like you should not have done. No, no, no, no, no, no, no hear me out. Oh dog. Hear me out
Because on the scorecard on the GG ID
They had if you look at it. It says we played from the white tees
We play from the black tees, buddy
Black tees are a par 72 and they recorded three of your holes wrong
You see the eagle you got on 15 where you tried to drive the green
That was a birdie
You see 13 when they had us playing it as a par 4
That was a par 5
and you see number 7
five and you see number seven where hold on a second hold on a second remember number seven I almost hold it I almost got a hole in one yes here we go
three of us birdied that hole including you and on this scorecard on this scorecard
they say you got a double bogey you didn't have a double bogey that round no
I did not I did not have that
by anyway what are you getting at way to have a new all dot you do you have
nine birdies off and one bogey
okay so if we were a par seventy two that sixty four
if we were a par seventy
do the math buddy
still put them amount of numbers.
I don't, I really think you guys are confusing this.
Like the community is trying to figure out.
Okay, Haze, Haze.
I heard your first segment.
We were keeping score of Lawton and Lorenz's score, and Lawrence and Lawton were keeping
our score, and then there was a young woman that was following us around with an official scorecard. Right. And at the end
of each hole each guy was saying what they got so she had to input all the
all the scores on it so clearly she got O-Dogs wrong. Oh of course she did okay
here's here's let me set the record straight right now i don't deserve this man no no no no no no no no help you out here because on the scorecard it says you got an eagle.
It's a wrong score.
That means you got a birdie.
And it says you had a double bogey in this round.
You didn't have a double bogey.
I witnessed the golf round of my life.
Trust me, guys.
I'm not disputing that.
This is Mr. 64.
Okay.
Or it's Mr. 62.
But here's, no, dude, you can't have different numbers based on what the par is.
It doesn't matter if it's a par 54.
Yeah, it does because it depends, it depends on what T-blocks you play from.
We play from the blacks.
Which ones do you play for?
It's not a video game that you guys, you played them.
Just look at the scorecard.
I submitted the scorecard.
Look at where it says the pars are.
Whatever the pars are make no difference.
You struck the ball a certain amount of times
Whether you're playing a par 50 or a par 72
It doesn't matter. Hey, championship tees
Championship tees says it's par 70. I understand that. We play from the black tees, which means it's a par 72
Okay, O-Dog had nine birdies and one bogey
it's a par 72. Okay.
Odog had nine birdies and one bogey.
Okay, then there you go.
So he's 64.
That would be a 64.
Here's what-
Yes!
But what are all those numbers add up to minus the X though?
That's the X, I don't understand.
There should be a number there.
It was no number.
And that's where you can go, just put me down for whatever.
Yes.
Correct?
Again, just like the other mistakes on the scorecard
with the double bogey and i was all state it was a mistake because we all
walked off the first t
because we spent five minutes looking for scott lot in fall the confine by the
green
and she must have missed her the wrong person say the number okay so we we've
got miss remembering around first half half all dot i got your back buddy i i i did this or not i'm not kidding around i
don't i don't even care anymore now you should have a look at it here's what i
got out of the city is that everyone is a little bit of a minute
because here's the reality
notice you wouldn't necessarily understand this don't know if you're
that's a serious golfer
knows exactly what they shot every single
you know what they shot every single hole. You know what you shot. Not
I know what O-Dog shot because I was mesmerized by his round.
Because you're fishing half the time and you're doing your own thing.
O knows what he shot and he can recite.
64. Okay then he shot a 64.
That's what it was then. But you know know all as much as i would know i could recite
every shot based on memory what i'd just played
if it's a career i could say off
off one i sprayed it over here
that i chopped it out by two-parted park
every golfer knows what they shot and how they play
all knows always the final word
you tell us.
64?
It's a 64 for life.
Guys I'm not even kidding around.
It could be 75 now.
I really don't care.
No, stop it.
O dog?
O dog, stop.
All I know, this is what I know.
It's all on video.
It's all on video.
You shot 64.
CORE, Hayes, all I know is the very first hole I played was the 16th hole.
I three-putted for Bowie.
That's the only blemish I had on the card.
Everything else was a par or a birdie and a lot of birdies.
That's all I know.
So Hayes.
I finished with three birdies and Scott Lies Scott Lawton shook my hand he goes buddy
You just shot 64 and I said
Okay, that's incredible, and that's what it was yeah, that's what it was and that's amazing and that's honestly you want to hear the funniest
Story about the Stanley Cup finals hold on hold on I want to put a bow on this
At the end of the route when Scott Lawton came to the cart and said oh, Doug
At the end of the route when Scott Lawton came to the cart and said, Oh, Doug, you shot 64. That is insane.
I looked at old and I'm like, dude, are you that's insane?
I've never seen a round of golf like this in my life.
And I didn't want to say anything during the round because this guy was just on fire.
Hey, I've never yelled bang so many times on the golf course.
OK, all right.
As we're driving off, he turns to me and he goes you know what I don't even feel
like I played good today I'm like hey oh last time I played with you you're using a different putter is this a you skin a new putter he goes first time today
Pulls out a new putter the zero torque spider from tailor-made and rolls in a 60 it was
Case dismissed this guy was I love it
Clinical I love it a lot of leafs were there I noticed how about Willie and his brother winning the thing dude
I'm not kidding you William Nylander and his brother showed up
55 seconds before tee off. Yeah, they had slippers on and
It looked I'm didn't hit a ball and they won the thing. Yeah, like they that's what they did
They won the thing hey on the playoff hole
They were sharing the same wedge. Yeah, it was like they had seven clubs between the two of them
All right, well that I need to be reviewed I get the impression like some people need to review that anyway
All right, Carla. Where are we out here with the cup final?
Where where where does your head go first when you consider were back where we started this time last year Edmonton, Florida
You know looking at this series and looking at the playoffs as a whole is
There a better home ice advantage than what Edmonton has right now
The wind their wind total would suggest that the answer is quite obvious
I'm just they don't just just But just the atmosphere that's in that building,
playoff time.
And I think the difference this year in this series
for the Edmonton Oilers is that they're starting at home.
Because last year, they got off to a rough start,
didn't play their best in the first two games in Florida.
And even sometimes in this year's playoffs,
when they didn't play their best at home They found a way to win because that crowd man
That crowd is is literally an extra man on the ice
And I think this year like I went into the playoffs and I said LA was gonna steamroll over them
Then in the next round I said Edmonton was gonna lose to Vegas then in the next round
I said Edmonton was gonna lose a little sad i've been wrong about it in
this whole playoffs well
okay then let me ask you this something to try brought to you by boston pizza
canada's favorite sports for this playoff season boston pizza is planning
the parade and has a new all-star play of many of you to enjoy
for pizza pints and fuck jobs visit your local boston pizza today
who do you think is going to work
edmonton
or for i think that minton's a team of destiny this year and really the way the Boston Pizza today, who do you think is going to win? Edmonton or Florida?
I think Edmonton is the team of destiny this year, man.
Really?
The question I just asked myself is, I've heard a lot of people
try to predict this series, and everyone's
saying it's going to seven.
In game seven, the game's in Edmonton.
Mm-hm.
I think that's very significant, and I agree with you.
They lost game seven on the road.
I'm the only one that doesn't think it's going to go seven.
Everyone's like, oh, it's just got to go seven games.
Doesn't have to.
I don't think so.
No, it doesn't.
It doesn't have to.
I just feel like they are pretty evenly matched.
And I don't know.
I'm more worried that both these teams are playing Unreal and it's not going to be like
knock them, drag them out hockey.
Like they might be two one games
like that game seven was methodical, right?
Like it might be, we might be looking at that.
Now you're gonna have a blowout here or there.
I just think that.
And that gets us to Skinner for me, Jamie,
because he got it to game seven last year.
And guess what was the Stanley Cup winning goal?
It was kind of a flutter wrist Sam Reinhardt so that's yeah so it's almost like he
could have solid performances but if he has little blips and games like that it
could be so costly like he's just he's got to be dialed in because you know the
other guy at the end if he can lock it down four times it's pretty tough man and
think of all the energy that Edmonton had to use to come back into
that series. Like if you go back and watch game one and two it didn't look like they were in the
game at all and I just don't see that happening with this year's Edmonton team especially because
they're starting at home. Well the other thing that I pointed out when it comes to goal-tending
guys like Darcy Kemper was up for the Vezna, right?
He gave up five goals once this season against Edmonton. They got to him
It was five goals three games in a row. That was it curtains Aiden Hill stabilized down the stretch and
All of a sudden Keynes running them over Hyman all of like they get to Aiden Hill and he's off his game
And he's pissed off and fighting them and doing all that last last series Jake Ottinger
Statistically was the best goaltender. He had eight quality starts
He was he was dialed in goal saved the Bob X expectation all that
Edmonton found a way to get to him
That's the only thing that if Edmonton wins they'll find a way to get to Bobrowski because
Bobrowski is nails like he is and he gets stronger as the series goes on. But you know I gave the
advantage to Kemper, I gave the advantage to Hill and I gave the advantage to Oettinger and when it
came to goaltending head to head and all three of those guys are going to be watching the games from
home. What's your mini Jerry's we see Calvin Pickard in the cup final?
I think you'll see him.
He might be mop up.
What?
Yeah, I don't know man.
I honestly think that that is out of the question and you can't see him.
Like if you see him you got problems.
But they wouldn't be where they are without him.
I get it.
He was a fabulous, like he was a major reason.
He was Scott Darling.
Or not Scott Darling.
Is it Scott Darling?
Yeah, Scott Darling.
He went in there and won the series in Nashville against Nashville.
Corey Crawford got the job done after that, but you don't want to be seeing him anymore well and group you're right group our group our started the playoffs for the
washington capitals here they want
hope became it
it was group our that that
uh... they went to to start out by differences skinner started here
got hold because he was horrendous
and then pickered went in
record doesn't get injured I think he's playing
game one. Like that's something we'll never know.
But if like Pickard.
Game one of the last series or this one?
No I'm saying Pickard got Wally pipped. Dude like Skinner was never going in for Pickard.
He never lost. You know what we're saying they play better in front of them. They have more
confidence in Pickard.
The reason.
It's fancy how that situation broke down.
Skinner went in because Pickard got injured not because he played poorly
like we could legitimately be in a different universe here where
Pickard is like worth worth the mini-jerry's the other way man. If you see Skinner, you're toast
Pickard's a guy but he got hurt and to credit to the credit of Skinner
He went in played very well in that second round and then was unbelievable against Dallas and now it's completely flipped.
You know it's completely flipped but I agree with oh I think if Pickard's in the conversation
that is.
They're in trouble.
That's that is a disaster for Edmonton.
A disaster.
Yeah.
Because it's never going to go the other who is it Alex Lyon and who's even the backup
I don't even know who.
No Vanecek.
Vanecek.
Vanecek exactly it doesn't even matter it's the most of its you know it's paid manning's
backup it doesn't matter because i could apply
bob is the one point
but uh... if pickered is in the conversation that's trouble but i i
don't you know i'm not i hope that's not the case
uh...
and and you just you hope in a weird way goalies
it's never gonna play out this way but they're kinda like the like the refs where it's just, you don't notice them.
They both play well.
They just do their thing.
Let this be the McDavid Dry Cytle show.
That's what I'd love to see.
Edmonton wins because McDavid and Dry Cytle in the biggest moments just refuse to lose.
Yeah, they do.
And it's going to be fascinating because everyone's like Florida's locked down.
They shut it down on their own zone they force dumps. I'm
sure all the other three teams that Edmonton destroyed were trying to say
don't let these guys have the puck don't let them do this and that and they just
force the issue and they they make you adjust because they're not they're not
accepting all they're tough in their own zone all they're big and strong all
their physical they don't care man they just they're shoving, oh, they're tough in their own zone, oh, they're big and strong, oh, they're physical.
They don't care, man.
They're just shoving it at you, and you've got to react to it.
And against Dallas, McDavid scored that dagger goal.
That was a ridiculous goal, the timing of it, everything.
Man, that was a goal.
That was like his statement goal.
That was such a goal.
That was Mario in Minnesota.
That's what it felt like man the stop back like yeah
Audinger or that was the Smith I guess yeah, it's that yeah in the corner man. That was an unbelievable play
But but you look at it throughout that series they were getting I mean, it's Corey Perry. It was Hyman
It was Kane like they were getting you know getting it's the janitor there, 13, Yanmark.
Yeah, he scored a goal that night.
Yeah, like just guys like that.
It could be just as simple as 29 and 97 say not on our watch, but they're going to need
depth.
Connor Brown will be back, right?
You're going to need guys like that.
Yeah, Brown's playing game one.
Right, so you're going to need these guys because on the other side, we just witnessed
it with Florida that third line
Was as good at any line against the Toronto Maple Leafs that that Marchand, you know that Marchand line was
unbelievable and
Edmonton has to have an answer for that Edmonton has to have an answer for you know, whatever
Florida can throw at them while Murray said, you we uh... everybody knows we're good defensively he goes we got better
offensively
and any goes i think
we all know the ebbington oilers are good offensively but they got better
defensively
so they almost like
both teams got better at at their deficiencies so it'd be interesting to
see how the sun holds i almost found it just as fascinating to hear drysidles
comments when he was asked about
the series this year compared to last year and he said, it feels like last year we were
just emotionally drained coming out of the Vancouver series.
Going to game seven, two Canadian markets going at it and then having to step into Dallas
and go six games, it feels like they haven't invested that much emotionally getting to this point
this year than they did last year which
Could give them a little bit more of a boost to knowing that
You know they were there last year. They tasted it now. They're back this year and and the rules are reversed
They've got home ice to start. Yeah. Yeah the maturity of their group man
I mean they are the oldest team in the league, but
Dry saddle McDavid the way they're approaching this it does it does feel different
It does look different, but you still got to go out there and play got to go through and do it
With Carlo Coli Acrovo first up so we got a month until we have answers on
Basically what the Leafs are going to do this off season.
By July 2nd they'll have made trades, likely made signings.
If you were to jump in your time machine and wake up a month today, what do you hope has
happened for the Maple Leafs?
What I hope happens is that there's change to this group. It's hard for me to commit to that hope because I'm in the
I'll believe it until I see it boat.
And I know there's a lot of talk about Mitch Marner
and if I had to guess today, my guess is that
he's made up his mind that he's probably thinking about playing somewhere else.
But there's so much
that can change within a month that what if the Leafs...
Coco, even if he was, like even if he's called and said, you know what, I'm going to come
back and be a Leaf, what does that mean for the comments that were made by the GM?
We need to change the DNA of this team and then all of a sudden we're coming back, we're
running it back?
That just wouldn't make sense, sorry.
Yeah, I don't know, I said this on my show this morning
and I think it's also fascinating that there's a shift
in ownership happening here with the Toronto Maple Leafs
where Edward Rogers is coming in and inheriting
a majority share of this team and I just look at the way the Jays handle the whole Vladdy situation where when Vladdy
didn't sign an opening day of camp, everyone's like, oh, he's gone.
He's gone.
And then within a month, they throw him half a billion dollars because ownership stepped
in and said, sign this guy.
And you just wonder if that same
Position could be taken here with Marner where it's like you know If you've got 12 different 12 different people at a table trying to figure that out that same same idea is not happening
Yeah, not to mention. I I just think I don't know if one should have an effect on each other
But if they somehow do something with Marner, then maybe it's Tavares that they go just can't you know I just what if they trade one of the
other two or three they keep Marner and they look at a trade at the other three
they're not talking about like this is ridiculous they're not trading Matthews
and Nylander I just can't see it man I mean Matthews they're not moving off and
Nylander is a year into an eight-year full-none move. Willie's not going anywhere. Like I just don't think Willie would wait. I don't
like it and they've never shown at any point a scenario where they felt like
they would make things uncomfortable or they would try to do that. You know what
another reality possible reality is is that Marner gets the free agency or his
group starts sniffing around what's out there and it's
not what he thinks is out there. And you know, I think we keep looking at it through, and again,
this is up to the Maple Leafs too, though. Both sides will have a say in this, but we keep looking
at it through Marner's lens of, well, the market and he wants a change, and that all may be true.
And maybe that's already been determined like you said and
If it is then it doesn't matter what's out there. He's going and he's gonna go find it. They'll make it work
But it also could be about getting the most money period and there's a chance he gets out there and the rest of the league goes
I'm not paying you a penny more than ranted it makes like you have 12
But that's it and the the Leafs, maybe they offered
him 13. And maybe he snaps back and goes, wait a minute, the Leafs, I can make the most
money. I'm going to make the most money if they want me, if they still want me at the
reported price tag that they were kicking around during the season.
Just as I mentioned, Hayes, are you really after those comments going to circle back
and say, ah, let's just run it back?
I don't think so, but I don't know.
I mean, when Tree Living was kind of pushed on what that DNA change means, he just kind
of filibustered and, ah, that's a good question.
You know, he didn't answer that.
No, I know, but it makes it uncomfortable, or it would at training camp.
If Tavares comes back at some kind of value deal and Mitch circles back and then it's
like, what do you...
Well, then there is no DNA change, clearly. Yes, I agree with you and I think tree-living kind of
showed his hand there I would think but let me out I guess the question is if
just one of them goes is that enough for him to be able to say I I changed the
DNA I said I was going to and I did it. You think it's got to be both?
I well that's that's the opportunity that presents itself.
That's the only opportunity that presents itself.
I mean I also think that they've, you've got to deal with the Marner and Tavara situation
but you know I think they're looking around the league too and you're trying to upgrade
your team everywhere.
Like I don't, again Morganilly has a no no move but if
you're looking at both these teams that are in the finals and saying you know
what is the common denominator that you know that yes there's depth up front on
both sides all of that star power but their D are active and they move the puck
again that's that's something that you know they the Leafs don't have an elite
puck mover you know and and you could argue that yes that's something that, you know, the Leafs don't have an elite puck mover, you
know, and you could argue that.
Yes, that's a totally separate part of the deal, though.
Like I hear what you're saying.
But I'm talking DNA.
I'm talking DNA.
That's who you're just...
Okay, I get it.
But if Marner and Tavares are here and two puck-moving defensemen are here, is that a
DNA change?
I guess that's what I'm asking you.
Does that count?
It's a good question.
Marner and Tavares are back, but two puck moving defensemen are here too. Is that the DNA change
that he's talking about? Yeah, I mean. No, no. No, because the DNA talks about guys that
have been here for loss after loss after loss, not just two new guys that haven't seen it
before. Sorry. Yeah, I guess we'll find out about a month.
Lots of speculation.
Lots of speculation.
Should be a fun month.
Should be a fun month.
All right, RBC Canadian Open, how's the setup at the rink hole?
Get us a prep for Wednesday.
Well, the setup is, you guys are going to see, it's awesome because we're there, but
you remember in previous years, like the background, you'd actually see the green on the par 3
We have no view to the green there for and in this setup like you see the background the stand you see the t-box
You see the fans that are gonna be there
But we're kind of blocked off so but it's it's one of the easiest
You know commutes from the our parking to
The to the booth that we've had in every year.
It's literally two people to walk.
Well, we'll take that.
There you go.
But, it's, oh, you saw the hole, you know that tunnel that goes on, you saw our booth
up top there?
Yes.
When we drove by it?
I mean, it's, you'll see, it's unique.
Rave reviews.
Thank you for the rave
Of what we're about to look at no idea. It's no idea what we're walking into other than we've got it
It was freezing cold this morning. I don't look for you guys. It look it's gonna get hot man
It's gonna be hot tomorrow. Good bring on this beautiful summer weather that we're supposed to get going June already man
Let's go. All right, buddy 6 a.m. Tomorrow from the rink hole. We'll catch you there. Thank you for
doing this as always.
Alright boys. Mr. 64?
Yes, the lawyer himself.
