Crazy scenario in my eyes and noodles you can let me know what you think. The Rangers
have back to back tonight they got Philly and what a what a matchup combo in the booth. They've got
Because JD is going back in the booth
Yeah, I saw that Sam Rosen that is insane
But the Rangers are hanging by a thread. They're basically cooked and they're starting Jonathan quick tonight
Don't you got to go to Shusterkin and say, we gave you $11 million
a year, you can't give us a back to back with our life on the line?
Do you know how he's not finding that crazy?
I do.
I'm sorry, at this point?
It's all hands on deck.
It's Shusterkin, we can't take one chance and go in the net tonight because I know,
I can see, if Jonathan quick has a greasy one go in
early you're like what a scenario we've got here man that would be outrageous I don't
know the story like I don't know if if sister gets tired if there's something there but
I agree a hundred percent I say you're you're in the net until we're out I'm sorry like
we are like our best players have to be our best players.
And it might just be, you know, look, they look cooked anyways.
It might just be, hey, it's not our season.
It's been a disaster, right?
From day one, new coach, they'll have a new coach next year.
They might have a new manager.
Who knows what Dolan will end up doing.
Right.
But I think, I think you go down swinging.
You go to Shisterky, you go to Fox, you go to Zabaniad,
you go to Panarin, and you say, you guys
are playing 25 minutes, you're starting.
We need these games.
I'm sorry.
And he might have done that already.
He might have had 20 meltdowns this year.
But I agree with you.
I love Jonathan Quick.
You know he's one of my favorite all the time.
Me too. But it's like, you've got an $11 million with you. I love Jonathan Quick. You know he's one of my favorite all the time.
Me too. But it's like you've got an $11 million gold tender. You're in tonight and by the
way you're in tomorrow. Non-negotiable.
Yeah. You got it.
Yeah. That's a very good point, man. It might be the white flag.
Dude, I imagine you're hanging on for dear life and it's like, by the way we're starting
our backup goalie tonight. If I went to the rink and saw the backup goalie circled, I would write down to the coach's
office and say, what are we doing here?
We can't lose this game.
All hands on deck, best players available, what are we doing?
I find that to be shocking.
That's not like sports science guys going, you know, we noticed that his heart rate
was a little high or whatever they do.
I mean, there's lots of science involved in it.
But I'm joking and paraphrasing,
but I'm saying like, this has to be like a call out going,
you guys are playing, I'm playing you 25 minutes tonight,
you're starting, you're doing this.
And you better be good.
And another thing guys, and I think Hazy,
you brought it to my attention the other day
There is a little there's a guy in Montreal that you haven't heard a peep from all year
I think we talked to him at the President's Cup and it's Jeff Gordon and he just had to be removed from that situation
and yes, they did have a good year last year, but
He's probably saying I'm glad I'm not dealing with that man now. James Dolan, like Jeff Gordon and what he's done in Montreal has been nothing short of
heroic for him to step in there.
Like Demidov has arrived.
I'm curious to see what this kid does.
You never want to insert him to upset the Alpaca.
They've got something special because somebody will have to come out.
Get them an axe beside their name and let let him fly see what he's got but
you know it sounds like it I've watched YouTube clips of them so everybody's
got a highlight tape so you know I try and temper my expectations but it sounds
like you know by all accounts this kid is going to be a special player and a
top-tier player so jacked in Montreal man it should be they should be is right
they should be absolutely because this is a magical
season and this is the cherry on top demidoff coming over early and being a
part of this and yeah last night they were out shot 23 to 4 in the first
period and Montembeau stands on his head allows him to breathe they end up beat
Detroit for one and that's it they're in like it's not official yet but they're
effectively and they have a, a seven point buffer,
six or seven point buffer.
And now you've already got the rookie of the year,
like it's over.
I have to believe that.
I mean, I'd be shocked if anyone voted for-
Well, let me ask you this,
do you not agree that if there was a monthly trophy,
a monthly trophy for like, just the heart and everything Montreal might have a close to
a queen sweep with the coach Hudson their goaltender Nick Suzuki might be the heart
trophy for a month like they've been they got a lot of things that are going right for
them man.
Absolutely and then next year people in Montreal are already handicapping Demidov winning the
colder next year. You know Hudson thisapping Demidov winning the Calder next year.
You know, Hudson this year, Demidov next year.
You get excited about a lot of these things and that's fair, but let the guy settle in.
He's got to play first.
Let him get into the country first.
Yeah, exactly.
Here's Darren Drager, a TSN hockey insider.
It is award season though, you're right, in terms of not necessarily who's going to win,
but who's gonna be nominated
and i'm curious if you think
tracks will start with you marty saint louis could end up
you know as a as a nominee for coach of the year and uh... could travis green
now that all the was punched a ticket where do you stand on that
well i think those men have to be in the conversation don't they uh... you know i
mean you
you look at for me at least
anyway more Montreal than Ottawa. Ottawa made some changes and you know
Britain Traverson the coaching staff was a big part of that but I it felt like
you know given the experience of their younger core that the Ottawa Senators
were at least drifting towards being a playoff contending team. And they've exceeded that goal.
But they're also further ahead in my mind in the transition phrase than Montreal.
So why wouldn't Marty St. Louis be in that talk?
And I heard Ohl talk about all the other potential major awards.
You know what I mean?
If you had to vote today, you'd have to give strong consideration
because as much as Montreal has been planning
and hoping to get to this place,
honestly guys, at the start of the year,
I think that Ken Hughes and Jeff Gordon felt like,
all right, let's be a real strong competitive team.
If there's opportunity to add a piece here or there,
we're gonna do that, but let's make sure we nib, like let's make sure we at least nibble at a
playoff spot. And here they are, they've taken a bite, they've locked it down.
And how do you know what's going to happen in the playoffs? Right. So,
I mean, both those coaches, general managers, just the players,
both organizations deserve a ton of credit for where they're at and the fact is we know when you drop
Pockets and playoffs, how do you know what's gonna happen the first round? There's no way of gauging that possibility
Yeah, I mean Drex we had a little mini Jerry's there and
You know, we were Hayes
I can't remember what you ended up with a 28% on the the three Canadian teams getting past the first round.
He went to 40.
I went to 40.
I had four dollars to step up for the country and I said 48%.
I was 28 and O was a little lower.
But I mean, I just said give me a week and if it's a battle of Ontario then I'm on it,
but if not then I still think it'd be tough to get three through.
But where do you make of it? It's it's amazing and let's not forget
Calgary if Calgary wins tonight, and they're playing mini on Friday like they've got a chance to catch mini
Which would be a sixth team which would be insane like I don't know if they'll make it
But it's they're on that cusp as well
I mean, what do you make of you know a lot of these Canadian flavors, content going forward here, Drex?
Well, it's awesome, right?
Coast to coast, we have a lot to talk about, not just in the Toronto market, but again,
I'm going to repeat myself.
I felt like Ottawa was here.
I didn't take the step.
I didn't see Montreal being as bold as they've been, so kudos to them.
In Toronto, we're always sort of on the fence.
Can they get through the first round and all that? And you flip over to the west and Edmonton
is going through some turmoil now for the playoff march, but only because of injuries.
So they should be fine. Vancouver has been kicked in the shins a dozen different ways
this year yet. They continue to keep it somewhat interesting,
but Calgary for me is a bit of an outlier. Um,
because now I'm,
I'm eager to see what Calgary could do,
what Craig Conroy and that management group can do to bolster what they
have in that group. You know,
I think a lot of us thought going into the start of the season,
that maybe there was gonna be more of a tear down approach.
And that's hard to do when you've got Nazem Kotter,
you've got John Fugue Huberto,
and you've got some other pieces that you can see being,
you know, if not cornerstone,
just strong security experience pieces.
Those guys have come alive and they've kept
the interesting all year sure they've had sags with which kind of back them
out of the playoff conversation but here they are again so I I love the fact that
across the the seven Canadian teams there's intrigue in all seven markets
and I don't know that we've said that in a long time.
With Darren Drager, a TSN hockey insider, everyone's got a different opinion of how
important this game is for the Maple Leafs tonight in Tampa back to back after one performance
last night.
What is your stance on the importance of not only a win tonight but uh... a better
effort from the whole crew
well that's what it is bright it's better effort from the whole group like
we know that ronald have recent success against florida
uh... but they did not play like you already last night to the florida
panthers and
you know this there's something about florida
that you've gotten
fifty i a of of the players,
the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And you can see how that game was sort of unwinding, right?
And then they go into the third period and it's a 1-1 game and it's there for the taking.
And Toronto, for the most part, since mid-March has been really good, as Craig Borube has
reminded us, managing games and then finding a way,
if necessary in the third, and they didn't do that.
So I don't know if you can call it a one-off
because inevitably you're gonna have to face that team.
You know, you're gonna have to face that team.
There's some jockeying that's gonna happen
in the division, potentially in the Eastern Concords,
but you know, for the Maple Leafs to achieve their goals,
they're going to have to get through Florida. So now you kind of lay the egg that they did
you know last night and you're facing a Tampa Lightning team tonight that is really strong
and is headed in the opposite direction. So there's no doom and gloom required here. Like I still
feel strongly that the Maple beliefs are gonna win that division
that's not we're talking about but you hear Paul Maurice talk to Mark Masters prior to the game and
He's not worried about the fact that they've got leg, you know, they've got some nagging injuries
Hey, I did pieces bark up come back into the mix last night
But they're they're talking about the mental aspect and the game that
you have to play to get ready for the playoffs.
And that was their focus going into that game and they executed.
So let's see what Toronto's response is tonight against Tampa Bay.
Darren, what do you think's at stake for Mitch Marner heading into the playoffs?
Pretty crazy scene.
William Nylander got his deal I believe in
January of last year he might have signed his contract halfway through the
season somewhere around that might have been earlier this guy's contract did not
get done it did not get done before the deadline it's not done now what do you
think's at stake with the player if he's incredible in the playoffs do you think
it's like that's the guy we knew you could be and if he's awful it's like we
just can't buy into that any longer is that what well I, that's the guy we knew you could be, and if he's awful, it's like, we just can't buy into that any longer?
Is that what you're working at here?
I mean, that's, yeah, you've painted both pictures.
There's no doubt about that.
I think from a market perspective,
maybe it's easier on the Maple Leafs
if he doesn't have a real strong postseason.
And the only reason to believe
that he's not going to have that is because of other postseason but wire to wire in this regular season he's
been terrific he's been terrific and I think he is going to have a real good
playoff run and he certainly isn't going to be the reason that Toronto Maple Leafs
don't have the level of success that we feel like they need to have he's only
one player.
Everybody else can have to find their way.
And I understand that sounds cliche, but on the market, you know, Miner is going to get
paid.
So this isn't a financial thing.
It gets financial if Miner doesn't have the postseason that everybody hopes that he's
going to have, and it makes it easier then,
if he wants to go to July 1st,
which we believe he will,
for Toronto to push away and say,
okay, well, we're gonna invest that 13 and a half,
13.25, whatever that is somewhere else.
Makes it easier for the team.
But I don't know that Mitch is losing any sleep over it.
I think he has a high level of confidence in his own ability and execution and he thinks that this
postseason looming is going to be his best yet. With Darren Drager, Gabe
Landisgog was loaned to the American hockey league team on a conditioning
stint so does this guarantee he will play for the Avalanche this year? Where
do we stand on that? Yeah well Brian it's impossible to guarantee because this guy hasn't played
in three years right and everything that he's gone through man they just they
should get if he plays in the playoffs just give the Masterton trophy to
Gabe Lathauskog for the next couple of years because everything that he's
endured has been
really incredible. It's been crazy. And I don't think that many of us expected that he would ever get to this point.
You know, you think that a player on the contract, long-term contract, who's got that intestinal fortitude wants to continue to push, try,
you know, he stays around the club because he wants to be around the players,
he's got the medical treatment and facilities around the avalanche. Okay, a lot of it makes sense, but to get
to a place now which I didn't think he was going to get to, I mean the guy had like cartilage
transplant surgery, like talk about exploratory and just kind of out there sort of procedures
from a hockey perspective, that's out there.
And yet here he is, you know, he's going to the American hockey league on a conditioning stand.
And as Chris McFarland has acknowledged to the media, you know,
the expectation is that he'll be ready for the playoffs.
If not the start, then soon into the playoffs. And just,
I wonder about how impactful he can be physically, but just the emotion, the heart and soul storyline
behind it, I mean he's going to be a real nice security blanket or an emotional boost
for that team going into the playoffs.
Drex, the quiz last night, I was in between periods kind of watching it.
Can you walk me through some comments yeah i is
going well he and yet
the other there's very small now with a bit uncomfortable and i don't know why
and
i don't know if you guys have ever been in the city well i do it's overdrive she
been an awkward conversations where
your your only way out is just start laughing
because it's a bit weird, it's a bit awkward.
You know that, Brian, you know that.
So I can't quite recall the specific question,
but I think it was, you know, who has the better office?
You know, Wayne Gretzky's office behind that ad
or OV obviously top left circle.
And O was talking about the great one wayne gretsky we can appreciate that
but i think it's common something along the lines of our use to
oval
wager
now i said look at these defensemen just
ogling gretsky behind the net and i was like
yeah okay that's an ogling like what dot or and then i was like, ogling, like what on earth? And then I asked Draggs, Draggs
started pissing himself laughing and I told him, I said you have to stop it because I
don't think we can get through this if you keep laughing. And then I'm like what does
it mean? He goes well you're right, it's staring and I'm like okay good, but then he goes in
a sexual manner. Yeah, like creepily.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like a lecherous way.
I mean, nobody uses that word anymore because of its true definition.
Yes.
In the moment, you know, oh, sold it hard.
I just, so, and I'm nervously laughing because I'm pretty sure if you can be fed up on that
uh... it kind of means the context is a little bit off
her
right
or lindsey
who's the nicest woman we have at tf i'd just a terrific person
she's looking at me going all all
it's a little bit she's looking at me going, uh-oh. It's so good. So anyway, that's what we have.
Well, listen, I think it lands.
I think people understand what you're trying to drive out there.
It doesn't land, man.
It's just one of those things where you just make the sign of the cross and you're like...
We're done here.
No, just thank God it was only the word ogling that I came up with.
Because if I had...
Like sometimes you're just like, I don't know what i could have said
uh...
somehow
that's true
during the
sexual interest
very blunt
uh... right directs were good luck on the panels moving forward try to keep
your boy
that
all right all of them good night derek drager joining us here in the maple
toyota hotline uh... right brad faxing coming up from a gusto we got our picks coming up our Alright fellas, have a good night. Darren Drager joining us here on the Maple Toyota Hotline.
Alright, Brad Faxson coming up from Augusta.
We got our picks coming up, our best bets later in the hour.
But it is your final week to find Al's brother for the chance to win Leaf tickets.
Al's brother is at a new location each day this week and you need to find or you need
to name all four locations on Friday in order to win the tickets.
Are you guys ready for the third clue slash location of the week?
Hey Overdrive fans, it's Wednesday and I'm back with a new clue to help you get you one
step closer to finding out where Al's brother is and getting yourself those Leafs and Red
Wings tickets on April 17th, the season finale for the Buds.
Here is your clue
Yesterday I mentioned the place where oh and I had our big 40 meter dash
Today's spot features another form of a duel followed by a four course feast that you eat with your bare hands
Okay, I have no idea where that now I have no idea what he's doing or where he is or what he's talking about, but these are
big tickets.
So tune in tomorrow for another clue.
And the first caller through on Friday who can name all four locations wins a pair of
tickets again to see Leafs-Red Wings, the last game of the regular season.
Fine House Brother brought to you by McAlpine Ford in Aurora, our family, the Ford family,
and you.
All right. You know that one?
I don't know that one.
Dude, that's medieval times.
There's a duel and you eat with your hands.
Okay, and it's a four course meal?
Is that what it is every time?
I would guess that that would be medieval times.
Okay, yeah, I guess you're right.
I guess that would make sense.
I've never been to medieval times.
That might be also as bad as saying the word ogling like that might be just a
horrendous guess
yeah you could be honest i have i have no idea what he's talking about
uh... facts coming up our best bets coming up and our picks for the masters
coming up overdrive continues tsn 1050n on tsn2
alright our picks coming up courtesy of tailor made in just a few moments uh...
it's almost go time the masters kicking off tomorrow
we're watching the gulf channel today we saw that fax was a weatherman
today he was talking about
some trees down in the wind circulating through it and what like we gotta get
into it with them to see what he was talking about. All right let's bring him in from NBC,
the Gulf Channel, the Weather Network, Brad Fax. Is that accurate Fax? You're
running out the whole weather program today or what? You didn't know I was a
meteorologist did you? Oh I did not Fax. listen, there's a friend of mine who is a meteorologist in Rhode Island where I grew
up and there's an effect called the Venturi effect.
And when wind gets strong in an area and there's trees or buildings, the buildings and the
trees can push it in different directions.
That's the Venturi effect.
And with the storms that Augusta had earlier,
uh, in the fall and all these trees came down,
it was tragic for the city of Augusta, but more so for the golf course here and at Augusta national,
that there's 3000 and 4000 trees fell down and you know Amen
cornered this famous stretch of the 11th, 12th and 13th holes.
You can see now through these trees where you never could before so it might be for
these players a little bit easier to figure out the wind and the patterns or it could
be completely different and screw them all up and it's gonna be windy this week
Is that Venturi effect facts is that like for Kenny Venturi or is that another Venturi effect?
It's nothing to do with Ken Venturi
Sounds cool I just think it sounds cool. Okay. In fact, your time on the panel, how difficult is it for you because Rory comes up a lot.
How do you balance how he performs and the setbacks with also working with the guy?
I mean, at TPC you see yourself on the range and then you're on TV.
How is that balancing act?
Yeah, it's unusual for sure.
And you know, Rory being one of them,
I wouldn't say being one of them,
he's the most recognizable golfer now that Tiger's not playing.
He's the most popular golfer.
And I, you know, he's a player that everybody seems to be pulling for.
Not everybody loves him.
Some of the players are jealous of him.
Some of the fans don't like that he's maybe outspoken
about things, but I think everybody would empathize
towards him like being one of the best players
that you would think would be a guy
that should be winning the Masters.
He's had a major drought since 2014 and he's had
some near misses last year obviously at Pine Ridge at the US Open when Bryson DeChambeau
made that incredible up and down on 18 to beat him by a shot. He's had chances to win
majors since then. I think that there's resilience in all the great players because even Jack
Nicholas finished second in majors more than he won majors 18 to 19.
You have to be able to bounce back, Tiger bounced back, maybe not as much as other players
because he won so much.
But I'm thinking and you know around him so much that this is as comfortable as I've seen him
coming into here. You know it's always this burden because you go through the same questions year
in and year out but his game is solid. I think he knows that his life's not going to change for the
worse if he doesn't win this Masters. I think he's put it in more perspective now. And to win here at Augusta
National, I really think it's what you do on the greens. It's really more how far you
hit it and how good are you with your irons and can you avoid disaster.
Well that's a good question with Rory all the time.
Farther than anybody. Yeah.
And like Phil for years didn't have success at the British and he finally embraced it somehow
and he won a British Open. Like what would embracing Augusta mean for Rory or does it just
mean that he's got to let it fly and let it go and be the best player?
You know that's a good analogy with Phil and certainly the British Open for Mickelson
was something that you thought would be more unlikely that Phil wins with his style of
play.
He was a higher ball hitter, didn't seem to be able to move the ball down very much.
And I don't know, Rory looks like a guy that should be suited to an air to Gustav because
of a lot of the holes that turn to right to
left or he can draw the ball.
Yeah.
Um, and putting was always an issue.
I don't know.
How do you not an issue with worry?
He, he, that's great.
Uh, and this year he's won two courses that maybe wouldn't
suit his game.
You don't need to drive it a lot or very far at the players
championship. And he didn't hit a lot of fairways there. And then at Pebble beach,
you know, the, the short iron stuff, which he excelled in that week,
really won in that tournament on greens that were smaller with a,
you know, that were softer so he could spin the shots too much sometimes.
So he's won in unusual ways and he's used that phrase, I'm more of a complete golfer
than I've ever been.
And I believe it.
With Brad Faxon, live from Augusta, head of the Masters starting tomorrow.
History would suggest very difficult to go back to back. It's only happened three
times ever. Winning three times in four years has only happened once, Jack Nicklaus, back
I think in the 60s and 70s. With that in mind, can you make a case for why Scottie Scheffler
will win this week?
Will or won't?
Either way. Either way. Where do stand on scottie and his chances well he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he, he had surgery. He, um, didn't start off anywhere near, uh,
his level of play and he's gotten better. He's trending well, you know,
he won seven times last year, won a gold medal. Uh,
it's hard to believe that anybody can play better than that. Uh,
tiger like year and, but his,
his ball striking has gotten better. Um,
his putting is improving seem seemingly week to week. He's defending champion.
He's saying all the right things. Uh, I, I, I, you know,
and he's the overwhelming favor.
He's some people giving him odds like 30% of over the field.
It's, it's remarkable. Um,
and the guys that hit a great tee to green start off with an advantage. He's one of those guys that's got pinpoint accuracy and he can move the
ball in two different directions. So I don't know. I think there's guys that you might
not think of that have a good chance to win here. Canadian Cory Connors jumps to the top
of the list with a trend
he's going on, how good he's hitting his irons, I hit the plenty far enough, it's going to
be windy and Corey can keep the ball low and because of the range on Monday, the greens
are slightly slower and slightly softer.
Can you shoot 67 on Sunday though, Fax?
Yeah I know, you got to do it on Sunday, but he's gotten better with his putter.
He switched putters that center shaft and things been helping him.
And I think there's a guy named Sepp Straka that he's won a few times now.
He's got a beautiful swing and hits the ball well.
Yeah.
And then what we don't know is how are the live golfers going to play?
How's Bryson going to play? Maybe one of the most intriguing of the players that
certainly bombs it. One of the coolest things I'm sure you've seen on this
Masters app you can see how many balls every players hit in their practice days
and the patterns where they hit them. And Bryson's hit more
than anybody. He's longer than anybody. Kenny hit good iron shots. He's not a great chipper
and you got to be good chipping here on short grass. You're not chipping out a rough. And
that's, that's one of the key indicators. If you look at stats over 10 years, so it'll
be interesting to see how Bryson does
around the green when he misses him.
But, you know, Kapka, is he gonna be able to do it?
John Rahm, he looks like, John Rahm looks like a guy,
he's like a man on a mission.
He's, I think he misses playing the BGA Tour.
You know, he won just two years ago here and he played pretty
well last week at Doral. The live event was at Trump-Doral and he made, I think he made
a quadruple bogey on the 70th hole and he said the shot he hit in the water with an
iron was his best swing of the day. So I think that guy has something to prove.
So before we get you out of here, Fax, is that going to be Rory's approach?
Do you think it's going to be an aggressive approach? Like if it's about the driver, is
it just take that thing out as much as you can and like hit 356 yard draws all over that
place and see where it gets you? I wish it were that simple. If he hit a 350 yard draw down the middle of the fairway, it would be that simple.
The par fives are important this week, and it sounds so obvious.
But if you're going to win, you've got to capitalize on the par fives.
He's long enough to reach them all in the right conditions.
I just think tomorrow, one of the most important shots he's going to hit is that first tee shot. You know, think about it. He waits a year every year to hit
a tee shot off the first hole. His first round scoring average at Augusta National is not
good. So he, and he knows this stuff. You don't need people to remind him that he's
just got to, you know, stay in the right frame of mind, picture the shot you want to hit
and just continue to play one good shot in a row. If he can do that and stay away from the noise and he's pretty good at staying
away from the noise, I think we're going to see him with a big chance on Sunday.
Cannot wait for it. It's going to be great starting tomorrow. Great stuff as always on
the Golf Channel NBC. You'll be doing that all weekend. Enjoy it, Brad. We really appreciate
you finding some time for us.
It's good to talk to you guys as always I'm sitting here just outside we're live from
with Brando Rich and Paul McGinley is on right now we got some guys Graham DeLette and the
group from Canada is a couple doors down ESPN is a couple doors down and the sun is
starting to set. It is so perfect out here right now you would never want to
leave. Yeah we're jealous man believe me. We can only imagine what that looks like.
Enjoy it. Thanks Fax. Thanks you guys. Enjoy Beyond. There he is, Brad Fax. Setting the
scene for how beautiful it is down at Augusta right now
Yeah, Duffy and Graham to let and Bobby Weeks are probably playing cards having wine at the desk
Right. Oh, yeah the day they got a great setup man. I got a great setup that little media
Building gondola they have there with NBC ESPN TSN is in there
It's an incredible setup incredible and they also have like an animal house that they rent.
So it's like a circus there, isn't it?
Did you go into the media room, Hayes?
Yeah, I did.
Yeah, I went in to see them and did the whole tour there.
It's incredible.
The facilities, because you look back on the range,
the range is right behind them.
And the practice area is right behind them.
Like the short game areas in the background.
And it's incredible to see.'s a great great setup. It's right as you walk in to the grounds
You've been there like when you come through the gate and you're walking down that first kind of walkway. I guess it is they're right there
It's an incredible setup. It's an incredible setup

Anything's possible here.
Who knows? I got guys that I have a scouting list.
Oh, so do I. I have guys way down the list that will shock you when I put them out there into the universe.
Overdrive continues. We'll get to our Masters picks next.
Alright, Least Lightning coming up right here on TSM radio big big game tonight and
Get the jays in action down at Fenway. You've got the Raptors playing a chance for a
Three pack of wins which did happen a couple of weeks ago. Very rare were you know, all three
Toronto teams win and even play on the same night, but that's what we've got cooking tonight
You got Luca back in Dallas gonna be very very emotional
tonight so full breakdown tomorrow some mini Jerry's that will carry over to
tomorrow I think mini Jerry was a big hit I think a lot of people were excited about that
it did well absolutely but the overdrive PGA picks are brought to you by Taylor
Maid when you need more performance, and speed from your golf ball, it's time to switch.
Learn more about the all-new TP5 and TP5X at TaylorMadeGolf.ca.
All right, here come the picks. All right. Now we established last hour, a bit of a cop-out, but you wanted McElroy, right?
Oh, that's that's your guy. He's my pony this week.
Okay, that's your pony and He's my pony this week. That's your horse. Right.
Okay, that's your pony.
And naturally, I'll take Scheffler.
So, I don't know if we established who has the first pick though, because all we did
was establish who gets which two of those guys.
Here's the deal.
It should be my pick, because anyone would be taking Scottie first on this golf course.
It's the Tiger pick.
Okay.
All right, go ahead.
You can have the unofficial first pick those
two are banks
and then what we do need is a canadian at some point i know i know all the
player at some point
masters champion from
you know at least a decade old champion which means and you know i'll leave this
open to you like spieth one in
two thousand fifteen i don't think he can be included in this.
I think you need an old school guy beyond that.
I might shock you with my first pick after those two guys. It's Bryson.
You're taking Bryson.
Yep.
Wow.
Wow.
Listen, it's a very reasonable pick. The guy won the US Open last year. He's red hot all
the time. This course, man, it's caused him a lot of troubles over the years.
But I just think he's one of those mad scientists that's going to do everything in his power
to try to figure it out.
I think you're right.
I think he's been trying to do that.
The guy's on the range hitting 275 golf balls a day.
It's crazy how he operates.
A little bit much and heroic, quite frankly.
But okay, you're going to take Bryson. this is so much shocking I'm gonna stand the live
world you there's your live guy I'm taking wrong
I'm gonna take John Rom I think well
Rom was dreadful last year and I think he was embarrassed by leaving for live
and now I think a lot of that emotion has
has worn off I think this guy won here two years ago
and Scheffler is better than him. This guy won here two years ago
and Scheffler is better than him
but there was a point two years ago
where you thought I thought this guy's gonna run off
two, three, four green jackets
and I would not be surprised the way he plays golf.
I think he's motivated, I will take John Rahm.
So we've both taken a live pick,
those are out of the way, go ahead.
A guy that is not on form
but I think he's figured out major pressure. And I'm going
to take a bit of a gamble this early, but I'm going to take Xander Shofley.
I like it. I let you know I like Xander, man. Xander's my guy. He's got great work ethic
and he can stripe a golf ball, dude. And he was T5 last year, I think, T10.
Yeah. And he also won the British and he won the PGA. So the guy, he's and he was he was t5 last year I think t10 yeah and he also won
the British and he won the PGA so the guy he's figured out winning majors yeah
he has I'll go with a guy that is getting a lot of love based on his form
based on all the strokes gained data I'll take Colin Morikawa who I do think
should set up well to win here man like he was in the final group last year with Scotty.
He hasn't won no in like three years.
Like it's been a while since he actually won a tournament but I like that more cow is still
on the board.
I will take Colin more power.
Go ahead.
Oh dog doesn't bomb it hits a fade.
That's why I wouldn't have picked them but I like a guy that gets up there and swats
it and his name is Ludwig Oberg.
Okay, you're taking Ludwig.
Ludwig, Ludwig, all right.
Ludwig Oberg is an interesting pick
because he's not on form right now.
Like, what does your boy Jack Nicholas say?
You don't find your game at Augusta.
You bring it there.
You better bring it there.
He won in San Diego though.
He did, he won at won a Tory that is very true
All right. I'm gonna start going off the board here a little bit. I'm gonna take the Irishman Shane Lowry
Who's a good pick has won a major before?
Again a guy that's on form. He's playing very very well short game is dialed his putting is outstanding
Right. I want him on my team noodles. I'm gonna dial him in Shane Lowry
How many picks have we made?
I was gonna say how many picks for each that's for each. We've already taken four
Okay, cuz we need a Canadian and an old school here, too, right? Don't worry. We're just gonna keep rocking here
I got a lot of thoughts. I want to give you guys one at the end
Okay, all right each from my picks here and they're gonna be long shots and probably weird
I love I want to assign one of you guys each from what I'm looking at.
Okay.
All good.
Go ahead.
I'm embarrassed that this guy's been looked over.
His name is Brooks Koepka.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Brooks is a serious player, man.
He shows up.
He didn't have a great year last year, but that is somewhat embarrassing that he's still
on the board.
Yeah.
Okay, you know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to take a sneaky little pick here, a sneaky sneaky Russell Henley.
Oh my god.
Rusty Henley who has been winning a lot lately.
He was in Montreal, we saw him paired up with Scheffler man, President's Trophy.
He was a serious player in Montreal.
Russell Henley is my next pick go ahead
That is insane. No, I like a lot this week man a lot go ahead
I'm gonna go on Phil's advice
Joaquin Neiman Phil Phil Mickelson thinks is the best player in the world, which is ridiculous clearly
I'm gonna take a stab at Joaquin Nieman.
Okay, you're taking Joaquin.
I'm gonna take my boy, I met him at Oakdale,
I played with him at Oakdale,
I set him into a completely new stratosphere
when I almost chipped in at six at Oakdale.
Tommy?
Tommy Fleetwood.
Tommy Fleetwood is your guy?
Thomas Fleetwood is my guy.
I'm gonna take a guy, Hazy.
We talk about distance at Augusta National.
I know who you're taking here.
We saw a guy a few weeks back absolutely hit missiles and let him cook men-woody.
Yes, I like that pick.
I had him on my list here.
All right, so how many have we take it now? Is that it?
Like how about I take one more guy then we got to take a Canadian and yeah
Well, I'm taking Keegan so you can take two more guys. All right, I'm gonna take JT
It worries it concerns me his caddy pulled the shoe with a bad back. That's I would literally want to strangle my caddy
I would be so angry if he called me the weak of the masters and said i sneezed and i can't make it what what
love no that it's not all that every night and he's like i think my back with
your call in fluff then he should call it for a few right now is he should but
now he called in uh... actually max homer just
got rid of his cat ears caddy left on the now is on the back for j t
so i will take justin thomas and you know I have to take my boy, Bill Zalatoros.
Oh, well.
Bill Zalatoros.
Wow.
Yep.
There you go.
Okay, Canadian.
Canadian.
Hang on.
One more transaction.
One more transaction.
Seriously?
I want Wyndham Clark and you can have Decky?
Ooh, I'll take Decky. I'll take Decky.
I'm not going to give one. I want to throw this out here before the and before I take my picks for
you, but I have a buddy who's a golf insider and he sent me a note and he said, why is nobody taking
Bobby Mack? Oh, Bob McIntyre. I love Bob McIntyre.
Because he said top 10 lefties do well.
They're number 16 in the world.
Okay.
You know what?
I like the way you're thinking.
I'll take Bob McIntyre.
You take Akshay Bhatia, another young lefty who's on fire.
I love it.
Camp putt, but I love him.
You got Bhatia with his glasses and his long putter, and I'll take Bob McIntyre.
I like that, Noodle.
It's a great, great call.
All right. Go ahead. Oh, I'll give you the first Canadian. putter and i'll take bob macintyre i like that it was great great call uh... right
go ahead all give you the first canadian
i'm gonna take
i'm gonna take
do i take korey
korey's the play i mean he's that he's the chalk for when it comes to
canadians
you know i think the last couple years he struggled a bit at the masters but
he's still there's Taylor
Penn I'm gonna take pendroth. I'm gonna take that and give bomb a golf ball around man Yeah, I'm gonna take my chances with Taylor pendra. Okay, I'll take Connors
Which is crazy because Nick Taylor's the guy that wins like he wins big big tournaments
But he's missed the cut nine straight majors
Concerning concern is concerning and he doesn't hit the ball as far, you know
And at a place like Augusta you got to stripe the ball and Connors does it and Pendert doesn't all right
Old-school winners going back to 2014 or before that takes out Spieth that takes out Sergio Patrick Reed all the modern guys
You're on the clock who are you taking I
Mean, I know to take go ahead who
i'll take a chart
i'll take phil
okay i'll take charlie swartz all
and people are like this part of the fact that
charlie schwarzel and i'll tell them that goes to bed phil was a he was in
contention at the ralph actually i don't think i can take charlie swartz all is he
back far enough
uh... i don't know if he was here but i'll give them to take out of scott
better bob or something like that
uh... no charl yet charles twenty eleven you could take him
he's not a lot of take bob i'm not i'm not going to take charlie sports or
copy of a watson
right here to take bob i'll take phil
uh... articles the other guys who are to throw out these are long shots but
all you've got tom hogg
a title like tom hoagie like on the hot tom hogg tom hogg
i got a lot of take a hoggy and uh... haze you got chris kirk
okay i'm not a bad player turkey can play
i don't know turkey those i wanted to find long odds but guys who
still aren't i'll allow me to say i'll be works with my coach
all we can hold a rock man
okay i'll take her key you take a movie
uh... how about a lot of people who are not going to have a lot of our last
time
and i'm taking adam scott yes i was like
scott's clearly your play
uh... i wanted to take Aaron
Rye, Lucas Glover, there's a couple other guys I like there but JJ Spahn. Dude that
Aaron Rye man you can't take him because the pain of watching him is so
he's the slowest golfer on tour. I know but he's playing well
right now. Dude if him and that Harry Hall ever get paid paired together. It's lights out
Yeah, that's a seven-hour round red Ridley will will drag them off the course
