What's up?
What's going on?
How we feel in this afternoon?
You know how I'm feeling?
Jealous.
Uh-oh.
I am jealous.
of Lane Kiffin.
You know why?
Why?
Because Lane Kiffin
changed squads
and he got treated
like royalty.
Royalty.
Well...
They opened up the red carpet
on the tarmac,
private bird.
I change squads
and I tell you
and that other dope what to do
you don't listen
and all of a sudden
I'm the problem.
You guys have treated
me like garbage.
Oh, really?
So you wanted the Lane Kiffin treatment?
You are Lane Kiffin.
You sewered your team on the way out.
No.
Absolutely.
Suored everyone involved at Ole Miss.
No.
You're old miss.
You're a sore loser and you're disrespectful.
It's the playoffs.
We don't talk about college, especially American college football.
How about not letting him coach in the playoffs?
Why wouldn't you?
The guy's bailing.
Dude, why couldn't they just sign the deal and keep it quiet?
Because he's a weasel, Lane Kiffinffin.
You and the.
other dummy are you and lane kiffin are two peas in a pod two weasels they're in all right we have
we have we share greatness and we expect to be treated like that and him got treated like
royalty and i'd be treated like garbage by a parrot dole can i explain something to you yes i need
they air this is okay so al's brother and i were on one of the all time great gambling heaters
like whales from Singapore calling us all over the world people say we want to fly you in
give you the lane kiffin treatment and have you run our whole operation alice brother and i
had 2020 vision we were the ebbs and flows were immaculate like it was honestly like one of the
all-time great like figure skating duos you've ever seen like just it was perfect 10 out of 10
everything across the board then this guy shows up we are we are not even close
close. We haven't picked a winner. We're getting destroyed. This is Gretzky and Curry, and then Bill
Mickelson gets put on our line, and we're straddled, and we're a kid caved in, and we don't
know how to get ourselves out of it. So I guess, you know, welcome to the team. I don't know what
else to say, man. The whole five, the whole mojo is completely out of whack.
Read the text when I told you the 49ers. Read the text.
All right. Noodles, please address Bill McI.
for me i just see i as you know i'm i'm on the group chat yeah and i just have positive reinforcements
for my my partner i just say to them slow and steady you you see the comments that i have
don't get dragged down don't get dragged down and then i just see the updates it's like okay oh and
what's it what's it called noodle sin or whatever noodle son yeah yeah you guys are now plus 10 correct
i'm very scared the lead
is whittling away, and there is one common theme on both sides,
and that's the guy that started to do.
The common theme is Lane Kiffin.
And it is a wild story, man.
And he got, listen, LSU is a bigger program.
There's more money.
They paid him a fortune.
He brought his whole staff.
They sent a private bird for him.
But college football is just, it is a wild west.
Dude, did you see the people yelling and screaming telling him off?
at old miss when you got on the bird they they they I was afraid for the bird yes
honestly it was like trying to get out of like a you know war zone you know what I
mean like the last plane out of Saigon or something like get out of what was that
movie where the people were in like a foreign country and they had to go to the
embassy and sneak out and they said they were like doing a movie or something
yeah that was uh uh what's a J-Lo's ex-husband yeah Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck. It's a great movie that's what it was like
escaping yeah like it was bizarre people just so mad but it was so greasy and i understand you went
for the cake but it was so greasy just like he it wasn't even allowed to address the team it was
just bizarre well i'm not convinced that that's true like this lane kiffin sends out this
statement you know i was praying about it stop it dude yeah that prayer thing that was
you took the money yes and you're going to a bigger program after considerate prayer i wanted to
just punch him after reading that you pull the shoot and you left so that's why if i'm old miss
get out of here like if you're not committed why would you let him coach he's not committed
how about the message he said how about the message he sent to the assistant coaches he's like
if you're not on the bird you're not a part of the new staff see la and guess what apparently
they showed up because they were tips on that bird too like honestly it's just old miss
i'm rooting for them now i want to see him do great like that's that's a crazy crazy scene but um
Yeah, college football's all out of whack.
The NFL's crazy.
You know, you want a parody.
You got it this year.
Like, the Rams are a really good team.
Seattle's a good team.
But there's, I could think, I think I could run off 10 or 12 teams.
I could make a case for that could still win.
That's what makes it so hard to choose winners.
Yeah.
And, you know, because there's no consistency.
Usually, and Hayes, I always defer to you because you follow the league so, you know, so diligently.
but it's like you end up pretty much for the most part in football you can tell who's going to win it's more about the spread now you can't tell who's going to win on a nightly basis you're like okay that didn't that came out of nowhere and right that's the hardest part is you're not only not only dealing with the spread you're not sure that that team who is leading on the spread should win the game or could win the game that's the crazy part well and it's an evergreen topic in sports like is it a good thing or a bad thing that you know you could there's no dynasty you know the
the dynasties are kind of dying.
We'll see, maybe Kansas City can still get in.
Maybe Philly comes alive down the stretch.
There's still a lot of football left.
Maybe the bills after a big win yesterday, you know,
puff their chest out and get going.
Maybe Baltimore seizes the AFC North.
They get into the playoffs and they get comfortable.
But, you know, it opens up a window for, you know,
a FC championship game between Denver and Jacksonville.
Like I'd rather pass on that, you know, personally.
I don't need to see Bo Nix and Trevor.
Lawrence slinging around on the NFC side of things you know the same thing so um you know there's
it's always good you need a couple of like the deeply rooted established teams you know to still
have a real chance and they do but it just feels like the top teams have come back to the pack
as opposed to the opposite way you know as opposed to the bottom teams maybe catching up and
you got all these powerhouses just feels like everyone's kind of come back to the middle and
And that means if you're in a locker room throughout the NFL, again, any of these 10 or 12 teams,
you're probably telling yourself, let's get hot in December.
We can go to a Super Bowl.
Yep.
You know, like, let's get hot, and let's see where it takes us here.
So it's a real opportunity, and obviously someone is going to seize that moment, and we'll find out in a couple of months.
But we got a game tonight, Luke will be back on the shows.
He always is at 5 p.m.
Luke will be making a picture.
He's fired up.
I had a conversation with him today.
I'm sure he is.
fired up like he's feeling pretty good about himself and see you guys know the dynamic he's the
brains and i'm just trying to like calm the waters yeah Tony rob you is just that show him the
way well yeah just weight noodles when it when you're going to hit turbulence he'll just he will
well absolutely throw you in front of the bus he's a shirt it's just about support i don't know all
i'm witnessing is infighting on the other side and you guys are up by 10 we've been up 10 we've been
together for a week.
And he's chaos.
He's come in.
Absolutely chaos.
Just the bull in a China shop.
That's what it is.
The cars are falling.
There's been three games.
There's been three games for my new squad.
I gave them two winners that they ignored, and one was a joke.
So I don't know what else I can do.
Here's this guy.
He's doing his job.
What a team player.
That's literally, that's somebody who came to the band who was like, I had my guy.
That's a classic.
Like, no, no, no, that wasn't me.
That was those guys.
You guys chew on that minus.
I had my guy.
I had my guy in the neutral zone.
I logged eyes with that guy and said, you're mine.
It wasn't my fault.
Oh, man.
What a scene.
What a scene.
Well, I've got to be honest with it.
Today, there was like a malaise.
We're in December.
I was actually at a junior game last night, which was a great hockey game.
Yeah, it was a generals playing Brantford, right?
I wanted to go see Brantford.
Here's another thing.
Didn't you just call them the biggest wagon and hockey and they've lost twice?
You are literally the coldest human being on earth.
I'm Drake. I'm Drake, O'Dog.
I go near a team and they take it dump.
I go on the quiz and I'm like, biggest wagon and hockey is the Brantford Bulldogs.
My buddy, Gary Roberts, and what do they do?
They lose two out of it.
They hadn't lost the game in 20 games or something.
They lost Friday and Sunday.
They lost last night.
They lost two of three as soon as those words came.
out of my mouth you're a Drake
Drake oh neal
yeah it is
crazy man you have the magic
dude I can't touch a thing right now
yeah I know it's really really not good
don't talk about the leaves
I don't let them I don't want to
go on the panel tomorrow I don't because
every game I do they just get smoked
and it's just depressing and there's nothing
positive and sure enough
they smoke the penguins on
Saturday and I'm like
now they probably used all that up and they'll just
absolutely laid me an egg tomorrow night.
They better not. It's going to turn around.
Got it turn around.
Listen, they've picked up a couple wins recently, right, noodles?
Like two or three, they picked up points.
I kept saying, though, this is the thing.
This road trip was, it was six games.
And I know it was hard from these words to come out.
I was trying to, I said, 500 for that road trip is good.
What I'm witnessing throughout the league, yes, Colorado is a wagon.
Dallas, I watched them last night and did the game.
They are really good.
They're a really good team.
And they caught, I mean, Ottawa is game, whatever it is, game six or seven.
Out of gas.
So my point being, you can see it.
You can see it.
You can see the energy levels drop.
But what I'm saying is you got a team that the Leafs, like, if they go three and three in this six games,
I think that's what you need to expect.
And what you need to do is make up your hay when you get home and you get healthy.
type of stuff road games are really tough right now i don't know what it is um talking to some of
the guys last night just in the in the in the league and and stuff the the condensed schedule the
travel like it's a unique year again last year was unique but this is even more with the
olympics and these road trips are i i was talking to a guy yesterday he's like i i played 15 years in
league i've never seen road trips like this yeah like some road like some of the road trips you go
out to Nashville and you think you'd be continuing west and then you come back to Buffalo.
It's like, honestly, I was talking to Dallas coaching staff yesterday.
They've got three and four coming up, then come home, and then three and four again.
There's no practice time.
Literally, like, what they're trying to do is rest their players.
Dallas showed up yesterday.
They didn't skate Saturday, and they flew back on Friday.
So they hadn't skated all of Saturday, and yesterday was a five o'clock game, so they didn't have a morning skate.
It's put their gear on and went and played.
And then today they were getting up and flying east, like that type of stuff.
So there's no practice time for a lot of these teams.
So what you're hoping are, and I'll bring it back to Toronto, is your top players get the confidence and they get the energy.
It's like they're the ones who are going to drag you in and out of these types of.
They're going to goleys, right?
Right.
And the goalies.
I mean, Pittsburgh's goalies were.
Mess.
But, like, Hilderby played great.
I thought he was outstanding.
He was really good.
great saves when he needed to be.
And even the Friday game, like I was disappointed because I thought that was,
those are games where you at least got to get a point.
Yeah, you're up to 2-0 in the second period.
You have to get a point.
You could feel it, though.
Like Washington's on one right now.
They're really starting to hum.
And you look at the east, you know, again, subject to change because it has.
You go back two weeks ago, it was very different.
Maybe it will be different two weeks from now.
You've been calling it, like Tampa is red-hot.
They look phenomenal right now.
And you got Carolina, Jersey, Washington.
And then everyone else is just trying to, like, survive and breathe.
You know, like you look at the Leafs Division.
Tampa, I think, is goal differential.
Tampa is plus 19.
Everyone else in the division is minus.
Yeah.
Every single team is a minus differential.
The team with the most, you know, the worst goal differential is Detroit.
Yeah.
Minus 12.
The Sabres minus 10.
The Leafs minus.
Colorado is?
Well, it's
plus a hundred.
51, plus 51.
Plus 48 now.
Plus 48 now.
Plus 48.
I just looking at it.
Plus 48, Dallas, plus 22.
Yeah.
But, yeah, it's, again, Washington plus 19.
They're starting to cook.
But it's, um, yeah, you're right.
There's just a lot of teams just trying to breathe.
I think that's the point you're making noodles.
It's like breathe and stay alive and stay in it.
It's not even, it's somebody, I think we talked about it last week, too.
it's not even wins and losses it's points give me points like you got to get like nightly i need a
point and we'll go for the extra like that type of stuff and it's it's that we need to collect a bunch of
points here because at the end it might be erased of 95 like that's that's what you're looking at
92 to 95 and there's going to be a bunch of teams in that mix and you know health is going to dictate it's
strength of schedule luck your star players goal tending what you're
mentioned like all these different things like i watched that i that washington game yeah
washington started to hum but like ovi looked he's got 12 goals i said i text oh i was joking
i'm like he looks like al's brother out there so he's just cruising around at times like like just
they had them out there with the empty net i'm like they are taking a chance trying to get him to
a thousand goals yeah like it was but you know good on them but you know saturday night i i thought
the Leafs, they needed
one of those nights where it was everybody
got involved.
And it's a guarantee after 40, you're like
the game's over. That's a win. You've got
yourself a win. That's like the first
time it's happened all year.
Everything has been a struggle.
But the question is, what is it,
Brian? Is it
like, is the positive game where you
blow a team out? Is that the one-off?
Or is it actually something
to build on? It's going to
be interested. I don't care who's out for
Florida tomorrow, it's going to be interesting to see what
they bring to the table. Yeah. Well, Florida's
right in one right there with the Leaves.
This is a, it should be a massive
statement game for the Leaves. And let's
come back and get into it. And I want to play
the Brad Marchand comments from today.
Oh, God. They're quite something.
And the reaction is very
predictable. Like, I got a lot to say on this.
And again, I was saying
a little bit of a malaise. I was like, I don't know,
got into the eggnog last night for the first
time this year, kind of set the tone.
And once I saw these quotes from Brad, I'm like, I can't wait to get on today.
Like, we got to talk about this.
And we'll tee up, which should be a big statement game for the Leafs.
It better be considering the last time they saw this team.
So we'll come back, get to that.
Luke Wilson coming up today.
Pat Maroon on the show.
We'll catch up with Pat.
Get into a number of things with him, including winning a cup for Craig Barube.
He knows what it's like playing for Craig and spinning around the NHO with him.
The Rappers coming off two losses.
and they got LeBron and Luca rolling through town later this week.
You can already feel the buzz there, the Lakers in town on Thursday.
And I think Tiger might be speaking with the media tomorrow.
Might get some updates on Tiger and his future.
So a big week, yes, a big week.
If you didn't hear what Brad Marchand had to say about the Leafs and their situation,
we'll play it, we'll get into it.
We'll do that next.
Overdrive continues powered by Fanduel, bringing you everything from the opening line
to the final score.
Brian Hayes, the other dog, Jeff O'Neill, Jamie Noodles, McClennon.
Get the Monday night or tonight.
Luke will join us in about 40 minutes.
Get his take on what happened in that Pittsburgh Buffalo game yesterday
and who he thinks is the best team in the league,
what we can expect out of the Monday night or tonight.
So we're going to do a number of things with Luke.
Pat Maroon and just over an hour.
It'll be great to catch up with him.
And there are games in the NHL, of course, tonight, NBA.
And the Leafs are down in Florida.
And they got some news.
Brandon Carlo, I guess, had a setback in his recovery from the Lord.
body injury. He's flown back to Toronto
now. So that's not good.
No, when you're going to see a specialist
now and try to figure out what's going on,
that's a problem.
Tanev's still out. We don't know when he'll return.
Stolars is
no timeline. No one has a clue.
That's the one that
is the biggest
mystery out of all of this
for me. Like Carlo,
you know, Tannif we saw,
obviously. We saw Tannab.
Carlo, you get it. But like,
Stolar's, like, very concerning, very concerning.
Because the language around it, like, I don't, it's just like, we're not sure, we're not, you know, like, there's, there's, there's not a definitive, you know what I mean?
He just stayed it off the ice in Boston and threw up some ninja dust, and we haven't.
We have, like, it's, it's just, it's weird.
And, and you're seeing, you see this Terupchenko in, in St. Louis?
burned himself or some sort of like off icy injuries these these somebody else in
florida barbecuing yeah last week listerranean is is but like you know the the jack hugh's
injury these these injuries away from the rink are obviously freak injuries and scary but it's just
like it's it's very very weird i'm concerned like obviously you're concerned about the injuries
for the toronto maple leaves but i the stolars one is the biggest question mark because there's just
no information right exactly like he's you know he's had he's had head trauma in the past i'm not i don't
know if that's what it is they're not saying anything right obviously you know what happened against
florida was like his reaction he got stretched out of the rink you know it was so bad and didn't return
and again i don't know what's going on but the fact that he's not with the team and there's no
timeline like you have no idea when he's going to return um that's trouble man but um yeah as for tomorrow
night, you know, I'd like to believe the Leafs and Craig Barube will be leading the charge.
Maybe he looks at it differently. Maybe you guys would speak to it differently as NHLers that
you turn the page and you don't do the rah, rah, rah thing. But if there were ever a statement
game, it has to be tomorrow night. Like, your season has not gone so well. You're on the road
now. You've got coming off a win, your best win of the year in Pittsburgh, you feel good
about yourself. And you're running into a team who is ripe for the picking Florida. Like,
They're not the Panthers of the past three years, based on injuries, based on play.
Bob is really struggled.
I presume they'll play tomorrow night.
But Bob is not playing well.
And Florida's losing a lot.
So this is a game with the Leafs, if they have that any belief in themselves, and if they
really are pissed up the way things ended last year, you go in there with an attitude, just
like Edmonton did a week ago.
Edmonton rolled in there, one, six, three, I think it was.
They were up three nothing, I think, quick.
quick and made a statement.
Like, we're not happy with the way we lost to you.
We're not happy that you trolled us all summer.
I understand what you're saying, Brian.
Like, that would be kind of a normal train of thought to have a bit of a...
Chip on your shoulder.
A chip on your shoulder.
But do you really honestly expect that, like, for them to go in there and say,
all right, like, we want a game, we want to get back on track, and we're pissed off about
last year, and we're going to give it to you gut.
Like, do you really...
Unfortunately, I don't.
The answer is I don't.
I don't, but that, I want to believe in it.
I know.
You know what it is?
It's just a nice idea.
That's all it is.
And hopefully it materializes.
Hopefully it does.
I'm not going to put money on it.
But if it can't tomorrow, like it's just a more deeply rooted concern about where they're, forget their record, forget the injuries.
If you're flat for whatever reason.
If they're flat and they come out and they do what they do, it's just you'll be saying the Denny Green statement over and over.
Yeah, it'll be very, very unfortunate.
Here's what I would say, though.
There are some guys in that room that don't have that scars because they weren't here.
Not many, but some of them, yes.
But where I'm going is the spine of that team was there in games five and seven.
And that's exactly what you're saying is they should take that personally.
It's like the way it ended against Florida, yes, it was seven games,
but they weren't, you know, they were blowouts in games five and seven.
own building you've got an opportunity so that's the virus that's riley that's nielander that's matthews
that's nyes all those guys you should still you should still feel the sting of how it ended for you
last year now they don't i don't know if it rolls over but mentally it can't that's the thing
that you're talking about brian it's an opportunity again it's a game in december but
you are trying to claw up in the standings.
You've got to put wins together.
Regardless, here's an opportunity to find motivation that way, too,
is you're not only looking up in the standings,
but going that team sent us home last year,
and they're banged up, too.
Like, let's go at them.
Well, and the Maple Leaf's biggest booster
was speaking on their behalf today,
and that would be Brad Marchand,
who was asked about the Leafs and the way they've played
and where they're going.
And here's how Brad responded to that earlier today.
I mean, what are we, 25 games in?
If you think that your playoff teams are done,
25 games in, you get bigger problems.
You know, I know they don't think that in the room.
You know, it's just obviously with the media attention
and the fan support that they have in Toronto,
you know, things get blown way out of proportion up there.
But, yeah, they definitely don't think that in the room.
What are they, four points out of the 12 spot?
If people are thinking there were a playoff spot for the season,
they've got to find a new job.
Yeah, okay, we've got to find a new job, pal.
Matthew Caughes said it best.
Out of the 25 of whatever games they played, maybe two have been good.
So I think we know what we're talking about, Brad.
And if people can't see through this what he does every time,
he comes up with these nonsense comments where it's like,
oh, yeah, these guys have a real big belief in there and the playoffs and whatever.
And sure enough, his team rinses them.
every time.
He does the same crap every single time.
And for anyone to take that serious, what he just said there,
they're the ones that need a due job for taking his comments seriously.
Because it's just a joke every time.
You think he means that?
He doesn't.
He thinks they're the biggest bunch of losers of life.
That's what he thinks.
Oh, he does this perfectly.
This is what he does.
And it's fair.
Listen, however we think about it, that's what he does.
Brad Marshan, think about it.
It was, I believe, 2-2 in the series or whatever, and then he started talking in the playoffs last year.
That wasn't game one he started doing that.
He started doing that when Florida got down 2-0.
He scored the O-T winner and gave 3.
And then, yeah, like, he started talking more and more as the series went on and started being a narrative.
And, man, Matthew, Chuck, they were going up to Willie.
You're so soft.
You're so just crushing those guys.
Well, this guy is something else, man.
I appreciate how great of a character he is.
And the truth is we're going to miss him when he retires.
Now, maybe he retires in five or six years.
But listen, the message itself might be the right message.
Probably is the right message.
Wrong messenger, but right message.
25 games in, you better still believe, right?
The Leafs in the regular season have always had confidence.
They've been in the playoffs nine straight years.
Right message, wrong messenger.
What's amazing about this is it exposes the reality of every Leaf fan.
The Leaf fans, they have, there are three wars that they have throughout their lifetime.
And there's multiple battles within these wars.
But the first one is with the team itself.
Right.
Like Leaf fans are, 60 years without a cup, two rounds won in 20 years, players, coaches, management, ownership, all these different battles.
But that's kind of a war, psychological war, that Leaf fans are constantly.
having. They're also having it
with the media, which is what
he's played beautifully, because there's a lot of Lee
fans that just think, the reason they never win
is because of the media. Brad knows that.
Like Brad Marchand grew up
in Halifax, and has lived
in Boston and Florida, his adult
life. He's not from Toronto.
He doesn't play from the team. He has no idea
what's going on here. He's just seen
the regular season, the
playoff media. He just knows
the game. Playing it like a fiddle. Playing it like a fiddle,
playing it beautifully. And he knows
that it lands.
He knows that it works.
He knows that there are a lot of Leaf fans that believe the reason they never win is
because of the media or the media is too harsh or what have you.
Right.
And the third war that Leaf fans have, and this is where it's really going to be exposed here,
and I'm already noticing it online, is Leaf Fan versus Leaf Fan.
It's probably the craziest battle there is.
The Eternal Optimist versus the Eternal Pessimist, right?
They've been battling my whole life.
I'm born and raised here.
I've been going to Leaf Games.
whole life i've seen it all i've come across it all it's a massive fan base every psychology is
represented here and there there are battles and especially like an old school versus new school
you look like a 60 year old grizzled guy went to the gardens when the leaves were brutal in the
80s looking at an 18 year old kid with a marner jersey on he hates that kid hates that kid and just
goes i yet they're both fans of the same team he just wants to blow his cigarette and brown
liquor breath right in his face. It'd be curmudgeon about you think this is bad. I saw them trade
Tom Kerr for Tom Kerrbers. Yeah. They traded
Rust Cortnell. What I was.
And just blow smoke right in that kid's face. That's what he wants to do. Smoke and brown
liquor breath. Yes. And what Marshaun is doing here is what's crazy. This is the biggest villain in
modern leave history. Maybe the biggest.
in the history of the team.
He's five and O in the playoffs five times.
He's opposite Georging it, though.
That's what he's doing.
Five and O in game sevens against the Leafs.
He has licked leaf players.
He has submarine them.
He's injured them.
He's laughed on his way off the ice.
And there are Leaf fans saying,
God, I love Brad Marchand.
Thank you for speaking up and saying what I need someone to say for me.
Like, there are Leaf fans.
That's Stockholm Syndrome 101.
Brad Marchan has Leaf fans saying,
thank you.
Thank you for finally saying it's only 25 games.
Thank you for saying that they believe
and that they're still going to the playoffs.
That's how crazy it is.
That's how wild this fan base is
that not all of them,
I would think a majority would look at this and see through it.
I can't take that.
That's Brad Marshaw.
I can't listen to this guy talk about the Leafs.
Him?
I can't do it.
But there's a percentage that he is speaking
the God's truth.
He's speaking.
He is the,
the voice box of their mentality.
And that's how crazy it is here,
that the biggest villain can say this.
And Lee fans are,
there's some of them that are like,
I totally agree.
He's right.
The media stinks.
Leave fans are too crazy.
Why isn't Brad the Capitol?
And meanwhile,
they've played three or four
quality hockey games out of 25,
but the media is just a bunch of donkeys.
Media and the fans are too crazy.
How dare you?
Leave the leaves alone,
according to Brad Marshaw, it's brilliant.
But what he's doing,
what he's doing, though,
is playing it to a tea,
like the brown liquor.
Oh, just blowing smoke in the kid's face.
Right in the kid's face.
I saw them draft.
Like, you could just go on and on.
Right.
Christy.
Who sat in the grays at the gardens,
and he just can't stand that kid in the Marner, Jersey.
A yellow, like a white slash yellow mustache.
Sorry, doodles, continue.
No, but I'm just saying it's exactly, he's playing it like a fiddle.
Like he's, he knows exactly what he's doing, but he doesn't mean it.
That's the other thing.
Like, why do you care, like, why do you care to stand up for the Toronto Maple?
For the most disingenuous comments.
Like, that's the thing.
But he's, what he's doing is, hey, I've inserted myself into the conversation again.
Which is great.
Like, I love it.
But if Leaf fans believe that he's being genuine, then...
Like, rooting for the Leaves.
Yes.
Routing for them.
Great guys.
Like, he hopes something positive happens for them.
Yeah.
It's just...
He wants to spank them for one when he has two goals,
and they just show up with just a heartless effort.
Yeah.
And then he'll just be giving it to them all night on the ice.
And then afterwards, say, I thought they played,
well, we were lucky to win tonight.
Those guys really got something going on.
They know.
if they keep playing like that there's wins around the corner okay guy okay oh man i hope he's on
the olympic team because i want to be able to root for the guy yeah i have such an appreciation
for his whole career how he handles things he's such a great interview and he's playing great
he's played himself into a position where he i think he probably deserves to be on the team you know
he's not a young guy anymore and there's great competition like it's an ample ample competition for
the Olympic team.
But I want him over there speaking every day because you're not going to get anything out
of McDavid or Sid or McCar.
You know, those guys will give you the cliche answers and be respectful and all that.
He'll give you some juice, man, at the Olympic Games.
Get Brad Marchand to Italy, please.
Yep, I want to see it.
I think he's got a chance to be there.
I mean, I know there's a lot of buzz about Celebrini,
but Darred had another night last night and was going to.
at it, McTavish, and, you know, good for him.
Man, he looks good, man.
He looks great.
And it wouldn't surprise me, like, they have to be in that conversation.
But you're also choosing the team on what you believe in a vacuum can get it done.
There's so many players, Jamie, that not everybody's going to make it.
Like, Brad Marchand and Bedard and Celebrini and Hagel and Surrey, there's just not
enough room for these guys, man.
There is going to be some hearts broken, man.
Like, you remember the one year where Steve Y had to leave Marty St. Louis off the team,
how crushing that was.
There is going to be some heartbreaking decisions.
Like, imagine if Sam Bennett doesn't make that team, how good a player he was in the Four Nations, in the Stanley Cup.
Like, Four Nations finals, Sam Bennett scored, I believe, the first goal for Team Canada.
He was great.
And that one of the game, he was great.
So what?
He doesn't have a great start offensively.
You're going to say, oh, he's just automatically not on the team.
I don't know.
I bet you John Cooper might tell you differently on something like that.
Yeah, well, I look at, like, Brandon Hagel is one of the hottest players in the NHL right now.
on fire right now. Legitimately. If you look at his November, I think he scored the most goals
in the league. And, you know, is that a guy that makes the team? Is, you know, we know John Cooper
loves Sorrelli. Does Sorrelli get a look based on how much depth this group has?
Braden point, I was reading today, like there's no timeline for his injury return. So he might not be
available. He's an auto pick, right? He's already been pegged.
But he might not be available to you. How long, you know, that's my point is you, you look at
all of these things and it's a moving target you know wedgwood gets added as a potential
goaltender because he's playing so well in colorado they're a wagon like you know he's he's played
extremely well but you know do you trust him when it's not colorado that's what's going to be
asked that's what i think is fascinating about badard and his story and i got to give him
so much credit man because like this time last year and by the end of last season i i thought he had
basically a 0% chance of making Canada because of the way you've been playing,
the way the team looked, he was young, he looked, you know, just getting pushed out of plays,
and he just wasn't ready for prime time.
And I didn't think he had a shot.
And he has come out and lit the league on fire to the point where I think it's a legitimate chat.
Like we keep asking, well, is he comfortable on your fourth line?
Why would he be on the fourth line?
No kidding.
Like you tell him he hasn't played better than Mitch Marner?
I was just about to ask him, not picking on Mitch, but you're, like, he's been better than Marner.
No kidding.
I guess Marner's older.
He doesn't want anything.
So what?
Like, why does, like, does Marner, guys like Marner, do they just get a haul pass to say,
oh, don't ever say that Badaard's playing better than him?
Right.
If Badaard's playing better than Brayden Point, and he's playing better than whoever else,
he's been playing better than Marner.
He is.
Call a spade a spade.
Exactly.
Put him in a scoring position.
Like, play him with McKinnon or something.
No kidding.
Go, go rip him.
home goals man you know that's i think he's played himself into that chatter where it's not just
13th forward i can't speak for can't speak for canada they might still think that way but for me the
guy i mean he's unbelievable he had a four point night yesterday like every game the guy's
dominating he have 115 points he's been fantastic and they have to look at him but you also
have to look at where the fit is right can he you know if but has he changed that fit though
noodles that's what i'm asking he you're right as he might change the fit you know what i mean like
we don't ask fit for the best players and he's not mc david or mckinan i get it but there's no
fit with them it's everyone else has to fit to them they're on it mccar there's no fit
you go play isn't he playing himself into that chatter where it's like fit the other guys
that guy's got to play and play a lot possibly i get it i just my my point is is if he if he's
not going to play maybe he's going to play in the top six and that's what you're saying but what if
he plays in top nine or he's the 11th forward.
Is he the perfect fit on their fourth line if they believe that they want more of a bigger
line or different types?
We don't know the mold.
I'm not familiar with the mold.
So you're right.
If you're just looking on how the kid has played and does he deserve to be on the team
or looked at, 100%.
He's been fantastic.
And he's got some jam and pop like, oh, you called it.
I think he just arrived a little bit.
you know, maybe a year later than we expect it.
That's the way I look at it.
But then you look back at Nathan McKinnon, his first year.
I think his first or second year, there was some dips, like,
and then he took off and hasn't looked back.
This kid is a special player, and he's really coming into his own,
and he's got some bite to his game.
Like, that's what I kind of, he's got a little chip on his shoulder.
Yeah.
Like, I love that.
I actually love that type of stuff where it's like he's not wading his way into his game,
a game like him and mcdavish were really going i loved it i think too yeah yeah but they were going
at it in a face off and i love it i thought it was fantastic and and he scores the empty netter
and looks at him and they start chirping yes like it was it was fantastic teams that could you know
are probably going to collide if they keep moving in the right direction yeah and we got to give
a shout out to cow davidson because we kind of gave him the business for a couple years when it
wasn't going there are some other players on that black hawk team yeah that they look pretty
good like you know that the young guys have shown up for them well who's the kid number 20 on
badards line green uh more isn't it more no yeah okay i know what you're talking about though
he's a really good player more number of like there's just a bunch of other good players
popping up up front where you're young defensemen that have like really well yes so yeah it's
Ryan green Ryan green is the player but they've they've got more there they've got a couple young
players even colton dock st albert kid he's a good player yeah this
These guys are popping up, and they didn't rush it, and it was like, for a couple of years,
it was like there's Bedard, and there's just no one else around there.
There's been some kind of pretty good signings with Burakowski and different guys just to supplement them.
So he's done a pretty good job there.
The Nazar Kid is a player, too.
And then, like you imagine, Tara Bine, there's Tyler Bertuzzi.
He's kind of found home there.
He's settled in.
But, you know, Dickinson, McKayev, that's pushed those guys down.
Donato.
those guys are farther down in the lineup where they, in previous years, were higher up.
Those were the guys that were expected.
Now these young kids have pushed through.
They've got this kid, Louis Crevier, he's a big right-shot defenseman, Vlasic, Kaiser.
Like, they're young.
And the one thing that is consistent with these organizations that have turned the corner
comes back to what you said, Brian.
They got a goalie.
Spencer Knights of goalie.
Like, he can stop puck.
He's a, I think he's a one, and, you know, learning to be a one in the league.
He had some personal issues that are well-documented.
He was a high-draft pick to Florida.
I don't, I believe probably Florida wanted to keep him, but that's the cost of doing business for Seth Jones.
Yeah, they're paid off.
They want a stop.
They want a Stanley Cup.
You don't make apologies.
But this night, he's a player, and if he can, you know, keep things together as far as, you know, his approach on the game, I think he's fantastic.
I think it's actually an important point to make, like, in terms of where the lead, like, if you're any individual team and you're thinking, wow, we've got to rebuild, we've got a retool.
Really, I think the difference is if you have a goalie.
Like, if you have a stud goalie or a tandem you can trust, then you're not going to go scorched earth because it's just not possible.
It allows you to retool.
They give you a chance.
Yeah, you can retool on the fly if you have the goal.
Yeah, you have to have some fundamentals in place.
years back in Montreal
I think a Montreal team that had P.K. Suban,
Carey Price,
I think they finished dead last in the East
or in their division.
And the next year, they were near the top.
It was like a three or four transaction thing
where they turned it around.
But you have to have those fun.
Like you've got to have a couple top players,
but you've got to have the goaltender.
Yeah.
It's everything, man.
It keeps you out of it.
There's so much trouble.
Well, it keeps you out of the video room.
It keeps you in the standings, all these types of things.
Like, it gives you points.
Like, you mentioned it.
Saturday night could have looked a little bit different had, you know, the monster goalie not showed up.
Yeah.
The only gives up a couple early.
It's different.
It could be very different.
Malkin had a couple good looks early on.
And, you know, again, score effects, all of that type of stuff.
The Leaf still gave up 18 high danger chances.
But, again, the game was out of.
a reach at that point but still a lot that i believe the high danger chances from i can go back
and look but it was 1810 for pittsburgh yeah there are numbers you know you look at sport logic
there's tweets circulating every hour you know about what they give off the leaps give off the rush
off the cycle in the slot like it's just none of it is flattering not of yeah the analytics are
arnest like you don't hear i don't know if was what jonas was saying the other day but you don't
here a lot of times leaps would win or lose and it was jonas and myrtle saying yeah but the
numbers suggest this is stronger they're they're fine and you know just going to come out of
a lot of them now are just going man those numbers i don't even look at them because they're not
great right now the eye test and the analytics there's a handshake there right now but yeah
as brashon said it's only 25 games a lot of hockey left to be played so leave him alone
uh yeah just the leaps are going to be fine uh luke wilson coming up pat maroon coming up best

Raptors with a big one, the Lakers in town later in a week, Monday night or tonight.
Lots going on in sports, man. Lots going on. And I guess we've got Tigers tournament this week too, right?
Where Shephler's won it back-to-back years.
Is he teeing it up?
Tiger?
Yeah.
No.
Not even close, man.
He's done for life.
So what's he talking about then?
He's the host of the tournament.
He'll go down.
I don't know noodles.
I'm not bracing for anything groundbreaking.
I'm sure he'll say I'm still competitive and I'm going to come back.
And when I do, I think I can win.
Like, I'm sure that's what we'll hear from Tiger.
But you don't believe it, though.
Does anybody believe it other than Jeff McDonald's?
I actually, I actually think Jeff McDonald's our boss, by the way.
I think he might sniff around the senior tour.
I think he might go out there and play with those guys.
Well, he's got endorsement deals, right?
He's got his new clothing line out.
He's got financial obligations in a way.
And I had read over the weekend, was it this week?
Someone wrote, I want to say the Gull Channel, that the PGA is concerned.
If he goes out there and plays on the senior tour, it's going to overshadow the PGA tour.
like if he if tiger shows up and plays whatever tournament and it's up against the dick sporting good
senior open but if it's up against the farmers or something i think a lot of people say i want to watch
tiger they will man yeah they will watch tiger there's some good players out there in a senior
tour now well ernie else is out there every weekend just tooting around dude it was yellow
golf that guy just not miss an event he doesn't miss he plays there's a five
or six-pack, that little Stephen Alker, that little weasels out there, stealing money on a weekly
basis every week.
Jimenez is out there, too.
He's got his ponytail and cigars.
I think they love it.
I think they hammer beers after and they have a good time and there's no stress.
And they're making money.
Still making money.
Yeah.
I think it's a great life.
Why not?
Justin Leonard stepped out of the booth because he's like, I don't want to do this.
I want to go play.
Yeah.
You know, he was a pretty good analyst, too.
Like, he was doing a lot of stuff.
Yeah, he was very good.
He's almost their number one guy.
Yeah.
And he said, forget this, man.
I can go play three rounds and make some money and drink wine.
They play pro-ams and stuff, right?
They'll play with like a banker on Tuesday and make 50 grand to do that, right?
Oh, yeah.
Like, if you're a big name still in golf communities, like a guy like Ernie Ells, I'd love to play with Ernie Ells.
Oh, yeah.
You'd be a blast to play with him.
But there are people that, like, there are companies that, when that Tuesday,
day before a tournament will pay big money big money to go play with like so the guys
still in the primes but definitely the old school guys would still make money yeah like tiger
would what would he charge for a corporate round tiger woods million bucks no more than that
you think so oh yeah rory i think rory's i think asking two million bucks next year for his
little outing for a corporate round yes just on a tuesday go around and all
go to all the different, play a hole, play nine different holes
with different VIPs, I think is asked.
But I think there's like a dinner and some other things involved.
Yeah, it's like a, yeah, it's an event, like a Rory event.
Meet and Greet, it'd be a Q&A after and all that stuff.
But it's huge money, man.
And there'd be people that would pay, like for Tiger,
you get billionaires that love golf, they'd pay that guy $5 million cash to just motor around
with him.
Yeah, that's true.
All right, our two.
