But, hey, listen, there's a game going on. You know, Canada's playing right now. Boy, this 97 is possessed. Well, okay, let me post something to you guys out of the gate because I was thinking about it last night. Yeah. There are times, you know, in life where you don't realize, like, you're in the midst of something until afterwards, right? Like especially, you hear pro athletes say it all the time.

Players that make it in the Super Bowl one time. They say, well, I was 23. I made it. I figured I'd always be back and they never got back. What if this is it? Like, this is his Mozart moment. This two weeks, like, if he doesn't get a cup, if he doesn't get a consmite,

like what we could be in the middle of his, you know, Mona Lisa. The peak. Yeah, the peak of it. This is the thing in 20 years. Is that possible, Hayes, for a player like this who plays in the National Hockey League, for this to be it, like, for this to be his Picasso? I don't know if I have an answer for it.

I guess it can be if you don't get it done, I guess is what I'm saying. You know he sure as hell doesn't want it to be. You know that for a fact. As much as he looks possessed out there, like Jamie just mentioned, and he's going a million miles an hour, and he's clearly the best player on the ice in the tournament in the world. He doesn't want it to be, man. There's no way.

No, I mean, you even saw his, what was it? What's the name of that article? Players Tribune. Players Tribute. Like, he wants to win in Evan, wants to win. Like, yes, they all want to win. Whether you do it or not, I get that. But I think there's still lots of runway left.

But you're right. We could be eight years from now and looking back and say he made it to the finals four times and just didn't, you know, team didn't get it done, whatever. That is the great what if. But, you know, it's like anything. We are watching greatness because he's in his prime and he's on the biggest stage right now. He has been on the biggest stage the last two years and him and his team has fallen short. So that's just the truth. There's no debating that.

Here, you know, you can tell how excited he is. I still think his story in Edmonton has lots of chapters left, but again, you don't know. And you never know because we don't know injuries, inconsistencies, no saves, all of these types of things. There's things you can control. We talk about all the time, golf tennis, you can control that because you're the guy, right? You know, he scores six, they might give up seven. You can't control that type of stuff. So it'll be interesting, but I'm just trying to lap it in because this guy is.

Well, that's what I'm saying, though. That's the point I'm making. is like basking it. Don't take it for granted because what this guy has done through four periods is absolutely absurd at the highest level. Because this is what everyone says this is the greatest talking. You can say obviously the Stanley Cup means more, I think. I think for individual players, that's what you dream of growing up. Every kid that's played, you want to win a Stanley Cup.

It means more because you have more of a connection to your teammates and the market and the fans and the coach and the GM and management and all that. And, you know, you go back as an alumni for the rest of your life. You know, obviously there's more heaviness there. There's more detail to that story. But we always heard, like, even the greatest of all time, like Gretzky would say, oh, 87 Canada Cup. Like that guy played a ton of World Cup finals. He's like, I've never played better hockey than that.

You know, 72 Summit Series. I've never played in better hockey than that. That's what I'm saying is like, this is the best of the best because it's all the best players. Russia notwithstanding, obviously. Yeah, we know that. They're flying. They're moving. And this guy's a step above.

Like McKidd is flying, but he looks like he's not because McDavid is playing at a level that's absurd. Yeah, he hammered another guy today, too, behind the net. He got hit a skil. Go on the sis, going nuts, scores and goes crazy. And that's what I'm saying is like, I think if they win gold, and this is they played four periods. I know yesterday we proclaimed that it's already over and there's a lot left to be played. Two of us. Two of us said.

And you in particular, you were the, oh, is the one that on the, you know, you were the one on the marquee. Yeah. But if they win gold and he's doing this, for me it passes Kahn Smythe and the loss two years ago. And it passes this great playoff run last year. For me, I mean, this becomes. I don't see it that way. Like, I don't. I do.

Well, yeah, go ahead. But he didn't win. Like, yes, he won the Kahn Smyth, but he didn't win the Cup. He didn't win the Stanley Cup two years ago. My only argument with this is like Switzerland would be beat by pretty much every... It's not the point I'm making. I'm not talking about... They're going to crush France.

Right. In France, some of these countries aren't... That's not best-owned best. Some of these countries, those guys don't even play in the NFL. Exactly. That's common. They're going to play, you know, Finland beat Sweden today. Those two teams are good and the U.S. are good.

They're great. They're great teams. I hope it's not the case. I'm not saying I'm not proclaiming it will be. I'm not predicting it will be that this is... it, but it might be. It's possible he doesn't win a Stanley Cup. And if he doesn't, but he gets a gold here

and he puts on a performance like this for another four or five games, this could be the Picasso. This could be the Mona Lisa. You love dragon this guy. You said earlier this season, I don't know about that. I'm pumping his tires. I'm saying he's playing

hockey at a level that's insane right now. Yeah. I'm not dragging him. I'm just being honest and truthful of what could happen. For whatever reason, I can't get past, like, just this is insane hockey. For some reason, I hold the NHL over here, and I know it's the Olympics, but I just have it as this thing over there, and I don't know why I think like that. It's because you're doing exactly what I'm doing.

I'm looking down, and I can't pronounce or recognize half the people on the ice. But that's, yeah, that's what it is. The personnel on the opposition, Jamie, is not a factor in why I think I just, I don't know. I guess I just hold the NHL in a standard where I don't know I guess that's what we do on a day-to-day basis and that's what I do and I don't know this is like this thing over there although it's the greatest sporting competition in the world or that's how everyone kind of judges it or holds it and I I don't know why I think about it that way well I think to let me go out you noodles first just like the 30 the worst team in the league technically has NHL players they're not a good good team. They're awful. But they would beat Switzerland. No, they would. Yes, they would.

I guarantee you. Canada's up to one. They're up two one. After one period. Yes, exactly. But it's a grunt. The worst team in the NHL would not just... Who's the worst team in the NHL right now, in your opinion?

I guess. Vancouver? Vancouver. Okay, Vancouver beats Switzerland. All day. Sometimes. Every day of the week. No, they don't every day of the week.

excitement. I'm not. I started saying, how hard these guys are playing. I started saying, like, McDavid's on another planet. And you're right, Hayes, it is a treat to watch, and we should just. It's amazing. Basque in it. Like, bask in watching that team play, like, and that player play.

You know, to me, it's amazing. But I'm waiting for next week. I get. I hear you. I understand that. And France is not going to make the point any better than it is. Right. I'm saying historically, like, let's use a different player.

What do you think is the marquee moment of Sidney Crosby's hockey career? Three Stanley Cups. Well, I think people say golden goal. I would guess if you put a poll out there, they'd say golden goal. I think people would put three Stanley Cups over the golden goal. All right, throw it out there, dude. Well, it's actually a great question. Let's put 500 on it.

I think it's a great question, because I do believe people will go. gold golden goal but i i think you look at the no okay go ahead oh i don't i i just want to say hazy put the poll out and however it ends when this shows over a real hunch the next time i see okay but we got a we get a ice parameters like three stanley cups is not a moment you know the golden goal is a moment okay how do you want to phrase the question i don't know what's his greatest what's his greatest nchel moment like do you have one i don't i just told you he won three stanley cups and he got called over to jerry betman don't Hold it off the air.

Okay, then that might be it. Him holding the cup in the air is the moment. Three cups is not an individual moment. I mean, those are three different two-month-long journeys that ended in success. But maybe it's simply. How about just this? What is a greater thing for Sidney Crosby? The Golden Goal or hoisting the cup three times?

Yeah, I don't know. I feel like we got to figure out a way to survive. I don't like that because you know you'll get dummy the way that that's great. It's three cuts. You know what I'm saying, noodles. I 100%. The first thing I thought about it was the golden goal. Yes.

Because that's a moment. The difference is like, you know, I think it, you got to put it on an island. Olympic hockey's here, NHL hockey's here. But if you're thinking Sidney Crosby moment, we all think of the golden goal. We all do. It's just that's. Not this guy. He thinks of them beating the Islanders in the first round back in 2009.

No, no, no. Sidney Crosby's career, he's going down as arguably the greatest player, one of them, who ever played, Mount Rushmore. Yes. But like Gretzky, like it's hard to say, you know, what's Gretzky's? Is it the past the Lemieux? Is it to, you know, or is it scoring, you know, 900? I mean, it's probably, probably third, like, in terms of the playoffs, I mean, he had those,

that big goal against Calgary. I don't know. That's the hardest part because you're saying moment. moment separates because you could say golden goal but you know O's talking about like when I think a Crosby is a winner like three-time winner all that type of stuff so I think the question would be harder to phrase but I would you ask it just in a vacuum you said one moment for Sidney Crosby I thought golden goal yeah I did that's what I did I would think the same you know with Gretzky I think the same you say Gretzky to Lumute any hockey fan

they know they can close their eyes and say I know exactly what you mean. Howard Chuck wins the draw. Gretzky goes, like Larry Murphy's a decoy. Like, everyone knows what it meant. I don't know. Listen, I hope he gets all of it. I hope McDavid, because he's worthy of it. He's worthy of it like Sid is, like Gretzky, like Lemieux,

where you get your gold, you get your cups, and you just go down as one of the four or five greatest players ever. Like that's, I think that's where he will be when all of a sudden done. And I wasn't trying to drive home. this, you know, this commentary about Switzerland versus Vancouver. I was going to say, I hope somebody at Yorkdale Mall snaps a pick of Hazy B in his Swiss jersey with Hayes on the back. I think you're downplaying how connected these teams are.

Like, where do you draw the line on which NHL team could beat a national team? I just want to read this one tweet. You know, like that type of stuff. This guy, Karma, is his name. He's apparently doing drugs on a Friday afternoon, said, O-Dog and noodles are out to lunch on that take. Switzerland would definitely beat Vancouver. Really?

Danny B. Malgan. Jerry Malgan would be flying down the wall and dominate. You know how these Europeans are when they play together in the NHL? Like you look, so name me Sven Aaron Ghetto. It means Sven Aaron Ghetto, Christopher Birchie. Okay. Let's go.

Ken Yager. Vancouver. Simon Neck. David Kemp. Simon Kemp. Where's Simon Neck? Damien Reyes. San Joseon Shreveh. Two weeks ago.

David Kemp. Okay, but Calvin Thurcott is going to dominate. It's not dominate. Darren Thurkutts cousin. I think you're downplying the way these teams get up for games. Listen, there's a reason why. I tell people this all the time. There's a reason why you don't play in the NHL because you can't play in the

NHL. You're not good enough. That's right. I'm sorry. It's not because, Dean Culkin didn't go, you know what? I got to go play for the ZSC Lions this year.

I'd rather, I'd rather play. But you guys are insane if you think. I feel like it's better competition, the ZS Snake Lions. Well. Like, the point being is all those guys in the Swiss

would give their left arm to play for the Vancouver Canucks, outside of Roman Yosi and guys like that. Yes. You know, my point being is, like, that's not the conversation we're having. The conversation is, is there's a reason why they're not in the NHL because they're not good enough.

Okay. So then what is this work then? You guys answer me then. Like do we put an asterisk on it? If McDavid plays great, it's like, well, he played France and Switzerland and they don't have NHL players. Brian, I said, wake me up next week because when they start playing the teams like Switzerland, Sweden and Finland and the U.S., like those teams, Germany is getting there.

not there yet. But my point being is there's probably a four-pack that are, you know, the lead are close to it, right? Yeah, no, for sure. I mean, we know there's definitely a separation. I'm not arguing against that. Now, Chakia was not all NHL players. No.

You know, do you think Chakia could beat Vancouver or would they lose three, four to one in a best of seven? I don't, you know, half a Chequia doesn't play in the NHL. The other guys do. You're so held up on that. Well, it just, it's, it's a. Brian, it's a valid point. The NHL is the best league in the world.

I understand the NHL is the best league in the world. And if you're not in the NHL, there's a reason why. It's not because you chose not to. Hey, I want to go make $150,000 in Switzerland. A lot of these guys had gambling casinos in their bedrooms, and that's why they didn't make it. Do you think Chekia, as their builds, would be dead lost in the NH? If they played an 82-game season, you think they'd be dead lost? Pasta,

half of that team is NHL players, correct? Yeah, pasta and Kasha. Like, let's pretend those guys are body doubles and he's still in Boston and, you know, still in Colorado. I think they would be near the bottom.

They would be near the bottom for sure, but they would win games. They would win games. It wouldn't be 10 out of 10, any team. Okay. Like, I, you know, I just, I struggle with it when you're looking at a roster, like, I've never heard of that player before.

Well, he's 5 foot two, and he's flying a, around out there. I get thrown, you know, stuffed into a garbage can in the NHL. Now, we also, this is the show that talks about how watered down the league is all the time. Correct. There's too many teams. Well, think of how watered down the league is outside the NHL.

Think of how the talent is watered down outside the NHL. Like the best league, the best league outside the NHL is the KHL. And that's, you know, good leagues there. Like good players there. Yeah, like, well, that's the thing. Like, Russia goes to the, when they're in the Olympics, they all. always have three or four players that aren't played in the NHL. Right.

And they don't bring players that are in the NHL. They bring their own guys. Yeah. It's a good debate, a good argument, but I think we lost the point here. The point was McDavid is on another planet and we should enjoy that. Exactly. And the point I'm trying to drive home is we might be in the middle of the storm where this is his moment. Like this is where not that we ever debated who the best player was, but he's,

He's putting a stamp on it. It could be, I could see a scenario like this 20 years from night. You wouldn't believe what this guy looked like for two weeks. And, man, if I go back and watch that, I was used to hear that as a kid, like Bobby Orr at the 76 Canada Cup. Like, oh, he was on one knee. You wouldn't believe what he looked like. Yeah.

And, you know, I hope, I know it's going to continue on an individual level. I know Edmonton's still going to be good, and he's going to get cracks at it. Hopefully he wins cups. Hopefully he wins heart trophies. I don't know. We'll see. We'll see. He's in the eye of the fire right now, playing at a level that's absurd.

You always cause debates where it's like dumping on people. Like, now you got us. You guys are dumping on people. You said, what if? Swiss stinks and Chequia would be an American hockey game. This is how you started off the combo. You're like, wow, McDavid's awesome. What if this is as good as it gets for him and he never does squat again in the NHL?

It's like, what? It's negative thinking. It's negative. It's a one Super Bowl. It's negative thinking to start arguments. It's actually the complete opposite. No, it isn't. It's Uber positive.

You barked up the wrong tree. And we shoved you in a garbage can. Keep going. Because you and all your cronies that build casinos in the dorms, they don't make it to the NHL. I got a good read on odds. I can read people. I can read that you two have no idea what you're talking about right now.

They didn't even dress Bennington, which I think is the right play. I'm sorry. That might have been Reinhard. That might have been Marchand sitting with Morrissey.

The stupidest thing you've ever said on this program is the Swiss would get pumped by Vancouver for fun. I don't know. I guarantee you, this guy's going to be walking around Yorkdale Mall on a Swiss hazgerz. I have respect for the Olympic Games. That's what I respect.

I just think some of these teams are a little bit. weaker and they don't have any NFL players. I'm not pretending there's some great team. The Canada's up 3-1. You know, like you guys are talking as if they're up, they're up, they should be up 15-0. Like, these guys can't skate. When you play...

Yeah, so my point is, if Kyle Dubas called him today and said, I need you, you know, back

in Pittsburgh, I think he was in Pittsburgh at some point. He was all over the place. He might be. Maybe he has a great tourney. I actually think he's playing in the league right now, and we're probably. I have no idea if Malgan's around or not. But my point being is I just, there are some players that are NHL players. The rest are not, and they would love to be.

No, he's playing in Zurich right now, Jerry Malgan. Pretty good team there. Pretty good system. I like the way they play. They beat Vancouver. System. Always been a fan. Big fan of Zurich.

Always loved it. Listen, Swiss hockey's very good. I know a buddy that played there, Nat Dominichelli, and he dominated over there. Nat with a G, wasn't it? How'd you spell his name again? H-H. H-N-A-T, yes. H-G, yeah, it was.

I think he will based on the way he's playing, the way things are going. Well, win gold, be great, tournament MVP, go chase Stanley Cups. But get the first one, and then that's locked in. At a minimum, you could say you wouldn't believe it. 20 years from now, you wouldn't believe what this guy, did the 26 Olympic games.

What did you make of the bounce back by Finland? Impressive. They're a good team. Yeah. Like they probably finished 28th in the NHL, but they're a good team. They're a very, very good team. They're a very good team. Well, yeah, how about this?

The report that some of the players wanted Paul Maurice to be their coach. How'd they come up with that? Is that because of. Well, probably some of the finished players. They're a bark-off or what? Exactly. Lindel and Lundel. Lister Rhinon, they're all like, you know, Finnish guys.

But like, how do they come up with? Is there no other coach in Finland? They just said, screw it, let's get Paul Maurice over here. Well, so the report was out of, I think, a paper in Finland that said after the Four Nations experience, they were unhappy with the coach. And obviously, if you're a Panther, you probably love Paul Maurice. Of course. He's a great coach. It worked out pretty well.

But I don't know. Like that would be wild. Imagine Paul Maurice comes bombing out as the head coach of Finland. Yeah. Just grew his hair out and slicked it back and had a blue suit on. Like, what is Maurice? What's the last name, Maurice? That's not Finnish.

No, he's French. He's Canadian. He's from Suu-A-Marie. But, I mean, you know, I've been indigenous roots. I've got Scottish roots. Like, I don't know. Like, McLennan is Scottish. What's Hayes?

because you're not allowed to so but it is really amazing to to see him here it's it's incredible so Julie talk to us about number 97 and how motivated he looks up close and personal I mean like look at him making those hits

I know it's weird. There's no context to it. It's just shut up. There's absolutely no... Yeah. The Switch team now, the Vancouver team then, the Vancouver team now. I'm talking right now. As soon as this Olympic Games ended, they flew to Van and they played the Canucks 10 times.

How many times do you think of... Okay, well, don't that... I bet you they win probably eight times. See, thank you. They probably smoke Vancouver. They'd smoke Vancouver. You guys are getting dusted. These two have no idea what they're talking about.

they're there listen maybe not a it's what kind of debate is that a big question you guys are having we yelled at each other for 45 minutes and there was a deeper context to it it's unfair to it's unfair to it just lay it on the line like that with like just get on a plane and come over here do us can you answer us this because we are obviously not in italy and we're tracking everything that's going on daily where are the gold medals like can you tell us what is the like the vibe around there we have four silvers and three bronze like from our standpoint it feels like a very underwhelming Olympic games is that the sense around the Olympics Hazie I literally thought you're asking me where to locate the metals I was like

steal them if you have to I don't know where they where they we need so I don't know where they we need I'm like I don't know where they hide them here um but yeah it is it's almost like it's okay I was saying this on the train to my can't my videographer I was like I I bet you it's like waiting for hockey. Women, you know, fingers crossed. It feels like it's like building up to that. But then also obviously I have not done any research as to like who could potentially win a gold medal going forward tomorrow.

Or like then I say, we obviously know Mark McMorris will be looking to do that. And, you know, figure skaters are also back. And there's a lot more going on. There's so many events, right? Like I'm in Milan. I'm just doing, I'm just doing ice stuff. So like, and by that I mean hockey and skating and speed skating and not on the mountain. So there's a lot of other stuff going on.

But it is, it's like that first gold medal is going to be that whoever wins it now because we've been waiting for so long, I feel like we'll have even more behind them. Like they will, that medal will even, that will mean even more. So whoever it is. And I hope it's not Team Canada men because that would mean we'd have to wait until the very end. Right. But it is different in the winter Olympics, right? Like the summer, there's just way more events. And so that's what we're learning.

Like, there's just not as many things to update, really. So that's why it's interesting to see other countries around the world what they're doing because there's obviously so many other stories that extend beyond the field of play. So, yeah, I don't know where the gold medals are located for Canada on the metal standing board or in the venues. But now you keep my interest in. to wondering where they hide the gold, where they hide the medals. There's a great story.

Go find them. Go find them if you can. Yeah, yeah. Somewhere there is a Philip Pritchard for gold medals. Oh, I think, I think so, I think someone's,

I know what you're talking about because I did the walkthrough today. And it's amazing. You do the walkthrough. Like, it's such a connection that guys have when they're walking through and you're just not a little knot of the head. I know what you're up to. Baby's breath. you're going to be getting baby's breath, which is the stuff that they just stuff into where the roses are.

Right, exactly. Completely useless, painted-in-the-ass flower stuff that dies almost immediately. You're going to bring home a potted plant because that's all they had. Yeah, potted plants. I got lucky. I got a reservation, but I had to, it's a great restaurant and they're such nice people in there. Okay. Well, we got a tournament this weekend. So we're kind of running around and we got a game tomorrow night at like 630. Yeah. So I don't think, I don't know.

Kids hockey is out of control this weekend. We had a game at 730 this morning. I had one at 9 or 8.30 or whatever. Yeah, big tournament weekend. Oakville. Parents were very energetic. Fire. I told you, Brian, they were pretty energetic this morning at about 8.30, 9 o'clock.

There was them yelling and screaming, but both teams played well. All they want is these kids have fun. They're eight. Let them be able to. You have a good time. Work hard. Be good teammates. There you go.

Learn the game. It's outrageous. I know. It's like the Swiss crowd showing up at these tournaments. It's crazy. Julie Stewart Bank said they were unruly. It sounds, you know what, everyone's had 50 beers over there. Yeah, they were throwing cups and stuff on the ice, man.

Canada's bench was going nuts, I think. That's, well, Johnny just tweeted he's dodging cops down. He's between the benches, people are throwing stuff out. Like, you're Canadian, and you're not wearing a helmet. You're going to take one right off the head. Like, the Swiss supposed to be neutral? Like, isn't that the joke? They're neutral, right?

Just go sit there and be quiet. Be Switzerland. Well, I don't know who won. It doesn't matter. We head back to Switzerland. Is it an isolated? incident they're freaking out about or what or they're just getting pumped and they've had enough
