Dear Hazy B, later in the hour, Ryan Callahan coming up lease at the garden tonight playing the rangers
we got our best but slater in the hour on a play the lebron audio here in a
moment
and the lakers are looking good lebron looks good
who could don chiches plan well or when of all names of him
hit in the hookah on the sidelines are so good scrape
it's why why AI was created for stuff like this.
This is his thing?
He's into the hookah?
Is this confirmed?
Those are the reports.
Oh, there was a report out of Dallas that they hated the fact he loved drinking beers
and hammering the hookah bars.
Yeah.
The hookah bars.
Yeah, I guess there's these hookah bars where you-
I've never seen a more pointless thing than the old hookah bar.
Me neither, man. It doesn't do anything. Me neither. This guy loves it. I thing than the old hookah bar like me neither man doesn't do anything
I don't get the hookah doesn't even look cool. I don't know now. It's a weird the whole apparatus is a weird
It's a weird vibe. It's a lot of hoopla for nothing. I don't understand the payoff
I maybe it's not for me to understand I agree with you, but I guess Luca. There's there's something to it, man
It's a lifestyle
and he's into it
so anyway let's let's play it because lebron you know there's been this face
of the league stuff recently in the nba who's the face of the league and who's
it going to be
and it's been lebron for like twenty years
and uh... this is what the bron james had to say about a last night
and uh...
i mean cheney fries said the other day to like
this unfortunate but like I said it the other day too, I mean, it's unfortunate, but I don't know, why do you want to be the face of a league when all the people
that cover our game and talk about our game on a day to day basis,
they don't everybody.
That responsibility, that's just weird,
is weird energy from the people that, you know, I don't know.
But Channing, he said it. He said it perfectly. He couldn't say it no better.
But Ant said he don't want it. I'm the opposite. I didn't ask for it.
I feel Ant. I understand. I completely understand.
This is weird energy when it comes to that.
What is he talking about? People dumping all over him? Like who? The only thing that he gets where he gets strays is when the goat combo comes up and old schoolers come into play and they're like there's Michael Jordan and they don't even have him second. They have Kobe.
Like they're like this guy wasn't even as good as Kobe. That's the only strays he picks up. So what is he talking about? I think he gets strays also with the social media stuff the Twitter being a hero
Instagram that's where he picks up straight. No, he's probably bald
He's acting like that. He's had the most difficult time dealing with oh, no, they've crowned him
He's what the hell is such a young age?
He was he's been the king his entire career and he was a part of himself
Yeah, well,'s it exactly.
I think the NBA, the chatter on the NBA is, it's, you know, it's at a low point right
now.
I do think because of the All-Star game where he factored into that, right, shows up injured
an hour before the game and tells him he's not playing.
Then plays the first game as soon as it's over.
Back to back, coming out of the All-Star game like 40 minutes a night so
he took heat for that he's taking heat for not being in the dunk competition
right the only superstar that never did it and listen is taking his talents to
South Beach there's been a lot of different things that he's taking heat
for but right now the NBA is at a low point people are jabbing out of people take a runs at the nba
but i i do think it is very disingenuous
of of lebron now to say it now that he's out of the conversation because of his
age
to pretend as if being the face of the league was an incredibly beneficial
because of billionaire
because he's the face the league
and he he gave him an opportunity instead of
the woe is me everyone's dumping on us everything stinks everyone hates us I would have loved
for him to take the opportunity to say I'll tell you why it's great because it's a great
sport it's a great league I'm set up for life listen me being the face of the league my
son got to play in the NBA this year because I was the face of the league. Like what a huge benefit of being the face of the league and he's crowned himself the
king.
You know, like I saw Winnhorst talk about it today.
He wears number 23.
Like that's Michael Jordan's number and he's like, I'm wearing it when I get to the NBA.
He wanted to be the face.
He was desperately seeking out
and guess what he deserved it he earned it because of who he is and how great he
was i'm pretty sure he loved every second of being of course and the
attention and all of that is just he makes some weird comments man well now
it's it's not his thing anymore so again i i kind of i don't i don't love the
fact that instead of him talking it up and say it's great
You should try it. You should seek it out now. He's like, yeah, I'm done with it. So yeah, I wouldn't want it either
It's like really LeBron like you had it for 15 years and now that it's not yours anymore. You're like it sucks
I find that
Very difficult if LeBron didn't want to be in the spotlight
There's many things he could have done along the way to take himself out of the spotlight
He was in the spotlight because there's many things he could have done along the way to take himself out of the spotlight.
He was in the spotlight because of his brilliance as a player, don't get me wrong, but there's
so many times where LeBron had to make it about LeBron.
You go down the list, it's just the language that he would use.
It's always about LeBron.
I don't know.
He found a way to make it about himself when he didn't have to be so as much as he can say whatever he wants
he'd like he relished being the face of the absolutely and it was hugely
beneficial financially marketing everything that be in the face of a
league you get a lot out of it it's tough
it's not always easy but there's
it did mean something in
uh... you know he tried to downplay that last night dear hazy be later in the hour least
Rangers tonight here is the former captain of the Rangers from ESPN. Here's Ryan Callahan back on overdrive. How you doing Ryan?
What's going guys? How you doing? I heard you talking. I brought me after some NBA talk
Lucas transition and JJ Reddick's coaching style.
We won't get into that.
In terms of the Rangers, I mean on the outside looking in, we're trying to get a read on
what this team's all about and whether or not they're going to make the playoffs or
not.
I guess we'll start there.
Do you have belief that they'll find a way to get in?
Yeah, I do.
I've kind of been saying this all along that I thought they would find a way to get in. Um, I just, I mean,
I look at that roster and it's hard for me to, with the skill they have,
you know, that same core that won the president's trophy last year,
went to the conference finals. Um, you know,
I think three of those games are one goal games,
end up losing against Florida. You know, that could go either way.
It's hard for me to believe that same core basically, you know,
can't get into the playoffs this
year with that talent and also the edge just sturkin' in that.
Where they sit now, I think they're four points out or something like that with a game in
hand on Columbus, but I still believe that they can do it.
You have over 20 games left and who knows what happens at the trade.line.
A lot of teams are a lot different so
you know i but i i still believe in them i think they're way too talented to not
you know figured out by the way to get in
so what's been the issue cali i mean they'd
the starts of the season with the gong show with the truth of stuff and then
he's shipped out
and it's just like it never they've had glimpses and they've had stretches but
that's kind of it as a dominant team the past several years like what what do you
think's happened there? Yeah I think you hit on two of the main points I mean a
little bit of a gong show of what happened with Truba in the summertime
that comes in you know he's your captain and then you know everything happens
with with Kreider and you know they come out and they say they might be trading him or is a Ben Savannah
Jad
It's on the market as well. I'm in Crider
And you know, I mean you guys know New York
It's it's it's old getting answer those questions every day, right?
and that can wear on a player can wear on a team and I think the other thing you said was
consistency, you know, they've shown flashes of it, but
haven't been able to have a stretch
where they've put it together and to be able to sit here and say this is the exact reason
why, I don't know. But I can guarantee you the noise around it, things aren't going
good, they expect to come in, they have high expectations, they try to make another run
at trying to make it to the finals or conference finals again.
You know, that can wear on you as a team
and when you don't meet those expectations
and they haven't, right?
So, you know, I think JT Miller coming in
has given them a big boost.
You know, I know Millsy well, played with him in New York
and played with him in Tampa, you know,
and he can inject energy into that lineup
and into that room pretty quickly.
I think maybe that could be the change
that sets them on the right path
where it's just kind of a reset, okay?
Millsy comes in and you got a guy that comes in
that can put points up, he competes,
and maybe that's the reset they needed
and now they can make a push for the playoffs.
How does that all play out with JT Miller?
You know like guys get traded they they show up to a new dressing room and you know, it takes a little while sometimes
There's a feeling out process. You see who the voices are who's loudest who talks first who talks last
Does JT Miller just walk into that dressing room take a quick inventory and say okay
I got to do this this and that like how does that. How does that whole thing play out with him?
Yeah, I think vocally, I think you sit back a little bit and as you said, you kind of
assess and find out where your spot is on there.
I think the familiarity helps him getting traded there.
He knows the city, he knows some of the guys on the team, he knows some management, the
organization.
I think that makes that transition much easier.
For me, when I went to Tampa, I didn't know anything about, I really didn't even know
any guys on that team, to be honest with you.
So I come in as a captain and getting traded there, I remember for the first month at least,
just kind of sitting back and taking it all in and seeing how the team works and who's
vocal and who the leaders were and how the how the organization worked the city was everything right so I think for him
I don't think that adjustment period is as hard just being there before and in having that familiarity
But you know I don't think he came into the room and started barking orders right away
but
You know for a guy like milsy. I think you know he he'd get adjusted. He's confident in himself. He's confident in his game.
I think he adjusted there pretty easily.
With Ryan Callahan of ESPN, Leafs Rangers tonight.
Matt Rempey is still a name that kind of rings out whenever a visiting team plays the Rangers.
One of the first questions is, is Rempey playing?
And if so, how is the opposing team going
to react?
And I guess Berube has decided to react by putting Ryan Reeves in the lineup tonight.
I'm anticipating a go.
I could see a fight tonight at the Garden.
But Renpy, based on what you've seen out of him, having a guy like Reeves in the lineup,
does it change anything?
Does it keep his elbows down?
Has it made him make sure he hits guys on the shoulder as opposed to on the numbers?
Have any of these heavyweights on the opposing teams actually had any effect on the way Rempey's
played?
Yeah, I don't think it changes the way he plays, but I do think that having another
heavyweight and there's far fewer in between in the league anymore, um, definitely gets a guy's attention pretty quickly. You know, I can guarantee you that
Rempe, you know, looks at that lineup card and he sees his reeves on it and you know,
he knows that he might have to answer the bell tonight with him. So I think it definitely
gets in the back of his mind. Um, you know, do I think he's not going to be finishing
checks because of it? No, but, um, I's thought about, you know, and I've been impressed with Rempe
and his growth in the, you will call it two years that he's been in the league.
I know he's been up and down and in and out, but you know, from when he first came in to
now, I think he's starting to figure out a way to be effective.
You know, he's using his size, getting in front of the net.
He's getting on a forecheck
more than I've seen him early on, especially last year. I think he's just getting more
comfortable and confident in the league and making an impact on the game other than throwing
those big hits or whatever. There obviously is still that intimidation factor that you
have to know when he's on the ice. There's not a lot of guys in the league like that
anymore. You look at a guy like Tom Wilson Tom Wilson's like that, obviously a lot more skill and
you know he's very effective offensively but you know I remember playing against guys like
that where you know you look the lineup and you're like okay Tom Wilson's on the ice.
When I jump over the boards I know he's on the ice because at any point he could be hitting
me, I got to keep my head up you know and that's always in the back of your mind.
I think Rempey's bringing that element to the Rangers where, you know, you know, he's
in the lineup.
So, you know, you do got to look over your shoulder every once in a while because he's
going to finish his checks.
And you know, when you play on that line as well, like I hate to see those hits and those,
you know, you don't want anybody to get hit dirty, but I'll tell you what, then guys are
a little bit nervous.
You know, you're like, is he going to hit me clean?
You know, you know, do you take that extra second or do you get the puck away quicker because you
know he's on the ice and you know he's going to come at you and his size and his elbows
are up and everything else.
So you hate to see those plays, but I think it definitely, you know, when you're out there
and you're throwing the body like he does or, you know, other guys do, the other team
thinks about it.
Kelly, what do you think about that team across the river the Devils there's there was a couple times this year
I watched them their goaltender was not hurt. He was playing well their D core came together
and it looked like they kind of had everything do you still see them as like a
Contender when they get everybody back in the lineup. Yeah, I don't think if I go as far as a contender.
If you look at the East, I almost think that they're a little bit into that second tier.
But another team, when they're playing like they can, they're so effective.
And I know Markstrom has been out, but goaltending, I feel like, hasn't been a huge issue for
them through this stretch.
They definitely have to be better defensively,
I think, is a big part of that.
And you know, that it's kind of a team where you kind of scratch your head because you
know what they can be.
You've seen it.
And again, you know, it's that word consistency.
Can they find that?
But, you know, as I look at New Jersey now, I don't look at them as a contender for the
cup this year, but it's a team that can win a round or two, absolutely.
I think health is a big thing too, obviously, for them and some of the guys they've missed
throughout the year.
Is it only a matter of time for Miko Rantinen until he starts scoring for Carolina, or is
it just going to be a bad fit and the system doesn't work? Like where do you see Miko Ranton and going here with Carolina? Yeah I think
you look at Ranton and how good he is as a player and how effective he is. I mean
I think it's a matter of time right? You know and some guys they get traded and
they adjust right away and they jump into a system and a team and find a spot
and start producing and some guys it takes longer you know and I think he's
just one of those guys that it's gonna take a little bit longer to get adjusted.
And talking about ranting and in Carolina
and hearing the trade talks
or potentially getting traded,
I mean, that's just a complete hide-scratcher for me,
for Carolina.
You trade a guy like Natchez away,
you bring ranting in,
and I get you don't want to you know lose
them for nothing if he's not going to sign there but how do you go from
because Carolina you look at this they have to think they're a contender this
year right you know that they're right there last couple years they have to
think they're a contender you know how do you go from trading natus away
getting ranted and then trading ranted in the way like you just made your team
much worse right as you go down the stretch,
and I know you don't wanna lose them for nothing,
but I think you have to keep them as a rental,
at least if he won't resign there.
And another question I have,
and I don't have the answer to is,
I'm very surprised that Carolina made that trade,
knowing sending Nacius, who was on a friendly deal,
he was producing
without knowing if Rantan would resign there.
And you can do that. And, you know, you could ask permission to Colorado, you know, we'll make this
trade, but we need to talk to random first to see if we're as numbers that if
he has interest resigning here, if that's the spot he can think he could be.
So, you know, I don't know if those conversations happen, but it's hard for
me to believe that clearly wouldn't, wouldn't have done that without making that trade
Yeah, and it doesn't appears if they did and you know, I guess played pretty well last night
You know Carolina got themselves a win, but I don't know
We're not sure what what kind of activity to expect between now and Friday
That's been a pretty consistent theme the last couple days up here Ryan is
There's all these teams now that you know are kind of in the mix and as a result teams
that that don't want to make trades. You know, not everyone can make the playoffs like the Rangers.
They're not going to be sellers, but Boston, Detroit, Columbus, Ottawa, only two of them are
going to make it. You know, three of them aren't going to make it. So you got to make up your mind
between now and next Friday. Yeah, I think you have to look at yourself too. And then, you know, three of them aren't going to make it. So you got to make up your mind between now and next Friday.
Yeah. And I think you have to look at yourself too. And then, you know, as an organization, as a team, is it, you know, or is it worth making,
you know, being in the first round and losing out in the first round?
Or are we trying to build towards the future?
And are we still on this rebuild plan? Like, you know,
you kind of look at Philly last year, remember that right at the deadline there,
they were close to the playoffs kind of in that bubble area, and they said, you
know, we have a plan here.
We're going to rebuild, and they started trading some guys away.
And you know, so you have to look at that, but you're right.
I mean, it's so tight, especially in the east of who could be in and who could be out.
It's going to be interesting but you know I anticipate some moves I mean at least I hope I'd felt there is some now what now
that I'm no longer a player I you know I like those trades I know I like watching
it and seeing guys go to different spots but it's definitely bunched up but I
think teams have to you know take a look at the organization and we're the goals
you know as a goal to win a Stanley Cup or is the goal to, you know, make the first
round?
You know, and some teams are different.
There's some teams that want to make the first round and bring in some revenue and, you know,
get the fans excited about making the playoffs.
And so I guess it just depends on the organization and their path forward.
Absolutely.
Leafs Rangers tonight at MSG.
Enjoy that.
Ryan, we always appreciate you doing this.
Thank you. Absolutely, guys. Have a good night.
There he is, Ryan Callahan. And you look at the updated trade bait board, TSN's trade
bait board. At number one is Brock Nelson, Center, 33 years old. He's a UFA after this
year. They got Brock Besser at number two and Miko Rantanen at number two nico ranton in at number three
gel of seeing
braden shannon for scott lot in at five
three pending uf a's three centerman
you know it's those are
impactful players there
you know it's
at this same time you know unpredictability in terms of what's
going to happen because
Lou Lamarello and Brock Nelson who knows like Lou you can't get a read on what the hell he's gonna do
The Canucks I think want to keep that sir. They offered him five years apparently five years eight million
But seems reasonable her eight million that that's the report
It's a lot of money here five five years
And if he scoffed at that that is completely insane man. Yeah, I mean listen
That's that's the report like that. I don't know like but I think if you're Brock Besser
You got to take that deal all day long all day long definitely 40 million dollars
Definitely good player can score has had health issues.
But he's also not, like the thing about Brock Besser, he's not in the upper echelon of
forty goal scorers.
Like, he's a thirty goal scorer who scored forty once.
You know what I mean?
So like, if he's getting eight million dollars, I think like, you gotta take that and run,
man.
I agree.
Run, dude.
That's, if that deal's there and he's not taken it that might be telling that crew you gotta move
like that might be why they would move off him
uh...
at the same time the stone the playoffs
click that cover
it still salvage a playoff spot this year
uh... but if you move up as sir you've already moved off miller
you don't know if them go like it's, it's really, there's a lot of moving
parts out there. What are you going to do with Elias Pettersson?
Vancouver's got no chance with, without a number one centerman, which they don't have
because he's not playing anywhere near his capability. They got no chance this year.
Basically, they're just trying to grab the two, they're trying to grab the two home playoff
games. That's what it is.
Yeah.
Like what are the chances that this at least peterson
goes through the summer
whatever happens this year happens
any all the sudden wakes up the summer and shows but back up at camp and he's
the old elite like what do you handicap the chances of that at
who fit in the jury
fifty four percent as the majority
uh... under what basis are you making that person john if he's hurt
and that's what's causing all of this
when you get a little out of that by now instead i don't know i i guess i guess
but that's that's the only thing i can think of
if he's hurt and he has a a long summer and he gets to rehab
and gets in the jim and does everything they need him to do
i just don't think he's a supremely talented player i don't think i'll be
a lot of that
we were talking about yesterday frank like it's it's gone
yeah right now he had no shots on net last night zero shots on that
like he is that he's just the shell of them of his former self but it's
it's been a calendar year
yes but what's scary is, again, it's carried over
over two different years, you know what I mean?
That's scarier for me than just one awful year
where everything goes bad.
Last year in the playoffs, it was so loud around that guy.
So loud, how he was just doing nothing for them
and they were still winning.
And the Canucks handed him all that money and he seemed to get so pissy as soon as that
happened.
Ever since he signed.
That's been the issue.
Yeah, it's like, sorry for giving you all that money, pal.
Like, are you really that upset about it?
Right.
It's just a weird vibe all around him and he's created a lot of it himself.
I mean, listen, I would bet on the guy, he's going to be better than this.
This is wild. The run he's on right better than this, you know, like this is wild like the run
He's on right now is it's wild. What's going on with him? He's gonna bounce out of it
The question is Frankie does he bounce out and become a 30 goal 75 point guy because that's not what he's paid to do
They all he's paid you're having that we've been having the heart conversations
You get paid that money at that position to fight to be
Nominated for a heart at least once over the run of your career, right? I totally thought he was gonna do that. I
I would have thought the same, you know five years ago like when he showed up as a rookie
I would have thought this guy can definitely be nominated and maybe snatch one
even last year be shocking the first half of that season last year, you look at that guy and say, I'll take him in
a matchup situation, I'll take him on the power play on the half wall, I'll take him
five on five.
There's a lot of situations where you look at it and say, I love everything that guy
brings to the table.
For it to just fall off a cliff like that, it's crazy.
You wonder where it went, that's why i i go in
the slight majority because i'm like
there's got to be something that's just holding this guy back and i don't know
if it's a change of scenery or a battery and i might be some majority if you tell
me is planned somewhere else
like if you you tell me a lies peterson is playing somewhere else next year
i might be in the majority that he bounces back.
But now you've got to market, it's such a pendulum swing how people are feeling about
him out there.
I don't know if him and the coach are on the same page.
There's a lot that goes into play on that.
But the trade bait board is going to be updated consistently between now and next week.
Seth Jones is on there obviously.
You've got Brandon Tanev, Chris's brother out in Seattle.
Did you guys hear what we're doing for the trade bait board this year?
You heard about this?
What's the plan?
No, what do we got?
We got a touch screen this year just like John King on CNN on election night. Wow. Touch the screen one to five, six to 10,
scouting reports, bio boards, video playing John King.
We can't. That's the only thing I'm not sure about the zoom in because I would
love to like, you know, operating this thing. You, I'm operating this thing.
Wow. It's the, I'm John King this year with the touchscreen.
I'm going to tell you who won in Broward County in
2016 2020 2024 and who can help your time when a Stanley Cup? I love it. I love it
Who's playing wolf blitzer and just blitzing you with questions?
I don't know right in your face like wolf blitzer and could be Lin fathering
Maybe maybe Lindsay wouldn't bother you Lindsay wouldn't bother me. She wouldn't she wouldn't be like wolf blitzer could be lindsey fathering baby and lindsey wouldn't bother you and she wouldn't bother me she wouldn't she
wouldn't be like wolf
but uh...
okay i like it right
jill get craig up there
craig you run out of john king special
but we'd be happy to do that would be great is move guys in and out
put out different players on different teams right
so we're talking about here kinda like the whole whiteboard and
it's and i will we'll see it you'll see a look at different teams right so we're talking about here, kind of like the whole white board and
it's all that stuff.
Yeah, well you'll see it, you'll see it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Alright.
It's a touch screen.
I like it.
It's a touch screen.
I'm looking forward to it.
We've got technology and stuff.
Technology and stuff.
Rick, you know, technology and stuff.

this one has
Been long overdue and we need to get to it immediately. Okay
has been long overdue and we need to get to it immediately
dear hazy b my sister was showing me the dating app that she's on when i
looked one of the profiles that it showed
was for a guy named josh
a k a
doogie
she said he looks cute should she initiate a combo with them question
mark or should she initiate a combo with them question mark
or should she avoid this set all costs
please
frankie you want to take the floor on this sir yeah i do key is such a
sweetheart of a guy he's such a kind hearted gentleman he's thoughtful of
course you initiate a conversation with our guy. Does
he wear a little too much cologne? Absolutely. Does he mix the colognes? For sure. But he's
gonna get the door to the car when you go on the date. He's gonna get your chair and
he's gonna treat you like the queen that you are. That's our guy Doogie. He's a gentleman
and he's a class act. That is our guy Doogie. Now I will say I know Doogie
Professionally very well and I would give him a 10 out of 10
Yeah, but dude, you've never been around do I don't know what if you privately now as well
What if you get to a boss and pizza and he's hanging off by the ceiling at 11?
That's my concern. That would be the only asterisk i would say
right here would you like to chime in do you have any other issue that is their
concerns that anyone should be worried about
not at all
i agree with everything you've you said there boys i i appreciate the comments
and the uh... the interest from the uh...
the person out there alright so you're asking for her to swipe right are you
saying you would swipe right as well do you like her do you have certain standards when it comes to your own swiping?
Not many stands. If she's interested and wants to get in the mix, then send it over.
How many different apps are you surfing around on?
Currently none. It's been a while since I've been on those apps, but there might have to be a dip back in well
Doogie what if there's like an inbox just kind of overflowing in one of these apps like is that something you need to entertain at?
this point
Possibly like it might pay for these do you know they're all free. They're all free
Are you interested in in a bachelor?
They're all free. Okay.
So Doogie, are you interested in a bachelor type of a week where we do the final rows
and you present the final rows and come to a Leaf game with me and Hazy B?
That could be a very good possibility and an excellent idea.
Okay.
Well, you're not going to have a choice in it one way or the other.
We're doing it.
We're doing it.
But I'd like you to have a positive attitude towards it.
And experience.
And I know you're committed to the show.
Yes, sir.
And committed to being a great guy. So we will support Doogie. And absolutely, your
sister should swipe right and see what happens. I mean, I can't give you a guarantee that
Doogie will reciprocate. He's talking as if he's got no filter, but I think he's got a
filter, right? I think he's got a type and I think he's got a type and I think he's a
tough one to get swiping right on but we'll see. All right, Doogie's date will be established
over the next few weeks. It's going to happen.
Dear Hazy B, I'm in a tough spot. My wife and I are expecting our first child at the
end of April. My best friend, my best man is getting married in June and he's doing everything he can to
make sure I can be at his bachelor party, scheduling it for late May, three weeks or
so after the baby is scheduled to arrive.
Preliminary discussions with my wife have been rocky at best.
I'm hoping everything goes smoothly with the birth and there's no complications But even then convincing her that a weekend away with the boys is a good idea is an uphill battle
What is the move hazy B?
How do I ease her mind that I'll be taking off for a couple days or am I destined to just beg for forgiveness?
For the foreseeable future. Yeah, this is one that we can all relate to, right?
We've all had young children.
We've all had the due date circled.
Very, very important time in your life,
special time in the life.
There's nothing quite like it.
But if we're talking three weeks after,
three to four weeks after, by that point,
Plenty of time.
You've settled in, all right?
You've settled in a little bit. and i understand it could be an uphill battle
but i'm
i think you gotta step up here for the best man
like that that's ultimately what it comes down to as well like this is
there are certain things in life that happened very very
uh... you know few and far between
one of them is the birth of a child another one is a bachelor party where
you're the best man quite frankly you going to have more kids than you are going
to have best man scenarios. I think that's the sales pitch. I think you've got to step
up and you've got to bite the bullet and you've got to be there. You've got to make it clear
that you're going to own it leading up. You're going to own it coming home. No airport drop
off or pickup. It's all on you. Don don't even think about an airport pickup smarten up
It's on you you figure it out and make sure when you come back
You're not gonna be feeling great that first morning
You're the first one up and you're at it and you're doing the whole thing
And you gotta realize that's what's coming. You got to rely on your own mom or your mother-in-law
That's a big one, too
To just say you know what I'm on the left fly in I'm gonna pop out of the sky like Rambo when he went and saved
The POWs and you got to get in there and you're gonna say I take care of everything. Yep
That's right. Take care of everything orders in advance all of it
You take your mom and your mother-in-law out to lunch and say guys
This is big. Can you help me out here?
And they will they cannot wait to help out and you could also pull a maneuver
That is the Gretzky of all parenting maneuvers
You get up with one of your friends that has a nanny and says do you mind if I bum the nanny for?
has a nanny and says do you mind if I bomb the nanny for a for I think it's a swingers type atmosphere where you're not borrowing nannies I don't know that
happens just say look you can do that Tim and Sarah are going on vacation
they're going on vacation their nanny is free for a week I've already arranged
that she comes over brilliant move I never would have thought of that that's
why it's the Gretzky play
You got the PhD. Yeah, that is the Gretzky of moves
That's like you're all set life's about moments man like it all the way on a like it like either for the birth
Gotta be yes, the most important thing is but I
Yes, that's very important stuff one thing to keep in mind with this guy
This is his first child
So at the end of the day she can still play a man-on-man
And if you bring in the reinforcements you're playing a zone where you're outnumbering the opposition this guy's in very good shape
He's in very good shape very bad for a party even tougher with the second one
You got a you got a toddler running around exactly
Very good point friend three weeks into, not much you can do anyways.
You're just a cheerleader.
It's going to be a pretty quick reality for you.
Gotta be supportive, gotta have a great attitude.
But go do your thing.
Have a great time.
Check in when you're supposed to check in.
Grow up.
Be a man.
Do your thing.
All right.
Dear Hazy B, we have a friend group in our early thirties and one guy started
bringing around his uncle scotty
you can tell he's really well off by the way dresses and acts and he's a pretty
cool dude fits into the group and
does like to have a good time
uncle scotty is starting to big league us all paying for everything at all
times in picking up the bill at every outing Uncle Scotty is starting to big league us all, paying for everything at all times and
picking up the bill at every outing.
Some of the girls in the group are taking a liking to Uncle Scotty who is significantly
older than everyone else even though he does run in high circles.
There's been exchanges over DMs including invitations to dinner dates
conferences around the world and
Vacations how do we deal with old uncle scotty because the fellas have had about enough?
Well it sounds like the classic old story when
Scotty was great to have around when he was paying for your stuff and now Uncle Scotty's got his eye on something else and you're realizing Uncle Scotty had other
plans.
So do you think it's greasy to want to punt and put Uncle Scotty in a headlock and stuff
him in a garbage can?
I don't think so.
I don't think so because Uncle Scotty, you know, he's coming in and I'm sure he's showing
everyone the love.
You know, I got these drinks, I got those drinks.
Now these guys are in their 30s.
That to me is a little bit suspicious, right?
Like I get it if you're in your early 20s and you don't have any money.
Some group of friends, they don't all get married at 27 or like some people get married
at 35.
No, I understand that.
But at some point someone else could probably pick up the bill is what I'm saying.
How about that?
You know, allow Scotty to come around. come out of the big league guy words i had a
little bit touch it
yeah well that one stuff that i i mean i guess if you have the answers very
simple if you're comfortable with that or if he started sniff around different
areas of the friend group that you're not really loving
you gotta kick him to the curb
very simple
like it'll go find a different
you know the question about how do you tell your buddy, his uncle,
like you have to go to one of your buddies, like me going up to you,
Hayes saying, tell your uncle to take a lap. Like it's not exactly an easy,
you can massage it though. You can just say, Hey, you know, you, you,
you gotta be, I guess, gentle and delicate with the scenario,
but I don't think it's that difficult because, you know,
I think there's two ways you do it
there's two ways you do this
you can either be upfront and honest which is usually the best way of doing
things
or you just have some like passive aggressive remarks and just kind of
needle your buddy to the point where he's like
i gotta get rid of uncle scotty because i'm taking so much shrapnel here from
these guys and i can't take it anymore
it's like one or the other for me.
Exactly, you can lean into him and be like,
oh, there's old Uncle Scotty.
Uncle Scotty's back again.
Start calling him Uncle Scotty.
That'll drive your buddy nuts too, right?
And yeah, just lean into him and get the message across.
At some point, he's just going to realize
this has got to come to an end.
It's simple.
He brought him in, everything was all good. Now it's not. He's got to come to an end it's simple like you know he brought him in everything was all good now it's not
he's got to go I was not a guy needs to though I think it's just a step up your
game why don't you start well you could do that also flow some invite like these
guys can ride with the the big dogs I think they're embarrassed because they
realize they got no game and some of them are eyeing some of the friends in
the friend group as more than just friends and it's all being just snuffed
out in front of them and they're pissed. Yeah, possibly. Dear Hazy B, driving to
Florida March 13th will be driving right past TPC Sawgrass Friday morning. How do
I convince the wife to pull off the highway and watch Tiger, assuming he's playing, even for a couple of hours, two-year-old daughter with us too?
Doable?
Ooh, I don't know, man, because you've been there. That's like Jacksonville area. That is not a place that you're really dying to go see.
That's kind of panhandle lives.
Dude, he's only going into one place and that's sawgrass
Right, and I guess what I'm saying is
Is is TPC is the players? I guess it's a coveted enough event where you can claim
It's a bucket list item. You know I think that lands. I think bucket list items land You, like if your wife understands and appreciates
you're a huge sports fan or a huge golf fan, I don't think Tiger's going to play in it.
I don't think he's playing in it.
I think you're going to see him probably at the Masters.
That's probably it.
Like, because the last two or three years we've been asking that, think he'll play the
players or got to play the players.
He never plays the players.
He's not playing at the Ernie Palmer this week.
You know, and how's his game going to set up there?
I don't know.
I'd like to see him there, but I'm not convinced it will happen.
I honestly don't know if you can pull this one off.
The only way you can pull it off is if you convince her that it's a bucket list item
you have to have.
But there's nothing else in that neighborhood that I'm aware of where you can say, let's
go to Sawgrass for a few hours and then we'll go over here and
Check this out because it just it's not a great part of the state
Well for that kind of stuff. I think this is where the transaction comes into play
You got to plead your case you talk about the bucket list how cool this is all that stuff
And if you're gonna spend four to five hours on the property
You budget that and you say when we get back to wherever you live wherever you are
You're going to the four seasons all day. You can spend six hours there
You get the massage you get the facial you have a heyday there
But I need to be at sawgrass for this and it's a transaction
Okay, I mean you're getting three tickets a two-year-old running around sawgrass. Is that what we're saying here, too?
That's dangerous. I'm not really gonna enjoy. Yeah, that's a dangerous game
I just want to get to this one. I don't know. I don't think it's gonna work
But go ahead I got it go I get it cuz this there's these creepers
Oids at golf courses all over the place and I want to deal with this one dear hazy B
I got paired with Kent at my home course last summer and after the round
we exchanged phone numbers.
He always asked to play and I only say yes if my regular golf buddies don't fill the
foursome which makes for awkward encounters on the range as Kent always seems to be right
there before we tee off.
I'm getting married this summer and we made this guest list.
I didn't even think of this guy. This week I got invited to his wedding and bachelor party who all know no one at.
Do I bring up adding this guy my fiance has never heard of or just leave the guest list
as is?
Oh, this is such an awkward scenario for everyone, man.
Dude, I think you've got to, this is harsh.
This is really harsh.
I think you've got to meet him at the club for lunch and say, we're not buddies.
Wow.
You know how hard that is, man.
If you have the stomach for that, I appreciate that greatly.
I think you have to say, we're not buddies.
I only let you play golf because you're asking, I don't think we're on a friendship level of doing weddings and stuff
I don't want to go to yours and you're not coming to mind
Well, I leave it I think you can just get out of I think you get out of the wedding, right?
You just say, you know, it doesn't work for us that weekend. So there's you could be much more delicate than having to you know
You're at a golf club. There's people like that
Uh, they're all over the place man. Yeah, there's there's a sea lurkers
There's tea sheet lurkers and they'll they'll dive into it an open spot and it can get awkward when yeah
You're like, oh man, we were just about to put someone else in that's a hat right there a tea sheet lurker
He should see their lurker crazy people man. Yeah, I got one of my buddies Mike
He'll write you'll literally if he sees the lurker
He'll hit the t-shot and get in the cart and and screw with the governor. So it speeds away. He's not doing it
I know it's awkward man. It is awkward when you get someone that jumps in and you're like, I don't what are we doing here?
I get it. It's a course. You just have the familiarity with your buddies. That's all it is. Yeah, you don't want the outside combo
I write so weird. I just can't do it. It makes me so awkward. I I'm in the same boat. I
agree with you
I think you just have to decline the invite don't have to give a reason to say it
sorry, we're already got things planned and then you just
kind of slowly
push away on a t-shirt you can mix in around or two a year you know that's fine you mix
in around or two you be nice you be cordial but that's where it's got to end it can't
be bachelor parties and weddings oh you definitely just cancel out and just say I'm not doing
it man sorry like yeah I know it's it's a weird kind of dynamic when you're out of it is like that
Yes
And by the way good spirits if this guy's a creepazoid like I think he is
You better not be teeing it that week because he'll have spotters out there looking. Oh, well, that's gonna happen
Yeah on a Saturday afternoon. He's gotta be like waiting at the end of the aisle checking his phone sent off
Oh that bastards at the course right now. I knew I knew he was like in the courses Instagram scene Oh yeah T in it this
morning Oh tea sheet lurkers man they'll be looking oh look at this guy he's got
a lot of turning they should all be in prison the teachers lurkers lurkers overdrive
continues TSN 1050 and on TSN 2.
