of the final score, Herm Edwards later in the hour, some waste management picks.
Right. I picked the winner last week.
I'm feeling good about it this week.
And I guess I get first pick with Scottie Scheffler, right?
I think that's probably how it has to go and Scottie's gonna be there and
Everyone's having a good time out there. You're gonna be there noodles in Phoenix or Scottsdale
I guess it is and it's gonna be a lot of fun. I'm gonna go for I don't know
I don't know what I mean. I got a buddy send a video. They're there and apparently it's already
I mean I got a buddy send a video there there and apparently it's already
Rocking so I don't I don't know what it'll be rocking and I don't think Zach Johnson is in the tournament this year
Thank God. Yeah, because he was so annoying last year. Well, let's be honest He was hearing it from the crowd, but he had to he had the audacity to go over and he was just like
Stop it. Just shut up
You can't shoot her McGavin the crowd man
But I think that was after it was following the Ryder Cup loss
Was it not yes everybody kind of hated Zach Johnson
It was like he had to have known that with that many people and how boozed up they were like it or not
He was gonna get something like it Absolutely,, he was going to get something like it.
Absolutely.
It carried over to Augusto.
Remember on 12 Green, he yelled when he missed that putt and they jeered him.
He was like, oh, he said something.
Yeah, he said, I'll bleep off.
Yeah.
Then afterwards, remember he acted incredulous.
What are you talking about?
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Oh, yeah.
He's like, I wasn't talking to the crowd.
I have no idea what you mean by that.
Everyone was like, dude, there was a hot mic. Yeah. It's like, Zach't I wasn't talking to the crowd. I know I do was like there was a hot mic
Yeah, it's like Zack. We know it was we know what you did man. We know what you said. Yeah, but it'll be a good tourney and
We'll get to that a little bit later in the hour again
Herman words coming up Darren Drager will join us leaves coming off a big win last night in
Calgary and a lot of leaf fans. That's always always the story we've been talking about it all week.
I do think the colors contrast more right like leaf colors and oilers colors if it's road blue
or whatever for the oilers and the Leafs like they kind of blend in a little bit more it's so much
more like pure like the blue and white or the red or whatever. I think it's gotten, I think in Canada, like I never remember and I played for the team,
I don't remember Toronto ever being a jersey market.
I really don't.
But I think it's in the last 10 years why it's like them visiting across the country
has become so much of a polarizing topic because I think in the last 10 years, like jersey
guy in Canada has really become a thing
Because I don't think it was when I met the Carolina every sports team everything is Jersey guy
But I remember thinking this doesn't this isn't Canada like this isn't a Canadian thing where people don't do the Jersey thing
But then it started to gather steam and that's why it seems like there's just so many more now.
I was reminded too, when you only go out west once, right? When you only get one opportunity.
We see this all the time. McDavid's coming to Toronto, you get one chance to see him. That's it.
You know, we'd like to see more.
People are building around it.
But that's exactly so. I was reminded the other day, like it's not just in Edmonton or in Calgary, we'll call
it Van too.
Like there's people come from Saskatchewan that drive in or from Lloyd Minnis, a lot
of small towns that come in, they get one chance to see their team and they're going
to drive eight hours and keep in mind the economics of it.
It's a lot cheaper to get a ticket in Calgary
or in Edmonton than it is in Toronto, to be honest.
So a lot of my buddies who are Leaf fans,
they don't care to see the Leafs in Toronto.
It's an experience, all of that.
They'll come to Toronto, do a, but they'll
want to see the Leafs somewhere else where they can actually
afford to get better seats and watch them. Toronto duo but they'll want to see the Leafs somewhere else where they can actually afford
to get better seats and watch them.
It's a cool experience to see your favorite team on the road.
It really is.
It's a different world, especially if you're from Toronto and what you're used to is going
down to see the Leafs play at home.
It is totally different.
But it was a good win last night.
William Nylander with three goals, goals except a thirty three on the year
what's the many jerry hits fifty
many jerry on a wednesday
neil andrew hits fifty on the season
i'll give sixty five percent right now
okay twenty nine games left these guys got a score seventeen and twenty nine
yeah i sixty five a little come'm a little lower on that what
is it just doing the numbers I'm sure of Joe from the bridge has done it what is
he on pace for is it just under 50 yeah I think it'd be 47 or something like that
yeah I mean and are you gonna play depends on where you are too in this
like standings who are you gonna play those last like couple like it
you know or are you going to chasing a spot like
i'm a little lower than you all i'm going to be forty nine percent i think
you can still achieve it but i'm i'm just
slightly under this a lot of goals it's a lot of what if these a big number man
like
fifty for him
is like seventy for matthews
you know like seventy was a crazy number clearly
he's never hit fifties only scored forty i think of the nose twice
so what happens with the leaves down the stretch of these are forty seven or
forty eight with two games left
is really planned twenty five minutes is he coming over the boards in every
possible scenario
i think it's possible.
Here's Darren Dreger, a TSN hockey insider.
What is your mini-Jerry on William Nylander hitting 50 goals this season?
It's a big number.
He's going to have to put a few more games together like he did last night against Calgary.
But based on the number
of opportunities that the man gets, I mean how can you dismiss it, right? And
you're just listening to you guys as I was coming into the segment, it would be
interesting to see how that's managed. He's right there, like he gets
within canon. You know, what sort of situations are you playing them in and
the game, all of that kind of stuff.
I mean, if there's an opportunity for a milestone, I'm pretty sure that Craig Barubei and the
Toronto Maple Leafs would do whatever is possible.
As long as it's within reason, then clearly you're not putting them in a bad situation.
Yeah, well, that's it.
And at the same time, last year, Matthews was chasing 70, didn't hit it.
The year before, Marner was sitting 100 points
You know like it has it's been a part of the conversation down the stretch the last two years with this team
You know what though just to jump in there guys, so are they this is what's interesting
It's a fine line because do they want personal?
You know accolades or they want to you know try and be ready for the playoffs and jump in.
That was the argument down the stretch last year, right?
That's right.
Playing those last two games and then they weren't available.
Was it Nylander who didn't start the playoffs?
Well, Willie was going for 100 points too.
You're right.
He was chasing numbers.
The year before, I think Marner agreed.
He took himself out of a game, I believe.
Yeah.
Pretty sure he did i think mitch said
okay a hundred points would be great but
so be it
uh... right
uh... last year though that did not happen
with that is a new
i mean the flip side is that is an obvious one to like you
you know willie gets that place
he's clearly on a heater
and he's feeling it
and i don't know why you want to interrupt that that level of momentum unless there's something that is slightly
nagging he needs that load management game or two or three but if this guy is
driving to that number I mean we've seen on a number of occasions what a
motivated William Nylander looks like and I would want that in game one of the
best of seven degrees. I would want him fully loaded and ready to go.
Dreggs we talked about Marner last night on the quiz and we had the whatever you
want to call it question with Ranton but as far as you love that question right
oh yeah what was the question? The question This was the quiz question.
Who do you think is a better fit next year on right wing?
Mitch Marner or Miko Rantanen?
But as far as Marner is concerned, Dreggs, all kidding aside, do you think his camp and
the Leafs are just confident or comfortable to just let this thing play out and then check
in when the dust settles
and said what are you thinking here?
Or if it gets to that point,
does it get a little bit greasier?
How do you think everything will play out?
Well, you know, there's time on the side of both here
because Mitch is never going to be a trade pawn
on March 7th, he's just not, right?
And so I'm sure that the preference for Brad True Living
would be that Darren Farris, who represents Miner,
gives him a call and says,
hey, why don't we get together
when you get back off the road
and let's have a conversation.
You know what the cap projections are
for the next three years?
And year two and year three are somewhat written,
as they say say in pencil.
I'm not really sure what that means. How much is it going to be adjusted?
Probably not a whole lot.
You know, the Players Association League aren't signing off on that
and releasing it the way that they did last Friday unless they're reasonably sure.
Aaron, is it a conversation ender if the Leafs say,
we're taking kind of the stance of Colorado and we don't care about projections is that a conversation ender no no I don't think it is but I think
that Brad would would want to know what Marner's stay-home number is and you
know what you know he probably has in his own mind along with everybody
associated with that management group and everybody that invests the time that they do in crunching the numbers, they have a percentage number
of what makes sense and frankly I don't know what that is. I'd be surprised if it was lower
than 13 million dollars times eight and that's Toronto's stomach. So how much more is Mitch
going to get on the open market?
Maybe a lot more if he wants to play outside of his hometown and in a market that, you know,
isn't or with a team that isn't as close to winning the Stanley Cup that he's currently
with the Toronto Maple Leafs, surrounded by what we assume are a collection of his buddies in a core.
So look, I mean, there's, again,
there's, there's still time, but now the cap projections are there. It sort of throws out,
you know, you know, if, if Ferris's position, and this is a bit of his MO, and I'm not being
critical, it's the way he does business. He likes to march his top free agents to free agency when
given an opportunity. So when you look at
this year, you look at Marner, you look at Sam Bennett, you represent Sam Bennett. Well,
they've done a lot of negotiating in Florida. It's a bit weird that Sam Bennett is kind
of last man standing, isn't it? You know, when you think of the extensions that have
been afforded and what Bennett brings to the Florida Panthers. And I also get, you bring up Colorado,
you know, at some point as an organization,
you do have to be willing to cup-bake.
And I still don't believe what has been speculated
on Miko Ratlin.
I don't think that they ever got to a place
where there was a hard line,
this is the highest we're going to pay you.
I'm sure there were conversations that were hinting towards that but it never got
to that point and who knows I mean Chris McFarland the avalanche may learn to
regret those decisions in the not-too-distant future where we're gonna
find out but I think that the heat turns up in Toronto after the four nations
and maybe the media heat turns up. Yeah. I think the media has been real good to Miner and to Vars.
They've respected those scrums.
You're not going into a scrum in January asking Miner
if he's engaged in contract negotiations yet.
But, did you get close to March 7th?
Isn't that a fair question to ask?
He's not gonna like it, but I just,
it's an interesting one, especially now with the cap projections.
I think that there should be a higher level of expectation from the Toronto Maple Leafs
during his group to bring them what that package looks like so that the Leafs can digest and
then make an educated call.
Well, don't you think too, I mean you guys had it on the quiz last night, you got me
thinking.
So you know you've got a scenario where you've got some money coming off the books and again
this is all have to play out with how much success you have in the playoffs here.
So you know you go deep into the playoffs and Marner is a big part of it then you want
it.
But if things pivot the other way, I mean take a look at who's available you know would you Mitch Marner and John Tavares or Sam Bennett and Miko Rantanen
you know that's like that yeah I mean that's that's what you could be in on technically
so you are the quiz master like we've never truly examined or outed the quiz master noodle
so you're just pretty much saying
that you're the guy
uh...
uh... just admit it is breaking up
that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that
that
well i think you are out here
into the market though not here again to the problem it would be a real
market
they go we have to be sure that Nico Ratanen, you know, if he doesn't extend in Carolina is
100% you know, I mean look, there are going to be a number of teams that go down that road with
Ratanen if he gets July 1st and in their own way, shape and form, they'll find a way to get that
message conveyed to him before July 1st. That's just the way the business operates, right? So if he decides that Toronto
is an option, yeah, I mean, that's what's going to make it really super challenging
or a benefit. And I'm sure that that true loving and his group have had those conversations
multiple times. But I'm going to back up a little bit here too. I that that true loving in his group have had those conversations multiple times
But you know, I'm gonna back up a little bit here, too I think that true living in the Maple Leafs have a high level of respect for what Mitch Miner brings to the team on a nightly
basis
Like everyone else they would want and they would expect that the playoff numbers are going to change this year
That maybe needs to be a must even though you don't have the luxury of that.
And that's not a determining factor
going into the negotiation.
I honestly think, if Miner came in and said,
here's my hard number, and it's 13-2-5,
whatever that number is times eight,
Toronto might sign it,
because that's how much they value the kid,
and the fact that they'd like as much as anyone
to have his statue out front of the building.
Hometown guy, all of that, but that's up to the player.
And if they don't engage between now and March 7th of the playoffs, this conversation about
Mika Ramlin, if he hasn't extended Sam Bennett, Tavares go down the list, it's going to get
more loud and more loud and more loud.
And that's just going to make things more uncomfortable for Marner and the group.
Well I do find it interesting the conversation of how much weight playoff success is actually
going to have on their plans.
Because this is why I think a lot of...
It should be a lot, Hayes.
Well it should be, but I don't know. Like Drex I don't know like drags cancel. It can't right? How about it? Well, why wouldn't it though? Why wouldn't it?
Well, because it's July 1st the playoffs are over like you don't have the luxury of that advantage at last, you know, like
Again, that's why we're even having this pine this guy Niko Ratner and Sam Bennett all that
They give all those players are in the same swimming pool
on July 1st, okay, all bets are off.
All bets are off because at that point,
Meyers decided that he wants to really see
what that open market is going to show him,
both in location and in dollars.
Can only get seven years, but in dollars, right?
And the money will be there.
Of course it's going to be there for Mitch Meyers,
a world class player.
But how much does it mean to stay in your hometown
and try and continue to win the Stanley Cup?
And I don't think that Toronto's gonna low ball, Meyers.
I really don't.
I think they're happy to get into that negotiation
and get it done sooner than later
well that's what i'm saying like a
again these guys
have collectively been here for a long time and it is two different ways you
can view it the valuation of the player
but also the the court not that has been a part of the opposite yeah
forever and that's why they go the the
that chatter has been muted in large part because I think the market
is waiting for the playoffs.
And whether it's Marner, Tavares, both of them, how do you play individually, but also
how does the team do?
Let's say Marner is just unbelievable through set plays great, but they lose again.
Like that's what I'm wondering.
Does it matter at all?
Because if it doesn't, then if you're the Leafs, you might as well call now.
Get it done before the playoffs.
That serves your interest because then whatever happens in the playoffs is irrelevant, evidently,
because you just want to make sure you keep the players.
And I'm in the camp, Brian, just to interject here.
I am in the camp.
And look, obviously Colorado wasn't. Colorado was was worried that Mika random was going to get hurt
They made a decision with my car coming up that they couldn't afford to have McKinnon mccarr and Mika random
They just finance they couldn't make it work. And then maybe that's a
Multi-billion dollar owner who doesn't want to spend a hundred and fourteen billion dollars on his salary. Okay, so they made that call
I'm in the camp that believes that okay spend $114 million on his salary. Okay, so they made that call.
I'm in the camp that believes that, okay, you're not gonna trade Mitch, obviously you're not.
If he decides that the grass is greener somewhere else,
okay, reinvest his 13 plus million dollars.
And then that's where it gets tricky for management
because it's not that simple.
You don't bring in one player, but maybe you bring in two.
And if you've got the Tavares money on top of that, that's 11 shmul, clean off the docket.
And then you have a conversation about Morgan Reilly.
Like if you really want to, you know, that's when you hit the core of the Maple Leafs if,
big if here, they don't do well in the playoffs.
You reinvest the money in the free agents
and you make a decision on your blue line
and whether or not you move forward with Morgan Reilly
or now's the time to consider what a change might look like
and what a trade value might be.
Darren, what's the situation with this kid
and Buffalo cousins?
I mean, are people, do they have an inflated sense
of this kid?
I mean, Hayes, you brought up a stats that two years ago, he scored 30 goals, did he
not?
Yeah, 30 goals, 68 points or something.
But if he like if he leaves, like the Buffalo is just going to say we got nothing down the
middle.
So it kind of doesn't make sense there.
Like, do you have any idea what's going to go down in Buffalo?
Well, you know, every year we have one of those players and I'm not saying that Dylan Cousins isn't going to go down in Buffalo? Well, you know, every year we have one of those players, and I'm not saying that Dylan
Cousins isn't going to be traded.
Like there's enough smoke around this kid that maybe somebody makes the right offer
to Kevin Adams and the Sabres where they just have to find a way to pull the trigger.
But every year we've got that young player that sort of doesn't make sense and i still think fellows i think it and i know kevin adams is feeling calls
on dylan cousins
somatic
he's not shopping them
uh... he needs players and i tell roster players are going to help him now
not futures you know they'll be an element of futures but predominantly
it's got to be roster players
but i think this all goes back to the speculation out of vancouver You know, there'll be an element of futures, but predominantly it's got to be roster players.
But I think this all goes back to the speculation out of Vancouver or wherever it came from
earlier in the year on Elias Patterson for Bo Byrom and Dylan Cousins.
And I just don't think it went away.
And I think that the more we in the media continue to swirl around it, that's going
to keep it alive.
You know, I'll admit you, there are 20 teams that have called on Dylan Cousins.
And Pierre LeBron reported on Calgary's interest yesterday in insider trading.
And internally, I poked at Pierre and Chris Johnson.
I'm like, okay, well, that's fine.
I can understand.
Calgary would like to beef up the middle of the ice.
Who's coming off that flames roster that's going to make that deal for baffling
against
you know they are the good young piece of pieces in is greg conroy willing to
throw into that deal to make it
uh... a real offer
that kevin adams consult the terry buddha
and i mean you don't do nineteen other teams evidently that are in the mix so
it's a curious one.
You know, I'm not so sure it's going to happen.
Well, you're, you're right.
I, I, the only thing I could think of is if it's a three way, you start moving, you know,
now it's a blockbuster, but there's three way, you know, there's players going to other
teams and maybe, you know, and that's where maybe the young players or something come
from. you know and that's where the maybe young players or something from but it it just to me i i think
i look at dylan cousins is a very interesting situation because
when team struggle
like gm's reach out going out you know what i'll take this guy off your hands
it's not working out like now that's
you know you see that
and his buffalo gun shy to let
you know and i'm cousins isn't Eichel, but you start letting
guys go that have left Buffalo that have gone on to having significant careers.
We've got a list of them and the Sam Ryan hearts and you know, you know, cops and yeah,
cops.
It's just, you gotta be careful because at some point you do have to have cornerstone
pieces regardless and they do.
Oh, you and Hayes were talking about it earlier they got
two first overall picks on the back end who are cornerstones and their corner
stones by where they got drafted Jamie not necessarily by what they do on the
ice yeah I mean that Dahlene I I think is a legit legit I think powers got to
turn a corner but I mean Dahlene you put him in a different setting I think he's
the problem is the setting man that's right like you
talked to florida about reinhart in vegas about i call in or been
st louis about a riley at boston about all mark
it you know how do you even evaluate i i could see where the other teams like
give me dylan cousins i'll make him a star and i'm he's gonna help me win
because it can't happen in buffalo the way they operate
now after terrible every sign here and he's going to help me win. Because it can't happen in Buffalo the way they operate.
They're terrible every single year.
I mean if I were the owner, I would, my marching orders to Kevin Adams and management would
be you're not moving anybody of substance. You can deal with your pending free agents
and all of that. I don't have any issue with that. We're not making a foundational trade. We're
not. Unless, you know, I have a group of people that are going to sign off on that. And that
speaks to a lack of trust. And I'm not suggesting that that exists. In fact, I know that Terry
Pagula still has deep trust in Kevin Adams. I guess what I'm saying is you can't keep
knee jerking.
Well, this coach isn't working, let's bring Lindy back, see how that goes.
And then it's this, and it's something else,
and it's something else after that.
Maybe they just need to go through a season where,
yeah, there's some changes, but we're not talking about
moving out significant pieces unless you've got
a contractual gun to your head and you've got no choice
Well, that's a different conversation. But that's why we're talking about here
We're we're talking about what should be the foundation of this team for years to come. All right tracks. We'll leave it there
We'll do it again soon. Thank you for this. God you guys got me all wound up here
It's a great time here a lot a lot going on
there's a lot going on man, it's a great time of year lot going on
Drex, Drex you should actually talk, we just talked about it here
we're gonna have an overdrive day
of charcuterie pictures sent to us for the Super Bowl
but O said that you spend the whole day, is it around Christmas or whatever?
Christmas Eve with the outdoor rinks
the outdoor rinks? this is our outdoor rink yeah yeah and she could or he's and all that kind of stuff I do it
I do it I'm not just made in this I meant let me know send the pic man well
do you retweet it it's very important stuff I'm sure you'll be elated by that
yeah watershed my thanks drags Darren Drager at TSN Hockey Insider. Yeah, it's going to be interesting
to see what happens here. We're closing in again on deadline, on playoffs, on what happens
with certain teams and certain players and contracts and all that good stuff. All that
good stuff.
Alright, Herm Edwards coming up. Best bet still to come, we'll get some golf picks in for the waste management, Phoenix open, overdrive continues, TSN 1058 on TSN 2.
Alright, best bet still to come, get some golf picks in, Super Bowl rapidly approaching,
every incredible playoff moment on TSN is powered by Bud Light, a refreshing taste that's
easy to enjoy, tuning game day for pulse pounding Action doogie has until 4 p.m. Tomorrow to establish what we're betting on on Friday
The spread will be a part of it the total there'll be props quarterback wide receiver running back
But we got a mix in a few others. I think it's mandatory. I think I have to and
We'll see what Commissioner Doogie has in store and we'll get It's just a weasel approach from a guy that's down three.
He's like, I need enough to get to be able to get in the lead.
It's a big game, man.
It's a big game.
You guys were spotting you a field goal.
It's the biggest game.
After Sunday, there's no more picks at all.
It's so bittersweet, man.
It's such a bittersweet day because the Super Bowl, it's so cool.
It's a big night, event always a cool game fun game
and you get through it you realize they're not playing it for seven
months
but you know we tell september
before they're playing football again
and so that's our reality
that's where it goes
that's where it goes
but uh... it is going to be I think it'll be a
great game. I really do. And I don't think the build up has been nearly as significant as in the
past because it's two teams we're familiar with. And it's a repeat of what we saw a couple years
ago, they're veteran teams, they're good teams, the spread is one and a half on FanDuel hasn't
moved at all. Like hasn't moved at all. Everyone's expecting it to be a really close game and I think a really good game and a guy
who's very familiar with playing in the NFL coaching in the NFL analyzing the
NFL from ESPN here's Herm Edwards joining us here on
overdrive how you doing Herm? I am well you mentioned both these teams are pretty much balanced as far as when you look at them
and what they've been able to accomplish this season.
They played in the Super Bowl against each other prior to this one and it was a very
close game as you mentioned.
It was 38-35 and it looks like this one will probably be the same, be a close football game.
Yeah, I hear you, Herm. Go ahead, O.
Herm, everyone that's been talking and referring to the Eagles say they have the best roster in football,
and on the other side of it you have the unstoppable guy in Mahomes.
Like, what are you going to lean towards? Are you
going to do the unthinkable and think that the best roster in football
according to all the pundits in the states or are you just going to go with
the guy that never loses? Well you know I'm kind of torn between both these
organizations obviously. I played in Philadelphia for all those years for almost 10 seasons and
actually the first Super Bowl we played in was in New Orleans so that's kind of
ironic. They're back in New Orleans playing another Super Bowl and we didn't
win so I've never liked that dome ever since. That's my issue and then my
first professional coaching job was with the Kansas City Chiefs.
So I'm just sitting watching this and looking at it a number of ways and the Eagles have
a really good roster, there's no doubt about that.
If they can play like they did against Washington, obviously they win the game.
If they play like they did the last time they
played the Kansas city chiefs in this game,
they'll end up on the wrong side of it again.
Turn the ball over for a touchdown and then allow Patrick Mahomes to have the
ball. You know, what, what minute 51 left and it's a tie football game.
Well, you can almost say, well, they're done, it's over,
and they're going to win three in a row now.
So I think it's going to be a very, very interesting football game.
I do know this, the Eagles go into this game in playoff competition with 10 takeaways.
They're not just interceptions, they're cause fumbles.
That kind of gets my eye.
They've done a nice job of taking the ball away, physically going after the ball as defenders
and taking it away from the ball carrier.
That's big.
And then the next thing is I think both these teams, when you look at them, they're four
down teams.
You got to play four downs.
The Kansas City Chiefs are 70% on fourth down and the Eagles are 73%.
So you're going to have to play four downs.
And you know that, you've got to be prepared for that.
And I think these are the things that kind of rear their head in a game like this, you
know, to little situational football situations.
And what's really scary for the Eagles, their place kicker, these
are just four kicks.
Three of them happen to be extra points.
That's not good.
No, it's concerning.
Something else that's concerning maybe gets a little bit more play on social media and
from the fans' perspective, Hermes, the officiating.
Where do you stand on where everyone's talking about officiating, where do you stand on where, you know, everyone's
talking about officiating and the NFL leans towards the Chiefs? What do you make of all
that?
Well, you know, that's what fans get to do. And that's fine. They have their opinion.
No, I don't get into that. I really don't. The officials, when you think about their
job, they never have a home game, they never have a home game. They
never have a home game. Whenever they walk in, it's not a home game for them. They're
just an official. They got to call it the way they see it. I think the game is fast.
It moves a lot faster than it did like 20 years ago, you know, 10 years ago. It's the balls in the air a lot.
You guys are bigger, stronger and faster.
And if you're out of position sometimes,
you see it one way and I think it's a replay
should be more involved in it to get it right sometimes.
If these guys are under tremendous pressure,
I think betting has become a big part of our society now.
That's a big part of it
I think some of these people that talking about the officials or you can't see the chiefs always get breaks
Those are people are losing money, but that's another story. That's their fault. That's their problem that they bet that's no no
Yeah, that sounds like a personal attack on me herm. I've been fading them for weeks now. I've never I've
Got it. I got a standard bet. a i've got a standard that yeah i got a standard that
two dollars
you're in the game when you lose
when you know when you lose to me you gotta bring it to the office
i had changed i want to dollar bill go to the bank to get all the bill and
bring it to the other that's all i can bet that's all i can afford to know i
got you
or chat with her medwards
and sickle barkley's been
he's been a gene all year really so career but the guy is just well it's
just a phenomenal season
and yet in in modern football you know the quarterback is is always at the
forefront of everything i guess that's always been the case of the last year
just exclusive to twenty five i would hurt so this week
well and i guess that's what i'm getting to her like if you're the chees and you
go into this game are you more concerned with what Jalen Hurts can do to
hurt you or what Saquon Barkley can do to hurt you?
You got to start Barkley. It all starts there. And that's any football game. You can't allow
an offense to dictate the terms of the game by running the football. You have to stop the run.
And it's an old saying, coach said, you got to stop the run.
You really do.
Because if you can't stop the run, you got a problem.
You got a major problem.
They control the game when they can run the football.
Any team that can run the ball dictates the term how the game is going to be played.
So you better stop it.
And then with this guy, not only do you got to stop it, you got to tackle this
guy with more than one defender and you can't, you can't jump gaps.
You can't guess.
You can't, you have to stay with integrity of the defense that's called.
And you've got to stay in your gap and guys got to get off blocks and they got
to tackle this guy and a one guy tackling this guy. gap and if you allow this dude to get going good luck
to you yeah he's a beast man he is something else and in terms of the the
history that's at stake I mean you played the game for a long time you've
coached in the game you obviously you're a football lifer what what does this
mean historically if Mahomes and Reed and the Chiefs find a way to three
Pete something that's never happened in the Super Bowl era?
Well you just mentioned never happened and no one ever thought it could happen, right?
No one ever imagined that Captain America and New England Patriots just win all those
Super Bowls either, right?
I mean it's just, in today's world, you'd go, oh man, again?
They're going to do it
again.
They've been, what, five Super Bowls now?
Or seven, something like that?
I haven't lost count.
How many Super Bowls?
It's almost like they're right.
You're a Kansas City Chief, you should go to the Super Bowl.
That's what you do.
Right, exactly.
AFC Championship at a minimum every single year.
Yeah, so kudos for them, their organization.
They got a great culture, I think, in their locker room.
Andy's obviously a Hall of Fame coach.
Patrick Mahomes is a Hall of Fame player.
There's no doubt about that.
But it's just they're a very confident team,
and they are, you know, they're focused.
And I think they talked about it in the offseason.
We're going to try to do something different
that no one's ever done.
You know, and good for them.
If they can pull it off, it's great.
Because that's what sports is about.
It's about setting records, put it in the stone,
and let somebody chase it.
Isn't it incredible that for three straight,
well, it's been really longer than that
since Mahomes arrived.
They have set their sights on a Super Bowl,
and it's 100% honest, and it's a clear vision where like every team will say it
right Herm we're gonna try to chase it teams no they're not winning a Super Bowl
like if you know you don't have the team you know you don't have the team like
this has got to be such a great appreciation for a guy like yourself
player and coach who that's the message in august and it's a hundred percent legitimate
like they they want to win a super bowl
there's no doubt and and you know the the the crazy part about it is that you
know every year you go into the season going some teams just saying they can
can you you know get over five hundred
can we win ten can we win ten games
can we get into playoffs
these guys are like uh... we're trying to win another we're trying to win three in a row might as well
We got nothing else to do and if they win it, they'll just say we'll go get four and it'll be favor to do it next year
Yeah, and I'll be dying to do it too. They'll be dying for four in a row exactly. Yeah. Yeah, no doubt. That's a fable
Fun to watch it sure is and it continues on Sunday. Enjoy it. Herm. Thank you for doing this
My pleasure, man. Thank you. doing this. My pleasure, man.
Thank you.
There's Herm Edwards, ESPN NFL Analyst.
Dude, you're such a fraud.
Last week you were like, I don't want these guys to be in the Super Bowl.
I'm sick of seeing Kansas City at this media day.
I can't control that.
With Herm, you're like, it's great to watch, Herm.
It's really exciting.
I'm like, this guy's a joker, man.
Last week he was like, I don't want him to be there.
That's true. I don't play the games.
Okay, but there'll be a fraud with Herm.
What do you want me to say? Hey, Herm, thanks for coming on. This game stinks. I wish it didn't happen. Your thoughts.
What am I supposed to ask him?
I don't know but
I appreciate the greatness of Kansas City
It was just the great, you caught my attention
when you said it was
It's great fun to watch Herm
He just
He just Montied Herm, that's what he did
He just grin screwed Herm
like
worse than in the end zone when he got fired
and the ad was like
Arizona State I think that was yeah listen man I I wish it weren't true I
wish I wish this this was the Buffalo Bills I wish they were in the Super Bowl
but they're not and it would feel think about how different it would feel if the
Bills were down there you know if we were talking to people from Buffalo that are down there and it would be totally different, but I
Don't play the games. They do Buffalo had a chance. They didn't win Kansas City did I appreciate that and
I'm looking forward to watching the game, but I do still wish Buffalo was in it, but they're not
Alright, you just want to get to a five pack of the waste management here?
That's Shereck.
I think we go five pack and then a Canadian, so six total picks.
You had Scheffler last week.
So you're taking him?
Yeah, I'm taking Scheffler.
Of course I am.
He's plus 280 on FanDuel.
Do you know how absurd that's Tiger in 2000, like plus 280 to win the tournament.
And he won it two years ago
but yeah I got Scheffler plus that's my first pick my first pick might shock you
it's a Heathie gala you're taking see Heath with your first pick yes I am if
you have watched and paid attention at that tournament, he has been sniffing around for quite a few years
He has yeah. Hey, I mean the guy doesn't he's got one win on tour. I believe this is a big tournament
It's tough one to win, but I like it. Okay, you're going to hit I
Don't want to just chase the the chalk here, but I'm gonna go with JT man
I liked what I saw to JT the last couple of weeks Justin Thomas and
I think he likes kind of this type of an atmosphere like he loves this type of atmosphere I'll
take JT.
You like JT huh?
I like this guy enough that I'm going to vault him and have him as my Canadian as well and
that's the defending champ Nick Taylor.
Wow what a pick. Defending champ Nick Taylor. Wow what a pick. Wow.
Defending champ Nick Taylor.
He always plays here well.
Always.
He loves this course.
Victorious last year.
Okay you're on Nick Taylor.
I'm gonna, I don't really want to take this guy but he looked great last week and he's
been playing well.
I can't do it.
Sep Stracca.
I'm gonna take seven track uh...
use son of the what's the fact that that's the rack of the face of the tour
you texted me last week and said i can't stand the sight of this guy
but i don't know if he can be
they just wanted to know if you have a look at this guy at the bottom and he
said
i don't know she text me this he goes monahan's gonna poison sebs draka if he stays on top of the leaderboards
it was not ideal to see him in his squares
leading the tournament again
but he's the pg2r player of the year right now
sebs draka that's how good he's been
he is i'm gonna take
i'm gonna take
sung jay m okay SungJay likes playing here. He likes playing here.
You know who likes playing here? The guy plays everywhere. Yeah well he plays he's the new
VJ Sing. The guy plays 50 weeks a year. He's insane. Sammy Burns. I'll take Sam. I like
Sammy here. He plays well here. He's competitive guys one on two or Sammy burns my fourth pick
Hmm
I'm gonna keep going to the well with this guy. You know what? I'm gonna take a guy from my hometown in Georgia his names
JT Poston
JT Poston, okay, I like that pick. Oh
Man, I'm trying to look at guys for the cheating guy to see see in it Patrick Reed. He's not a reason
He went to live he's a live guy. It's time
Cheating over there. He would he would find a way to cheat his way through this
Billy Horschel has been playing well, man, Billy you hate that guy too. I'm not a huge fan
You know, I'm gonna take is I take Ricky Fowler
Ricky Fowl Do you not remember when Ricky Fowler went?
37 under at the no balls open and didn't go for that par 5 and 2 and cost him the tournament
Yeah, Ernie Palmer called him directly after and said, Ricky, what are you doing?
You're in it to win it?
I just need him to top five it, man.
I need points.
Rick Fowler.
I'm going to take two more guys, okay?
Yeah.
I'm going to take two more guys.
One is Corey Conner, so I'm going to have two Canadians.
Oh, wow.
That just stole my Canadian, dude.
Yeah.
Okay. And the other one is, dude. Yeah. Okay.
And the other one is Max Grieserman.
Max Grieserman.
Dude, he's hot.
I took him last week, man.
He's going to win on tour this year.
Yeah.
He's a really good player.
Oh, man.
I'm going to take Hadwin because he lives in Arizona.
Yeah.
Good pick.
I'll take Hadwin.
He's an Arizona guy.
You need one more.
Do I? I thought I had five. All right. I'll throw that pick. He's an Arizona guy. You need one more. Do I?
I thought I had five.
All right, I'll throw another guy in there.
Tom Kim.
Tom Kim playing six and a half hour rounds.
Dude, he's got to speed it up.
He's got to speed it up.
It's sickening what he's doing on the course right now.
Tom Kim, is that enough?
Do we have all the, I don't even know.
Oh, he needs one more.
Okay, so I took, I ended up with six and a Canadian,
so you need one more guy.
I've got Sahithi Gala, Nick Taylor,
SungJM, JT Poston, Corey Connors, and Max Grieserman.
Okay, just take one more and we'll figure it out.
Hayes has seven, Hayes has seven.
Oh, that's what it is.
Say, take one more guy. I'm gonna take a guy named Jordan Spieth, figure it out. Hayes has seven. Hayes has seven. Oh, that's what it is.
Take one more guy.
I'm going to take a guy named Jordan Spieth and this is the last time for him.
I've always committed to him and he doesn't do squat for me.
Okay.
Yeah, I don't like that pick at all, but okay.
I thought you'd take your boy with a Clanton.
Forget it.
Forget it.
I'm not taking Spieth.
I'm taking a guy that's sitting right in front of my face
Who's a quality player? It's Windham Clark. Okay, Windham's down there. None of us took Decky man
He likes playing here a lot. I think he's won twice. Hasn't he you want your guy Decky? I'll take somebody
I'll take a key from take Decky. I'll take fitzy. Okay, there you go. Now it's over done now. It's no more
