Starting point is 00:00:00 If you smell what the rock is cooking. Power 2 Overdrive continues. Powered by Fanduel, bringing you everything from the opening line of the final score. Brian Hayes, the dog, Jeff O'Neill, Jamie Noodles, McClennan. Noodles. And Luke Wilson in studio. Feeling very good about himself. We were saying humble.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Three and O on your picks. We tried our best to jam you. Seeing the board very clearly early in the playoffs, much like you were early in the season, which actually makes us feel very comfortable. We have you right where we want you. I just have a couple of things. Noodles and I spoke earlier today. This playoff run is all about staying humble.
Starting point is 00:00:42 As you know in the group chat, after every win, we just say, let's just stay humble. It's so annoying. Let's stay humble. We get a win. Let's say humble. All right. Well, good for you. I will say, do have a couple gripes.
Starting point is 00:00:56 You can hear them out. Yes. As we all know, and you guys have agreed to this, the regular season. doesn't mean a thing without the ring. We get it. We get it. Let's get it. Let's get some new material. But I also am a little upset. I'd like to know what's going on with Doogie because all year when we were getting smoked and we were going to be the two seed in the playoffs, Doogie literally, games were even over yet. This guy's tweeting score updates.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Right. And it's very quiet. Tweeting score updates with two minutes to go. Very quiet. So all of a sudden we have, we're saying humble, we're saying humble. We have one good Sunday. And Doogie, I don't think there's a update yet. No, he's on a cruise with Al's brother. Yeah, dude, he's literally not here.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Speaking of Al's brother, another gripe I have, and this is the big one. This guy all year in the group chat has been the melthiest. I'm going to call him a turd. He has been an absolute turd. Disrespectful. Yes, he has. He has. I can't argue against that.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I mean, it's been bad. He's been very quiet. But all of a sudden, this weekend, when his team needs him, he's not even in the country. He's not in the group chat. We're not happy with Al's brother. I mean, this guy, it's like he got his contract after a great regular season, and now he's completely checked out. So there's a lot of pressure on him.
Starting point is 00:02:10 We have the pick tonight. Must win? Do you think it's a must win? No, I don't think so. If you're down 5-1, there's still a lot of games. Hearder cup style noodles. Rider Cup. It's a tough day one of the Rider Cup.
Starting point is 00:02:21 That's precisely what it is. But the Super Bowl, there's so many points on the line. Big swing. That's singles, right? We love singles, oh, we'll be fine by the Super Bowl. and a lot of games left to be played. But we need one tonight, Houston Pitt. And oh, you called the game last hour.
Starting point is 00:02:37 You said, this is a lock for us. We're going to jump on it. You want to make that announcement again? We're happy to flush it out. We're all over the Texans. We're going to lay the points. You're not cheery. You're not cheery.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Let's go. That's the pick. I did. I did. I asked you guys, you're fine. We're on Houston tonight. Mike Tomlin, Aaron Rogers in the playoffs. On a Monday night.
Starting point is 00:03:01 You're going against Aaron Rogers. He's 42 years. He's all. He's all the coach. He hasn't won anything in a big game in a long time. He just won the AFC North. No, he backed or into the AFC North. They won 10 games this year.
Starting point is 00:03:14 You didn't even play half of them. Let me just ask you this. Parks, let me ask you this. And I'm still calling you. You'll always be my parts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who, you're telling me you wouldn't take the Texans tonight. No.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Get serious, man. Not my nose is growing, dude. Your nose is growing. Okay, can I, can I, come. I put this out there. So you guys locked in, though. Can we get confirmed? It's been off.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Yeah, we're on Houston. Minus three. Locked in the points. So on paper, I would say yes, but this Texan's offense is not good. Like, they are bottom half the league in almost every statistic. Stroud has not been an elite player whatsoever. So I look at this thing, and I think that this is a classic, greasy Pittsburgh game. Do I think they'll win?
Starting point is 00:03:53 I think it depends on how well Aaron plays. Now, he's not going to be Josh Allen. He's not going to be Matthew Stafford. But can he muster up? 17 points. I think he can get 17. And do I think C.J. Stroud is going to score 21? No. If he scores 20, it's a push. They score 19. We're winning. I think A, he can. B, I think the defensive
Starting point is 00:04:14 turnovers will side in favor of Houston. I think they could put points on the board tonight. You think they pick off Aaron. Yes. Or fumbles or what have you. I mean, listen, you saw what they did last week. They asked him to throw the ball 47 times. This guy, they don't have the run game. I'm talking about the Steelers. Yeah, I'm talking about the Steelers. Houston's defense, number one in the league,
Starting point is 00:04:35 the pass rush is going to be all over him tonight. It'll be quick passes. 42 years old in the cold getting hit. He ain't like, he's not going to like that tonight. And I look at Tomlin, you know, the last eight to 10 years, it's been regular season, get them up, get them in, and they fall flat in the playoffs. Yeah, because they're rolling in there with who?
Starting point is 00:04:56 Mitch Trubisky? Henry Pickett, have a chance. Aaron Rogers is 40. him last week when his team was needed him. He was for 2.94. He's been playing well. He's got D.K. Metcalf back. When was the last time he had a great playoff game? You're going to ask for that next time I'm on.
Starting point is 00:05:11 I was going to say tomorrow. It's been a while. I can tell you. It's been a while. It's not in a position. He's not a great game. You got think it's a defining moment for C.J. Stroud because we saw yesterday, we called them now T. T. Moo, quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:05:24 They're not for real. We saw the T.Moo quarterbacks yesterday. This is like, this is a defining moment. moment for this kid. I would agree. And it's not an easy task. I mean, obviously, the Texans defense is an elite unit. One of the best out there. But the Steelers' defense has played
Starting point is 00:05:40 well down the stretch, and I think they will stop the run today. You know, Hayward looked last week. He looked incredible. T.J. Watt, if he can get pressure, Stroud has got to manage this game. I don't need him to come out here and play like Josh Allen, but he's got
Starting point is 00:05:56 to play well, because this is what I'll say if the Texans get up, especially 10 points, this thing could get ugly. This thing could get ugly. But if this comes down to a, which it could, a 13 to 10 just greasy game, I like Tomlin in the Steelers in that style of game. I wouldn't disagree with that. I mean, listen, it's a tough game to call. Like, they've all been tough.
Starting point is 00:06:20 They've all been very captivating games. Last night, maybe notwithstanding. Chargers are, there are a line. It's disgustingly bad. Yeah, and Herbert was bad. Last night. Team. I'm not team.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Don't put him in that category. He always gets let off the hook, and he could not, he couldn't move the ball last night. I know the offensive line isn't great. It wasn't great all year, and he still found a way to make plays. Sure. There were a couple of bad drops, a couple of times he got hit, but they have some weapons there that you should be able to utilize. He, he chokes in the playoffs. He didn't have a great game.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Herbert chokes in the playoffs. He does. My question is, though, is C.J. Strode to Timu? That's my question. He wasn't. But we're going to find out tonight. That's valid question. I'll tell you who I was most disappointed in.
Starting point is 00:07:04 This weekend? Yeah. Trevor Lawrence. Yep. Okay. You know why? He's Timu. I couldn't get over.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Let's take Herbert. And I, I, I'm, everything you said is completely factual. Past defense showed up. Their offensive line isn't great. But Herbert did not make plays last night. Okay. But you look at Herbert, no run game. Absolutely no run game yesterday.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Mm-hmm. Took six sacks and every one of his scrambles. I think minus one is not a design play. It was like he was under barrage. And I get you'd like them to play a little better. But I look at Trevor Lawrence. I'm like, you did have a run game. Now what got weird is that the Jags got away from it.
Starting point is 00:07:42 But you had a run game. Like that first pick, I think it was the first or might have been the second quarter. I did a couple of hits. We talked about it in Jay. Like it's just generic cover two and we pipe the Tampa two linebacker. Right in the chest. Yes. It's funny because I was going to send a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:58 a message to the group and I swear I'm not making this up. But they're down three, there's 59 seconds left and they have no timeouts. They get the ball and I'm like, you know, if this is Josh Allen, this game is at bare minimum tied. Bare minimum. And I thought to myself, I'm sitting in the room above Jay's studio. I go, he's going to pipe somebody in the chest on the first play for an interception. Like that's exactly what I thought. I'm like, here comes a pick.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Now he didn't pipe anyone in the chess, but he forced a ball. It pops in the air. You know, you look at Josh versus Trevor, and in every aspect of that game, Trevor has two turnovers. Josh has none. Josh uses legs numerous times to make big plays. Trevor barely uses legs. Trevor throws for 207, I think it was, and Josh was, what, 263? Like, in a playoff game that was back and forth, Josh Allen utterly dominated Trevor Lawrence performance.
Starting point is 00:08:52 But yet, that cannot be surprising to anybody. And this is what was confusing to me leading up to the game. The amount of people, and a lot, I would say the majority of people, I believe yourself included, were saying, well, Jags have done this, Jags have done that, Lawrence has been this, Lawrence has been that. And I kept looking at it thinking, guys, it's Josh Allen and the bills, they're not losing this game. That's fair. They're not going to go down against a team with that history and a quarterback that is built and wired the way he's wired and going to lose the game. Okay. Like, there was no way they were losing.
Starting point is 00:09:24 I'm with you on that. what my counterpoint would be I was worried about running the football. You're talking about the bills running the football. The bills got smoked by Jackson's defense. Part of why I thought Trevor Lawrence was going to have an edge here
Starting point is 00:09:39 is that he would have a awesome run game because of how bad the bill's defense is at stopping the run. And I personally believe that the bill's past defense, which statistically is a very good defense. Part of that is because everyone's gashing them in the run game. Right, exactly.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Like they're committing to it. I thought their defense played well, though, last night. Like, I thought Joey Bose had some pressure when he needed to. I was like, man, Trevor, like, get this thing going here. Yeah, and it was a close game. I get that they didn't blow him out. Ham Little missed a kick. Now, that was weird.
Starting point is 00:10:08 How did they give that at the end of the half? That was like a ball never lies moment for me, where it's like the half ended, but they're like, actually there's one second left, so it'll give you a field goal. Bizarre. And they roll out the record holder for long kicks, and he's changed it. I've got to tell you, I thought about you parts watching the L.A. Carolina game.
Starting point is 00:10:25 You know why? Because your story is about Matthew Stafford and practice about sorry, that was a foot off, that was a foot off, that last throw he made to win the game. Insanity. It was like that was put into an area where it's like all, I could just see it, like, all that practice about finding like a two-foot window to put the ball. And that was like, practice makes perfect. And like that throw was so good.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Insane. Insane. Those type of throws over the weekend were the defining moment. Defining that one, the Williams. throw on fourth down to Adunze, the Cook's catched by Allen in the fourth quarter? It's funny. Those three throws were the throws of the weekend,
Starting point is 00:11:02 the plays of the weekend. I had Zach Laris on the podcast today, and we talked about that throw to cooks, and I was like, hey, from a quarterback perspective, like, can you talk to me about this throw in this play? And he's like, what's crazy about it, he took a massive hit. He goes, this protection, he goes,
Starting point is 00:11:18 see how Josh is pointing here? He goes, Shakir should actually be sliding, because it's a bad matchup protection-wise, but Shakira is supposed to pick up that free hitter that hits him right in the chest right there. You just watched. So what's crazy to me is that imagine you think you're completely protected. You're like, man, I've got this thing buttoned up. I understand the coverage.
Starting point is 00:11:39 And one of your own guys is looking the wrong way. And you've got to sit in that pocket and be like, okay, well, I'm going to absolutely get tattooed here and deliver this ball. But I'll say this. And again, I got to even credit to Zach Kalaris on saying this. but the throw Caleb Williams made on fourth and eight down 11 points. Special, man. He said he thinks it's one of the best throws in the playoffs ever. Like from a talent, not moment-wise.
Starting point is 00:12:04 My guy. My guy. From a talent-wise. You don't remember the one it was the Rome of Dunezay? Yeah, no, it was, that was the game right there. Here we go. Here we go. I mean.
Starting point is 00:12:14 This was after the false start, I think. Yes, the end zone view of this right here. How does he get this ball out? Yeah, that's a phenomenal play. That's one of your big misses Hayes. It's one of your big misses. You've hated Caleb Williams from this moment. Dude, I'm not kidding.
Starting point is 00:12:31 He's hated him since he stepped put in Chicago. He didn't think he was mentally tough enough. Didn't think he had it. And he's pretty damn good, I'll tell you that. Maybe it's just because you're a Packers fan. You've hated that guy's guts. The way he played in the fourth quarter, the way he's been very resilient this year to his credit.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Like to his credit, and he's got talent. He went first overall. Like, everyone knew the talent. But he has been inconsistent at times that offense has been, shaky at times. People didn't think he had the stones for that performance against Green Bay. I didn't think so either. That was his first playoff game. Let's remember
Starting point is 00:13:01 that. Crazy sat here. This blew my mind. I had to go through and I looked a comb through all of it to make sure it was real. The Packers and the Bears have played three times this year. The Bears have taken an offensive snap with the
Starting point is 00:13:17 lead zero times and have won two games. They have legitimate never had a snap where they were in the lead at the time on offense. Right. Sickening. And they lost two of the three games. Well, that's a crazy stat. And both of them, like, very pivotal.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Like, that was for the NFC North, 34 days ago or whatever at Soldier Field. And the Packers were up 16.6. Malik Willis had to come into that game. Who was it? Dobbs on the swim. The outside kick, yep. horrible. You know, that cost them the NFC North. I think Parsons got hurt either the week before the week after. I can't remember. And it changed the whole landscape of the season. But the Packers have done that all season. They've just choked away games. They had big leads five,
Starting point is 00:14:08 six times this year. What was weird for me was at the end of that Packers game and they're driving the ball. And I do get why they were passing. Not all of it, but it's like the run game was future. They were getting dominated. But they're completing. passes getting out of bounds. Well, that's what killed them. The two throws they made went out of bounds. And I'm like, bro, like, even as a receiver, it's like, it's not hard to catch it and fall and just, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:34 limp your way into staying in bounds. So, like, you go and you're like, how does this happen? And I can't preach enough. You guys hear me use this saying, situational awareness. Like, we would always talk about in these moments, hey, we need a first down. Hey,
Starting point is 00:14:50 stay in bounds. Stay in at all costs. We have to get this done, boys. Like, you can't give Caleb Williams in this team a chance who has already burned you once. Stay in bounds. Play-calling-wise. Can we get plays that we think
Starting point is 00:15:06 will keep our guys in bounds? What's your theory, Luke? Because we talk about it in hockey a lot about not being aware of the score clock and when to make dangerous plays and when not to. What is your theory about the modern-day football player that just can't grasp the understanding of that?
Starting point is 00:15:22 because I find it crazy. To me, that specifically comes from your staff. Again, in college, we didn't talk too much about that. But when I say, O'Dog, it was drilled into our minds, drilled into our minds in Seattle. Like, don't do it, you don't play. And it's 100%, but also like, okay, today. So how our days would be set up is you kind of get in the morning, depending you get a lift or not, whatever. But it's like meetings for about three and a half hours.
Starting point is 00:15:52 you know, again, potentially four if you're on special teams. And then before lunch, we would have like an hour, I call it a jog-through. So you're not wearing cleats. You're kind of where it's on our indoor turf field. And it's all the new install for that week. But the end of every single jog-through, we did a situational football period, which again, it was not full speed. But Pete would come in.
Starting point is 00:16:14 None of us knew it. And it would be like, okay, hey, it's the end of a half. We're starting on our seven-yard line. we have one timeout and there's a minute 40 left. We're actually trying to just get out of the half without giving the ball back. Or it's, okay, we just got to turnover and we're up three and we've got to kill the time here.
Starting point is 00:16:33 So we call four minute offense. Thursday, same thing. You think of this, you're doing 18 weeks of the stuff, so we've played in a kill. Okay, there's 14 seconds left. We need a first down. We don't have any timeouts left. So it's literally, here's the three plays
Starting point is 00:16:48 we would call in the situation. We've got to complete it. Once you get the first down, do not stand up. Like, okay, everyone's got to know the yard line. Get down, sprint to the line scrimmage, get your killing so we can get the field goal team. And we would time it, like, how fast can you guys get this done? How fast can we get this done?
Starting point is 00:17:03 So that we have an idea. Same sort of thing. Four minute offense. Okay, here's our four minute plays. We need to stay in bounds. Okay, if there's motion, like this is how complex it can get. Wait, take the huddle, come up here, call the motion with nine seconds, okay, depending on what the motion is.
Starting point is 00:17:19 snap the ball with three or less. Were they doing that yesterday? Nope. Were they staying in bounds yesterday? Nope. So should Lafleur fall on the sword for this, in your opinion? This is what gets weird. Like, we talk about firing coaches.
Starting point is 00:17:33 So I think part of firing a coach also needs to depend on who else is out there. So let's put this with, you're a Packers guy. Are you going to be thrilled if Lafleur's gone and you guys bring in Stefansky? I would say no. No. Are you going to be thrilled if you bring in John Harbaugh? Come on. Yeah, and Harbo's got a similar recent history in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Correct. And he's not a young guy. It's not their MO. They don't generally do that. Love. You think you have, which I like Love quite a bit. I thought he played well on Saturday. You think you have a guy that can eventually be in the conversation in that top three, top four category.
Starting point is 00:18:09 That's the hope of you're a Packers fan. So you go get an offensive coach. Who is it? I can't believe that the amount of interviews Mike McDaniel's getting that. I can't believe it. As an O.C., McDaniel is going to get some love. I'll tell you this right now, if Mike McDaniel is the O.C. in Detroit, and they tighten that offensive lineup,
Starting point is 00:18:31 they'll probably be my Super Bowl favorite next year. Trouble. Yeah, he'll get hired in that capacity. You've got to think, as much as he's a weirdo, and the interviews are strange, and everything went to hell in Miami, the same breath. What he was able to do with Tua this year,
Starting point is 00:18:45 if you give him an offensive line, give him the two runners that Detroit, has, specifically Jemir Gibbs, give him Ammon Ra and give him a quarterback that doesn't turn the ball over like Jared Goff and understands football, look out. Well, yeah, I mean, we'll see what happens. I agree with you there in terms of McDaniel and his future as an offensive coordinator.
Starting point is 00:19:07 As for LeFleur, what complicates things is he's got a year left, so he's a lame duck guy. They were talking negotiation prior to this. His playoff record is not strong. He's three and six in the playoffs. It's not positive. There's a lot of choke jobs. I blame him first and foremost for that choke job on Saturday night. But the play calling, the first possession of the second half was the most important possession of the game. And it was just a horrendously predictable three and out from the Flurry.
Starting point is 00:19:33 He's famous for it. And, you know, they went out. They traded Matt. They drafted Golden. They never do. Wide receiver in the first round. They trade for Parsons. They win their first two games and they look like juggernauts.
Starting point is 00:19:44 And ever since then, they've just faded. Yeah. Bad losses. Bad losses. choke jobs, two divisional rival like Chicago. I don't know. I think they'll probably bring him back, but he's got,
Starting point is 00:19:56 this is a classic example of a sports team where you can either look up and say, would championship organizations accept this or would they think we got to take that next step and chase it? Or you can look down, which happens a lot in sports, and say sure, this is tough, but we could
Starting point is 00:20:12 be the Jets. It could be Cleveland, could be Miami, so it could be worse. And that happens all the time in pro sports. And you gas them then if you have those championship aspirations. I agree. Just to send the message to everyone else in the organization. I'm not sure they do, though.
Starting point is 00:20:27 They might have, hey, it could be worse. We could be the Jetsitis. You know, where, because you see that online all the time. Yes, Lefleur, sure he chokes, but man, you know what they do for him? If he was with New York or with Cleveland or with Tennessee or with, you don't pull the trigger on a Parsons trade and then say, oh, at least we're not the Jets. I hear you. I'm with you guys.
Starting point is 00:20:47 but where I get jammed here again is like if you're going to go down that road who do you hire? There's no one out there right now that I love. You don't fire him for the sake of firing him, correct? You got to have an option. Would Robert Sala get in a second chance?
Starting point is 00:21:01 Like I know he's a defensive guy. Robert Sala would be a tremendous, tremendous hire, unbelievable hire. And I think now you've got to get an O.C. Maybe it's Mike McDaniels. How much to OCs make? Tell me that. How much do they make? Oh, I'm against the top-tier guy.
Starting point is 00:21:17 will make over a smel. Oh, yeah. I'd be more than that. Yeah. I don't know. To be honest, I don't know. I think the guy down in Miami, remember the guy who was caught doing some funky stuff?
Starting point is 00:21:27 Which guy? Which guy? The offensive line coach or whatever? Remember the guy down in Miami? Look that story about, I want to say he was making two or three million. It was like an old line coach or something. He was doing snoots on a FaceTime with somebody before a TV.
Starting point is 00:21:40 He was up. He had his, he had his hands in multiple cookie jerks. He was not supposed to be. We had some problems going on. He was in South Beach. He was making two and a half. I believe we had that conversation going,
Starting point is 00:21:55 this guy makes $2.5 million, and he's acting up like this. I'm pretty sure. I think a top O's seat part, see, they're making more than a sheet. Yeah, maybe $3 million or something. I love that turn of sheet. I love that. The best. The best. For your four sheets.
Starting point is 00:22:08 Yeah. Is there a more, I don't want to say disrespect. Is there a Super Bowl coach that gets less respect in Nick Siriani. In the history of football. He deserves it. He just won a Super Bowl last year and people hate this guy in Philly. I wanted
Starting point is 00:22:26 to utterly puke watching that game and I'm going to just put this on the radar here. I was like I'm pulling my hair out. I'm so frustrated watching Philadelphia. Roster wise, offensively.
Starting point is 00:22:43 They are loaded. Like it is insane. how good they are. And then you come out here and you're like, it's like, and I made this comment yesterday where it's like, it's such a circus on the sideline. We're screaming at AJ Brown because he's not hustling off the field and they're worried about a penalty.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Then you're fighting with AJ Brown. You know, an hour later, it's like Big Dom catches a ball on the sideline, which was funny. Why does that guy have a headset, though? It's like a big dog's a ball on the sideline, okay, as a security guy with a headset on. Yeah. It'd be one thing of all these shenanigans.
Starting point is 00:23:16 occur and they were buttoned up. I look at Vrable as a buttoned up guy. I don't know if you were watching yesterday. He is sprinting down the sidelines screaming at the officials because he knows more than the officials. He's yelling itself. This is an appellant. That's an appellant. The end of the half
Starting point is 00:23:32 this guy was on it. He was like we need to seal points to send it at the end of this half. He's so locked into the game. Yet third and 11 end of the game. Season on the line. You're at home. We throw a ball. you would have liked Devante Smith to catch it.
Starting point is 00:23:49 It's a bit high ball, whatever. Okay, fourth and 11 boys, like, we talk about situational football. A good staff, and I could blame Serriyan, you can blame Kevin, but Toul, I was like, hey, in a got to have it. That's literally used to say, here are got to have it. Yeah, game on the line.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Season on the line. Season on the line. What are we going to? Here's our play. Here's our two plays. On the play sheet. You know those big, like, you see Sean McVeigh, this is the kind of world I lived in.
Starting point is 00:24:13 He has that big old thing and there are different colors on it. You'll flip it around. And it's like, oh, got to have a situation. He's got a little box on there that might say, like, again, let's play break. Gotta have it. Fourth down, got to have it. Here are my five plays.
Starting point is 00:24:26 And it's literally right there. Boom, we're on it. And this is why I think Seriana gets so much heat. We blow a time out because we can't get the play call in. And then if you watch, this is right after the third and 11 drop to Devonte Smith. You watch it. They barely get out of the huddle. And then DeVonte Smith and Goddard aren't sure what side to go to.
Starting point is 00:24:44 So then we're walking to the line of scrimmage. I think it was Devante. And then we've got to blow a timeout. And you have three, so at least you could have potentially stopped the clock and you'd stop the run. And there are little things that add up. And then you go to the timeout. You have this meeting in the minds. And again, I know I'm getting a little bogged down in football minutia.
Starting point is 00:25:02 But you come out here and you draw up four verticals. What do you think they're going to be doing on fourth and 11? You don't think people are going to be playing soft? Like, have something where you're pulling. a guy out. It's like, dude, and then we try and jam a ball in. It was a Trevor Lawrence throw. I could not get over it. And I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:25:22 this is so putrid. And to me, that was a micro-a-move the whole second half. Yeah, I agree. The whole season. They're lucky they're in the division they're in. But why Siriani is, like, getting all this flack, is all the theatrics, when you can't execute timeouts, we can't get plays in on time, and our
Starting point is 00:25:38 conceptual design or scheme of offense is also pathetic. I can't believe there wasn't some kind of like change in the like thinking of all the players saying we had distractions this year but if we just lock in like we were last year regardless of personnel changes not being the same defense or whatever whatever it may be we have a chance to possibly go back to back with what's out there right now totally they just never got to it they never got to i i was shocked by that i thought there was an outside chance they could put it together and somehow repeat but they're
Starting point is 00:26:10 this so i'm going to put this on you you're talking about you're talking about you talk about that, O'Dog, but it's like not only do I think they could have repeat, let's say they win that game. They then go to Chicago and quite frankly, that is a great matchup for them. That is a great matchup for that team. I would take Philly over Chicago all day. If we had to pick that spread, I would have probably taken Philly. So you're now going into
Starting point is 00:26:34 the NFC championship against the winner of the Rams and the Seahawks. So like you're one game away. And this is what I'd throw to the hockey guys. another funny one about football that I just think is such a complete myth. Have you guys ever screamed at a coach midgame? Yes. And did you like that coach? Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Really? Yeah. Like I see that. Okay. I see that and I'm like when like, you know, it's just out of love, it's emotion, whatever. Every time there's been a thing in the football league that I've been a part of where guys are getting into it with a point where you're in the coach's face and then afterwards people are holding you back
Starting point is 00:27:14 and you're dropping F-bombs. You don't like that guy that much. Sure, you might have respect for him, whatever. But, like, they make it sound like, oh, man, it's like two brothers, two kids fighting. It's like, bro, we are getting yelled at, our star players getting yelled at because he's not hustling off the field,
Starting point is 00:27:31 which I don't have a problem with it. But then he comes back and tells you to whatever, okay, I'm not going to use profanity. This is not a good in culture. Like you have created a toxic, I've got to be careful swearing right now. It's just on the pot. I'm a lot of swearing the pot. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:49 I don't know, boys. Maybe it's different in hockey. But like in my time in the NFL, I don't remember anyone really going up to Pete and ripping him a new one. Hockey's different because nobody gets in anybody's face. The coach is on a bench. And if he's giving it to you for two weeks straight, you might lean back and say, why don't you go bleep yourself? And that's the end of it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:10 And you might have to hear about it at a later day, but there's no, like, getting in someone's grill. Not to mention, too, it's a smaller roster. Luke and the other thing, like, you're, you may not like the coach, but you respect them a ton. I've had some pretty hardened coaches, right? Like, you know, I had Al Arbor, legendary coach. I've had Mike Keenan. I've had Joel Quinville. I've had Daryl Sutter.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Like, these are guys who are known, you know, can press buttons. and, you know, at that time, you may not love them, but you certainly respect them, and they're trying to get you going and show you a direction. But, like, I don't think it was ever, you know, F you in the face type of thing. It was more like, you know, you, yeah, zip it, I hear you, I hear you type of thing, when the guy's chirping at you, and he's probably rightfully chirping at you
Starting point is 00:29:02 because you're probably playing terrible or out to lunch type of thing. So I think it's different in football. Yeah, and would have been the case yesterday. I think it also depends on if they win or lose. Remember Kelsey getting at Andy Reid a couple years ago? That's right. Then they won and it was like, oh, it's all good. Yeah, we get fiery.
Starting point is 00:29:20 It's okay. Like that was really disrespectful. And that's Andy Reid. Yeah, go. So, you know, I don't know. I think it's just kind of fascinating that it's unraveled like that in Philly. And they just won a Super Bowl last year. And they're still loaded.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Like their defense is sick. And offensively, they have generational guys. Right. And now, again, we'll see what, like, the discourse around Jalen Hertz, like, he loves this. Go talk about the coach, man. Don't talk about me because he down the stretch wasn't great, and he wasn't great yesterday. I like when he talks, he's like, I'm going to talk to the GM, the owner, and the coach, and we'll go from there. It was like, no stress on him whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Oh, good. I just have to share one note from a longtime listener who said, you should call Al's brother, Brandon Ayuk, abandons his team, and everyone hates him. Oh, that's disappointing. but then look at the Niners. Didn't allow them, that didn't, you know, suck them into a black hole. They just kept going and going and going, and that's exactly the way of our food.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Hang on a sec. We've got to talk about the Niners. There's rumblings on Twitter now that their practice facilities beside like some electrical plant. I saw this. And like all the injuries are happening because of it. Like you want to talk about planting a seed
Starting point is 00:30:31 where everyone will start freaking out? Yeah. I think is it born? I think Bourne actually said it in his post. post-game interview. And he made it, like, he was joking about it. But he's on the team. He's like, must be the electric, I don't know, is the magnetic field? I don't know. I hadn't seen that.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Well, they got a short week now up in Seattle. The bill's short week in Denver. We'll talk about that later in the week. Where I'm like, why would they do that? Because both teams played on Saturday like speaking of Yeah, you're talking of bears and Rams and you know? Yeah, it's a jam job
Starting point is 00:31:01 is what it is, man. There's no other way to put it. Like the number one seeds get a short week. Anyway, we'll talk about that later in the week. All right, picks in. Houston, laying the points. Big one for us. Let's stay humble. Let's say humble tonight. Big one for us. Stay humble. There he is. Luke Wilson. Overdrive continues. TSN 1050 and up on YouTube live. Introducing Brian Adams Radio on I-HeartRadio. Hosted by Brian Adams himself. Join me for an insider look on a wild ride through 40 years
Starting point is 00:31:33 of global rock and roll. Brian Adams Radio. I'm ready. Now available on the free IHart Radio app. Or ask your smart speaker to play Brian Adams Radio on IHart Radio. Who's ready to rock? Oh, I go. Kids want to rock.
Starting point is 00:31:51 All right, something to chew. I'm brought you by Boston Pizza. Canada's favorite sports bar this January at BP. Get delicious mouth-watering pasta starting at 1199 every single day. Enjoy the pastas you love. At prices you can't miss, hustle in your local. BP tonight with the news that Brooks Kepka is on his way back to the PGA tour. I guess we're asking, is this going to be the first of many?
Starting point is 00:32:13 Because the new commissioner of the tour has offered up basically an opportunity to three more players. Bryson DeShamo, John Rom, Cam Smith. Return to play policy. The return to play policy based on their credentials and what they've won in their profile. But dude, I love it. The guy's a mover and shaker. And he's like, let's just get these guys back.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Let's not piss about it too much. Yes, they took the money, but it's better for the product, man. It's better for the tour. Totally agree. And I'm not convinced that it will lead to other guys jumping. You know, we'll see. Rom got a lot of money, and he pretended as if he was this maverick that was going to change the game. It hasn't happened.
Starting point is 00:32:49 It won't happen. DeCambo Mike, because he's American. You know, he might look at this and say, this is an opportunity for me to flip again. You know, they all flipped on the PGA, and now they could flip on Live and leave live in their dust if they can get out from the contracts. Cam Smith, I don't think cares. He's just a little gritty, Aussie guy that wants to drink beers and fish and play golf. I don't think he cares about this. He could be wrong.
Starting point is 00:33:11 The guy has got his money. Yeah, I don't think he cares that much. But I think getting Capco, I agree with you. If you're a fan, I don't care what the penalty is. They're going to give the penalties. That's for the other players on tour to feel like, okay, they've been granted something because of this. I don't even care. I just want to see them play.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I don't even care if he ends up. I'm sure all the players are like, they basically said to the guy, you're going to pay this $5 million donate. And who cares if he even does it or not? Just act like you penalize them, man. And this is a smart play. I agree. If you're the PGA tour, start looking to the future instead of the past.
Starting point is 00:33:47 It was disruptive. These guys bailed on you. It stung. It felt like for a while there. Maybe Liv was going to get you and more guys were going to defact and go. That's died out. Live golf is completely irrelevant, you know, for the most part. In the United States and North America, like I get it's bigger around the world.
Starting point is 00:34:04 and go for it, give it a shot. They're already going to 72 holes, I believe. They're getting rid of shorts. A lot of the stuff they were trying to do early on. The team golf stuff just doesn't land with people. Like, they're just not following the fireballs and, you know, all these goofy names. It's goofy stuff. It's goofy stuff.
Starting point is 00:34:22 And it didn't land. And Greg Norman was the face of it. He's no longer a part of it. He's gone. It's just try to get Kepka, try to get the Shambor. If you can get Rom, great. And that just ends live and move on. And the PGA tour will be great.
Starting point is 00:34:34 it's already in a very good spot. And they're back in action this week in Hawaii, and Kepka's going to play at the farmers and the waste management. How about stinky old VJ getting in there? He's weasled into the roster. VJ's thing. Stinky. He weasled in as like a top money earner or like past major chance.
Starting point is 00:34:55 I don't know what is exemption. Money. It was a money exemption. It was a lifetime money exemption. He said, I don't care if I'm bumping a guy off this. I'm going to play into Sony. Yeah. Can you what those honka shoes he's got going on?
Starting point is 00:35:07 It is an absurd look. You've got to see this guy's wheels out there on the course. He doesn't even wear golf shoes. He wears honka runners. Dude, I've seen him. When I was at Augusta last year, I was watched. I was captivated on the range. VJ is on the range.
Starting point is 00:35:22 With fluorescent, orange, and yellow honka shoes. What's a honka? It's like those joggers or something. And he's got these slacks on with them. It's a garbage look. It's a crazy vibe that VJ has. And you're right. He's like, I can get on tour and I'm taking it.
Starting point is 00:35:42 And that means he's on and someone else, I believe, is off. But he is going to play the Masters until he's 85 years old. They will boot his. I don't think they will. No, I know, but his approach is, I am going to Augusta National until Fred Ridley literally boots my ass off his top. Yeah, because most guys, you know, it happens every year.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Freddie couples, every year, it's like, all right, that's enough. You know, I'm 65. I can't play anymore. I've had a great run. But V.J. is not going to get the point now. Fred Ridley is going to have to go into Butler Cabin and get pissed drunk to have to get the nerve to tell VJ you're not coming back. Yeah, that's going to be, I can't wait for breaking news. Vijay has been told to leave the premises.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Consider yourself a non-passed winner. You're not welcome back. Yeah, I think that that's definitely possible. But today we officially launched the PJ Tour, TSN 1050, want you to be the unofficial correspondent at the Players' Championship down in Jacksonville. I presume Capco will be there, Brooks Capco will be there. We're not just sending you to the players. You're going inside the ropes with full access.

Starting point is 00:37:29 return to the tour. All right, Leaves in Colorado tonight. Why don't we come back? You can fire up your mood meter. Rapid fire mood meter, and we'll tee up this game one more time. The biggest litmus test of the year. Colorado's waiting for you. They're the best team in the league.
Starting point is 00:37:43 They've been basically killing everyone. The Leaves have been awful on the road this year. They've got four road games this week. You've taken care of business recently. They're playing really well. They're healthy. They're feeling good. The vibes are electric.
Starting point is 00:37:56 You've got to start winning on the road. Tonight would be the biggest statement you can make if you can find a way to win it. We'll tee that up, get to our best bets. Oh, we'll have his mood meter. We'll do that next. Seasoned gamer or just video game curious. This Weekend Gaming is the podcast for you.

Starting point is 00:38:39 This January at BP get delicious mouth-watering pasta starting at 1199 every single day. Enjoy the pastas you love at prices you can't miss. Hustle into your local BP tonight. All right, best bets powered by Fandall. Make your picks and assemble a same game parlay in seconds on the Fandallis Sportsbook app. Houston laying the points tonight in Pitt. I think their defense shows up. I think they make life for Aaron Rogers miserable this evening.
Starting point is 00:39:05 CJ Stroud, he's got to have a night. Definitely got to have a night. But I think you can, I think this Houston defense can put a lot of pressure on this Pittsburgh offense. So I think if you can get to 17, 20 points, you got Houston winning and covering tonight. Best bets powered by Fandwell. Same game, Parley is now available for every NFL game on the Fandrell Sportsbook gap. Please play responsibly 19 plus physically low. located in Ontario, Leaveson Colorado tonight. Needless to say, a massive underdog tonight.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Payne like plus 190, plus 195. But this would be the biggest game of the year, right? Biggest win of the year. Find a way to win this game. And Wall is playing. Wall played well the other night. That means he'll be a go tomorrow in Utah. It's the ultimate, like everyone talks about a statement game, measuring stick game. Colorado's clearly the best team in the league. I think there's been a GM that's come out and said, I don't mind our team, but there's no way in how we're beating Colorado in a seven game series this year.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Like, they're that team. So let's see what you got. Yeah. What do you got tonight there? You're going in with a positive mindset, right, the way they've been playing. Yeah, the thing is, is you've got an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Like, if you look at it, Colorado is they have not had any adversity this year. Nothing. You know, so their adversities, they lost two in a run. That was their adversity. So at some point, you are going to be able to get them. They're not going to just win out this season. So you've got to play them hard. And their goaltending, I believe it's Wedgwood playing tonight.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Did somebody, I thought it wasn't confirmed. Scott Wedgwood is played. But they had a kid the other day that got his first shutout or got his first win. And I don't think he's starting. So I believe it's Wedgwood. You got an opportunity. He played well against Ottawa, but he also had some luck, you know, posts and stuff like that. So listen, go at it.
Starting point is 00:41:03 And like you said before, oh, they've played well in that building before. It's just it's a wild ride in that building. It seems like there's mood changes and lead changes and all sorts of things. I think the kid is playing tonight. Is that you're saying, JP? Trent Minor is going. Trent Minor is starting. That's confirmed.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Yes, that's what it's not. According to our insider JP. Yeah, I don't know. Masters posted a picture of him and said he was starting tonight. Who knows? Okay. Masters is probably still on vacation. You don't hear the name Trent too often anymore.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Trent Minor? Yeah, like. Nice handle. Trent minor. Everyone knows a Trent with a little mullet at the back and a little mustache. Always a mullet and a mustache. Your name's Trent. Always.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Like you're born with them. I grew up with a Trent. Yeah. It's been a minute since I've heard that name. I haven't heard of Trent, but I know I can close my eyes and see him. He's got a mullet in the clink for fighting before. He's been thrown in the clink for fighting before. Definitely, definitely.
Starting point is 00:42:02 All right, so the mood meter, we haven't brought this out in a while, but we figured with, you know, there's some teams in this country going in different directions here. We put you on a spot-o. One through seven, the Canadian coaches, and the mood meter. Do you want to begin positively, negatively? I'll go positively. You start at one. Okay, what do you have?
Starting point is 00:42:22 I go with one. I got my boy, Chris Knoblock, because I think he's watching McDavid every night, and he loves. He loves what he's seeing. And they're most likely going to win the division. The dire times are done, and I gave them 0% chance of making the playoffs a month and a half ago.
Starting point is 00:42:44 They're going to win their division. The Edmonton Oilers and Chris Knoblock. Knoblock and won. Okay. Number two? Number two, Marty St. Louis. Marty St. Louis at number two. I think they're playing well.
Starting point is 00:43:00 They dealt with some adversity. Maybe their goal tendings getting short up a little bit. Marty St. Louis at number two, do you guys... I don't have a hub. I would have a lot. Who's ahead of him, personally? Who's ahead of the standings? That's where I...
Starting point is 00:43:13 That's where I go with that, Brian. You look at Montreal had seven games on the road. they picked up 10 points to come home, they get a win. Like I think St. Louis looks at the standings like he's happy. Barubi still wakes up and they're on the outside looking in, even though they're 7-0-2. That's the only reason. It's my list.
Starting point is 00:43:33 It's my list. Thanks for explaining. Okay, okay. But that's my reason. Go ahead. Just explain my reasoning. Go ahead. Next on the list is your boy and all of our boys,
Starting point is 00:43:42 Craig Barubei. It's fair. Got to be happy with what you're seeing lately. They're kind of digging themselves out of the mud, and they posted some wins. their best players starting to play. They're getting goal-tending from their two goalies. All of a sudden, their third goalie wants to come back in,
Starting point is 00:43:58 which is also a positive. Craig Barubi at number three. Number four, Ryan Huska. My guy, Ryan Huska, because he's probably looking at the flame saying, this is what they handed me. There's not much I can do with it. They are where they are,
Starting point is 00:44:13 and unless they decide that they're getting rid of players or adding players, or this is the best I can do with these guys, they act like they care they pick off some wins what else am I going to do after that might be a shocker for you guys kind of the same scenario
Starting point is 00:44:29 for my friend Adam Foote you guys saw them on Saturday man that might be the easiest two points It's ugly how bad it is in Vancouver Dude I can't get over and I message somebody about this I can't get over what EP40 has become I can't believe it
Starting point is 00:44:45 I almost put in the group chat like he looked like he was playing other than the power play that I saw him but he was I just I can't believe imagine like I know I had a lot of meetings of my life with Jimmy Rutherford what he thinks watching that boy that guy 11 million dollars just so it's feeble you know it's just it's just you're just out there and oh it's tough man it's it's it's an inner squad mood for him it's like what are you doing out you're you're too good but I don't know he's I don't know what they do out there because they're they're rebuilding but they don't want to go scorched dirt.
Starting point is 00:45:18 They want to keep veterans. You know, they're stuck with Patterson. You're stuck with him. I think you're fine to be stuck with him, but you've got to figure out what you're going to do with the other guys that are on long-term deals that have no-move clauses. You know what the crazy thing with Matt?
Starting point is 00:45:33 Patterson is, guys. It just signed them. The Patterson started as soon as the ink dried on that contract. As soon as he signed that contract, that's when this nonsense started. Yes. Basically to the day. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:45 did a deal and then it was like all of a sudden it hit the fan and he was just not the same number six yeah our neal scott arneill scott arneill is just got to be looking at this same we won the president's trophy last year they have won a couple in a row i believe but it's still he's got to be looking at that saying no depth scoring can't keep it out of our net how the hell did this go wrong and the last one i got greenie just with the way things have been going lately he's got to be pissed off saying enough's enough like let's let's let's get a say and let's get out of this. I've got a stat for you guys.
Starting point is 00:46:18 They are number one in expected goals. To score. Yeah, to score and last and expected goals to save. Like there's clearly one major issue there. They're not getting saves. And it's unfortunate. And all the other stuff, you know, the online stuff. Man, I just won't let that die either.
Starting point is 00:46:35 I don't get it. Well, you make a statement, you draw attention to it. No, I know. And they're talking about what people think about the statement in the organization. It's like, what are you doing? Just let it die, guys. But that's, at the end of the day, you draw attention to it. If there is a must win, it's tomorrow for Ottawa against Vancouver,
Starting point is 00:46:54 who's playing tonight in Montreal. Oh, got to be mandatory. You pump them and get two points. The scary part is that Montreal pumps them tonight, and then Ottawa finds a game tomorrow. Or Vancouver finds a game tomorrow. Possibly, if they can. That seems almost impossible the way things are going for Vancouver.
Starting point is 00:47:14 Yeah, I'd like it. like that list. I mean, I would disagree at the top a little bit. So it's my list. I'm a lot of to do it every third time. Yeah. Your list. Noodles, I think you'll be up next in the rotation. All right, I'll do it. So we'll see what happens with the mood meter. All right. There you go. What a day. The Leafs in action tonight. We've got a big playoff game down in Pittsburgh. We've got games tomorrow. We've got games throughout the week. We got Brooks Kepka back on tour.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Bregman in Chicago. There's a firing in Columbus. It's going to be a fun week. crazy week. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes for hopping out today. We appreciate it.
