I don't know if you saw that.
There's a guy who sent a picture.
Did you see our picture that we released? You know, the shaking hands and that? planet i don't know if you saw that there's a guy who sent a picture
did you see our picture that we released you know that
the shaking hands in that
there's a guy and he says releasing these pictures i think i was so
i gotta tell you what they
here what is the new picture that would be talking about extra
it's
three guys that are just be. Oh, I've seen those.
Massive individuals.
With tight jeans on?
No, it just looks like us, but they just blew us up.
It is pretty funny.
It's a good pic.
There's good stuff.
I'll tell you where I screwed up, and I think both of you
guys actually did this, and it would have saved me so much
heartache.
I got a haircut today, and I should have done it yesterday. Doesn't a
haircut shave off like five years?
Yes.
Because you know that.
Dude, I know that. But I'm thinking of my, like, I've got white hair like gray and when
you take a pic and there's like white neck hairs and white ear hairs.
Like dude, you look, I should have got a haircut.
I want to do it again.
The photo shoot, we knew about it forever, dude.
Yes.
I get it.
I get it.
But you should know about the long hair.
Remember when you and I were up in the alumni box and you had the long hair going and they
showed us on the jumbo jaw.
Dude, I look... You almost passed out because you couldn't believe how old I was.
My hair wasn't gray at the time, but I was a monster and I had this like Chris Farley
comb over.
I was so...
Oh my God.
Yeah, there's the three of us in possibly a different universe.
I mean anything's possible but that was sent in.
Oh it looks particularly old in that picture too man.
Like AI pictures are even...
Why do I look... look at you guys.
I look like I'm 5'4".
5'4", 290 with a cookie duster. Who made that picture?
I don't know man. You do look like a bloated Gary Player there or something. I don't know
what's going on with you.
And by the way, we got to find the pic of the alumni box.
Yeah, that one.
Because the hair wasn't long hair. It was just, it was longer than, it was long enough
to like comb over. I don't know why I went i went why did you tell me that that has not only because i i i couldn't you
don't pick up on the stuff when you're around someone all the time
right you're right it was
because i can't else
kind of haircut and five what had you calling me alfred lb on the wealth
uh... is that and i'll go back and find it because i i remember people sending
it but uh... people sending it but
Anyway, I mean it's all good. You got the new haircut. Everyone's supportive
I posted the pics because I think people want to see behind-the-scenes stuff, you know a lot of support
I put up a poll question
On Instagram. I said should Oh dog. How should he feel about this and
overwhelming positive reviews really
feel about this and overwhelming positive reviews. Really?
Overwhelming.
Like I'm talking 80, 90 percentile on the vote saying great pick, everything looks good,
everything's fine.
So we'll go back and we'll find the alumni box picture.
That was from a few years ago.
That was a good one.
We've had some good picks down at the Scotiabank Arena, man.
Like Noodles, UNI, Quartzside, O-U-I in the Alumni Box.
Dude, I told you, for the next 10 years, that Courtside pick of you, where I don't think
in real life you're good looking, but you look good looking in that pick.
Thank you.
Yeah, it is a good looking pick.
It's a good pick.
You look good.
You were prepared.
You were waiting for that moment.
I knew it was coming, man.
You knew it was coming and you delivered, man.
You were like Kauai.
That was the Kauai of picture taking.
You knew the opportunity against Philly and you ran to the corner and you made the shot.
You're absolutely right.
They might have been playing Philly that night, actually.
I know Kauai Leonard was, or no, it wasn't Kauai, it was Kyle. Maybe it was down in Miami. Maybe they were playing the Heat. But you're right. And they might have been playing Philly that night actually. I know Kawhi Leonard was, or no it wasn't Kawhi, it was Kyle.
Maybe it was down in Miami.
Maybe they were playing the Heat.
But you're right, that was my Kawhi moment.
That was game seven against Philly in the corner.
Like you can't beat that pick for me.
I mean that's as good as it gets for me.
And I've told you and you've never listened to me, that's how you got to wear your hair.
It's like fluffed up perfectly at the front
and you don't wear it like that anymore you're one person and i watch
you and i look at you when i'm in studio
i can tell you don't even put product in your hair you wash your hair
dude you don't
there's something going on there but it's not a lot of product i don't spend a ton of
time on it
i'll work on it
alright i will get i'll try to bring the a stuff that was courtside with noodles
Yeah, you had to be ready to go that night. You know what bothers me about that picture is
Was it doogie or somebody did that when the Leafs were playing the Panthers and they put like me looking and they had the pan
I'm like, why was I like what?
The guy that was staring down the other guy who was in a good place
So I kind of represented like the Grim Reaper almost yeah, but it like that's how you were
That was me that was yeah, it was doogie that put that together it was you know
It just it was a weird it's like that that meme or whatever where the guys looking back the guys like a good-looking girl
And he's looking back at the other girl. Yes, and you know that they updated that recently the three of them got back together
That really of the guy looking back at the other girl when he's with his girlfriend
But how did that means what did that was the meme like it was it a real picture taken on a sidewalk?
Yes, oh, yes was oh, I believe I believe so I believe like it was an actual
Picture that's my understanding that it was a live-action pic or maybe it was some part of an advertisement or whatever.
Right.
But it became a, you know, you're with this person, but you're really thinking about that
person meme. And I think it was from 10 or 15 years ago. And recently the three of them
got back together and reenacted the meme. And we'll see if we can find that.
All right. Do you want to post the alumni box?
Joe from the bridge.
We have it up on TSN4.
It does look like Alf.
Oh my.
That, I don't know I don't think I'm like that
good looking I'm better looking than that pic man.
Way better looking.
It just it's a bad life.
Put that up again man.
I can't get over that.
You look like you're 78 years old.
I know. It looks like I're 78 years old. I know.
I look like I'm taking him out for his final Leaf game.
One last Leaf game with O.
Just one more pal.
Let's go out one more time.
O-Dogs make a wish.
That's what it looks like.
Yeah, make a wish.
I want him to go to one last game with Hayes and he's going to throw
me in a black hole after the game and I'm done.
You're 44 years old in that picture, aren't you?
That's five years ago.
That's something like that.
Maybe younger, man.
I might be like maybe more than that.
It's outrageous that pick.
I want that pick to lead it from life.
That's one for you.
Like, I could give you a handful for me that I want to just, I would pay people a lot of
money to just completely wipe it from the internet.
Dude, Carlos got one of me that I'll pay him to take away.
I was working, I almost fought him when he showed this to me, but he waited until he
got home. I was in studio and I mean peak monster, okay?
And I put my feet up on the desk and my shirt, my t-shirt came up and my pro barrel rolled
out and down and Coco took a pic of it and waited until he got home and he sent it to
me. And I saw that and I was like, oh my God.
And that was one of those moments we talked about yesterday
where we're like, I thought I looked good in that outfit,
but I had my feet up and my legs looked like they were
this, like so tiny and my gut was hanging out.
And I'm like, that is so horrific that someone would even
put me on TV looking like that.
I hear you, man. I hear you.
I know it.
We know it.
And yet here we are.
It's a new era.
There it is.
See, there's the original meme.
Yeah.
And I don't know if we have the updated one.
There's an updated one?
Like the exact same three people.
Yeah.
Well, the three of them came back together to kind of reenact that meme.
See, that stage, that's not like a picture down like in Times Square.
Yeah, you're right it's gotta be some
ad campaign or something but uh... anyway this is why you gotta pv other
show at the ascent for watching on youtube and will post all the stuff on
social media people listening on radio streaming or podcasting
is you can see all these packs and
uh... anyway we we got as some barger coming up later in the hour
he's back in right now tonight after what was a great game last night, George Springer
with a grand slam in the eighth.
That was massive because it looked like Liebman was going to flip the switch on those guys.
Yes.
They were close.
Yes.
Like, Lauer did his part and then the bullpen was kind of, they were leaking oil.
Let's call it what it is.
They were leaking oil and Springer basically turned the lights out on the Guardians last
night. That's his 11th home run of the year he's been great
like it's
it's this an interesting poor question
like who
who deserves more
of i don't know if it's an apology or a of
a reassessment of what the expectation was
part of the season george springer
or ross Atkins because
you look at the Jays the Jays are there for their 42 wins 42 and 36 they're two
and a half back of the Yankees to lead the division they're in a wild card spot
and we're almost in July and Santander has barely done anything he's basically
done nothing for this team and it doesn't sound like he's gonna play for
another month Jimenez can't really hit sound like he's gonna play for another month him and as
Can't really hit you know, he's a defensive stalwart at second base far shows barely played this year
It's sure sirs. It's given them three innings. You have 42 wins
Like between Springer who I had no expectation this year like not I didn't I was thinking he might get designated for
Assignment at some point.
Like, they may just say, forget it. We're going to eat the money. We're going to trade
him somewhere. We'll eat 80% of the contract and someone else can take him. I thought that
was legitimately an option. And this guy's been outstanding for him this year. And Ross
Atkins and Mark Shapiro, there was not a tandem, a front office tandem that was taking the heat that those two guys took yeah since I don't know Rob Babcock since John
Ferguson jr. I can't even give you an example and listen the job's not done you
don't get it a plaque or an award because you're two and a half back of
the Yankees at the end of June, but they're playing exciting baseball.
And I was listening to First Up this morning
and Keegan was on with them, Keegan Matheson,
and I thought Keegan made a very good point
that it is entertainment, it's a long season.
You gotta be fun to watch.
They're fun to watch.
Like they hit for power now, Grand Slams,
you got Scherzer back tonight,
and I'm genuinely excited to see them pitch.
And if they had 30 wins right
now I'd be like this is stupid they're gonna hope he's healthy so they could trade him
in two weeks.
It actually means something this yeah now it's fun and this guy can be a contributor
to the success and the mojo they have going forward.
Exactly like it's actually you're excited for him and you're thinking this guy could
really help as opposed to what do I care they stink they're out, Scherz is probably gonna get hurt.
I get there's a cynical view that can be out there,
but I'm excited to see him pitch, man.
If you can help them win, that's a big, big bonus.
I'm really excited to see him pitch.
I just, I want, again, I'm trying to,
I want him to make it through the game.
I want him to have the start that he envisions,
not one where it's like, hey,
didn't feel great. That's the terrifying part. I'm not trying to be negative about it. It's
just this guy, it's been a long time and it just felt like, what did it start with? Just
a fingernail? Wasn't it a nail or a thumb or something?
Yeah, remember it was a shoulder issue and then there was an issue with the fingers
and he kept saying that that's where it all starts.
Right, because fingers attached to the wrist bone,
wrist bone attaches to the elbow
and it was basically that song that applied to him
and he's like, I need all of this to connect for it to work
and I hear what you're saying and it's totally reasonable he hasn't pitched a lot in the
last few years right but they could use him he is Mack Scherzer and you know if
he gives them anything and they're in a good place in terms of the bats in terms
of everything else that's going on for the most part in the rotation I thought
Lauer pitched very well again last night you know all of a sudden they might have
a five-man rotation something they haven't really had all
year. So, Addison Barger on that coming up in about 15 minutes, get his take on kind of the mood
around the team with with Max Scherzer back in the mound. You know we're we got the NBA draft
tonight, we'll get to that. Josh Lohenberg a little bit later this afternoon, the Raptors
pick at ninth. A lot of rumors out there about who they might pay occur who they could acquire derek white is out there
possibly with the self-diction there's some rumors that
rappers could be kicking tires on him
uh... and you know we're waiting to see what happens
in the nl's we get closer to uh... free agency closer to the draft and
today of ander cain was flipped from edmonton to vancouver i know that like
it's money and it's maybe he took too many penalty.
They're going to miss that guy, man. Like, yeah, he was a player.
Like he, I know he missed a lot of time with the injury, but I,
like you go to other than like McDavid and dry side and then RNH Hyman,
like he was right up there with those guys and a lot of the playoff series,
he was right behind McDavid and Dry-Sidle,
like potting goals and being feisty and standing up
to the bullies on the other team.
Like he was a big part of it, man.
They're going to miss that guy.
There's just no question.
He's a unique player for sure.
But I think there is sometimes with him, my biggest worry
is I think there is an expiration date with him
like I don't know like again you know it all looked great against Dallas it
looked good against Vegas but then when when you like I say you love the guy
when he's doing great things and you can't do great things all the time but
at some point I think you're looking at okay this guy's rolling in in a
Lamborghini and you know and then you take it to penalties in the first
period in the Stanley Cup final
you're like at some point not to mention they do need the cap flexibility and I think he's just a
Victim of that and I by understanding is they're gonna trade Arvidsson choose that's four million like they're trying to free up money to pay
Obviously they got to pay the guys are gonna get get raises, but they made some mistakes last year and they're going to get out from underneath them and they got to start again to bring
in players to...
I really think they do need a player to play with Dry Settle, a top six forward to play
with Dry Settle, not just makeshift people, like somebody who is good enough to keep up
to them or good enough to have chemistry with them.
Kane, you're right, I think they're going to miss him, but I think it also might be just a different attitude
and just a different look.
That's, you know.
Yeah, and listen, the flip side of it is Vancouver, which, you know, they take on the full contract.
He's got a year left at 5.4, 5.5 million.
Yeah, like 5.5.
They gave up a fourth round pick.
It's basically a salary dump.
But, you know, Kane, he has
had a lot of injury issues. They don't have a lot of cap space out there. There's not
a lot of flexibility in Vancouver. So if you're going to take him, is that your only move?
Like, does this basically signal that Besser's definitely gone? And if so, what else are
you going to add? Because Kane can score when he's healthy, but he needs help to do that.
He's not a one-man scoring machine.
And from Vancouver's perspective, I would think Adam Foote likes the way that this guy
plays, because he's genuinely tough, man.
Like, if Andrew Kane does not mess around, he can beat the hell out of basically anyone
in the league.
He will fight literally anybody.
He's tough.
He plays tough.
He's been around. He's a veteran. But Vancouver, are they a playoff team next year?
I'm not sure.
They're going to be interesting, that's for sure. If you said what are they next year,
I don't know if anybody knows that, man.
Exactly. And I don't think this changed it one way or the other. Obviously this would
signal to me they think they can make the playoffs and they want to because why
else would you bring in Kane without the expectation that he's gonna help you
play playoff hockey you know like that's where he shines I think the most so from
Vancouver's perspective this would signal we got to get the band back to
kill we got to get back in the playoffs well you got to find a way to do that
here's something that was said to me.
Vancouver had a gong show on their hands last year in the dressing room.
Had to get rid of JT Miller.
I know, but how did you bring in this guy?
To bring in Evander Kane in the exact same spot.
That's a weird one, but I don't know.
That's the, again, that's the cynic in in me going listen. I think of Andrew Kane's a unicorn
I've said that a million times. There's Brady Kachuk. There's Tom Wilson
There's a Vander Kane guys who can kind of those five tool guys that do it all because they can fight too
But but you know Kane has some baggage. There's you're not you're not hiding from that. That's that's it's well documented
But he is a hell of a player, but isn't Vancouver trying to clean up like certain
Maybe just you got to get that Pederson going Quinn Hughes. What are you doing?
Like maybe it's it says to Quinn Hughes like we're not throwing in the towel. We're going there. We're adding players
We're trying to get better. We're gonna be a playoff team because we want you to stay
We're not gonna put a rebuild in here when you're in your prime. That's what I mean. That guy is that Pettersson.
I give her if we did some kind of list next year in training camp, like most fascinating starts to
watch players in the NHL, Pettersson would have to be at the top or close to it. Very, very high on
that list. Like what are you and what and what are you going to be this year?
I'll be tuning into Canucks games because I can't wait to see what he's going to morph
into next year.
Yeah.
It's mandatory that he's a star.
He's supposed to be a superstar.
The fact that that's up for debate really symbolizes the season that they've had.
But yes, I do think Vancouver and their their ownership the reputation of their owner has always been not accepting rebuilds
not accepting missing the playoffs do whatever you have to get in and this
would suggest they're continuing to push down that road but as for Edmonton you
know like what what is becoming a reality is that there's going to be a
few guys that are getting paid a lot of money.
You know, and it's McDavid, it's Dry Settle, it will soon be Evan Bouchard.
You throw in Darnell Nurse, you know, we've discussed this, but that's four guys that
are going to take up a lot of the salary cap.
So they're in different positions.
That's the one thing that's different.
Yeah, it's not.
But that's I'm not I'm not tying it to the leafs necessarily.
I'm just what I'm not tying it to the Leafs necessarily.
What I'm saying is, Noodles, the fact is you have to dump a guy that you like.
Dump him.
And maybe they just wanted to get rid of Kane.
But they got nothing for him.
What they got was $5 million in cap space.
But they basically said there's a good player who played every game he could play and you're
just out.
And Arvidsson, they're not going to get anything for him.
What could they possibly get for Victor Arvidsson when the whole league knows they're just dying
to get rid of him?
That's what it sounds like.
Well, they're not going to get anything.
They signed him for free.
They're going to get rid of him for nothing.
And then you're going to use that money to try and get better players.
That's in the end.
That's the thing.
Sure.
Easier said than done.
But yeah, no, I think you made a mistake in Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner.
You tried and it didn't work.
And you're going to move on from them and you're going to have to use that money a little
bit wiser, a little bit sharper.
Did they both get bought out or something?
No, Arvidsson is...
No, they're both going to be moved.
I mean, Arvidsson...
Skinner's a free agent.
Skinner's out.
Yeah, he's out.
Yeah, he's out of one.
Skinner's money comes off the books.
Arvidsson has termed, but he, again, this is just insiders,
saying that he's willing to move. So you're going to move on from him, you're going to
move on from Kane, you're going to move on from Skinner. You need to find players that
are better than him.
Where you need to find a goalie is where you need to find him.
I thought this is what I was going to bring up. Kane to Vancouver.
I mean Vancouver needs to move a goaltender because Sheloffs isn't going to make it through
waivers.
I thought I was joking tongue in cheek with Gino today.
I'm like surprised Demko was.
I wouldn't be surprised if that conversation was had.
Demko is another guy that I just I don't know if you can trust.
He's a younger Max Scherzer. That's what he is is he actually gonna play yeah, you know because if he does you're getting us
You're getting a borderline superstar goaltender. You know like when he plays and when he's healthy
He's he's a star. You know he's a great great goaltender, but
He has not been healthy like his whole career has just been riddled with injury and last year he just barely played
You know, so you're taking on a lot of it's a big gamble, but I would make the case that in Edmonton
You know you turn over every stone
but if you if you if it in the end, it's Demko or
You know an okay goalie I, I might roll the dice.
Like I might just say.
Go with Demko?
And go with Demko.
Why, but I.
Because the upside is so significant when he's healthy.
He's a top 10 goaltender.
Exactly.
When he's healthy, but the thing is is.
If he's healthy though guys.
No exactly, and that's the big thing.
My tongue in cheek joke was, like that's,
you're gonna have to pay a lot to get Thatcher Demko
because they're going to value him as a healthy goaltender.
Well, Vancouver will, but will the rest of the league?
I don't know what that trade looks like, Noodle.
I really don't.
Well, I think he's a top-tier goaltender if he's healthy.
I don't have his medical report in front of me.
When he got back and fell, it was a different injury.
The guy hurt his back or something like that. That's back or something like that I can give you his game log
history it's not much the last two years but I mean he was if you look at it in
the from the bubble on outside of the last two years the guys played 60 games
had been pretty pretty darn good that's the biggest thing you don't want to
trade I think Vancouver's fine taking Evander Kane they're not gonna give a
goaltender that could be a top tier goaltender back to an
inter division rival.
That's valid the fact that it's Edmonton.
I would have a challenging time determining the true trade value of Demko because again,
two years of injuries, significant, it's
a big contract and commitment.
Like you said, Vancouver is not really in a position of leverage because they have to
trade somebody.
They just signed Lanken and I don't think they're going to trade him.
They just gave him that deal and Shilov's, like you said, is a good young goalie.
He just won the AHL.
Yeah.
But he also-
And two years ago, we saw him. Yeah. yeah and he also saw him yeah so what is the
layoff that vancouver has i think the leverage is that you gotta you know if i'm a team like
philadelphia and i want a number one goaltender because they don't have anybody like you you are
going to give up something of significance to get thatcher demko if in in case or if in fact
vancouver wants to trade him they might just go
we're gonna move away from Sheloff you know there's Sheloff played well in the
playoffs let's not forget at the end of the at the beginning of the season last
year they handed the reins to Sheloff he played himself into into the AHL but
guys that's why they brought in like much is what we talked about yesterday
like how much is this trying to impress on Quinn Hughes that we're trying to put together a contending team for his last, how many years
does he have on his deal?
Two?
One?
Two years.
Two years.
So like is this like, is this whole thing trying to prove to Quinn Hughes, like if he's told
them he's going to play out the two years, like this is what we're going to assemble
to try to make you happy to stay?
Like how much is that?
Like if they don't get to Demko, is he going to say we're going to bat with with Lankton
in as our goalie?
Like come on man.
Well, that's a valid point.
I mean, Lankton actually saved them early in the year.
Like what they're telling Quinn Hughes would be interesting to know.
Like this is what we're going to do for you or this is what we're trying to do
To try to appease him because who knows what his thought process is or his mandate to the team as far as his future
Well, and again, I don't know if this matters it may or may not but JT Miller was an American
He's out Brock Besser is an American looks like he's leaving Demko's an American
He made like I wonder if Hughes is looking around saying he's out, Brock Besser's an American, looks like he's leaving, Demko's an American.
I wonder if Hughes is looking around saying, you know, these guys were my buddies and they're
all Americans and now they're all out.
Which may be a complete coincidence, it may not matter, but maybe it does.
You know, like it may be a scenario where he's like, what's going on around here?
And you're right, I think Queen Hughes is clearly on the back burner of everything that
they do, but you can't just force a cup contending team because Quinn Hughes wants it.
Go talk to Conor McDavid about that.
Talk to Austin Matthews.
Talk to all these guys.
I think the biggest thing is that they're looking at it going, we need a couple things.
We need either Thatcher Demko healthy, which again, don't know.
I'm not privy to the medical updates.
Quinn Hughes is at his best.
And Pedersen is what, 20%, 40% of what we thought he was going to be.
For a while there, that looked pretty good on Where you had you know a number one goaltender?
He was a top ten and number a top five top three
Defensemen and I don't know where Pettersson would have fallen a couple years ago
But still a top ten centerman in the league when he was a player right when he was at his height
So it is a weird predicament if you're Alvin you got you go. Okay on paper
I've got these guys, but it's
not, I need context to it. Because the context is, Thatcher Demko could skate and fall down
and get hurt, so now we got Lankin in there. And then Hughes is two years away from Undestricted
Free Agency. Hronik didn't play that well. They brought him in, he kind of was waffling.
Like they've got some stuff to deal with.
You've got a stuff to deal with.
Like Adam Foote's a rookie head coach in the league.
So yeah there's a lot of uncertainty there in Vancouver.
Darren Drager in just over half an hour on this Kane deal, what else could be coming
in Edmonton, Vancouver throughout the rest of the country?
Again Claude Giroux, is he going to return back to Ottawa?
And we're less than a week away from July 1st. Nothing on Tavares, nothing on Matthew
Nyes. What could be happening with the Leafs as we move forward too. Jay's back in action
in Cleveland tonight. Addison Barger will join us. He's back in the lineup tonight.
We'll get his take on what's been a great, great two months for him. Max Scherzer back
on the mound tonight. Lots to get into with him. Overdrive continues. TSN 1050N on TSN4. enjoying the sun in style choose from designer frames like Ralph Lauren coach Michael Kors and more arrange an eye exam at pearlvision.ca and get 40% off

Darren Drager in about a half an hour Josh Lewenberg with a a Raptors and NBA draft primer a little bit later on and Jerry's
percentages in about an hour. Jerry's been a busy guy so I'm sure he's got a
lot of takes and we'll catch up with Jerry in about an hour. But the lineup's
out for tonight. The Jays back in action and Max Scherzer back in the mound
tonight. Bichette will play short and lead off tonight and Addison Barger back
in the lineup playing right field tonight. He will hit second with Vladi hitting third.
So Barger's back. He's had a great, great season. We caught up with him a little bit
earlier this afternoon and we began by asking Addison Barger, what's the vibe like with
Max Scherzer on the mound again tonight? I mean, I think we're all excited to watch him compete again. You know he's
a dog and we're excited to see him compete tonight. Well and they were showing you last
night you know like on the telecast you were sitting there talking with Max you know at
different times throughout the game. Like I'm curious what do you are you leaning on
him for advice? Is he asking you for anything? Like what's the back and forth with Scherzer like in the dugout when he's not starting?
Yeah, I think he's got a lot of wisdom. He's obviously been around for a long time and
you know anytime you have a chance to talk to him about whatever it is
it's a good opportunity to listen and learn something.
What's it like playing hockey with some Hall of Famers and legends?
It's kind of like, I don't know, they got my attention and you're always kind of watching
them and what they're doing and how they're acting and how they conduct themselves in
the clubhouse or locker room.
Just what's your vibe been around Max, just keeping an eye on what he does?
Yeah, I mean, he's an interesting dude for sure.
You know, it's crazy just being around a legend like that for sure.
So just observing him and seeing how he goes about his work and his thought process has
been really helpful for me.
And obviously there's a lot to learn from him.
So Addison, before we get into hard hitting baseball talk,
take us through, are you guitar guy on the road?
Do you bring your guitar with you?
Is it, what's your go-to music to play for the boys?
Yeah, do you ever fire it up after a loss?
And just, like, in hockey, you can never fire up anything
after a loss.
So I don't ever bring it to the field or I
haven't yet. I don't know. I got to muster up enough courage to you know pop it out
in front of the boys but I travel with my ukulele because that's easier to travel with
smaller. Okay so what kind of music are we talking about here like what's your
go-to song if Scherzer came up to you and said after the game tonight, I want you to bring the guitar out. You gotta play something for me
What are you playing? I'm probably playing something from Jim Croce
So it's like bulky a lot of finger picking that kind of stuff
Okay, nothing super upbeat kind of lame. All right noodles your guitar guy
Can you play that kind of stuff. Alright, Noodles, you're a guitar guy. Can you play that kind of stuff? For me, it's just around the campfire.
You do the Brown Eyed Girl, Margaritaville, just drinking songs. That's the thing that I used to do.
I mean, you know, you want to get the boys fired up. I mean, I don't know.
I wasn't a finger picker. Like obviously, Addison, you're more
skilled when it comes to the guitar about that. But for me, it was just all about having some fun and getting the boys singing.
Oh absolutely, that's also awesome.
Yeah, just getting four chords going and playing whatever.
I love that man.
Exactly.
Madison Bargeron.
Listen, baseball is a grind.
I'm sure you've been playing guitar for a long time.
I don't know if you have any other hobbies but do you feel like it just allows you to
mentally escape?
Like when you're away from the field, field how important you think that is to kind of
get away from baseball? Oh it's super important yeah like you said it's a
grind the grind physically and mentally and when you're away from the field
you're trying to get as far away as possible so whatever that outlet is for
guys is whatever but yeah for me the guitar ukulele, it's been really big for me.
Is there a group of, we'll call it younger guys
on the team that hang out?
Like what's the road routine if you get into a city
and you're there for three or four days?
Is it dinners?
Is it guys hanging out in the room?
You know, a lot of either PlayStation or PS5,
whatever it is nowadays, online gaming,
like what's the go-to routine for the guys
with the younger group?
Yeah, we'll go get dinner every now and then.
Definitely there's a lot of gaming going on between all the guys.
But it's pretty chill.
I guess it depends if my family's on the road with me or not too.
If they're with me, then I'm just changing diapers and stuff.
But yeah, we'll go to dinner
Okay, that's that is definitely a change of pace if diapers are coming into play or going to dinner with the boys
That is very different
With Addison Barger and I'm curious where Vlad E
You know comes into play on that because you're the same age as Floddy like you're both the same age You're both born in 99 yet
He's been in the league for a long time,
like is he considered one of the young guys on the team?
Is he a veteran?
Like what is the status and the labeling of Vlad?
I think he definitely falls more into veteran
just because he's been in the league for so long already.
Although, like you said, we're pretty much the same age,
he's definitely more of a veteran around the clubhouse. You ever talked to him about hitting? I know recently you discussed
uh trying to hit the ball hard. I know like in the sport of golf a couple of us are golfers a lot of
golfers out there thinking that you know to hit the ball further you just got to swing out of your
shoes and in fact there's a lot of rotational
There's just a lot of science that goes into it. Have you kind of just tried to
Simplify that and just really keep things simple and just try to hit it as hard as you can like just talk about your recent
success at the plate
Yeah, um a lot of it is like I had that speed
I have you know tools that I've worked on for years that have allowed me to have the success I've had.
But yeah, for sure simplifying the swing, not overthinking. Honestly, being free and being
yourself, trusting your capabilities is really important. It's not easy to do at the big league
level. A lot of doubt can creep in there, but trying to maintain your confidence and just
being yourself is I think the most
important thing.
With Addison Barger, I got to believe a lot of that confidence comes from your manager
where you got called up on April 15th, first seven, eight games up with the big club, struggled
a little bit.
I think you had one hit in your first seven games and then you've taken off since.
I think that first game you played April 15th, I want to say you were seventh in the lineup.
Now you've been hitting second, third, you've been offering up protection for Vlad and for
Beau Bichette.
When John Schneider has come to you and said, hey man, we're moving you up and we expect
big things out of you, how much has that boosted your confidence in the last month or so?
A lot, for sure.
Knowing that they trust me enough to put me
towards the top of the lineup or at the top of the lineup
is really cool.
And it's nice to know that they have that confidence in me
and it definitely gives me a big boost of confidence as well.
So, Addison, growing up, you know, my dad built a small rink
in the backyard to play a little hockey.
I'm sure the three of us all had rinks in their backyard in Canada here.
Did you have a full-size baseball, what, stadium in your backyard?
Like maybe walk us through this and how that all unfolded and maybe, you know, how it's
translated to your development in making it to the majors.
Yeah, yeah.
So we built a full-size major league infield
in the backyard.
So we moved to Tampa, Tampa from Seattle.
I was like five years old, 2005.
And my parents decided to build a house after a few years.
And my dad wanted to build a baseball field in the backyard.
And- So what happened when you wanted to launch balls, like where did the balls go if you started launching them all over the place?
Where did they end up? Someone's backyard or what?
So to right field it pretty much was just land like you know it would go on forever.
It's by you know what eight acres out there, so there's enough land just to the ball to right.
Center and left field we have like the pool area and left field that was
like 200 feet away so that didn't I probably broke some windows a couple
times and then I think we just stopped hitting on the field probably around like
11 or 12 when I stopped hitting on the field there just we just hit in the cage
yeah you can't get in trouble either like you talk to your dad so you built
the thing man
I'm just launching baseballs. I don't know where he was the one throwing me BP. So, you know
Yeah, your mom probably would exactly are you like a big feel the dreams guy do you have you watched that movie
15,000 times or what I've watched I've watched it a couple of times
My dad is definite definitely a big field
dream guy for sure. He's always been the one that's worked with me, played catch, all that.
So he loves that movie. He does talk about it quite often.
Yeah, for sure. With Addison Barger, back in the lineup tonight playing right field
and you kind of jockey between third base and right field, probably playing more right
field in the last little while are you getting comfortable
out there do you have a position that you feel you want to play on a daily
basis you know moving forward I mean yeah you know I came up with a short
stop I'm a natural infielder started playing outfield a couple years ago I
don't know if I I don't know I don't know that sounds bad but I don't really
care where I play on the field I guess like it doesn't really if I don't know I don't know if it sounds bad, but I don't really care where I play on the field
I guess like it doesn't really you know doesn't really matter to me. I don't really have a preference
I like playing right I like playing third, you know wherever I hit in that line up is I'm more than happy to play
That's probably the attitude that John Snyder wants to hear man
I can guarantee you that like that that's that's what I'll keep you in the bigs
And I mean you're playing great the team's playing great
I'm curious you know before we get you out of here if you And I mean, you're playing great. The team's playing great.
I'm curious, before we get you out of here,
if you can kind of compare and contrast
the mood around the team when you arrived
a couple months ago, where it's a bit of a slow start
for the club.
And now when you look at where you guys are at,
you've been red hot now for the better part
of a month, month and a half.
You're two and a half back of the Yankees.
You're in a playoff spot.
What's the mood like today compared to maybe a couple of months ago in the clubhouse?
Yeah, the vibes are really good right now.
You know, we're having fun. We got a good group of guys.
We're all we're all pretty tight.
Yeah, the vibe can't really get much better.
I don't think even a couple of months ago, it wasn't it wasn't necessarily bad.
I think a lot of the guys have faith and trust in the team.
So even if we are, you know, going through, you know, we lose a couple of games or whatever, we have a lot
of confidence we'll get back into it and win some ball games.
Yeah, that's what Blue J fans want to hear. It was a fun one last night and it'll be a
fun one with Mack Scherzer back on the mound tonight and Addison Barger back in right field.
So good luck tonight. Good luck moving forward. Thanks for doing this Addison, we'll do it again down the road.
Sounds good, thank you for having me.
There he is back in right field tonight Addison Barger in Cleveland. You got
Max Scherzer on the mound, Jay's playing well, big win last night. Fun team to watch right now,
so we appreciate him taking time for us. We got Darren Drager coming up in about 20 minutes Jerry's percentages in about 45

Darren Drager coming up soon.
We got Jerry's percentages.
Jay's back in action tonight.
We're talking about the Oilers, you know, goaltending pursuit with Amanda Cain being
traded today and now, you know, Noodle's are saying they gotta find someone to play
with dry saddle but they also need a goalie fan duel has the odds
as to who will be starting game one of next season for the Oilers Stewart
Skinner is the favorite at minus 125 I don't know how he's the favorite to be
honest with you I really don't yeah you just don't see him start no I don't I
don't and I have no idea what the hell you it's a difficult thing to
Do to find goaltenders like there's the usual suspects. Are you gonna go after a John Gibson?
Are you gonna try to find the Stolar scenario? I don't know, but I don't think it's him. I think it would be such a weird vibe
Having him as your number one guy starting next year. Same as Conor McDavid is the same as Quinn Hughes,
where you're like, aren't they trying to show him
that they're gonna try to revamp this thing?
Like there's a lot of work to do for them too,
paying people and making things happen
and getting other people.
It's like to show McDavid,
because McDavid said, winning is everything.
So that puts the onus on
Jax and Stan Bowman to say this is the lineup that's gonna do it or else
He's gonna be like I don't believe in this
Would not send a great message
No, I think yeah, I think you you're I keep saying this a lateral move is still a move
you're like you saying this a lateral move is still a move
so you know that that's the
i i do those that they did the colorado thing
where they they flipped out both and had two different guys what could it look
like
i wouldn't do to white calvin pickard makes eight hundred fifty grand in the
meeting at twenty two wins for them last year as a backup
and was seven and one of the playoffs okay i'm sure back up backup, who's going to be the guy that leads the charge?
I told you guys, it's Elvis...
Elvis Mervillekins.
Elvis Mervillekins.
It's guys like that.
It's a lateral move, a guy who can have a clear butterfly, a guy who can move laterally,
like a different look.
Well, let me throw out the other names on here.
Okay, go ahead.
This is Fandu, again, this is all odds.
Yeah, but they don't know what the hell they're talking about with goalies.
The reason Skinner is there is because how could you know who else?
You've got John Gibson plus 340, the field plus 390, that's even an option really because
if it's Skinner versus the field, I guess I would probably lean on that.
It seems like a good bet, plus 390 for the field sure. I'll take it Jake Allen
Calvin Pickard who could be a starter that night doubt it, but maybe there's an
or something and but what they have what I find interesting is now this is like I
Think 60 to 1 or something, but Joseph wall is on that
List as a guy that would they call and try to sniff out one of the two leaf goalies
Why like they're there that would be there's no lateral move is it not like that's where you get it
It's not like but it what are you paying for them? Why would tree trade one of those two? Who's coming to take his job?
I don't know. I mean, I'm just saying they're on the list
I mean, I wouldn't trade one of the leaf goalies personally.
I think that's the best way to make sure that you're kind of playoff proof is to have two
good goalies.
Yeah, we've seen it in the past where the other guy is like not a capable backup and
then all of a sudden somebody gets hurt and you're like, oh God, that guy's got to go
in.
That's a dangerous danger.
Right.
Like if there's all this concern Marner's leaving and what about the what do you have a good goalie at net every night?
You're gonna make the playoffs. That's what I say
I don't like that list because why would Joseph wall even be on that like there's I think there's a chance
Maybe zero chance that that they like tree would trade any one of his goaltenders right now
Like what's the the monsters name there in the minors?
one of his goal tenors right now but what's the the monsters name there in the miners
that he'll get a silver the uh... hildebeg and there's another of the
russian kiddo
the odds of having a chat up and out his name of the after it but he he's he's a
couple years away he's got a chance to be a good call they say he's the next
russian carry price
yeah i russian carrier hall of famer. Well, not a guy in San Jose. That guy's been the next carry price for I
think almost 10 years. Dude, Scaroff has been the next carry price for 10 years, I think.
Yep. Well, yeah, he's going to get his chance this year because they moved out the goaltenders
like they're looking for a backup to play with him. I remember in the World Juniors
one year, Ray said he might be the next Kerry Price,
but he can't hold onto his stick,
because he was dropping his stick everywhere.
Four times in one game, I watched him drop it.
And I'd never seen the guy play well.
But he plays unbelievable in the minors,
and he's had some good games at the NHL level.
But I just, I think it, again, I think you're looking,
and it might not be the sexiest choice on paper, but how is that gonna translate?
Noodles out of the 32 teams in the league be straight up with me. Yeah, how many teams do you think?
Love their goaltending
Eight
That's scary stuff man one and four one and three, you know like
Teams out of 32. Why isn't there any and I know
like it just seemed like back in the day everyone had a heater goalie. Yeah but
the games changed too now the game is so faster. Sport science are not allowing
guys to play back-to-back it's all of that type of stuff. Guys are conditioned
not to play back-to-back it's more, how can we get a guy to play 55 and now you need somebody to play 35. So that's the tandem situation.
Like I've never been disappointed in Stuart Skinner's durability. He got hurt, yeah, he got
bonked on the head down the stretcher. Guy played 82 games the year before, including playoffs, like he's a durable guy.
I just think that they might be looking
for a different looking net, just the way that they defend,
the way that they stop pucks.
He would be a casualty, this is why,
we'll get into it here in the five o'clock hour,
because it's a lazy argument to go,
they lost because of goaltending.
They didn't lose because of goaltending.
They didn't win because of it either, but they didn't defend that well. We talked about McDavid and Dries
out of it.
Yeah, best players weren't that great in the biggest games.
They weren't that, like there's, you know, they're in the Stanley Cup final, but there's
growth to be had by everybody involved there too, not just the goaltender.
