What's going on guys? How we feeling this afternoon? Well I was getting the word about
the Pro-Am this morning and one of the golf insiders told me of a verbal exchange that
was reminiscent of Davis love yelling at a fan, remember that when the fan was saying no love for you yeah with Brian Hayes yelling at of all people the Grappler did you yell at the
Grappler during the pro I was yelling at the Grappler wandering around in the
fairway yes he wanders around the guy's 7 foot how is he between the ropes he's
just motoring around totally aloof to everything right he's eight feet tall eight feet tall just walking around as if he's the
president of golf Canada is trying to hit a shot and the grappler is standing
yeah that was a big part of it so the host today our friend Lawrence Applebaum
he's trying to get out of some danger he's in a bit of a precarious position
on the course and there's the grappler as if he's walking through Trinity Bellwood's see on a Saturday
Just completely oblivious to everything. He framed it to us that you guys were a little upset
Like he was like remember the Seinfeld episode the pilots in the crowd
That was a part of he framed it that he was making you guys have the yips type of thing because he was standing there
There was there is an awkward energy when the grapplers around he's kind of around the green guy
without even wanting to be he has a lot of the same characteristic and I know
you in your relationship you would have wanted to rip his head off you got to
understand I I actually bombed a drive on this particular hole.
It was on 16 or 17, so I'm actually further up the fairway and other guys are coming through
are playing with David Lipski, an awesome guy, LA guy, big Kings fan.
His dad's been a ticket holder down there for like 35 years.
And he's trying to get ready to hit.
He's preparing for the tournament.
Lawrence, the CEO of Golf Canada, is just trying to move along with his golf ball yeah and there's the grappler when I
didn't know he was gonna be here that's another part of it if I see doogie yeah I
know doogies in attendance if I see the gap man if I see any if I see Bob Weeks
I'm like there's weak see yeah I had no idea the grappler was gonna be here well
this guy just started wheeling around just in the way of everything
because it's a luxury place. Yes. We were, I don't know, name a place. If we were in
Keswick down by a river or something, the grapplers not showing up. There is, I know
his routine. He came in, he took six Gatorade, three tailor made hats, a couple of shirts,
and he is probably walking through the clubhouse right now getting himself a wedge. Hey, I'm Keith Bauer
Like he's a shooter around here and we love the grappler and it was cool. It was great to see him
It was just surprising to see him. How was Pendy the Pendy bombs? Yeah, so when he hits one
Yeah, was it like it is it comes as advertised so played with pendrit this morning awesome guy big leaf fan is caddy big leaf fan used to be a
I believe a goalie actually back in the OHL back in the day nice
Absolutely destroys a golf ball like
Hammers golf balls around this place really and it's just a great vibe because there's pros everywhere
It's an amazing setup like this has come a long way Osprey Valley has has been here for over 30 years
I remember coming here with my dad 25 years ago really happy for the owner Chris human
He is unbelievable guy unbelievable guy, and this is his baby, and he deserves
Yeah, all the accolades and all like he's pretty late. He's like the proud papa around here good for him
I just saw him like and I thought I just asked him point-blank. I'm like how you feeling you you happy
Are you proud of yourself like cuz this is pretty amazing and he said yeah
Pretty proud right now like feeling pretty good because the PJ tour is up here. Yeah
Best players in the world. It's an incredible field
McElroy's cruising around Shane Lowry Ludwig Oberg all the Canadians are here. There's great energy. The weather was beautiful today
Yeah, little little hot like it's actually like muggy. it was muggy it was it was very muggy and I
need to I need to clarify a couple things I have a few things I have to get
into from one thing I did that the second I did it I thought to myself I
had no right to pull that move off I pulled off a hero move I'll run it by
you guys in just a moment. You guys
can tell me how you feel about it. Although I know what your reaction is going to be.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm a specialist at hero moves. Let me just throw it out to you before I get
to something else that needs to come to an end. Yes. I've had enough of something in
particular. So when the pros are walking around, there's a lot of kids out here, right? And
kids are always like, can you sign something?
Can I get a ball? Can I get a tee? Can I get a glove? So pender at this? Hey, here's a ball
Here's a ball. I had a scuff mark on a ball. Yeah, and I'm and I'm walking on
I know what you're gonna say man. The kid didn't want you and I threw the ball
The kid was was like why are you throwing the ball at me and it kind of dropped and then I was like I
Gotta go you go pick no I took off because I was like I just have to leave
cuz that kid's like why are you throwing a goal who the hell do you think you are
this guy just threw a ball through a golf ball at me you're you're like you're a
ten handicapper I don't want your golf ball and I thought it was like wow what
a cool hey kid how are you like here I am you know like, wow, what a cool, hey kid, how are you? Like here I am, you know, like in a Coke commercial,
like, hey, there you go, kid.
And the kid literally went,
oh my God.
I don't want that kind of ball.
So he watched the ball hit him,
like it just dropped to the ground.
And then that was the end of the stage.
Basically, and then I left,
cause I was like, you asked the question,
do you stop and grab it?
Not a chance in hell, man.
I just kept motoring and pretending like it didn't happen.
Well you could have pretended it slipped out of your hand.
So hey, sorry, I dropped my ball there, kid.
But I thought I was pulling off a cool move and then I realized I'm not on tour.
No one's here to watch me slashing around TPC Toronto.
But I will say this, played with Taylor Pendrett this morning, he comes up to me three, four
holes in, he goes, I heard the O-Dog shot 64.
And I looked at him, I said, don't start.
I'm not doing this with you.
Thank you for saying that. A tour player is aware that I set the
standard I had combos with RBC Lawrence Applebaum and they said you got to post
something to make these guys chase. It was incredible the amount of people
asking me about this guy's round like absolutely incredible. Here's what I
would say though
i thought you were gonna say no it wasn't a sixty four
it's a sixty two i'd i'd corrected both ways over the course of the day i want
sixty two i want sixty six
another guy comes up to me
and goes hey do you hear
all shot sixty four
uh... yes i'm aware he had 64. Yeah, he shot 64.
Did you hear about that?
I'm like, yes.
So was Pendi the only tour pro that asked about it?
Pendi, surprisingly, was the only player.
Although I believe Mac Hughes brought it up yesterday, did he not?
I thought Mac brought that up when he was on with us.
But David Lipski, I think, has bigger fish to fry than worry about what you shot out here last week.
See, but Mac Hughes actually shot you down because you were like,, you know when you go up on 15 you got to keep an eye
And he was like I'm good. Thank you for your service. We're giving him and I shut your yeah
I think you just got to keep it below the hole boys
And if any of these guys I'll buy Rory McElroy a Guinness tomorrow night after the show if he tops my 64
Oh, that's it. That's what we need. We need the o-Dog. Basically the bar is set. The meter is set. Who's gonna break 64 tomorrow and
throughout the weekend? But a lot of buzz out there, a lot of people asking,
including Pendrit, that is a true story. Said I heard he shot 64. How's he playing?
I said, got to be honest, he's playing pretty well. But you hear McElroy, of
course Keith Pelley was out here playing with him today. And I always wonder
about this.
Like Brad Marsh and troll.
Yes. Like, well, he brings he brings the Leaf jersey out,
which I understand and appreciate.
And Pelly would know McElroy well from when he ran the European Tour. Yeah.
I noticed like no Raptor jersey, no Toronto, no Argos.
Like there's other teams under the the window and the umbrella
of Maple Sports and Entertainment. But there he is up on T the window and the umbrella of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment
But there he is up on TSN to and up on YouTube live
We're at number 25 and I believe we have the clip of McElroy being asked about you know
Get in the Leaf Jersey and how we responded. This is what Roy McElroy had to say about that earlier this morning
You with that Jersey could perhaps and the 58 year drought of the Leafs winning the cup?
Like if the Leafs end up winning the cup it's going to be nothing to do with me, it's going
to be all them.
But I hope they do it.
I was pulling for them hard, especially now that Keefe is involved.
I guess we all got to throw our support behind the Oilers at this point.
But yeah, it's one day, I hope.
Yeah, I was hoping that they were still gonna be in, and maybe we would've been able to
get to a game this week, but I hope so.
I mean, I think it's only a matter of time.
You know, if I can get over the line at Augusta, these guys can get over the line at the Stanley
Cup.
That's a pretty good line. I think that's genuine. That's a pretty good line.
I mean you gotta appreciate McElroy that's stopping with Bob Weeks. Like Weeks
he's got pole around here man. Yeah. Bobby gives you one of these the players go
running. We don't have the same pole to be honest with you. We are nowhere close to the same level. We give it this one and they give it that one.
Or they give a different one.
The O'Doyle.
The O'Doyle way.
They give one back but it's not the actually I didn't see.
Dude I was worried off the hop before you were here.
I had to record a little something.
We were just chatting.
A lady, security, she got the ref jersey on.
She came in here and she goes, you know what she said to me?
She goes, you guys gotta be quiet.
Gotta keep it down.
And I was like, I don't know what to tell you.
She's like, some of the players are complaining, they've heard you guys talking.
And I said, we haven't even started yet.
Yeah, wait until we get to 4pm.
Well, A, we're not that close.
And B, it's the Pro Ams on Wednesday.
I'll tell you what, if Rory or somebody's on the tee over there and we start arguing
about a no goal last night or tonight, and we're arguing about it tomorrow, somebody
might throw a golf club up here.
There's a chance they turn and launch a TP5 right through the back of this.
What she said is she goes, you guys, she goes, we've been sitting down there listening, but
she goes, we couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
She goes, you guys are elevated and it's coming downtown she's
like you guys are down your voices traveling downwind right on top of this
and keep in mind that the type of language that we use off air oh I can
only imagine so what was being set around there were some things being said
that you don't want it to be traveling a mile across the road here what are we
gonna do man we're here like we're we going to do, man? We're here.
It's not like we're here for the next three days and we're going to party
or we're going to have a great time.
And like McElroy's out early tomorrow.
Yeah.
So, uh, but by Friday afternoon, he's going to be storming through here
when we're on the air.
Yeah.
I'm predicting four to five hole in ones here.
You remember that?
I think four or five is, I think a stretch, but I will say after playing
the wrinkle and hitting a little
gap which i'd say inside fifteen feet see i'm talking about what i was
playing for the whites though like they're they were playing a little bit
for the back but it's a thirty nine iron max yes these guys are hitting it's a
it's probably a wedge because you're elevated man
but it's it's a twenty twenty-yard elevation of their downwind that that is
significant so then it should be a guaranteed birdie if a guy's playing well
Well, you should be able to put it inside 10 or 15 feet and then and then I mean now let's remember right now
They have a very inviting pin. There's a chance. They're gonna move the pin around over the course of the four rounds
So there's elevation there's different platforms that they can put it they can protect it a little bit
Maybe they can move the the tee blocks back a little little bit but you're right with the boards up there's
only so much they could do but I like that man I want to see action like we
talked about it every single year there are some really difficult holes out here
where these guys are gonna have to keep it on the rails and then there's some
holes where they can score well and guys are gonna if the weather is good and the
winds down they're gonna shoot they're gonna play well do you think that
somebody will chew this course up like like the day the guys say what you know they thought? Because you know how they toss around what they think will win it?
Was there any of that? I didn't get an answer on that because you're playing you're playing two different nines two different guys in
terms of what they're looking for like right Pendrith is a guy that shows up can win has won
Lipski's won tournaments around the world but not a PGA guy that you would expect you know to come out necessarily torture plays right um listen if you're using
mackleroy is the pace car like if he plays at his best there isn't a course
on earth that can really stop exactly you know like maybe next week at oakmont
like that is creating buzz what is possibly waiting for them at the u.s.
open next week right and i was speaking with pendritz about that like do you
appreciate it like once a year where you know it's going to be like that he said
yeah and the reality is there's some comfort in it because if you if you
bogey a hole at the u.s. open you actually don't really fall down the
leaderboard where if you bogey a hole out here you're probably going to drop
three or four slots right you know like you got a score here you got to keep the
ball in the park and you got to go out and play. But it's, it's an unbelievable piece of land too. Like it's
a massive, massive place. There's the three courses up here. You mentioned Chris, the
owner, just an unbelievable guy. Golf Canada has done a great job.
Nicest guy like you could, it couldn't happen. Unbelievable guy. And he's just motoring around
the club. I was talking with people he owns, literally runs the whole operation.
And owns it every day. Yeah. he's just a great great guy it's a unique like I love it
because I live more north right it's a great setup for you good I'm 40 minutes
door-to-door kind of thing but it was it's a unique way to drive here like
it's not off a highway right you gotta go you're up here you're up here
yeah what do they term is it Alton or Kaladin or what like yeah, it's in the halodin
It's like outside. It's like between Aaron and Orangeville
Yeah, you know it's it is it is out here, but it's worth the drive because it's such a great place
All right, we got game one of the cup final tonight. Ray Farrar will join us just after five get drags coming up
he's out in Edmonton and
You know the build-up we've done it all for the last few days right like what it's what's coming and what I find
interesting is the other stuff happening around the league like Brock Nelson signs
an extension in Colorado today not a bad deal three years seven and a half listen
that the the market for center Iceman is not deep yeah it's not a strong market
that's why John Tavares could be in the driver's seat in some ways. Sam Bennett certainly would be if he gets the free
agency. Maybe Matt Duchenne depending on what he's looking for but he's not a
young guy. Yeah. Like that would appear to me as if Colorado said we got to keep
this guy. What's gonna make everyone happy? Let's make it work here. And I
liked him as a fit there. Like you go McKinnon into Nelson into coil into Drury
It's not a bad very good time to nice looking. That's a nice looking four lines down the middle the weird one is
Neshkesh, you know like yeah, maybe he doesn't want to stay there or what a story is in the future to be honest
Didn't wasn't he a problem him and his dad was a problem
To be honest, wasn't he a problem? Him and his dad was a problem in Carolina because he wanted to be a centerman.
You're not going to be a centerman in Colorado now.
That's because they've already got Nelson there.
Hasn't that ship sailed anyway?
Carolina told you and now Colorado is telling you what's next?
You want to play goalie?
Just be a good player.
I don't know.
It just kind of worries me for this guy that maybe this
there's some baggage there with this guy and it might be the package that comes if the dad's a pain in the ass and you
know he's complaining like he's a hell of a player. He's a really good player. But. What did you say?
Natchez dad is like all involved. Didn't you hear about that in Carolina? Like that was part of the problem like the the deal and
all that like again secondhand information so I should preface my comments with that.
It's not like the GM told me that.
There's a lot of secondhand stuff flowing around these days.
Yeah, I mean, listen, this is the time to do it, right?
Like if you're in the cup final, you're focused on that, clearly.
But if you're a pending free agent, if you're a coach or GM on the hot seat, if you're a
coach or GM or president that's no longer around or whatever right there's
a lot going on out there what's happening what happened why it could
change yeah like the the Marner and Tavares you know scenarios again John
the Tavares camp from my standpoint has been very quiet and the Marner camp too
like I they haven't said anything on the record I haven't heard anything from
Mitch or his rep anybody I don't really suspect you will hear much other than been very quiet in the mortar camp to like that they haven't said anything on the record i've heard anything from itch or is wrapped
anybody i don't really so i think you will hear much other than i like rumors
start building off if something gets locked down from insiders agents but
when you're going to free agency
like i love how they did do they still have that like
time to go into the five five-day window i don't think i think i think i
didn't like it well because they're done everything was done but yeah but but that still happens anyway that
window is still there the second starts now anything anything I mean even if
that windows not there we're on at 1201 it's like a eight-year deal extension
with all of this front-loaded like oh really you did that in the last 60
seconds like it's all done yeah the agents are calling around the GM's are calling around there's tampering everywhere yeah
they're all at the scouting combine like everyone what happens is the agent calls
about one of their own guys on that team and then they're like by the way I got
another guy yeah exactly like you don't even have to say the name you just say
you have an appetite for a superstar right winger that's gonna cost this
amount of money
Yeah, and they'll probably say yes or no, and then you move on. What do you think just get a read? Yeah, if you were gonna look at it, you know, just poking around. What do you think around?
What do you think you would pay for that? You know, oh well pay well
And the thing is, you know, like Colorado just did with Brock Nelson and like other teams are done with their own players
The Leafs can call up Mitch Marner and John Tavars right now and try to get an answer
Doesn't mean they have to give it
give them one I think John would like John would give it in a horse would give
you an answer and they know what the answer is Marner may flush your call but
he's entitled to that as of July 1st he can walk he doesn't have to give you an
answer on anything what is your gut instinct like I think Marner's gone I
personally feels feels that way yeah I think that's safe money and I think the
odds continue to move in that direction yeah Yeah, I think that's safe money. And I think the odds continue to move in that direction.
And but I think he's gone from both sides. Like I think, you know, the Leafs would probably be best served out. Listen, he's a hell of a player. And that's 100 points you got to read, you know, you got to replace. But I think both sides would agree. It's like, okay, some something has to give here. And the other two are under contract and Tavares is 30 gonna be 35 next year so it's one
player really we're circling and Mitch Marner controls his own destiny. Yeah what
I'm curious about is you know what the aftermath looks and sounds like if that
happens if he signs somewhere else let's say he goes to Anaheim on July 1st right
does he play the
game? Do other people play the game on what happened, why he left, does it matter
at that point? Maybe it won't. How do the Leafs handle the PR standpoint and the
PR spin? Because again, when like the reality is this guy is one of the
all-time great Leafs. That's what he is and yes in big games it hasn't been
great. He's not alone. Yes, they never ultimately won, but the stats,
the performance, nine years, he's an eternity in pro sports. He was drafted, developed, he grew up
in Toronto, loved the Leafs. There is a point down the road where I would think the reputation is
going to try and be molded back into a positive light. Let me ask you this, if he does choose to go
play somewhere else, what happens? Like does he get, is his number retired or? I
wouldn't be surprised. But down there, what's the mini Jerry on it? Let's say
Marner leaves on July 1st and never returns at any point in his career,
which is likely. Once you're gone, you're probably not coming back. Well, I
what's your mini Jerry's?
What is he like on team points?
Like for the French?
He's top 10 for sure.
I think he's top five in both or top five in assist for sure.
Look that up, Dougie and find that out.
I think I'm top five in a lot of stuff in Carolina and I don't even get a phone call
from them.
So that doesn't mean squad.
There you go.
I mean, now Carolina doesn't have the same history as the Maple Leafs, but you were there
for 10 years, right? This guy's been here for nine. I'd say the
mini Jerry on 16 going to the rafters, 33%. I'm yeah. Why that number? Why is it? I thought
you were 80 one and third, like one and three. I don't know. I mean, there it is. Okay. Franchise
ranks. Let me read these through. Okay. Um yeah, even straight points. He's seventh all time in the playoffs. He's actually tied for ninth
Points in general. He's fifth all time. He's fifth all time in points in the franchise. Yes, so he's top five in points
He's fourth in assist. He's actually fifth in playoff points, which is amazing. Well remind me though
Who's in the rafters right now
that like is it Sauming? I don't even think you can ever do that Jamie because everyone's
up there for different reasons and has different stats and there's different errors. You just
have to look at that right there and say is that going in the rafters? For me it's no.
I'll tell you why because he's a great player, but I know but if you're top five in points, doesn't it?
Isn't that a yes? Okay, so that the top five for a lot of teams
For a head of him in the rafters well, yes, I mean I'm I without no I mean Sittler and
I'm guessing it's
Salming maybe it Matthews I think might be in the top five Matthews obviously isn't up there he's gonna go up like what if Matthews got traded on
July 1st is 34 going up there's a lot of hardware attached to him I hear you
that's the difference there's hard I'm saying yes to both of them I where does
it where do you draw the line what about 88 well 88 still here no I understand
like I feel like that's a lot like if Willie's here for another seven years and
Plays 18 years as a Maple Leaf. He's gonna own every single record. It's a lock. He's going on. Yes
I think he gets a statue on Legends Row. Well, I thought it has there have to be team success and another thing with Marner is
Does the exit have anything to do with that?
That's why I'm asking because let's be honest when he left
They were booing him every time he touched the puck that last game and I know that's what i'm asking because let's be honest when he left they were bored of every time he touched the park that last game
and i know that's just kind of one isolated five five minutes stretch of
hockey
but that's an awkward exit
he was the booze were
i i i do the whole team with everybody's body i know but when he touched the park
they gave it to him that's
that's a fact right or wrong i'm not this is not an opinion it's factual
information coming across the airwaves i'd just don't know how that would affect it to him. That's a fact. Right or wrong, this is not an opinion, it's factual information
coming across the airwaves. I just don't know how that would affect the jersey going in
the rafters.
Well, and that's, I guess, what I'm driving at. Like, how long does it take for the dust
to settle? No one's suggesting it's going up the first time he rolls back through town.
It's after he retires 15 years from now.
And keep in mind, your legacy gets stronger the farther out you are because people
Look at the cold hard stats
So you're right top five and stat or top five and points if he stays there for years people go
Why isn't you know why we weren't we celebrating him? You know I I think there is an opportunity
I also believe if he leaves at some point in his career. He will come back
I I don't know why.
It might even be a one gamer or whatever.
You're one gamer.
I don't think the one day...
That is something where you got to consider the way you leave, the way it's portrayed,
the way you talk about it.
And again, we'll wait to see how that happens, what that looks and sounds like.
If this happens, who knows?
Maybe he resigns with it.
Yeah, he might resign. but we're speaking hypothetically if he
leaves how does he respond to it how does he speak about it how does he look
back on it what happens the first time he rolls back through town um
but i i think what also would be interesting about it will be
a lot of the the fan reaction and the fan
conversation and debate and I guess the
teams for that matter will revolve around how the team plays moving forward
and I actually think if they were to win in the future it would help his case
because I think it would be a Vince Carter like scenario where if they if
they don't ever win a Stanley Cup and in 15 years he retires or whatever and
people here are still so jaded and angry
and bitter.
I don't think it helps.
Or if he goes and wins somewhere else.
Even that, but I think it's more about Toronto.
Like again, when the Raptors won in 19, that was therapeutic for a lot of Raptor fans.
A lot of them said, who cares about the past?
Bring Vince back.
Hey Alonzo Mourning, come on up.
Like it was like, who cares about how bad it was?
This team won, We got to experience it
Everything's all good
I think the same thing would apply with Marner where if they were to win even without him
It would help his cause in the future for people to just settle their nerves and settle their reaction
Terms of looking back on his career. It could have gone a lot different. Let's be honest like a Mitch was a fantastic player
You just saw the stats right there. They speak for themselves
It could have been a lot different how the contracts went just his media management
But the biggest thing is the winning
Yeah, the winning didn't happen and that's how that like you could talk about a lot of these guys like the
The end of the line when we're looking back on this and and talking about it
It would be
so much different if there was winning involved.
Like all of them get statues, all of the jerseys.
To his point though, it would be false of us and false of everybody to go, he's the
reason.
There's everybody's culpable.
Well, exactly.
Exactly.
That's the one thing that has to be pointed out here.
Mitch Marner was not the problem like there there's
Everybody as a group didn't get over that hump. Yep as that group. He's a fantastic player
I could see him being retired. It just depends on again. I'm looking at it. What's the threshold?
Well, I just don't know what that again. Listen, there's a lot unfortunately with this organization
There's a lot of great great players that never won but their numbers are up there and they're on Legends
Row here's the other thing too. He ends up being a Hall of Famer
You might go and win a gold medal next year and on another
Yeah, I don't know how that matters for the Maple Leafs necessarily in terms of the way they feel about it
But I hear you. I mean it's all possible in the future. How many years did Sundin play here?
13 yeah, he was he got here 94 and then left in 08-09.
Yeah, so longer. Yeah, and he owns all the stats like Matt's is number one in every category.
Yeah. All right, Scott Lawton is coming up. What are we doing here with Lawton? Like are we just
basically getting him to break down every single shot? No, I want you guys, because i don't know scott that well i want you guys to find the truth
we are about factual
bringing out fax and talking fax okay yeah and i want you to find the fax and
what's real and what's not because you've heard a lot of stories you've
heard stupidity you've heard carlos cross-eyed math breakdown you've heard
duffy talking trash
the guy that kept my score
it is an honest in a man of integrity
he'll talk that's okay i want to ask him one question at one point at any point
during around
did he lose sight of you
that i read
okay i will get to the bottom of everything i know it's all i do not
have really you can ask about the noise over there behind the tree.
Everything. Oh, okay, we will.
Race coming up, Jerry's percentages coming up a little bit later this afternoon. We're live at TPC Toronto, Osprey Valley for the RBC Canadian Open.
Overdrive continues, TSN 1050 and on TSN 2.
Alright, Overdrive continues powered by Fandool bringing you everything
from the opening line of the final score. We are at the rink hole, the 14th hole here
at the championship north course TPC Toronto Osprey Valley and I was out there playing
today I played this course a few times beautiful course. Yeah a per pg professionals out there
really playing well
playing very well maybe
good enough to shoot sixty five
well
but i didn't see anyone with
action like sixty four or sixty two or sixty three or sixty three or whatever
the number happens with the acts on the card like i don't know what was going on
there was a lot of funny business say that there With an X on the card, like I don't know what was going on. There was a lot of funny business.
Guys, if you say that there was an X on the card
one more time, I will forearm shiver both of you.
There was no X.
Duffy showed it to me.
How does Duffy have that?
Okay.
Like I don't know how Duffy has access
to Scott Lawton's scorecard, but he evidently found it.
And you were out here playing with Carlo Coliakvo,
the mathematician, your lawyer, right right your lawyer fingers counting with his fingers and
his toes to par 72 that means I know you shot 64 yeah and Stephen Lorenz and our
next guest and you're telling me our next guest is a man of integrity and kept
my skin kept your score in
particular here is scott lot in the toronto may police
all right so i thought i had a good it great to hear from you thank you for
doing this i'm sure this is what you had planned on a wednesday afternoon but the
floor is yours can you corroborate that this guy jeff o'neill shot sixty
for last thursday
yes he had a sixty four it was honestly the most impressive thing i've seen on
the course and that's uh...
it was it was uh... cool to watch but i kept score of everyone's course so i had
me stevie coco and
or dot
uh...
or don't have seven birdies
uh... we'd we started on sixteen people beat sixteen and then from then on have seven birdies all We started on 16, he bogeyed 16 and then from then on had seven birdies
all parts. 32-32.
So just to clarify Scotty, there was no X because these bozos, somebody made up a scorecard
that had an X on it and these guys are asking me, were you wandering around? Were you taking
a dump in the woods? They were asking the dumbest things can you confirm there was no X on the scorecard well there was one dump in the woods but there
wasn't the X on the scorecard but we had we had scorekeepers keeping our score but we
had three throughout the day and they wouldn't come on the green. So all those scorecards are wrong. Like I kept our score like we were playing a match.
Okay. Okay. What about that dump in the woods?
We were both taking a leak and I absolutely like, just there was problems and we, it was on a mic
and I told Scott, we have to get that video
Scottie and go for lunch and watch that and just to hear that because it was
something well we had we had a dinner after and and always was right out of
there right to the showers no dinner straight to the shower says pants were in
the garbage on the way there wardrobe change sixty four in a new parish so do you guys understand now that
you now understand sure i've got jet i've got one question for scotty
at any point
did you lose track of him like we know patrick reid likes to kind of disappear
into the woods and all of that
at any point did you not lay eyes on the old dog
and potentially maybe a ball slides out of the pocket or whatever like any?
Nonsense at all or would you I got to tell you Jamie and Scotty you can confirm it. I was in the rough once
Really what and that was on the second hole that I never saw the run. I was the dead nut center every hole
That was to take a dump
That was to take a dump. That was on purpose.
Snap hook so that you can go and relieve yourself.
I'm telling you, every hole but one, I was dead in that center.
Three bills down the middle.
Talk to me.
We were on like 16 and we tried to give you a putt and you putted it in because I think
you knew you had a score going.
Yeah.
Wow.
Last thing though, how far were the gimmies?
See that's important because I know you've trumped it before with the old six footer
grab and you're telling me.
I have never done a six foot grab.
I've seen you scoop a six footer and say I'll take a par on that.
My head almost snapped off because I was like dude that's six feet down the ice.
I would never play a match against you.
Wasn't a match necessarily.
This was back in the day.
Okay, Scott, you answered that.
What are we what was the the the the friendship zone was what two feet two and a half three
feet.
What are we dealing with here?
It was smaller than I usually play for sure.
Okay.
We weren't giving each other much.
Well competitive guys out there competing.
So there you go.
Scott Lotton, man.
You're saving this guy because he has taken a lot of heat over the last week.
Exactly.
It's amazing.
I got a clip sent to me and it wasn't good.
No, it was inflammatory stuff.
I wasn't doing it personally.
But there was a scorecard floating around and an award winner showed it to me. That's James. I saw it too. We saw the card and there was an X
on there. And Coco had like a five on a four or something. And it was written down as a
birdie. And I was like, I don't you know, I know math. I'm like, that doesn't make sense.
And then Dathi goes, well, that's that's oh, he goes, there's a problem there with the
math. And I was like, Okay, we better investigate this. So,
well we went right to the source, right to the source, right to the source.
Well, Scotty, we can't thank you enough, man.
I don't know what we just established and I guess we just got to the,
got to the source.
Oh, also did a flyover he said or something like, what do you,
you said you did like you, you were watching the video.
I watched every hole by hole to bring back my memory of what I did on that hole and I
actually think it might have been 62 but well let's not get stupid here. It was 64 for sure.
What about you Scotty we haven't heard anything about your round did you
did you shoot the lights out or what? No I wasn't good I was 83. Okay that's not
bad. Very good course. That's that's very quality from this place. I was 83. Okay, that's not bad. Still a very good course. That's very quality for this place.
I was in the rough heat, yeah.
Well, somebody might have rattled you too by taking a dump in the woods.
You might have had to refocus somehow.
That doesn't help.
That's exactly right.
And his alumni jacket.
Alumni jacket in the woods.
Alright, Scotty, who do you like in the cup final?
give us a quick take on edmonton florida you got one read on it one way or the other or what?
no i got no read for you guys sorry
no i know
we don't either
we don't either that's why we get to the games tonight
yeah alright man thank you for doing this i appreciate it
have a good night
there he is scott laudin man of integrity, it just I'm glad I feel like you know when you just get something off your chest and you just feel free
I feel free. Okay, it's fair. I mean, I'm not gonna question you anymore
You get you have to have a conversation with Duffy though, like you and James you're he's Peter DeBoer. You're you're hot. Yeah
That's true. You're the one thing about that guy. He doesn't like people see like he doesn't like seeing other people succeed
It's true Jamie
He likes to take home the hardware
But if somebody does something good like what I did in golf, he'll try to tear it down
He'll make up a fake scorecard and he'll say oh look at this. That wasn't that
Well, I don't want to I don't believe that he had
group text, though.
He was talking about like tournament rules and he's on top of it, man.
J.D.'s calling it. He likes to see people crumble.
And he he probably like he probably shot people text after that saying,
he's probably thought he was going to win stuff like that.
I hope not. But I'm concerned that that could be a reality.
You know, the handshake. Hey, you were right here on t i walk away and he goes this guy actually
thought he had a chance to be the taxing anybody takes kenny bouldin right after
and he goes did you see hazy's face heartbroken and i'm not a
haha
you know i was there that this truth but he was not all the insured you know i
don't want to see my double i hope that's not true i don't want to believe
it but anything's possible. I love it
All right, Ray for our own about 20 minutes Jerry's percentage is coming up overdrive continues TSN 1050 and on TSN 2
hazy shout out to Peter Millar I
Love this little mini vest because you can wear it when it's hot as you know what out and they're perfect
They cool you down
They actually do we're both wearing one right now the Peter Millar vest when it's hot as you know what out and they're perfect. They cool you down.
They actually do.
We're both wearing one right now.
The Peter Millar vest, it's perfect because it's so hot out.
And it still dials everything in.
It dials everything in.
It's stylish.
How does it cool you down?
I don't know, but it does.
It's a great question, Noodle, so I don't know.
It works in terms of like the fan.
We got fans like pumping in here,
which is a strong request and it's mandatory because it's so hot today and it's going
to be I think even warmer tomorrow maybe the next day but I'm with you dude
looking good feeling good Peter Millar head to toe speaking of which Taylor
made the spider the zero torque I put it in play today unbelievable I told you
man unbelievable you got like if you're just gonna get one club this summer
I don't know what people do as far as changeover or they want to try different things. Just try the ZT get one
Yeah, it was it was incredible. Everything you said it was I didn't shoot 64, but I felt good out there
You see the the CN Tower is gonna be lit up in the Edmonton Euler colors tonight. Why?
The the CN tower is gonna be lit up in the Edmonton Euler colors tonight. Why?
Well, it's a good question because like I think something else Canada's team Yeah, see that my understanding is the the CN tower. It is a it is a national monument fair enough, right?
It's the Canadian
Yeah, I'm all getting behind it, but there's other cities like what I't know if you do it when montreal made it to the final
i actually think they might have and i i remember talking about it and thinking
edmonton's one thing to have a completely different story considering
they'd be
deletes to get and it's the biggest rival right ronald montreal like you know
i i hate to break it to people in edmonton people in toronto don't spend a
lot of time worrying about what's going on but i i i love that's Canada you're cheering for the Canadian team but I would also have an
appreciation if they put a picture of the CN Tower and said we are not lighting the CN Tower
this color because we're Leafs Nation. I like that too. I think either way. Either way now I
think where people in Toronto and Leaf fans react is if the shoe was on the other foot. Oh they would
just be like. You can speak to it in Edmonton.
Do you think they would be?
Hey, blue and white!
No way!
Blue and white for the Leafs in the cup final.
No chance.
There is a 0% chance.
But it's not like, I just, I don't know, I've never subscribed.
It's like, oh I gotta, you know, now we gotta cheer for the Oilers.
No, of course not.
Like, there's just as many Canadians on Florida than there is on the Oilers.
You know, that's the unique part.
I don't know the numbers.
I mean, somebody's going to be like, no, there's not.
There's only eight there and nine here.
But you know what I mean?
Like, it's a, I just, I don't know.
I think it's a weird thing.
I think I understand it's a respect thing and good on whoever controls that.
I don't know if it's...
Civic pride.
I don't know.
Who controls that?
It's not the mayor. Honestly. Well, no, I
Well, maybe I mean knowing her that's probably what she's doing with her time is figuring out dancing around I saw her yesterday. She's soon. I was figuring out what color we're gonna make the CN Tower, but yeah, I don't know
I don't know exactly who runs the operation in terms of the CN Tower and I've always thought of it as a Toronto monument
But again, I'm a Toronto guy
Like I don't look at the CN Tower as something that represents the
whole country but you know it's it'll be interesting to see you know how the
country responds to the Oilers going tonight. I think everybody's behind them
man everybody because the old school people that watch hockey they're like I
want to see a Canadian team win and hopefully they get that well I don't
think everyone's like I don't have a cheat team when my Leafs are out I don't
cheer for anybody. I'm cheering as I've said
before I want to see McDavid and Dry Settle get one. The Oilers in general
like I'll be all we'll have fun Struddy will be unbearable and people in Edmonton
like they'll be gloating like they should if you win of course you know
other players on that team I don't necessarily like oh sure Ryan Nugent
Hopkins, good soldier, good player player. Yeah, that would be cool
But really it's about those two guys who I think they deserve it like they've earned it they play
Every single night they elevate their game like dry saddle like McDavid's a different beast because we've been aware of him forever
He's Canadian. He's so good. He's generational. He's
because we've been aware of him forever he's Canadian he's so good he's generational he's trending towards being the greatest player of all time or in
that conversation dry subtle is not but dry subtle is so impressed he is such a
grizzled veteran like with the beard and the way he talks and he talks like he
speaks like he's a Canadian yeah he's like he's from St. Albert he is I mean
playing the Western Hockey League like he he a Canadian. He speaks like he's from St. Albert. He is. I mean, playing in the Western Hockey League, like, he has property, I believe, out East
here.
Like, he's a Canadian.
He's like a Canadian.
He is.
And, you know, if you know these, the German players, the only two I really know, I know
Olaf Kolzig from back in the day, but if you look at Tim Stutzla, who I've spent a lot
of time around, and Dry Settle, like, they come with a little, there's not a lot of time around and dry subtle like they come with a little
There's not a lot of ego there. They just they work hard They're pretty honest and and you know dry subtle. I love this comments when he's in extended in Edmonton
He's like yeah good money like it here and find like awesome. There was no like big noise song and dance
He didn't you know take him to what shit now?
They're paying him a lot of money so I as made playing the league next year
But deserves to be because he's up
in a massive x factor because if you remember last year he can hardly hold
his hockey stick
kept broken whatever he had broken from the job that guy a hundred percent i
would say is a considerable upgrade in x factor going into the series because
yeah
a big time in you know missing hymen is is a big blow but they've they've got
depth to
i've i'm excited to see it because we've been waiting for it like it's almost like this has been too long Hyman is a big blow, but they've got depth.
I'm excited to see it because we've been waiting for it.
It's almost like this has been too long.
We talked about hockey ending earlier.
Well, they could have inched this up a couple days.
It's like a Super Bowl thing, man.
That's what all these leagues do.
They learn from the NFL that, yes, people are going to complain and people are going
to get jittery, but once the stuff going you know you're excited that it's there and you know it's the same
thing in the NBA like we haven't had a big NBA I think the Knicks lost on Friday the
same night that the Stars lost I believe so like it's going to be almost a week on the
NBA side of things and it's an incredible time to be a Canadian sports fan like with
Shea Gildas Alexander
doing what he's doing, with McDavid doing what he's doing.
Like the fact that the two of them are at the forefront of both of these leagues.
They're both in their 20s.
Like this feels like it has the potential to be a spring and summer that we're just
never going to forget.
You know, like we are going to reference in 2025, that's the year McDavid got it.
That's the year Shea won his first title.
And you know, if you're the Oilers,
you believed in yourself, you've had some ups and downs,
you've battled, but you're here, you have home ice.
There's not a better home ice team in the league right now.
Like all they do is score goals,
and all they do is basically impose their will
on whoever they play when they're playing in Edmonton
And I will say it's a cliche game one always is important. It feels
Extremely important this time around. Yeah, because of what happened last year
Yeah, you can't tiptoe into it. You were down
Oh three before you knew it last year and you back to your credit if you're in Edmonton you battle back and you got
All the way to seven you don't your credit if you're in Edmonton you battle back and you got all the way to
Seven you don't want any demon showing up in the back dude. You can't give one freebie
You I think they have to almost have to win. I know it's not literally
Figuratively and symbolically I I think it's it's imperative the oilers win tonight have to go back and look
Was it game one or two that Bobrovsky absolutely stole?
Yeah, I think it was game one. I think it was game one. You having tonight must win for the oil? Dude I think
because of what happened last year and because of the team you're playing like Florida is not a team
that you can sit back on like they they they smell blood too their championship pedigree they're
healthy they're ready to play man like Florida's ready ready to play and you know the thing is as palmar ease
you know they're playing the underdog exactly he's gonna spend that like
everyone believe doesn't believe in us ever wants these guys canada's all route
there they're gonna be can't wait to come here and you look at on the oil
both of these teams were third in their division
like they both kind of coasted into the playoffs and load management on both sides injuries
I mean injuries and all sorts of things going on on the Edmonton side
But Florida, you know
There was a point they were challenged in the Leafs and then it just dropped like they dropped off and was like we're just gonna
Worry about being healthy and getting our team in order and I don't care if we start on the road
That's that that's their mentality. So it is like it's a coin toss
Like I really that's why it's exciting. That's why I think tonight's so significant because like Florida you're on the road
You've got a ring. Yeah, you you you had them last year you there has to be an element of confidence coming from Florida that they beat them
And with Edmonton, you just don't want any mojo going the other way
And with Edmonton, you just don't want any mojo going the other way. You know, you just don't want to be thinking, okay, if you lose game one, then you gotta
win game two.
Or what if history is repeating itself again?
So is tomorrow over reaction Thursday?
Probably.
Regardless.
Probably both ways.
Edmonton wins some night.
Somebody's gonna say someone's in trouble tomorrow.
Yeah, you're right.
It might be me at four o'clock.
If Edmonton gets smoked tonight,
they're in big trouble.
I will say.
If Stuart Skinner has a...
That's an important component.
Stuart Skinner gets pulled on five goals on 12 shots
and they get pumped seven one tonight.
Of all the different characters are on the ice tonight,
who are you kind of most interested to see perform?
Because if you had to do a hazy top five,
Stu Skinner might vault ahead of McDavid,
Dreisaitl, Kachuk, or Barkov, or Bobrovsky.
Yeah, he's very, he's, he's,
you can make a very strong case he's number one.
Stuart Skinner.
But the crazy thing is is he's won five of six
and been brilliant.
Yeah, I know.
But people are like, they're waiting to go back,
you know, go wait, you know, like it's, this guy could win 10 in a row and his 11th. They're like, see, I told you
and that that is the truth. He'll always wear that. Yeah, I mean, and it's a great question though,
Noodle's like, what does this guy have to do for that to stop? You know, or what is the tandem
of Skinner and Pickard have to do because they've been to two cup finals in a row.
Yeah, it's worked for Edmonton. Yeah, been fine. Yeah. All right. Hour two coming up. RBC
Canadian Open. We're live at the rink hole. 14th hole. TPC Toronto. Ray Farrar. Look at that
glamour shot by Ray. That is beautiful. Ray is ready to rock at 505. Adam Svensson coming up. Good
