When I was 16 years old, I took flight lessons with my dad. Nice. We used to fly those like a lot. The do touch and goes and everything like that. But like those planes are, I mean the more the older you get the more fearful you are of flying around in those things. It's a car with a propeller and some wings. I don't know. And you don't know who's in there. Yeah, you have no idea. That's the wild thing, man. You see it, you drive like Buttonville Airport. I don't know if Buttonville is still around or not.

They used to see guys pulling in there in their trucks and they're like, all right, that guy's going to be in the air in half an hour. Where is he going? Where is he flying to? A menace. Yeah, that's the weirdest thing. You know, I'm off to Sault Ste. Marie.

Like the wild thing is you see it up north. If you're up in Muskoka, the guys with the water planes, like they'll come down. I see it almost every summer. He's like, you want where I visit him, and he's like, yeah, there's this great course. It's like three or four hours away,

but we can just hop in my bird, and we can take the bird. And I would just be like, I don't want to go in the bird, man. I love this guy like a brother, and he's the safest, smartest guy. But it's just that the horror stories, I could just see the headline, like, Oh, dog and his doctor buddy, they went to go tee it up, and they're just they're peeling them off the beat like no way

I know it's scary man. It is yet That's the future like in that's coming man like probably not in our lifetime flying cars and all of that Oh, yeah, like that really is what is going to happen. It's gonna be the jets talking. There's flying cars right now There is flying car like there there is in it will be haze I think it will be in our lifetime that there you guys will be a be like a jessin no possibly come to Mimico then okay come to Mimico where people I've been catching them I honk my horn and I roll up at the light and they're like is there something wrong and I'm like yeah you're going ten it's like Chris Farley in the

Well, you think about it, you can now Google it. There are people with jet packs that bomb around, like the Jetsons or whatever, like that old cartoon. There are people that fly around in jet packs. You ever see a guy with one noodle that one's in your backyard and I got in my backyard but I'm I've seen it and it's not like a movie it's a guy flying around in a farmers field trying it out and stuff and and again you guys are around oh you're around lakes and stuff like that I do

The significance of Mark Shifely missing the game, in your opinion, like how much does that factor into the mentality of the Winnipeg Jets going into the game tonight? Look, it's huge that you don't have your number one center going into this game, but we did

see in game five what other players step up in his absence. I would argue that it's one of the best games, not perhaps the best game that we've seen from Vladislav Nemesnetov as a Winnipeg jet. So is it a huge hole? Absolutely it is, but you're going to look to your other players to be able to step up. This is the hand that you have been dealt. There's no excuses for it. Everybody needs to elevate their game. But this is certainly, you know, it's tough enough when it's in your own building, but this atmosphere in St. Louis has been electric as well. And we know that in this series, home ice up to this point has reigned supreme with all five games being won by the home team.

So Sarah, I just did a SportsCenter hit and you're talking about potentially Nikolai Ehlers coming back, no Shia Flea, who's gonna step up? Is it just as simple as maybe the guy who's up for the heart and the Vezna and he's been pulled in that building two games in a row, if he just has a statement game, I mean, he can close out the series maybe not by himself, he's going to need help but is it present that he could have a statement game and maybe quiet down everybody who's been challenging him in the playoffs? Well 100% if he comes in and steals this game for it and then it will quiet people down

because that's what we've come to expect in Final Halliburton during the regular season. We haven't seen it up to this point in the postseason. But you have to think that at some point we're going to. I mean, I keep waiting for it and expecting that this will be the time that it's going to. He is a leader on this team. He is the best goaltender right now. He's going to win another Vezna, a finalist for the hard. We know that he can do it. This would be obviously a great opportunity for him to be able to step up, but it can't just be on him. They scored a combined three goals in the two games that they played here for games three and four.

You need others to step up. So it would be a huge boost for this team in terms of speed, also potential help on their power play to have Nick Light-Eelers back in the lineup. He has a game time decision. I know you guys have said that already, but he did take line rushes this morning. He did practice with the first power play unit. So, I mean, all indications are

that he will be back in the lineup and make his first appearance in this series, but you need others to step up. Last game, I mentioned to Mestakoff, Nino Nidorajder had a good game and contributed with the goal. Dylan DeMello got his first goal of the series. You can't just put it on the goaltender, but obviously you need him to elevate his game too. And he's been, and he has said this week, I'm sure you guys

at some point have talked about it, he spoke to the media on Monday when it came out that he was, when it came out that he was the hard finalist, and he did say that, look, he needs to be better. He knows that. And I expect that we'll see him do it today. There you go. I'll say that. We'll see him do it today. Sarah, how about Monty? So they didn't get in until around 9 o'clock last night. They were supposed to be in around 1 in the afternoon.

And so he was asked about what they did to kill time in Winnipeg and you know he referenced cards Netflix whatever and then he he made some joke about how he spent his time in the OR alluding to his medical decrease. I appreciate some good sarcasm. As you should yeah Jim Montgomery that was great man and Scott Arniel I appreciate his his retort right he wasn't happy Absolutely nor should he be I mean I got no problem with that he knew likely the status of Shifely by the time he stepped up to the podium which is significant of course because now he's not playing in game six tonight but in

terms of what the Blues have done and in terms of how physical they've been have you been taken aback by that? Were you expecting it? Because it has been a gruesome, gruesome series so far. I think, look, I expect it to be a physical series, but I don't know if maybe to the extent that we've seen on both sides the way that it's been, they've been able to handle it through all five games through this. I thought that maybe at some point that they would, that it would slow down a little bit. And we just haven't really seen that. We have seen, I mean, you think earlier in the series, you saw Logan Stanley with some

big hits and then you see the way that the blues are continuously trying to take the body with Josh Morrissey, what they're doing with Mark Shifely. I thought that it might peter out a little bit by now, but no they just kept going and no we'll see. We're in store for I think a great game here tonight again and the energy I mean you know how great it is inside this building and especially I mean playoffs. The atmosphere between the ranks both in Winnipeg and here in St. Louis has been great and you expect nothing less from a central division matchup.

I thought to myself, and maybe this is a little bit old school for me, but Adam Lowry is not a guy who's shy to drop the gloves. And neither is Braden Shen. When's the last time we saw a captain's fight? Was that at Ginlaham and La Cavie? I mean no for you know like that I don't know with with Shen running around and you know to me I could feel like it could be a scenario where Adam Lowry just goes

I'm fighting you whether you like it or not and and Shen would be a welcome recipient of it He's a guy who's not shy, but for some reason in my mind. Maybe's just wishful thinking. Wouldn't that be amazing to have a captain's fight tonight? I mean it would be but you also look like special teams have not played in Winnipeg's favorite throughout this series so far so I mean the benefits might not outweigh the potential negatives because you really can't afford with the status of mark Schieffle unknown going forward you can't lose another Center and and Adam Lowry contributes so much in a variety of different ways And we've seen him play injured last year during the postseason this thing that they have been Almost responsible in the way that they have

Responded to the physicality in the series, I think that it would be wise for them to continue doing it, whether that be because you don't want to be shorthanded or you don't want to have the potential risk of injury because then they are very thin down the middle. Maybe we get the old Primo. There's me just being too responsible with it, Noodle. Yes, me too. We want to see the fight. I want to see maybe Luke and Braden go out. Yeah, that's what I want. I don't know. I just think something can happen. It just, to me, and I know with it you know we want to see the fight i was even a little bit great yeah that's what i want i don't know i just think something can happen in just and i know it's game six in the stakes are high it's just

at some point because shan has been literally you know braden shan has been blowing up the jets legitimately like blowing them up and at some point somebody's gonna step up and say that's enough yeah and i'll be interested to see and whether or not that happens tonight but it's at a and my only

So planting the seed for free agency, not great, you know, effectively indicating it's just not a market that I guess a lot of people have at the top of their list. But the real spicy meatball was Quinn Hughes and that was the big story this week because Tocket left and what happens with Quinn Hughes and Rutherford said last week that Hughes has indicated

he wants to play with his brothers and Rutherford said that they have them under team control for one and two-third seasons because if they get to the trade deadline two years from now and he's not signed They'll quote unquote have to do something Which is very settling very comforting again if you're a Vancouver Canuck fan He's basically calling a shot of Quinn Hughes doesn't sign an extension next summer. He will be traded like What other approach is there? I love the honesty. Well, you don't have to say it publicly. I mean, you don't have to be like that.

It feels like a tactic to try to effectively force Quinn Hughes into announcing that he's there for life, you know? And I don't think Quinn Hughes owes the Vancouver Canucks anything. I think he's got a great contract. They've given him the captaincy by all accounts he he loves that he loves the market i think he's done a great job for them like if you're quinn hughes are you looking at jim rutherford and saying give me a reason to stay yeah if you have my brother's man i never make the

playoffs to make it once will pass one time why would i stay i think you know what you do is you have you sit down with them and say where are you going? Like if anybody who has an opportunity to sign a long term extension, let's say it's in eight years, which I guarantee you they would offer him an eight year extension. What are you going to do in the next eight years? What is your plan for one year, three years, five years up to eight? Well let's think about what Jimmy would have to do to get Quinn Hughes' attention.

Is he going to fly to Sweden and babysit Elias Pettersson all summer to say, you've got to come back and be a dominant player? Is he going to sew together Thatcher Demko's leg and say, you've got to be a number one goaltender? And then he's got to upgrade plus plus on like upfront so they can start scoring some goals again It's a massive chore like it's a massive task like do you look in to try to bring Bo Horvat back or some type of? Transaction like that Matthew Barzels from I don't know but they got to do something because if it's Pederson Heidel Zero chance zero zero zero. Yeah

Well exactly like McDavid and dry subtle be there next year and Vegas Will be there next year and I like that within the division alone If you want to attack that division or any division with Pedersen question mark and he'd all no way no way And the other thing too is you get a mandate a lot of times probably from the owner is you get a mandate a lot of times probably from the owner but if Rutherford ever leans and says we got to we might have to do a rebuild or a retool on the fly type of thing that's a Quinn Hughes ago okay that that chews up two or three or four years of my prime that you know there's big decisions to be made now we've seen it teams are to, when you have the framework of some pretty good players there, you can spin it around pretty quick.

But that you have to have a plan in place. And he has to be able to trust the people that are driving the bus as well. There's a relationship there. We're not privy to it. But if he trusts in Jim Rutherford and his management team and and whoever here's the other thing who's coaching me well there's the question who's coaching me because the guy that just left I really liked him and Rick talk it's gonna be fascinating some of the coaches that get hired like your team's

not that good you got a gas coach I get it but who are you gonna be bringing in like who you bringing in they it's almost time where you gotta get some fresh blood or Well, maybe it's Manny Moultrie. Are we just gonna keep doing the recycle game? Yeah, Manny's a guy on a short list apparently out there in Vancouver. They know him from the miners, they know him from the organization. i'd is there's he did i think he deserves that i mean that that was the big surprise team to get in was montreal you know we thought travis green maybe was in the running and i have a curious where he landed in terms of the voting but of all the teams like that's the that's the checklist you get a team that was not expected to compete to make the playoffs, you're going to deserve the spotlight and that's what happened with Marty St. Louis.
