online reactions right you got to act like you've been here before the deeper you go into the playoffs the later games become right they don't play cup final games at 7 p.m. they play them at 8 or even 9 p.m. Eastern Time that's prime time that's when LeBron James is always played okay I can tell you the best teams play eight o'clock is eight o'clock that's prime time you gotta accept it I think there's no reason why any puck should drop after 7 p.m. that's just my personal opinion but go ahead and tell the people what on earth is going to happen in Winnipeg because if I was Chevy I would call Jerry and say don't even think about it we're dropping the pocket 730 local time.

The good people of Winnipeg will take any time to play. That's valid considering last night. With the sell on the time! Okay so on Wednesday the Leafs play game 2 at 7 p.m. Game 1 Jets Stars is 950 p.m. Eastern Time. So which is 850 local in Winnipeg. So that's crazy. It's 100% right because as a player you're going I'm gonna have three pre-game naps and all of this stuff. You're trying to get ready. Morning skates at two in the afternoon. Yeah probably would be. You will take it as a Winnipeg Jet fans because with three minutes left in the game yesterday, if you would have said hey we're gonna have a game on Wednesday at at two o'clock in the morning would you sign up for it all day I was all day exactly I was lying in bed with my arm

out on the power button my wife goes what are you doing I said well they're just about to lose here I'm gonna shut this thing right off and with 1.6 seconds like that might that might have been the best finish to a game I've ever seen. It was incredible. Shout out to Cole Perfetti because the tip he had both tips were remarkable. Like his first tip was incredible, but I thought the tire was even better because that went like bar down. Yeah, underneath the bar and it was a rocket from Ehlers, a rocket from Kyle Connor to

him. It was incredible, man. It was incredible. And the overtime was amazing. Like it wasn, it wasn't sitting back on our heels. No, it was playing. Like, they were gunning. Both goalies were on their game in overtime. I give the most credit in that play, not to Connors, not to Perfetti, to Ehlers who had,

like was thinking outside the box and said, because nine guys out of 10, and I'm talking like 1% the CID type Everybody would just say I got to get this on net. There's no time left And this guy went across the ice it was an incredible after a fan shot. Yes. Well, he broke his no He didn't break his thing. He's a fan, right? You're right lost in all this if we play it again Adam Lowry wins a puck battle to get him that puck back I know that's the crazy part. Like here he fans on it. Yeah you'll take that and it just in the end I don't know it was bananas for two nights in a row because this Miko ran tonight before was incredible insane like I read a stat that again I always try to preface it it was a stat but I think it was quite a reliable person on Twitter saying in the hundred years of the NHL they've had like seven comebacks you know in in after trailing head in the third period in game seven and that

they had two on consecutive nights Multiple goal comeback you have it stack. I have it. It's actually Dominic Moore I saw tweet this so Dominic's a smart guy said to go come backs in the third period to win a game seven in NHL History the first 106 years of the league. Yeah, there were three of them and there've been two in the last two days insane crazy Yeah, like crazy when you think about it. Now one of the previous three was of course in Boston in 2013. I know, I saw that one.

Really, dejected. Couldn't you have taken that off the board? I think we know that. I forgot about that one. I think we're aware of that. But that was one of the three. But anyway, which was a better game? If you had to go back and re-watch one of them,

would it be the Dallas win or the Winnipeg win which was the better game? Honestly down two with that little amount of time left I got to go with the Winnipeg Jets there's some Canadian bias in there but it's pretty damn close the Rantinen pulling the Roger Clemens looking up at the press box that's what sells it for the Stars win is the Rantinen angle like the guy four points in the third period. Yes. Two games in a row. Two games in a row he had four points in a period. But that's like from a storytelling standpoint I think the Ranton and Stars one is actually even more special and amazing when you consider

that he went through Carolina then into Dallas and you know Colorado had a two nothing lead going into the third and all of a sudden Rantinen just took over the game he did like completely took over the game now the Jets 1.6 seconds left and then they win a double overtime you really can't go wrong they're two of the most memorable game sevens you'll ever see in your life I think the Dallas Colorado game was more exciting to watch start to finish yes because the range of emotions from me watching the Winnipeg game going this Hellebuck is playing dodgeball again. They're getting out coach in the first period. Like I was, I, my heart hurt for him. Same dude. I was so nervous

for him in overtime. That Joseph one went in. I was like, I almost turned it off then. I thought they were going to pull him. That Joseph goal goal. I really did too Yeah, and you're chasing the game and it's like the the air has just come out of the building But you and and they're showing the outside the people outside and they're like, hey, we're trying, you know white out They're all just standing there in shock. Well because it's halibut exactly and the storyline had been halibut going in yes, but I The range of emotions like I'm into the third period going like all this they're gonna lose 3-1. We're gonna talk about the bad goals that Hellebuck couldn't get it done. Legacy. This guy's potentially gonna win the heart. They might hand him the heart this year. And I will say he was good in the third and in an overtime he looked like Hellebuck.

He looked great in overtime. Like Velarde almost gave, an overtime he looked like hell of a great overtime like velour de almost gave with that give away heat right in front of that i couldn't believe that and hella buck just looks so smooth on that and i was i was really happy for men in overtime because i i'm this may surprise some people i'm not pulling for a crazy story like him being awful in him getting pulled but i was prepared for today i'm hell of a europe s s with goalie here's why let me explain it went to the way you went to the well before

I know when we had a run in Carolina, Rod Brendan-Mooreates Pataglia and Eric Cole, they want us a couple like and they were just buying our line like they you can buy each other time. Yeah, with performances. But it's almost like Hellebuck has bought himself some time.

Getting through a series when he had his we got to call it a C game. It wasn't even as big. I'm not sure it was a C game on the road. It was F. I'm sorry, you get pulled three times F on the road. Yeah, he's credit. C is a bit rich, even if you average it out. Three F's and in a one game capsule last night, what would you give him as a letter grade? I'll give him a B because of what he did in the third and overtime. Both over times. And then the other two wins. Game two he was an A. Game one I'd say was a C. Right. So they're like, we're talking, he's barely is over the line. You do the, you know, great average curve. He's looking at a C minus anyway, he might have bought some time because if he gets back to a place, they could be dangerous. Absolutely right.

I could get healthy. I don't know what's up with Morrissey, but if they get lock, stock and barrel, they could be dangerous against the stars. Cause everybody's thinking the stars are just going to shred these guys. No. That is not going to be the case. I don't know. The way that Dallas looks, the way that Dallas plays and then you add in Haskin and you add in Jason Robertson.

I mean it looks pretty good for Dallas. I think Scheifle is coming back. It looks like he's skating, he's trying, you know, I don't know, concussion, wherever he's got going. The Morrissey, I don't know if that shoulder or elbow, there was something weird about that. Yeah, it was weird the way it went off. He looked like he couldn't and he was struggling. They never tried to come back. No. Like that looked like, you know, he was in some distress. And, yeah, I mean, I don't

know. Sometimes I always helped him, hoped that maybe, you know, subluxes yeah, I mean, I don't know sometimes I always helped it I hope that maybe you know it sublexes and you know a couple days settle it down But they need him this Neil Pionk man was he unreal? He was only never came off the ice I was so impressed ever came off the ice as you're looking Yeah, the game amber going but like you're looking at you know, it gets thinner Yeah, you're down to five the fence the mellow like they hung in there. They did a great job I think their system was a lot better a lot tighter Winnipeg will give him a run, but if you ask me, I think Dallas would and could be the favorite They're the favorite. I can tell you like listen as of the four series that are left. You got great series like you got Vegas Edmonton That's a dream Winnipeg Dallas, Carolina Washington, and then we got Toronto Florida starting tonight I believe the Leafs are the biggest underdog of any other team going into this series. Are you talking fan duel? I'm talking fan duel. Look that up. Based on opponent, yes. I think it's a combination of opponent and their own history, right?

Like they haven't been through the second round in over 20 years, so that is something that's going to come with it. And they were both playing the games today. The Leafs are saying, wow, we're the clear underdog. They're the cup champs. And Florida's saying, wow, they're the number one seed while we're the clear underdog there the cup champs in florida said while they're the number one see work really the underdogs it's an underdog off down at morning skate today well that i view game one

guys it should almost be a response game for the tron may believe they have watched this team for two years two and a half years march to the cup finals twice they're in their division all that people talk about is how burly and mean they are up front and how they overwhelm you on the four check how they squeeze things off in the neutral zone they force you to dump the puck how they're stingy and physical in the corners in their own zone how good they're going

they know everything the last thing that I want to do is go on that said at midnight tonight and say they just couldn't muster up a way to create they know everything they've gone through tape they watch them just dismantle the Tampa Bay Lightning so it's almost like you gather that information it's almost like there's been a game played and this is a response game issue gotta show Florida something game one to say this is what we're coming at you with instead of having everybody come out after and the coach come out after say, oh they are they had great structure and we couldn't You know, we had some turk, you know all that there's no way in hell that I'm buying that after the game

You knew it all. Yeah, they know that's what the hell you can do with it. I want to see some kind of Approach where it's like we knew you were gonna do that already and this is what we got for you. That's what I want to see tonight. It makes sense. You start hard and like don't wade your way into the series. Start hard and get to your game plan as quick as you can. If they wade their way into the series it'll be three nothing before you know it. I agree but I think you know Florida's a team they're a veteran team that won't be you know intimidated by anything. It's more about you know how are they a team their veteran team that won't be you know intimidated by anything it's more about you know how are they gonna start

and who's gonna counter who that's that's the way i look at it now you've got last change so you have the opportunity in your own building you do have the building behind you've got some things that you can get your mojo going and to be honest like the leafs played well against ottawa they need another level

like that's just that's just the truth absolutely and it's not you know i i think everyone to, they need another level. Like that's just the truth. Absolutely. And it's not, you know, I think everyone to a man needs another level, but when, you know, we always do the white board. When you're matching up against somebody, you know, these top players might cancel each other. It might be third line. It might be the goalies that match up,

or the defensive depth. Like there's so many things, but, you know, I think a good start goes a long way and it sends a message yes that's I said about the Iowa Senators in game three they have to punch the Maple Leafs and not just hit them but they got to knock them down and give them something to really think about the Maple Leafs got to do that right out of the gate they got to show them something yeah I think like it noodles just said if they weighed into it I'm telling you it'll be three three

not the three one before you know what the series is over I think of the eight teams game one means more to the Maples than at any other team I would think so any other team I think it's imperative they get off to a good start and I also think the mentality I'm curious I'd love to know what it is in the room because if you're intimidated if you you don't believe, then the series is over before it even starts. That's an important part of sports is that you got to believe you can beat these guys. That doesn't mean you got to sweep them.

You got to believe you can beat them four out of seven. I think the way you play game one and what you show game one will go a long way in that in terms of how you show up, how you prepare, how physical you are, whether you're're on your toes whether you know what's coming and you're willing to react to it and I even like I look at this in a weird way and think okay you gotta you know try to get a split at home that's a loser's mentality like you should never be thinking that way and it doesn't matter what I'm thinking I'm thinking from the outside and for me I could paint a picture of try to split the first two try to Split in Florida and shrink the series right get a better three

Yeah, and then just try to take it from there because the likelihood of winning in four or five seems very far-fetched But if you're a team with uber confidence, which again the Leafs should be because they haven't played since Thursday They're at home. They're healthy. They've had a really good season. They're a veteran team They get a cup winning coach behind the bench who was playing the game already, right? He was asked about how mean Florida is and he kind of almost scoffed at it, like really are they mean? He's not afraid of everybody.

No, exactly. He's standing there. I don't know if he's talking about, okay, this compared to my era, this has nothing on mean, which would be accurate, or if he's trying to send a message like, we don't look at anyone as mean, we mean we're physical and I think that's an important mentality to have because you got to show up tonight and you got to you got to be up for the fight like that's really what it is this is round one tonight like of a seven round fight like you got to show up and be on your

toes and go out and fight and it you may win you may lose but you you can't lose and look like you're already in a position where you think oh I don't know if we can compete with these guys yeah so I am I am fascinated to see how it plays out I do think it's uber important to least get off to a hot start here I think it goes a long way and just kind of allowing you to feel like okay we're on level here and we can do this. Quick prediction though and I'm asking it's not me predicting regardless of what happens tonight is it overreaction Tuesday tomorrow? Unless I don't think it is if it's a win. We have to consider the market we're in every time is over

Yes but I don't think you're gonna see a spin so far the other way where let's say the Leafs win tonight let's say they win comfortably tonight I don't think people are gonna reset and say all i knew it though now the least should be favored in their guaranteed to win that is a one-way street and so you lose and you get overwhelmed tonight and i would say here we go if they win game one whether whether it's convincingly or not we fans are always a gotta get game two or they're going to be in trouble yeah

that's always been exactly and especially against florida like again there there there the real deal and they're the bar that's been set in the league well doesn't mean you can't beat him but it doesn't mean like that like they're they're going out there and plan there are very good team but yeah i think that the biggest thing you come back to us you have a good start

and your players like you've got to get to your game right away top players got to play like top players and then you know the details special teams Goal-ten and this is the best chance they're gonna have right like you can't every year if you don't get through say well We ran into this team we ran in you're gonna run into a great every year You're a good team you're you're healthy you have home ice your best players have been through it your best players now have won Two rounds in the last three years not parade worthy, but still it's better than nothing you have had winning in the last couple years

and you know i i think you you feel good about stole ours now he's had a few days off he's big he's played well he looks comfortable you got a revenge element to his game going up against the panthers. You know him like it's it's you know i don't see an advantage to either yeah like bobs the favorite to be the better goalie clearly and he's worthy of that because he's Sergei Bobrovsky but but what you have with Bob the one thing is you don't have to out career him all you have to do is play in that particular game equal

or better yeah like that's the thing you were trying to have to again the broski if you looked at the length of career achievements all of that it's not even close that's not what you don't walk on he's not wearing tonight medals and that's no trophies in right at like it's it's he's trying to win the game stole ours are trying to win the game and and stole our success to play without how he's capable of playing you know it'll be a different like this will be a massive test I said this

the other day Ottawa fought them hard but that wasn't a hard-fought series if that makes sense yeah it was not a punch in the face contest it wasn't scrum Ottawa didn't take a piece of them every shift they got their attention is what happened yeah right no suspensions no the thing and you said everyone's healthy like the other teams we could go through every team that is still in the playoffs they're all you know there's pieces behind that are missing right like Leafs don't have that right now like knock on wood but that's what you you know you can go in assembled as a full team tonight. I don't know what it looks like tomorrow. That's a huge benefit. it is a huge benefit you better give

some back because brad marshan and sam bennett had an exchange last and i believe it was last year the year before where brad marshan came out i think bennett heard him yeah you can't arm them and they are not a lot of this a playoffs people are going to punch it wasn't a forearm that was by hidden punch in the day whatever it was they came came out they both agree that is playoff time in the

people are out there hitting the hurt people there and now those two animals on the same team so it's like you got and if they're not built that way but you just gotta give something back man yes and i do think that's it the mentality like you look at certain players and well this the core four let's just let's just cut to the chase. Okay, the core four players are wired They're not wired like Matthew Kachuk or Sam Bennett or Brad Marsh and that's not who they are. That's not how they play

No one's expecting that but you have to prove that you can play through traffic and that you'll go through traffic and Maybe you won't knock someone out with a hit but you can block a shot. There's no reason why you can't do that. Block a big shot. There's no reason why you can't get punched in the head and say I'm coming right back next shift. Like that's what is needed here. That type of mentality. Absolutely. Like just you got to shoot you and you can't have the body language where if you get sticked or hit where you're like looking at the ref, forget it. And that's where Borubic comes in. Don't start whining and

complaining just keep going and going and going. Arner had a couple little plays against Ottawa where it was like trying to get it forget that nonsense. Just fight. Like you got to fight and fight and fight and fight through every check and fight through everything and just keep showing up and keep going back and if you do that you're gonna give yourself a chance because you're a good team. The Leafs are a really good team. They are good goalie, really good defense, special teams are rocking. They've got uber talent. We all know. We all know what they are. So go out there and take care of your depth test it like I everything's

got to be there. That's what's got to like, if you look at it, it seems like lines one, two and four are pretty, you know what you're gonna get from them for the most part. Three is- You're talking Domi, McMahon and- Yarncrook. Yarncrook, or no, Yarncrook's for Lawton and Lorenz. Domi, McMahon and Humbert. Yes, yeah, because he's not putting Robertson in.

I think that's where, you know, that line has to give you something. Yes. And has to be noticeable in a positive way That line can be sneaky in terms of the for check in terms of the accidental on purpose stuff that we're talking about That's what I think you need but that's that's what I'm saying is they got to be because they're the other third line That's where is that? Yeah, Lundell and Lundell was there Ryan and yeah, Lester on it like that They're pretty good

They're a really good line and they can score and they can be mean and do all of that like again you come back to matchups Yeah, it's Lester Reinen, Landell and Marchand like they've got a little bit of everything on that line as well I think Lotton line is more likely to match with that I honestly think the Domey line is more of a fourth line in terms of five on five minutes Which would be fair to say yeah the way the other line plays in the first round But we'll see you've got an opportunity clean slate second round.
