What's going on, guys?
What's going on?
Where about, sorry you?
Are you being held hostage somewhere?
Where are you?
It's tucked away in the corner.
This is the problem with, okay, so I'm in Ottawa and I'm in a hotel and I'm at the regular hotel.
The problem is there's no like, I can't go up against the window.
I've got a beautiful, if I open these curtains, that's the parliament or whatever, but the light doesn't work.
So I've got to stuff myself like O said in a corner and I look like I'm in the witness protection program and I am, like I'm stuffed in, you should see some of the stuff I do.
I was talking to Mike Lane the other day, and I was saying, you should see what I do to get on the show.
The other day, my ringlight crashed, so I unhooked a light off the wall, ran it across the room, taped it up so that I could have light on my face.
Like, that's the type of stuff I do to get on the night.
Exactly.
I'm MacIvered it.
And my ring, so I had to go to Best Buy and get a new light.
And I feel like I've got decent light, but I am.
Yeah, you look good.
I'm pulling all the right strings.
I like it.
And the guy, the other guy on the show, Jamie, yesterday, he pulled all the right strings to his support.
His support, he pulled a stunt yesterday going all in on Max Scherzer, was so disingenuous and so fraudulent.
And he somehow acted like he was committed to it.
And he said, I'm fully all in on this guy getting the job done.
And I could not believe.
He stalked himself into it.
What these guys he stalked himself in?
into it that's the thing here's the thing i was i was kind of dude you were joking man i wasn't
joking completely i i was definitely putting on with the intention of doogie posting that clip
after he had himself a great outing which dougie did not do and i was a little bit disappointed
because i was playing to the crowd a little bit but this is what ends up happening on this show
and i hope it happens with you guys because i would say if we had to if we had to you know rank
the crazy, outrageous
comments on this show.
I understand, I'm self-aware
enough to understand, I'm probably number one
on the list in terms of
like just crazy opinions
and over the top and provocative
stuff or whatever. This town sucks.
The Hall of Fame's a bunch of plaques.
It goes on and on. Exactly.
And I'm hopeful
you guys get dragged into that
as the collective
felt that way. Because I was
getting that last night. And this
morning. I was getting DMs and messages, man, you guys weren't that sure about Scherzer.
And I'm thinking, I was sure. Hang on a sec here. Don't throw me into that.
Go talk to those guys. You can't rope us all into the same bucket here and pretend we all
had the same view because that's not accurate. You were very doubtful last night. Jonas was
outright negative about Max Scherzer. I was more on board. I was more on board with Jonas.
and I just thought there's just no way in hell this guy's going to get it done.
And he wheeled out there in the sixth inning after just going after his skip.
I thought that exchange was bizarre, man.
I really did.
I thought it was bizarre a world.
And although we were loving stories like that and looking for interactions like that,
because this guy's like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
But what was Scher, like, what was Schneider really doing?
there he was not going to take him out
what the hell else was he going
out there for to see how he's doing
I don't think he was
thinking of taking him out I guess
it was a pep talk and to check in on him
that's what his plan was
and it blew up in his face because
Scher was not having
any of it and it turned into an
unbelievable moment an incredible
moment and Scherzer followed through
and the team ends up winning in the end
which means it just becomes
a story that will will grow
and grow and grow in terms of, you know, the legacy of the moment.
The legacy of the moment, look, it's just one of those things.
If they go on and get to the World Series, possibly win the World Series,
but I think for Schneider in the future, it might cause some problems when he goes out there.
Like what, some other older veteran guy is not allowed to just say to him, I'm staying in.
You know what I mean?
I know Max Scherzer is a unique situation with his track record.
He's a Hall of Famer and all that.
but it's just a, it was a weird thing.
It was an unbelievable thing, but it was still a weird thing.
And when he walked down into the dugout, yeah, and he just like body slam Pete,
and then he yelled at Schneider again.
I was like, what the hell is wrong with this guy?
He was fired up.
I give him credit, you're right, because if it went south, like, if they left him in and he got lit up
and Seattle got back in the game, that's where we're talking about, like, hey, guys being a hero
and he doesn't back it up.
Well, I don't know if they would have.
let it go that far.
I know, but it just, my, my thing is, I respect the compete, but there is a line where
you have to respect to skip, and I don't know where that line.
Was it crossed Hayes in your opinion or not?
It wasn't crossed, man.
Again, I understand what you're saying, where this is going to go in the future, and I
think people are applying it to tonight.
Like, what if Gosman's feeling it, and Schneider comes out in the fifth, can he give
him the, whoa, get out of here routine?
think he's not far off but there is a line that everyone understands you know like
justin brule isn't saying get out of here you know that's where schneider goes actually you get
out of here permanently give me the ball before i drag you off the mound i like ernie clement
leaving the mound pissing himself laughing because he was like i've never heard anything like
that in my life and that's the that's the the whole routine with scherzer like he really is he's a
different cat he's a he's a crazed animal on the mound and he's just he's on his toes and he's
ready to go and he's he's just he's pacing and he's frothing at the mouth and that's how he operates
and that's when he's in the zone and to his credit he was great last night he really was he walks
two guys on eight straight pitches in the first period i didn't i was thinking of tweeting out
disaster i didn't do it and then nailer gets him in the second inning but other than that he
was perfect last night he was perfect and he did everything he could possibly do and what was so
refreshing about that is that here's a legend a winner that actually pulled his weight for a Toronto team
in the biggest moments right like that's that's what Kauai did and Kauai was a completely different
example because he was the face of the team a superstar a legend but got it done got it done
so get on my back I've won before I'm going to show you how we win and I'm going to show the attitude
you have to have and Scherzer did that last night that
you know at 41 years old that's a guy that's one Cy Young's that that's a guy that's
one world series and you would think that was his first playoff game how fired up he was
and the way he operated the whole that's that's fair when you go out there and you get the job
done and the team gets the win and you pitch like that and strike guys out then then the
Schneider stuff and the Pete Walker stuff becomes secondary and funny and it was just
that's who he is, and he's crazy, and he's ultra-competitive.
Like, that's the way the world works and sports works, man.
You get the job done, maybe you get away with that.
And you're so right, Hayes, like, Toronto sports fans to watch a guy go out there
and actually, like, get the job done at his age.
When's the last time that guy pitched, man?
Was it almost a month ago?
Yeah, three weeks now, yeah.
That's where I was going to go, guys.
Like, this story could have ended a lot worse for him.
And what I mean by that is if they lost to the Yankees somehow,
And he was out of the rotation, like this guy was watching.
Like they were, you know, they put the rookie ahead of him.
They put, like, keep in mind, this guy, it's been a minute since he's, he's pitched.
He was frothing at the mouth to get in there.
But this is, this story could have ended poorly for him if they lost against the Yankees.
Because it wouldn't have been, you know, he wouldn't have been pitching.
Now he's pitching.
Exactly.
That's the thing.
It was a great story.
I loved it.
If he was awful last night, that's probably the last time he ever see him pitch.
You know, then they're down three.
one are chasing it if the bats don't come alive and what it's done is with one start
it has a got them back in the series and that's ultimately what matters most they won the game
you know they scored a million runs again last night back-to-back nights in a park that
has a reputation of not being friendly to hitters it has been very very friendly to the blue jays
and they're guaranteed coming home for game six and it sets up you know scherzer if you can get
into the World Series, he's going to pitch again in the World Series.
It's going to happen.
Automatic now.
Automatic.
And if it goes seven, that's going to have an effect on how they line up their rotation.
And I don't want to get too crazy here, but there's a chance he pitches twice in the World Series.
Now, you're getting stupid, man.
I know that, but like if it goes seven and you Savage go six, Bieber goes seven, and there's always a few days off in between, you know, the championship series and the World Series.
So you're going to get Gosman back to the top of the rotation.
Maybe you're Savage.
But what if it's like Beaver can't go until games four,
then Scherzer's going game three, right?
And then with days off and stuff,
it might line different stuff up.
And again, this is a dream scenario that the Blue Jays hope
they're going to be dealing with.
You've got to get through Seattle first,
and then you've got to go deep against the Dodgers,
which is a completely different story.
Who are making a gong show of the Brewers.
They are making a gong show of the Brewers.
but yeah, that reference will be used for the rest of time in Toronto,
like Scher's game four against Seattle, 10, 20, 30 years ago,
it's going to be something people remember because of who he is,
because of the build-up, because of the importance,
and then ultimately because of the confrontation.
If you want to call it that, probably that's inaccurate, not a confrontation,
but how would you define that?
What was that mountain visit last night?
You're trying to explain that.
I think the only way to, I think it was an exchange.
right that's a good way to put it i don't think it was a what did you just call it an encounter
confrontation that's not what it was yeah yeah i think it was a quick exchange that even sherser
said you know i threw in some words there that i won't say but like i'd love to know exactly
what he said did he just say like get to bleep out of here i'm you're not taking me out of this
game it read to me like i'm good i'm let's go let's go like leave me alone effectively
I'm ready.
Yeah, he said the words, let's go.
So I think Schneider was like, are you okay?
And he's like, yeah, let's go.
And he's like, all right, I'll see you later.
Aren't you guys curious how uncomfortable it would have got if he said,
give me the ball?
Schneider.
Yeah, then you got a Gibby and Ted Lilly's scenario on your hands.
When Ted Lilly chuck the ball down the third baseline and walked off the mound,
that's one of my favorite things ever.
Was that CETO or Gibby?
That was Gibby, was it?
John Givens, man.
and then give like he walked down the dugout into the clubhouse and givie chased after him and remember all of a sudden all the guys had to run down the hallway to break it up there's suck on that one for the nightway yeah gibby and ted lily had a little dust up down the hallway but even the second time i don't remember schneider being asked about it and schneider i will say this that guy on a podium is he's really good he's really comfortable he's very affable you know
know, he's a well-spoken guy, he's got good energy, he's very respectful, he gives
you good answers, but even when he had to go out the next inning to actually take him out,
and it was the right time, you had to get him out at that point, you bring in Flew Hardy,
flu-hardy ends up basically getting them out of that jam, or Josh Naler helped them get
out of that jam, but I wonder if Schneider was thinking even at that time, like, is this
going to happen again? Am I going to walk out again this time, and he's going to start yelling and
screaming had to have crossed his mind had to have at least been a contemplation but you knew you knew he
gave in at that point he's like just take the ball yeah it was like i'm not i'm done i'm not i'm not
doing it again no yeah but it was good man it worked out man and they won and now we've got even
stephen man like let's go at it here let's see what you got that's right you got even stephen game
three tonight it comes out you quick and man they can throw a cliche around can't they in pro
sports you know it's treated like it's zero zero and yeah you get right back on the horse and well
we got another game tomorrow night and anything can happen and dude well we had tim kurchin on hayes
jami i think you're away and he was like crazy things happen in baseball and i wanted to say give me
a break man this thing is over everybody thought it was over and i give them all the credit in the
world man like all the credit in the world i i thought it would just be like they'd get smoked
in game three and then it was great season
I don't know.
Even some of our guys were, like, tweeting out,
oh, that was a good ride, fun ride, thank you guys.
It was just natural.
So impressive is that it has been a complete performance top the bottom,
and they have dominated these two games.
Yes.
It was not, you know, game three was Bieber pitched a gem and they won one-one-nothing.
You know, it wasn't last night, you know, 15, 14 with a bunch of errors.
Yeah, they smoked them.
Two games in a row.
They completely dismantled Seattle.
like outside of game one which was not a very entertaining game at all i was there for it it was
a terrible baseball game the other three have been blowouts game two three and four have been
blowouts and that leads you to tonight where i have no idea what to expect i i presume the bats
will be alive i guess you know i won't both team score runs and you know we'll see what gosman's got
we'll see what bryce miller has he pitched really well on short rest game one for the mariners
but that is right.
That's what Kirkson said.
He gave us the old, if you've been watching in 2025,
you'll know it's completely unpredictable.
If you're the Jays, you've got to like the looks on the faces and the Mariners
of the Mariners and the dugout.
They look like, didn't it seem like they look shocked?
Like they were like, I can't believe what I'm watching right now.
How about the manager, man?
Their manager had Scrabble face.
Yeah, with that little cookie duster and the hat, he looks confused.
But you know what it is, though?
Well, he had a quick pull on his guy yesterday.
He was like, I'm not doing this.
Dan Wilson is his name, which of course that's his name with that look.
If I gave you, without knowing his name, and I said, what do you think that guy's name is?
You'd say Dan Wilson.
He's Dan Wilson from a million miles away.
Weren't we giving it to their GM last year?
Didn't their GM come out and have some outrageous comments about, like,
40% of the time.
You don't get it.
I don't know what he said.
The analytics.
It was a couple years ago.
A couple years ago was the analytics.
Then he was a statement to the fans, wasn't it?
It was a statement saying like, hey, you know, we didn't play well or we didn't have the success.
But, man, our analytics say we did really well type of thing.
That's exactly what it was.
Hey, don't look at our record.
How dare you.
Our underlying numbers suggest were the 27 Yankees.
And, yeah, it didn't go over that well.
And I appreciate that Adam Fox had that approach last night.
I don't know if you heard Adam Fox of the Rangers last night,
but he dropped basically the expected goals mean nothing.
You know, it's great to have expected goals,
but actually in this league you have to score to actually make it matter and win.
And I'm paraphrasing, but the Rangers, I thought they had some really good opportunities.
I thought Stollars was great last night.
And I thought Chesterkin was great.
I thought both goalies were really, really good.
And, again, the Rangers just can't, they can't score.
They cannot score.
They were, when they score halfway through the third last night to make a 1-1,
and that, you know, the O.T. winner, Willey to Matthews,
and Matthews all of a sudden has got a lot of goals early in the season.
That's why when it's not going well, man, you just keep potting those empty netters,
and you just say, I don't care what this looks like
because it just makes it look good when I start putting them in the net.
When you look at it, it's four goals.
in five games.
They don't go, oh, well, two were empty netters early on, and you go,
it's got four goals and five games.
That's what it is.
Exactly.
That's what you look at.
What did you view that game as, hey, as I said last night, I'm like, I don't know
if this is a low event game or a high event game or what this is.
Is it just two goalies putting on a show?
Because it was, it had a different vibe to it.
There's no question.
I did think the goalies were really good last night.
There's no doubt they were.
Yeah, it's a 2-1-O-T win, you know, and I don't.
I thought Stollard's made some really good stops.
And that was probably the story of the game, both guys.
But, yeah, I thought, you know, from a Leaf perspective, I thought they played okay.
I didn't think, again, I didn't think they played poorly.
I thought they had some chances.
That's what was in front of them, man.
That's the way the Rangers, I guess, decided they're going to play under Sullivan.
And it's like they know they're not going to, they don't want to get into a track meet with basically anyone.
They've proven that.
And that's what they're going to throw at you.
They got one of the best goalies in the world.
and they're going to try to win 2-1.
I think that's what they're trying to do right now.
They need structure, and I think that's one thing that was missing.
When you look at the Rangers team, they just, what was that team in the last couple years?
They didn't make the playoffs.
They had guys that underperform last year, but you do have some good players there,
but I think they're still kind of in this weird, weird spot.
And this is where I look at the Leafs, I was looking at it just before I came on the show here.
The Leafs have a real opportunity here.
early in the season, they play 16 games here, 11 of 16 are against non-play, sorry, 13 of 16
non-playoff teams, and 11 of 16 are at home.
So that's a pretty, like that's a real favorable schedule here to try and make some hay
in this Atlantic that's really jammed up.
So they've got to take advantage on a night, you know, like last night, you get two
points against a team that missed the playoffs last year.
They're better than they're, I think, than a missed.
playoff team type of thing but they got it last night and that's what you need yeah i wasn't
overly impressed with the rangers you know i thought again you talk about details it's over time
it's it's a weird it's a weird situation but the flyby by panarin was
horrible i mean for a veteran well he just yeah flew by willie and like he didn't pick up a man
or anything and he he actually skated to get back it was a back check it was a turnover that went
up the other way but you know you need panarin you need j t miller you need fox to be great
you need shisterkin to be great i don't i'm not convinced they get it together in new york and they're
a playoff team i don't see i was just going to say that that's not guaranteed playoffs
like people are gifted them that because they're new york and because it's sullivan i'm not
willing to do that hey things can turn around i believe the mariners were in toronto earlier in
the season and they look terrible and they look garbage and they look disinterested and then all the
sudden you see them in the playoffs you're like that's the same team that i saw earlier in the
year like things can turn around but if you're a new york rangers fan you have to be asking yourself
and i said it last night like when you've been shut out three home games and you're playing
like that and you can't score and you're one of the only teams in the league that are doing it you
have to look around and say are we even that good like you have to ask yourself
some other skilled players and best players are getting older and you just wonder
who else is going to get this done for us and are we that good our goaltender's always
going to keep us in the game but man
who knows man they might turn it
around but they might not either they got to prove
it and you're right noodles
Seattle tomorrow right
like that's a team you can get and
the least Nevada is soft sced and they're
three and two but it could be better
three and two is still fine like you're fine
with that you're happy with that and
they're a veteran team that didn't have much
preseason their vets didn't play a lot
and they're still trying to wade their way
into the season to an extent but
you've got a real opportunity I would think
of your Craig Barouba, to get to your team, Storlau's got to play a lot of these games.
You know, the back-to-backs you won't.
But you've got an opportunity, I think, to get halfway through November, maybe all the way to U.S.
Thanksgiving and be in a really good position.
Really good position.
Yeah, their first game against the team that was in the playoffs, like last year, is Carolina November 9th.
Like, that's what it looks like.
You've got Buffalo, you've got the Islanders, you've got Utah.
you've got, you know, it just, it's, it's, it's, it's a good schedule.
It doesn't mean you're going to win all and just show up and put your gear on and you're
going to win, but it's a favorable schedule, and 11 out of 16 at home, too.
That's where you can start your players and, you know, Stolars can get a bunch of those
starts and that type of stuff.
So it is favorable for them.
Again, you've got to go out and play the games, but it looks good for them at some point here
in the next, we'll call it three weeks.
Yeah, it does.
And Willie, two more assists last night, you know, William Nealander's been in the
the limelight and Craig Barrube.
It still hasn't had his best yet, though.
No.
That's the crazy thing.
Yeah, he's still.
In overtime is pretty damn good.
That was a beautiful.
It was beautiful, beautiful, yeah.
Beautiful play.
And even the one to nines, I don't think he meant to bank it off him, but.
But thank God they just kept it.
You don't think he did that?
No.
Do you think he went to fire it across and it hits?
I thought it hit the goal.
I don't think he was trying to hit the net, though.
I don't know what he was trying.
It was just like there's a guy there.
I'm chucking it there and who the hell knows what's going to happen because we haven't
scored on the power play yet.
Yeah.
It works, but yeah, you're right.
Willie's got more, and he's, you know, top 10 in the league and points.
He gets multiple points every single night.
So it's a good scene from that standpoint.
That's when you know you're a talented player, man.
When you haven't really brought your best,
and all of a sudden you're like top 10 in the league and scoring.
Yeah.
Like that's a pretty good setup.
Not everybody does that, man.
Pretty good set up.
All right, so the Leafs is back in action tomorrow game.
Five of the ALCS tonight.
We'll get to that later this afternoon.
Of course, Jay's Mariners.

guys want to see an exchange j p i know you're not on the
TV side, but maybe you can get it.
Lou Panella.
Lou Panella in the
clubhouse starts
fighting one of his players.
Do you remember that, Hayes?
Rob Dibble is the name of
the player. Was it with the Reds?
Really? With the Reds? He was a relief pitcher.
He went on to be on the best
damn sports show period. Remember that show?
Rob Dibble was on that.
Yeah, Dibble. And Dibble
was like laying a beat.
eating on.
I know.
And Lou Panella looked, really, we've got to try to find it because he's not that big
and he's like, he want to be treated like a man, you can't be, you can't be serious,
you can't be treated like a man.
And then Dibble just grabs him and, like it was the weirdest exchange, man.
Very awkward.
And guys around them were like, what is going?
They don't know how to react.
Yeah.
The manager is fighting a player.
Right.
Lou Pinella and Rob Dibble.
And Dibble was.
Lou Pinella.
He had a huge.
head, did he? Yes, he did.
Massive head.
Dude, he always used to run out to home plate and start kicking dirt on it and throwing his hat.
He had some legendary freak out when he was with the Mariners, I think.
That's right.
Well, he was their manager in 01.
The last time they went to the CS and they won 116 games or whatever, I believe.
And he had the shortest fuse in sports, like a ball an inch outside and losing it.
He'd snap all the time.
Yeah.
And he was just one of those big personalities.
There used to be a lot of those guys.
Sparky Anderson.
Sparky Anderson, yeah.
We'd just start snapping on people.
There were a bunch of managers, and that was their whole thing.
Lasorda, occasionally, I think.
Tommy LaSorda, I think, every once in a while, would blow a gasket.
And it was just totally accepted, and you don't really see it as much anymore.
But we'll find that.
I thought you were going to reference you want to see a look.
Aaron Rogers, the one he gave the Broderick Jones last night.
after he tackled Aaron Rogers after the touchdown.
I can't even think about how mad I would be if some giant monster tackled me
and you didn't want.
Who would want that on your own team?
Like what kind of dummy would do that?
I totally agree.
I've seen people online saying, oh, it must be fun being around Aaron Rogers.
What a great teammate he is.
Oh, really?
Some guy 350 pounds tries to tackle you to celebrate?
Yeah, and like you got to know, yeah, you've got to know that Aaron Rogers is a bit of a diva and he does not want any part of this right here.
Like he's like, he's like, get the hell away from me.
Lou Pinella, he gets up and goes Lou Pinella on Roderick Jones.
He starts yelling at the O.C. He was so angry.
And yet that's the guy who went through an Achilles injury and a recovery and a recovery and a rehab.
Yeah.
And, yeah, it probably flashed before his eyes.
Like, I could blow my Achilles out here because my teammates jumping on me because we just scored a touchdown.
Crazy.
You've seen celebrations where guys get hurt, right?
Remember Jason Arnett, like, jumped into the glass and blew his knee out?
There's in the CFL, isn't there, that kicker that jumped up and blew his knee out?
But, like, that's a celebration where your teammate hurts you, not just you because you're so excited.
I think that was the NFL grammatica, like kicked a field goal, and he jumped in the air and he totally blew his knee completely out.
That's right.
That's right.
Well, there was the famous one, the Argos kicker who was hot dogging after he scored a touchdown and tried to spike the ball.
He bagged himself, remember?
And then the defender pushed him and, like, tossed him because he kind of dropped and then the guy just buried him.
It's one of the funniest clips ever.
It is.
He spiked it right into his own rear end.
Yes, like badly.
and then the defensive player just basically tossed them 15 yards.
But, yeah, you're right, that happens.
It happens at home plate from time to time, too, guys.
You know, like if it's a walk-off and everyone's at home plate
and they kind of come in and they do the big jump and try to land on the plate,
that happened famously to like a really good player in the last couple of years.
I can't remember who it was, but, yeah, like, Blue is ACL out or something like that.
Celebrating a home-off.
What the
When Wilson
Is cooking
Yeah,
Playing Millie Vanilly, man
These guys can't pick a winner
I cannot pick a winner
Step right into the trap
Right into the trap
And I played it beautifully
You guys walked down
Like it's right into the trap
Parts
Dude Bengals were a lock last night
Oh they weren't
Go ahead Luke
Go ahead explain yourself
Explain where our thinking was
And where it went wrong
And how Joe Flacko
Of all people
sewered us. What happened?
Seward us. You know,
the two things happened,
and we were jammed early. I mentioned it on the
thing. I'm like, the turnover margin is going to be big for
our spread. The first pick,
D.K. stops running.
I'm like, D.K.,
you've got, and if you watch
the end of the game, you've got the guy who might
have the strongest arm in the NFL still. Might
at least be in the top five.
And it's like, you can
never stop running with Aaron Rogers.
You can't do it. So we throw a pick there,
yet one ripped out of DK's
arm. And I still thought at one point
we're being in good shape. I mean, Aaron
threw for 4 TDs.
They scored 31 points or whatever was.
And instead, we give up
300, was it 349,
342 to Joe Flacco?
Like,
on a Thursday where the guy hasn't even
been here for two weeks, we get
to the point out, I watch a thing after. You want
to go with frustration with his pick, Partsy.
The zone read where Flacco took off
on his post-game presser, he
said, yeah, I was actually supposed
some motion in the receiver, but the guys
were on the, off the ball, it was on the
ball, so I said, screw it, I'll just run its own read.
Joe Flap was running zone reads now.
Michael Vick. I can't, I can't even.
And now, we're in a hole, we're in a hole, parts.
Well, we can get out of it. A lot of time. We've got a big weekend ahead.
So, Luke, where are you at with Aaron
Rogers getting tackled by his own player?
I mean, are you fine with that? I mean,
the look at... No, it's a stupidest thing on planet
Earth. It's so dumb.
also like it'd be one thing if
Aaron saw it coming
like hey man I'm coming for this big bear hug
and you know you kind of land on the guy's back
and like and I still think that would be ridiculous
but the idea that you have Aaron Rogers
who's what two years removed from
a non-contact Achilles
oh by the way this guy's
old is dirt relatively speaking
in NFL terms
he also looks a bit brittle if I'm going to be honest
to you maybe it's too many ayahuasca trips
I mean, the arm's great.
You guys know I love Aaron, but he's not built like, you know, a middle linebacker here.
You're going to come up from behind and jump on him and tackle him to the ground.
Oh, and just to make matters potentially even worse, if he gets hurt, your entire season is imploded because Mason Rudolph is your backup.
Like, every week in this league, it blows my mind just some of the stupidity that occurs.
And we got treated to a lot of stupidity last night on Thursday night.
So it's always enjoyable to watch.
Well, and maybe the most significant stupidity was with a team that wasn't even playing,
and that's the Cleveland Browns, because, again, you look at it,
and I was watching clips from shows in Cleveland going nuts today.
How do you trade Flacco?
Like, how do you trade them?
And if you trade them, how do you trade them to the Bengals?
Fair point.
Like, how do you trade –
To the crazier is that, like, yes, if there's anything yesterday said,
it's that the ASC North is wide open.
Right.
You know, the Steelers are only one game up in the win column.
I think it's one and a half because they had to buy.
But they're one game up now in the win column on the Bengals.
The Bengals, I believe, are three and four, and the Steelers are four and two.
So, like, this AFC North at this moment with the injuries, with the way the Ravens have played,
10 wins could, I'm not saying it will, but 10 wins could win you the division if everyone keeps beating each other.
how do you give up this early in the year
if Joe Flacko's got the ability to do what he did last night?
It's pretty shocking.
It's pretty shocking.
And like you said, to make matters worse,
you trade him in the division to a team now that, again,
I still think they have issues on defense,
but to a team that is in the thick of being able to win this division.
Because they are.
They're a game and a half out of the lead now.
so we'll get to our picks in a moment
Alice brother will join us in a minute
you're in Winnipeg for Friday Night Football
which will be hosting the Great Cup of course this year
Machine Gun Kelly did I see that last night
I think Machine Gun Kelly's going to be doing the halftime show
and yeah
okay I'm okay with that but where are we at with the bombers
because they're still they're likely doing the crossover here right
is that what's coming they're moving to the east and they got the riders
tonight I mean it's on
In noodles, you'll appreciate this?
It's very unlikely, but I am full steam ahead personally on Edmonton running the table.
Now, today's the big one.
They're in the other Friday night game.
They've got to beat B.C., but Edmonton's got a way to backdoor this thing.
And I think that team can get nasty if they get into the dance.
But they basically, from here and out, they've got to win all the way through.
So I'm pulling for Edmonton.
You know, and the tiebreaker gets really weird in this league, hey,
when it becomes like the crossover,
but then there's weird tiebreakers.
So I think if you're a bombers fan right now,
you want to see them like get the ship righted.
And what I mean by that is there's been moments this year
where Winnipeg has looked like they're going to contend
for another great cup.
And then there's been moments where Winnipeg looks like
they're slightly better than Ottawa.
And that's Ottawa's looked pretty bad at most times this year.
So, you know, Saskatchewan's got not much
to play for to me you're at home right now it's a bit of a dreary day out there true fall
winnipeg night come out here handle your business kind of change this snare especially coming off
last week if you're winnipeg but it'll be interesting man this uh the cfl is a different beast
i don't think there's a clear-cut frontrunner right now no i'm not sure there is either and
yeah with the crossover happening there could be two teams from the west meeting in the great
cup and that is very possible because i think that'd be awesome man yeah that would be kind of cool like
if it was Winnipeg at home playing like the
Rough Riders or something like that, that would be
insane. I mean, that's
the iconic, that's the iconic
one. Again, me personally, I'm hoping
Cody Fajardo finds a way
to beat Nathan Rourke today.
And then this last week
the season's going to get nuts.
But, uh, and that, man, that would be fun.
Okay. But if he ended up doing one
day,
the first star,
Alvater. I love that.
cuts you off mid-CFL take and just says that's enough thanks for everything no more chitty chat
it's time to pick winners als brother it's great seeing you bud like people are stopping me in the
street saying alsbrother is uh basically the new sam rothstein man like you're you're changing
the world of gambling and it's sam rossstein that's effectively what people that's how's brother
just tell me this hang on a sec tell me this who would you have taken last night i know you were
our pick. You're telling me you would have taken
the Bengals? Oh, Bengals all
day. I mean, here's the most
perplexing stat. I'll play
the most perplexing stat. Mike Tomlin
on the road, Thursday night football,
2 and 10 overall, he's never
ever won a game
on the road on Thursday night football against
the AFC North, never. And Mike
Tomlin is such a highly respected coach.
That stack kind of perplexes me.
That is just tremendous information.
That is the definition
of tremendous information. Kind of is.
It really is.
It really is.
That's why we're getting calls from people all around the world,
saying we've got to fly you in.
We need haze and boat to take over the whole operation.
And we just say no.
Right, Elis, brother, we're not doing it.
We're not leaving it.
That's just you and I, pal.
Just you and I.
Just you and I rock at the show.
All right, we're off first.
London game.
Jags Rams.
Actually, this is a lot better than what they suffered last week with the jets over there.
Rams laying three against the Jags.
Al's brother, where do you lean on this one?
Yeah, no Pooka Nakua, though, which sucks for the Rams.
No puka in this one.
But they still got Devante Adams, and I think they can still get the run game going.
They got the number one run-blocking offensive line.
Luke's besties over at PFF would tell you that.
The Jags ranking 27th in run-stop and win rate.
So I think that Kairn Williams will still be able to kind of carve them up on the ground.
You know, Maddie Stafford, he can still get it done.
I think by a field goal, I think the Jags showed their true colors last week when they lost there.
they're too reliant on takeaways and if staffer protects the football they won't get those
extra possessions i like the rams by field goal here yeah i think i'm feeling that too man the jaggs
they burned us last time i have no interest in them anymore they had a good start it's not
going to continue the rams are rolling mcvay's going to own this coaching battle lock it in hayson bro
plus four we're on the rams um all right owen wilson eagles two and a half at vikings tough game tough
That's tough.
Dude, I don't know.
Why do you always say that when it's our game?
I see this as not a tough decision, but Patsy, go ahead.
Really?
You have to say.
Hearts, I know they've struggled, but we got to go with the Eagles here at that low of the line.
Some point the Eagles got figured out, but our guy, Vic Fangio.
Thank you.
Our guy, Vic Fangio, whether it's Carson Wentz or whether it's J.J. McCarthy, like, can you imagine if JJ's rolling in this thing and he's got to face Vic Fangio in this defense?
also philly was embarrassed last week on defense everybody saw it this is a championship caliber team
they're going to come out here hungry ready to prove a point i got to go i got to go philly
all right carson went's revenge game i love this man yes when i saw that when was that guy playing there
eight years ago yeah it was yeah i think he won rookie the year he was on pace for before you got hurt
oh yeah right number two overall pick there you go would have won them the super bowl but obviously
nick foles went in there did his thing but greasy i mean he was he was a dog
before that injury.
The thing I would say here for Philly,
like this is a must win for them.
Like you get embarrassed last week.
You've lost two in a row now.
Everyone's talking about how, you know,
dysfunctional things are in Philadelphia.
Got to get the win to kind of silence that, don't you?
Yeah, I think you're right.
And they lost to the Giants on Thursday night,
extra time to repair or prepare for this game.
I can reason with the Eagles land points here.
All right.
Bikin is on a buy, though.
Bikin's coming off a bite too.
I like that, Ellis, brother.
I like that a lot.
Colts at Chargers, is it Chargers laying one and a half, Doogie?
Yes, the Chargers are laying one and a half at home against Indianapolis.
I mean, I'm biased for this one.
You know that.
Like, my Colts, and the way that they've been playing football this year, Part C,
they look like they could possibly win a Super Bowl here.
So I'm getting points with the Colts.
It's the number one offense in the NFL and the number four defense,
scoring defense in the NFL.
It is a team that's putting up 30 points each and
every single game.
Jonathan Taylor is putting up 100 yards every game,
leads the NFL in rushing,
and this is a team that can't stop the run.
They're 28th in giving up five yards per carry.
So you just keep in the rock to Jonathan Taylor,
opens up the play action.
Danny Dimes eventually will take his shot down to Pittman,
Tyler Warren,
you know, Alec Pierce with a deep ball.
I think they'll start putting up some points here.
So you're giving me points with the potential Super Bowl champion cults?
Yeah.
I got to take my colt's, but this is biased.
It's a tough one.
I got to hear your gut feeling part in this one, man.
You got the final sound.
My gut instinct says Justin Herbert's a little bit distracted out there, right?
Like the Victoria's Secret fashion shows been going on.
And Herbert's in a different place, man.
He's in a different headset.
He's got a rocket for an arm, though.
You've got to be careful of that guy.
He does have a rocket for an arm.
Yes, he does.
Yeah.
I'm on the Colts, man.
I'm on the ownership in Indianapolis, right on the sideline.
I've always been a proponent of that, always been a fan of that whole operation.
I love what they're doing out there.
The Ursaid Daughters, I love the whole operation.
Getting points, like you said, Jonathan Taylor's been unreal.
We'll take the points.
We'll lock it in.
We'll lock it in.
Colts.
Hayes and bro.
You didn't feel good about that.
You didn't feel good about that.
It's a coin flip game.
I've got to be honest.
I'm going to lean with my partsy because he's seen the board so well.
All right, Sunday nighter, Falcons at Niners.
and Niners laying one and a half at home.
Parks, I'm going to be honest here.
I like the Falcons.
I really do.
And you can push back on me here,
but the way the Falcons just absolutely smack the bills around.
The fact that Fred Warner's out, you know,
and Bejohn is humming right now.
The run game is humming.
Penix is a little inconsistent.
but I really think the Falcons are going to figure out a way to win this game.
I just, I got to go that way.
But if you want the Niners, you can take them.
No, I like the call.
I like the call.
After what they did, the buff, why not jump on board?
Totally.
I never kind of.
Not at home anymore, man.
Under the Lights against Shanahan and the Niners, Santa Clara.
That's a tough game, man.
Tough atmosphere.
You put your parts see there, but I think it'll be good.
You put a big deal on Under the Light.
Like, you love tossing out under the lights.
Absolutely.
Under the lights.
I do with young quarterbacks.
Tomlin on the road, Thursday nights, under the lights, nope, just can't bet them.
Exactly.
Just can't do it.
Kirk Cousins under the lights?
At any place on Earth?
No, can't do it.
That one was legit.
And who's suiting up for Atlanta?
Who's suiting up for Atlanta?
Kirkie Cousins.
On the sideline, but that stage is going around and locker room.
He's just existing under the lights, and that's not good mojo for the falcons.
If Kirk Cousins gets into this game, I'll pick Atlanta minus eight.
Okay.
No one's better than primetime Kirkgo bangs.
Kirkman pumpkins.
This line has moved a lot.
I guess it opened three and a half.
I think it's been bet down to one and a half.
So Falcons, a lot of money coming in on Atlanta.
All right, boys.
Good stuff.
Picks are in.
Locked in.
Haysen, bro.
Three up.
Just a field go-goals, brother.
We don't stop, right?
We don't stop.
Absolutely.
No mercy rule this year.
Upcoming.
no mercy rule all right boys good stuff we'll catch you guys early next week there's uh luke wilson
al's brother doing what they do best making picks supplying tremendous information how much is kirkie
cousins making sitting on the sidelines a lot of money i think it's 30 million or something like
that wow yeah i thought it was a two or three year deal at 30 million like fully guaranteed that's
why he's not being cut or anything like that it was like an 86 million dollar deal or something right
And then they drafted Pennix immediately.
Before you had even taken a snap, they drafted Pennix.
And this is it.
I believe this is his third year down there.
I'm pretty sure.
Maybe a second.
But, yeah, Atlanta's been pretty impressive.
They have been.
They've been pretty good.
All right.
So those games are locked in.
NFL this weekend.
We've got, obviously, the Jays are playing this weekend.
We've got the Leafs plan tomorrow night.
I've got a lot of stuff going on this week.
We'll continue to hit on it.
Mike Johnson coming up.
Johnny, in about 15 minutes.
Deer Hazy B still to come as well.
Overdrive continues.
TSN 1050 and on the TSN app.

Guys, I got to tell you, I think Ray Ferraro went to my defenseman hut.
and took a flamethrower to it last night.
Yes.
You guys remember our defenseman hut, who the defensemen were in the hut?
Yes.
I don't think Ray.
Wasn't happy with Evan Bouchard last night and his play in particular?
I think Ray said, I don't know if I've seen an NHL player play this bad for two periods.
What a statement.
Like Ray's been in the NHL for 40 years as a player.
and broadcaster and he doesn't think he's seen anyone play that bad before through two periods
well it's it's it's not wrong like if you look at it Evan Bouchard is a you know casual player
but these are just like they're dumb mistakes like they're lazy mistakes like if you watch him
he doesn't look very good to start the season I don't know if he's out of shape or it's just a
poor start or whatever you got to give my guy one thing though Jamie
He responds.
Listen, he's a fantastic player.
But, you know, fantastic players can play poorly.
We see it all the time.
He needs to respond, though.
That's the difference.
Plus, we talked about it.
Go ahead.
Plus, when you're paying a guy 10 sheets,
you're expecting that these little blips start going away.
You know what I mean?
Like, you think he gets to a point being around McDavid and Drysidal,
watching them.
learning that you're the go-to guy and these just start going away and they're never heard from
again but they're popping up agreed and you get called out like it was a couple was a couple games
ago chief called out kneelander you know what he did put up points he looked good bouchard has to
look like he cares more that's the biggest knock against him he's very casual and that's the
best thing about him and the worst thing about him but he played terrible last night there's no
getting around it well and you you compare in contrast with that math
Matthew Schaefer kid, he is set in the league on fire.
People are buzzing about Schaefer and his skating ability and how aggressive he is.
And I was, you know, hitting gaps and supplying offense.
And, like, they're not a very good team in New York.
Like that Islander team is, I don't believe they're going to be a playoff team.
But he looks very good, very, very good.
Yeah, good building block, really good.
Yeah, really quality building block, like you said.
It's early, but pretty good start.
