Changing lives, one job at a time.
Hour 2 Overdrive continues, powered by Fandoul, and what a weekend we're about to have with the Jays in action tonight.
Back to the dome on Sunday night for game six, and if they can go out there and find a way to sweep that three-game series in Seattle,
which is what they did in May, albeit that was in the regular season, man, the dome is going to be rocking on Sunday night.
It'll be rocket anyway, but if you come home with a lead and a chance to punch a ticket to go to a World Series,
The most famous game in that stadium's history was game six.
What do you think about mojo, momentum?
A lot of people in hockey, like World Juniors, Bobby Mac would say momentum, game to game,
don't really believe in it.
Don't you think they got to have the momentum?
Absolutely.
If you believe in it, you have to, for sure.
And I think what you have to believe in is confidence,
and you have to believe in, like, bats being alive.
Maybe that's just the word, confidence.
Like, they have some confidence that they can get some hits and somebody can go deep.
That's it.
Like, Blattie did it again last night.
Andreas Jimenez has hit back-to-back home runs in that park, which is incredible.
And enjoy it because that was probably it.
That may be it.
Yeah, so enjoy it and somebody else got to step up.
He may not hit another home run until June next year.
Dude, you're not kidding.
Legit.
But Barger was unbelievable.
He made a couple of catches in right field.
The throw to get Nailer out to end the sixth was incredible.
and they still take them out later in the game and gets on base.
Straw goes out there as a pinch runner and then starts playing right field and everyone's all in.
Like they're just, they're a really complete team that's clearly connected.
They all know what the plan's going to be and they're really fun to watch play.
Like they're a really fun team.
Just got to pull it off.
Can you sweep out there and bring it home or, you know, if you leave one there?
I think it's not so much momentum.
It is confidence, though, because the bats went away for really two games.
and then now they're back, and they're back with vengeance type of thing.
So can you keep that rolling, or are we going to see a 2-1 game in one of these games?
It's tough to see that at this point, Noodles.
It really is.
I would have said that going into game one.
I didn't think that was going to happen.
It did.
But what I think makes it difficult for momentum is the nature of the sport
where there's new starters on the mound tonight, right?
It's just two completely different players.
You got Gosman and Miller and who knows what they're going to do
when they're second time through the series.
But in terms of the bats, I have to believe the Blue Jays are feeling very comfortable going into the game tonight.
Blattie's status, man.
Yeah.
He's been title.
People are calling him now he's the best player in the playoffs because Otani's been garbage.
That's right.
Best player in the playoffs.
That's pretty cool, man.
Player in the playoffs.
That's exactly what he's been.
You look collectively through it, man.
The guy has been a rock star.
He's played eight games.
And outside of the two against Seattle to start the series,
again he didn't strike out
he struck out I believe once
in the whole the whole playoff run
one strikeout like he has been
so dialed in he looks so good
he looks so comfortable
and they signed him it could you imagine
if they hadn't signed him yet
and there were like reports Ken Rosenthal
on the field like I'm hearing the Yankees
are going all in on Vladimir
Guerrero Jr. when we get to the winter meetings
probably would probably would
now he probably wouldn't
sign there because he clearly hates the
Yankees.
He wouldn't have hated the Yankees if they were tossing the cash around.
Trust me on that.
Well, let me ask you this.
He even said, Hayes, before you ask me, he even said, I'm going to talk to every other
team, yes, including the Yankees.
He did say that.
I think that was a leverage play, and the Blue Jays, you know, hook line and sinker said,
all right, what's it going to cost?
And when he signed for 500, everyone's head was like, whoa, 500?
What do you think they'd have to pay them after this?
Probably Soto money.
Do you think he would have got $700 million from the Jay?
Dude, I don't know, but that would have been the ass probably.
23 home runs during the regular season.
You're right now.
100%.
Didn't have a, didn't have like a phenomenal regular season at all.
But let's not forget the line I just mentioned.
Best player in baseball.
There's only four teams left, but still pretty cool.
But they weren't saying that three days ago when he was, oh for, you know.
You're right.
For seven to start his season.
We got a guy in the line that would know what he would ask for.
Let's go to the agent himself, Mike Johnson, or T.S.N. Hockey.
Mike Boros.
Mike, yes.
Mike Boros.
Exactly.
All right.
Play the role of Vladdy's agent.
All right.
Let's pretend he didn't sign.
And he's having this off.
He's having this incredible playoff run.
And, you know, three weeks from now, let's say in this magical role that Jay's actually end up winning the World Series.
And you're Mark Shapiro and you get a call up or you get a call from Shapiro.
And he goes, Mike, I got to, we just want to know, lay it on the line for me.
What do I have to pay your guy to keep him in Toronto?
Mark, who's the highest paid batter in the league?
I'm not sure he pitches.
Soto?
Juan Soto.
I got a guy here.
I got a guy who not only does it in the regular season can do it in the playoffs,
can be the lightning rod of a team coming together and winning a championship.
Oh, did I mention he's the best defensive first baseman in the entire league.
so we'll take Soto
plus 7%.
I think it's only fair
Soto plus
I think the Mets would do the same thing right now.
Yeah.
Well, you're right though.
It's interesting because forget the Yankees.
The Mets might say we'll give you $800 million.
We'll give you $800 million.
You think Shapiro
the only big market team.
You think they've sat back a couple times
and said thank God we didn't sign him.
Soto?
Yeah.
Soto?
that's an interesting question because if they did
Vladie would not be signed
it would not be here in the future
that's Jonas's guy you guys be
careful there
Soto's still a great player
let's be clear here
Soto's still pretty damn good man
exactly all right
I would want to negotiate
Asia's job is asked for as much as possible
in a non-cap environment
Brian Hayes is not even asking for me to take a
discount I can still be a great teammate who wants
to win by going for
Fort Knox and every last set of
available. So that's what I'm going for.
Totally. I got a good case.
It's right. If he keeps doing this, he's doing historical stuff.
And if it weren't for the stumble on first base, he would have the cycle last game.
That's right.
It's unbelievable.
You're right, man. This guy is a machine.
He's a machine. There's no other way to put it.
Vladia is so dialed in. He's so locked in. He's a driving force for a team.
And he's likable. And he's a likable guy.
It's likable.
Very likable.
You can build a fan base rooting for him. That's the unusual.
you're right very likable and i give him a lot of credit man he's doing a lot of interviews
and he's speaking english and that's difficult like that's that's not an easy thing you know it's
his second language but he's doing it and i think that's what comes with the price tag too johnny
you get paid 500 you're the man you're going to be you're going to be the face of this franchise
for the rest of time his number's going to be retired he's going to own every single record
you know i i think what comes with that is an obligation like you got to get out there you got to talk
You've got to speak for yourself, for the team.
You've got to be representing and wins and losses.
During the offseason, we're going to call you.
You're going to have to go do some things.
I think that's kind of the way it works.
You had me until the off season, then you lost me.
In my contract, you don't call me until springtaining starts.
There's no banquet meet and greets for me, all right?
Don't worry about that.
But you're right.
You're the face of the franchise, marketing campaigns, all the rest of it.
And the one interesting component, you mentioned doing the interviews in English.
because for a long time you used the translator and the interpreter or whatever and I understand that like it's tricky but I think the appreciation people have and I you know the hockey idea like in Montreal like you don't have to be fluent in French but if you try just try a little bit the fans would appreciate it so much more even with your not good it's amazing the goodwill that you could absorb like if I'm Nick Suzuki or Cole Coffield or any of those guys are going to be there for a decade like rudimental
A elementary French lesson.
Grade 3 French.
Yes, I'm happy.
Yes, good game.
Yes, I like the city.
Yes, I like my teammates.
You do that in French, and they'll love you forever.
And Vladis, you know, I appreciate that in him, like, going out of his way to do something uncomfortable.
He probably doesn't have to interviews in English.
I do like that.
I also think, though, guys, like he probably speaks better English or understands better English than he led on for a while there.
but it's probably uncomfortable in front of the camera talking it, correct?
Like, you know, we've all known guys from Europe and all that understand.
They understand better than we do, but when the coach yells at them or when something goes wrong,
you're like, you know, they throw their arms in the air, no, no English.
I've always felt, maybe this is just personally, I've always felt that Lattie speaks fluent English,
but it's like, I don't want to do all of that.
You know when the Europeans really forgot English when they got pulled over?
this is true
no English
Andre Markoff
that defenseman in Montreal
Andre Markoff
obviously a lot of media in Montreal
and he'd be like
no speak no speak
and then we go out to dinner together
he's like Jerry Seinfeld in English
he's the funniest guy you can imagine
but for a decade he went with
I can't speak English
so he didn't have to do any interviews
so yeah that that plays well
when you can get away with it
savvy and he played like a thousand games
in Montreal, too, man.
He was there for a long time.
Well, I'll tell you what,
Cole Coughfield, he keeps
scoring goals like he did last night.
The tying goal and the O-T
winner was, who do you
have more of an appreciation for
with that play? Was it Suzuki
knowing he had enough time to pull it off
or Cofield, you know,
not panicking in the moment and actually
scoring the goal?
I mean, Coffield shot was great,
right? Cross-body, back against the grain,
wobbling puck, off the heel to get
up, not easy to do. But
Suzuki to Meehays, like the
fly-by, drawing Yossi,
flip it back to
Caulfield, screen the goalie while you're on the way
in, keep him on his goal line. I thought that was an
amazing play. Also, I don't know if he had the awareness
that there was three seconds left or not, but I just thought
not just to stuff it in the pads on
Saros, but to make the play, be the distraction
and then kick at the Caulfield. Yeah,
right now Montreal is riding on the electric train.
Like they are, everything
that could be going right in Montreal,
the games, the late results, the overtime,
it's feel good party time right now
if there can be such a thing after five games
Where do you think they can take it though Johnny
Like building off of last year
Where they were overwhelmed in the first round
Even if they have an ad
Like a quality player at the deadline
Where do you think those guys can go
With what they are?
Because they are exciting right now
I think they can grow pretty quickly
Like I think they could push into the upper echelon
Of the Eastern Conference
Like I don't know when push comes to shove
but a full Florida healthy team
walks into Montreal, like that's probably
a tough assignment. But if Florida
is not healthy, um, like I think
Noah Dobson is playing incredible
defensive hockey, which is a bit
of surprise for him, but he's doing it.
And Matheson's been better than he's ever
been. Right now, Hudson
is what he is. If they get one more
forward, oh, and probably a centerman,
like, you know, they are thinner down the middle,
but they get one more, their first
line is as good as any in hockey.
And second line, probably needs
some work but down the roster they're really good veteran guys i think they have the pieces
and if you believe in montevone maybe that's noodles department but yeah they're they're really good
and they seem to be fearless and i wouldn't surprise me if they sort of have the ability to
maybe jump a few steps in their evolution they don't need four years to figure out how to get better
and maybe win a bit more maybe they get there right away they're they have the pieces now you know
one more center which is a big a big piece but other than that like they're they're pretty good
yeah quickly john
on the HABs before I wanted to ask you about the Leafs, but I agree.
Like, does Doc seem like a guy who could be your two or maybe push him down a little bit farther?
That's my big question mark there, right?
Is Kirby Doc?
Yeah, I mean, you get into the playoffs and you go, okay, can he outplay Sam Bennett in the second line?
Probably not.
Can he outplay?
Taylor Dubois, can probably not.
Can he outplay?
Nico Hesier?
Probably not.
Like, you know, there's second line centers around all those guys that are,
better than him now he might get there he's not there yet physically too much time off whatever
maybe maybe he doesn't get there but yeah so if he was your third line center or played some other
kind of role perhaps but if you could put in i don't even know what big sort of second line center
would well sydney crosbie hayes for you you would sit in that lineup and at the expense of anyone
not named demidov right michael hayes like a really good prospect they drafted first round
at Michigan right now.
You put Crosby in there,
if you have to give a Hage in a first round or for them, whatever.
Yeah, I think they'd stack up against any team
almost personnel-wise in the east.
It's impressive.
So, Johnny, the Leafs get one in overtime last night.
You did the game.
You know, what do you make of their last couple games,
obviously, scoring, feeling a little bit better.
Their top guys getting some points.
You know, it's funny, we were joking about it last week.
Austin Matthews hadn't scored on a lie.
goal tender. Now the sudden he's got four and five
games, and
people don't remember those empty netters. What do you make
of everything and where they're headed? And
I brought up the other thing, Johnny, way in on
as well. Their schedule's quite soft
for the first, like, the next like 16
games would play like five
playoff teams, if that.
Yeah, and I think eight of their first
11 at home. So, like, you've got to make, hey,
right, you're playing teams that you're supposed to beat with
they've done a good job by the last
several years. They don't lose to the, well,
the terrible teams occasionally, but they beat the teams
generally that they are supposed to beat
now the Rangers are funny
I mean always on the broadcast with this last night
and we know they're having a hard time
scoring goals but if you watch their games
and listen to their coaches and you look at their numbers
they're actually playing well
they just can't score which is
partly bad luck partly good goal tag and maybe
partly lack of finishing skill but
they play well like they outplayed
Edmonton which not many teams have been able
to do this year by a considerable margin they out
they out played Washington they got shut out one nothing
Charlie Lindgren turned into Dominic Hachick but
But they've played well, so it was not going to be to eat.
There's not been one time where you're like maybe the Rangers aren't that good this year.
You haven't said that?
You're fully confident that they're going to get caught.
I'm saying they're not as bad as a team that got shut out three games at home.
They're not like some terrible bottom feeder team.
And they're not playing like it.
They are playing much better.
And they got a goaltender who is playing right now like he's one of the best in the world.
So I'm saying, oh, yeah, they're not cream of the crop, but they're not bottom of the best.
And I think the Leifes played last night.
They didn't play great, actually.
I think Stolars was the reason they won the game, right?
The Rangers had more good chances.
Should have been, should have won that game for one.
But Stolars was amazing.
And I guess that's what he's there to do.
And yeah, there wasn't a lot.
This is my one concern.
How many stretches, whatever the good version of the Leafs are this year,
how many stretches of five minutes or more have we seen them play
consecutively in a game we're like
there it is
that's what it looks like
and look how much better they are than the other team
like they have their moments clearly
but every game is sort of 50-50ish
so every game sort of up in the air
and maybe that's how they're going to play it
and then hopefully their better high-end skill
wins it like it did last night
like the play Neil Leonard and Matthews made it overtime
was stuff that most players can't do
and that's why they won the game
with great goaltending but it's just another game
that was choppy,
not a ton of sustained pressure and, you know, not that confidence-inducing that they have it in them
to just really dictate how games go against team.
They're always sort of in a scrap every game.
And I feel like we had that conversation about them a lot last year,
and yet they won the division.
And that's kind of been what they've been.
You wait for this overwhelming attack or this overwhelming sense of dominance from the leaves.
and it's not really in their DNA or it doesn't appear to be.
And, you know, maybe Matthews is the personification of that.
Like, he's not, you know, he's not like McDavid
that's going to overwhelm you with his skating
and he's not this big powerhouse like Lindross or something
that's going to have that impact and show it.
He just kind of, you know, he's just very smart, very crafty,
picks his spots, you know, he's a guy who go on an assist,
look pretty good, but that's kind of the way that they play.
I don't know if it's pick up.
up on his personality. I don't know if that's
a good thing or a bad thing,
but there's still three and two. And last year again,
I remember having these chats a lot. Like, are they
going to dominate? Do they dominate? What are they
at their best? And they won the division
in the end.
So it's hard to complain.
Like, what do you expect? I guess that's
what I'm saying. Clearly,
what they're doing is working. But I think
under Craig Barubei,
what they look like
and what they feel like
is different than what they look
and felt like. Now, maybe they're
successful under Barouba, but the
numbers would tell you they're not as good.
They don't create as many chances. They give up more.
But what they got under Baroubae
and what they have right now and last night is better
goal tending. Now, the goal
tending holds up. You can play 50, 50
games because you've got a goalie that's better
than the guy on the other end, generally, and you
have stars that can finish maybe a bit better
than the other guys, because they've had that.
And maybe that's the recipe.
You know, so long as Stolars doesn't
take a step, because if Stolars goes to
9-10 from 9-25, that's 10 points in the standing.
So good goal-tending makes a lot of things look good.
But it was just a, it was an interesting kind of game.
Like not a lot going on, not a lot of space.
But they found away.
And they won the game, and now they would have, what, Seattle next tomorrow.
So they have a chance.
And then they have Jersey next week, which will be tough.
We got that game on Tuesday.
That'll be a tough game for them.
Johnny, all of us are going to be saying sooner or later when it's not Matthews or
Nyes or Nielander or Tavares, they're going to have some guys step up and provide some offense.
Like, other than Yarn Crump that's had some goals here early, who are you confident that's going to kind of dig in and get that job done?
Because that's coming sooner or later where we're like, someone, I've got to sit on that panel or all of us are going to have to say, like, someone else has got to step up and do something here.
I mean, two guys I like individually, Bobby McMahon and Max Dolmy.
like the way he plays he will get goals he'll get 20 goals he won't make a boatload of great plays and put up a whole watch assistant points oh but he'll score he'll get 20 goals and i think they need a couple guys to chip in like that and then max is the other one max has the talent in the game and he's you know sets up he sets up nice plays and he can score himself but that third line right now is kind of the rest of the guys right like robertson
and Domi and Bobby McMahon.
They're all good players and they all can be effective.
But together it doesn't really feel like that's one that coaches really trust.
So they don't get a ton of opportunity.
And two, like are they really maximizing each other's game?
It doesn't necessarily feel like it.
And it feels almost more than anything.
Like I think Lorenz is playing next game, right?
Tomorrow, Steve Lawrence is playing.
So I think Nick Robertson will not play that game.
And so, you know, if Robertson's not playing, is he getting traded?
Like there's going to be changes coming because they have too many bodies.
Easton Cowan didn't play the last 13 minutes of the game last night.
And I'm not saying changes are coming for him, but, you know, does he slide down back to Lorenz
with Lotton gets back to that fourth line come back together?
Things are going to change again, but I think those two guys, oh, are the two guys I would look to.
And Machelli, you know what?
Machelli, to his defense, we've seen what he looks like when he's good,
which is quick plays, sets up teammates, really good passer, pretty smart player.
He won't score a lot because he's loath to shoot.
But he's a really good passer.
And so if you get up with guys who can score, he'll pick up some points as well.
But that's going to be a question.
That's going to be a question.
Quick follow on Easton Cowan, Johnny.
You know, you play a tougher team in the Rangers, a little heavier,
like a team that does have some skill in that, and, you know, Chief decides to sit him down.
Like, where does he go, or what do you do with him?
Do you put him right back up there, or do you give him maybe a little bit of look farther down in the lineup with Lorenz coming back?
I mean, I don't think you can take it like it's that significant of a blow.
He's three games into his career.
He's going to have some ebbs and flows.
He's playing on a really good team with really good players.
The fact that he plays pretty well, most of the game with him, is a positive.
He's only going to get better.
I don't think it's, you know, you have to worry about pulling them off that line just yet.
They've won a couple games.
Guys have scored.
The guys in his lines are certainly scoring.
So all that, probably stay with it a little longer.
I think Lorenz coming in shuffles the bottom,
but Cowan stays there for a little bit longer.
But I think we talked about the other day.
Like, I don't know that he's going to be there forever.
I mean, there's going to be times either this year for sure.
He's going to get pulled off the line or maybe pulled out of the whole team.
Like maybe he goes to the minors for a little bit up and down because he can,
salaries and bodies and everything else.
But he's doing okay.
And what I liked last night, actually, before he got sat down,
the first couple times he had chances to score.
We've seen him make good plays.
We've seen him bang around him.
fight for pucks and that's all good
and you have to do that every game
but if you're playing there
you also have to occasionally be a threat
to score yourself and the first couple
games as good as they were I don't
get any chances to score that I can remember
he never really was around it
and that's okay but last night he had
great chance for Michelli on the back door
and Shurka made a good save he got in a high slot
he elected to shoot a couple times now
the one time he looks like he's 20 years old
other than when you look at his face
all baby face is when he shoots it he does
not shoot like Jeff
O'Neill shots. Like he just doesn't shoot
that hard. He just, you know,
he shot like I shot, like a lot
softer. And it's harder in today's NHL
if you can't zip it from 25
feet to score because it's hard
unless you're Connor McDavid to get to the front
of the net all the time. So that is one thing, I'm sure
skills coach strength, maturity will help
him. But that's one area that he probably
has to get a bit better to consistently
help scoring. But at least he was around it. He had
looks, which is a step in the right direction. Yeah,
he did. Like I liked his first period. I
I thought he was in it, and, like, they gave him a taste of the second power play, I believe the first one.
Right away. Right away. But then the second one, they put Robertson back on, and they didn't put him out.
So what do you do, Hayes? Both of those guys need the puck touches of a power play, both of them to get whatever you're going to get out of them.
They need that feeding their game with the easier touches, with the time and the space, with maybe some of those secondary points to help drive everything.
else they do and Craig Brubay knows this
he knows he's got to kind of get them both in
there and he probably will sort of
alternate until one of them's
not in the lineup which may
which might be Robertson tomorrow. What was it like when
Storlars his helmet fell off
and all of a sudden
someone's teeing up a slap shot
from the slot? J.T. Miller, a
one-timer from 15
feet like could you imagine if he went
under the bar there? I told
my breath. It was wild
and I get the rule
Nuddles may not like it, but I get the rule where
when there's a scramble around the net
and you're allowed to complete the play
and I see that as like, well, there's a puck
sitting on the goal line and someone's
going to poke it in. Not that a puck is
popping out for a slap shot
from 20 feet away. You probably
could have blown that a little easier. But
some of us had J.T. Miller on a
two total shot prop.
So I was happy that shot counted
and he made the save. But
it's crazy. It's crazy
that in the NHL, the way
guys that the goalie would and and that noodles i don't know how if i was him and that happened to me like
i get not bailing on the play but i'm going to make the save like this like i'm putting the glove
over my face while i try to stop the puck i'm not going to sit there in a normal stance and hope
that he doesn't hit me in the head with a puck like i'm going to protect my face and then i'll
do the rest the best i can but he went at it in a full normal butterfly glove on top of his pad
chin down, ready to take
one, Johnny Bauer style. It was
wild. I mean, the bench was
roaring crazy.
The crazy part is
if Miller did, even if
he shot it low there far side, but
what if it rolls on him? Like,
that's the scary part.
If that puck at the last second jumps up
and he heals that and that takes
off, that's a scary situation
because he does, like
look at it, Miller goes one knee
down there. Jamie. Look at the refs right
behind the net? What is you not seeing?
Just blow it down.
I mean, I think, like you're behind the net.
It's, it's, the league is, we're all around it.
The league is quite a gentleman league for the most part, especially in the regular
season.
Like, you know, last night in a mid-October game, like, and Miller's one knee going
to one time that under the bar, like, let's be careful.
I agree.
I think the minute the bucket comes off, at least put the glove over your face, like, just
in case the puck takes off
but good on him he got credit for a save
with no bucket on it yeah that's pretty cool
that is pretty cool and I
listen not go ahead
that was Matt Renpe passing the puck
there's no telling that puck's gonna sit flat
like that might not be taped to date
perfect and that was with five minutes
left in the third period so the ice is a bit
choppy and then defense his own
oh it was right like that could have bobbled
in a heartbeat and
I get you know as a shooter
if you saw a guy without a helmet almost instinctively you would
want to put the puck on the ice like you wouldn't be thinking buzz the tower but what if you
don't know like things are happening you don't even notice you're like worrying about the shot and
positioning and you're just like you let it go and you drop to a knee like to get it up ah
anyways good on them i don't know that that kind of courage i don't get i don't understand how
your mind doesn't super impose your hand in front of your face i don't know how that doesn't
happen true but then you also see you know in the playoffs guys are dropping down a block shots with
their chest, arms, feet, you know, it's like the nature of the sport.
Yeah, it's a tough sport.
All right, Johnny, have yourself a great weekend, buddy.
We'll do it early next week.
All right, fellas, enjoy the Jay's game tonight.
Should be wild.
Listen, Sunday should be wild.
Sunday's going to be fun, regardless.
Win or lose, but if they win.
Are you going to the game, Hayes?
I'll be down there.
Are you on the game on the field?
I will be down there on the field.
This guy.
Anywhere he goes.
Running the whole operation, making sure everything's
going off without a hitch.
The good luck charm.
That's Ryan Rosenthal with his bowtie.
I will wear a bowtie.
I will wear a bowtie.
They make the World Series.
I'll do Bowtie SportsCenter.
I'll make that pledge right now.
Boatai sports center.
Right there.
Clip that right now.
Done.
That's the keeper.
World Series.
All right, John.
Thanks, buddy.
All right, boys.
Have a good weekend.

Yeah, one of the World Series games.
I'll fire up a bowtie for a sports center.
Double box with Kenny.
I have to now.
Although they may, I could see the producer down there saying you're not doing that.
Like, I'll try, but it's also.
I think Keegan would say, please, that guy's a colleague of mine.
Do not do that.
Yeah.
I can't have it.
You're probably right.
Like TSN has a reputation.
Yeah.
You know, they'd probably prefer I didn't do that.
But I'll give it a shot.
Everybody, we will put out a pole.
Let's not put the cart before the horse here.
They've got two more games to win.
But if they do, there's a pole that goes out and you have to wear a bow tie, for sure.
And if SportsCenter isn't cool with it, because that's a completely different operation, I'll do it on our show.
If it can't be a sports center, I'll do a full show with a bow tie.
All right.
All right.
Steve will that look for two hours?
And we got to get Kenny on, though, for a FaceTime.
We should do Ken Rosenthal FaceTime.
Just two guys in a bow tie.
That's it.
All right, best bets, dear Hasey B coming up.
Game 5 tonight.
We'll tee it up next.

And this will be a big Boston pizza night, I would think, for people across the country.
The Jays, Mariners game five tonight.
You've got Friday night football.
You've got a double header, CFL coming down the stretch, massive, massive implications.
every single game being played as we steamroll towards the Grey Cup
and beautiful Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Yes.
Jets were the win last night.
Yeah, the Jets are on fire.
My Parsi loves Winnipeg.
I think he goes when he ever he goes there, he mentions love this place.
Loves Winnipeg.
Good city.
Pretty sure that's what he's been tweeting out.
That's right.
He loves Winnipeg.
I would say, and this is something I'd love to get a study on,
I have found the people that are from Winnipeg love their home.
town, maybe more than any other Canadian in any other city.
Like, people in Toronto love Toronto, people in Vancouver,
love Vancouver, Quebec, City, Halifax.
People from Winnipeg are so passionate about their city, it's crazy.
And I know that from experience, like having worked with multiple people from
Winnipeg, they cannot stop talking about how great Winnipeg is.
They're defensive about it.
That's very defensive too.
That's a part of it.
But they're pride.
They have a lot of pride.
As they should, it's their hometown, of course.
But as I've said, I grew up in Evanton.
Like, these cities aren't for everybody.
You know, so when people throw shade at them, you're like, okay, I get it, but you never,
you haven't spent a summer there.
You haven't spent, you know, stuff.
We would land in Evanton sometimes.
It's minus 30.
The airport's 40 minutes out of downtown.
You're like, where the hell are we in the, you know, the twilight zone?
Same thing.
I landed in Evanton once, Jamie, and the guy said the guy in the pilot was like, just go
right to the bus it's too cold to grab your pocket jails what are you talking about man
listen these cities aren't for everybody that is just the truth winnipeg people they that are from
there wonderful people i like the city been there several times spent lots of time there
but it's not for everybody because you're right like you're sitting in the delta hotel and
it's minus 38 out in november or december and you're going what are we going to do here
you know like that that sometimes it's it is frustrating or sad or
or you name it.
But the people from there, good people,
and they take a lot of pride in their city.
I love the American player.
Just committed to the Winnipeg Jets for a long time.
I love seeing that.
Yeah, that's right.
Kyle Connor and Connor Hellebuck.
Both of them.
Now, they're both, I believe, from Michigan.
Is Connor from Michigan?
I know Hellebuck is.
Yeah.
Connor might have, maybe he's a Massachusetts guy.
Not that that matters.
But, you know, Michigan, the Midwest.
You know what I'm saying.
Yeah, exactly.
It's kind of all blended together.
Didn't Trubo for years say, like, I like it here, but get me out of here?
Well, yeah, and he chose New York, and I think, didn't his wife want to move to New York?
It doesn't matter, but yes, listen, New York isn't for everyone.
Winnipeg's not for everyone.
It is what it is.
But, yeah, we've got the lineup out tonight.
The Gosman back on the mound.
You got Springer, obviously leading off DH.
It's like the same lineup every single night.
Like, it's amazing.
The Conner Falafah is just a.
an everyday blue jay now and they picked them up off waivers like a month and a half ago and he's
playing every single night and bargers and right and ernie clement like they're infield obviously
vladdie you know vladdie's a superstar and he's a gold glove first baseman and him and has
the same thing but like ernie clement kinder philever playing second barger and right
Lucasen left.
It's still amazing to me.
This is their lineup.
Like, Bichette's not planned.
Yeah.
Sondander's done.
Bichette's not playing and has not played one playoff game.
Dude, what the hell happened to Sontan?
He was supposed to play last night, wasn't he?
And then he said, my back, sorry.
It's not only can I not play, I'm done for the year?
Well, if you ask for a replacement mid-round and it's granted, that guy's done for the year.
You can't just take him out and then the next round reset.
and it's got to be so disappointing.
Because the guy, the back thing, he's been out all season,
and then you come back after you pull the shoot with the back problem,
which I'm sure is legitimate to an extent.
But then Schneider puts some cleanup and says,
I believe in you.
Like, I need you here, I want you here.
You're batting forth tonight.
Yeah.
The next game can't go done, done for the year.
And Joey Lou Perfito has been added to the Ross.
and we'll see if he gets any action tonight.
Obviously, he's not going to start.
I'm not sure what they do.
If they get to the World Series, we'll see.
But Bo Bichette still running sprints.
That'd be the crazy story, man.
If Bo can finally make it back for the World Series.
Ultimate Warrior.
Yes.
Flying out of the gate.
And it's too bad.
It's been that long, man.
It might happen if he's still running sprints.
I thought after what we saw in Toronto where he was kind of wincing
and he was lying on the ground kind of.
It was, like, game over.
Yeah.
Where he looked at somebody and said, there's no more of this.
I'm not doing this anymore.
I got to ask my buddy, I got a knee surgeon who I've talked about, Dr. Danny Whelon, the best surgeon in the world, he did my knee, and it's still top-notch.
I'm going to send him a text and say, what the hell do you think is going on here?
Because, well, just the fact that it's been this long, like no surgery or anything like that.
Like, it's pure rehab.
You know, it's pure, like, PCL, something's up.
he just doesn't feel great, and it's been six weeks, and he's still not playing.
And obviously, he's not, he wasn't added to this roster, so there's nothing you could do.
Even if it feels great tonight, Bo can't play.
But hopefully, again, knock on wood, don't want to put the car before the horse.
But if they get to the World Series, man, that would be an incredible return, an incredible return.
The idea that Boba Sheck could be there.
And as of now, it seems pretty clear you're going to be playing the L.A. Dodgers, right?
like the Dodgers, the definition of being in the driver's seat,
up 3-0-0 on Milwaukee.
And I just don't see how Milwaukee even wins a game.
No, I just don't, like, it just feels like U-Hauls are packed
and you just want to go home.
They're the Florida Panthers, man.
As soon as the playoffs starts, they're just like, we're going to destroy you.
And that's what they've been doing, man.
Destroying people.
Like, they were in the wild card round.
Wild card.
Because they were like, whatever, we'll win 92 games or whatever,
and just we don't care go ahead philly go ahead Milwaukee you can have home field
it doesn't matter that didn't matter but like and you're saying you know
Otani hasn't been dominant that's the scary part for them is there you know they're up
three Cobb and and rolling along and ottony doesn't have to shoulder the
lones and freddie freeman and someone i saw a great tweet last night because there's you know
of course all the complaints are coming that the dodgers are a super team and that you know
this is why there's going to have to be
possibly a salary cap
into the future, and
I've got to find it here. Someone put up, yeah, okay,
some guy named Mike
on Twitter said, well, if the raise
had paid Blake Snell or Tyler Glass
now, what they wanted, they wouldn't be
Dodgers, true. Both of them
the raise are like, we're not paying, you see you later.
If the socks paid mookie
bets what he wanted, he wouldn't be a
Dodger. The Angels gave Otani
what he wanted, which I'm not sure that
was possible, but maybe if they built a winner,
or he'd still be in L.A. with the Angels.
If the Braves gave Freddie Freeman what he wanted,
he wouldn't be a Dodger.
And you can go on and on and on.
Like, yes, the Dodgers swept in and said,
fine, we'll pay Freeman.
Fine, we'll take bets.
Sure, if Watani's there, we'll give him $700 million.
All right, Snell, like winning a Cy Young, we'll pay him.
Sure, we'll take him.
These guys were only available.
All the time, too.
Yeah, because the other teams, their teams didn't pay them and didn't keep them.
So the Dodgers are like, fine, we'll take them.
Like, no problem.
You don't want to sign these guys?
We'll take them happily.
And it's a great point.
It's not just the Dodgers outspent everyone and outpaid everyone.
The other teams are stupid and let guys walk.
How the Red Sox let Mookie Betts go is insane.
Insanity, they allow that down.
No matter what position your organization is in to let that guy walk.
Didn't he win an MVP as soon as he got to L.A.?
Yes.
They traded him, too.
That's the best part.
They traded Mookie Bets because they wouldn't pay him like $300 million.
dollars and now look what guys are getting paid right now yeah it's absurd man and then you look again
you see the report last night the tigers and terrick scuba are 250 million dollars apart in their
negotiation imagine being a fan and saying i'm going to watch this guy for the next 10 years and how
pissed you'd be if he just walks out the door right your team doesn't want to pony up and some
other team is just dying to and someone will the dodgers or the yankees someone will say we'll
give you that money what do you want 400 million dollars done how can it be 250 million dollars apart
though who's wrong in that assessment though that's the thing who's wrong in that assessment
who would have wanted that leak the agent that's a good question uh probably i guess i mean to let
everyone know he's he's terrick scubble he's going to get paid a fortune he's going to set the bar
for pitching he hits the market and then schemes when he gets there it'll recalibrate
All right, best bet's coming up, and we'll get to Deer HazyB.
We'll do that next.

Hasey, you got one today?
I do, actually, because this is an annual tradition, and I ask for you guys to help me out.
All right.
Yesterday, my wife came home with two massive boxes of Halloween candy.
Oh, no.
With a direct message, look me in the eye.
These are not for you.
Why does she bring them home this early, though?
Great question, and that's why I'm asking you.
Is it a true warning, or does she understand whatever she says?
says is completely bogus and I'm
going to blow through that stop sign anyway.
Yes, for sure. Like, what am I supposed to do?
They're not going to last the weekend.
Once I get going, it's over.
Do you give some to your kids once?
Not really. They try, like,
maybe occasionally, but for the most
part, those, it's like a
90-piece box or 150-piece
box. I don't
intend on sharing a lot.
I know your basement situation. Have you
ever grabbed the entire box and just sat
on the couch downstairs and with that
box beside you yes i have now you can't go through there's only so many you can eat in one sitting
but i have a thing around this time like halloween man i just can't stop eating these little candies
there's no limit man you know those like little welches gummies oh yeah i can grab a i used to
grab a costco box because the packets are so small there's only like four little things in them
and i would mow through a whole box yeah like a costco box dude there's a hundred packages in
there. I like the Hershey, but the white chocolate one. That's precisely what I'm murdering right now.
That is the one that I go after. And then the Reese, the cups or the little, like those are the two that I attack.
Like everything else I can, I can part with. But the Hershey white chocolate one, it's got, I mean, Oreo, I think, in it or something like that? Cookies and cream.
Cookies and creams. That's the one that I attack. And then the Reese. I love peanut butter.
I love peanut butter and so I'm with you so that one has because I was mauling it earlier this afternoon
the Hershey's cookies and cream the Reese's like little peanut butter cups the Reese's pieces little bags
which you can just you rip open in one time and O'Henry in there which I don't get down with an O'Henry a ton but this time a year man you start firing up an O'Henry one timers
yeah so I guess what I'm not getting any consultation
from you to.
It's not going to help me at all.
But I'm basically telling my wife
you're going to have to go back.
You know what you do is just
just leave those.
Go buy your own.
That's what you need to do.
Buy your own.
You're right.
Like, you know, if you're at the grocery store
or like, what is it, Uber Eats or what?
No, what is that?
Instacart.
What do you mean?
All you got to do, Jamie, is buy them the morning of Halloween
and then there's no issue.
It's so simple.
Exactly what the place should be.
Some places run out, man.
No.
Yeah, it can be difficult.
It can be difficult to find a day of.
You've got to have them day of.
I always order 500 pieces, and I put it in this giant tub, and then six people show up.
That's the problem.
And then I give some to our nanny, who's great, and she's got a son in her neighborhood.
And then, you know, I just, we eat the rest over, basically, we run out in April, but there's Christmas candy in that.
there still that's the problem can but my thing is i get to like november 5th and i'm like i can't do
this anymore no i got to stop it's disgusting after like three weeks of gorging anyway yeah all right
i don't know what kind of advice you just gave me but thank you just buy your own that's yes
you have anything else for us here quickly or well honestly i i just love i love the halloween candy
that's yes it's the biggest thing but are you a guy that gives out the full bars not a full bar guy
but there are multiple neighbors around me,
which basically the whole neighborhood goes there.
Then they come over to my spot,
and they're like, great, thanks.
You know, kids get spoiled with those.
Can we show the picture quickly before we get out of here?
Did you see Vince McMahon and his new hairstyle?
Post it up on TV, please, if you can.
Look at this guy.
Looks like a skunk.
Yes.
Why would he want the middle white like that?
Or is that on purpose, or I don't,
get it yeah i mean it's died that way it's the reverse polly walnuts remember polly used to have the wings
like that and it'd be dark up top but i believe that was a courtroom he was walking into and that's
what he looks like it you know what it is though he put the jim benning on the side that's it the white
is his real hair because he's old isn't he like 70 years old close to 80 now i think if not 80 so
the white is his real hair he did the jimmy bending on the sides right that's what
man he looks awful he's he's he's remember he had that little mustache for a while dude that doesn't
even look like him period that looks like a like a character out of a batman movie like that doesn't
look like him he's had plastic surgery too for sure man he's done i think peds and everything like
