Hello everybody and welcome back to the podcast with Matt and Tommy.
Welcome along.
It is our very first F1 to 10 series episode.
And today we are going to go through all of the car launch cars.
I wanted a different liveries.
That's a better word, isn't it, Tommy?
And to essentially rate them all from one to 10.
Are we going to go, I guess, does that mean?
now we can't go with zero. One is the minimum. We haven't thought this one through, have we?
We are doing it live on the podcast slash episode right now. But no, I think one is the lowest.
Yeah, I think it has been. It's just going to be straight up. Wow. No half measures and no zeros.
Exciting times. Indeed. Yeah, we've, we missed the first four cars, didn't we? So I know a lot of people
messaged us because we've done the kind of reactions to each of the car launches, but we missed the first four.
And a few people are like, oh, I really want to know what you guys think.
So here you go.
This is for you, the three people that asked for this.
No, it should be good.
It would be good to go through them all.
And now we've had time to digest it as well, haven't we?
We've had time to really soak in every angle of all the cars.
And then now people will go, but you said, you said you didn't like it a few days ago.
How dare you change your opinion?
Because we've seen them on track as well, a few of them now,
because they've done their shakedowns.
And we've said this so many times we say it every year,
a lot of renders can look very different
to what they look in in real life when they hit the track.
Very, very true.
Now, before we dive into our ratings,
we're going to start by reading out a five-star review
because you lovely people have been rating us
and the majority have been five-star.
So thank you so much for that.
And we're going to keep it a running thing
that if you do give us a five-star review,
we will pick one to read out at the top of every single.
single podcast. So thank you so much for all of the love and support you've been giving. Please
continue because it helps us grow and to succeed and to allow Grace to have meals, three meals a day,
breakfast, lunch and dinner. She is going to be one healthy girl. Anyway, Marco Minis F1 with their five-star
review. I'm so happy to have you back in my ears. I love F1 and I've been listening to you for years.
Is this a poem? It's like having virtual friends who share my same passion. Can't wait to see what you'll
bring to P1 now that you're unleashed. Oh, I like that word. We've been unleashed, Tommy.
We have. Exactly. Off the absolute rails. Here we go then. Let's start in the order of which
the car launches came, as we did miss a few of them, as Tommy said. So let's go with Hass. I'm going
to start, but we're going to alternate Tommy, right, so that I don't grate every single time
first because I want to see if I, because you are a livery designer and I feel like my opinion
might be wrong.
So I might be able to change it
if I'm completely off the mark.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
You can't be wrong
with opinions of car launches and liveries.
It's quite what Twitter says.
I know, right.
Yeah, opinions.
Anyway, Hasse, here we go.
I have rated the Hasse
a six out of 10.
Now, it was going to be an 8 out of 10,
but then everyone released a carbon car.
And it became less special,
very quickly. Now, I do like the fact that it's quite simplistic. The black and the white go
quite well together. The Money Graham thing doesn't look too out of place, in my opinion.
Then you've got the red wheel inlet thing in my bobs, whatever you call them.
Yeah, what, it covers. Covers.
In covers, things. Yeah. You know what? I'm going to go seven, actually, because I think six
is a bit harsh. Seven out of ten for Haas, because it is, it's slick, it's nice. And I really like
the side angle. But as I say, now taking into account all ten of the car.
the whole black carbon thing really ain't that special.
So I've gone for five out of ten.
Ooh, all right.
That's six out of ten for me.
Yeah, when it was first launched, always when you get a new livery, it's a bit exciting.
But the more I saw it, the more I kind of felt like it was a bit bland maybe.
It's kind of like the old Renault in the way, if you remember the yellow and black Renault,
it's kind of all one colour from the front
and then the side angle it looks all black
but for me they've not done it as well
and white, black and red
are just quite a boring colour scheme
when well a lot of the cars
seem to be that way
so yeah this one just hasn't really
wowed me I'm afraid has
sorry about that
wow they will be going back to the drawing board
now that they know Tom Bellingham is not a fan
of their livery
Okay, so a six out of ten for me, not a seven.
And, okay, seven out of ten, seven out of ten, seven out of me, Tom has gone for a five.
Tommy, weird calling you Tom, but it comes up as Tom on our video call and I've called you Tom.
Anyway, moving on, Red Bull.
I've gone for an eight out of ten.
It's an iconic livery.
I actually have to give them props for the fact that there is no carbon, or at least not that we can see on the livery.
They have kept the beautiful Red Bull colors, which is brilliant,
and it's one of the only cars that have actually decided to do that.
Will it cost them time?
That's a question that will have to.
Maybe they'll put it down to the livery is the problem why they didn't win the
2020-23 World Championship because Charles Lecler came through and won it at the last race.
But realistically, it's a really nice looking car.
It's legendary.
We went to the Red Bull factory, to be fair, yesterday, and we saw the amazing cars,
and it does look very cool, the fact they've all got the same kind.
of iconic livery. So I can understand why they don't change it too much as much as we all as fans
plead for something different. They sometimes tease us with camo liveries for testing and shakedowns
and stuff like that. But you can't hate on it. It is a very nice livery. Yeah, they did a weird.
They had that guy that did like a doodle livery this year, didn't they? Which confused a lot of people
when Red Bull tweeted a plain white car and went, time to, like it's a blank, blank page or something.
I have gone for eight out of 10 as well.
It's always been like a nine,
10 out of 10 for me, this car.
But I do think it's getting a little messy with the sponsors of,
I don't think it looks as cool when you've got like the buy bit on the rear wing
and the Oracle on the side.
It looked better when you had like the Red Bull logo itself
because it really popped.
But like you say, ironically,
even though a lot of people when they think the Red Bull logo,
ball livery they think boring.
It's actually probably going to be the opposite this year because the yellow will
actually look, will be like a unique color that will stand out quite a lot.
And yeah, when we went to the factory and you saw all the cars, the yellow and the red are
actually almost day glow kind of color.
And it's nice to have those kind of bright colors on the grid.
And yeah, just nice to see a fully painted car, whether that's a bad thing,
because it's going to slow them down,
or if it's ominous for the other teams
that Red Bull don't need to worry about weight saving,
we shall find out,
like you say,
when either Max Verstappen or Charlerc is 40 seconds down the road.
Yeah,
that's all down to the really heavy paints
that they've decided to buy down the...
Well, you think so,
based on how much the teams have gone absolutely crazy for it,
but every second guess.
I can only imagine how their chats with sponsors went,
where it's like,
this car is not going to look,
very good.
I mean, your sponsor is still going to be on there, but we're kind of going with all black,
despite, you know, how heavily they push their brand and whatever, you know, the fact that
they are willing to sacrifice some of that for probably an absolute millisecond of performance
is, just shows how some teams are desperate.
Let's move on now to a team that also doesn't seem to be that desperate.
Williams, they, they didn't go for a huge amount of black either, which, to be fair to them,
is it because they just have decided 10th places where they belong?
They may as well look good whilst they're doing it.
You know?
I do actually really like the juror sale on the top of the car.
So I have gone for an 8 out of 10.
I think it looks like a really, really good-looking car now, to be fair,
considering a few years ago, Tommy was basically crowning Williams
with the worst livery ever made to now move into a car that I think is actually very good-looking.
and I think 8 out of 10, maybe it's stretching towards a 9, but I can't go for halves.
So I'm going to go with an 8 out of 10.
It's a step up, I would say.
Let's hope it's actually quicker.
And I am absolutely convinced that is not what the car will look like come the end of the season
when they realize that they are a second off the pace.
But there's no hate towards Williams.
We just think they're going to be the slowest.
But then, you know, if they strip some of the paint back, have some good Alex album performances,
maybe they won't finish 10th.
But they haven't finished last in the livery rankings.
for sure.
Three cars into this F1 to 10 series.
I thought you're going to say three out of 10.
No, no.
I thought we're about to pop off here.
No, three cars into the F1 to 10 series and we're already really wishing we could do half grades.
But I agree.
It's difficult when you've only got 10 is clearly not enough numbers.
But I've also gone 8 out of 10.
It's, I like it.
I like it a lot.
And yes, I did think a couple of years ago it was the worst delivery.
and I still believe it's the worst livery
that we've ever seen in Formula One.
However, this one, I think is really nice.
They've kind of tweaked it a little bit from last year,
smartened it up.
The Jura cell thing is just genius.
A lot of people will be shouting going,
oh, it was there last year in the US Grand Prix,
and yes, we know,
but it looks like they're going to have it for the full season now,
which is really cool,
because that is some big brain thinking
to turn the kind of airbox.
into a battery. You just mentioned earlier about the fact that sponsors don't really get their
money's worth now when all the paints being scratched off and I'm sure, you know, skipping
ahead to like BWT with Alpine that want the entire car pink and no black on it at all for their
money, but the fact that Duracel have got essentially what looks like a battery on the top is very cool.
And it helps that part of their branding is black as well.
It does. That's very true.
They can help with that.
But I do worry because it happened last year that by the end of the season, most of that blue will be gone.
And I really hope that's not the case because it is, again, nice to see a painted car.
So yeah, eight out of ten. Well done, Williams.
Yeah, I think Williams have to just make their minds up, right?
If they're a tenth behind the pack and trying to get every marginal gain, yeah, scratch it off, get some points, do it.
But if you're half a second off, just keep it on and look good.
Just look good when you get, you know, lapped, you know,
because we will be looking at the leaders at some point.
Anyway, that's enough disrespect.
We love Williams, really.
But we'll see how they do this year.
Let's move on now to Alfa Romeo.
10 out of 10, sex on wheels.
Moving on.
No, I think realistically, I was in love with it when it came out,
and I do like the simplistic way they've done it.
And red and black,
I think genuinely, I think the whole carbon thing's got to me
because when I did first see it,
I was absolutely in love with it,
and I still am.
I still really, really like it.
I think it deserves a nine out of ten.
I like the red on the inside of the wheels again.
Looks really good.
Yeah, it's,
when you actually just look at the colours
and you just put it to the side
that every other car is going this way,
you look at it and you go, yeah, that's sexy.
So nine out of ten, locked in, confirmed.
Okay, interesting. Yeah, I've also gone for nine out of ten.
Oh, wow. I promise I haven't got access to your ratios.
The thing with the alpha is basically last year's livery with all the white scratched off.
But it looks really, really nice.
Maybe we'll look a bit like a Ferrari on track, whether it will be on the same part of the track as a Ferrari.
I hope not because it probably means that the Ferrari is not very good.
Exactly.
So it is difficult this year because I'm trying to rate them based on just looking at them
and not pretending the grid and how it's going to look on the grid and give extra points.
But there is always that bit in the back of my mind that's going,
it was cooler when it was released and we'd only had four cars.
and, you know, seven of the 10 weren't all black.
But it does look very, very nice indeed.
And, yeah, awesome, awesome way.
It's just clean.
It just shows that a simple, a nice, slick, simple livery can be the way to go.
And I think that's exactly what Alpha have done.
They've not done anything too complicated with it.
I guess this is probably a good time to address this whole carbon situation that's going on.
I did mention it on our Twitch stream, Matt P1 Tommy.
But yeah, I think it's, it is a problem because obviously all these cars are going that way
and it does seem as though it is lacking or causing a lack of creativity with some teams.
That's not to say it hasn't worked with other teams.
Alpha Romeo has worked really, really well.
Mercedes also has worked incredibly well.
In fact, that's my favourite livery and we'll get on to that.
Spoiler.
It's just literally stickers.
But either all, like it can work for some teams.
other teams where they've never even gone anywhere near this kind of design and they're Alpine,
for example, there is clearly a problem there because they're trying to satisfy sponsors that
have colours that just don't go with what this whole weight saving procedure is causing.
So I do wonder if there will be a step in. Like just a little 500 grams, paint what you want,
but you have to paint it and then people won't paint it black.
Yeah. You know what I mean? I feel like it sounds like a joke, but genuinely speaking, that could be
the way forward where there is a paint allowance where we can have the colourful more vibrant liveries.
Not to say that I wouldn't want a black Mercedes because I would.
And I actually do really like the alpha-o-mao and the way the black and red goes.
But for others, where they just haven't merged the colours properly, just looks very skewif and a bit unappetising.
And I think it's a shame as well that, yeah, all the teams feel like they need to do it.
So they're kind of, it would just get to the point where all the teams lose their brand identity.
And you don't get that, you know, as a massive livery nerd that I am, like looking at the full grid on the starting grid.
You kind of, I remember, think back to 2019, you had the yellow Renault, the orange McLaren, the pink racing point.
That was awesome.
And you could, each car had its own unique thing.
Whereas I'm kind of picturing in my head how this grid's going to look when they're all parked up on the grid spots in Bahrain.
and probably only the McLaren and the pink,
pink, what are they called?
Alpine.
Every time I said pink, every time I said pink,
or the pink Alpine, the pink Alpine,
are the two that are probably only going to stand out.
And it would be a shame.
And it does feel like if they don't do something soon,
one by the end of the year,
we're going to have every car
that would end up just being black
with maybe like a tiny stripe just to distinguish what they are.
And that would be a big shame.
We don't want to see that.
It certainly would.
Let's move on now to Alpha Tauri.
I feel bad because we've just been talking about,
oh, you know, we want more vibrant liveries
or for teams to take a bit of a gamble
or be a bit more creative with the liveries.
Alpha Tauri haven't gone full black
and I absolutely despise it.
It's probably my worst, my least favorite livery on the grid for me.
Alpha Tauri gets a four out of ten.
I feel like it's such a downgrade with the red.
If anything, it might have been better just not to put red.
But of course, it's Orlin.
And they want their colours to be all over the car as well, considering they're a sponsor.
But for me, the Alpha Tauri from a few years ago was amazing.
I really loved the way that they kind of integrate all the colors and the way that the car was presented.
But now, just not a fan, the front angle still haunts me to this day.
when like it I don't know it's just it's just not for me
that's not to say I don't think it's actually for many people
from what I've seen online but I'm yeah locking in the four out of ten
yeah I'm this is difficult because
the renders I think are absolutely horrible
to be fairly honest and I do think Alfa Tauri
have maybe been a victim here of how good deliveries have been in the past
but I have gone, oh, I want to change my mind.
Do I like it more than the, it's about the same as the has for me, I think.
Maybe.
Yeah, I'm going to go five out of ten.
I think the Aulin looks on the renders very overpowering.
I don't think it would look as bad in real life from the one picture that they've shown of a show.
car that they had in New York.
But I think the Alfatari liverys have been so good in the past.
I think that's what made it so disappointing.
The first one they released was amazing.
The second one they released was made.
The last year was really good.
And this one, it just doesn't work for me.
The nose in particular being all white, which can hear.
It's not all right.
It's not all right.
And everyone going, oh, you said you wanted the cars painted.
But not badly.
And this one has not been paying badly.
And it just looks a bit messy, the fact that you can tell that they had this,
the first time they did it, it looked really slick.
The Alphatari, they obviously this fashion brand.
And the car was just beautiful.
And they thought about, you know, the matte finish and just blue and white,
simple colors.
And now it's getting like you've got the orange from flex.
box. You've got the red from Orlin, which I don't know why. Well, I do know why because
Orlin will have paid a lot of money for it. But if you think to when the Alphateri looked really
cool when they had that red Honda logo on the car, if they'd have just done it in white and made
the Allan red, I think it would have looked a lot nicer. But Orland will have paid a lot of money
to be on that car. And they want to stick some garish red billboard.
and completely destroy the livery for commercial gains,
which how dare they?
How dare they pay millions of pounds?
And then decide to go white on red, which is not their colours.
They'd rather have their red on white.
Change it, change it right now, because Tom Bellingham said so.
Well, yeah, it's not a great livery.
And to be fair, it will stand out, but probably for the wrong reasons.
Okay, we move on now to MacLam.
I am going to go for a seven out of ten.
It's grown on me a little bit since the launch.
There is a lot of carbon on there,
but I'm actually starting to like the way it's integrated
as opposed to some of the other cars.
I feel like the other team's doing a worse job
has actually made me like the McLaren a little bit more.
And as you say earlier,
when they're on the grid,
you're still going to notice that as a McLaren.
It's got the vibrant orange papaya.
And yeah, I actually don't mind it.
I don't mind it at all.
Some people think the chrome wheels are absolutely horrendous,
but I actually quite like them.
I think they're really cool innovation
and the way which they've done that is similar to the juror sale kind of thing for me.
But yeah, seven out of ten.
I'm going to go six for the McLaren just based on.
And this is a grade that's a lot better than what I thought it was last year.
I think they've smartened the car up quite a lot, which wasn't difficult because I thought it was hideous last year.
The orange, they've changed a bit.
They had that really weird, it was like really flat colour and it didn't really stand out.
It was almost like a fluorescent colour.
And then when it, in daylight, it just looked terrible.
And they've just kind of neatened it up overall.
So I think it's, I want to say like six and a half, but I can't.
go with six based on the others.
The thing that annoys me is the blue.
I don't really understand why they're still going with the light blue because that was
a nod to the golf livery.
And they're not even sponsored by golf anymore.
Golf sponsor William.
So that for me is really odd.
And then the fact that they've gone with that colour.
And I, like you, think the chrome wheels are actually a bit of fun.
But for me, the light blue just throws in another colour, whereas if it was just orange
and black, then the chrome wheels would be multicolored and it would stand that different.
But I don't really like the light blue additions.
I think they need to get rid of that.
And maybe they will when they realise their car is slow and they need to scratch some paint off.
Here's hoping.
I actually prefer the last year when they did the Singapore and they made it pink.
That was quite cool.
But the blue is not for me, so a six.
Okay, dokey.
We now move to Aston Martin.
Now, I want to apologise to Aston Martin because I was upset that they hyped up a new car for so long during a car launch, only to reveal pretty much the same car.
However, I have now come to decide that there was nothing to change on the Aston Martin, and it is just complete an utter filth.
Now, filth is good for those that don't understand what I'm going with here.
a little bit like sick is in our English language.
But it's a 10 out of 10.
I roasted it for not changing the livery,
but I just look at it and it is just unreal.
There's not a lot of black at all, very much hidden.
And I appreciate that Aston Martin have gone this way.
Now, again, I think Fernando Alonzo will get his sort of scratching tool out
and do it himself if the Aston Martin is getting knocked out in Q1.
But no, 10 out of 10, straight up.
Well done, Aston.
You didn't need to change anything.
And I'm sorry for getting angry at you at the car launch
because you hyped up at the same car.
I've gone for nine out of ten just because it's a little bit of a,
oh, is it a bit of a downgrade from last year?
Maybe.
I think they got rid of a tiny bit of the electric yellow or whatever you'd call it,
the AMR green.
So this is where you as sort of livery nerd slash expert comes in.
And I'm just saying like, it's the same.
and you're like,
well, actually,
they've changed the pastel color there
from just slightly right on the Photoshop
a little palette that you have.
Yeah.
But the,
it is really nice.
They've pretty much kept it.
From like just looking at it.
Give it 10.
No, no.
I can't give it 10 because it's not,
I need to save 10 for later.
But it's,
it is really nice.
And the fact that, yeah,
they've kept a lot of the green.
They've actually been quite clever with it because there is carbon,
but it's hidden sort of tucked away in the side pods where you're not really going to see it.
So well done to them.
And hopefully there's not too much of that paint scratched off because it is a really nice color.
It's nice to have that unique, a unique color on the grid in that bright green.
And they bright green, whatever you want to call it, British Racing green,
but a lot nicer than the first iteration that they had in 2021.
on. So yeah, well done, Aston. Well done, Aston. Congratulations. A nine and a 10 out of 10. We now move to Ferrari. And I'm
wearing Ferrari kind of colours. And I've had some time to calm down after that incredible car launch.
And I've knocked off a rating or two on this Ferrari. I'm giving it an eight out of 10.
I feel like during the car launch, complete Ferrari fan boy. I was lost in the emotional. I was lost in the
emotion of the grandstand.
And I love anything Ferrari.
And that red will always, always have a kind spot and a warm place in my heart.
However, the more and more I look at the car and from certain angles, the carbon just looks
a bit rubbish.
And like the side profile, it's not for me.
And I'm, yeah, that's what's taken a couple of ratings off.
And of course, they've done it purely because they want to gain some performance.
and also have the identity of Ferrari there, which it certainly is.
But there's just on the side, there's like a random blotch of carbon, which, again, just seems
a little bit out of place.
I'm not a massive fan of the black on the rear fin either.
I love the fact they have Ferrari on the rear wing.
What that says about their sponsors, I don't know, because usually you would have a sponsor
on there, and I don't feel like they would have, from a business perspective, decided that
they wanted Ferrari on the rear wing, considering how much money that could.
have brought in. But yeah, it's not the sexiest Ferrari I've ever seen. Thank you for putting it out
on track. Yes, I did call it sexy then. It is still like attractive, but it's an eight out of ten.
I think you wouldn't care if it was a one out of ten if it delivers Charlotte Clare the title,
would you? Could not give a damn. I've gone for a nine out of ten. My reasoning for this is that
I gave it, I think it would, I think I gave it a 10 out of 10 last year.
And I would knock off a point for the carbon.
The thing I really don't like is the side view where it's the Sarah.
I don't know how you pronounce it.
Yeah, CVA is.
Yeah, next to the shell logo, they've cut a bit of carbon over that.
And I just, I don't really like that.
That unfortunately does, it doesn't ruin it.
but from that some angles, I'm like, I really wish that wasn't there.
But then points added on for the Ferrari on the rear wing because that looks really cool.
And I do miss last year what made it so good for me is they'd kind of gone back to the old school Ferrari deep red from like the old school days,
whereas this is a bit more of a brighter, dare I say, Marlborough red.
of those kind of Ferraris, which I don't like as much,
but it's still a banger.
I mean, for me, it's like an 8 out of 10 from the side
and a 10 out of 10 from the front.
And I don't think it's any coincidence
that when I was looking for pictures of it,
I went on the Ferrari Twitter,
and all the pictures they're showing is from the front angle.
So they probably know themselves that they're not best pleased
with how it looks from the side
with all the carbon cutouts.
But then if they're quick,
who cares?
Yes, exactly.
I don't care.
It's a 10 out of 10
if it wins the championship
and I will go back
and change it.
I'll actually go,
I will paint it myself,
put the rest of the red on
if they win the world championship this year.
Okay, well done, Ferrari.
We now move to Mercedes.
The controversial topic of carbon
is here.
I have gone for a 10 out of 10
and I'm staying,
sticking with a 10 out of 10
because Mercedes
have been.
been black previously. They looked incredible then. They bring back the black, and it's incredible now.
They make the carbon work. Everything about it just looks so, so good. Hamilton's helmet pops out
of the whole design, and you've got the numbers as well. It just works. Now, that's not to say that
the carbon problem doesn't exist, because I've seen a few people going, well, Matt, how can you not love,
how do you hate carbon but then love the Mercedes?
It's like, well, this is a particular use case of the carbon and it works really well.
I'd say also it works quite well with the Alpha Romeo.
The other cars don't work at all, in my opinion, or at least have downgraded their liveries
somewhat.
But the Mercedes just works as black.
It does.
It's signified amazing things previously when they did it.
And now it does that.
And it also looks back at their legacy slightly and they've got loads of storylines around it.
but it just looks really good,
and it suits their car so well, 10 out of 10.
I don't care what you say.
I'm also going to be a massive hypocrite
and say 10 out of 10 because it looks banging.
And this is the thing.
If it was, I agree, people going,
oh, how can you like it if you don't like the carbon?
But because it's all black and it's built around the car,
like the livery is built around the black and the carbon.
What I don't like about the carbon is when it eats into the other livery.
So, you know, Ferrari, we want the body to be red, but it's eating into that with the bits of carbon.
Same with McLaren, same with the Alpine and stuff.
But the Mercedes, they've just done a really good job and they've essentially gone, let's bring back the black and have the carbon.
and it just works so well.
And it's even better for me.
I love the black Mercedes more than the silver one anyway.
And this one is just even better
because they've got rid of the Inios red.
They've just got a tiny bit on the airbox
without having the big ugly kind of cover over the red.
And it just looks awesome.
And it's the little details as well.
The only thing I change is on,
George Russell's version.
I don't really understand
why they've gone bright green.
It doesn't really match his helmet,
whereas I really like the way...
When I look at Hamilton in that car,
it just looks so damn good.
It's like the helmet design
just pops so well.
And then you've got the electric yellow
of his like numbers and stuff as well.
It's epic.
I love it.
And I don't care that it's carbon.
Take down the max for
staff and Kate from behind as well.
Got, Max only just signed
your onesie and you are
proper Team LH after seeing one picture.
We love to see it.
But no, it is a 10 out of 10.
And yeah, you just look at it.
You just got to look at it.
It looks even better on track as well, right?
I think.
Some people argue that it's just stickers on a car.
It's really not.
Like, it's not just stickers on a piece of carbon.
Like, they've really worked to make it look good.
And I probably appreciate that.
But also, simple livery's work.
Or a lot of the icons,
onic liveries of the past are very, very simple.
In fact, if you look at all the ones we've rated a lot,
they're pretty much the most simple block colour livery is out there.
So I think that says a lot.
Speaking of simple liveries, oh wait, no, we're on to Alpine.
And they have gone for two liveries.
They went for Alpine pink and Alpine Blue.
The BWT sponsorship kicking in with full force for the first three races of the season
with the full pink livery, which is what I wish.
They were running the entire season.
For this one, I am going to rate it a seven out of ten.
I quite like it.
I'm not in love with it.
I feel like the black still kind of takes over the car a bit too much.
I really enjoyed it when it was fully pink like they had previously.
But it works better because there's just two main colours.
Of course, you've got a bit of the blue as well from the BWT,
but primarily it is pink and black.
So, yeah, that's the reason.
reason why I wish it was the main livery, because as you can imagine, the Alpine blue one,
I've gone for slightly lower.
I've gone for an eight out of ten for the Alpine pink.
I loved the racing point.
I think we'll look back on it one day, particularly the fact that Sergio Perez won in it
is going to be one of those kind of, oh, remember, remember that car, such a unique
colour scheme.
And I much prefer the pink Alpine spoiler alert to the next.
grade but it looks it works a lot better pink and pink and black still um taking a lot of the
the black into it um but it works better with the pink and i will miss it after the first three
races when they go back to the normal one and i'm sure the CEO of bwt will as well yeah they
really will uh i wonder how much they're paying to how literally overhaul the car for the first
three races.
Like, that's mad.
Just don't hear of that, do you?
No.
Let's move on to Alpine Blue then, shall we?
The main livery for the rest of the season after the first three rounds.
I have gone for a four out of ten.
Yeah, it kind of speaks for itself that grade.
I just feel like it's really misplaced.
The carbon genuinely looks like it's a virus infecting the car, as I said on Twitch.
Matt P1, Tommy, even if it follows already.
And it just, it took enough of an adjustment phase for me,
for just the blue and the pink
when they first introduced that.
I was like, right, and by the end of it,
I got used to it.
I was like, okay, no worries.
This just looks unfinished.
And I don't like it, unfortunately.
I'm sorry, Alpine.
Even like the blue nose
and then the actual front wing, which is pink,
it just doesn't make sense in my brain.
And I'm not a livery expert by any stretch,
but hey, I have eyes and there's my opinion.
I've gone for a six out of ten
I think just
maybe the fact that there is a bit of colour on there
is just bumping it up a little bit
from things like the Haas
that I just think are a bit uninspiring
but it is just a shame that
the black is absorbing it
again we've said this so much
with so many liveries
because I think it got neatened up
by the fact that they've lost
a bit of the red on there, which I think made it a bit too busy.
But then sadly, I got used to the actual pink and blue by the end of it,
and I actually thought it looked quite cool.
But I really, I just can't stop looking at the back where the, and I think what's
worse is to have an aeropart and quite a weird car shape with that bulbous thing that
if anyone...
from the bulbous word.
Yeah, I'm trying to...
I don't know how to explain it.
It looks like, if anyone remembers, when Formula 3...
Yes.
Yeah, ages going.
It had like the rocket launcher style thing.
It looks like that.
And you're still giving it a six?
I mean, that's...
This is where I've got a question what you think six means,
because there's a lot of negative coming out.
No, but I like the...
You put some colour on it, six.
Yeah, but I think it will...
I think it does look better than last year from some angles.
I'm trying to, it's just that bit.
I think once I get used to the car shape,
I think it will maybe even push too air.
This isn't the first time that Alpine have come out with a weird car shape.
Do you remember when they had the massive air box intake?
Yeah, that was weird.
And how long that took to get used to.
So for whatever reason, they like a, as you say, bulbous part of the car.
Yeah.
So well done, Alpine.
I say well done.
I gave you a four.
Sorry.
I'm sorry in advance.
But yeah, there you go.
Right, Tommy, that is it.
We have graded the 10 car launch liveries.
How much will they change, do you reckon,
over the course of the year?
A lot.
I can imagine quite a few teams.
I think I would put a lot of money on Williams
being mainly black by the end of the season.
And I wouldn't be surprised.
Do you reckon Red Bull might start scratching some off of
if they're not winning?
Maybe.
I think Williams is definitely a shoe in for it
and maybe McLaren start to get rid of that blue.
But I won't mind.
Get rid of the blue McLaren, do it.
Save some way.
Good stuff. Tommy, final thoughts?
Testing soon.
Yay.
I could hear Grace screaming in the background.
So thanks Grace as well for your final thought.
There you go then.
