Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 podcast.
It's British Grand Prix Week.
It's Silverstone.
It's me and Tommy seeing it in real life.
Cannot wait.
I'm absolutely buzzing.
Thomas James Bellingham.
You're wearing your England football shirt, which I'm not sure.
Is that to get?
Just because it's the British Grand Prix.
Why not?
And they are playing, I suppose, aren't they England as well?
On the Sunday or Saturday?
Either or who cares about football?
We're here for Formula One and it's a sprint weekend.
No, it's not.
It's not a sprint weekend.
Why does it say that?
You are such a wrong burgundy.
Well, no, but I just saw that and I was like, I knew for, I knew, I said it out loud.
And I was like, no, it's not immediately.
That wasn't even a deliberate test.
I just copied the last sheet and then I was like, oh, he won't read that out.
And then I remembered you are wrongedrygandy.
I just, I just had a little glance.
And I was like, no, it's not the sprint weekend.
It is a normal weekend, Tommy.
Any other sort of minds in this sheet that you might.
want to just prepare me for? Hang on, let me add this. They, they're racing the track backwards
this year. Okay. And if I write stuff, does that mean I also? Charle-le-le-cler will win everything.
Perfect. Right. Tommy, how excited are you for the fact we're going to be on the main stage on Sunday
at 11am? And we need every single one of you that's coming to the British Grand Prix to come and say hello to
us and watch and all that sort of stuff.
Indeed.
Last year was unbelievable, one of the, genuinely one of the great moments of my life.
Like, I cannot believe that happened.
You're not meeting me?
You were there.
We were holding each other.
We were holding each other.
Yeah.
I'll never forget, like, well, how nervous I was for a start and then getting onto that
stage, expecting three people, and then just seeing, seeing the, like, well,
Just so many people and feeling like we were like headlining Glastro and Breastonbury as something is absolutely unbelievable.
Now I know we have Biggest Good Surprise for the predictions, but my biggest good surprise was when you just dropped Justin Bieber Baby.
Like you just went to the middle of that stage, didn't you, and just started singing.
Yeah, yeah.
Honestly, that's why you need to turn up.
You don't know what Tommy will do this time.
Maybe whips out his birthday suit.
Let's see.
Right, let's get into Biggest Good Surprise.
Oh, there's a fan base that ain't going to like me.
this week.
McLaren!
Yes, I think for the first time,
I'm going for a team.
I'm going for Doublete points.
I am, let's see,
if I put all my eggs in one basket,
but McLaren were amazing last year
at Silverstone.
They didn't even have the form
that they're having now in Formula One,
so I think something very lovely
is coming in the form of McLaren
this weekend.
Interesting, because this is
race that everyone will say McLaren are going to be good at. So we're taught, well, we'll get into
it when it happens and we find out. But yeah, it feels like it's going to have to be like,
they're so hyped now. It's got to be a win or a double podium or something. So interesting.
Well, yeah, well, let's see what happens. Let's see what happens. Biggest good surprise.
I've gone for a completely rogue random choice this week. And it is Valtrow Botas.
Oh my God. That's mad that you've gone for that because I was literally like, because I was so close.
to putting Botas as my biggest surprise.
I don't know why.
It's not even a low grip track.
But I just think the Bottas is going to turn up
and finish a solid P-13.
We're all going to go,
congratulations, Bottas.
Yeah, mine's kind of opposite to yours
where, like, your biggest good surprise,
they have to finish really high
because the expectation is very high.
And Bottas in the neon wheelie bin
has to basically finish 15th
for it to be a good surprise now.
So, no, no, no, I'm bantering, of course.
but yeah, I feel like Bottas could do something
which anything is a good surprise in that stake now.
Certainly is. Okay, interesting. We both had a feeling about Bottas.
Biggest flop!
Okay, he's off the back of a very good weekend. So it's Kevin Magnuson.
He's going to have a bad weekend. He's going to go back to the old K-Mag
after a nine out of ten that I gave him in driver ratings.
I feel as though he'll take that on board and go, right,
I can drive freely now again.
And I don't know.
Just vibes, in it?
Biggest flop vibes,
which has been very, very profitable for me this year.
And KMAG is off the back of a great result,
which means just a little,
whoops, little wheel bang, and I'm game on.
Biggest flop.
Don't you dare.
Don't you dare.
Don't you dare.
I could see your eyes.
Is it what I think it is?
Maybe.
No.
Maybe.
No.
No, no, no, no, I don't think it is.
Well, you know there's only one driver that I'd react like that to.
Okay, no, it's not.
Actually, no, please, because your flop's useless.
Well, this is maybe what I'm going for here.
I've gone for Lando Norris.
And that is because I think the expectation is absolutely insane this weekend.
He has basically, in my opinion, had a race-winning car for the last.
Goodness knows how many races now.
There is so much hype around McLean.
The pressure will be absolutely immense.
just come off the back of the collision with Max Stappen.
Yeah, so that is my thinking behind it,
that the pressure will be so on Lando.
I hope he can deliver, you know, for the record,
we say it so many times,
it's not what we want to happen,
it's just a prediction, so calm down.
But, yeah, Lando.
Salty Max fan wants Lando to be biggest flopper britts.
Let's spin it that way, why not?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I did enjoy getting called British bias
when I was wearing a Netherlands shirt in those social clips.
Our two favourite drivers both not being British as well.
Yeah, exactly.
But I, yeah, I don't see McLaren being mediocre.
Like, I feel like it goes one of two ways
where there is a really another drama bomb like the last race.
or they are absolutely rapid.
Like I think we all in our heads feel like this is your track McLaren.
You have to deliver.
But in that, the pressure is so immense.
Speaking of drama, I don't know why it made me think of it.
But did you see that I think it was a post from F1 troll that had a edit of,
you know, Silverstone, 2021, Cop's Corner, but they'd made it so it's a McLaren and a
Oh, and it said it was Hamleton whispering.
And that liked it.
What?
Really?
That is what I saw on social media.
I have yet to fully confirm it,
but that's something that was going round
that he had liked that photo,
which was a little bit of adding fuel to the fire there.
But either all.
We move on now to poll position.
Lando Norris.
So forget your biggest flop.
I think it's going to be a pole position for Lando Norris.
I think that McLaren will be the fastest car around here.
And we speak of expectation, we speak of pressure.
Lando is a Formula One driver.
He's got it.
I think he really enjoys it now.
I think he's in the part of his career where I don't think he'll fold
like perhaps he might have done in his first couple of seasons
where it was a little bit more tentative.
No, I think Lando will deliver.
It'll get pole position and then even more expectation for the race.
So Paul position
I have gone for Oscar Piastri
I feel like he's building some good momentum
I do think McLehram will be quick here
and yeah
I think it will be a close run thing
but if it's going to happen for Oscar anywhere
like qualifying he is rapid
and was very good last year as well
has to be said so yeah gone for Oscar
and Frank agrees
is a big fan of that Oscar Piastri prediction
okay
So both of us have come from McLaren Paul.
McLaren fans are shaking right now with how much we're backing them.
It's crazy.
Just for the record, I think we can safely say that the two points for Max for Stappen rule is now gone.
Like not going for Max is close.
It is very close.
Let's go to our top three and start in third position.
Max for Stappen will finish third at the British Grand Prix.
Yeah.
It's happening.
Maybe you can think about what would be second and first to make it a full clean house sweep for points, but it's Max Verstapp and P3.
Blimey.
I've gone for Oscar Piastri, P3.
Do I need to justify that McLaren are very quick?
Yes.
Which in your head go, oh, that's a bit harsh, but also Oscar Piastri and tyres are a bit of a struggle for them.
aren't they so um oh come on frank he doesn't agree come on frank frank is a very loud man today
he needs to we have decided to record like all our all our podcasts and things during post-delivery time
and frank is not a happy boy about it no he's not um yes so oscar piastry do you think mcclory will be
rapid but we have seen that that trend with oscar that maybe he um can struggle a little bit more
in the races than his rapid pace
but I will admit, actually,
I nearly went for Oscar first and bottled it,
but your brain kicked in.
Yeah, my brain kicked in.
Fair enough.
Okay, let's go to second place.
Oscar Piastri is second at the British Grand Prix.
He'll get that podium that he was so close to getting
last year around this circuit.
It's going to be second place for Oscar.
McLaren, they're going to be lit.
They're going to be good.
They're going to be great.
they're going to be biggest good surprising
Biggest good surprising
P2
I've gone
for
Oh he's changing on the fly
He's changing on the fly
Is he spreading his eggs
Yes I am going to spread my eggs and go
Lando Norris
P2
What a bottle job
Biggest flopped him and then put him second
That is wild
Oh dare you
Fair enough
This is how we
We're wrong. We need to keep it close.
Yeah.
I don't know how it's going to go.
I don't know how it's going to go.
Am I going to whip out my bingo card?
What more is there to say?
There is part of me.
No, there is part of me that thinks Lando and the pressure and the expectation.
If he won, oh my God, the vibes would be unreal.
Because last year at Silverstone, when he took the lead was goosebumps.
I can promise you right now, if Lando Norris wins the British Grand Prix,
all content will be delayed until Monday.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, exactly.
You've got an England game as well.
It will be rocking.
Yeah, England will.
No one will watch England because it will plummet the mood.
But, yeah, if Landau won, it would be absolutely incredible.
But I am locking in the P2 for Landau.
Okay.
In first position, Lando Norris.
It's the McLaren 1-2.
Everyone will love that.
Everybody, all the British biased P-Spe.
Paul at the Silverstone will love that.
But yes, I'm sorry McLaren fans if you double D&F.
I really am.
But it's Landowners as P1.
P1 as a biased Brit, I have gone for Max Verstappen.
Ah.
B.
Dutch bias.
I know Dutch bias here.
I do think Max, you know, he's going to have a great.
weekend, I think.
There is, I think last year I, I, maybe I flopped him, I think, because it felt like the
British crowd, there's no doubt the British crowd will be on him this weekend.
I think it's unfair to do him.
That's just fueling him.
Yeah.
But it will fuel him.
Like, he won't care.
And with a non-sprint weekend, I wonder, you know, Max is so good at fine-tuning that
car with three practice sessions.
We'll see what the weather's doing, because.
It's changing a lot, actually, it has to be said.
I'm not going to get baited into it raining.
The British weather changing.
But it's not, it's been very hot here, but now it's cooled down a lot and there is talk of rain and stuff.
As of right now, as of right this second, raining on Friday.
Saturday, sunny intervals, Sunday, light rain and a gentle breeze.
So Tommy's bold prediction will be no winters and wet.
again.
63% chance of rain for our live show at 11am.
You better turn up anyway, everybody, all right?
We'll deploy a massive umbrella.
But either or, yeah, I mean, it literally says between 11 and, I mean, 11 a.m.
till the rest of the day, there's a chance of rain right now.
God damn it.
Fernando Alonso P1.
What do you mean?
Lance Strolls are weathermaster?
How can you really
Come on, that was about 12 years ago anyway
Okay, that's it
Right, we go to one crazy prediction then
And mine is
McLaren 1-2
Is a McLaren 1-2?
Matt has one papaya basket
And all 50 papaya eggs are in that basket
Yeah, I'm either coming home
With about 15 points or none
And now that I've looked at the weather
I really want to change everything
that I've put down here, but I'm not going to, because I'm locked in. And the weather will change
another hundred times before then. But right now, yeah, there's some rain in the air. But it's
McLaren 1-2, which is a crazy prediction. I have gone for the craziest of crazy predictions,
and I'll explain why afterwards. Well, you could explain why afterwards, because you'll know
why it's crazy. I've gone for double Alpine points. And, um, I've gone, um, I'll explain why. And, um,
People are going, why is that crazy?
Well, we're actually going to be speaking to both drivers before the weekend.
And we all know what happens when we speak to racing drivers.
But I am saying that they break the curse and everyone will think,
oh, you've interviewed O'Conn and Gassley.
That's going to go wrong.
No.
Double Alpine points.
Everyone, you know, says that.
But then they forget when Carlos Sines became Ayrton Senner for about three races after we spoke to him.
So maybe Alpine one too.
You never know.
Wow.
I mean, that would be something.
We would be interviewing them every week if that happened.
Okay, Alpine double points.
Interesting.
Let's go to your three crazy predictions then.
First and foremost, Huisman 2006.
Williams get a top 10 finish.
Dan underscore Duffy 27.
Joe makes it into Q2.
Is that crazy though?
Because I'm pretty sure, you know, he commented.
No, actually, that's very crazy.
And then Kieran.
F321, Logan Sargent points.
My God.
Oh, that is crazy.
I mean, we are fully backing William.
right now in the crazy predictions from you wonderful lot.
So interesting.
Tommy, we have come to the end of our predictions.
What are your final thoughts?
Final thoughts?
Super generic and boring,
but it has to be said that I'm absolutely buzzing for the British Grand Prix,
as always, because we get to essentially go see Formula One Cars,
which is always amazing.
Meet all you wonderful people.
The support we had on the main stage last year was something that I'll never forget.
And even though it's happened once, I'm still expecting three people to turn up.
So please turn up.
We'll make it, we'll make it worth it because we've got some merch as well that we might have a bit of fun with.
We've got some merch, we'll have T-shirt cannons, we're going to do some fun things where one of you will come up on stage to challenge Tommy, which will be very, very exciting.
And there's, yeah, cool prizes for that person as well.
And yes, I'm exactly the same as you, Tommy, where I'm like, cool, loads of people turned up.
this year, but what about, last year, but what about this year?
Have they think, do they think we're washed now?
Fingers crossed not, and fingers crossed, we won't be washed as well, considering the weather.
And can't wait, it's going to be amazing.
And if you do see us, come and say hello, we love to speak to all of you.
You literally allow us to do our dream job.
So the least we can do is give some of our time to chat to some of you.
And there is Frank giving some final thoughts as well.
Frank, anything to add?
Yorn, if McLaren will win the British Grand.
Grand Prix.
Oh, I thought he was going to as well.
Oh, he was going for it.
I thought I was going to.
Frank yorne and Charlotte have a really bad weekend.
Yes.
Frank, yawn if Logan's sergeant will win the British Grand Prix.
No, he's just dialed in.
He's really dialed in.
Okay, that's it.
Audio listeners are like, did he yawn?
No, he didn't yawn.
Now he's yawning.
That Charlotte is going to win the British Grand Prix, yawn.
No, the last one was definitely Logan Sargent.
Logie Bear.
No, he didn't really yawn either.
Okay, bye everyone.
He's lost for faith.
and Loki unfortunately. That's sad.
Bye.
