Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 podcast.
Tommy's waving ferociously at the audio listeners.
But we are here to talk about another race week on our hands and another set of predictions
and another sprint weekend.
Isn't that right, Tom Bellingham?
We have got more carnage, more sessions and more might.
Miami racing.
Yeah, actually, I know there's been a lot of people taking the Mick out of a Miami sprint and it not being any good.
I do get that, but I think it could, it's definitely intriguing to see a sprint weekend on a track that takes a while to obviously rub in and don't have much racing.
So, yeah, it could be, you never know.
Could well be a banger on our hands, maybe, fingers crossed.
Just a good race around Miami would be just a six and a half out of ten around Miami would be a good start
and then anything else would be a bonus.
Right, before we get into our predictions, we have a five-star review from Vichy-20 in India.
If you want yours to be read out at some point, then please do leave us a five-star review.
Let us know why.
You love this podcast.
We read absolutely all of them and it really does help us.
This one comes in from Vichy 20, as I say.
Hey guys, big fan of your podcast, a big Ferrari fan and following F-1 since 1999.
Love you, Matt, as I'm a shumi fan boy just like you.
Now, of course, a Lecler fan.
Keep doing the great job you guys are doing.
Love that.
Vishy's done exactly the same route that I have in terms of my fandom.
So absolutely love that.
And thank you for your review.
Right, let's get into our predictions then.
And it is 16, 15 to me.
Cooking.
Turned it round in the last one, didn't you?
Yeah, last one did pretty well.
You could only get so many points from just pole position and that sort of stuff.
can't you? But here we are. 1615, still very much Michael Masseying this championship all the way down to the wire.
Let's start with biggest good surprise. I'm going to give myself a point now. It's signed sealed delivered.
This man is going to turn up in his Uber advert and score a point or two. Valtari Bottas is my biggest good surprise because Miami, low grip, a lot of track evolution.
I feel like Tommy's gone for the same driver,
and it does not matter, because I've locked it in first.
He has to change it on the fly.
Valdry Bottas, I feel as though off the back of China,
where he should have scored a point at some point during the weekend,
but unfortunately didn't.
I feel as though Miami might be the one for him.
Yeah, you absolutely called it.
I've also gone for Vardri Bottas.
And it is that logic.
Like, how could you bet against him for a track like this?
he is good around there it's a low grip track he is the goat at low grip tracks he just manages to
deliver something um and yeah it it just there is logic to this one normally sometimes it is
vibes but this this one like you say vibe vibes and logic this time uh not just not just vibes
he has always been so good at these these kind of tracks that's when he delivers the most so
I think you'd be a fool not to pick him
and that's why we've both gone for him clearly.
Very clearly.
So there you go.
We don't usually have the same prediction for a segment.
But here we are.
We now go to Biggest Flop.
God, who's it going to be now?
Right.
I am locking in.
For biggest flop,
I am 100% correct this season.
My biggest flop is.
That gets lost.
Max Verstappen.
Max Verstappen is my biggest flop.
I am willing to put everything on the line.
For the good of a Formula One.
For the good of a good race.
Max Verstappen is my biggest flop.
I'm channeling all powers.
Not because, you know, I don't want to wish any ill will on Max Verstappen,
but I also don't want him to win my 30 seconds every single Grand Prix weekend.
And I feel as though, I don't know.
There's something about this weekend.
even if he just locks up once, I'm taking that one point and I'm locking it straight in.
And of course, with the sprint, there are ways in which I could argue a biggest flop if he doesn't win both.
So let's see.
Very intriguing.
What I would say as well is just for the records to cover off a few comments that we've had on our graphic
and also obviously with your 100% biggest flop, it's not the biggest flop of the race.
It is someone that had a flop, if you like.
So we both can get a point.
We're not going to reword it.
I know, but it'd be ridiculous, wouldn't it?
If we'd have to go for the worst performance every single time.
Yeah, you'd be so difficult to get it.
Right, every single time.
Exactly.
So it's just a floppy performance, and we're not changing it
because it's been like this forever, biggest flop.
There we go.
And my biggest flop is Yuki Sanoda,
and I really hope I'm wrong because I am obviously going.
Your flops mean nothing.
Yeah, exactly.
He's going to win the race now, beat match just happen and win.
But my logic here is that I've sort of noticed, maybe it's just something I've noticed,
but on sprint weekends, I feel like sometimes he has struggled in qualifying to get the
most out of the car move when he's not had that practice time.
So that's my logic there for Yuki Snoda.
of course he had a awful weekend last week, sorry two weeks ago in the last race.
And yeah, gone for UK again.
I think it might be another difficult weekend for him, but I hope I'm wrong.
You will be wrong because you are most of the time on biggest flop.
So there you go.
Sprint shootout now.
And let me just get myself comfortable here.
My sprint shootout champion is Charlotte.
Okay.
Why?
Because I love him.
Because he will qualify well.
It's time.
It's time.
It's timed for it to get back to normal.
Okay.
It's time for Shal La Clair.
I know that he had a terrible last year around Miami and crashed in qualifying.
But this year, he's going to silence the haters.
And he's going to get sprint shootout pole position.
There was that trend, wasn't there last year where Ferrari,
just the goats in all sprint weekends and we just do a lot a lot better.
A sprint shooter I've gone for Maxfassappan.
Not gone for a risky one this time.
Yep, shock, just cashing in on your Max for Stappan predictions.
That'll do it.
Exactly.
Got to keep the title close.
I have gone for different.
I went for, I think it was science last time, but in this one, yeah, I can't see.
Particularly in qualifying, you know, they are so.
so strong this year.
So, come from Max.
Yeah.
Oh, lovely.
Great logic.
I had great logic too.
Sprint winner.
Charlotte Clare.
Charlotte Clare's winning the sprint.
Yes.
I just, come on.
I think it's the whole Adrian Nui thing to Ferrari.
In my head, I might happen already.
Yeah.
In my head, Adrian's already built the Ferrari car.
And this is, this is like two years from now.
But look, you've got to have some fun in the predictions at some point.
You know, I'm getting bored of winning here, one point ahead, so far clear that I'm putting all my eggs in Charlotte Clare's basket.
Well, remember, I think we said at the start of this year, but just to clarify if it wasn't, you do get double points if you don't go for Max and it comes in.
I'm pretty sure we've set that rule in.
Have we remembered? Has there been a time?
Well, no one's got any right yet, obviously for obvious reasons.
I'm going to get so much cash here.
Amazing.
Well, yeah, we'll see.
Sprint winner, I have gone four.
Max just happen.
Not risking the two pointer.
Tommy's going to be so clear after this weekend it's frightening.
It's 1628 to Tommy.
I'm going to regret this.
Yeah, but look, do I need to give logic?
Last race, even in the sprint when he qualified,
I say poorly, he was only fourth, but just came through the field so easily.
and he's very good at Miami
and he's very good in America as well
won seven in a row now
sorry six consecutive Grand Prix
in the US
so he's on a he's on a role
wow
great well that's making me feel fantastic
about my predictions
how long it did to the flag
comes up right
more sensibly now
poll position
shall look clear
Oh dear.
Can you imagine how clear I'll be if this is correct?
I would have secured the championship by Miami.
I'm so ready for it.
Yep, Charlotte-Clair poll position.
Thank you very much.
I know that they weren't very good last year
and Charles was actually battling a has.
But all logic out the window,
it's been a while since full delusion
and Charlotte-Clair-Pol position.
Paul position I've gone for.
Match for Stappen.
Oh, you're so boring, it's frightening.
You say that.
You've gone for...
I love how you always say it there every time I predict it.
And when you predict him, you're just like...
Oh yeah, it's fine.
Yeah, I do the odd Max Verstappan tipple.
You know what I mean?
Just don't it last week.
It didn't work.
So do I?
You've gone for a three-way Max Verstappan sprint shootout,
sprint winner pole position.
You're basically telling everyone to not watch Formula One.
No, I'm not.
We have not got to the race yet.
Oh.
Oh, you still go for Fastapimini 1.
There's no way.
Okay, cool, well done.
The guy's got poll in every single rate.
And look, this is why we've got the two-pointer in an option to give you that little risk.
And I have done it before, but this week, not in the USA.
He owns America.
He owns America.
That's quite the statement.
Also, can you imagine the excitement that I will have live on Twitch, Matt P1,
Tommy, if you don't follow us already.
If Charles does actually get any one of those three,
I will be buzzing anyway
and then be thinking about the points
I've gained on you as well.
Nice.
Let's go to our top three.
In third place, I have gone for Sergio Perez.
He, of course, got...
This was the turning point from last year
where Max caught him past him
and left him in the dust.
However, he's on a good run of form.
We haven't seen that slump,
just yet, and I think Perez will have a nice, another podium to pop in the old trophy cabinet.
Very nice. P3, I have gone for Lando Norris. He's going to be on the podium again after his
brilliant drive in China. And yeah, I have, even though it seems like he's picked up a bit of an
injury from, in the Netherlands, by the look of social media, partying a bit too hard, but he'll be back
and on the podium, IMO.
I.
What?
Why did you say that?
I don't know why I abbreviated that.
IMO.
Bro thought he was on WhatsApp.
What's going on there?
I thought I was texting, yeah.
Yeah.
I'd pay 25P for a text.
I love how you had to clarify as well.
That's your opinion.
Yes, in my opinion.
You're literally speaking out of your mouth.
Right.
So we go to second place.
Charlotte Claire.
Charlotte Claire, I just thought I'd rain it back a little bit for the top three.
I know that I said I put all legs, but I think that would be wild if I put him first place in the race as well.
So I thought I'd rain it back a little bit and pop him in P2.
Lovely, jubly.
Nice.
P2 I have gone for, I'm thinking of changing it now.
Oh.
Yeah, I'm going to change it.
I'm going to go for colour science.
Okay.
Yeah.
Why not? Let's go for Carlos in P2 in Miami. In his blue Ferrari, which definitely won't be blue, you can laugh at me when it is all blue.
Blue hub caps.
Blue hub caps. I think it's going to have a blue stripe on it. I think I've seen a lot of mock-ups of people doing the old kind of 1950s, I think it was the 50s where they protested against the Ferrari red and ran in white and blue.
I don't think it's going to be that
they'll still be red
in my opinion
and just have that
little blue on it
but looking forward to seeing that
too fair
I think that's the case as well
but we shall see
and then in first position
Max Verstappen
because I have to get at least one
I have to get one point this weekend
I was going to put the Claire P1
but no I need to stick
for Stappen in P1
just so that I get something on the board
otherwise you might well be running
home and dry
because, I mean, we haven't even, biggest good surprise, I feel like I was coming in with that one,
but you've gone for the same one as me.
And then the rest is going against Max Verstappen, basically.
So, yeah, I've really gone all in with this one.
Yeah, I've also gone for...
I've also gone for Max Verstappen P1.
I love you.
I have. What a shock.
Yeah, big bold prediction.
Like I said, he has dominated.
He's not lost a US, a race in America since 2020.
So it's been a while
and you wouldn't bet against him again
unless you're matting and went for a bigger slot.
But you've done it before.
Well, you haven't.
You've literally gone for everything match for snap in this weekend.
That's fair.
Well done.
I hope you're really happy with the money.
I really do.
We need to work out what we're going to do
in the next predictions because I'm not going to be here.
So maybe I'm just locking in an extra lead before I miss a race.
No, you still get to do the predictions, man.
I mean, I'm happily.
I'll happily, you can miss a race.
We can get Olly Behrman on the podcast, you know what I mean?
Yeah, you can fill in for you.
You do the predictions for me.
Yeah, he'd probably have more points of both of us
just after one weekend because of how little will knowledge we have.
Okay, one crazy prediction.
I am locking in that we will have at least four DNFs around Miami.
Not going to clarify whether that combines the sprint or the race
until I see the results.
So there you have it.
Nice.
My crazy prediction is that we're going to see Kevin Magnuson,
in either SQ3 or Q3 or both.
Basically, he'll make at some point in qualifying a final session.
K-Mag, wow.
K-Mag, which is a...
That's one craziest prediction, I think.
I just feel like it's a bit of a K-Mag vibe.
Maybe you just do something.
Okay.
Why not?
Why not?
That's when you push the boat out,
not the rest of the whole predictions.
Okay, and then the three crazy predictions from you,
wonderful lot. First is Dan Cattolone. Sargent in the points. Wow. Hard to believe. Alonzo back on the podium.
And Nightowl 0208, we will see a last lap overtake for the podium.
Oh, yes, please.
Yeah, we'll take that. It's like not for the win, but the podium. We'll rate it back a little bit.
This is Formula 1 in 2024 after all. So we'll go for podium. And that is about it. We are done for the predictions.
I am going to severely regret everything I have decided in this podcast,
but maybe just maybe.
You never know.
What's the weather doing?
Have we checked?
Probably nothing.
Probably not.
I can check right now.
I need to.
Miami weather.
Oh!
No, you're joking, aren't you?
Sunday scattered showers.
Is that actually?
Yeah, it's a scattered showers at the moment.
Oh, okay.
Whether that means anything in Miami,
I'm sure the locals will say that it is.
points the forecast and all that sort of stuff.
I'm pretty sure actually it does usually say that sort of stuff and then just doesn't
rain or it's so warm than it doesn't actually make it wet.
Because I'm pretty sure when we were out in Miami it was the same thing, right?
Oh yeah, I think it's been rumoured.
I think it has been rumoured every year that it's going to be a wet race and then hasn't been.
You never know.
So sorry, got excited for no reason and that is about it.
Tommy, what are your final thoughts?
Final thoughts are that excited.
to see whose power is more your biggest flop or Max Verstappen just dominating Formula One.
Well, I'm taking on the Titan. Yeah, I'm taking on the Titan. I've risked at a perfect season to take on Max Verstappen,
but I feel as though people will appreciate it, especially with being Miami. You know what I mean?
So who will come out on top? We'll have to find out. Thank you very much, everybody. See you soon. Lots of love.
Bye.
Imagine the one thing he does win is the race and that's the one time I didn't predict him to win.
Yeah, but then your more wins and pulsing would come in.
Oh, wow. I'm thinking of the long run here for the predictions.
