Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 podcast on tour.
That's right. We have not purchased green chairs.
For audio listeners, Tommy just touched me sensually.
God, that's gone strange, isn't it?
But we are in Chicago right now.
This is hence the backdrop and the slightly bodged job that we're doing right now
because Tommy, we are in the middle of our North American tour.
We've done two shows.
We've got Chicago tonight.
We've got a few more ending in Austin.
on Sunday, and we're going to get into predictions?
Absolutely, yeah.
It's still an insane thing to say.
It feels like a rock star if we weren't just chilling in a Chicago, Airbnb,
with some comfy cushions, which isn't quite the rock star life.
But maybe I'll throw the TV out the window later.
Please don't.
We would feel like rock stars if we had any talent whatsoever.
So let's get into our predictions then, shall we?
It's 45 apiece.
Michael Masseying this beautifully.
So let's dive into Biggest Good.
surprise. I have gone for
Alex Albon. Yeah. My guy
he's going to, he's seen all the slander online and he's gone
and our shows. And our shows as well. Apparently
Albon is now washed after literally a couple of races. Everyone's lost
belief in him, but I haven't. Okay. He's going to step out the
blocks in Austin and he's going to show us why he has been so highly
rated for so long. I think that Colopinto, don't get me wrong, has done an
incredible job and that's not to take away anything from him but alborn is still a very decent driver
and i believe he will have a good weekend this weekend in austin interesting uh so biggest
good surprise i've gone for louis hamilton that'll be a p20 then won't it probably um yes uh lewis last
year here i feel like he's good around austin that from memory of course got disqualified last
year. But he did very well. Before that, he did work very well before he got to disqualified.
That would be...
That was the thing where Mercedes messed up their strategy, didn't they? We were properly
losing it. Yeah, it was very close. Has run very well here in the past.
And Hamilton always brings his A game to America, so looking forward to another disqualification
and zero points for me. But no, I've gone for Lewis Hamilton. I think he's going to have a great race.
It's going to be interesting though, isn't it, with the fact that we had a sprint last year, didn't we as
well and that was the reasoning behind or one of the reasons why a lot well I hear a lot two of the
drivers himself and charles of claire got disqualified then there was talk of well what about the
other teammates and every other driver that wasn't tested as well because of the fact there was a lack
of practice so I wonder if there will be some teams that give a little bit more of a wide
birth when it comes to to that sort of thing but let's see okay biggest flop I've gone for a team
yeah I'm this confident right so off the back of
not being last in Singapore.
I've gone for Salba.
What?
I feel as though, right, neither of them finish last, okay, in Singapore.
They are going to be a Formula 2 car in Austin.
So they are going to be so far off the back.
Botas and Joe will be fighting amongst themselves,
and they will be nowhere near the rest of the field.
Okay, so.
Yeah, because you're going for, like, notoriously the worst team,
so it has to be really bad.
Yeah, but let's not, you know, let's not forget.
In Singapore, they were fantastic, uh, finishing a whopping.
if I can get the results
P15 for show Guan Yu
and P16 for Valtry Botas
They finished ahead of an Alpine
and an RB and then two DNFs
So yeah look
Let's see what happens
And we can discuss it once the results are in
But I feel as though Salbridge is going to be terrible around here
Okay
Biggest flop I have gone for Nico Hulkenberg
Another pure vibes
Q3 then
Yeah Q3 probably the greatest lap of his life
I went for KMAG last time
as biggest good surprise and he failed me
so I'm not going to back KMAG
but it's almost like a
backing of KMAG
because if he even beats Holkenberg
I'm counting that as the biggest flop for
in any session
well that's exactly
it's got like four competitive sessions
sounds very open-ended no
if it beats him in SQ1 I'm not having it
I'm sorry Mr
oh Salber
anything below 50
15 that I'm taking it.
No, I'm saying there will be last.
They'll be plumb last.
Okay, and a long way back.
I've just got the vibes that Holcombag's not going to have a good weekend.
So that's what I'm going for.
Okay.
I think a Hockenbebeg on the front row of the grid.
It is.
Let's go to Sprint Poll.
It is a sprint weekend.
We've got more predictions, more points up for grabs for both us and the drivers this weekend.
Sprint poll, I've gone for Lando Norris.
And your reasoning.
Well, my reasoning is.
I do not believe Red Bull are going to roll out a car that is going to fix all of their problems.
Yes, they've had some time off, but there's always limitations to how much you can test a car.
They don't know what upgrades are going to work and what upgrades aren't going to work.
And I feel as though McLaren will still be the strongest car.
I feel as though Austin will be a great track for them.
And Lando Norris has to win everything.
So that's what I'm thinking right now.
And he's got his whole, a little bit of a mental.
challenge with the whole
pole and not keeping it, he's going to get
pole and, well, we'll see if he keeps it
in my predictions.
Okay.
Sprint pole I have gone for.
Max for Stappen.
Yeah, I knew it. I knew it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Normally you're the delusional one with your driver,
but I'm on the Dululu train now.
I feel like Sprint Weekends is where
Max, normally when he doesn't need
to dial in the car, and he can just
come straight out of the blocks, one practice session, boom, done.
That's why I'm going for Max.
And I feel like they will fix some of their problems.
I don't necessarily think they're going to be like, you know, start of the season good.
It's crazy to think it's almost a bold prediction to put Max in P1 these days based on the form.
But I feel like he's going to bounce back and he always goes well in America as well.
So that's what I'm going for.
Interesting.
Okay.
winner
Lando Norris
The reasonings are
he's in a really
fast car
And should win
No look
I back it now
You know
One because I really want a championship
fight
And he needs to do all of this
And more
But two
Why would you bet against them
They've been great
All year long
And
It's time for Lando
To just
hush the critic
slightly
You know
Off the back of Singapore
Where he still got
Criticised
For yes
Nearly binning it
But didn't
and he won the race by over 20 seconds.
Let's see what he does in Austin.
Indeed, I am also of agreement
because I have gone for sprint winner, Lando Norris, as well.
Oh, so Max loses his pole.
I think just the McLaren is absolutely mighty.
Ever since we got back from the proper break,
not this month break,
but the official kind of shut down,
they have been unbelievable.
ball. I think, you know, they've, they could have easily won all of them. Lando could have
easily won all of them. He's won two in very dominant fashion as well. So they're going to be
very good again. And when it comes to the race, I think he's going to get the sprint W.
Oh, the W. Tommy using great terms. We'd love to see it. Okay, pole position. The main one,
the proper one. Lando Norris. It's a clean sweep.
which means I'm probably doing serious amounts of jinxing right now
so I apologise McLaren fans in advance
if none of these come in
but just copy and paste what I said for sprint pole for pole position
same for me because I've also got for Landline Norris
for poor position
the reason I've mixed it up between the two pole positions
I do think it would be close
but I think once they're a bit more dialed in
and they've had more running
McLaren will
unlock
even more pace
than they normally have
and deliver
in the kind of
proper qualifying session
for the Grand Prix
so that's why I've gone
for Lando
I mean
it's weird how
the way we started
the season was like
nice stuff in P1
do I need to explain
and now it's Lando Norris
which is really weird
to think that he's
not even leading the championship
but the car is just so good now
will the pecking
order change though. Will Ferrari? I haven't even mentioned them. Will they come out the blocks and
start winning again? Maybe. Let's see. Let's go to our top three then. In third position,
I have gone for Oscar Piastri. That was a two I put for a...
That literally was. I battled saying Charles LeCler just because, you know, I want to see it.
But Philozoic Singapore didn't really give me as much as it's a completely different track to Austin.
I'm not off the back of any kind of delusion after Singapore.
So Oscar Piastri, I think that, yeah, he'll be again very quick.
He'll be around there.
I just don't think he'll be as quick as the two that I've gone for in my top two.
Okay, P3, I am going with my biggest good surprise, Lewis Hamilton.
On the podium in Austin, I think he's going to have a very good race,
as I kind of explained in Biggest Good Surprise.
but not good enough to dethrone the top two.
Who's the top two?
Well, in my second place, Max Verstappen.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I think that, as much as I said that Red Bull won't come up the blocks
and start being the fastest car again, Max Verstappen.
I expect Red Bull to take a step forward.
I just don't think they'll overthrow McLaren.
And with Max, you know, especially last time out in Singapore,
finishing second, he clearly was, you know, getting the most out.
of that car very easily and has done for pretty much the entire season.
So I expect the same thing here this weekend.
And yeah, Max P2.
P2 I've gone for Lando Norris, mixing it up.
Yeah, I think he's going to be very, very quick around here,
but not good enough for the main victory.
Oh.
Yeah, I do think it's going to be very close the season.
I'm just so hyped to see a race again, to be honest, because the season's been so good,
and it has changed so much.
You look at the previous winners over the last six or seven races.
And even though my head and every kind of prediction, I've kind of always thought,
yeah, McLaren and McClara and McLean, they haven't done it.
So that's why I've gone for Lando P2.
Okay, well, my P1, finishing the clean sweep.
is Lando Norris.
So I'm glad you haven't gone for the same.
Otherwise, we would just be pretty much level going to the next Grand Prix weekend again.
Massing all the way to the finish.
Just do the same thing all the way to Abu Dhabi.
I echo your thoughts.
It's obviously amazing for Formula One to be back.
And I think that this kind of result that I've predicted will do us wonders once again
to go into the next five Grand Prix with two more sprints after that
to really have an amazing championship battle.
So yeah, Lando should, has to and will win in my opinion.
He won't because Maxer Stappen is going to win the US Grand Prix, which is almost a shock pick now.
Why?
Because he's not won in absolutely ages.
Spain, Spain.
Spain, Spain.
Spain, yeah.
Austria sprint.
Yeah, Austria Sprint.
Feels like far too long since we've heard the Dutch National Anthem.
And I think he's going to come back.
He'll have fixed some of the problems.
maybe not all of them.
Him personally.
Him personally.
He'll have been in the sim.
He'll have been in the sim.
On eye racing.
On I racing.
Plenty different car.
But he loves it around Austin.
And even last year,
he kind of struggled, didn't he, a little bit
in qualifying and stuff and turned it around for the race.
So that's what I'm going for again
that we're going to get.
Max just bring everything out of that car.
You know, he's done it in a few of the other
the races as well, even the last one. I was very concerned we were going to get about a seventh or eighth
place, but he finished second, albeit 20 seconds off the lead. And I'm going to stop talking before
I convince myself that it's not going to win. Good. Perfect. Let's go to our one crazy prediction.
And I've been in the kitchen for this one. I've been putting my ingredients together and I feel like,
I'm backing my biggest good surprise here, Alex Albon. And I'm saying the colipinto does
not beat Albon in either quali or race sessions. That's SQ3, Q3 and both races. Albon will beat him in every single one of them.
People won't believe this because I kind of need to show you the sheet to prove that I've not just done a reactive thing.
Because my one crazy prediction is Colopinto and the points in Albon not.
Which I'm now regretting because your biggest good surprise is normally quite good.
but I didn't know
Colapinto in the points
maybe isn't big enough
for like a bold crazy prediction
so I've gone for the fact that
he's in the points ahead of Albin
and Albin doesn't get a point
so yeah I feel like
Colapinto is going to continue his good
good form around
here and yeah it's going to be
there's so many
exciting things to look forward to for the rest of the season and you know we've got this title
but there are so many other storylines as well and that is one of them that's actually in a weird way
even though normally in Formula One the last few years when we've not had the title fight we've
had to look for other things it's easy to forget there are so many other nice little storylines and
that that is one that's going to be really interesting for the rest of the year to see how Colapinto
does because that was quite the talking point of our live shows as well it's even from from the audience
It was. We do a segment now which is new for our live shows, which is controversial opinions, where I go into the crowd and we get some controversial opinions.
And there was someone actually that said that Colopinto will score more points of the rest of this season than Carlos Sinesville, the entirety of next year.
Safe to say that was controversial and no one agreed with him.
Right. Three crazy predictions from you, wonderful lot.
Firstly, P1 Patreon member Justin F194.
both finish outside the points.
That must be a collision.
Well, that's an insane one because firstly being outside the points
and secondly finishing outside of the points.
Oh yeah, true.
That would be probably the craziest prediction we've ever had
that would come in, like for sure,
because how many times has Max actually finished
outside the top 10 hardly at all in all of his Grand Prix?
P1 Patreon LR, two or more Formula A DNFs.
Formula A being the top four teams.
So let's see, two or more.
Any DNF is a bold prediction nowadays, but Formula A, yeah, definitely.
Any collision.
And finally, Pete won patron member Longo 1996.
Lawson finishes in the points.
Of course, Liam Lawson.
Of course, yes.
Yeah, I haven't even mentioned he's in the car, obviously, after replacing Daniel Ricardo.
Finishing in the points would be quite the statement, wouldn't it?
Straight out the blocks.
It would be a big statement because it has to be said I'd be a fallen off big time.
from the start of the season when
Yuki was scoring
you know
ninth places and tenth places
in quite a lot of the races early on
Danny Rick got that amazing
P4 in Miami sprint as well
so
their
car has fallen off a lot
which is why I do think it's going to be difficult
for Lawson to actually
get a lot of points
but if he beats Sonoda
it does seem like
there's a chance for him
so yes
another debut ton
well not debut turn
a returning driver
so many driver switch
driver switches
can't keep up can you make
too much F1 so much F1
so much going on too much F1
we've had no F1 but F1 is back
finally we can talk about some
Formula 1 racing again
none of this are the BS that we have to
try and fill for four weeks god can we not have
breaks ever again oh wait we have a triple
header then another three week break than a triple header
strange scheduling as I will continue to back because why don't we all just have little two weeks
and then you know but anyway that's another conversation we've already had. Tomi what your final
thoughts? Final thoughts are looking forward to our show tonight. I love you checked your watch
just because just I'm like it's very soon and yes looking forward to that and the rest of the shows
that we're doing across America we do Canada as well and I must admit North America has lived up to
the expectation of a crowd we've owned on two shows so far but oh my word the noise the the
the whooping the cheering the waving yeah you guys have delivered big time so looking forward to
the other shows absolutely so if you are in the likes of los angeles Seattle Austin what else
those that's it then get some tickets okay we'll see you there all right sweet dreams take care
