Hello, everybody and welcome back to the P1 podcast with Matt and Tommy.
It's Race Week.
Come on, everybody.
Right.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Please.
We're here.
Finally.
I can watch cars go round tracks again.
Thank God for that, Tommy.
Look at you.
You're kitted out.
You are max on max on max.
And that sounds a strange sentence to stop.
We're about to record and you were like, get the cape on.
What are you doing?
Put the cape on.
right now.
I've got a big blank bit on my wall, but it doesn't matter.
Matt, it's fine.
Don't worry about it.
It's all over you and that you are the star of the show.
So Tommy, how are you feeling ahead of this one, mate?
Formula One finally back.
Oh yeah, looking forward to it.
And our predictions, we left it on such a brilliant cliffhanger for the summer break.
Michael Masseyed that good, didn't we?
We, yeah.
And I know we joke about it.
We joke, but we literally aren't giving.
At the most.
Like, sometimes you get grace involved.
If it was the family and we were, if I was using Grace every week or something, for example.
But it's not like-
We've tried to Michael Massey, the family top three. That's not happened so far.
Yeah, we're not going, oh, Lando Norris won, but it needs to be close so you're not getting a point.
Like, we've not done anything like that.
It's very crazy.
It's 37 all. 37-37.
This is the real fight, right?
Not the championship fight in Formula One.
The championship fight between me and you, Tommy.
Now, before we get into our predictions and dive into all of that wonderful delusion in our minds, speaking of delusion, I'm wearing this t-shirt, right?
Which I know you will have seen previously. Some of you have bought it. However, there is more. There is a huge announcement. The largest of announcements we've had for a while. And it is. The P1 Live show is coming to Australia.
Confir. Done. Yeah. That is the amount of people to do it.
Yeah, so much. I'm hoping the editor did us good there and that there are serious amounts of carnage going on the screen right now.
That was actually people in Australia cheering. We could hear them from the UK. That's how loud they were cheering.
Big noise. So yeah, we are going to Australia, everybody. So I know that a lot of you have been asking for it.
Lee, when are you coming to Australia? Wow. Why are you ignoring us?
So you're better buy the tickets now.
Yes, we're coming a very, very long way. So I really hope you will come to our show.
So we are doing.
7th of May, Melbourne at the National Theatre.
9th of May, Sydney at the Seymour Centre.
11th of May, Brisbane at the Tivoli, or Tivoli, I've said both.
And finally, the 13th of May at the Astor Theatre in Perth.
Oh, yes.
I can't wait, Tommy.
I've never been to Australia before.
I've never been, and I can't wait, looking forward to it.
I will be in some sort of massive inflatable ball just to protect myself from all spiders
that will come near me.
You'll be in like a Ferrari beekeeping out there.
That is something that doesn't exist but needs to.
So there you go.
7th, 9th, 11th and 13th of May, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
We cannot wait to go there.
It's going to be awesome.

and general sale for these tickets
will be at 2pm local time this Friday.
Right, let's get into the predictions, Tommy, 37 apiece.
And it is your time to go first for the Dutch Grand Prix.
So good surprise I've gone for Max Verstappen.
No messing around, easy dub,
shameless Matt Gallagher-style prediction.
Max hasn't had a podium for a long time
and we go to the Dutch Grand Prix that will suit the Red Bull more,
and Max is always always good around here,
even though I don't necessarily think he can win.
We'll find out, but we'll see.
But Max has happened mainly just because he's not been on the podium in a long time,
and surely, surely here he's got to do it.
So, by the rules and regulations of this podcast predictions,
I have to now change mine because I was indeed going for me.
Max Vostappen a good surprise. Should have seen this coming with the amount of merch you're currently
wearing and should have thought of this. I won't very much biggest flop last time actually.
So instead, my good surprise is Lewis Hamilton. Okay. Literally on the fly. But look,
we're going for drivers that haven't been on a great run of form. I see that. I see you Tommy.
You know, that's a very safe bet with Max Verstappen. Little P4 from Lewis Hamilton. I, you know, I'm
locking that in. Beautiful stuff. Or actually, I will take a point if his post-qualie
slash post-race interviews are actually reasonably positive. That is a good surprise in itself
because of obviously how sad things were at the end of Hungary. But no, let's go. Let's go for
Lewis Hamilton. He's, he's Lewis Hamilton, for God's sake. This should be something I could be
confident in. So I'm going for it. Locked in. Right. We now head to a big flop.
You're not going to like the, not going to like the, you're not going to like what I say here, Tommy.
You've been on the hype train for this man.
My big flop is Gabrielle Bortoletto.
Oh.
There's been a bit too much good going on at the moment.
I feel like there needs to be a flop.
I'm sorry, Bortoletto.
I really am because I genuinely said that you were going to get a podium in the bulk predictions.
However, it's not at Zanvort.
All right.
I'm really sorry.
And I flopped it.
And my flop has been good.
My flop has been very good the last year.
Wait, didn't you do Holcombberg the last two?
This is the third Selbray.
Yeah, I am going for that, Tommy.
Look, I'm not against Salba.
I'm just, I just have an appetite for points, okay?
And right now, I feel like Salbert, you know, they had such a great run of form.
Holkenberg, of course, off the back of that podium.
I scored a lovely two points from him in the last two.
You did.
I'm really sorry, Bortoletto.
That's what I'm going to say.
Salber flops have been good to you, haven't they?
I have gone, and a team, actually, I've gone for.
It's not Salber.
It's Aston Martin.
And I actually thought you might go for this one.
We go different
Yeah, you have
Completely different track
To the last one
They were rubbish and spa
Awful actually
Then great at the Hungaro Ring
And then we go back to a more
spa-like circuit
And I think I'll start out
That's my logic here
But then also
If it rains
It could all go out the window
Because of course
They've got two very good
Wet Weather drivers
They certainly do
Tommy
Who is your poll position?
My poll position is Oscar Piastri.
I think Oscar is going to, yeah.
Again, he's been good in qualifying.
That's something he's really turned around this year,
something that's been very, very impressive.
I do think it's going to be very close between the two McLaren's,
as it always is in qualifying.
But yeah, this time I'm feeling an Oscar Piastri poll position.
Okay.
I don't need to change my bowl position.
Let's go.
My poll position is Max Verstappen.
Oh, yeah.
Get the cape on me now.
I think that's probably what needs to happen.
Yeah, look, I think I will kick myself if I didn't put Max in the forefront of some of my predictions coming into Zandvort where, yes, he couldn't fight off Lando last year.
But I think, and we've discussed this previously, Tommy, that the Rebel aren't in as bad a position in terms of their pace as what I think we would.
will see in Zandvort and I am you know maybe seeing in my mind's eye that there could be some
changeable conditions let's let's see right we're recording this quite early because of the fact
that I need to move house so I can't check the weather all too accurately right now but from
what I looked at it was thunderstorms Saturday or Sunday but it is quite far out so yeah I
I'd kick myself if I didn't go for max and so I've done that okay in third position I have gone
for Oscar Piastri.
A little P3 for Oscar.
Yeah, I haven't put a McLaren in both first and second.
Unbelievable scenes.
Is Tommy changing on the fly?
I'm seeing a little bit of movement in his eyes right now.
No, I'm actually just checking something, but you carry on.
Okay, you're checking something.
That always scares me when you check something.
I'm not being like, can you, you can't go for Oscar Pastri in P3.
I was actually just checking if he's even had a P3 this year.
because it seems like he's always been kind of first or second
off the podium and there'll be people screaming going
of course he was he was P3 in I actually it's come to me already
without even looking it was Imler there we go
there you go and Kay so he has been so too
so it is possible then thank you to me
okay so my P3 is Maxfussappen
back on the podium
but no higher than a P3.
Yeah, maybe a crazy weather conditions like you say,
we don't know yet, but you think that rain or shine
for Stappen should be good around Zandvoort
and not one of those circuits where maybe he will gamble
on different wing settings and stuff
because it's not one of those that will really,
you don't think it would change as much between
kind of wet and dry conditions.
So yeah, I'm going for Max.
OK-dokey.
Second position, Tommy.
P2 is Lando Norris.
I find it very difficult to choose between P1 and P2.
And yeah, I've gone for Lando, of course, crushing victory last season.
I think McLaren will be mighty.
And I can see Matt changing.
and I don't know if it's changing because he wants to change it to absolutely screw me over.
Or if he's just going for what he and he's gone for Lando as well.
We're about to find out.
Well, I can't screw you over Tommy because I've already put Oscar in third.
So there's no way of me screwing you over, unfortunately.
Yes, I do have to announce that I did have Lando Norris in P2.
So I have to change again, which means mind games galore, but I can't do anything.
So I've used my joker card of Oscar Piastri already, which is really annoying.
So in second position, I am going to lock in Max Verstappen.
I just think he's going to be competitive.
I just see it.
Yeah.
Why would you not, why would you bet against him at his home Grand Prix?
He's going to be rejuvenated, I think.
So this could age terribly and he finishes seventh at his home Grand Prix,
but both of us, Tommy, are on the hype train.
And I had him somewhere else, but I've had to go to second.
I was about to say by process of elimination,
then does that mean you had Vastappen P1 originally?
I did, yeah.
I did, yeah, because again, if there is some kind of changeable conditions,
I'm putting Max right up there and he'll challenge for the win.
So it's not happening now.
He's finished his second.
So that's locked in.
In first place, therefore, I have gone for Lando Norris,
which, to be honest with you, my brain is a lot more comfortable with this.
The max play this weekend is a risky one.
There's no guarantee, whereas McLaren are faster every single circuit.
So I'm not too upset with having Lando in P1.
I might have accidentally again giving you the dub there.
Was it last time out?
We switched and you got it right and you got it right.
I appreciate you.
Cheers.
So P1, no surprise.
I've gone for Oscar Piastri.
McLaren won two with Max in P3, not the most interesting of predictions,
but I could of course see it happening.
McLaren I do think are going to be mighty round here.
Oscar has been rapid at these sort of circuits this year,
which is why I've gone for him over Lando,
but it was a very difficult choice
because, of course, Lando was so good here last year.
He was, actually, I feel great now.
Lando was brilliant around Zambort last time.
And if it rains, he's brilliant in the wet as well, Lando, so.
Thank you, Tommy.
I think you've just given me at least one point there.
I think I might have.
Let's now head to our one crazy prediction.
My one crazy prediction is Yuki Sanoda in the points.
It's been a long old time.
When's the last time?
It was back in May for, he has actually scored points for Red Bull.
I had to check it actually because in my head he hadn't even scored points for Red Bull yet, but he did.
Then he had like a P9 or something.
He got P10 at Imola last time.
That was the last time he got points.
So very long time ago, Yuki did better in those.
races, even though it's still a horrible result in the end, but there were signs of improvement
weirdly, so we'll see.
Okay, dokey.
My one crazy prediction is also about points, but not for Yuki Sonoda.
Pierre Gazley.
He's off the back of a P-19.
Don't you dare go to his record.
I see you.
I see you moving your arm.
Lovely little P-19 in Spa.
So, look, he was very good, actually, last time out in Zanvort.
so I see a little bit of form there.
And Gazley.
And 2020,
three as well.
Yeah, wasn't that?
It was on the podium.
Yeah.
Yeah.
When we were there.
Crazy old race.
That one.
God,
the rain was mental.
But yeah,
I've gone for Gassley points because
it is crazy.
Alpine are not consistently.
They're usually about ninth fastest.
So we will go for that.
We'll lock it in and I'm not getting any sort of agro from Tommy there.
As he brings out his flipping
receipts of
three races ago
and do the fastest lap.
Right.
Patreon prediction.
So if you're unaware,
of course,
any of you that are part of the P1
Patreon can submit a prediction
each race weekend
and one of them
can be selected by both me and Tommy.
My one is from Edith
is my middle name.
Berman in the points.
It has to happen.
Come on.
Come on.
We're loving the drivers in the points.
That's three in a row.
It's got it.
We're just handing out points left right and sent now.
I want points as well.
There's not many points positions.
It's so true.
And we're like, so we need Sonoda,
Gazley and the bearman in the points.
No, no, I don't need you.
I don't need the Sonoda.
No, true.
You can, you can take that and shove it where the sundown trying to go.
And we also might not have that if my patron
prediction comes through because it is from Sophie,
which is all 20 drivers finish the race.
Are you channeling a stinker here, Tommy?
No, not necessarily, just could still be a action at the front.
Zanvort is one of those where it's only ever amazing or single file.
So fingers crossed, it's more like a 20-23.
Zanvort is a difficult track to overtake, as we know.
But I feel like it does invite a little lunge, a little dive bomb, a little...
Yeah, true.
You know, so 20 drivers finishing Zanvort will be very intriguing indeed.
And I hope for your sake, 19 of them finish.
So let's...
go to our family
top three
where I'm just going to
ring around
because I haven't actually
spoken to anyone
and I'm going to see
if Ellie will pick up first
she's going to hate me
that I put her on the spot
she'd think this is an emergency
please don't hate me please don't hate me please don't hate me
she loves doing research as well
she's probably on a meeting
I'm literally ringing her on a meeting
I'm a terrible human
If she hasn't picked up a fifth.
That's two in a row as well.
Oh no.
Right.
Oh God.
Next.
Next family member.
Absolutely not.
No, that will be zero points immediately.
No, that's when you finally take the lead.
You have to use a sister.
I can rely on my dad.
I feel like my dad will pick up.
But also, I've not told any of them that I'm going to be ringing or recording the
predictions.
So maybe this is the way, though.
Hi.
Hi, dad.
You're live on the P1 podcast.
Please do not swear.
Yes.
So we're recording predictions quite early
and I've not told anyone that I was going to do it.
So I'm putting you on the spot.
I tried to ring Ellie,
but she's clearly at a meeting
and will give me a message later
that I've interrupted their meeting probably.
So it's over to you for the top three
and you've had no chance to think about it,
but I feel like we need to change it up.
I feel like there's too much thinking
going on in the Gallagher's
and we need just off the cuff vibes.
Okay, so in P3, Dad,
who is finishing in third for Zanvort?
Thank you.
Thanks for Stefan.
Okay, P2.
Lando Norris.
And who's in first?
Oscar deastery.
Okay.
There's been a lot of Max for Stap and glazing in this podcast.
We've all thought that Max is going to do well this weekend.
And you are also there.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you so much, Dad.
Lots of love.
Okay.
No problem.
Cheers.
Bye.
Bye.
That's very, very difficult because I want my predictions to come in,
but then you get three points for the families
because they're exactly the same as mine.
Is it the same?
Yeah, yeah, exactly the same.
Oscar, Oscar P1-Mand-O P-T-Max P3.
Forget the family top three.
That's the constructors.
No one cares about that.
The driver's championship is where it's at.
That's not what he said last year when Ferrari were.
Yeah, but in this.
Okay, thanks Dad for going exactly the same as Tommy.
I need to now see if my mum will pick up.
I can ask her about how I crochet.
Yes, ask her about the little stitching.
That dial tone sounds like she's underwere.
water. Hello? Hello. You're live on the P1 podcast. How are you, ma'am? I'm all right. I'm in the
middle of making a curry. Lovely, lovely stuff. Some more, some more, some more, some more, some more.
What kind of curry, Matt says? I'm doing a tofu one. Lovely, lovely. Right, Matt,
take it or leave it. Right, ma'am, I need your top three for the Dutch Grand Prix. I hope you've
planned accordingly. P3, please.
My house.
Okay.
So in third place, Charles.
Okay.
Interesting.
Your mum's great.
P2.
Okay.
And P1.
Max.
Oh, okay.
I definitely thought that was going to be Oscar.
No Oscar on the podium.
Interesting.
Okay.
Is this because you want a different...
Is this because you want a different driver on your crochet?
Are you still doing it?
I am.
Not crochet.
Cross stitch.
Oh, it's close enough.
Yeah.
Please tell her that you've lied to the audience.
We need some red on there or different color at least.
You need some red on there.
Yes.
Honestly.
I was born into the wrong family.
You were.
We, yeah, I mentioned it in the last podcast.
So I need you to send me an updated picture and I can show it off.
And then we're giving it away at the end of the season.
All right.
Sweet you soon.
Bye.
Bye.
All right, comment down below if you want to win Tommy's mum's cross stitch at the end of the season.
She didn't know she would drink.
Yeah, exactly.
So, okay.
Interesting.
I really thought that was going to be Oscar.
Yeah.
Yeah, this is not.
Okay, to be fair, actually, in my head, I had Max P1.
actually don't.
I was going to, of course.
But I'm glad there's a difference in the family.
None of our family have gone for the same.
So there is an opportunity to go either me extend the lead massively or you catch up.
Yes, that's big Ws.
They're aware of the content.
Thanks to my dad.
That's a very strong top three,
considering I put him completely on the spot.
Okay, that is our predictions.
Locked in, 37 apiece as we head into Zambort,
10 races to go.
Cannot wait, Tommy.
We're going to be live, of course,
on Twitch and YouTube on Saturday and Sunday
for our watch along.
Come and join us there if you'd like to be part of the gang.
Tommy, what your final thoughts?
Mine are pray for your house move
all works well, of course, and also.
If you're in Australia, you'd better be buying some tickets because, look, we're super hyped to go there.
And I know a lot of you, every time we do a tour, it's like, why aren't you coming to Australia?
Why don't come to Australia?
Well, we are now.
So, come.
Please, please, please.
Otherwise, it's going to be a long journey for 12 people.
For a long journey for 12 people.
No, we can't wait.
It's going to be awesome.
Thank you, everybody.
We'll see you soon.
Lots to love.
Bye.
Bye.
Yeah, the chore is just, if you're in Australia, get those tickets.
Get those tickets.
You know what I'm saying?
Just get locked in because they're going to fly off the shelves if the amount of people that have said.
All the US or Canada or the UK or Ireland.
But today, Australia, you know, we're focusing in Australia because we're going there.
I can't believe we're going there.
It doesn't feel real if I'm being completely honest with you.
But I cannot wait.
It's going to be awesome.
And to be fair to you, if Amsterdam is anything to go by, I would not wait around if you want to come see us in Australia because Amsterdam sold very quickly and that was the first time.
in there. So that's my chore is to sort that out if you want to come. And if not, completely
understand.
The most British respond. Please buy tickets. But if not, don't worry. No worries.
Yeah. No, please buy tickets. It's like, you better do this. No worries if not.
Bye. Bye.
