Starting point is 00:00:05 Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 podcast with Matt and Tommy, Singapore Race Week. A land of hopes and dreams at the moment, if you're a certain Tom Bellingham or a neutral fan that wants to see something absolutely ridiculous happen in this championship. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hey Tommy, but we already have and I'm wearing a red bull top. I know. Super September is, I was going to say, it is over. It's not quite one day left, but we'll be in. into October, let's see if Max's challenge can continue.
Starting point is 00:00:38 When this goes out, it will be October, so that makes no sense whatsoever. So as of recording, contextually, it is still September at the moment, which means our predictions might well be something special. Now, before we get into everything, predictions for the Singapore Grand Prix. I've got to say, the P1 Live Delusion Tour in just over a month's time is heading to the US and Canada. And we would love to see you there. We've got brand new segments. It's fun games.
Starting point is 00:01:04 There's a lot to talk about. It's a fresh show. If you've been before, come along again. Trust me, you'll have a completely different time, but it'll also be very, very fun. So, on the 4th of November, Seattle, Neptune Theatre, the 5th of November, San Francisco, Swedish American Hall, 10th of November, Denver, the Savantes masterpiece ballroom. Wow, that sounds very fancy, doesn't it? The 11th of November, Dallas at the Granada Theatre, the 13th of November, Toronto at the Danforth Music Hall. 14th of November is Chicago Park West, which we've been to before.
Starting point is 00:01:34 And then finally, it is the 16th of November, Brooklyn, New York City in Warsaw. So there you go. That are, that is the dates and the places. So go and get your tickets. There'll be a link in the episode description as well as the top of the YouTube description as well. We'd love to see you there. All right, Tommy, it is 4543 to you in this predictions championship that nobody cares about until I'm winning. And it is my time to go first.
Starting point is 00:02:02 So what have I been cooking? up this week. Well, we head to a good surprise. Thought about this long and hard. And my good surprise is Fernando Alonzo. Yeah. Oh, I don't know if that's a little smirks just to change it or what. We'll find out shortly. I've gone for Fernando Alonzo because it's not a fast track in terms of low downforce. And that is what Aston Martin don't do very well at. Perhaps even Tommy. has gone for Aston Martin, good surprise. I'm just trying to think on my feet as to what you've gone for.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I've gone for a Fernando Alonzo, good surprise. I don't feel like we've seen enough sort of, wow, what a great drive from Fernando Alonzo this year. Obviously hindered by the car, hindered by a bit of bad luck as well. But this week, it's time to get a point. Thank you. So the reason I was slightly smoking is I've gone for Lance Stroll. And the reason I've gone for Lance Stroll was because I was going to go for Fernando Alonzo. And then, but mainly because I think, yeah, like Aston in, on paper should be a lot better.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Fernando is very good at that, at Singapore as well. But I went for Lance Stroll because it feels like an easier chance to get points. Because the bar is lower, is what you're doing. Of course, because he could, because people would still be surprised if he gets, gets points even if he doesn't necessarily beat Fernando Alonso. Whereas if he does beat Fernando Alonzo, you know, yeah, exactly. Yeah, you get 100 points. No, no, you don't. No, you don't.
Starting point is 00:03:34 No, you don't. Take that back. Delete. Edit. A bit now. Right. Let's go to a big flop. Big flop.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I've gone for Max Verstappen. The dream's over. September's over. What are you doing? I'm being realistic. Being realistic. Yeah, being realistic. Wow.
Starting point is 00:03:55 It's Singapore. Who's the real Max Verstappan fan here? Because there's only one of us wearing Red Bull merch right now. I want to, look, I want to believe. and I do hope that this is just like he can get this bogey circuit out the way of course there'll be talk of him like running out a bit of races and things to be able to do this title challenge
Starting point is 00:04:16 if it is indeed on but this matters to happen in Singapore it's just an easy nightmare circuit for him like he's always had bad luck bad races there some through his own some through poor luck. There's that insane stat that everyone always brings up at Singapore that Antonio Jovanazzi has led more laps at Singapore than Maxa Stappen. And I just don't think,
Starting point is 00:04:44 a bit like I mentioned about Aston Martin, doing well here, you look back to say something like Hungary and he was struggling in Struggle Town. So that's my logic. Interesting. Okay. Tommy And I've never wanted to be more wrong about a prediction in my life. Straight out the blocks for this week after, you know, finishing the last race saying, wow, and 2% of me now, I kind of believing. That's positivity from Tommy, I tell you that. Right. My big flop for this weekend, Williams.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I feel like that's it. I've gone for a double pointer as a reminder if it comes in. It's a two-pointer. If it doesn't, obviously it's zero. It's just got William stinker written all over it. If they don't get a podium, then that's a big club locked in. I knew. I just I can't see them doing particularly well.
Starting point is 00:05:37 They'd have to do probably worse than what they're able to do in a car that's pretty good this year. So I'm sorry in advance, but the big flop, I need to look back now at the streak that I'm on or at least, however many points I've scored since the flop powers came back. And Williams, maybe you can help me to an extra two. Thank you so much. Let's go to pole position. My pole position is Lando Norris. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:06 It has to be. I mean, it has to be. There's, I sound like any time I say like Charlotte, yeah, I thought that. And winning the world title. So it's not going to happen now. So I wish I've not said that, that particular phrase. Landau was so, so fast last year at Singapore,
Starting point is 00:06:21 nearly crashed it a couple of times whilst he was half a minute down the road. As Tommy ferociously tries to think, do I go for pole position, Max for Staffen after flopping him. But for me, Lando is the safe bet. I think for pole position this weekend, that's what I've gone for. So, yeah, I had gone for Lando Norris. So by the rules, by the way, if this is your first predictions podcast, we have rules where if one of us goes for a certain prediction,
Starting point is 00:06:49 the other one has to change it on the flight, makes it quite fun. Otherwise it'd be very boring. I like it to this year. I like it. And also, it's been a nice addition. I will say that for next season, we are revamping the predictions. format again so that we've taken on your feedback of certain things being quite easy to maybe predict I say easy we scores zero points a lot of the time but we are going to refresh it a little bit for next
Starting point is 00:07:12 year as well as a teaser we will we'll have a thing so I appreciate your stalling there because I'm deciding between two drivers and I will go for the boring answer and go for oscarpiastri who was the other one out of interest charlaclair sorry what okay yeah yeah Now go for Oscar Piastri. I do think McLaren are going to be absolutely rapid. It should be a McLaren track, one suited to them. And, yeah, I'll go for Piastri because I do think he's going to, you know, can't get worse than last time. And I don't think he's going to continue his form where, my word, like, what a bad race he had last time.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Can it be counted as form? I guess if you have the phrase you're only as good as your last race then absolutely then if he makes Lattee we're on top win then that's good surprise locked in
Starting point is 00:08:06 surprised neither else went for good surprise I can't believe no one for that late but wow what are we doing here we're veterans of this series what are we doing
Starting point is 00:08:13 okay interesting Oscar Piastri even though you wanted to go for Lando third position in the race Tommy I have gone for George Russell the forgotten man maybe a driver that often gets
Starting point is 00:08:26 maybe forgotten about and missed off our prediction in the top three, but has got a lot of podiums this year. And yeah, I think he'll go well around here. You know, it's still a very hot race even though it's obviously running cooler conditions, but still very hot. But now, I think Russell will have a good race around it. Okay. Their position, I have not gone for GR. I've gone for Oskar P Astri. I just, in my head, I just really struggle to put three drivers in the top three. It's really difficult because on paper one thing should happen and both McLaren should definitely be in the top three. But then the reality is you've got the Georges that turn up quite a lot.
Starting point is 00:09:19 You've got the Charle-le-Claire's that turn up with a Ferrari occasionally. But for me, I'm going to go for Oscar Piastri. I think P3, to be honest, I think he would take a P3. after what we had last time out in Azerbaijan. That was the biggest stinker I can remember from a championship leader. So for Oscar to just settle the boat, even if he loses a few points to Lando, he just needs to get back into the flow of things,
Starting point is 00:09:43 which I think he will. But if we're looking back at last year's form as well, I think Lando may well be the McLaren to beat. Second position. I take it all back. Lando Norris. Lando's getting second. Which, to be fair, McLaren to beat was the sentence I used, which doesn't mean he is the other McLaren.
Starting point is 00:10:03 So I've gone for Llan-R-SP2 because I'm just, I'm all aboard. I'm all aboard, I'm all aboard something crazy. I just want it, I need it. I don't know which one. Yeah, where you're about to find out on you. But I think McLaren will have the fastest car this weekend, but that's not to say that mistakes won't creep in or qualifying will be massive, even though I think that Lando should, in theory, take pole position. but I've thought that many times and sadly I've not scored as many points
Starting point is 00:10:30 as when I've back Lando. So I've gone for P2, Ellen. P2, I have gone for Oscar Pastery. And yeah, and this was an interesting one because, well, we'll get onto it later, but because of what you've predicted so far, I thought this might be another one of those kind of chess moves that make you go, oh no, now I can't do this.
Starting point is 00:10:53 But as we've seen, you're on the different, you're on the different, train at the moment. So yeah, I've gone for Oscar Piastri, as I mentioned earlier. He'll bounce back from and yeah, get back into the kind of, you still got a healthy lead. It's not obviously an enormous lead. But you know, a solid P2. It's kind of all he needs really, isn't it, to just kind of stay, kind of going for that championship charge and regain his confidence after last time. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:11:29 No, I'm running my own race, Tommy, in this predictions. I'm not thinking about you. You're Mark Weber in this situation. I'm Fernando Alonzo, and I don't need a Spassian Vell. That's a good reference. But that, you know, I'm just thinking about, you know, just where my vibes are right now. Where are your vibes, Tommy, for P1? My vibes are with Lando Norris.
Starting point is 00:11:48 I really do think Lando would be incredibly strong here. He was last year, the McLaren, arguably even far. now. I know he's had not even a bad run that the last race of course he got a lot of criticism for and I think you know deserved from the drive he had also had some
Starting point is 00:12:08 bad luck but this this track should suit him massively. He has been good at these kind of circuits you know you won at Hungary, he won at Monaco so yeah I think Lando is a sensible choice but I've said
Starting point is 00:12:24 that a lot this year and you know Niko Wilkenberg's got a podium and so it's Carlos Sainz and lots of crazy things happen, so you never know an F one. Exactly. Okay. First position. Give me a second. Don't look.
Starting point is 00:12:38 You're not allowed to look, Tommy. Okay. The reveal will be like the Mexico podium. My first position, and for audio, this is not going to work, but you'll have to watch it on YouTube as well. When can I look? You can look now. I'm here. I'm here.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Right. In first position. No, it's fine. I'm not wearing anything. I thought you were going to change. To a Ferrari shirt. I know, you can look. In first position, I have gone for...
Starting point is 00:13:09 D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-Mags. Yes, I've gone for Max Verstappen. I was grabbing the car, Tommy, not an outfit to change in front of you. This is an older car, because it has the 33 on the side. My daughter is obsessed with that song and has a little Max-Lapin toy that I bought her back from our Netherlands show. Yeah. And that just gave me the vibe,
Starting point is 00:13:30 because she is just singing that song all the time at the time. moment. Maybe that's the good fortune he needs. And she has the Max Verstappen top, if we don't forget. And you have been trying to summon the onesie powers. It's got 100% ratio again because he won the Nobegring race. So look. Get it signed. Quick Tommy frame inside it now. Yes, I've gone for Max Verstappen. This has zero logic to it. This is purely just, I just want to, you know, look, Sherlock Clare's not fighting for the World Championship. We all know where up my allegiance is really lie as I sit here with a Red Bull
Starting point is 00:14:00 top on with a Red Ball model. car in front of me. So I just, I'm a fan of just sporting moments. And if Max can genuinely mount a championship charge, then sign me up. And make everything so much more interesting. Yeah, and me gloating in the post-race podcast about scoring a point backing your boy around a track he's never won at, wow, that would feed generations. So sign me up to that.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Let's go to one crazy prediction. my one crazy prediction is there will not be a singular yellow flag during the entirety of the Singapore Grand Prix. Okay. And the reason I've gone for this is because I had forgotten to write it in the sheet and therefore I just made it up on the spot. And that is what I am going for. That would suggest we've had a rather boring. Sunday race. We'll be live on YouTube and Twitch. Come and join us anyway.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Matt Pee won't Tommy. Sorry, I just thought I'd segue that in. But yes, I've gone for that because it's the literal segment is called crazy. And I think that's obscene. To be honest with you, I think I deserve two points. It is quite obscene. I kind of need it to happen for mine as well. So my one crazy prediction is, and sorry for the pessimism here, the first non-McClaren is over 30 seconds off the lead. Oh, so even worse in terms of the competition than last year where Max finished 20 seconds behind. Yeah, yeah. So 30 seconds off.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Obviously a very long race. Well, everybody, you should still tune in to the race and all the post-race content that... Of course. It's going to be... I'm hype for it. I hope I completely, you know, jinx the whole thing like I did with the red flags last time. I love how our crazy predictions are very much pointing towards a certain level of entertainment. Let's see if it does not go.
Starting point is 00:16:05 that way. Let's go to our Patreon prediction where one of you, if you're part of the P1 Patreon, can submit a prediction and it'd be part of our selection. Tommy, who have you gone for? I have gone for Alec and it is Bortolete in the points.
Starting point is 00:16:21 No way. Return to form. No way. Okay, it's fine. You carry on. You do your explanation and I'll get to mine. Okay. My explanation is that like I think he's going to have a good good race here and
Starting point is 00:16:37 when was the last time he had points do you remember I think it was Hungary is that crazy no Monza Monza even worse two races sorry two races ago
Starting point is 00:16:51 hold on hold on sorry so with our Patreon predictions it's similar ish to crazy predictions it needs to be crazy okay I can change it so Belgium scored two points Hungary scored eight Netherlands zero Italy 4, Azerbaijan, Zero.
Starting point is 00:17:04 So he has scored more times than not in the last five races. That is absolutely ridiculous. Tommy, whilst you figure out another Patreon prediction, I'm going to go with mine and tell you why it's funny. Because I went for Jensen's listening. Incredible Hulk returns to the points. And he's not been in the points since he scored a podium at Silverstone, which... No way.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Yeah. Has he actually not been even even a point? Nope. Not scored a points in Silverstone. I was joking that he's just disappeared off the face of the earth since... No, no, he literally did. His podium, but he literally has. He's just given it.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Wow. That's what I've gone for, which I think is a very fair prediction to put in the Patreon one. Tommy's now going to submit one himself on a burner account that says the five red lights will go out. So let's see what Tommy will try and score a point on as I continue for the second time this podcast to fill the gap. This goes against my predictions, but I want it to happen. and I was thinking about putting this driver in. This is from Jack. Lewis Hamilton gets his first Ferrari podium in honor of Roscoe.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Yeah, let's make that happen. Big love. That would be an amazing thing. Of course, if you've missed it, I'm sure you haven't. Hamilton's beloved dog, Roscoe passed away. And I hope, yeah, I hope that Hamilton can have an amazing result because we all have pets or a lot of us have pets. We know what it's like to lose something so dear to us.
Starting point is 00:18:27 So, yeah, fingers crossed for Hamilton. and that would be quite the, I mean, yeah, that would be pretty emotional, I think. That'd be a great story, wouldn't it? And what's not so great is you scoring a point off the back of it, but like, that's, that's... We'll allow it for that one. Yeah, we'll allow it. Okay, let's head to the family top three. I feel like next year this needs a jingle or something.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Like, I feel like it's almost like family fortunes type thing, you know what I mean? What your family predicting? Yeah, something like that. Maybe not as bad as that, but family top three, it's currently eight seven to the boring Bellingham's. It's very close in. I am going to be calling my father. Okay. So let's see what my dad is cooking up this week.
Starting point is 00:19:10 It better be good. Hello, Matt. Hi, Dad. Oh, hello, he knows. He knew it was kind. Look at this. Everyone wonders where the presenter genes come from. There we go.
Starting point is 00:19:21 It's there. Okay, Dad, right. Talk to me. P3 for Singapore. P3, Lando Norris. Okay, okay, all right. Second place? Oscar PS3.
Starting point is 00:19:35 I feel like... No way. No way it's on the hype train here. What up P1? Max for Steppen. That's hilarious. So both me and you have gone. I want you.
Starting point is 00:19:46 I want to sacrifice the points in the predictions of this to happen. I will. I actually will. Why, Dad? You just feel... I mean, you've said this before that Max is unstoppable. You think he's going to win the championship, Mike. no way
Starting point is 00:20:01 he's just on such a role he is on a role but he's going to a place he's never won before I don't yeah but that is a first for everything all right cool
Starting point is 00:20:10 he's gonna do it he's gonna do it apparently thank you dad appreciate it we need the point yeah please please score me some thank you so much alright
Starting point is 00:20:17 speak soon love you bye I love you all right okay okay so that's crazy that's annoying
Starting point is 00:20:24 I kind of yeah so I kind of well I hope you're right because obviously I want it for my own Max wins and you'll be like, oh, no, the prediction. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Oh, no, anyway. Yeah. True. Right. There's one person more compared to it. I'm going to give my wife a call. Oh. I know how much she loves doing this segment.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Yeah, absolutely dreading the phone. Could we good? Yeah, she is. Hello, you're right. Get it close to the mic. Are you ready? Are you ready? So, I, we basically, our lead is being eroded quite massively, so I need a need good predictions.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Don't think so loud. No pressure. Yeah, right. P3. Oscar. Okay. Oskar, same as me. P2. Max.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Oh, okay. And P1. Lando. Okay, interesting. So we've got the same as your dad's prediction, but in a different order. All right, thanks for, thank you. Oh, I thought I'd done the same again, because I think last time I predicted it was literally identical. It may well have been.
Starting point is 00:21:26 It was the same as I. Oh, yeah, you did. you did the blocking. Well, we could block all the way to the finish, but appreciate it. She's just listening to. All right. Love you, bye. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I've never said. She loved to. Honestly, she sounded exhausted by the end of that phone call. She's like, stop calling me. I'm downstairs. Leave me alone. That's brilliant. Thank you, Katie, for getting involved once again.
Starting point is 00:21:51 I'll tell Tommy to not call you again. I was going to say, I could just bring her in the room, but you should take that even more. be horrendous. I mean, Ellie's literally downstairs as well. I could literally just get Ed to come in. But she's like, no, no, I need to be sure I'm ready for the P1 podcast appearance. Right. That is it. Thank you, everybody, for tuning in to our predictions. We will find out how washed or amazing they have been. We will be live on Twitch and YouTube, Matt P1, Tommy, if you want to come and watch along with us for the conclusion of this F1 season, Tommy, what are your final thoughts?
Starting point is 00:22:24 Just you saying the conclusion of this F1 season, it's really sunk in how like, you know, we're getting to the business end of the championship. We are. And I'm hyped for it. And the business end of the predictions championship, more importantly. Wow. Exactly. Signed me up.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Right. Thank you, everybody. Remember, P1 Live Show tickets are available still in the US and Canada. We'll see you soon. Bye! Goodbye. It's a bit the inside of my mouth when I did that. Good.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Pretty good. Fantastic. Bye. Bye. Mature is. Don't bite the inside of my mouth. They do not do that. It's not great.
Starting point is 00:23:02 And also buy tickets to the P1 Live. Delusion tour, thank you. P1 is a stack production and part of the Acast's creator network.
