Starting point is 00:00:05 Hello everybody and welcome back to the B1 podcast with Matt and Tommy. Predictions thick and fast. We're not stopping here. We are well and truly into momentum millennia. I just wanted to have to be in the iteration. Prediction Paradise. That's really good that is. Wasn't prediction paradise for either of us in Austria.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Oh my God, it was so bad. It was absolutely awful. The only point I scored was because I got a P-16 prediction better than you. But at least we will always score points, which is, which is at least somewhat of a saving of the blushes. Now, it is currently 3023 to Tom Bellingham. He is running away with this once more. I need to bounce back.
Starting point is 00:00:46 And let's see. Let's see how I'm feeling. I'm not dripped head to toe in Ferrari. So let's see if that will reflect in my predictions. But it is me to go first. So a good surprise. My good surprise is Esteban Okon. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:01:06 I'm not taking the Lewis Hamilton easy, peasy, good surprise, and if Tommy does it, he is a scumbag. Because Hamilton's been on an insane run of form, and he'll have to win by 20 seconds in order for that to be a good surprise. I'll be real. No, just a win. So I don't think Ferrari will be the quickest car,
Starting point is 00:01:23 so therefore I've steered to someone on a rather terrible run of form. If he pops a little P-13 in, yeah. Because honestly, the points are locked out. If Oconn even remotely beats Berman, I think I'm asking for this to come in. Because Bearman has been the better hash driver pretty much the entirety of this year. And I would love to see Esty Besty bounce back with a great performance, which we've not seen in a while. So I'll go slightly different.
Starting point is 00:01:53 O'Con mentioned for good surprise. Nice. Like it. Good surprise I have gone for. do it do Lewis Hamilton Yeah I've gone for Lewis Hamilton
Starting point is 00:02:06 You're so boring You can't do it every British Grand Prix You're seven points clear And I went You know what I'm not going to reel out The Lewis Hamilton Good Surprise cheat code And that's what you've done
Starting point is 00:02:21 I have I absolutely have Lewis Hamilton Is unbelievable round here Always brings his A game And it just feels like I've got to go with it because I'll regret it if I don't.
Starting point is 00:02:30 So Lewis Hamilton, of course, even last year had his best result, which I know wasn't a podium because he had a difficult year, but that was in the wet conditions when Ferrari are terrible. 2024, of course, that amazing victory. And yeah, he always seems to deliver around to him.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I know the bar is high for Hamilton, which is, you kind of said it, that it kind of needs to be a win or something crazy. So, yeah, I'm going for, for Lewis Hamilton, why not? What do you mean why not? Don't make it sound like this is a left field's prediction. Like that is the most obvious thing to go with.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And I've gone, you know, I'm seven points behind. Pops in a nesty bestie who has been on an absolute dire runner form. Okay, good. Glad to see one of us is having fun and one of us who isn't competitive. Tom Bellingham is actually the most competitive man in the world. Let's not go to a big flop, Tommy. Big flop. I've gone for George Russell.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Now George Russell has not had a good time at the British Grand Prix, his home race. He's had quite poor form here, actually. I've got the results. I've got the receipts. I've got the receipts. I've bought them. Last year finished 10th, year before DNF, year before that fifth, year before that DNF, and year before that 12th. So George has never got a podium here.
Starting point is 00:03:54 He's had a, I think he even said, not one of his favorite tracks. but look in terms of his driving style I'm sure it is his favourite track in terms of his home crowd and really wants to achieve a podium or a victory but I've looked at history
Starting point is 00:04:11 and gone for George Russell of course this is more bold driving the best car on the grid and having just won the last race but gone for George okay interesting my big flop Pierre Gazley
Starting point is 00:04:24 now he has scored on five, no, six, sorry, of the eight races so far this year. And I thought I would just throw another name out. Someone different. Because we always, I always tend to go for someone from the top four teams and it never works. And I feel like something that I went on a serious run of form with previously with Big Flops was I never went for the big dogs.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I never even uttered their names and I just went for a midfifference. fielder and their car would break down. That was just the easiest point ever most times. You're going back to 23. Yeah, I'm reverting to some different tactics here. I'm sorry, Pierre. I don't think he's actually going to perform badly. But that's who I've put into the mix.
Starting point is 00:05:15 You've gone for two Frenchmen with good surprise and flop. I've gone for two Englishmen, surprise and flop. Wow. Wow, look at us. Look at the trends going. Will we include another French and Englishman who will find out in Sprint Pole? Go on, I can't.
Starting point is 00:05:32 You can do it. My Sprint pole position person, I don't know why I decided to add more P's into that, but I do a love alliteration. Is Kimmy Antonelli. Sprint pole, Kimmy Antonelli. I don't believe the hype that Ferrari will be better around here. Tommy tried to console me during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend
Starting point is 00:05:53 that, you know, Silver. Silverstone's coming up and Hamilton literally said, Silverstone's a power circuit as well, so I'm not sure how we're going to go there. Of course, there are more corners than Austria. Don't get me wrong, but there aren't enough corners for me to think that anything's going to happen
Starting point is 00:06:08 other than a Mercedes pole position, so I've gone for Kimmy Antonelli. And no, Charles LeClaire will not be uttered, or will he? Oh, I had also gone for Kimmy Antonelli. I could tell by your face expression. So gutted. I feel like Kim is going to be very strong around here,
Starting point is 00:06:24 so I will change my mind. Will I go for my flop towards Russell? No, I'm going to go for Max Verstappen, hedging all the bets here. This weekend, Red Bull have definitely found something with their new upgrades. There was always a bit of concern with Max saying about how you're just driving around with a flat battery
Starting point is 00:06:50 in his post-race comments around Silverstone, but I'm unsure whether that was more him kind of roasting the regs again or actually a reflection on Red Bull's performance, I think probably the former. So yeah, I'm going to go for Max to get a sprint pole position. And Max Sestappen, of course, he's one of those people that straight out the blocks, limited practice, just gets it done. Gets it done indeed. And technically, if we were to analyse what he said there around the battery,
Starting point is 00:07:23 if there is no battery and there's no battery for everybody, well, Red Bull have the best internal combustion engine, and therefore Max Verstappen is winning all. So if you break it down, it makes a lot of sense. Be brave. Yeah, that's a good backup prediction, I would say, and one that scares me greatly. Let's now go to Sprint Winner.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Sprint Winner. Oh, he's changing on the fly. What's going on here? Why is he pausing? No. What's going on here? Kimmy Antonelli. I'm going for Kimi Antenelli.
Starting point is 00:07:53 He was my initial pick. I was thinking about changing it. to Max again but no I'll stick with my initial pick and I will let you change yours because yeah Mercedes Kimmy Kimmy last last race of course it's had a couple of races now where he's not one but he was still incredibly quick in Spain got into second before the breakdown and then of course very very quick in Austria as well had he not messed up that that start or had not had the bad luck in qualifying, could well have easily won. So I think Kimmy Antonelli, his pace is still phenomenal and looking like the quickest driver out there this year.
Starting point is 00:08:34 So gone for Kimmy's sprint winner. Well, as very clearly on my facial expressions, I had gone also for Kimmy Antonelli's sprint winner. So instead, completely left field here, George Russell, sprint winner. Although Tommy has flopped him, it's, I think I'm... Although I flopped him, he's driving a Mercedes. that has won every race. Exactly, exactly. So I think it's a safe bet.
Starting point is 00:09:00 I did consider a Max Verstapp and Sprint win. Will he be the same sort of speed as we saw around the Red Bull Ring where he is a monster? We will have to wait and see. But I'm going to go with George. I feel more comfortable with that prediction. Pole position. Kimmy Antonelli.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I actually had written down George Russell. I've changed it. I've changed it. After us talking about how mighty Kimmy Antonelli is, why would I be like, oh, maybe I'll go slightly different just because it's fun. No, I'm seven points behind. Lock in, Matt. Why have I put good surprise Estebanok on?
Starting point is 00:09:40 What is wrong with me? But the thing is, you know, a little bit of content. Tommy goes Lewis Hamilton. I'm like, well, what's the point now? I'm going to lock in. I'm going to say Mercedes for everything for the rest of the season. I won't. But right now, that's how I feel.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I feel emotional. I feel, you know, angry, Tommy, actually, with you. and how the precedent you've set. So I've gone for Kimmy Antonelli, poll position. Paul position, I had Kimmy Antonelli. I'm going to do exactly the same thing and go for Max Verstappen. Wow.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Change it to Maxx. Guys, it's such good content. Well, I mean, Max Verstap and Paul Position, it would be crazy, I guess. Yeah, I love how we've not had a single poll position or win for Max Verstappen. Or anyone but, Mark? I don't believe so. No, surely not.
Starting point is 00:10:27 No. No. So yeah. In Austria, they get me started. Yeah. Well, yeah, exactly. So now I'll go for Max, because yeah, I think he's going to have a good one around Silverstone, despite what he said about how much potentially doesn't like what the circuit is going to be and maybe lost a bit of the Silverstone magic. Indeed, let's go to the top three for the main Grand Prix, starting with third position. P3. I've gone for Max for Stappen. Don't tell me you've got to change it. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:11:04 This is worrying. Okay. Are we just doing the same prediction? Well, like, this is great content. Let's just go for the same thing. Yeah. Our similar brains work great for qualifying and raised reviews. But it comes to predictions.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Not as exciting. No, not as great. I'm going to go for Max for Stappen. I could see him getting on the podium again. I nearly went higher up, but I am going for Max. P3, yeah. P3, yeah. In P3 year, for me, I have gone four, changed after I had Max.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton, I fear, is going to demolish Charlotte Clare this weekend. That's my concern. And he has been doing very well, as we know. Lewis has been phenomenal these last few Grand Prix and has been the lead Ferrari driver. And, you know, there is not a single circuit that I would pick above this of where I would not want to go as a Chalachler fan up against Lewis Hamilton in the same car. Silverstone is his stomping ground. He is unreal around here.
Starting point is 00:12:18 And I'm really scared to see what kind of margin he'll put on him. Hopefully I'm wrong. I will genuinely fist pump if Ferrari are really slow, but Charlotte has six. than Lewis Hamilton's seventh. You know? Like, yeah, go on, Charles. Great bounce back. But I don't see the bounce back
Starting point is 00:12:33 happening this weekend. So Lewis Hamilton, third. And you probably can imagine, again, Charlotte Clair's not going to be second or first in my predictions. Or will he? Maybe I'll change it. I mean, spoiler. I just gave a reasoning as to what I think is going to happen.
Starting point is 00:12:46 In second position. Sharp. George Russell. George Russell, P2. I'm doing pure tactics here because I know that Tommy's going to steal the one person I want to have. in first position so instead i'm going to have to make him think a little bit harder for his p2 so that's what i'm doing george russell second position second position i've gone for kimmy antonelli
Starting point is 00:13:12 da da da da da da da tony tomish has just given me 10 points we love to see yeah i've gone for kimmy antonlelly p2 i do think kimmy's going to be absolutely mighty around here um but just had that that feeling that maybe delusion or something a bit different i mean i think he is going to be going to be absolutely, like, so rapid around her. I think it was suit Kimmy. He's so confident in that, in that Merck. But no, I'm going for Kimmy P2.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Wow, he's opened the door for what I would only assume to be one driver, but we'll see what you say. In first position, Tommy, who are you locking in? P1, I've gone for George Russell. My big flop. Yeah, gone for George Russell. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no rules, no against it. You are the biggest park the bus, horrible human I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:14:12 What are you doing? Heading my bets. No, you're trying to protect a seven-point lead with eight rounds gone. No, no, I just, you know, it's just sensible. I mean, I've gone for Max the Staff and Paul position. I could have gone for George and all of them and just been boring. Say it with your chest. Say it with you.
Starting point is 00:14:32 No, I've got to go for George. You've already admitted you're wrong. I hope everybody sitting there listening and watching is going. I hope Tommy doesn't score that many points this week because he's genuinely going against his own opinion. Yeah, exactly. He is my big flop, but he's also driving the class of the field and could still very much take the win. And Mercedes could well be rapid if everyone's running out of battery. And there are just such deployment kings, the Mercedes car and drivers.
Starting point is 00:15:04 So there we go. Deployment Kings. Yeah, Deployment Kings. That's going to be an F-1 graphic one. That was banned. Yeah, that's going to definitely stick. Well, don't make. In first position, because Tommy has allowed it.
Starting point is 00:15:14 He's opened the door, and I'm going to come steaming through Kimmy Antonelli. Because he's lost a lot of points over the last couple of weekends. A bit of a reliability issue, a bit of a scruffy one in Austria, but still showed significant pace. And should Mercedes give him a car that doesn't break down, which is something that has happened quite a lot across a lot of the Mercedes running teams, then I think Kimmy will be the fastest driver and car combination this weekend. And that's why I've gone for Kimmy, because I need points. Please Kimmy, beat George.
Starting point is 00:15:49 So Tommy doesn't score loads of points, even though he flopped George, which is just disgraceful. Right, let's go to P-WAT. And I've seen people actually saying that the way I'm saying it is wrong, it's actually something you're saying FWAT, which is how... I would say P-WAT. No, it's not one word, is it? It's like P-1 instead of P-W-W-A-T.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Just banter in it, though. I'm just saying, like, how would you pronounce P-W-H-A-T? That's one word? Yeah. Watt, yeah. What did you say? Anyway, right, roll the number. Roll the number, Tommy, between 4 and 22,
Starting point is 00:16:30 and we have to guess on the fly who it's going to be, and I am so not ready for this. Who's going for you this time, isn't it? It's me, it's me. Okay, here we go. Okay. 13th. Ha, ah, ah, ah, carlo science.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Colapinto. Okay. All right. Nice. Fair enough. P13. So you went for sites? Sensible, sensible guesses from basically.
Starting point is 00:16:55 I don't know why. I think it's the time pressure that makes me start like almost screaming. Yeah. But it's really pressure. It's really big pressure. It is. I like it. I like this.
Starting point is 00:17:04 It puts it on the spot. Can't think about parking the bus. Exactly. All right, we now move swiftly on to one crazy prediction. Tommy? Mine is, Sergio Perez gets into Q2 or SQ2, so a Q2. Got two bites of the cherry this week. And he's not done that, has he?
Starting point is 00:17:24 And he's not done it so far. He's been very close a few times and like it could happen. No, exactly. Because my goodness gracious me, they were not getting enough airflow, were they? We're not. Okay, interesting. I was going to say maybe it's a bit cool. It's all right of silverstone, but not at the moment.
Starting point is 00:17:40 No, no, it's actually, well, shall we do a live weather look at BBC weather? Silverstone next Sunday, 27 degrees. And pure sun. I just sneezed my microphone out of the way for anyone that was watching. Oh, I missed that because I was looking at the weather. That's staying in for sure. But there you go. Okay, it looks like it's going to be big old sun, which will be very interesting.
Starting point is 00:18:04 So my one crazy prediction. Lance Stroll will out qualify Fernando Alonzo Oh, he's done that, boring What you mean? It's been done. Oh, he's done it once. Yeah, he's done it now. He's done it once and therefore it's not crazy
Starting point is 00:18:19 over 43 races. Yeah, yeah, cool, cool, all right. Now, I've gone for it because I think Lance is finally getting into that groove now. I think he's in a really jelling with the car. Of course, as well as they said. They're so close to, you know. almost being lapped by Williams that they feel like it's happening now.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Yeah, yeah. Oh, maybe. No, actually, no. That is more likely than me going for a different one that just came into my head, which was that Fernando Alonzo without qualify anyone that isn't his teammate. Because I think they will be so slow. I think they will be, again, like a second off the back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:59 It is a big old power track. So, okay, I'm going to stick with that one. Lance Strull, come on. Get that. It will require probably a Fernando. Alonzo technical glitch but I'm locking it in
Starting point is 00:19:09 all the same it's like a it's an OG prediction that one one crazy Patreon prediction that's not what it's called the P1 Patreon prediction
Starting point is 00:19:17 and it usually is crazy because we try to pick ones that are a little bit left field so it's a bit fun I am up first P1 patron come and join ad free listening
Starting point is 00:19:25 access to Discord early access to tickets and so on and so forth and you can also be part of this Discord and submit a prediction to try and score us points I am locking
Starting point is 00:19:35 in The prediction from Chris Carey 5. The sprint race and the Grand Prix both have the same three drivers on the podium in brackets any order. Oh, that's a good one. Because that's not happened, does it? Well, it's not happened between races. We've not had a repeat podium over the whole eight races, which is quite a crazy thing. That's what I've gone for, which probably is not going to sort of point me towards a great race.
Starting point is 00:20:02 If we've got the same people on there, maybe dominating two Mercedes. and perhaps a Ferrari or a Red Bull but there you go that's what I'm locking in Tommy what's yours mine is from Max Goat-Stappen which is not my burner account and it is Max's first win at the season and this counts a sprint or race I assume
Starting point is 00:20:21 I guess yeah yeah yeah let's be let's clarify right now well they've not said it just has first win so I mean he's not won in anything this year because he's been disqualified from the nerve Gregon can't seem to catch a break that's true any win we take any W for Max this year For sure, for sure. And when you did your prediction at the start of the year about Max not winning,
Starting point is 00:20:41 was it Grand Prix? I didn't specify. I just said Max won a race or yeah. I will make sure that it means that it's cancelled out if he wins one sprint. There you go, perfect. Let's now go to Family Top 3, where I hope my mum has replied because I said, if it's now, sorry, off to Bowles Club in a minute was just walking Rosie. That's what she's just said to me.
Starting point is 00:21:02 So she's playing bowls, which means, Oh, Ellie is home. And I know I've definitely You can't do two in a row. I can't. Sorry, you've literally fielded your wife six times in a row.
Starting point is 00:21:15 No, I haven't. You kidding. No, we've never had the family. You've done back to me. No, no chance. I'm getting the receipts out. You've definitely had Katie that we've rung her and then you've gone,
Starting point is 00:21:25 I've now got a video of Katie. That's not a different Katie. That's the same Katie. I don't think it's the same. I don't think it was back to back weeks. All right. Okay. Well, let's jump,
Starting point is 00:21:35 my dad then, who doesn't know it's coming, and this is going to be interesting. All right, here we go. He's going to have no idea about this. He was over this morning, because it is my birthday at the time of recording. You're recorded? Yes, I am recording, Dad, because I am jump-scaring
Starting point is 00:21:50 you with Silverstone predictions, because apparently I'm not allowed to field Ellie, and I tried to field mum, and she said she's at Bowles. So, it's you. Can I have your third place, please? Lewis Hamilton. Okay. Second place. Are you good?
Starting point is 00:22:12 Falling down the well. Kimmy Antonelli P2 and in first place. George. Okay, so we've gone for a Mercedes-1-2 and Hamilton 3rd. I don't mind it. I went for that but basically the other way around with the two Mercedes drivers. Okay, perfect. Thank you, Dad, for doing that on the spot.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Thank you. Thank you. Love you, bye. Bye. My dad, I'm not even kidding. He struggles to buy for me for my birthday. which is today as time of recording
Starting point is 00:22:42 and I kid you not he got me about eight different Charleclair things Charleclair t-shirt another Charlotte Claire t-shirt a Charlotte-Clair mug a Charlotte-Clair card that said it was from Shal
Starting point is 00:22:53 I'm like that I really appreciate the Shal merch but like I do have other hobbies as well but no no it was it was cute and I will be wearing those t-shirts
Starting point is 00:23:04 on the podcast at some point later on I look forward to seeing them yeah you will indeed Okay, tell me, who are you for holding? I'm going to give my mum a call who will be in. She will be in. She will be at home.
Starting point is 00:23:18 I have chained her to her chair. I have actually asked if she's in this time. I'm not frantically ringing everyone. We need her to mention Charlotte Claire in the top three. She loves a Charlotte Claire mention. Solid balance. Hello, buddy.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Hi, Mom. You okay? Oh, wow. Are you out of the top? side? Is she at the top of a mountain? No, but I've got air conditioning on because it's so hot. Oh, okay, no, it's all right. You just broke up a second. I can hear you now. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Okay, can I get your top three for the British Grand Prix starting from P3? Oh, I haven't got any right for ages. Just because you go for Charlotte. Okay, Max. Okay, it's great. So it's my name. Antenelli. Okay, this is also mine.
Starting point is 00:24:09 second, yeah, Antonelli, and first? First, it's got to be Lewis. Okay, Lewis Hamilton. Oh, I thought she was going to have exactly the same. I thought you were going to go for the same predictions. I went for Max third, Kimmy, second, George first. Okay. Nice.
Starting point is 00:24:25 All right, thanks, ma'am. Okay, then. All right, bye. So she put Hamilton to win, but usually a Leclair Stan doesn't even put him in the top three. Yeah, she knows full well the last two British Grand Prix. that Charlotte Claire's had was 14th. Sorry, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:45 It's just the British Grand Prix thing. Yeah, all right. It will back, it, he, Charlotte Claire will bounce back at some point. Which is probably not Silverstone because it's been... No, no.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Even I don't have any delusion over, over Charlotte, not being on the, or having any delusion of him being on the point of stead of time. Will he go for the three Pete? Triple 14th places?
Starting point is 00:25:11 So the thing is, you said the three Pete banter, but there's many things that that could have been. So, yeah, I'm glad it was, yeah, three 14th places in a row. No, I don't want that. And to be fair, that would be very close to P-Watt then, wouldn't it? So that would be. What was that P-Watt again, 13th?
Starting point is 00:25:26 Well, I should imagine. Yeah, that would have been good banter, but you didn't. Oh, I missed an easy joke there, didn't they? You did, you did indeed. It had it been 14th, that would have been great. All right, that is it. Thank you, everybody for tuning in. Great to be back once more, the British Grand Prix.
Starting point is 00:25:41 We are going to be live on the main stage. 10.40 a.m. on the Sunday for half an hour. We'd love to see you guys there. If you are going. If you see us around, come and say hello. We're always very, very happy to see some P1ers out there. And yeah, come to our show so we don't have to perform to seven people. That'll be really lovely. And it looks like it's going to be great weather. So please, no reason to not come and see me and Tommy getting really excited ahead of the British Grand Prix. Tommy, final thoughts. Final thoughts. Can't wait for Silverstone. Can't wait to be there on the main stage and hopefully have an amazing show. It will be if weather is holds up, which looking so far so good.
Starting point is 00:26:18 And yeah, excited to see what Silverstone brings because it is a circuit that delivers us bangers, but of course very different regulations this year. So very curious to see how it goes. And at the sprint weekend, just to throw some more spice into the mix. Lots of action, frantic, chaos. We're ready for it. We'll see you soon. Lots of love.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Bye. Goodbye. and part of the ACAST created network.
