Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 Patreon podcast. Serious Literation with Matt and Tommy.
Starting point is 00:00:31 we are currently in New York City having just done our second live show of this North American tour and we thought we'd just check in with you and just give you a little update, hey, Tommy of what's been going on in the world of P1? Yeah, what an intro. That still doesn't sound real to say we've just done our New York show. I'm actually, I should have also said I'm actually in your bed right now. So P1 after dark could get serious. Could get seriously filth.
Starting point is 00:01:01 if this goes on. But yes, I'm currently in your hotel room, aren't I? Indeed, yeah. We normally have a bit of P1 after dark banter, but we've got the full experience now as doing a P1 after dark sharing a bed. We do have some retail rooms. You just stay over there, all right?
Starting point is 00:01:20 Stay about half a metre away. So to let you know what we've been up to, we flew over to Toronto a few days ago. had a day there to try desperately to get onto the time of Canada and then that next evening we had our first show which was in Toronto it was wow I mean I guess we can just sort of first thoughts of the venue itself the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto I think we had 540 people come along
Starting point is 00:01:52 which is absolutely ridiculous if you're one of those people Thank you so much for coming along. It was, without a doubt, I think, the most electric atmosphere I've ever experienced at a P1 live show. Everyone was so involved. We had amazing sort of audience participation. Everyone getting involved when we were throwing out some little opinions. We also had a segment, didn't we, of controversial opinions, where I went down in the crowd, and there were all kinds of crazy things being thrown about.
Starting point is 00:02:20 It was a lot of fun. It was an unbelievable experience. the venue was amazing as well. I mean, we've done a few P1 live shows. They never, you know, they never failed to make me surprised. And, you know, when we get the reception and all the kind words and people cheering when we come out on stage, but all my word,
Starting point is 00:02:44 that, it literally took me back to the very first live show we did at Leicester Square back in April last year. So a long time again, now where it was just so unexpected like the venue proper old school you know uh concert theatre very like compact the sound just booms and oh my words the the noise when we got out um on stage was it was just like overwhelming it was absolutely incredible like what a way to start uh essentially well it was our first show outside the UK yes it's funny actually I'm I've got a new Garmin watch because I started running, hey, and it monitors my heart rate, and so I can look
Starting point is 00:03:30 after the show and just see where I was peaking for heart rate, and I think before we went on, it was like 130, and I was just like absolutely just puffing at that point. But then when we went out, it was, yeah, absolutely stunning. So we had a lot of fun there. One thing we noted was that Canada do not claim Lance Stroll, according to the show that we were at. I won't say the entirety of Canada. I'm sure there are some Lance Strull. troll fans out there. But when we asked if there's any Lance stroll fans in the building, because it's very fair to ask, considering we were in
Starting point is 00:04:01 Toronto, people started booing. Not just silence, literal booing. Yeah, the US show was silent when we asked that and we do occasionally ask to see who supports who as we do. But yeah, it made sense in Canada. Lance being the only Canadian driver on and we're like,
Starting point is 00:04:21 let's see the reception here. And oh my word, And yeah, biggest takeaway from that was they are not a fan at all of Lance Stroll, but they love Nicholas LaTeefei. Big, big cheers for Nicholas Lerty. Go Tifi. He was a much-love character, even if he was, incredibly slow. So yeah, we did a meet-and-grate afterwards. We do a meeting-in-grit after every single show. We meet every person that queues up as long as the venue allows us to.
Starting point is 00:04:50 So that was really special as well. So thank you if you were in that queue and came and either gave us a little present or just shared a little story about how you started to watch the podcast. It's always very, very special and it's one of my favorite things, if not my favorite thing to do is the P1 shows and getting to meet some of you amazing listeners, watchers, whatever you do in terms of absorbing our content. It's a lot of fun. Yeah, definitely. It's always nice to meet people. Everyone was so welcoming and kind and it was so nice. to hear people say how kind of thankful they were for us to essentially, you know, fly out here.
Starting point is 00:05:27 I mean, it's absolutely our pleasure to be doing it. Incredible experience. Never thought we'd be touring in another, touring at all, never mind in another country, but how grateful everyone was and, you know, so happy to have you here in Canada and, you know, people were just really happy to see us. And we love hearing all the stories about how. people listen and what they enjoy about the podcast and why they love it. So a very special moment. And speaking of special moment, we have to talk about a coffee crisp. Oh, as if you were
Starting point is 00:06:04 going to say, I was going to tee that up beautifully and you've just gone and spoil what the treat was. That's crazy. So if you're not Canadian, I don't know how worldwide a coffee crisp is, but probably the best moment of my life, to be honest with you, trying one of those, like a wafery chocolate-y and obviously coffee-flavored chocolate wafel bar thing. Oh my God. I always used to love the, is it tunics, the caramel wafers ones? Oh, yeah, the caramel. The red or not gold.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Gosh, they're good. But coffee crisp, I fell to my knees before we went out for the Canadian show because it was absolutely stunning. And we had an amazing pizza out there, didn't we, in Toronto as well, which was a lot of fun. And as we mentioned, obviously, we've done two shows, Toronto, New York. We've got on to New York shortly. But if you're based in Chicago, Seattle, L.A., or Austin, or going to be there during the time that we're going to be there, then come along to the show.
Starting point is 00:07:02 We've been posting some clips. If you don't really know what to expect, that's a bit of fun, isn't it? Because we've not really had any bad reviews since we've done our UK or abroad live shows. So we'd love to see you there for sure, and it's a lot of fun. Definitely, yeah. It's always difficult to sort of explain what we're. We do. We share the odd clips of what we can, but, you know, we've said many times and we'll say it again that, of course, we are there sat down waffling about Formula One, but it's so
Starting point is 00:07:34 much more than just as sat there doing a podcast. There's, you know, the crowd's been unbelievable in these first two shows, really getting involved with the games that we play and the opinions and, you know, it was very cool, like you say, the first time we've sort of had you, like, running into the crowd and asking people in the crowd their opinions on things was a really, really cool thing. So yeah, it's always awesome to get you involved like we do in our main podcast. That's what we're all about. Yeah, so we left Canada and we now are in New York City. We flew over yesterday morning. So this comes to the end of our little teaser of our P1 Patreon podcast. Tickets are still available, as we mentioned for our shows in Chicago, Seattle, L.A. and Austin at the
