Starting point is 00:00:10 TV with MJ Holden and Jackie talking TV. And you know it's going to get wacky, because everybody knows that everyone knows. And everybody knows we're watching shows. We're talking TV with MJ Holden and Jackie. 31 for 31 is it in your brain? Are you spooky? Are you scared? Are you scared?
Starting point is 00:00:34 That is my question for both MJ and Holden while I know, you know what? I've said it somewhere else And I don't remember where I said it But how dare they Drop Love is Blind During spooky season? Truly. It makes me angry.
Starting point is 00:00:50 It's not fair. Yeah. I could only get seven episodes in Because I've got a 31 for 31 to complete. Yeah. How dare you love is blind do this to me? At least the Golden Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:01:03 It's one a week. Right. One a week I can do. One long movie a week, Jack. and those episodes are so long. So long. And I'm still trying to catch up with the circle because that's what Lexi wants to watch the most every night.
Starting point is 00:01:17 And I'm like pushing more for Golden or for Love is Blind. And then on top of that also also, also, but also, yes, all I want to do is watch scary movies. I want scary movies. No, this is our struggle. And I remember, because I remember coming back from your wedding, Jackie, which would have been right early November. and I had COVID and my husband did it.
Starting point is 00:01:41 From my wedding. From your wedding. I got COVID at your wedding and I had to be quarantined. Technically you got COVID from Florida. That's not my fault. Or probably from the airplane. And so I had COVID in any case. And Gideon and I had just started Love is Blind and we were so sad to not be able to
Starting point is 00:01:58 watch it together that we synchronized him in the living room, me in the bedroom. And we synchronized watching it on our separate TVs and then text each other throughout. That's so cute. And it was really sweet. And then this year, it's so sad, this is the first Love is Blind I'm watching without him, which is, he's probably thrilled because he's never been the biggest fan, but he watches them with me.
Starting point is 00:02:18 But there's just too much going on. When we're together, we're watching our scleries. And guess what? We're at 2 for 31. So our 31 for 31 is struggling, but we're trying, okay? We're trying valiantly. I feel like if you can reach the amount of children you have in the month of October of the amount of movies you watch,
Starting point is 00:02:35 I feel like that's completely accepted. Yes, yes. Because there, it's difficult for us to hit 31 for 31. Honestly, the only year we genuinely did it and then some was 2020. Right. In 2020, we watched, I think, 40-something movies. But now we have the opportunity as to dinks over here that like a week can usually find time where we will sit and watch like three movies in a row. Because we're, because it's also spooky season.
Starting point is 00:03:04 So you're out and doing spooky. things all the time. Yeah. Yeah. And I need to live my spooky life outside of just watching the movies, but it's difficult, but I appreciate you guys going along for the ride. And you guys are both trying to watch Spookies. Yeah, I'm at nine. Wow. Yeah, because I kind of got a little bit of ad-star up, but I'm counting it because, like, for Wizard of the Bruiser, right now we're doing an episode on The Mist, but we also covered Little Shop of Horrors. So I ended up watching, like, the original Black and White Roger Corman, like, B-movie Little Shop Horrors, and it's fun. Little Shop bars, the musical.
Starting point is 00:03:36 And then also, also, though, got to, I love how this worked out. I hit up Jackie the night before because it finally got like the bug, you know, to watch a bunch of scary movies. And I hit up Jackie literally being like, hey, when are you guys watching Terrifier for 31 for 31 because I really want to go? She's like literally tomorrow we're having people over. So I got to go over and we, I got to do something I miss so dearly, which is sit in a room with people and drink beer and scream at a really gory.
Starting point is 00:04:05 slasher horror movie. Oh, that sounds really fun. We had so much fun. Because that's the thing. I wanted to watch Terrifier, but like, I was like, I don't want to watch this one alone. And it's not because I'm scared. Like, I'm happy to watch, like, really scary movies alone. I just want to yell at the screen with people. I want to cheer for a good kill. I want to do the thing. Yes. And you do the whole thing. And now, Holden and I, neither one of us had ever seen Terrifier. And we then proceeded to the next day, go to see Terrifier 2. and Terror Fire 3 back to back in the movie theater. I'm jelly.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I guess jelly, although I don't think I do want four to half hours of pure terrifier. I don't know if that's what I need. The reason I'm bringing it up is that if you're AMC, because a lot of AMCs are doing like $5 movie, like $5 horror movies and they're doing, they're showing horror movies in the AMC, highly recommend it.
Starting point is 00:04:59 It is because like you said Holden, watching a horror movie is for me a, a community experience. I like everyone going like or like I like us all being together and feeling a bunch. I think it's my favorite.
Starting point is 00:05:15 I don't think. I know. It's my favorite way to watch a horror movie. Holden, you're so correct because I was like, the way I loved the Terrifier trilogy is insane because I did not.
Starting point is 00:05:28 The reason why I hadn't watched Terrifier up until this point was because I don't like torture porn. and I thought that I was going to hate it. Let me enlighten those of you that have not seen it. It's really not torture porn. It's splatterpunk. It is definitely way more schlocky, huge, like insane violence to a point that is ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:05:55 That it's actually rather, because I feel like there is a distinction between like a hostel where it's just like, and then with everybody's tea. and then we're going to cut off your cheeks. And I'm like, okay, yeah. It's not even because it upsets me. It's more just like, I think there's so many more fun ways to scare people than just that. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:18 And Terrifier is not that. I need everyone to know that David Howard Thornton that plays Art the Clown is unbelievable. So good. What an amazing performer. He is also a trained clown and mine. and he brings it to the character. The character of Art the Clown is such a good, fleshed out, fun character.
Starting point is 00:06:43 But not fleshed out because you don't really know that much about him, which is part of the font. He's really a mix between the, like, silent killers, like Jason and Mike Myers, with, like, the comic kind of, kind of more comical-based, like, Freddie. Because he doesn't talk, but he does all this, like, really great mime work and stuff, right? And so it's really well done. There's like so much fun to be had.
Starting point is 00:07:09 It's such, he totally belongs in that crew of great like slasher horror monsters. And I would even say too, like you say it's not torture porn. It definitely is extremely gory and over the top. Oh yes. It's very, it's very graphic. But applied to the slasher thing that I love that I, that's like what got me into horror movies was, like I said, there was a summer leading up to Friday versus Jaces where we watched, I watched every United Amendment Street and every Friday the 13th. And I was like, oh, I get this. This is, you know. I like those kind of slashes. And this does a really good job of bringing us like really, you know, kind of like it, gore and violence and in horror. Like we've just gotten to a point where you really got to bring it. You got to kind of go big or go
Starting point is 00:07:55 home if you want to be relevant in this space, I think, a lot of times. And they really do that in this. Or be small and still horrify people. You know. Like psychological or whatever. But I feel like in a, but this is trying, at least the first movie is trying to be an 80s throwback slasher. And I think if you're going to bring that to 2020, I don't even remember when
Starting point is 00:08:18 Terrifier 1 came out, but if you're going to bring that in 2016, 2010s, you've got to bring it. because we've just gotten so much so not only are the gore effects and the kills and everything so amazing with the special effects but you also, the slasher is so iconic as well
Starting point is 00:08:36 and so good. And that and also Lauren Lavera, the final girl like also the the girl that is in you know the second and third movie like as the lead scream queen she's wonderful. I genuinely enjoy watching
Starting point is 00:08:52 and Holden here's the thing. I know you're about to watch Terrify or 2. I actually, I either liked Terrify or two more than the first one or just as much. I really, really enjoyed the second one. They really kicked up a notch. And I'm really excited to watch it.
Starting point is 00:09:09 But it's still funny, though. And I love, and the third one being a Christmas movie is definitely going to be one of the, I love a Christmas horror movie. I think they're so fun. I think they're usually so over the top and this one is no different. The only thing that I was sad about and this, I don't even
Starting point is 00:09:31 think this spoil anything, there's this like little girl horrifying character in the second one that's like his little pal that nobody else can see. And I actually had a nightmare about that little girl. Like that character was in a nightmare of mine. She's such a, she's so good in it. And I don't know whatever this like, I'm going to say it, freak of nature, little girl that was able to kill this role. Must have been, like, and the fact that she wasn't scared of it and the fact that she just, like, did such a good job. Really, every year we usually watch a series and, you know, it was difficult getting through all the leprechauns. There's some that there's just a lot of there. But Terrifier 1, 2, and 3 was such a delight of a, again, Splatterhead.
Starting point is 00:10:24 So it is gory as hell. It's not for everybody. That's my shit, especially again with a group of people. Like, I feel like if anything, people shied me away from it, you know, to be like, oh, it's just a fucking, it's just so extreme. But Art the Clown is so good. Yeah, but I think he's like such a genuinely solid, you know, performance. And it's, again, I feel like it totally is iconic.
Starting point is 00:10:50 But, but, but, and a nice kind of refreshing spin. And it's, no, I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet on these because it's definitely like just an evolution of the shit I've really come to love when it comes to horror movies. So yeah, really, really happy to be going, man, we're just gonna really gonna be doing some tabs and watch it Terrify 2. Yeah, you're gonna have a bro-spirian watching Terrifier 2.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Honestly, that's the way to do it. It's my favorite when you're in these like a long series of movies for instance, the VHS Beyond came out this year. So the VHS movies are I really like found footage. And I also like anthology movies. And I think my favorite part is that, well, some of the stories are not going to be as good as other stories. And that's kind of usually how an anthology movie goes. But VHS Beyond, there were different ones about like different generations of time that they went into with VHS.
Starting point is 00:11:50 But VHS Beyond is about aliens. stories and every part of the anthology is very drastically different ideas of what aliens are. And it kept me excited. Every new story was like, oh, what is this one going to be? Oh, hell yeah, what is this one going to be? It's on Shudder. And as someone that like, I will watch every VHS movie, but, you know, I'm not usually screaming about them from the top of a mountain.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Every single one is not the best. But I really enjoyed VHS Beyond. Nice. Very cool. Sorry, I know that we've got, like, I'm not going to go through all of the individual horror movies that I watch. I promise I won't do this to you guys. I have a list, too, but I'm, you know, I'm just happy to be building up. But I just wanted to talk about terrifier specifically. And I think now it's time to bring MJ into the fold and speak towards love.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Yeah, let's talk about love is blind. I did watch my two movies that we've watched for 31 for 31 are Jennifer's body, which I had never seen before. and we're working our way through the original Salem's Lot, which I also have really been enjoying. I love that you're watching Salem's Lot, OG. That was what Gideon wanted to watch. Gideon and I have such different tastes in horror movies. What did you think of Jennifer's Body, though?
Starting point is 00:13:03 I love Jennifer's Body. Dude, I love Jennifer's Body. Oh, I understand why this is like, became an instant classic. Yes. Honestly, I'm such a dork. My first reaction, I was like, I want to read a lot of essays about this. I was like, I want to read about that. I want to read essays about when it came out, from when it came out.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I want to read retrospective essays. Like, it's so interesting. Honestly, hit us up. I was going to literally today ask for your horror video essays. I wanted people's recommendations for horror video essays because I watched one from a YouTube artist named Captain Christian. And it was called Growing Up in Silent Hill. And it was talking about all the movies that are, you know, like, you know, the movie,
Starting point is 00:13:45 and the video game, Silent Hill, where it's all like foggy, all like mountainous. but he grew up in an area very similar to the world of Silent Hill and talking about utilizing that in horror movies and things like that. And you're so right. I don't think you're weird at all, MJ, for wanting to watch video or listen to video essays or watch video essays about the horror movies. Because he's just like, where do they come up with these ideas? Like, let's talk more about this.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Let's get into this. Especially Jennifer's body, like, being a Diablo Cody film and like, being like, okay, this is like, we've got all. There's just so many things going to. out. I'm like, okay, we've got like hot, hot Megan Vox. We've got like men using this girl, sacrificing this girl to advance their career. We've got this like the dynamics of high school female friendship. Yes. We've got a horror as a high school girl. Like there's so many interesting things going on in this movie. By the way, I want to shout out again, another Diablo
Starting point is 00:14:37 Cody movie I talked about recently, perfect for Spooky season. Lisa Frankenstein was so much fun. And yeah, you boys in it with jug, jugies in it. So. And then people wanted us to shout out that Zelda Williams is Robin Williams' daughter. Oh, okay. Good name, Zelda. Yes. Well, he loved The Legend of Zelda. By the way, classically, Robin Williams was a huge fan of the video game.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Wow. I didn't know that. Yup. In every conflict, there's at least one bitch. A huge bitch, a silly bitch. A little baby bitch, a raggedy bitch. But sometimes it's unclear who the bitch is. I'm Kara Klank.
Starting point is 00:15:20 And I'm Jackie Zabrowski. And on our new Colin Advice podcast, we're going to help you figure out who's the bitch. We want to hear your problems, dilemmas, and quandaries. No topic is off limits. Does your coworker flirt with the boss to get ahead?
Starting point is 00:15:35 Is your bestie having her destination wedding on a holiday weekend? Is your therapist being clingy? Does your friend keep bringing her toddler to adult parties? Come on. There's definitely a bitch in your life and we want to hear a, about it. You can email us, DM us, leave us a voicemail, and even call in live to talk to us in person

But enough about movies. Let's talk about reality television and specifically the television series Love is Blind, which we are in. Jackie and I are on
Starting point is 00:16:38 episode seven. Holden, I don't know if you know how far in you are. Are you in Mexico? I'm not nearly as far in as you guys, but I do love knowing this drama now because it's really going to color so much of the going on. Oh, it certainly will. There's some scandals. Very happy to learn about the, the, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this scandal.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Very fun. Big, my, my, for, I just want to just set the scene on love is blind, um, this season of love is blind, which first of all, please, I really think they need to do it once a year and not twice year. Because I feel like we're, what made love is blind special is that it's not always on. And now it's just always on. But my overarching takeaway from this particular season and guys, just feel free to disagree with me. But I think that this is the.
Starting point is 00:17:21 the first season of Love is Blind where absolutely no one actually likes each other. I can't picture any of these people getting married. They are seething with resentment. Look at the way they look at each other. They despise each other. I cannot think of an exception. Really? Like everybody who you think every single person was disappointed when they saw that was it? No. Not even. No. I think that many people are getting the ick. Yes. There's a lot of it. There's a lot of like surprise icks coming. I feel like I need to bring up the cast. Yeah, I'm looking at the cast. Yeah, there's just all the, there's, of course there are the people who you can tell
Starting point is 00:17:58 immediately that don't like each other, like upon seeing each other. Like, thank God that art dealer is out of there, Leo. What do we feel about the fact that they didn't follow Leo and Brittany and the fact that they weren't asked to go to Mexico? I was so shocked that they didn't follow them. I think it was because it was so viscerally uncomfortable. That it was giving unhealthy. It was giving abusive man.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Leo is not okay. What happens? What happened? This dude, oh my God. Oh my God. So there's a love triangle. MJ, if you want to explain. I know the, I kind of got that going on.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I know Leo's a creep, but like, yeah. Yeah, extremely. Well, he's rich and you need to know. Yes. He needs to need to know. Apparently, he's really, really rich. Because a bunch of people died and he's so lucky. that they died.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Because now he's rich. How lucky he is that all of these people who were apparently very important in his life died thus making him rich. Dude, no, okay. So basically what happens is, and I honestly, I hope, maybe I'm giving the producers too much credit here, but I hope that they saw this one scene that did make it in. And then they were like, we have to cut this guy because he's going to trigger people. Because there is a scene where he's in a love triangle with Hannah and that other girl.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Brittany. Brittany. And he's, you know, obviously. doing the thing where he's trying to have them both. But then Hannah, Hannah's also in a love triangle. And she's like, I think I'm not choosing you. I think I'm going with this other guy. And he starts screaming at her.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Screaming at her. Be raiding her. You can't. You won't. You can. Save her name over and over. Hannah, listen to me. Hannah, like, scary, scary. And also he, but like, also remember,
Starting point is 00:19:44 he was most likely like going to pick Brittany already. So this was the woman that was going to choose, He wasn't going to choose this woman. He just didn't want her to not. She rejected him. And he got, he went off. He was screaming it. Like, to the extent that I was like, I can't believe they left this in.
Starting point is 00:20:03 I cannot believe that this is so inappropriate. He should have been asked to leave immediately. It's really one of those things where, you know, we love reality here. But I was like, this is actually actively harmful. Like, this should not be normalized. You know, it was like that type of thing. Maybe they left it in to just show that. So they don't follow.
Starting point is 00:20:21 them to me because they definitely went to mexico no that well they didn't go to mexico he had promised her a trip to Miami afterwards because he's rich hold in i don't know if you remember this he's rich which they apparently did but what so basically you see the reveal between him and brittany meeting each other and brittany is like i think terrified of him she's like she has obviously already gotten the ick he she's not even the one he yelled at but she knows hannah comes to her he knows that he yelled at her though yeah and the one thing i talk all the time about how like reality now like really prioritized is like sisterhood in a way where like the sisters like the girls aren't being bitchy to each other. They're trying to all unite to be bitchy against the men.
Starting point is 00:20:57 And so Hannah, it is very cute. It is cute. And Hannah goes to her and she's like, you should know that he just said all these things to me about how like he wanted me. He didn't even care about you. So basically Brittany knows that this man is like a manipulator and that he just screamed at Hannah until she was like sobbing. And then Brittany is like, I guess I'll say yes to you.
Starting point is 00:21:15 And then it's like, it's so uncomfortable. Why would she say yes? And then they embrace it. And he's like kissing her and grab her. her in these really uncomfortable ways. It was the least pleasant experience I've ever had. On love is blind. I think that they just knew.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And I have, this is what she said to people. Brittany said, honestly, the first few days we had so much fun that was going to Miami, right? You have freedom. You're just out and about. You have your phone and you're just talking about all the good times that you just had. And then things start to get real. As things settle down, you're kind of like, okay, we're here. We're wearing my, you're wearing my ring on your finger.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Let's talk about this. We had a lot of conversations through the trip. Mutually came to the conclusion. You just didn't see a turn to marriage, but it's also essentially Zippo chemistry is what Brittany's saying. She was saying that you would tell she was not attracted to him whatsoever. We'd go to bed together and I'm like, nothing here. Just zero chemistry. That, of course, happened.
Starting point is 00:22:09 So, yeah. So anyway, that's what happened with Leo. He is a, like, that was like a legitimately, deeply unpleasant thing to watch. Yikes. And I'm so glad. I hope that the producers were like, we can't let this man continue to be on television. because he's like not a safe person. All of that aside,
Starting point is 00:22:26 so Jackie and I are both on episode seven, so we're at the point now where they're in Mexico, they're spending time together. And the reason I say that none of the people like each other is like, can anyone, Jackie, look at you, I guess, because Holden's not there yet, can you provide an example of a couple this season who you think, like where are the Brendan and Alexis, right?
Starting point is 00:22:47 Like, where are the people who are really actually? I think Taylor and Garrett can get there. I think that they can get there. I know. I know we both MJ and I both separately made a lot of fun of Garrett earlier off Mike. I work and I spearfish. Yeah. I know that she is, you know, leagues beyond him.
Starting point is 00:23:08 She's so hot. Maybe it could. She's so hot. But maybe it could work because they understand each other on such a fundamental level because they're both science or whatever. I don't know. It's possible. It's possible. And it seems like I will say he seems like a good guy. He does. He just seems very boring. He just worked. He seems like a good guy. Also this season is like Washington, D.C. Because one of the other things that's interesting about this is that in the pods, they talk about who they voted for, which I feel like is really weird choice for reality. Like they talk about Trump and they talk like this one particular big curly-headed doofy guy is like, I voted for Trump in 2016, but I voted for Biden in 2020. I'm like, oh, you're one of the.
Starting point is 00:23:51 people that they talk about all the time. You're one of those. I was the name, Stephen. But I was really upset. I'm upset with Hannah so far in my seven episode experience because I was so geared up because Holden, this is Hannah and Nick
Starting point is 00:24:08 and Hannah was the other one for Leo in the triangle, right? We talked about Hannah last week being worried that she was like a little insecure because she's like a slightly different body type than the, you know, et cetera, et cetera. conventional bullshit. Is this going to be a similar thing from season six with that lady?
Starting point is 00:24:25 Well, except I think it might be the opposite that she, like, I was like, oh, God, because like this dude Nick, they call him Mr. Swave. Like he's got, he says everything right. He's got all the pickup lines. He's obvious, like most likely he's a player. And Hannah is so, like, I was like, oh, God, is he going to be into her? And it's her issue that he's too short. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:49 She's like, oh, I thought you were going to be big. Like you said that you played football. I thought you were going to be big. I thought you were going to be big. This blows me away. I don't quite get this. It's not okay. I don't understand why we have.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Why is this high thing such a important thing? I don't know. And if it is, okay, then you've got your things and that's all good. Don't go on a show called Love is Blind. Right. Yeah. Like, you just don't do it. There's a reason why I wouldn't be on a show like Love is Blind because I do, like, I want to
Starting point is 00:25:19 be sexually attracted to the person. And I don't even have a specific type. I have like, I mean, I've got many types. It's just, what if it's a Garrett? And if I saw Garrett at the other end of the hallway, I'd be like, oh no. And there's nothing wrong with Garrett. No, Garrett's just fine. I just don't have a boner for him.
Starting point is 00:25:38 I don't have a boner for him. You have to have a boner for the person you want to marry if you like boners. If you're a just not into each other either. I think you could tell she might not be that. Because everybody's fucking besides that. Everybody's fucking already. And it seemed, it's always the tell. And it seemed like just she's hot.
Starting point is 00:25:58 And I didn't even think he was not hot until Lexi was like, he's not hot. And I was like, really? Oh, I think it kind of has like a Chris Evansy thing going on, but in a spinly way. At one point, someone calls him, oh, that fucker, that piece of shit. He goes like, doesn't he look like middle class Chris Evans? Right guys? Right? But like, like not as good as Chris Evans.
Starting point is 00:26:17 like right by it. But that's the, and that was the sexting dude so that guy can fuck right off. Yeah, yeah, there's... Stephen. Stephen. Yeah, and Stephen's partner
Starting point is 00:26:30 despises him. I actually, I thought, they thought, I was ready for them. They seemed to really like each other. And then at some point she just starts to look at him like she wants to strangle. Eick. But then he handles,
Starting point is 00:26:41 we were rooting for Hannah last week, but in addition to her being like, he's a tiny man, which he's not even that. of a man. No, he's not. But she's just like one of these people where it's like,
Starting point is 00:26:53 bitch is my personality, you know? Like literally the bio on the website is, depending on who you ask, Hannah's lack of filter is either a blessing or a curse. It's a curse. It's a curse. It's not a blessing.
Starting point is 00:27:05 You're mean. That's my problem with Hannah is, honestly, I'm not attracted to Hannah's personality. Yeah. And I know in love is blind, there's no way I would have continued to talk to Hannah.
Starting point is 00:27:15 She's just a really mean person. and she's being really mean to Nick and she's making me root for Nick and Nick meanwhile is the one that yeah I didn't think I was going to right because he comes off like this big player but then actually when he meets her he's like I think you're beautiful and I want to make this work with you and I'm so glad you chose me and he's like
Starting point is 00:27:30 being really nice really into it and then he like talks to a woman and she's like wow you're disgusting like she's just she's so mean and I can't stand her and she doesn't want to have any fun yeah like that's like he's a fun loving dude.
Starting point is 00:27:47 She's too cool. Everything is believed her. Like, just doing fun activities. Like, he, there's these little, there's these little, like, the ducks on the beach. Oh, it's the ducks. There's like a, I think, I don't understand why they're there, but there are the size that a human could sit on them.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Could ride. And ride them in the sand, but they're not, they don't have wheels. So they're not really a ride-on toy. Yeah. But basically, I think it's a seat. I picture a duck you could sit on. And he's like, like a statue of a duck you could sit on. he's like, I'm going to go sit on those ducks.
Starting point is 00:28:18 And she's like, ew, don't do it. Ew, don't. It's going to give me the egg if you sit on those ducks. And he's like, I think it's funny. I'm going to go do it. And then she does it. And the whole time, she's just like, oh, my fucking god, this disgust. Why?
Starting point is 00:28:29 The guy on these fucking, I don't know. But then this, like, really attractive older woman comes over and she's like, oh, we're getting all the ducks. And then they both start, like, racing each other on the ducks and they're having so much fun. And she's like, oh, look at him. Look at him. Why did she dislike this? Because it's fun.
Starting point is 00:28:46 She just doesn't want to. She doesn't want to do it. She thinks it's like cute, but it's not cute. You know what she is? This is, she's the internet. She's being the internet. She made her personality the internet. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:29:00 Yeah, like, and I hate these people. I despise these people. But I'm kind of falling for Nick, though. Like the more, like, he's like, like, he's definitely feeling it. And it makes me like him more. Yeah. Yeah. Nick is coming off to be absolutely, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:29:15 And I mean. I don't think he likes her being a bitch. I think he doesn't mind. I think he's just more patient than I expected him to be. Absolutely what it is. Like a lot more patient than I expected him to be. Yes. And I thought Ashley and Tyler were going to make it.
Starting point is 00:29:29 But then I'm hearing about all this scandal that comes out that I'm not even at. Secret kids. Secret kids. Three secret kids. To be fair, he did tell her that he had kids, but it was. He called them sperm donor kids. Sperm donor kids. And he had no relationship with.
Starting point is 00:29:46 which is apparently not photographs of him celebrating Christmas with his kids and matching jammies. Why would you lie about the opposite of it?
Starting point is 00:29:56 You know what I mean? Like can you imagine the brain of a person that would lie about having a good or just a relationship with their children? Well,
Starting point is 00:30:06 that's not the person I want to be in a marriage with. It really shows you I think how compulsive lying works because like obviously this is a lie you can't maintain if you were to marry her.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Yeah. Also, didn't think about the fact that your kids are someday going to see the clip of you saying that they're sperm donor babies. Yeah. What's going to do for your relationship with that? Was that the beauty of the compulsive liar? They really truly live in the moment. They do live in the moment. They really don't think about, you know, any consequences of anything.
Starting point is 00:30:32 And surely aren't concerned about what happened in the past. They're trying to pretend it doesn't exist. Yeah. Yeah, it's really amazing. I am so blown away by how exhausting it would be to be a compulsive liar. And he seems like such a nice. guy. They are. They really, the only reason I took them out of the couple who seem to like each other, because they do seem to like each other. He's going to ruin a lot of lives in his lifetime. He's,
Starting point is 00:30:56 if this is the way he's going to be for, for the rest of it, he's really just. I really thought they were going to work together. Yeah. And I will say that maybe Marissa and, Ramsey's might like each other. I just can't tell. Oh, oh, no. No. Oh, no, no. I hear what happens with the two of them and in a couple of episodes. Let's just say he refuses to use condoms. And let's just like, was that a thing that happened? No, that was just a person that wouldn't have sex because he didn't want to get married. Oh, that's what it was. He just straight up refuses to use condoms. There was something else that Ramsey's is doing that everyone's like, oh no, oh no, girl, get away from him. Get away from him. Oh, no. I was really, I really like Ramsey's because he's like, his whole thing is like in the
Starting point is 00:31:42 pods. He's like, I'm kind of like not typically masculine. And, you know, I was really, I was really, I really like, And I'm afraid to show that side of myself. And she's like, even though she's like a Navy girl and she was like bonding with that Ukrainian guy about like the military. Who was also in the military. And then this guy is actively, which I understand against the military. Yeah. And he works at a justice reform nonprofit.
Starting point is 00:32:04 But he's like he is very like vulnerable about his like he like likes to embrace some like, like his feminine side. And he like, it was really worried that she wouldn't accept him for that. And it's really fun. to see that, like, relationship develop. But they're just one of those where I'm like, do you guys actually, like, feel attracted to each other and really like each other,
Starting point is 00:32:25 or are you just kind of trying to make it work because you're both really charismatic and, like, you kind of want it to work, you know? But it sounds like he's a badman and you can't trust the men who seem good. Show is so full of it. Never trust your hot wheel break. You guys are actually making me more excited to keep watching
Starting point is 00:32:42 as if they're all disasters. Yeah, I'm having fun. Oh, I'm having fun. I'm always bored at the part where it's like, yeah, they just worked out and they just love each other. And then they show and they keep dwelling on the people that see how it works out. And I'm like, oh, me. That's why you go to Married. You go to Married at first sight if you want that.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Like, if you want actual, like, possible love matches or at least closer to it, you go to Marry to first side. This is more for, we're here for the drama. Yeah. I mean, it's, I guess, I don't know if I'm here for the drama with the Golden Bachelorette, because I might just be here for the tears. Oh, my God. I haven't even. This episode was even sadder than the last episode.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I had to stop. I couldn't try. I think I'm out after the, after the thing where he was like, and she had blood coming out of her mouth. No, I love it. I love Chalk. I'm falling in love with Chalk.
Starting point is 00:33:35 You don't understand what Chalk is going through right now, okay? God. And he loves her, all right? And it's difficult. And they're all creating a brotherhood. And they're all like learning out of share and be emotionally open with each other for the first time
Starting point is 00:33:48 and they never were able to do it before. I'm obsessed with young, hot celebrities and musicians and stuff because we want to re-experience that. I'm not obsessed with old dying people because I'd rather just let that happen. They're not dying. They're thriving,
Starting point is 00:34:03 Holden, and that's what you need to realize. They're clearly dying. No, they're not. They're all thriving and they all love Joan. That's why they're crying every time they do something that just young, fun people do. that's why because they're thriving we're down to six men you don't understand we're down to six men where did all the back go six men oh yeah man they cut them hard and now we're down to six and joan is feeling a lot and i and joan still loves john all right literally yeah exactly yeah still love their
Starting point is 00:34:34 dead husband this is all this is more of a sham than love is fine the night before no she's not ready for this yet the night before she was crying she goes to all of them and in a group she starts crying about how like she needs them all to know that she still loves John and that even no matter what most likely the most they will ever get from her is 90% because there will always be a part of her that loves John. But then cut to I don't know 12 hours later and they're all doing like a strip tease for her on the like it was so the opposite of the like Chippendale's experience on Secret Life of Mormon Wives. Like it was just it was her and all these like. like thick daddies putting on this show for her.
Starting point is 00:35:19 I was like she was just like unbearably crying because of the love of her dead husband. But now, man, they are just rocking them peonies right in her face and they're all ripping off their shirts. And it's got to be difficult for Joan. I just think about Joan and what Jones going through and what Jones children are going through. And now I'm thinking about Chalk because Chalk lost his mother. All right. And her mother was just going through a bad time, and then they both held each other, and they cried for a really long time.
Starting point is 00:35:51 There was a lot of tears in this episode. I can't believe there's more than... So what are you getting out of this? Love it. I love it. I love the men. I love... I like watching them create...
Starting point is 00:36:04 Like, I think it's fun to watch these older, like, boomer-sus-hett men that are, like, for the first time, some of them starting to talk about their emotional. And I'm so fascinated by the brotherhood of all, like, all of them were, like, crying at the end as the other dudes were leaving because of like what, like, because they've all been like processing their trauma together. Yeah. Trapped in this house. Yeah. Talking about all of these big feelings for hours about hours a day. I'm fascinated by it. They've been forged in fire like Archie and Riverdale. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God, just like Archie and Riverdale. And that is why I'm going to. continue watching it and if Mark is a plant because someone was explaining further into like the plant situation. Oh yeah. Is that a and so that's the thing that happens in a lot of Bachelor. I guess. So it's like or to make sure there's one that you bring because like they always bring back the next bachelor the next year. Yeah, I didn't realize that like so it's usually it's almost always a contestant that was on the last season from a previous season that comes on as that they bring on.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Yes. So they're thinking that Mark is being set up to be that, which, maybe if it is, I'm here to watch a lot more where Mark is coming from. I tell you what. Okay, but before we run out of time, we also have to at Holden, I don't know if you're in on this yet because it was just me and Jackie texting, but you are going to be in on it now. I don't know if it's for Holden. I don't think this is for Holden. Nobody wants this, the Netflix.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Oh, yeah, I really want to want it. I haven't gotten into it yet, but I think I love Romantic Comics. Yeah, you like Rumcom. It's a good welcome. Yeah, I'm so all about. I just haven't had a time because of everything else. I really want to watch it. I've heard it's great.
Starting point is 00:37:50 People love it. It's way more ROM, I will say. I feel that it, but like, I love it. Do you love it? Yeah, I mean, a lot of people are really like, I am screaming for the return of the rom-com. I am absolutely loving, welcoming the great grand return. And it's cool to do it in a Netflix show.
Starting point is 00:38:11 I think that works. And that works better than a horror. series for a TV series. Also, it's great there. 23-minute episodes. Thank you so much. I also want to say thank you for writing a very relatable and not toxic. And maybe I say relatable because I'm a podcaster, but it is a not toxic relationship in your late 30s, early 40s. Or I'm not sure necessarily how old or like late 30s or early 40s-ish. And we don't get a lot of that. I I feel like our age group. Our age group is.
Starting point is 00:38:46 Everyone just assumes, oh, you're, or you're single and you have no chance and you never go. Like, I feel like there's a lot of that. And I, this was, it's so well written. And Adam Brody. Adam Brody is. Oh my. Very fine. Kristen Bell is great.
Starting point is 00:39:03 I got into like the type of Kristen Bell usually, but I really enjoy her, like sexually. But I really think that she is like. on her game in this show. And I want to say thank you to everybody that wrote in recommending that we watch. Nobody wants this because I had been seeing it places, but it wasn't until I got their recommendations. And thank you guys.
Starting point is 00:39:27 I love getting your recommendations, page seven podcast at gmail.com. And Hot Rabbi, the second, when she was so excited, because they go to this, like there's an episode where they go to a summer camp. And he was really excited. He's like, yeah, all the kids call me hot rabbi.
Starting point is 00:39:41 So I feel like this is going to give her a thrill. And then halfway through the episode, she finds out that all the teenagers call him hot rabbi. And she's like, I'm with the hot rabbi. Like, it's just because I would, you know, as someone that is a forever stand of the movie Keeping the Faith with Ben Stiller and Ed Norton. And, oh, God, what, Dharma. Jenna Elfman. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:03 I loved that movie. And I always wanted a hot rabbi. And this is, I feel like, where Fleabag gave us a hot priest. Nobody wants. This is giving us the hot rabbi. And I thank you both for your service. One thing I will say. So I started it on my own, but I started it and then I went to Gideon and I was like, Gideon, I think we need to watch this together. Because it is the show creator is a not, what started off as a non-Jewish person who fell in love with her now husband, who is Jewish and she converted to Judaism. And so she is now she's Jewish, but she didn't grow up in Jewish culture. And that is also, the show was about a, you know, a hot rabbi and a falling in love with a non-Jewish person.
Starting point is 00:40:54 And so I was like, I feel like I need Gideon's perspective on this. I will say there was a big piece at time that was pretty critical about the way that it portrays Jewish women. because it's a little bit stereotypical. That makes a lot of sense. I was more talking about well written in the terms of the love story. Oh, the love story. Yes.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Their communication and everything. Yes. But so that, so I only, I say that to say that if you have watched, like I'll come back next week with Gideon's perspective. But of course, none of the three of us are Jewish. I would love to hear people's perspective on that part of it. Yes, please. Just like it was striking to me when I was watching it.
Starting point is 00:41:34 I was like, besides keeping the faith, which I had forgotten about, I was like, it's weird to just like have kind of like a rom-com that is like half about Jewish culture. You know, it's like in a ton. Like, you know, but then also I was like, I wonder like how, I wonder like how this is landing, you know. And so I looked into it and my friend. I asked my friend group and one of my friends was like, how could a podcaster in her late 30s living in L.A. never hear the word shalom or shiks of that. Yes, there's a lot of that. It's kind of like Judaism. What's that?
Starting point is 00:42:10 Which actually was my life in like the Midwest in the, you know, 90s and 2000s. But is, you know, this in the in the 2020s in L.A. is kind of a. So anyway, that's all just to say, I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts on that aspect of it. But in terms of the aspect of the love story between them being extremely attracted to Adam Brody, who, by the way, I was just thinking about because of Jennifer's body. And also see...
Starting point is 00:42:34 Also, can we give it up for Timothy Simons, the dude that plays his brother? I know that he was in Veepe. Oh my God, Jonah from Veepe. Yes. And I never really thirsted for him in Veepe, but like, I thirsted for him in this. Good Lord.
Starting point is 00:42:44 It would be weird if you thirsted for him in Veepe. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm so thrilled to see him in something. He's one of my favorite. Oh my God. He is so funny. He's my favorite character in Beep.
Starting point is 00:42:53 He's great. And he's great in nobody wants this, too. So, so funny. But also just, I've been watching, even before I had started watching it, I'd seen a lot of the interviews between Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, like on their little press tours and their chemistry just as an actor is really sweet. So, like, I really, I really understand why people, especially our generation of people, is really loving it. But as always, we invite your perspectives, especially if you're Jewish and you're like, this is how I feel about the way that they're doing that part.
Starting point is 00:43:24 I think that this is bullshit. Now, also, though, do we, I ask this and I don't have the time to do it, but I would love to. do we need to start watching the OC? I know. Like, is this like, do I need more Adam Brody in my life? But I want old Adam Brody in my life. Yeah, I don't want teenage and I don't want young Adam Brody.
Starting point is 00:43:42 And I also... I've never really thirsted for him before either until nobody wants, like this is making me crazy bananas. I never thirsted for him either. And I never really was an OC person. Like I just, for some reason, I remember the ads. I remember the ads. And I remember like the general aesthetic of it.
Starting point is 00:44:00 But I never like, I'm sure I'm, I watched like many OCs like at my friends houses, you know, because it was just like part of our life. But I never like had an individual relationship with it. Same. Complete same. Like I've seen a bunch of episodes of the O.C. But I never actually sat and watched it. But it's weird because I just, I just watched Jennifer's body and then watched nobody wants this. And Adam Brody is just one of those men who is getting hotter like with age. Like I honestly don't think, I think he just looked like such a little boy when he was young. And there's just something about like slightly daddy or Adam Brody that is much, much hotter than young Adam Brody.
Starting point is 00:44:32 very much here for it. And I was like, I had to, like, I was like, MJ you must! And I'm glad you did. And I, like, for some reason, I'm just not in a rom-com era of my life right now and I didn't think I would enjoy it. But then I immediately was like, oh, this is nice.
Starting point is 00:44:48 Like, Willow from Succession is there. She's really funny. It's very well cast. And I agree, very well written in terms of, like, just the love story between them is really cute. And I almost converted what before I had the kids. Yeah, hell yeah. But I didn't have time to convert before I had to get it done before you.
Starting point is 00:45:09 Yeah, it takes it out. It's a lot of work. Yeah, it takes 10 months. So you got to plan that before you're pregnant. Yeah. And not just the time. It's just, yeah, and you got to learn a whole language and all this kind of business. Yeah, no, it's a, it's a lot.
Starting point is 00:45:21 You don't, you don't take it lightly. But I was, I was willing to, and I was kind of excited to look into it, but then I just ended up doing it. So that part is kind of, that's why I'm excited to watch it with Gideon. because we are the Kristen Dell and Adam Brody of this house. Oh my God, you got your own Adam Brody. You can say that the entire time while you're forcing him to watch it. You're like, but you're my Adam Brody while you're being forced to watch it, please. Also, shoutouts, I have not started yet.
Starting point is 00:45:49 I need to start it this week, but shoutouts to The Floor Season 2. My other co-host from the other podcast I do, Jake Young, is on the floor. Season two, it's on Hulu, and he is a contestant. It's like 100 people, I believe, on a floor. They each specialize in a different topic, and they have to go, like, head-to-head
Starting point is 00:46:15 against other people's specialized topic. Do they have to, like, debate? What do they do? I think it's, like, a quiz thing, but I think when you beat someone on their topic, you end up, like, taking on their topic moving forward. Whoa. I think the idea is, by the idea is,
Starting point is 00:46:30 the end, everyone's kind of out of sorts when it comes to their topics that they end up with. I'm really excited to watch it. And just the most important thing, Jake Young is literally on it. So check out season two of the floor. Got to check it out. On Hulu. He made an appearance in a commercial for it during the Detroit Lions game on Sunday. Oh my God. I was doing our Sunday study session for Whizbrood Patreon at the time. And literally like his phone started blowing up because all these people were like watching. The Lions game. That's so fun. That's so fun. Yeah, check it out.
Starting point is 00:47:04 We've got to check it out. The floor. His bigger moments are like coming up. I think there's three episodes out and he's, yeah, it's heating up. That is so funny. Well, the next one, the contestants face questions about vending machines, action movies, Gen Z, and more. Well, I don't think any of those three are his.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Not sure, but. Man, if it's Gen Z, can you imagine that's what Jake came out the gate with? We're like, well, you've known all this stuff for this amount of time. you just hid it all? Never shared any knowledge of Gen Z with us for the year we were on tour. Oh my God. Fucked up, Jake. Hosted by Rob Lowe, too.
Starting point is 00:47:39 That's awesome. Oh, hosted by Rob Lowe. And I couldn't believe that I'd never heard of this show before. But it is, it's like a Fox show. So it is a network show. And I feel like sometimes Hulu like Barry's stuff that is on the other network. Do you know what I mean? For sure.
Starting point is 00:47:58 And it's not fair. I had not heard of it either. I was like, is this like a game show in another country? And then it's like, oh, no, it's right here in America. No, right here. And there's a second season of it. There was a whole first season that came out earlier this year that I, so we got to check out this show.
Starting point is 00:48:14 We got to go support our Jake. I'm so happy for Jake. Yes. That's so cool. So much fun. That's awesome. And I will be coming back at you. I'm going to finally post my 31 for 31 if you wanted to check it out, just see what other
Starting point is 00:48:28 movies I'm getting into. And if you wanted me to talk about any of them, because, man, we are swallowing them down. And I will say, saw the 1932 freaks for the first time. And it was way better than I expected it to be because, again, it was made in 1932. And I was not expecting much from it or to just be like a horrific, like making fun of the actual people with disabilities that are in the movie. But actually, it's just like a really good nugget. It's like an hour long and just like creepy, fun in and out. You know me.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Any movie made in the 1930s is a yes from me, Doug. Oh, yeah, dude. I'm sure there's lots of problems with the making of the movie freaks, and you are more than welcome to let me know. I have not looked further into it. I just know that, like, that they were, like, heavily, like, asked to be a part of the making of it, like, of all of it. So I think, yeah, haven't looked that far into it.
Starting point is 00:49:28 But I enjoy it. Hell yeah. All right. Anything else? I have my list as well. I'll probably post it soon, but I'm, I might be more like a 20 for 31, but I'm on the hunt. We got time. As well.
Starting point is 00:49:40 And what's cool is right now my list is all things I have not seen. And I'm trying to have no repeats, except for The Mist and Little Shop of Horrors, because that's because of, that's what we're doing for Wizard and the Bruiser. Also, though, the Mist rules. So good. So good. Also, I'm going to go ahead and shout out Friday. the 13th part three. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:00 Because it has an 11% on rotten tomatoes and fuck that shit. Because Friday the 13th part three is when he gets the mask. And while some people are like, oh, it's just him like, it's just him like at a camp killing people. It's like, yeah, but it's a good one now. And it's where he
Starting point is 00:50:16 gets the ski mask. And I'm actually very sad that people think it's such a bad one. I kind of really liked it to a point that we, every year, we watch a Friday the 13th. So this our third year doing this rubric. But we're also going to watch Friday the 13th part four as well.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Because I had never seen part three. I had never seen part. I've never seen any of these, like this world of the Friday of 13th. And I'm really enjoying them. I'm loving your jazzed on part three because I think part four is my favorite of the entire series. Yeah, because it has Corey Feldman. The Friday the 13th part four is fucking phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:50:52 And so if you like three, also though, it is so crazy. you know that the most iconic thing about Friday the 13th is that ski mask and he does or hockey mask rather he doesn't have it until the third movie he's a potato sack he's not even in the first one and the second one it's a potato sack yeah he doesn't even get the ass till the third one how is that even possible that's the most iconic thing about the whole series it's so hard movies are fucking weird man it's it's really really bizarre but yeah it's you're i mean man if you like three which i agree is great.
