Starting point is 00:00:09 We're talking TV with Holden MJ and Jackie talking TV. And you know it's going to get wacky. Because everybody knows what everyone knows. And everybody knows. We're watching shows. We're talking shows. Talking TV with Holden and Jackie and Jackie. Man, I don't know how that gets put together.
Starting point is 00:00:32 I don't know how that works. I've already figured it out. I told you last week Holden MJ and Jackie. No, no, I just mean how April. How our lovely producer takes what just happened between the three of us and, like, puts it together in a way that doesn't sound like at fucking. April makes magic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Because that's magic. It's not the AMC ad. Yes. April's the magic. What April does is magic. And it's magic that we don't understand. Can I give a quick, I want to give a quick, quick heads up to everybody listening before we even get into this, all right? Because we were talking about wanting to find stuff.
Starting point is 00:01:09 watch at the same time. And I think we're, I think we're talking about getting on board, by the way. MJ and I need to catch up with you on Marriott's Seasons 17. What's that on Jackie? It is on. I just pay for it on Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime. You just bought the season. Yes. All right. So I think we might try to get on that. And I've already told, because this is, this was like my favorite thing to do. I was like, uh, Lexi, we're having a date night Wednesday. You know why? She's like, why? I was like, because I'm going to make you a nice, big, delicious dinner. And we're going to binge the fuck out of circle. I'm very excited.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Which the new season is dropping on Wednesday, literally tomorrow. And we're going to start binging it. And we will be talking about it. So if you want to be on the up and up for next week's talking TV on our general discussions, we will probably be talking quite a bit about the new season of the circle, since that is another one we can synchronize our watches too. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:05 We can all be checking it out at the same time. very excited to do that because it's like nothing makes Lexi happier and I love it too than watching the circle like it is her it is such catnip for her like it's just because it's reality it's competition it's got all the like little things even as like romance options at times right the best Netflix couple is from the circle not from any of the loved ones Alyssa and John and on top of that though there's not really much like insidiousness it's mostly like incredibly positive vibes, almost too positive at times.
Starting point is 00:02:43 It almost gets a little too gooey sometimes. They do like the dance parties and stuff. Honestly, oftentimes those things I fast forward through. I'm just like, I don't need to watch it. You get kind of bump past this. It's us having a party, but we're all in separate rooms. I don't know why get very annoyed by it. I'm like, all right.
Starting point is 00:02:59 It's, it's, I agree. That's why I brought it up. But other than that, it is just such a, like, it is such a sauna. You know what I mean? It is a spa. of a reality watch. And that's good. You can really relax with it.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Nothing too bad is going to happen. Yeah, it is. It's like, I feel really, really alive when love is blind is on. But the circle is just, it's just a higher quality premise, too. It's like more interesting. Yeah. I'm very excited for the circle to come back. I feel like it's been a minute since we had a new circle.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Yeah. I mean, if you aren't familiar, it is a bunch of people in separate apartments and they're all trying to like, it's like a social media reality show. They all have profile. and they only interact on profiles. Some people are catfish. It's a whole thing. And it's on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:03:44 And it's generally a pretty good time. And why ever be a catfish? It's never, it's clear now that they just force the people who have to be catfish and be catfish. They must force them. It's so much harder to pretend to be someone else. But it's always fun. You're guaranteed more screen time. So I think it really, because like if you are a character, you're going to get more screen time.
Starting point is 00:04:06 True, true, true. But besides that, how about, I know we got to get to Bluey, but last time we started me and UMJ, I kind of want to hear from Jackie first today. What do you got for us, Jackie? Oh, baby. What's you've been hooked on? Well, I mean, I won't start with all of the many horror movies
Starting point is 00:04:22 that I watched with my mother because my mother was in town. And my mom loves to watch horror movies. So that was a lot of what we did. So I'll start before my mother got into town. And that was finishing up, which I've been trying to push. I don't know if you've checked out any of season two, a physical 100,
Starting point is 00:04:41 but we did finish Physical 100, which was everything. That's my husband's catnip. That's the, like, I mean, we just ripped through Physical 100. And again, I learned so much, you fall in love with the, like, characters of it. You really are rooting for all of them.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Sometimes it breaks your heart. Yeah. And I love Physical 100, and I would watch every second. of anything they released that is like physical 100. Like, circles like wacky, silly reality competition.
Starting point is 00:05:13 I also, though, to counter that, like love how overdramatic and self-serious physical 100 is. It takes itself so seriously. It's like, it's the real squid game in a lot of ways.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Like, it's people put everything on the line. It's like always crazy. Because they're not going to die, but their dignity is going to die. And that is so much more important. in their culture. And I love,
Starting point is 00:05:38 because, like, no matter what, like, they are all, like, you've never seen human bodies work to 120%
Starting point is 00:05:46 the way you are watching these very strong people work until their bodies literally cannot function. Like, they, like, they push them to such exhaustion
Starting point is 00:05:57 that you're like, you're watching their, like, legs just give out because they can't do it. It's so crazy. But then, it's also so crazy to see what the physical body,
Starting point is 00:06:08 like what you're capable of. That like you watch it and you're like, how is this person going to do this? And then they do it. Yeah. So I'm obsessed with physical 100. I highly recommend that you check it out. And I mean,
Starting point is 00:06:22 I don't know if you want me to get into married at first. I see season 17. Set us up, Primus, because I think I want in. Yeah, because I think I'm going to join you too, but I haven't started yet. All right. For those of you that are newer talking TV,
Starting point is 00:06:36 maybe you didn't have Patreon in the past. I am obsessed with this show called Married at First Site. It is exactly what you imagine it is, except that they have experts, like, interview many, many people to set people up. And they do not see them until the other, like one person is walking down the aisle. And that is when they see them for the first time. This series, I dare say, and I think that I've seen every single series. I say series. What am I? U.K. It's just because I watched Taskmaster and I only refer to those series. And so I keep saying series. Anyway, I think that this might be the first season that I've
Starting point is 00:07:19 watched. I cried when they met, most of them. I think they did such a good job. And I couldn't wait to see. There was one couple that I was like, I don't know if they're going to like each other. and then they did. And then there was another couple that I was like, I don't know if they're going to be physically attracted to each other. And then they were. And it's just I, if there's one thing you know about me, I love, love.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And I now get the opportunity tonight. I'm so excited because Jeff is DMing his D&D campaign this evening, which means I get to sit and watch Meredith's sight for hours. Because I believe the end of the season, is coming out right now. So I like to wait until I can binge them. One thing I will let you know of. And I want everyone to be cautioned for some reason.
Starting point is 00:08:16 And I can't remember if this is on oxygen or if it's on one of, or if it's on like lifetime or something. In between every episode, they have an episode called the after party where they do like essentially like what other shows do at the end of the end of. the season where they have some people on and they talk about what happened in the episode. I don't watch any of those.
Starting point is 00:08:42 You don't have to watch them. Skip them. I immediately was like, actually, Jackie, I don't know if I can join you on this because 51 episodes popped up for season 17. But every other one. And also the first like four episodes are just them like going through the,
Starting point is 00:08:59 I know this is how dare I? But I watched all of this show, miss the first like two or three episodes, wait until they introduce the people because the first, I want to say two episodes are them like going through the process. Talking about meeting people in the city. Talking about the matchmakers,
Starting point is 00:09:17 which very interesting, don't get me wrong, but get me to the fuck. I want to meet them. Just jump to the mile high matrimony is what it looks like, see episode three. So pop right to that episode. And then the after parties start popping out. Then I might a la carte.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Well, no, it'll probably still end up being more expensive. I know, I did the math. I'm a bit of a grimes, and I did the math, and I was just like, I may as well just, I didn't want to, I don't, I'm sure that there's a way to get these illegally. I just have no idea how to do it. I want to watch it on my smart TV and not think about it too hard and, you know, just all paid a bunch. And for me, I'm just like, I'd rather, I'd rather. I also do have this annoying thing in me where I'm like, hey, I kind of want to, like, support this as much as it's like, you know. I love this.
Starting point is 00:10:02 another part of my pitch for people that have never watched Mary at First site before, it is more of a legitimate show than love is blind. They actually do, like there are a lot, a good amount of marriages that have come from it that people that have stayed together because
Starting point is 00:10:18 I'm so intrigued by the idea of matchmaking. Yeah, that's why it's better than love is blind. Right? You're saying exactly what you want and they try to find it for you. And there are some of these couples and I'm like, they're perfect for each other. But again, I literally just watched up until like they met the families.
Starting point is 00:10:39 So I'm only like, I think I'm in like episode like eight or or 10. It's every other episode. So I'm in, so, but it's really great. Like when you guys described this to me for the first time, I was like, it's, it's love is blind. How is this not love is blind? But the difference, right, is that love is blind. They're trying to find each other. So you still have the reveal when they see each other for the first.
Starting point is 00:11:02 time, but it's matchmakers very carefully being like, these are these people's values. This is what their lifestyle. Their values. Their morals. Right. Right. It's so, I don't, I, oh, oh, there's this one couple. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:18 I don't want to, I don't want to ruin it for you. But there's, I'll just say, there's this one couple in both of their cultures are very important to them. And they're of two different cultures. And both of them separately said, like, I don't care if they are my same culture. I just want them. have a culture and a family that they support. I don't care what it is.
Starting point is 00:11:36 And I was just like, I couldn't wait for them to meet. And they are hitting it off. Oh, my God. And they are hitting it off. And it may. And when he kisses her, it's at the altar. Heat. I was just like, okay.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Okay. All right. I think I might have to, it's hard for me to keep up with too many shows, but what I think I can do, Jackie, don't be offended. You can choose the circle. You're allowed. I'll allow it. No, because Gideon will watch the circle with me, so that's fine.
Starting point is 00:12:07 What I'm going to do, though, in terms of shows I watch on my own, I'm going to put Seeking Sister Wives on the Back burner just for now. Put Seeking Sister Wives on the Back burner. And I'm going to put Married at First Sight on the front burner. But I encourage it just specific. Well, I mean, both of the episodes are currently coming out. So, I mean, but I would say Married to First Sight just specifically because we can get Holden to watch that and we can't get Holden to watch Seeking Sister Wives.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Yeah, it's just, I can't do it. Oh, you can't do it? But hold on they have a giant bed that they all sleep. Look, honestly, I should be watching for a man's month, especially for the man that gets to be a stay-at-home. I saw a post on Reddit about this, by the way, I think, the main page that he's just somehow tricked four, three women into them working their asses off
Starting point is 00:12:54 to support the household and him getting to be a stay-at-home dad. For one child, and they have one giant bed. One-child. One child and one giant bed. I didn't know about the one child thing. Well, no, they do have another child, but that child is like 16. And how it's like... Oh, the other one's like, baby, baby, baby.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Okay, okay, okay. So it is hard work. It is a hard work. It's a hard job. Yes. But I'm going to guess when the mamas get home or the wives or whatever that there is any of them the actual mom or is it a child from a different? Okay, I'm pretty sure when the mom's,
Starting point is 00:13:31 the wives get home, they also do help out. I'm just going to guess. I mean, they work all day. Yeah, no, they, he's like, I'm not touching that child is what I would say. I said, get that child away from me. Don't you know I worked today? That's how it goes, right, guys? Is that what happens when you're a parent?
Starting point is 00:13:49 That's all you got to do. That's all you got to do. Oh, speaking of being parents, by the way, why don't we talk a little about Bluey, MJ? It's your time. Give us a slowdown. time to shine. Should I spoil it or not spoil it? I'm fine with you spoiling it. I'm already kind of spoiled on it because I read the article that Jackie, and I read it knowing I was going to read spoilers and that was okay. So I'm going to just say right now, if you, I will talk about
Starting point is 00:14:16 the new episode of Bluey, which is called The Sign. It's 28 minutes long. And it has nothing to do with the Ace of Bass song. Nothing to do with the Ace of Bass song, unfortunately. And so I am going to talk about what happens at the end of it. I assume that anyone, who cares a lot about Bluey has already seen it by now, but I just want to say that. So if you, I don't know, skip maybe five to 10 minutes ahead,
Starting point is 00:14:37 if you don't want to hear me talk about the end of this episode. But last week, a new Bluey drop that was a regular length, Bluey. And every Bluey is usually the kids playing an imaginative game. And either without the parents or with the parents. And the episode last week was the kids and dad were playing a game where dad was trying to sell the house.
Starting point is 00:14:59 And they, the kids were pretending to be grannies who lived in the house and didn't want the house to be sold, and the mom was pretending to be a potential home buyer. And so it's just a silly episode where the kids are trying to spoil the dads from selling the house. They're pretending there's a ghost in the house. Oh, there's a ghost of a house. And so that's what that episode was. But then at the very end of this episode that dropped, and also, mind you, if you're not familiar with the Blue Universe, they drop like 20 new episodes like once a year. It's not something where it's like it comes out every week. It's Australian public television. So I don't know how it works in Australia, but here in America,
Starting point is 00:15:34 there's usually, it would be like Disney plus New Blueies come out. It happens maybe twice, once or twice a year. And so it was like a big deal that a New Blueie dropped last week. Everyone was like, what the fuck? Everyone runs to watch it. And so the game, they're trying to sell a house. There's a ghost in the house. They do it. And then it, so it ends. Should I keep saying it? Keep saying it. There's a ghost in my house. And so then at the end, it's a ghost in the house. And so then at the end, it ends with the kids successfully stopping dad from selling the house in the game. But then dad says, but you guys, I can't do this every time. And then it zooms out from their house. I'm going to cry through this entire conversation. It zooms out from their house and there's a for sale sign in front of the house.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And that's how the episode from last week ends. And so everyone was like, what the fuck they're selling their house? Why? And so in this episode, we learned that they are in selling the house. And the reason that they're selling the house is because dad got a new job in a different city. And Bluey is saying, I don't want to leave. I don't want to leave. Why are we moving? And dad says, well, this is a job that pays more money. And I think that I can give you guys a better life. And Bluey says, but I don't want a better life. I want this life. And so Bluey goes to school and tells her friends that she's moving and they all start crying. And, um, I mean, I could, I'm gonna, I'm a, I miss, I'm already skipping a lot of like the, it's an extremely rich text. Everything that happens in this 28 minutes happens for a reason. It's like,
Starting point is 00:17:06 fucking Lord of the Rings. Like, and so, uh, but, but I'd love to hear what Gideon has to say about. But, uh, but, uh, so, so she tells her friends, but in that conversation, when she tells her friends, she's moving, one of her other friends, they're all talking about what's going on in their lives and one of the kids says, my dad and my mom got divorced and now my dad's lonely all the time. And then one of the other kids says,
Starting point is 00:17:29 my mom likes your dad. And it's just a little joke. And so also, meanwhile, the kids, aunt and uncle are getting married and they're getting married in the backyard. And as they're getting, all the little kids are practicing to be flower girls and basically the bride runs away,
Starting point is 00:17:49 tries to leave the wedding. and the kids think that if they pull up the sign from the front yard, then the house won't be for sale anymore. And the bride had said, I'm going to pull up the sign from the front yard just for the wedding because it's kind of an eyesore for pictures and stuff. So they think that the bride is going to help them stop the house from being on sale. But then the bride has a conversation with the groom where he had like made plans without her.
Starting point is 00:18:12 And she's like, you know what, I don't even know if this is going to work. I can't believe you did make this decision without me. And she runs off, runaway bride. So the mom throws up. all four kids. Oh my God. Mom throws all four kids in the car, goes to find the bride to try to save the marriage. While they're doing this, they stop. And the mom keeps reassuring Bluey. Bluey keeps saying, I don't want to move. I don't want to move. And the mom keeps saying, Bluey, it'll be a big adventure. It'll be a big adventure. And so they're talking. And the mom says something like, well, you don't know
Starting point is 00:18:43 what's going to happen with your marriage. I don't know what's going to happen with this move. I don't know if it's the right decision. And Bluey says, what do you mean? You keep telling me it'll be a grand adventure and the mom says, I don't know if that's true, Bluey. I'm just telling you that because I don't want you to be scared. I don't know if it's the right decision. And the bride is like, I don't know if this is the right decision. So then, because the bride had been hiding at her like favorite childhood spot that she had told her fiance about, he shows up. And she's like, how did you know I would be here? And he said, I know you. And so they reconnect. They decide that they do want to get married. The wedding's back on. They race back to the house. They do the wedding. It's like,
Starting point is 00:19:20 great. There's a bunch of little Easter eggs in there, including the fact that a character, the mom's sister who we met in earlier episode, who is, there's this whole episode in Bluey about infertility. The mom, the mom sister is, desperately wants children. Oh, God. I can't watch that, huh? All right. Good to know another episode I shouldn't watch. There's a, this devastating episode where this character named Brandy desperately wants children. And it's all, this is a kid's show. It's all subtext, right? Right. But it's there. And if you're an adult, you know what's happening. Yeah. And so she shows up to the wedding and she's pregnant. My kid screamed. I was Oh my God. I was in another room. I was in another room and Freddie goes,
Starting point is 00:20:00 mom's sister is pregnant and I ran it. And I was like, what? And we rewound. So there's the whole wedding scene. You're going to make me cry, Jay. I'm going to cry. But so I'm sorry, I'm going into so much detail, but it is, it is a perfect episode of television. So they do the whole wedding. It's moving. It's incredible. And then after the wedding, they're packing up their house. They're leaving. And the dad just keeps saying, I don't know if this is the right decision. I don't know if this is the right decision, but I just want to do right by the kids
Starting point is 00:20:30 and right by my family. They pack up the house. The kids watch everything move out of the house. They're really sad, but they're like, and the dad says to the mom, maybe I'm making a mistake. And mom says, maybe you are, but let's make it together. And you think like, okay, this is going to be an episode about how sometimes you have to do things in when you're a kid or when you're a family and you don't know if it's not what you want to do, but sometimes you just have to do it. That's what most moving episodes for kids are. You don't
Starting point is 00:20:55 want to do this, but you have to and it'll be okay. So they're all in the car. Everybody is sad. Meanwhile, they get a call from the real estate agents and the sale falls through because of another inside joke having to do with the dog's dad who had gotten divorced. But anyway, the sale falls through. And we see Dad is on the phone with a real estate agent who also is Murray from Flight of the Concord's. And the sail falls through. And all the family is in the car, all devastated. The house is all packed up. Dad is standing in the front yard next to the moving sign.
Starting point is 00:21:29 The sale falls through. He hangs up the phone and puts it in his pocket. He looks at the moving sign. He grabs it and he rips it out of the ground and throws it onto the floor. and the mom runs over and jumps on him in joy. And the kids get out of the car and jump on them in joy. And they're all so happy. And he decided that they'd rather be broke.
Starting point is 00:21:57 It's the only episode of children's television that I've ever seen where it's not just, sorry, this is sad and we have to do it anyway. He chooses that the better life for his family isn't the job with more money. And it's actually, this is why I'm. I think it's a show for adults. It's cool. It's actually a probably a bad show to show to kids who are moving. Because.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Yeah, like we could change it. Yeah, we can't change it. Right. Because it's actually not going to happen. Most families can't make that choice. And most families who are moving, it's not necessarily for, maybe they have to, or maybe they don't have the choice to stay. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:29 So it's actually not necessarily, but the, but the reason I think it's a show for parents is because the choices will more money necessarily give my kids a better life, or do I, can I, he still has a job, right? But the life they have here is what matters. And this, and he chooses the life they have instead of a life with more money. It is absolutely beautiful, beautiful television. Like, stunning.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I, I just cannot recommend it. Yeah, and I agree with you in terms of, like, I haven't seen the episode, but, but I agree with you. It's like one of the best shows in the business for just like, second to second storytelling that everything in it is like, it's just complete, the most like economically sound storytelling. Also, they get so much emotion. BPS.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Yeah. Emotions per minute. Yes, it is. Yeah, exactly. It's like adventure time in that way. It's like, how can an 11 minute show destroy me in multiple ways? It's an 11 minute show. That's done with precision.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Storkeling. That's done with absolute, like, no fat at all. Every second is important and useful. Adventure Time, another perfect show. I think it is a perfect show. Oh, yeah. And what I can't, what I can't believe about Bluey is that kids love it. Like, I truly think it's a show for adults, but kids love it. I actually am not always sure what kids get out of it, except that it's a great way. It really models imaginative play for them. Yeah, that is big one. I think the other one, like, So the animation style and just the look of everything is so simple and welcoming. And like it just, there's really nothing else like it in my opinion in terms of like how it looks and feels. That's why I wish the video game was better.
Starting point is 00:24:26 There is a bluey video game that came out. Really? And it looks just like the cartoon. It like is incredible looking. Yeah, it kind of reminds me of like the South Park. But I don't think it's actually like that great of a, which it would be so cool to get like a, really good, you know, if they could nail the same kind of vibe that they're able to hit. I just think it's just like a kid's video game. It's not really like they don't, they can't like
Starting point is 00:24:49 reach the depths like they can in the show emotionally and with storytelling. But yeah, it's, I think that's a big part of it. There's just a cleanness to like the linework in it that I really respect and appreciate as someone who just like likes animation. I just really like the and the color scheme. I mean, it's everything. It's like aesthetics. is so important to something like this. Yeah. And ultimately it's just, it's a show about,
Starting point is 00:25:15 every episode is a show about a family, like figuring out how to love each other and be with each other and be there for each other. And I think that's very meaningful to kids. It's big time parent goals and stuff. And I think another thing it's so appealing is, yeah, just how like, like these parents, you know, and especially the dad who kind of put,
Starting point is 00:25:37 but really both of them, they play into the kids' world on a level that most parents are, like, unable to achieve, right? Like, they're able to, like, and it's honestly inspired me for sure. Totally. Like, I lean in. I think it teaches parents how to parent. I, yes, and, and lean in on stuff, very much inspired by just watching episodes.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Be like, oh, right, like, the game just got created. It'll happen in a blink. and you got to go with it. You don't want to hold the game back. So we're just going to create the rules as we go. And like, you know, anything could become a game at any given second. Anything could become imagination land or whatever at any given second. So it's when I started doing like the old lady when I have tea party with Winnie.
Starting point is 00:26:26 That came, I think, from watching Bluey. Like, oh, I'll just like create a character and lean into a reality because they'll just go with a reality. They won't be like, hold on. Why are you talking? Dad, dad, why are you talking in a? British ladies accent all of a sudden. They're not, they'll just accept it. A hundred percent. You know what I mean? Yeah. So that stuff's really cool. I have the opposite thing to talk about. You want me to talk about it? Sure. Yes. Well, I decided to rewatch quiet on set. No, I'm just kidding. I wanted to talk about, you know, last night, I was just trying to figure out what to watch for this specifically.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Like, we've just been watching Drag Race and I just don't have a lot more to say about Drag Race. I'm hoping maybe next talking TV I'll have more to say because I believe the finale is this week, and I have to catch up on it, but I'll actually like, there's, it's a great season of drag race, definitely watch it. So I was looking around at what, you know, I looked at what's trending, and I landed on the TV series, The Gentleman, by Guy Ritchie. It just dropped on Netflix. What's funny about it is, A, we're really into it. We're going to keep watching it.
Starting point is 00:27:30 We passed out before the end of the first episode, but we really liked what we saw so far. B didn't realize until I like Googled it this morning. It's actually like a spin-off TV series based on the movie The Gentleman, which I have not seen, which I'm down to go back and watch. But it's Guy Ritchie. At the end of the day, it's a TV. It will, and also it's just, it's a TV version of his style, which is like British crime comedy. Yeah. That sounds fun. That's what he does. It's very charming. The gentleman is great. You should check out the gentleman. The movie. I will watch the movie. and the, but also you, I totally was able to like watch this.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I didn't feel like, oh, is this based on something? It was a fun, just because it's a fun movie. Yeah, it's a fun movie, but I will say, like, even if you did happen to just want to jump right into the TV show, it's like, fine. Like, you don't, like, you know, but I realize, like, so in the beginning of the gentleman TV show, the father has passed away, has a giant estate.
Starting point is 00:28:31 He leaves it to the, like, younger son, much to the older son's chagrin in the family. And the younger son's kind of been out of the loop. He's kind of coming in in a fun way, right? So he's discovering what dad's weird secret is, which is that he's been like essentially housing like a massive cannabis business like in secret, like in part of his property. That's like an operation run by like a criminal organization.
Starting point is 00:29:00 And so it's essentially him kind of inheriting dad's crazy. business and dealing with all these like different characters in this town that are all like connected to this like crime world. Very fun. Yes. You know, I think it's what I'm looking for now because it made me think of this because I just finished watching the live action one piece, which I definitely recommend. And I think it's scratching a new itch. I've realized where it's like, I don't want to watch like the crown per se, but I don't always want to watch like reality. Right. And I'm finding an in between me. mix of like this is just like a fun romp with silly characters, but the writing is solid,
Starting point is 00:29:40 but it's never going to get too heavy or heavy. And One Piece is a lot like that as well. One piece is based on the anime, which is based on the manga, prolific manga. There have been hundreds of chapters. There is like literally like a thousand episodes or something like that. There's like a thousand chapters at least. There's hundreds of episodes. And they decided to make a live action version. And the live action anime has been like a very tough nut to crack. They failed time after time. The live action death notes, terrible. Like, everything's really bad, usually.
Starting point is 00:30:09 And for once, some One Piece fans might disagree, but for once, this live action One Piece is actually people like, actually, this is a lot of fun and really good. And it is a world of pirates. It is like this kind of kid, Monkey D. Luffy, who's got this crazy power because he ate the gum, gum, fruit. It can punch people with a stretchy arm.
Starting point is 00:30:32 And he wants to become, like, the ultimate pirate. by finding the one piece. The one piece is this treasure that this, the greatest pirate of all time hid somewhere in the world before he died. And then he died and then told everybody about it, right? So it's this giant, epic adventure where it starts with just Monkey D. Luffy and he slowly acquires a full ship of like this big team of pirates, right?
Starting point is 00:30:54 That they're going to go around on these adventures and stuff in search of the one piece. And so a lot of it's about him slowly like adding members to his crew. Fun. You know. It's really fun. It's really over the top. It's like really fun, visual stuff, really fun characters. Silly-ass characters, right?
Starting point is 00:31:13 Like a clown pirate's, like one of his first, like, foes in the TV show. And maybe you just want to look, like Google Images, One Piece, Live Action. I mean, it's very over the top. It's very fun. And everyone takes themselves way too seriously. And it's great, you know, and it's silly. But it has a nice comedy bit. Gentlemen, kind of following in that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Not so, not as much anime, like, but still, really fun cast of characters, shenanigans happening. It's good. Honestly, yeah, there's a lot of this out right now. Honestly, if you want something in that same vein, check out Fallout on Amazon. Yeah, I need to watch that. Yeah, yeah. Tell us about Fallout. So I went in, and I, this is going out to anyone that knows Jackall about Fallout.
Starting point is 00:32:00 I didn't even, I knew that Fallout was a game. And that was about as far as I'd ever thought. Oh, Walt and Gaggins. Dude. Yes. He is so fun in this show. Okay. He plays an amazing character because like part of me, I mean, obviously it's called
Starting point is 00:32:20 Fallout, so I knew it was about, you know, some sort of nuclear blast. You assume that. But other than that, I didn't know, I had to wait, like, I think it was like, the second or third episode that I was like, Jeff, are these characters in the game or are they? And they're not characters in the game. I guess you can like play, you play as a, like, people that live in the vault and the vaults are underneath the ground. Like they were literally like put in there to save them from nuclear blast to like over generations. They're going to come back up and repopulate the world. So they've got essentially four rich people. Uh,
Starting point is 00:33:00 to go to so that they and their future generations can be saved from it. And everything above ground, the surfaces, if you will, is all filled with radiation. And Walton Goggins' character is, I will watch anything, Walton Goggins in it.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Yeah, I'm watching. We're watching Righteous Gemstones right now. Oh my God, baby Billings right. If you haven't watched, if you haven't watched jury duty, I think it's one of, I think it's my favorite role of his. He's in jury duty?
Starting point is 00:33:31 Oh my God. He is, right? It's Walton Duggins. I haven't seen Jerry Dutty. I don't think he's in jury duty. Oh, I thought it was, never mind. Am I thinking of a different actor? Yeah, I think that you're thinking of what's his name,
Starting point is 00:33:42 Hottie McCott. I forget what his name is. I'm gonna get the guy. Yeah, yeah, that guy. Okay, never mind. Well, anyways, I love him in, uh, righteous Jimstone. So good. It's like his character in it, too, just like evolves over the,
Starting point is 00:33:55 now I asked to Jeff because Jeff is way more like, knows on the internet when I was like, do video game people hate this? Or do they love it? Like, what do people? No, it's, it's kind of like one piece. It's getting really positive. Like, finally. So one piece, very similar actually. One piece live action with fallout because it's so, they just try to do a Halo show that was terrible or at least very borough snorro. It's a very tough nut to crack to like successfully adapt a video gamic experience to a tele-a-telemonic experience to a televisionic one. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:30 And like, and you know, we saw it with Last of Us, you know, that obviously like blew it out of the water. But what I like, but what I like about Fallout is that Last of Us was intense. And like a good drama as well as a suspense.
Starting point is 00:34:44 This is more schlocky. Okay. This is like, it's got fun violence. It's got fun music because it's all like 1950s music because like that's when like the blasts fell essentially. And like this is supposed to be like 200 years. later and so I just wanted to let anyone know that you if you know nothing about the video
Starting point is 00:35:05 game fallout it does not matter okay if you enjoy just fun writing fun music fun violence it does get upsetting at times it's violent there are I mean it's still you know you don't become a zombie when you get subjected to radiation poisoning I don't think but they do in this so you know don't you're not looking to it for information about what will happen after a nuclear blast by any means. But yeah, they do a good, like, the video game itself does a good job of, like, writing the line between, like, humor and action horror and all that good stuff. There's a tongue-in-cheekness to fall out.
Starting point is 00:35:46 It sounds like they're nailing with this TV show. It's a lot of fun, and I all, and I will say that, like, it just says a warning, MJ, I don't think you're going to get to this show, and I don't know if you ever should, or at least until the children are in full-time school. Same for you, Holden once Winnie's out of the house. Because every episode, even though, okay, you're like, oh, they're our long episodes. But they're our solid episodes.
Starting point is 00:36:10 And it's only eight episodes. But like a lot happens in it. So I feel like you'd have to watch every episode in like eight chunks. Uh-huh. Right, right. Yeah. Okay. Not that it's like, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:24 it's not going to break your brain kind of story that you wouldn't be able to follow it. but just saying. Okay, that's good to know. Also, you were thinking of James Marsden, who I kept thinking, Walton Gagons was in righteous gemstones. I was like, why is that like off-looking James Marsden? And I was like, oh, it's awesome-Gon-Ga-Moggings?
Starting point is 00:36:44 Looks like kind of off James Marston. I agree with that. They're only one year apart in age. Yeah, they have a similar weird-ish, similar-ish look. But anyways, yeah, my favorite part Walton Gagans ever played is James. James Marson and jury duty. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Think that about calls it. I'm excited for Circle Talk next week. Among other things, might try to check out Fallout as well. Married at First Sight, season 17. But either way, let's sing the song and call it a day. We're talking TV with Holden, MJ, and Jack and I'm talking TV. What?
Starting point is 00:37:20 I pulled out my earbuds because I can't sing it at the same time as you sing it or else like get offbeat. But then I was taking out my earplugs as I was. I was about to sing it and then song it improperly. Yeah, everyone has to hear me say that. We're talking TV with holding MJ and Jackie. We talk a TV and you know it's going to get wacky. Because everybody knows what everyone knows. And everybody knows we're watching shows.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Talking TV with holding MJ and Jackie. This show is made possible by listeners like you. Thanks to our ad sponsors. You can support our shows by supporting them. For more shows like the one you just listened to, go to lastpodcastnetwork.com.
