Kyle and I have been watching horror movies, or I guess you've been watching horror movie. The backgrounds. Oh, I watched like two a day. Like, we just happen to have seen the same horror movie at this point. Like, that's the rarity here.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Oh, okay. Well, I thought it was great. We're a few, like a month late on it because it's not even in theaters anymore. Yeah, backrooms. Yeah. I thought it was sick. Amazon. My living room. That's not what I'm asking. I bought it on Amazon. Amazon.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Is it funny? Is it a free stream? 20, right? Yeah, it was like 20 bucks to buy, but it was worth it because I'll end up watching that in the future. I thought it was good enough for an eventual rewatch. I didn't. No? Like, not that it wasn't good enough for an eventual rewatch, but that it didn't lend itself to
Starting point is 00:01:58 another rewatch I thought. I thought I didn't think there was any nuance I missed or like in a movie like long legs throughout the movie the literal devil is in the background in multiple scenes and you don't catch it the first time. You're like holy shit there was the devil in the reflection of that door just then what the fuck? This one I didn't think any of that was there. I liked it. I really liked it considering it's made by you know a YouTube internet creator who like has made I don't know how much money that they made like hundreds of millions of dollars. or something crazy. Was it market player? Is he the one that made that? No, no, that's ironed long. Oh, okay. That's ironed long, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:36 I haven't seen that yet, but I mean to. I don't think it's as well regarded as the backrooms, which everyone seems to really love. Let me see what the rotten tomatoes was for back rooms. I don't get the backrooms. Nothing could be more boring, right? Like, oh, imagine these yellow rooms that have gone dingy. Well, that's...
Starting point is 00:02:54 Well, there's more to it, then. Yeah. If it were just stinky rooms, then you'd be right. It would be pretty boring. Is the premise that all these back rooms secretly have portals to other dimensions or something? There's a lot of mystery left up to you during it, but basically the government is investigating this stuff. Maybe. Not really.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Or maybe some tangential government. It's a corporation. Yeah. So what the backrooms, so they definitely leave it up for interpretation and they make it mysterious. And so it really lends itself toward a sequel that I know they're going to make. I know they've already offered him a ton of money to make the sequel. But it's a mystery of what the backrooms are. It does seem to be some kind of a pocket dimension that spawned by either human thought or something.
Starting point is 00:03:55 like that because there were there were things in there that seemed like memories distorted there's monsters in there um i don't think that's a spoiler there's scary stuff in there that will kill you and tear you apart that was the scarier parts but uh i found that main actor's performance to be really good like yeah i liked him a lot there's two or three scenes where he really shows out. That therapy scene where the therapist has him like we're going to redo the argument.
Starting point is 00:04:27 They got you kicked out of your house. His wife has kicked him out of his house. He's living in his furniture store where he does commercials as a TV pirate and he's an architect. So this is a real low for him. And now his wife's kicked him out and they rehash this argument. He plays himself
Starting point is 00:04:43 and the therapist plays his wife. And halfway through it he loses control. And it's just like, I pay for your school. I pay for the power. I pay for this house. And, and, and, and, and, and for what? For a 30 year old to work for the first time in your life. So you can find it off your house and do something. And then what? You have a kid? And we're right back where we started. You're not working then, are you? And, and he's like, sorry. I, sorry. I lost a little control. It was powerful. That was so good. It, it felt real. I thought his performance was really good.
Starting point is 00:05:17 And in the back room stuff was cool, too. I like, I like. Yeah, if anything, there were times where it was like, oh man, it's been like 14 minutes of movie time and we're developing characters outside of the backrooms. Come on, can we please get back into the, into the fun area that's spooky? And it's just like, it's scary in like an unsettling way that really doesn't rely on jumps or anything. It's just good world building where there's disjointed, like stuff phasing into the walls. Like Kyle said, like it could be a memory or it could be that the rooms are creating mimics based on proximity outside of them of both people and items that don't make sense. It seems like the areas near the doorways into the back rooms bleed through into the back rooms
Starting point is 00:06:08 because his furniture store has a portal into the back rooms. And we saw that like one of the like furniture sale. like no interest advertisement signs had sort of bled through the ceiling and was just hanging from nothingness
Starting point is 00:06:25 in the in the like pop up ceiling they had. I interpret it that way that it's some kind of a pocket dimension where like the fabric of time is thin and there's a portal and something about human memory
Starting point is 00:06:39 or thought or powerful emotions bleeds into this place but they're misremembered. If you remember like your child's like living room or kitchen and then you try to like in your mind look around there'll be some dark voids or some spots where you're like i don't know what was there i if i had to render it i would probably leave it like opaque and misshapen because i don't know what was there if i if i drew something there i would be making it up at a whole cloth and there are things in the backrooms that
Starting point is 00:07:09 seem like that to me that's like i mean this is what a room would look like if you've if you created it with your memory and with zero creative creative thought Like obviously a door should be there and it should be a rectangle, but you just remember there's probably a door there and you don't know what it looked like at all. So the back rooms fills in the gaps with nonsense. Yeah. It's very good. I think you might enjoy it, Woody. I think I hate it.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I can't fucking hate a movie more. I can't care less. This is like hearing about somebody's dream. This whole backroom's bullshit that I've been in so many all of his backrooms. There's nothing there. It's just boredom. And that's what the movie seems to offer. I haven't seen the movie.
Starting point is 00:07:48 I'm a little curious as to, like, there's nothing more dull than backrooms, right? If I made a movie about office paper, that that would be the parallel to back rooms. What is this whole thing? I think maybe back rooms has a different meaning for you. What do you think a back room is?
Starting point is 00:08:04 Storage room in office or perhaps empty office rooms. Yeah, not at all. It's a total parallel, but not parallel dimension. Like, I think Kyle pocket dimension might be a good way to put it. It's like,
Starting point is 00:08:15 It's not like wandering through and seeing, yeah, there's stuff that will kill you in there. And it's not like just walking through seeing calendars like with, you know, Joe's birthday circled. It's like the memory of the memory of its attempt to mimic it is always wrong and it's unnerving. And stuff is clipped through the reality in incorrect ways. There's a good line that's spooky noises. You probably, I know you remember the line, but he describes it as it's like if you described a dog to someone who'd never seen a dog before and had no concept of a dog and then you had them draw it from your description it kind of looked right but there'd be some mistakes
Starting point is 00:08:56 there'd be some problems there'd be some wrong things and then there's the mystery part of it the part that like gets me going yeah is there's he gets to one part and there's like security cameras and the wire like goes up the wall and through a door that he can't access and that's clearly someone else's portal into the backrooms that is studying this thing. So there's a corporation that's quasi-revealed at one point and they're like, they're studying the backrooms, they're sending
Starting point is 00:09:24 explorers in and biohazard suits. They're doing all that stuff. The movie ends with these questions all unanswered. Some of them answered, but most of them not, because there's going to be more movies. And so, yeah, it's a mystery and a thriller and a horror. And so it's just an unnerving environment.
Starting point is 00:09:44 It's so different from any other horror environment I've seen on film that it was captivating in that way. It doesn't sound like you would like it, but it's not it's not like they're walking around bored. And the whole time is like, how do I get out? Like that's something I appreciate it about it was that in like the lore online, that same guy made these like really high quality videos. A lot of those, it's like there's never ever anything revealed that could kill them other than the environment itself being mimicked improperly and they could fall a million feet to their death if they misstep or something breaks unexpectedly. But in this, I liked that there were very few, if any times where someone who was in there didn't kind of remember how to get out and it was more the threat of either being followed, not knowing if that thing can come into your world or if it's trapped in here by some magic or like what is. what else is in here? Like, oh, that noise we just heard,
Starting point is 00:10:42 we've seen a little bit of that baddie, and that's not the noise that guy makes. So it's not just him bumbling about in here. You know, there's going to be other realities of perhaps even scarier things wandering through here, and they're all, you know, misshapen, misremembered. Yeah, are there any, like, monstrous? Memories in here of, like, alien monsters?
Starting point is 00:11:02 I don't know. Like, it was, it was fun. I'd give it, I'd give it a solid seven and a half out of ten. It was way better than average. Like I said, I watch a lot of horror movies. I probably watched one or two a day. And this has been one of the better ones I've seen in a while. I just didn't think it lent itself too much to a rewatch
Starting point is 00:11:21 because I really felt like I got it. Oh, I don't mean like in a month. I mean like maybe a year or so from now, I'm like, oh, I remember really liking that. And I'll put that on. I still own it. So may as well. I also think you're going to like obsession, Kyle.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Are you familiar with that one at all? Yeah, I don't know very much about it other than I think that there's a girl who's creepily obsessed with a guy and it's almost paranormal her obsession and creepiness. And that's kind of the extent of my knowledge of it. Yeah, that's it's also supernatural. And this happens so early. It's not giving anything away. So unless you're like a spoiler's freak, you're not going to mind. But it's this dude who's, you know, really obsessed with her.
Starting point is 00:12:06 and he buys this stupid little item at a corner store that's like a, oh, make a wish, you know, stupid nonsense. And he wishes for her to be obsessed with him. Oh. You know, the way he's obsessed with her. And a, you know, he's obviously is like, well, I was a stupid waste of 40 cents at the candy store I went to or whatever. And then it unfurls from there because there was more to it. It was apparently a real wish stick. And it's, I don't want to say any more than that because I really think you'll enjoy this one.
Starting point is 00:12:43 You might enjoy this one more than back rooms. Yeah, I think it's $10. I know it's free on Peacock if you have Peacock. Yeah, I think this one would be more up Woody's Alley too, if just the whole idea of the mystery and not having everything wrapped up in a bow of backrooms is, you know, not enticing to you. I thought they were both on the same level. I thought they were both some of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time because they were both unique.
Starting point is 00:13:11 And the main girl in that, maybe not quite as, no, I think she knocked out of the park the same way the black guy did in backrooms where he really stole the show. I want to see him in more things now. He's definitely going to get it more. Hollywood is like cramming Zendaya,
Starting point is 00:13:29 Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, and Pedro Pascal down our throats to the point where it's like, I saw a post the other day and it was like, is this how it was in the 80s? And they showed like a big quadrant view of all the stars from the 80s. And it was like, I think we had more stars in the 80s. Like we had more variety of actors doing things.
Starting point is 00:13:48 It just seems like those four people get, they're in the three big movie. Yeah, yeah. I remember Schwarzenegger and Stallone being crammed down our throats constantly. Well, that's just in one, those are genre pictures, though. Like, that's like saying Jackie Chan was crammed down your throat because he did.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Do you mean the action ones or the comedy ones that they both made? They were making so many movies all the time. Well, those two guys were definitely stars, but they were in their niche, right? They were doing action and comedy. They weren't, you wouldn't see them in, like Robert Pattinson is in all three of the big movies this year. Zentea is in two of them. Tom Holland is in at least two, maybe three of them. Like they're all in Dune, Odyssey.
Starting point is 00:14:31 you've got another Spider-Man coming out and then Batman. Like they're just, those are the people who are our stars and everything new. Yeah. I think you're probably how it used to be. Like those two, I'm trying to remember, were there any other stars in that air?
Starting point is 00:14:47 Like, aside from Schwarzenegger and Stallone, maybe a little, third rate. Like, like. Third right? About Bill Gibson? Oh, yeah, maybe. Maybe him, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Bruce Willis is third rate? As an action start? Yeah, absolutely. Like compared to Schwarzenegger and Stallone? Oh, no. You hear about die hard? Definitely not. Yeah, I'm talking about, yeah, yeah, diehard mostly.
Starting point is 00:15:11 But also, like, all the little action movies he did, like, he was constantly doing. What little action movie did he did? Hudson Hawk. Oh, okay, third rate. I haven't heard of that. I'm sorry, Mr. Ebert. Thank you for making my point for me. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I was struggling to come up with Hudson Hawk until. Until we got that. You're right, Commando and Terminator and Hudson Hawk are all the same level. Yeah. Commando's a really, really small movie. Commando was, I don't know if it was a big movie in terms of sales. I was the right age. So that movie, like, blew my mind.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Him with his LMGs that never ran out of bullets. And he had shoulder fired rockets and stuff. I love it. Uh-huh, uh-huh. That's a good movie. I love that movie. Like, like, I'm still, I'm still the kid that loves that movie. When I saw it for the first time, I loved it, and I watched it like a year ago, and I was like,
Starting point is 00:16:08 sportsnaker kicks ass. I think it was peak for its time. I don't know how campy and silly it is, like, through my adult eyes, but as a kid. It's not that bad. No, okay. You know, like, it's got, he mixes so much, he's so good at a certain brand of comedy. Like, he's not Robin Williams. He ain't Robin Williams, but he has his own comedic moments.
Starting point is 00:16:31 When he's holding Tully or Sully or whatever over the cliff, he's like, remember Sully? When I told you, I'd kill you last. That's right. You did that. You did? I lied. And they dropped him off the cliff. That's great.
Starting point is 00:16:45 I get to chuckle every time. He's making the girl drive him. I can't remember if he's making her drive him or if he's stealing her car with her in it. But he rips the whole seat out because he's such a massive man that you can't sit in the seat of this car. He has to sit in the floorboard and drive. And still, he looks like a normal human. being sitting in the floor driving this car.
Starting point is 00:17:03 The car flips over at one point and he's like, ah, and he just flips the car over with his bare hands back on its four tires and drives away. It's great. The whole person makes no sense. He's the most lethal man on the planet. And these guys are like, you know what we're going to do?
Starting point is 00:17:20 We're going to go kidnapping his daughter. He's going to get his daughter and make him do what we want. And he's just like, and there's literally a scene where the guy's like, we got you judge in that. So you're going to do what we want. right and he goes wrong and he shoots the guy in the forehead like that's it no negotiation wrong just kills him i like the lack of monologue it could be a surprise that you don't get a monologue before it yeah so when they do that i like it yeah yeah yeah yeah i love the swartznager action movie
Starting point is 00:17:51 era of the late early late early late 80s early 90s like um what's the one he did with james Cameron and Jamie Lee Curtis. True lies. True lies. James Cameron? I was thinking of Tom Arnold. Oh, okay. He's the director.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Tom Arnold was in the renowned classic, The Stupids. Tom Arnold was in true lies, I think. He killed in true lies. He still's up. He was like a disgruntled FBI agent or something. He's like he's like Schwarzenegger's Q or something.
Starting point is 00:18:27 He's the guy in the. van doing the technical work and doing the nerdy stuff but he's also there just cracking jokes the whole time it's just really good true life must be retired i haven't seen even like an ad for a movie with tom arnold in it in 15 years tom hollins taking all of his parts he was going to be spider man i would have seen the spider man he just looks just horrible in that suit just everyone knows who it is you'd see like his appendectomy scar through it and just whatever else you would have. Yeah. I think you're right though because I don't see many of those like big blockbuster movies like the superhero stuff or anything but it does feel like it's on repeat
Starting point is 00:19:09 where it's just the same four people. Did you see the doomsday trailer? I don't watch trailers. No. Well, it didn't reveal very much. You didn't even see Robert Downey Jr. in it in it. He's got a mask on, I guess. Yeah, I mean, maybe he was that guy in the man. I'm not even sure that was a human. That Could have just been CGI for all I know. I saw a freeze frame of it, and it's Dr. Doom holding up two fingers stopping Thor's hammer in mid-swing. And that's definitely Robert Downey Jr. Okay. Yeah, I do remember that.
Starting point is 00:19:41 It's CGI character that. Robert Downey Jr. is a bad guy now? Yeah, yeah. So they did some multiverse stuff, and I guess in one version of Earth, Robert Downey Jr. is Dr. Dune, who is a pretty big villain in the universe. Very fun guy. Yeah. His actual name is Dr. Dune. The trailer was basically, and this won't spoil a thing for you,
Starting point is 00:20:01 the trailer was basically Thor giving a speech about how's big a challenge they have in front of them. And then, uh, shucks, I hardly remember anything else. Maybe Dr. Doom stops the axe. Prime presents perfect pairings. What pairs with Reacher on Prime? Reaching for a sparkling punch delivered with Prime. It's an unbelievable feeling when you're enjoying a punch.
Starting point is 00:20:26 At the same time, preacher is enjoying punching people. Wow, he's still punching people. Entertainment meets fast delivery. It's on Prime. Griegousse believes in the art of living in choosing the pleasurable over the practical. It's why we craft our premium vodka in France
Starting point is 00:20:51 using pure spring water from Jensack. And why you hear the celebratory, club of our quirk reminding us to make every martini cocktail count so go on and make every moment count because there's no better time than now gregus make time wait sip responsibly yeah you're right here's that guy you were just saying is in everything the uh the red viper oh patro let's go yeah yeah he's in there too he's he's he's he's he's read richards from the fantastic four So they're melding all that in. He's,
Starting point is 00:21:28 uh, they should have read Richards before. I'm trying to remember. Uh, John Krasinski played Reed Richards before, but he played it in the, um, Dr.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Strange, Dr. Strange, multiverse of madness movie. Yeah, with Scarlet Witch. I felt like they took a, maybe just because I'm so disconnected and unplugged from the
Starting point is 00:21:49 Marvel world. Feels like they kind of tuned those down for a little bit. Are they like starting, Or, on purpose. The audience, they've been coming out. I agree.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I mean, you think about it, like there's been, I think I even missed a Spider-Man. There was a couple Spider-Man since end game. There was a Doctor Strange movie or two. I'm not even sure. And they just all didn't really make news like they used to prior to end-game.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Yeah, I can't name them all. But I agree. There's the Chinese guy with the magical rings on his arm. I didn't watch his movie. Oh, he had his own movie? I think there's like a, a Beast Master Man or something
Starting point is 00:22:28 like Coven the Infinite or some shit I don't even know There's the Thunderbolts They did their movie there's the Scarlet Witch movie which bled into the Thunderbolts movie I saw that Yeah that's all the TV shows
Starting point is 00:22:42 What they tried to do was they Leveraged the billions and billions of dollars From the original like end game Like buildup That was founded on like mostly The Avengers are almost all white right like almost all the Avengers are white dudes and white white
Starting point is 00:22:58 ladies Dr. Panther and the new Captain America I don't see out the new Captain America I'm talking about the end game Avengers who show up to do the big battle He's in that too I just didn't know his name Hawke and jumping yeah
Starting point is 00:23:13 yeah he's Eagle Man or the Hawk the Falcon he's the Falcon I think he's the Falcon yeah and all So him and Black Panther are black and
Starting point is 00:23:30 After that we start getting to Valky, she's Latina. War Machine, you're right? Your right. John Sheetles like, but all those guys are no-powered superheroes. They're just like, because War Machine has no powers and Falcon has no powers. They just have suits and tech from Tony Stark. So he can make anybody a superhero we put out. Black Panther, I think, has real powers.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Yeah, he has some sort of. magical Africa in addition to the suit. Yeah, some sort of... He has the super suit. Yeah. And Valky,
Starting point is 00:24:03 if you count her, has powers. Well, she's an alien. I don't count her. No. She's not Latino. She's just a tan alien
Starting point is 00:24:11 in my little mind. It's been so long since I've seen any of these, but doesn't that, doesn't Danny Trejo, isn't he like swinging electric cords at people at some point? Oh,
Starting point is 00:24:22 not Danny Trejo. That was Mickey Moore. Who was that? And that was, man two. That was, that was 15, 17. I literally just was like, who's that guy with all the, like, pockmarks and scars in his face? Mickey Roar. Probably, probably Danny Trejo. He was, you know what? I thought it was pretty close. It was close. Thank you. They built that multi-billion dollar franchise out of white superstars saving the day. And then they
Starting point is 00:24:48 were like, it's time to get diverse after end game. And then every project is black and Asian and gay people and they all failed just about and now they're trying to bring back the same magic by panic casting Robert Downey Jr. to be doomed. If you remember, they had the huge kerfuffle where they had,
Starting point is 00:25:08 can't think of the guy's name, he was the villain in the Loki TV show, Morbius, Mobius, one of those. He was the black guy. And then in real life, he sexually assaulted somebody or he raped. He did something like that. And then Marvel was fucked. They had used
Starting point is 00:25:25 a TV show and two movies, I think, to build this guy up as like the next Thanos. Because if you remember correctly, Thanos was teased in like three movies. Like his CGI changed over time. He was a different shade of purple at one point. It's like Thanos is coming. Like, you just get him at the very end.
Starting point is 00:25:41 They were doing the same thing with Mobius or Morbius or whatever his name is. And then he sex assaulted. And then they were stuck. They were like, oh, well, I guess it's not about that guy anymore because he's a sex best. So Robert Downey Jr., anyone? We got 50 million to spend?
Starting point is 00:25:57 I don't agree that Marvel's flopping because they're doing woke stuff. Because I think about Spider-Man, not doing, maybe it is doing well, but it's definitely all white. Well, Zendaya's not white. Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, that was all white. That sucked. I don't think those do well. Yeah. Thor, the new one, that was all white.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Tykeye or whatever. Ruined that. It was so stupid with the screaming goats. Yeah. That was more about emasculated white men and making them silly. See, that was... Jesus Christ. Can we...
Starting point is 00:26:26 Like, you guys are so fucking twisted. We see... I haven't seen any. We see between the lines, Woody. That's right. I don't know why I made both of you. Keep it up, boy, boy. Just, just eat it.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Eat up that. I think they're all gay. I'm like, yeah. I'm like, yeah, no. On the other hand, the Odyssey, apparently is killing it. Like, it's doing well in the theaters. The theaters are having, like, their best year since COVID. The critics love.
Starting point is 00:26:54 it. Ben Shapiro is loving it for whatever he counts, but he's just one of the guys who would criticize wokeness all the time. And he's like, you know, really everyone's fussing about minor characters. You got a few minutes of screen time. It was a great movie. I haven't seen it. Oh, I'm sure it's tremendous. Like I've never watched
Starting point is 00:27:10 a Christopher Nolan movie that I didn't think was a masterpiece. What was that one? What was the one? The colors. Where I was like, oh, if it's red or blue with the Ford and tenant. Oh, okay. I was like, that kind of sucks. I did not like. sucked. Yeah, I thought it was kind of, kind of lame. I told
Starting point is 00:27:28 this story before, but I watched that movie and I like read up on it in advance because I heard it was really complicated. And then the whole time I watched it, I acted like I was picking it up on my own. Like, yeah, I'm getting something with the red and the blue here. Did you notice this? I think they're moving backwards
Starting point is 00:27:44 right now. Your phones opened, the YouTube video paused. Captions on. Give me a list of insightful thoughts about Tenet. I didn't know what I didn't know what I was the great move that I disliked. Yeah, I didn't know what to think about Tenet.
Starting point is 00:28:03 I I liked it. I liked the both of the main actors. I think the black guy is Denzo Washington's son. I think he is. And then Robert Pattinson who just he's tremendous in everything.
Starting point is 00:28:17 I just calm down. I liked it, but I found it very confusing because I didn't watch anything beforehand. And then I watched a video after the fact that was supposed to explain to me what I'd just seen. And I guess I got it in that same way that
Starting point is 00:28:34 crime. Yeah, in the same way that I get time. Primer. You watch the explanatory video with the charts and stuff and you finally get your head wrapped around it and you can hang on to that understanding, that comprehension for only so long.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Because it's not like tomorrow you're going to go over it again. So a week from now you're like, What was that about? I've watched that movie a good four times, and I've read the Wikipedia page and seen a video about it, at least six. And every time I watch it, like, this time I'll fully get everything first time around. Nope. And then I read it afterwards. It's a struggle to understand, like, the cheat code to it.
Starting point is 00:29:16 And then, like Kyle said, a few days later, I don't understand that anymore. I don't think I could explain it to you guys. but I have in moments of my life understood that movie. Yeah, if I remember correctly, when you're inside of that little time machine box they made, time moves forward without you. But then it gets very convoluted, or at least difficult to understand, because there are multiple iterations of them tripping through time, and then the one guy goes secretly and trips through time without the other guy,
Starting point is 00:29:46 and they're seeing themselves go into the building from across the street in a car, and it's... Whichever one stays in the time doesn't move box earlier gains the advantage. And you're kind of like watching two people gain the advantage. But you can't go back farther. You just have to think of it now and start. Like Kyle said, you know, there's one where a guy's like listening to sports in his year. And then you find out he's actually listening to a replay of all of the scene from before.
Starting point is 00:30:14 It's complicated. It's clever. I'm proud of myself for merely understanding that movie briefly. Yeah. Doing the same watching hot time machine. I'm like, whoa, hold on. What time is it now? What do you set the temperature to?
Starting point is 00:30:33 Yeah, I don't think I ever fully grasped Tenet, but I think it annoyed me a little bit too. I mean, obviously the Dark Night trilogy is tremendous. I liked Oppenheimer. I didn't think it was like the end-all-be-all, but it came in a great time when the theaters had been empty for like 18 months or two years almost or something. The prestige is crazy good.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Dunkirk was amazing. Dunkirk's one of those movies that's really good on a good sound system because it has all those aerial. You thought that was amazing? I thought it was yeah. Is that the one that was all one shot? Am I mixing it up? Oh no, that's 1917. That might be. That's the World War I. Dunkirk is the movie about when the Brits entire army, the entire British army
Starting point is 00:31:16 was push back to like Calais or something. They're on the other side of. of the English Channel, and they're about to be captured. And so, like, Winston Churchill organizes the civilian boat program, like, like every boat with a sail, go get them. And then Tom Hardy's in the air, he's a, he's an RAF pilot, I think, providing, like, cover fire. And, like, he doesn't, he just got just enough fuel to get back, or he can provide cover
Starting point is 00:31:41 fire. He can't do both. And he provides the cover fire and crashes his plane into the ocean toward the end. Does he live? I think so. Yeah, he does, like, a nice, like, any landing on the ocean. Yeah, I remember.
Starting point is 00:31:53 World War II plane. He's able to go slow. A bunch of boats barely qualified to take people back and forth, but what you got to do, what you got to do. So, you know, it's risky. I remember that being good. Mementos, like a crazy mind fuck. That's a good time.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Momentos is a really good movie. I bet if you watch that forward, I've been told it's been re-edited with it. If you don't know Memento, you watch the last scene, then the second to last scene, etc. It's not in reverse. It's all forward time, but you go forward a little bit and then you jump back,
Starting point is 00:32:25 you know, two steps back, one step forward until you get to the beginning. And I think it's a pretty straightforward plot with no twists if you watch it forward. Probably a terrible movie if you watch it that way. Yeah. It's really relying on the mystery. The dude has no memory in Momento. So what he does is he makes notes to himself, he tattoos himself, things that he really, really needs to know.
Starting point is 00:32:48 but because the movie's told in reverse, you also have no memory. So you're kind of decoding it along with the main character. I have this right, right? Yeah. And it's kind of neat to how they impose like his disability upon us, not being able to remember anything and just going off of these notes. Like, oh, I wrote this.
Starting point is 00:33:08 This is me. I can trust me, right? I trust me. And trying to figure out who's safe, who's not safe. You see the prestige? That's his other movie. The prestige is about the two. dueling magicians in like, I don't know, time periods, maybe the early 1900s.
Starting point is 00:33:24 When magicians were a really big deal, I guess. Yeah, well, because when you see their show, you understand why. You know, it's Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are dueling magicians. They have like opposing acts across the street from one another. And Hugh Jackman is trying to understand how Christian Bale does his incredible disappearing magic trick. And I won't spoil anything. because the answer to that question is the whole movie. Basically, the whole movie is built around how, like, is he a magician?
Starting point is 00:33:58 Is he a wizard? Like, that's kind of going through character's minds at points. And it's a big, it's a good movie. I don't have seen that in years, because it's built around that premise entirely. Yeah, I didn't know that was Nolan. Yeah. I don't know the directors as much. Yeah, Dunkirk rocked.
Starting point is 00:34:18 That was awesome. And usually I go into, like at this point in time, after a jillion movies have been made about World War II, I'm always like, what are, like, this is going to be plug and play from some previous one. And I think it did a good job. I've only seen it once, and it was when it came out. But I remember leaving. I think I saw that in theaters, thinking that it was really good. Well, you'd never seen that covered before, like in any movie. I didn't know about Dunkirk.
Starting point is 00:34:43 I think that's more of a British sort of. big moment from the war clutching I wouldn't say victory but clutching a smaller defeat from a massive defeat with the way Churchill saved his army because the whole army was there like all of them there wasn't going to be anybody to fight the jerrys if they came across the channel after that and then when the
Starting point is 00:35:06 I can't remember who plays Winston Churchill might be Gary Oldman but he does an amazing job I like Winston Churchill as historical figure and I really like him in movies and TV shows because he was a drunk Chuck fat, uncouth bastard, who had somehow become the prime minister during wartime. And as soon as the,
Starting point is 00:35:26 and just crazy beloved had like fun viral moments back then. He was throwing up the deuses. Vival moments. Yeah, it was viral when he threw up the deucees. Nobody could believe it. And, but then like as soon as the war is over, we were a wartime prime minister. We don't need you anymore. It's kind of a sad story.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Gary Oldman is not fat enough to play him. You guys were talking about Gary Oldman, and I'm like, who's Gary Oldman? I'm picturing him in my mind. I'm picturing Gary Coleman. Are you familiar with this actor? Oh, yeah. What you're talking about, Woody? That's one.
Starting point is 00:36:00 And I'm like, he couldn't have possibly played Churchill, but they're saying. You know what's funny about that? Gary Oldman played a midget in a movie. Really? Yes. They put him in this little man like puppetry outfit, and he's a little midget in this movie. Maybe with McConae or somebody. He was really hurting for money.
Starting point is 00:36:18 He's had talked about it before. He's like, I wasn't getting work. You know, no one was taking me at my, my aughts, seriously. And I took the midget movie, yes. Welcome aboard via rail. Please sit and enjoy. Please sit and sip. Play.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Post. Taste. View. And enjoy. Via Rail, love the way. There's no shortcut for saving time. But saving money is simple. Just combine your car and home insurance with Bel Air Direct and save.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Get a quote at bellairdirect.com. It's called tiptoes. I did a video on YouTube. I think I said I met Mercadurka and in real life he looks like Gary Coleman. And he played along with it. He was like, why are you telling everybody? I look like a black midget from some sitcom I've never seen. Gary Olman's a real actor.
Starting point is 00:37:15 They're actors who just go and. They be themselves and we're happy with it because we like that. Like I like Sam Jackson. He's Sam Jackson and everything, though. And I'm okay with that. I don't think less of him than is an actor for that. I think, man, he brings that Sam Jackson energy to the screen, and I appreciate it in almost everything.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Gary Oldman's an actor. He becomes different human beings. In true romance, he's like a Rastafarian with like metal teeth. Oh, yeah. He's so scary. He's so scary. He's threatening to kill this guy. and maybe I'll kill her, your girl too,
Starting point is 00:37:50 and maybe I'll fuck your girl, and I'm going to kill your girl, and he's got all these henchmen. It's so scary. And then obviously he's Commissioner Gordon and Batman. Can you name an elite actor, who you'd put up there as Gary Oldman? I always named Philip Seymour Hoffman,
Starting point is 00:38:05 who's really attractive. Really attractive. John Hamm is a really good actor. I don't know if I'd put him in that elite status, but he's the first one that came to mind that's both a very good actor and a good-looking guy. Christian Bale. He's a really good actor.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Christian Bale is a very good actor. That mole on his face bothers me. I'd have to get that taken care of. He's got that big one right here on his nose. It's upsetting to look at. That's the best one I've got so far. I mean, that's it. I can't picture it now that you're saying it.
Starting point is 00:38:37 But that just... Look you're high. Right by the eye. You couldn't get rid of something like that too iconic. If you're a big-time actor, people would be like, what the hell? Why is he look different? The beauty bark on her lit model, I think, woman. Cindy Crawford.
Starting point is 00:38:52 That is who I'm thinking of, yeah. Yeah. I couldn't get Brooke Shields out of my head. I like Leo. I've always liked Leo, I think, more than you. I like The Revenant a lot when he's crawling and eating raw fish and like these huge glass crawling through the desert, the wilderness and everything. I thought that was a good performance. And then like, I don't know, I've seen him be different people.
Starting point is 00:39:14 whereas like his when he's playing Jordan Belfort and he's you know I know you don't like the Quayludes scene where he's crawling around trying to get into his car but like that whole like pompous attitude that he has the whole movie is very different
Starting point is 00:39:28 than like the unhinged detective from Shutter Island or the greedy white colonizer from Blood Diamond or any of those performances or the like scared mentally ill undercover guy from the departed who's just
Starting point is 00:39:44 vulnerable half the time and just so overly tough the rest of the time. Or the other scared mentally ill, quote-unquote undercover guy from Shutter Island? Well, he wasn't, well, kind of, but that's pretty different, right? Because I don't want to spoil Shutter Island, but. That was a really good movie. It's a reverse undercover operation. Yeah. Yeah, somehow to me, I can't.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Leonardo DiCaprio, Leo DiCaprio. He, uh, he's neither good looking enough to be in that conversation nor elite enough. Okay. He was cute as a kid. Sure. You know, growing pains and maybe up to Titanic. But nowadays, is he even handsome? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:28 He doesn't take care of himself. No. He's slowly turning into Jack Nicholson. Have you seen those photos of like him morphing into a younger Jack Nichol? It's shocking. And they know each other and they like hang out. So it's funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Yeah. Definitely between pictures. which I appreciate. I've seen people get Patty Pimble at a hard time for letting himself go a little, and it's like, that guy's a race car. Like, he can be a race car on six weeks notice whenever he wants. Let him be a little chubby and eat some pizza. It's so much discipline to be the guy that he is.
Starting point is 00:40:59 He gets a lot chubby. But I'm also with you. I've argued on Shaq's behalf that, like, not everybody gets to be their best self if they're constantly redlining their engine. And if you're Patty Pimble, John Jones is another one that got out of shape in between fights. But maybe that's just what's best for them. Yeah. What you're looking at?
Starting point is 00:41:26 The Discord over here, someone linked to. I'm trying to find pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio turning into Jack Nicholson. He still looks like a reasonably good looking guy to me. Are you looking at something up? Are you keeping up with House of the Dragon? Not to tell I will not be tricked again I think I'll watch it
Starting point is 00:41:47 You haven't watched any of it I don't think Jackie's that interested I need to talk her into it She watched the previous seasons Okay I don't know if all the episodes are directed by a woman But I know that like the one I watched last night Was I noticed that
Starting point is 00:42:01 I haven't looked too much into who the creators of the show are I know it's not D&D from the Lord of the Rings It gives you so much nostalgia And such good vibes people have complained about Game of Thrones, right? I'm talking about House of Dragons.
Starting point is 00:42:17 D and D. They made Lord of the... Oh, they did Lord of the... Yeah, Game of Thrones. My bad, my bad, my bad. Complaining them. They made Lord of the... Game of Thrones. House of the Dragon.
Starting point is 00:42:31 I know some people complained about the main actress who plays Rainira. She's the Targaryen queen, who's sort of central figure to this whole thing. The premise is this. The king is sick and dying. He has... has no male heir. He names a female heir. And that alone causes war. That's season one, right?
Starting point is 00:42:49 That's sort of the, but it's still going. Right, right, right, right. That's the, that's the, uh, the moment that throws the kingdom into war and schemes and they, because they'd had this big, like, safe, steady, happy period when Viseries, I think his name was. I don't remember the old king who died. When he was ruling, everything was kind of boring and people didn't think much of him, but there was peace. And then it's because he's named this female heir, everybody wants to be the king. You know, they're like, well, I'm the king's first cousin,
Starting point is 00:43:21 and I'm a man. So it should be me. And then they're guys, well, I'm the king's bastard. I'm the king's half-brother. And like everybody has, it's a bit like Game of Thrones where you've got multiple people vying for the kingdom.
Starting point is 00:43:36 And there's lots of scheming and lots of fucking and lots of, lots of good, lots of good dragon stuff. It's been very dragon heavy, like way more than Game of Thrones was even. There's big dragon battles with multiple dragon riders. Like,
Starting point is 00:43:51 in this time period, there's a lot of dragons. And there's, there's a wild dragon. And, and, like, is he big? He's enormous.
Starting point is 00:44:02 And he has, I don't know if he's the biggest because there's, because there are some truly gigantic ones, but he has an underbite. his bottom jaw protrudes way out. It's all ugly and gnarly and he's black and like and we have a real power struggle because it's like, well, we have four dragons and they have three.
Starting point is 00:44:18 It's very close. And if we could only, if we only had one more dragon, like we have dragons, but no dragon riders. And so they make a call to the kingdom. Like, do you think you might be the bastard son of a Targaryen? Well, we've got a job for you. We're looking for dragon riders. Show up at the castle.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Saturday night. That's that was last season, right? I think I've seen this part. Yeah, yeah. Well, you said you didn't see any of it, so I'm like filling you know. No, no, not the season. Oh, okay, I understand. I understand now. So they had this moment where they're getting new dragon riders like that
Starting point is 00:44:53 and the dragons are burning everyone. Yeah. None of these people are back. It's like 100 people in the set's amazing. It's a cave that's four or five stories tall inside. And I don't know why they volunteered for this if they thought they're odds of being a dragon rider were that low.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Because as soon as they get it, they're all running for their lives and trying to escape from dragons in a really confined space. You've seen Mr. Beast videos. This would be no different than that. If Mr. Beast put out a call today, hey, we're looking for a dragon rider. We've only got one.
Starting point is 00:45:26 And we've got a hundred contestants. They'd all show up and be like, I'm going to be the one. I'm a dragon whisperer at heart. I'm a horse girl. So I grew up on a farm. you'd have all the testimonials beforehand and then everybody just get burned a lot. But yeah, it's a good show.
Starting point is 00:45:44 I don't think it's, at first I was hesitant, Taylor, to get into it. This is more direct, this whole thing's been more directed toward you, I guess. Yeah, yeah, because I've seen like the first two episodes of season one. And I'm like, you know what, this hasn't sucked me in and I don't trust this universe anymore. Well, one of the things they're going to do if you only watch the first two episodes of season one is they're going to skip forward in time so significantly that the little girl who, the little blonde girl, who's the princess, becomes an, adult. Like they just recast her. And they did such a tremendous job. You're going to be like, oh, okay. Was they use a time machine or is this black magic to like make this girl like, she really looks like the same girl a lot. And they do a good job shifting the time for. They
Starting point is 00:46:25 keep some characters. Like if you're an old man, you're still going to be an old man in 10 years, you know. True. Hmm. Just an older man. I think it's good. I don't think it's great. It definitely doesn't like get you back to Game of Thrones you know, season three or something like that. But it's a good show worth watching. And they, I don't know what it costs, but it must be $10, $20 million an episode to get those dragons Cgi-I'd up. They had a big pirate battle a couple episodes ago
Starting point is 00:46:51 that was, it was what Blackwater Bay should have been way back when in season one or two of Game of Thrones where we just showed Tyrion's face as he viewed the battle. They do the battle this time. There's dragons like soaring in and out of pirate shit. ships roasting a hundred men at a time and the pirate ships are boarding each other and jumping on each other and fighting with couples. It's just not what it was culturally, you know?
Starting point is 00:47:13 Like, I don't feel like any show has been that way since Game of Thrones because, like, all my friends who loved Game of Thrones, like, when we used to hang out, and I guess it ended in, like, 2018 or something, like, it's been eight years now. Like, that used to be a topic. It'd be like me and my friend who had read all the books up till then, talking about, like, season four and being like, oh, don't tell them, Matt, you know, or they're going to, you know, figure it out, but oh, you know, they have some interesting theories. And like it was like you'd be at a barbecue and it would just come up like organically. And no TV show has stuck with the population
Starting point is 00:47:47 the way that has in the last decade. So whenever, whenever streaming took over and we got, you know, a million channels and everybody was on different apps and oh, oh, what, what's that even on? Everything, oh, I don't have Apple TV. So it's hard to get everybody on board with something now. And then prior to that when you had broadcast TV and everybody had four fucking channels, then all of a sudden I Love Lucy episodes. We're getting 15 or 20 million views an episode or something like that. So the only thing that comes close to me is Sopranos. Sopranos was a water cooler show.
Starting point is 00:48:18 I would listen to Jim Rome Sports Radio and he'd be talking about Meadow Soprano or he'd be talking about what Tony did this week or something like that. Same with Howard Stern. I'd hear him talking about the show. I think Prison Break was a water cooler show for a while, at least first season or two. When do you think Game of Thrones peaked? We all were really into it at one point.
Starting point is 00:48:40 But if you were to try to put your finger on the peak, the top of the wedding, I think was a big deal. That's a really good one. It's not mine. But I think that's probably right. That's season three, right? In popularity, I mean. Like I think the pop of the red wedding and everybody going online and being like, did you
Starting point is 00:48:56 see that? And then all the people who hadn't seen it feeling left out, get a little FOMO and then like, you know what, honey? I'm going to get a thing. So good. And now that you say it, the purple wedding might be my second. But the one I came up with on my own was when the mountain fought Oberyn, the snake, I guess, or whatever, the viper. And that fought, you know, he kept. What line did he keep saying about his sister? You raped her. You killed her children. Something like that. Yeah, yeah, because I was almost doing Princess Bride. You murdered my father. Now you have to die. That's not it. yeah but that fight scene was peak there were a couple all three of those are really good it did have a a peak because i was thinking when i first i was like is it the chaos is a ladder speech is it ned stark
Starting point is 00:49:46 getting decapitated all of these were like moments for greatness coming not necessarily the greatness delivered but the weddings and that fight scene that's greatness delivered the hodore episode when i hate hodore i'm the only guy who fucking hates every moment of hodore the guy's so fucking But his final scene, when it's revealed what Hodor means and that he's had this like time travel brain manipulation that retarded him and his whole purpose in life was to hold a door. Which he did poorly. They got away. They got away. He bought him like five seconds.
Starting point is 00:50:20 I got fucking sucks at holding doors. I've held doors longer. Brand retarded with crow magic. Yeah, he did. I mean, I think Red Wedding is the easy number one answer. sir. Yeah. Because I was in like, I think it was my senior year of college when that one came out. And like people were still coming over to my apartment. I had a big group of people over. We were all watching it that night. And only me and my one friend had had like read the books. And so like people were like sitting on the floor. Because I just had like my two shitty food my shitty couch, my shitty futon and like like everyone's watching. And one of my friends was like, why is Catlin looking like that? And one of us was like, she's always looking like that. And he's like, yeah, I guess so.
Starting point is 00:51:07 And just to keep going, and then like, you know, two minutes later, everybody's getting stabbed to death. And the whole apartment was spazzing out. That was the most fun social moment of watching that show. Yeah. I'm glad you had. That's a good experience. I watched the fight with the Red Viper and the Mountain with my girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:51:27 And I actually recorded her reaction because I knew what was going to happen. And it was great. we used to rewatch that all the time. Good for her just being like, oh, oh, no. No, boo, no. Yeah. It's like, oh, can't come back from that.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Can't come back from that either. Oh, no. It's out over it. Where's been at? Fuck. It's like, where? I guess it's okay to spoil this. When they stab her in the belly,
Starting point is 00:51:58 I'm like, that's just mean. Yeah. Oh, you're like a red wedding. Oh, yeah. Yeah. She's got to kill her anyway. Just do it a little quicker. Like she, I guess, got to experience them murdering the baby before she died herself.
Starting point is 00:52:15 Oh, my gosh. Yeah, it's rough. Super rough. That show was super rough. You know, it's hard. But for three seasons, we had hung all our hopes on this guy who was doing pretty well, like getting the revenge that Ned Stark deserved. And we're like, well, now what? Area? How's this going to work?
Starting point is 00:52:33 Yeah, we felt so lost. Now she's joining some weird cult. There was nobody to step up, it seems like, because John Snow was stuck at the wall, and Aria was a child and that other kid who's... He's not going to be in. I mean, the little bitty brother. Remember the little one who got shot in the back later on for, like, Benjin or something? I don't know. That's the uncle.
Starting point is 00:52:54 Benjin was the uncle, yeah. Yeah. I don't remember the littlest start. We'll call him Little Joe. Oh, my God. I can't remember. well that's how much he mattered in the end yeah
Starting point is 00:53:06 Benjamin was the you know the wall guy and I was always mad that you know John didn't put up more of a fight to like not go to the wall but it's like he just was kind of checked out where they're like what are we going to do about you brother and he's like oh go to the wall and he's like well hold on there are options he's like already already getting on his horse
Starting point is 00:53:26 yeah that makes no sense to me even especially looking back because now you know what the wall is and you know what this is about. Granted, maybe John Snow thought of it as like becoming a black knight north of the wall and the defender of men in the realms or whatever. And you get there and it's a bunch of like drunkards and throw away people. Like this is what they do to you. That's one step short of killing you. Like this is life in prison basically.
Starting point is 00:53:54 It's like thieves and fat. Open walled prison was I was going to say. Like you can't go anywhere. If I'm John Snow, I'm like, Father, perhaps I could own a stables or perhaps an inn. You do own the entire north. Could you build me an inn to run and I could train boys to fight with a sword and get a girlfriend? Lans Fand is going to go to prison in the wilderness. That's somehow even more north from a place they call the north.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Can they offer to Robert Stanthian? Help me with his name. Tarathian. Baratian, yeah. But it's not Robert. It's his brother. Anyway, he offers to make, Stanis offers to make him not a bastard anymore.
Starting point is 00:54:35 All he has to do is pledge his loyalty. But the king of the north doesn't do that, I guess. Guess not. Would have been a good deal. Stannis seemed pretty all about rules and regulations and whatnot. He was a pretty good man, pretty good, because he was willing to, you know, do some dark shit to get power.
Starting point is 00:54:57 He did kill his brother with blood magic. yeah he was good until that and then he was like just kind of here's the lord of the north born of salt and smoke what is he a ham also the you know letting his daughter get sacrificed burn it was you know all his men even in that scene were like I don't know about this guy like we sure that's even works we bong around the head first gamble That's right. They burned her alive, right? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:33 She's begging. No, father, don't burn me. Like, it's rough. Yeah. And then it didn't work out. And then it didn't work out. No. It didn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:55:44 You put it all on red. I feel like the Lord of Light was like, ooh, oh, I didn't ask for that. The little one. Why could you burn like a goat? That would have done it for me. Like a big healthy goat.
Starting point is 00:55:59 you know, a real sacrifice. Your daughter? I can't back you. Change a topic, but did you see the fallout trailer? No, is it, I didn't. Wait, the TV show. No, Fallout 5? That's what it be called, right? There's a trailer for it? Yeah, it's fucking awful. It's boring as shit. Well, I need to see it first, but I would imagine it's like a super early teaser, because like what's going on in Fallout World, if you don't know, is Bethesda took Fall Out of way, or excuse me, Microsoft took Fallout away from Bethesda because they're taking so goddamn
Starting point is 00:56:33 long with Elder Scrolls. They're like, we're going to let Obsidian make this video game. They made the good one anyway. They made Fallout New Vegas, although I don't know who's still an obsidian that made the original game irrelevant. And also, Bethesda, here's what we'll have you do. You remaster New Vegas and Fallout 3. I want a new Fallout project every fucking year going and forward. Fallout 3 remastered, then nine months later, fallout, New Vegas remastered, then the next season of the TV show will come out, and then what's a year and a half after that? Fallout 5. They're trying to maximize, like, this incredibly popular idea. They're too busy not making Elder Scrolls six. They talked about that too.
Starting point is 00:57:16 They've really got themselves in like a Scots-Tots situation with the Elder Scroll 6 because there's just no way they're even close. Zach says I fell for AI, did I? It would shock me if they were a trailer because they just announced that it was going to happen. You know, so like no one knows what the location is. Like, I think they are in the preliminary stages of Fallout 5. But they, Bethesda tweeted this huge thing that was multi-paragraphs. And they talked about all the stuff that I've talked about, the remasters of 3 in New Vegas,
Starting point is 00:57:51 the Fallout 5 going forward and being like as quick as possible mode. And then also they talk to Elder Scroll 6. They're like, we are playtesting a version of Elder Scroll 6. It is going forward. It is being produced. And we're going as fast as we can, sort of thing. I think I fell for AI. Lincoln, let's see how convincing it is.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Okay. Uh-oh. Hulu original series Furious is coming to Disney Plus. Starring Emmy Rossum, Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating serial killer. Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur. Don't miss the three-episode premiere of the Hulu original series Furious on July 27th, only on Hulu on Disney Plus. The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Plus card gives me 15% cash back for the first three months up to $300. With cash like that, I can stream out free because I've got enough.
Starting point is 00:59:01 Distractions. Conditions apply. Scotia Bank. You're richer than you think. Let's see what we got here. Do you think? Ah, okay. Game pulse.
Starting point is 00:59:23 When I get to 28 seconds, I can see how I fill for it. Oh. Oh, this is... Is that the same gas station? It's not. Did you get... What's the time stand where you are? 28.
Starting point is 00:59:42 I'm watching the guy. Okay, yeah, yeah. And when you get into the 40s, there's more to see. It's... I'm embarrassed that I fell for it, but I also see how someone could. It's easy to not pay full attention when you don't know you're supposed to be analyzing every little thing.
Starting point is 01:00:05 I was so bored because I don't... bounced off this game because I thought it was boring as fuck. So I watched it a double speed that didn't help my AI detection. I was like, dude, this 45 seconds feels like 45 minutes in this game. I'm not interested in any game trailers until they have
Starting point is 01:00:21 gameplay. Otherwise, it's just fantasy land. Like there has to be some gameplay in there for me to care. With this in particular, I'm interested because I want to know what the setting is. The setting is like crucial. There's a lot of people want New Orleans to be the next place. They think that you
Starting point is 01:00:37 could do a lot culturally with that. They think that like the downtown area is, is really, would lend itself to that. And there's like voodoo elements and there's swamps and there's the lake and the river. There's the ocean, the Mississippi, the Cajun stuff. There's going to, you could imagine all those things. And the dialect is going to be fun. There's going to be people with that Cajun dialect. So New Orleans would probably be my, can you think of a better idea?
Starting point is 01:01:03 I'm trying to beat it. I'm like, New York? Nah, nah, it's been done. Well, if they do, they've, New Vegas was obviously Vegas, but Texas, if they really leaned into that, could be interesting. But I think you're still, like, rehashing old ground if you do Texas. I was thinking Miami, but Grand Theft Auto exists. So it's, I feel like, I don't know, for some reason that's Miami to me. No, there's a massive fallout overhaul mod that, you hear about these all the time, where there's like a team of moders making a basic a new DLC for a game like fallout.
Starting point is 01:01:34 And they almost always fail. This one succeeded. they made fallout Miami like a bunch of and there's like Cubans and like you know Miami aesthetic and stuff and it worked really well they did a fallout one issue well I had with Miami is I feel like it's
Starting point is 01:01:48 somehow related to Vegas I know they're not in real life but in terms of vibes like the neon and the styling and Miami and Vegas seem related to me have they all been in America yeah okay
Starting point is 01:02:02 that's what I was thinking you could do London Or Paris or Cape Town would be dope. South Africa. I don't know enough about the aesthetics there. Cape Town is on the ocean, sort of on the tip of a peninsula. And it can't get bigger because it's surrounded by a mountain range. So you have this city and the basis of mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. And it seems like a good backdrop for cool stuff.
Starting point is 01:02:31 I would say Tokyo, but that would be the biggest map ever. would be on stuff again. If you were going to do a foreign, Shanghai. China was the main adversary in the Great War, and there are, like, there are Chinese guys that were,
Starting point is 01:02:45 that are part of the, that are in the Fallout Games. It's like, there's a submarine commander and they're like descendants of a nuclear submarine that, that bombed or missile to the U.S.
Starting point is 01:02:54 that are in the games. You do something like that. I like New Orleans. New Orleans is great. It would be interesting. They, there was a big battle in Alaska, between the U.S. and China.
Starting point is 01:03:08 And that's been touched on in one of the DLCs, I think, from Fallout 3. You go into this like VR program where you relive the battle of Alaska or whatever, which allows you to kind of fake time travel your character in VR and go fight the Chinese. Not a lot of big cities though. Like you kind of just have Juno and a lot of them.
Starting point is 01:03:29 If they didn't want to go to New China, would that help them sell a gazillion copies? Yeah. Maybe. I mean, piracy is such a big deal in China and India that it's hard to make money with intellectual property. I just hope that they don't do another Fallout 76. Fallout 76 is such a bastard of a game. It is awful.
Starting point is 01:03:52 You don't think they made it good in the end? Because it's the story I've heard told. When I, so I was like rooting for Marathon to turn it around and get popular. I mean, I still am rooting for it. And I never was predicting it would happen, but I'm losing hope. And I was looking for other stories of games that sort of came out of the gate not so hot and turned it on. There's one, is it? No Man Sky, did that do it? Cyberpunk released really buggy.
Starting point is 01:04:24 And it's been kind of a masterpiece after a few years. And Fallout 76 was one that was on the list as awful at first, but I actually got good. No. Its problems weren't technical. They were spiritual. Like, it was not a fallout game. Like, it doesn't have a real rich story. It doesn't have NPCs at first. I didn't have any talking NPCs. I don't think Fallout appeals to, like, it's not the kind of game you like. Like, I like sitting there and having long, I'm playing Fallout New Vegas right now. I'm replaying the whole thing, including the DLCs on Xbox. And I'm sitting there sometimes for like five minutes straight, having a conversation with a guy like
Starting point is 01:05:04 getting nitty gritty details out of it you know it's there's a lot I need that I want a rich story with RPG elements where it matters that I'm a sneaky stupid guy if you lower your intelligence down to like one or two you'll have
Starting point is 01:05:20 these interactions where the characters like are you a peaceful are you a man of peace or a man of war and you reply I like pizza and he goes I see. War it is. I'm playing Rainbow Six.
Starting point is 01:05:40 So I played ranked. And I'm doing pretty well. I have 17 wins and six losses. And it tries to put you with people of your own skill. And I must be underranked, or at least my squad collectively is underranked. Because we're all moving up. Cool. Then I played some unranked, and I have been getting smashed.
Starting point is 01:05:59 I must have two wins and 15 losses later. Well, not lately. I'm a bit of a win streak right now. Like, I won like two out of my last three. But take that away. And it's demoralizing. It's rough. So many of my deaths.
Starting point is 01:06:13 In this game, there are so many balls you can shoot through. I can't tell who's cheating and who's just a hundred times smarter than me. Because they're shooting me through wall. Like, I haven't moved. How did you know? People know, though. Or you think you haven't moved, but you shifted just a little bit. And that's all they needed to know exactly.
Starting point is 01:06:31 where you are and pinpoint you. I'll, my, my gun skill mechanics are above average. Even in this competitive shooter, I'm above average, I think, in gun skill mechanics. But people outsmart me constantly. You know, just throw in C4, not even exposing their own head for me to click on,
Starting point is 01:06:50 and I die. I've died so many different ways. My KD's less than one. I've been beaten to death yet. I mean, I've been melee. I've been shield-bashed. I guess so. I think I've,
Starting point is 01:07:01 died every way you can die. I think I saw Shroud beat up a guy with an axe or something one time or a hammer. It was a hammer. Yeah, yeah. There's a character called Sledge and I think he won shots with it. It's really for breaking doors, but you can also melee with it. Melee in this game, well, it's one shot kill. But in Call of Duty somehow, like you could make it work.
Starting point is 01:07:23 Shroud's a million times better gamer than me, but if he tried to play melee only, he would have no chance. It's just too weak in Rainbow. Did you see the marathon news? the PVE stuff, the cryo, whatever. I didn't see that. Yeah, he tweeted like, it's been fun or something like that. Goodbye, Beth.
Starting point is 01:07:44 Bungy. Bungy, yeah. That game, I think, was underappreciated. I really enjoyed it. I have, like, 600 hours in it. That's a lot, I think. And, but, I don't know. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Didn't catch. Didn't catch. The PV mode sounds like something that would be good for it, but it may be too little too late. I haven't tried it, but the subreddit's fussing. They say it sucks. Wow, shit. Those are even the hardcore guys.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Those are normally defenders. People are complaining about the subreddit because this culture of toxic positivity where you're not allowed to say anything that doesn't sell the game to potential new players. this cryo mode drops which I thought was going to be pretty cool and everyone's like it sucks it's boring there's nothing to do uh it just dropped and it's complicated to do it well so maybe they don't even know what's up yet it's just a first impression yeah came out today but i don't have a ton of xbox i've been really yeah my uh i i've played all the way through new vegas and all the dcs now my my girlfriend likes to watch me play and then I watch her play her games too
Starting point is 01:09:01 she's a big game or two so we go back and forth playing our games does she play cool games or girl games she plays cool games she's been playing cyberpunk a little bit and she's been playing um she played through Harry Potter she played through dead space she played through
Starting point is 01:09:15 alien isolation um so she plays a lot she likes hard sneaky puzzle games that annoy the shit out of me like if I get lost in the same dungeon 10 times I'm just done. Fucking done with this shit.
Starting point is 01:09:32 And she's like, we're going to figure this one out. You're running past the same dead bodies again and you're like, fuck it. You know what? She plays the Tomb Raider games. They have lots of like difficult puzzles. I don't figure out anything in video games. I look it up. That's my style.
Starting point is 01:09:51 Chatsypc is so good as like a fall like Fallout has. Oh yeah. It's like, hey, my medicine skill is it, is it 50? is it worth advancing it to 65 or even 100? Are there any perks that catch those breakpoints that I'm missing out on by not increasing my medicine? Ah, you seem to have a deep understanding of the game. Well, you absolutely are missing out on three big perks and two not so great ones. You see it.
Starting point is 01:10:16 You see it. 50 medicine, you get this. At 75, get that. And it breaks it down for you so you can make an educated decision without trolling through like Wikipedia for half an hour figuring out what everything is. it's definitely my video game companion for games like that AI is really useful I've been going back and forth with AI to help me pick a new watch for a while so I haven't been flying for a bit and this watch that I wear I like a ton it's been a win but when I put my arm around Jaggy it scratches her
Starting point is 01:10:44 and it always seems to grab things and it's kind of thick in this dimension so I have these requirements for a watch that apparently are nearly impossible to meet I really wanted a simple dial, but I want the day of the week on there. Many, many watches have the date, but the day is less common, unless you start getting
Starting point is 01:11:04 into all these complications with triple dials and this and that. I wanted it to be solar powered. I wanted to set its own time via like GPS or radio towers or something like that. I wanted it to have a sapphire crystal. I wanted to have a metal bracelet. Good nighttime readability. A lot of them have shit, even nighttime readability.
Starting point is 01:11:20 And I wanted it to have a couple other things. Smart watch? Really good waterproofing. Or mechanical watch? In between. It's a quartz watch. If it's mechanical, then you start getting the automatic shake it to do, and they're less accurate. So you don't really find, as far as I know, mechanical watches that, like, set themselves via the atomic clock.
Starting point is 01:11:39 And I wanted that. I wanted to, it's more like just a tool watch. And I found a citizen that I'm having imported from Japan. It's not even sold in America that checks everything. And I would have never done it without AI. We went back and forth for hours and hours. And it's like getting to know me. It's like it seems like your top priority is this and you like a light watch.
Starting point is 01:12:04 Okay. I want to see it. I got to see this thing now. And are you also saying stuff like, and it can't be scratchy or get things caught on it easily? I did tell it about that. Yeah, yeah. I like the Samsung smart watches. I've had two of those.
Starting point is 01:12:18 I'm about to get a third. They're about 400 bucks. And they, I really like being able to change the watch face to anything. because it's a smart watch. You can just show you anything. And it looks real. It looks like dials. I really wanted a simple looking watch that had the day and date on it.
Starting point is 01:12:37 So no triple things or whatever. And this is this was the bullseye I was looking for, but it took a long time to hit it. Okay. It's not for everyone. It's not a look at me. I think Rolex, isn't it called a day date? I think a Rolex day date does that.
Starting point is 01:12:51 Does it? Yeah, Rolex is so expensive. Let's see. How much was this watch? In the hundreds. I think shipped, it's like low 400. I like it. Day date.
Starting point is 01:13:06 I like it, too. I'm really excited about it. It's not something that anyone would be impressed by or look at, but it's the tool that I had a hard time finding. These are absurd. A Rolex day date? These are like $50,000 to $120,000. Well, don't get that one. I just clicked on the Rolex.com day date.
Starting point is 01:13:26 page. Oh, some of them are as low as nine grand. I actually don't see the day on it. I don't either. Oh, it's at the top. At the very top. Oh, I do see it now. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's a little much for I like it. I'm pretty sure.
Starting point is 01:13:45 The one I'm looking at, I don't think it looks good in the dark. And I say that because I learn that watches with really narrow hands and narrow like markings for the hour just don't have enough space to have particular really good, like, luminosity, unless they use the radioactive stuff, which maybe it does. I was about to say,
Starting point is 01:14:04 nobody does. So some people use tritium or something like that, but nobody uses radium anymore. And especially, like, military-grade radium, that stuff is actually, I mean, it registers on a Geiger counter. I've been in this Russian, this Russian armored personnel carrier,
Starting point is 01:14:21 and when you're in the driver's seat, you've got a cluster of gauges, just like any vehicle, but there's more of them because it's an APC. They're all, radium. And I've got this thing buttoned up. Like the hatches are all closed. We're inside of a garage, inside of a house. So I'm blacked out. And every gauge is perfect and bright and luminous with no electricity. And it's hand-painted. It's all hand-painted with radium. ProTech does what you're
Starting point is 01:14:45 talking about. I'll give you, I'll show you. The second picture, if Zach pulls it up, is what it looks like in the dark. And like you said, it's radioactive. It doesn't have the day. And I actually really depend on that. Yeah. But I hated that it had the US MC branding. I don't like the stolen valor stuff. I like it. You can get it without the Marine Corps stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:11 Yeah. If it was just on the back, I probably just tolerate it. But that's pretty neat for a nighttime watch. Like I like a lot about this watch, but it's missing the day. And that was a showstopper. Wendy's 99 cent Frosty is back. and Frosty farmers couldn't be happier. Made with Canadian dairy, they grew up cool, creamy, and mighty thick.
Starting point is 01:15:31 It's farm to Frosty. Get a small 99 cent Frosty until longest second. And participating Wendy's Taxis Extra. Sorry. Investing? Trading? That isn't a personality. You don't need the voice.
Starting point is 01:15:44 You don't need the jargon. You don't need the podcast. You already know how to trade. You've done it your whole life. And TD Easy Trade taps into that instinct. So you can build something real. No minimums, no monthly fees, 24-hour support, no investor personality required. Because you are made to trade, and TD Easy Trade is made to help.
Starting point is 01:16:07 Download it now. I like my smart watch a lot. Obviously, it's great at nighttime because it's a big light. And I can receive text messages and make phone calls with it. I had a watch like that briefly. Mine didn't tell time well. That's a big deal. whole time really better be off by 15 minutes after a week.
Starting point is 01:16:29 Mine does as well as the phone does. So I returned it. But the other thing was a color smartwatch that connects to your phone just about needs charging every other day, right? Does that sound right to you? I had the wireless stand by my bed. And so at night I just take it off and hang it up just like I put, you know, next to my phone on it wireless like charging mat and like, you know,
Starting point is 01:16:53 my fucking nicotine vape. Like, and my Dr. Pepper or whatever, like, they're all sitting there next to each other. If it fits your life, cool. I never remove my watch, like hardly ever. Oh, shit. And my, the one I picked is solar powered. So it just, you just, it's solar powered and the time sets itself. So you should just, I think I could go the rest of my life and never worry about my watch, like charging or being accurate.
Starting point is 01:17:21 So that's, it seems like good bang for your buck. Yeah. If that's your bullseye, right? Other people might want to Rolex. Someone might want a watch like this that has lots of functionality. But I just wanted time, day, date, and always be right. I thought it was going to be a flying watch. Like you wanted something to do some para stuff with.
Starting point is 01:17:39 Oh, I feel like that's what I have now. Like the altimeter watch, and it's super durable. I wanted a sapphire crystal lens. I think it's called a lens, the glass on the front. And, dude, the one I have, I have dragged this watch over. every brick and piece of concrete in this house. I have repaired tractors and cars and motorcycles and paramotors while wearing this watch. I've done so much abusive stuff to it.
Starting point is 01:18:03 And the lens is flawless. You do something like that and you check it and you're like, here we go. And you're like, wow. Yeah. Wow. This is the, this might be the best made thing I own. I've done the same thing. I've raked a sapphire crystal across like hardened steel and stuff like getting out of a tank one time I remember. I remember I smacked the back of my watch against the inside of a tank one time.
Starting point is 01:18:26 And I was just like, no. And I looked at it and nothing. And I was just like, oh, my God, this is incredible. If you hold your phone in such a way that it catches like a reflection and a glare, you'll probably see a hundred baby scratches. Yeah. My watch is like new, new, perfect new. I'm not saying similar.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Like, it is perfect, flawless. You need a dime of scratches. I got to get a sapphire. lens again that became one of my must-haves. Yeah, yeah, I agree. And I don't think that's an expensive upgrade, maybe even, like if you took a regular watch that didn't have one somewhere, I bet it's cheap to put a sapphire lens in something. Oh, I never even considered upgrading the lens on a different watch.
Starting point is 01:19:10 Yeah, I've never done that, but I've had, like, bands put on and stuff like that at the jewelers. A long, long time ago when I was young and were like the cheapest of cheap watches that kids would wear. After you get the battery replaced and stuff, it's not waterproof anymore. And I'm like, what the fuck? So I just took that little childhood experience and was like, well, you can't replace the glass. You know, it won't be the same watertight that you get from the factory.
Starting point is 01:19:35 And, you know, I like to, the showering and swimming, which happens all the time, I have a pool. But every now and then, I'll find myself on a jet ski or a ski boat or something like that. And I want to deal with that, too. Yeah. Seems like a good one. Yeah. I'm excited. PKN 623.
