When the fog rolls in
Part 1
Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.
Shane? I turned around to see Erica.
We're in danger.
Why?
I told you. I told you the fog. That was the warning.
How did you know?
No what?
That there would be a thick fog.
Holy crap, this is crazy.
What the hell, Erica?
Shane, how did you know?
I told you. I told you.
But it wasn't a dream.
I know. It was a warning.
From your dad?
Your dad?
Come on, Roger.
Let's go back inside.
Why?
Because they're fighting, and I don't give a shit about some fog.
We're not fighting.
Okay.
Having a disagreement.
No, Michelle, that's not what this is.
Erica, we are in danger.
You and me?
All of us.
Um, what?
I mean, I don't know.
I think all of us
He told me to leave
To get off the ship
But your dad isn't really here Shane
Wait your dad
You saw him on the ship
No, his dad is dead
Then how is he on the ship
He's not
He is
Okay
Maybe I was wrong Erica
Maybe Shane does need sleep
I'm not tired
And I am not crazy
No one is saying you are
Not out loud anyway
Michelle.
He told me to get off the ship, and that when the fog rolled in, it would be too late.
And look...
The fog?
I think this is pretty normal.
While it's not that cold out, ice fog in Alaska.
Shut up, Roger.
Let's just go back and thide.
I want to know why we're in danger.
I don't know.
He wouldn't say what was coming, but something...
Something is...
But...
But I told him I couldn't get off the ship.
When we get to port, you can.
Babe, maybe Roger's right. It's just fog.
But he knew. He said it would be too late.
Too late for what?
But I didn't answer. I went to the railing and peered down.
I couldn't see the water. Just more fog.
Remember when you showed me the video camera? There wasn't anything unusual.
But I did see something.
Maybe you just thought you did.
Not crazy. I'm not crazy.
I continue to stare over the...
railing. What was happening to me? Babe? That's when I heard someone else approaching. I backed away from
the railing to see a dark figure on the dick. I thought it might be dad again. But then I remembered
he said he wasn't my dad. Don't trust him. Don't trust him. Shane, let's get inside. The figure got
closer and I remember dad mentioning the shadow man oh shit what do you see that the man with the
sweater the figure stepped through the fog I relaxed was just another passenger he wore a gray
cardigan and blue pants pretty crazy right the man motioned to the fog and then went to the
railing can't even see the water yeah
Do you know him, Shane?
No.
Babe, can we go back inside now?
We've had a lot to drink.
Maybe we should just go back in the room.
As Erica grabbed my hand, I saw a moth flutter behind her head.
Made its way towards me.
I pulled out of Erica's grasp.
No.
Shane?
Look.
Oh, no what?
Maybe we should find the doctor.
They have one on board.
It's just like at your parents.
This isn't a nightmare, though, Shane. This is really happening.
I know.
The moth fluttered down the deck past the man.
Out of sight.
Cora, stop! Stop, please!
This is her, right?
I sput around to see two girls marching up.
The one in front appeared angry, fists punched.
Hey, you!
What the hell is this?
You're the bitch who is making out with my girlfriend.
Oh, shit.
Wait, what?
Corriss.
Stop!
No.
Please don't do this.
You made out with my girl?
Oh, Jesus Christ.
Well, you better answer me, bitch.
You made out with someone.
She made out with my girlfriend.
In the corner of the fucking club.
I saw you two walk off together.
What the hell, Michelle?
So I made out with someone.
A girl.
I'm buzzed.
Well, I was until all this nightmare
Fog talk. That sobered me up quickly.
Is this a joke to you?
Cora, I apologized. It didn't mean anything.
It didn't. Really.
I don't fucking care. I'm one of those rare types who doesn't like anyone making out with their girlfriend.
I can't believe you kiss someone.
A girl, Roger, hardly cheating.
Oh. So this is your boyfriend.
Yeah?
How would you feel if I started making out with him?
You fucking bitch.
Michelle, apologize.
For being drunk?
Yes?
No.
Fuck you.
Just then.
Cora lunged at Michelle.
The other girl grabbed her as Roger jumped between them.
Stop!
Stop!
Shit!
Cora, stop!
Cora!
Skype!
Let go of me!
No, not till you calm down.
Roger, Erika, and the other girl separated the two.
Yeah, calm down.
down. It was a drunken makeout. I didn't even know she had a girlfriend. Fuck. I don't give a shit.
Coral, we were drunk. That's not an excuse. And by the way, I'm pissed at you too. You can stay out of
our room tonight. Are you serious? Is there a problem here? We're fine, buddy.
The man in the cardigan walked over, looking concerned.
You sure? I said we're fine.
So what? Am I supposed to sleep in the hallway? I don't give a shit.
As long as it isn't in my bed.
I paid for the room, too.
I don't care.
You can sleep somewhere else.
Take her room.
You can't sleep with us.
This is dumb.
I said I was sorry.
It won't happen again.
This isn't the first fucking time, Sky.
You're a fucking asshole, too.
Just then the moth reappeared.
It flew between the group and over the railing.
Beside us, the area was quiet.
There were no other passenger.
out on the deck. No one
had walked by. It was
late, but still
I...
Shai.
What?
Let's not forget
about Dallas Bull or
Evergreen. That wasn't
the same thing. I can't believe
that you would do this again.
We're on fucking vacation.
This is ridiculous. I'm not even gay.
And that means what?
I wasn't going to sleep with her.
Jesus, Michelle, just apologize.
Fine.
Sorry for making out with a random girl.
Yeah, you seem real torn up about it.
Fucking bitch.
I tried.
I walked off from the group and headed towards the voice.
Who was this?
Who was calling me?
I was getting closer to the voice.
Shane!
Where are you going?
Shane!
Run!
Run!
Shane!
Erica grabbed my arm and pulled me.
Jesus Christ, Shane!
What's going on?
Do you hear that?
Do you hear a calling?
Do I hear what calling?
Jesus, that's loud
Something's coming
What, what is it?
Shane, what's coming?
Um, what the hell was that?
Shane, what was that?
Just then the ship rumbled and tilted.
Ah!
Oh shit!
Watch out!
I lost my footing, and so did Erica.
We fell to the ground as the ship continued to tilt.
We must have hit ground because the ship was upending and we slid across the deck towards the rail.
Oh my god!
Erica!
I grabbed her and braced myself as I slammed into the railing.
Ah!
My foot dangled between the railing.
The foot dangled between the railing bars.
I tried getting up, but couldn't.
Just then the ship tilted the other way, riding itself.
The ship was back to normal, but we were still laying on the deck.
What the hell was that?
Holy shit!
Holy shit!
We almost tip, guys!
The ship must have run aground!
Run aground?
Shut the hell up, Roger!
We almost felt.
As we got up, I noticed the man and two girls behind us.
They were also wide-eyed and shaken.
Jesus Christ.
We should go inside.
I agree. Come on.
Erica grabbed my hand, but before I can move, I noticed my dad.
Standing in the middle of the deck.
No more than ten feet away.
I tried the warning, saying.
