Chapter 13
When the fog rolls in
Part 3
Go, go, go, are those things.
Shane, where are we going?
We have to get off the ship.
We turned the corner and nearly bumped it to the man we met outside.
Jesus!
Where the hell are you guys going?
That guy is following me.
He's got a knife.
Yeah, well, there's something.
behind us, too.
What is this?
What is going on?
Here it comes.
Where do we go?
Outside.
Go!
I couldn't believe this was happening.
This reminded me of the nightmares before the trip.
Always me running.
Always some monstrosity giving chase.
And what are we supposed to do when we get outside?
Who the fuck cares?
But we never made it outside.
A deer-headed man.
The one with a thin green parker came around the corner.
forcing us to slide to a hallway.
How?
Who the fuck are you?
The man's body twisted and snapped until he was now upset down, crawling towards us.
The short antlers scraping along the floor.
Oh my God!
This way, over here!
We followed the man down a walkway and around the corner.
Where are we going?
Up here, the elevators!
Elevators?
But when we turned the corner, the far end of the hallway stood a deer man.
His red flannel jacket dripping blood.
He held up the dulled and rusted machete and walked towards us.
This way!
No! I'm not going towards him!
The elevators are around the corner!
Come on, Sky!
We all ran to a dimly lit hall with four elevators.
I noticed the floor was wet, slippery.
Hurry!
I don't know if we should get in an elevator.
What the hell else are we going to do?
We're trapped.
We all hit the buttons waiting for doors to open.
The scraping of the antlers got louder.
Come on.
The light slowly lowered over the numbers above the elevator.
What the hell?
Were they all on the top floor?
Come on, come on.
What do they want from us?
Let's not find out.
Shane, I'm scared.
Me too.
Just then, the dear man who had been crawling,
turn the corner.
We all backed up towards the last elevator.
It slowly crawled towards us.
What do we do?
Stay behind me, Sky.
Hey, look!
The elevator door is behind us open and never will scramble in.
Go!
Shut them! Hurry!
Shut!
Shut!
Shut!
Fuck.
What floor?
Who gives a shit?
I hit the sun deck.
Is that the highest one?
Yes.
No.
The sports deck is.
This elevator doesn't go up to the sports deck.
Again.
Who gives a shit?
I do, Michelle.
I want to be as far away from those things as possible.
We will be.
Good.
What the fuck?
Now what?
The elevator stopped moving, and the lights flickered.
Erica, look.
What?
The sign.
The sign which showed the ship decks was wet and yellowed.
It was peeling at the corners.
So what, Shane?
Why is it like that?
I don't know.
Just then I felt water dripping on me.
This is fucking great!
No!
Oh no.
Why did the lights go out?
Because why the fuck wouldn't they?
None of the buttons are working.
The power had cut out.
It was pitch black.
Everyone bumped into each other in a panic.
Stop guys!
We've got to stop moving.
Why?
Because we might...
Oh, shit.
Hang on!
Eric and I have been holding hands the whole time.
But now I pulled her closer and grabbed her tightly, just as the elevator fell.
Ah!
Ah!
Ah!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Hey!
We...
We stopped!
No shit, Cheryl.
It's Sherlock.
Are we on the bottom floor?
No.
I think we're caught in the cable line.
What does that mean?
Hey, hey, I can see light.
Is that the door?
I think so.
Move.
I could feel Cora pushed past me and over towards the thin stream of light.
I can see carpet.
What if it's the same floor those things were on?
The one we were just on.
It's not.
How do you know?
Different carpet.
He, uh, notices things like that.
Let's see if we can pull the doors back.
Give me a hand.
Cavill! Not so much movement.
Shut up, Roger.
Hey, it looks like we're stuck between levels.
I can't get my fingers in there.
I'll get on the other side, but I need help.
Here.
We all crowded around the doors.
I got it.
Me too.
Everyone got a grip?
Yeah.
Yes.
Okay.
On the count of three, we pull.
One, two, three.
Okay, wait.
The light hit us, causing me to squint.
When my eyes adjusted, I could see Cora putting her body between the doors.
Cora, wait, that's dangerous.
We gotta keep him open.
She used her leg to push the right sign
while positioning her back against the left.
Are you okay?
I got it.
Now go.
Hurry.
Go.
Go, Sky.
Sky climbed over Korra and jumped to the floor, which is about four feet down.
Go, Erica.
Go, babe.
Erica jumped.
Then Michelle.
Then Roger.
Come on, Shane.
Go.
You're next.
Okay.
But just as I crouched down, the elevator tilted.
Shane
Oh crap
The elevator slid down a few inches
Oh my god
I'm losing my footing
Go!
But there was no time
The elevator tilted again
causing me to fall back
I'm stuck
I'm stuck
I can't move
The doors had closed a bit
pinning her
Ah
Get her out
I got up and grabbed her right arm
The other guy grabbed her leg
The doors closed more
forcing her knee into her chest.
They all tried grabbing her from the other side,
but it was no use.
Most of her body was still in the elevator, so I pulled.
It's gonna fall.
Shit!
Pull!
We got her in, just as the elevator's jerked.
And just before the door shut, I could see the shadow man,
standing behind Erica.
Erica!
Shane!
No!
Then, the elevator.
of hell.
Shit!
Brace yourself!
I pushed myself into the corner and waited for impact.
Paralyzed.
